-Adam Popp is a 12-year combat veteran of the Air Force with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team leader. In 2007, while working to disarm a roadside bomb (IED) in Afghanistan, he was injured by a secondary IED resulting in the amputation of his right leg above the knee.-In the years following his injury, Adam endeavored to find meaning and purpose. Ultimately, he found that running, sports, and advocacy work was his path to fulfillment and self-actualization.-He is a seven-time Guinness World Record holder, became the first above-knee amputee to complete a 100-mile ultramarathon within 30 hours in 2016, has five 100-mile finishes, and set an amputee record time of 16:13:43 for 100 miles in 2024. He won the 2024 Boston Marathon's Para Elite division and set a world best of 3:08:52 at the London Marathon six days later. He has six finishes at the JFK 50-miler and set an able-bodied course record at the 2019 Colorado Kickers for Kids Endurance Run while winning the race outright. He has twelve podium finishes in Paratriathlon, including wins at the 2021 and 2022 Americas Triathlon Championships and the 2018 ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, and in 2023, completed a full Ironman in 11:03:06.-During the 18 months in which he was recovering from his injuries, he was able to meet and learn from others recovering from a wide range of traumatic injuries and individual challenges. He saw the myriad ways that people handled the process of recovery, many using sport to not only overcome their new adversity, but to rise to a higher level of functioning in the aftermath of trauma. By the end of his stay at Walter Reed Medical Center, he made a pledge to himself that he would utilize his experience, understanding, and compassion to help others overcome their individual physical and emotional challenges to reach their maximum potential.-He completed a Master's degree in Rehabilitation and Clinical Counseling from George Washington University and a second master's degree in Sport & Performance Psychology from the University of Denver. He has served on the Board of Directors of the EOD Warrior Foundation for 13-years, and on the VA Veterans' Advisory Committee on Rehabilitation for three years. He is a certified peer-mentor and peer-mentor trainer through the Amputee Coalition of America and assists amputees and other individuals with disabilities to successfully pursue athletic and other personal endeavors. Additionally, he was featured in Alive, a documentary featuring veterans who have turned to athletics to heal both physically and emotionally from their battle wounds. Currently, Barbara serves as the Director of Programs within the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, where she leads her team in providing advocacy and educational support for the families of fallen special operators and Congressional Medal of Honor recipients as well as immediate financial support to wounded, ill, and injured special operators. In this position, she is responsible for ensuring that the enduring promise made to these families is kept through utilizing their cradle-to-career approach in supporting the children of these families. Before joining the mission within the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Barbara spent 10 years working as a licensed mental health counselor in a variety of settings including, non-profit, military, and for-profit settings. Barbara holds a MS in Psychology, Clinical Counseling from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and is currently pursuing her PhD in Developmental Psychology at Liberty University. She was also Co-director, working with neuroscientist Dr. Al Powers on the Yale University COPE Project. The Yale University COPE Project researched people who reported hearing voices in various forms. They studied differences of people who find this a problem and cannot control these voices, as well as those who do not and are able to control the voices, such as psychic mediums. Brittany Quagan is in a unique position as both a psychic medium and a therapist to help end the stigma that the mental health field often has of psychic mediums. According to her website, Brittany Quagan, has "worked in mental health and wellness for over ten years. She has a Masters Degree of Science in Clinical Counseling and Human Services, as well as a License in the State of Connecticut as a Professional Counselor. With a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling, she spent 14 years in clinical and leadership positions in the mental health field before becoming a Stay at Home Mom and Small Business Owner. Mallory brings lots of creativity and outside of the box thinking to the business (and is also a strong advocate for family balance). Mallory and her husband Dan have three of the Five Forks, Emelia, Eloise and Elliot. Outside of cakes, Mallory enjoys other creative hobbies, traveling and spending time with her family and friends!  Maddison is the perfectionist. With a Masters degree in Chemistry and a little over eight years working in biochemistry. Every single one of our recipes are written out with measurements down to the gram and baking times measured depending on the season all because of her left brain approach to the world. Burnout is characterized by feeling of physical, mental, and psychological exhaustion, feeling disconnected from the business and people around, and feeling resentful towards coworkers and customers. Burnout can lead to feeling of not being able to go to work and losing interest in the work that one used to love. Scott experienced symptoms of burnout while owning an advertising agency, including physical, mental and psychological exhaustion.     [15:22 - 22:49] Discovering the People Who Completely Changed Scott's Life Scott discusses the wonderful people who have influenced him in various ways. The first one is Yair Bar-Haim, a psychologist at Tel Aviv University who specializes in PTSD research. He was the head of the Israeli commandos, an elite military force in Israel, which gave him extensive experience in military operations and leadership. Bar-Haim and his team are world leaders in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) research, meaning they have made significant contributions to the field and have a high level of expertise. Scott met a mentor who helped him become an entrepreneur, guiding and supporting him as he started his own business. Arthur shares how the love of hip-hop and breakdancing led to work as a community organizer. We speak about the joy of seeing our Filipino brothers and sisters thrive in the art of street dance culture and finding spaces within dance where we belong. With breakdance set to debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there's exciting times ahead for street dance. ABOUT ARTHUR TIOJANCO Arthur Tiojanco began his breaking career in 2003 and has worked his way to be recognized as a leading individual in the Vancouver breaking scene. He is a member of Surrey's oldest, active breaking crew “Floor Storm”, and has competed locally and internationally. In 2007, Arthur organized and hosted his first breaking competition with PraiseTEAM Studio. Since then, he has organized dozens of battles in the Lower Mainland. He is the current Vice Chair of the Vancouver Street Dance Association, which puts on the Vancouver Street Dance Festival at Robson Square, the largest annual outdoor Street Dance Festival in Canada! A part of his training is to work with mentors and help Phase I participants from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Michael is also a trainer for Natural Lifemanship, the model of therapy that incorporates the Neurosequential model to understand human and horse brain development.
