Can being too kind to yourself hold you back from achieving your goals? In this episode of Sari Swears, Sari de la Motte dismantles the toxic myth that trial lawyers must rely on self-criticism, fear, and burnout to succeed. Grounded in the behavioral science behind James Clear's Atomic Habits, Sari explains why the human brain is wired to respond to joy, desire, and rewards—not self-punishment. In this episode, you'll learn: The Motivation Myth: Why self-flagellation is the exact opposite of what creates sustainable personal growth. The Science of Habit Formation: How cues, cravings, and rewards drive real change far more effectively than force. Self-Love in High-Stakes Law: How shifting from fear to self-acceptance allows you to build a successful trial practice without sacrificing your well-being. Resources & Links:

Was Lindsay Clancy actually diagnosed with postpartum depression? As the trial concludes, Allie gives updates and modifications to her original opinion. While the defense and social media paint the narrative that Lindsay was a struggling mom seeking help who was recklessly put on multiple psychiatric medications that caused her to murder her children, Allie analyzes why that idea doesn't hold up. Re-evaluating the case in light of the surprising fact that no doctor formally diagnosed Lindsay with postpartum depression, anxiety, or psychosis, what Allie originally reported as nuanced now appears much more unequivocal. Mental health experts from both sides of the case gave their professional opinions as to why it is unlikely that Lindsay was experiencing a psychotic episode when she murdered her children. One doctor presents the concept of “altruistic filicide” — the idea that Lindsay killed her children out of a distorted sense of love or protection. Allie examines all these developments as well as more conspiracy theory claims regarding Lindsay's husband, Patrick — this time rooted in astrology. Allie concludes this heavy episode by looking at the life and legacy of Dolly Parton in light of her passing. Do you have a question for Allie? The Poco a Poco Podcast with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
Episode 312 - Silence of Self-Love Have you ever felt like you had to prove yourself, protect yourself, or hold everything together on your own? In this episode, the friars continue their series on holy silence by reflecting on the silence of self-love. They explore how pride, self-reliance, self-protection, insecurity, and the need to perform can create a lot of noise in our hearts. When we feel threatened, unseen, corrected, or afraid, it can be easy to turn inward and try to defend the self we want others to see. But Jesus invites us into something much quieter and freer, the poverty of being beloved sons and daughters. We do not have to build a fortress around ourselves or work endlessly to be loved. The Father's love is already poured out, already steady, already "maxed out" for us. Join us as we learn to let go of the noise of self-protection and rest in the Father's love that tells us who we really are. The Poco a Poco podcast happens because of many generous donors, including recurring monthly donations of any amount. Thinking about helping out? You can give at https://spiritjuice.org/supportpoco. Today's episode we talk about some green flags and how important it is to decenter relationships and center yourself. So many people are so focused on maintaining all types of relationships that they aren't even paying attention to the fact that they are neglecting the personal relationship they have with themselves in order to maintain everything else. Kate Bradley Chernis spent over a decade figuring out how to use sound to make strangers feel like friends. At Sirius/XM, she was building 200-layer audio files for 30-second commercials. Next, she was infusing radio theory into a generative AI platform before most people knew what generative AI was. Now at Backline EQ, she's using the same instinct, that sound tells you things a transcript never could, to engineer human connection at scale. This conversation covers all of it: the neuroscience, the pivots, and the parts of the journey she rarely shares out loud.In this episode:The theater of the mind and why it's the foundation of trust: when your brain constructs the story rather than receiving it passively, it taps into nostalgia, memory, and emotion — the three keystones of why we buy, connect, and believeWhy your eyes lie but your ears don't — Kate's case that sound is the most honest and hardest-to-trick human sense, and what that means for AI tools that rely entirely on transcriptsThe "rules of radio" Kate embedded into Lately's AI — word choices like "remember" versus "don't forget" that trigger different emotional responses, drawn from her training in the neuroscience of music and parasocial connectionHow Backline EQ outperformed the Microsoft/IBM/Google industry-standard language model (MFCC) by 70% in measuring team fit — using voice patterns alone, without transcriptionKate's vulnerable disclosure about a difficult period in her life after eleven years building a company and how her mother's reminder that she was a prodigy at six became the unexpected anchor that helped her begin againThe investor who finally told her to stop inventing something new and just make existing technology better and how that single pivot made everything easier for the first time in over a decadeContent Warning: This episode includes a brief discussion of suicidal ideation. "We are so well positioned to have it continue and flourish because we have become a Perpetual Purpose Trust, which means this place is no longer owned by one person or any financial interest—it is owned by purpose." —Michael Stusser "We're always trying to figure out how we keep moving the property forward in a way that's sustainable, and also how it's going to impact our guests, our business, our staff." —Heather Bishop A perpetual purpose trust sounds like a legal footnote until you meet the two people who actually built one. This episode traces how Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary in Sonoma County became the first U.S. spa to place itself inside that structure — permanently removing any future owner's ability to chase profit over mission. Justine first sits down with founder Michael Stusser, who traces the idea back to a single afternoon in an 800-year-old Kyoto stone garden, and then with CEO Heather Bishop, who inherited the vision and had to figure out how to make it legally unbreakable. This one's for anyone who's tired of the word "sustainable" doing all the talking and none of the work. Michael and Heather don't just describe the enzyme bath, the meditation gardens, or the gray water system — they explain the budgeting, the permits, and the trade-offs behind each one. It's a conversation about what it actually costs, in time and humility, to build something that outlasts you. The enzyme bath's heat comes entirely from billions of thermophilic bacteria fermenting Douglas fir and rice bran — not from any external heat source. Osmosis's perpetual purpose trust means the business has no human shareholder; its "shareholder" is the mission itself, enforced by a trust committee and an independent trust enforcer. The five-and-a-half-acre property couldn't legally go into the same trust as the business, so it's being paid off and moved into a separate land trust over the next three to five years. A gray water system currently covers roughly 50–60% of the property's irrigation needs, with a rainwater catchment system planned to close the gap entirely. Osmosis sources its enzyme bath wood shavings as a byproduct from local lumber operations that would otherwise throw them away. Trust-based decision-making already changed real policy — Heather cites expanding paid time off to all staff, including part-time employees, as a direct result of the trust's staff-benefit objectives. Listen to the full conversation with Michael Stusser and Heather Bishop, and follow Essential Ingredients so you don't miss what's next. https://tinyurl.com/Essential-Ingredients-Podcast Meet Michael: Michael Stusser, founder of Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary, is a pioneer in ecological sustainability, organic gardening, and holistic wellness. Beginning his journey at UC Santa Cruz in the late 1960s, he helped establish horticultural training centers and later served on the board of the Farallones Institute in Sonoma County. In the early 1980s, Michael apprenticed in traditional landscape gardening in Kyoto, Japan, where he immersed himself in Zen meditation and discovered the healing power of cedar enzyme baths. Returning to California in 1984, he introduced this unique practice, gaining national recognition in outlets like The New York Times and CNN. By 1988, he transformed five acres in Freestone into Osmosis, blending inspired landscaping, meditation traditions, and eco‑restoration to create a sanctuary rooted in sustainability, spirituality, and rejuvenation. LinkedIn Meet Heather: Heather Bishop is the CEO of Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary, where she leads one of Northern California's most distinctive hospitality businesses with a focus on people‑centered leadership and operational excellence. Over the past decade, she has guided Osmosis through transformative organizational change, overseeing operations, finance, HR, strategic planning, and guest experience for a team of 80+. Heather recently spearheaded the company's transition into a Purpose Trust‑owned business—one of the few in the United States—ensuring long‑term mission preservation while modernizing governance, HR systems, and employee benefits. With expertise in executive leadership, organizational development, change management, and hospitality operations, Heather is dedicated to building resilient, purpose‑driven organizations where employees thrive and guests enjoy exceptional experiences. We're so excited to welcome Dr. Marisa Franco back to the podcast for the third time to talk about something so many of us struggle with: feeling worthy. We're diving into why simply telling ourselves to “love ourselves” doesn't always work, how our past experiences continue to shape the way we see ourselves today, and what it can look like to meet ourselves with more understanding instead of trying to force ourselves to feel differently. We also talk about how our own self-worth impacts the way we show up for our kids and how we can help the next generation build a healthier relationship with themselves.Key Topics CoveredWhy insecurity can actually be an adaptive responseHow attachment theory can become another form of perfectionismWhy some people struggle to receive complimentsThe connection between self-worth, memories, and our emotional responsesHow to recognize, regulate, and respond to difficult emotionsCONNECT WITH DR. 'Should' is a sketchy word. Not only does it keep us in a place of limbo, somewhere between doing things and not doing things, it also creates a lot of shame around our lack of focus and momentum. And if there's one thing we know about shame, it's that it will never move us forward into a better version of ourselves. Shame always shuts us down and even creates a downward spiral. Ron responds to Monte Mader's “bodily autonomy” defense of abortion and breaks down why it's a flimsy excuse to kill a baby. Trump is still grappling with the housing affordability crisis and economic fallout he inherited from the Biden administration, much like how Ronald Reagan faced severe inflation and high mortgage rates left over from the Carter years. In the early 2020s, rapid home-price growth and soaring inflation pushed 30-year mortgage rates far higher after they had been in the mid-to-high 2% range when Biden took office, echoing the double-digit inflation and 18%+ mortgage rates of the late 1970s and early 1980s. While rates have begun easing and home-price growth has slowed significantly under Trump, resolving a crisis of this scale — just as it took years in the 1980s — requires more time than many critics allow. "Our culture has put together two things: my worth is this if I weigh this." - Anne Poirier Ann Poirier is a renowned body image expert, certified intuitive eating counselor, and author celebrated for her significant contributions to the Body Neutrality movement. A long-time survivor of an eating disorder, Ann has transformed her past struggles into a mission to help others cultivate a healthy relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. Her notable work includes the book "The Body Joyful: My Journey from Self-Loathing to Self-Acceptance," which chronicles her journey and insights into self-acceptance. Ann is also the founder of the Body Joyful Revolution, an initiative dedicated to dismantling body shaming and promoting acceptance irrespective of size and shape. Episode Summary: In this eye-opening episode of "All My Health There Is Hope," host Jana Short speaks with Ann Poirier, a courageous voice in the realm of body-image acceptance. From the impact of her upbringing under stringent body-conscious norms to her breakthrough realization of the need for hope, Ann walks listeners through her transformative journey. Ann addresses weight stigma, societal beauty standards, and her advocacy for body neutrality—pioneering a path for individuals to separate their self-worth from their body weight. Ann emphasizes the importance of loving one's body as it is, challenging the prevailing cultural tides that tie value and beauty to body size. The episode discusses the ideas articulated in her book "The Body Neutrality Playbook," which guides readers in shifting their perspectives regarding self-image and self-worth. Both Ann and Jana explore topics like societal judgments, self-worth, and how to influence a positive shift in future generations. Listeners are left with a message of self-affirmation and the understanding that authentic beauty arises from self-acceptance and gratitude for one's body. Key Takeaways: Culture and upbringing significantly impact individual perceptions of self-worth and body image, as shared by Ann's personal experiences. The Body Neutrality Movement advocates for separating self-worth from body weight and is essential to fostering healthier body relationships. Encouragement towards self-appreciation for what the body can do instead of its appearance helps build a positive mindset. Judgment based on appearance is pervasive, and continual self-awareness and mindset shifts are vital to overcoming it. Intentional movement and self-care play key roles in promoting a healthier outlook on one's body, detached from societal expectations. Allie interviews LaRell Herbert, who grew up in the Mormon church and experienced confusion regarding his gender from a young age. Everything he knew to be true was based on LDS doctrine, and when his belief in the “church” dissolved, the belief that he was simply a product of evolution took its place. When his worldview turned to the idea that he was a product of chance and not an intentional creation, the only thing that made sense with his conflicting feelings regarding his sexuality was that he was born in the wrong body. He expressed this heartbreaking information to his wife and began attending therapy with a nonbinary therapist who encouraged him to start receiving hormones and surgical treatment. LaRell went on to identify openly as a woman for seven years. His life changed, however, when he came to the realization that his feelings of being a woman were not something that he was born with but were rooted in childhood trauma. He now has a relationship with Jesus and accepts his true identity as a man made in the image of God. LaRell sits down with Allie to share his story as well as offer helpful insight for those who have loved ones walking through similar challenges. The Abundance Journey: Accelerating Revenue With An Abundance Mindset
The guidance you've been searching for may have been with you all along. The real challenge is learning how to recognize Divine wisdom beneath fear, overthinking, and the pressure to get everything right. In this joyful conversation, Elaine Starling welcomes author, spiritual instructor, angel communicator, and modern mystic Ann Albers to explore the powerful connection between self-love and Divine guidance. Ann shares the extraordinary path that took her from engineering to more than 30 years of communicating with angels, along with the simple principle she uses to evaluate guidance: does it genuinely resonate? You'll discover why self-love is not about being positive all the time, how self-acceptance helps you naturally rise into greater alignment, and why relaxing your mental grip makes it easier to receive the next inspired impulse. Ann also shares a practical way to tune into the vibration of love before asking for guidance, plus remarkable stories about manifestation, trust, grief, joy, and letting The Divine handle the HOW.Topics Covered (add timestamps if available)• 0:00 How do you know whether you're receiving Divine guidance or listening to fear?• 2:40 Connecting with The Divine through breath, Intention, and shared energy• 8:02 From engineer to angel communicator: Ann's unexpected spiritual path• 11:34 The simplest test for guidance: Does it resonate?• 13:28 Why Ann defines abundance as happiness• 16:52 Why “you cannot listen when you're talking” applies to your busy mind• 18:46 Intention, Grateful Curiosity, and Celebrating in Advance• 19:57 Ann's remarkable $44,152 manifestation story• 22:11 Why we make Divine co-creation harder than it needs to be• 24:41 Self-acceptance as the foundation of self-love• 26:39 What self-love really means when you're sad, angry, grieving, or struggling• 30:33 Trusting that life can ultimately work on your behalf• 31:27 Why Divine guidance arrives “now, now, now” instead of as a five-year plan• 34:35 Two practical steps to receive clearer guidance• 37:16 Ann's free weekly Messages from Ann & the Angels• 39:53 Ann's simplest invitation: Find something you love and do it• 42:25 Playfully trusting The Divine in ordinary life• 46:45 The incomprehensible amount of love available to youYouTube tip: These timestamps can double as Chapters.Key Takeaways (Skimmable Wins)• You are the ultimate authority in your own life. Even spiritual guidance should resonate, feel inspiring, or feel naturally right to you.• Self-love begins with self-acceptance. You do not have to deny sadness, anger, grief, or frustration in order to be spiritual or receive guidance.• When you have done what you know to do, stop mentally spinning and “delegate up.” A relaxed mind has more room to receive a new thought, signal, or impulse.• Love, joy, appreciation, and kindness help tune you to the frequency on which Divine guidance is easier to perceive.• Guidance is often immediate and organic. The next right step may seem completely unrelated to the solution your mind is trying to manufacture.• Grateful Curiosity turns your relationship with The Divine into a playful partnership instead of a problem-solving struggle.• There is more love and support available to you than you can comprehend — and the more you receive, the more there is to receive.Step-by-Step Process SharedAnn's “Get in the Vibration of Love” Guidance Practice1. Accept yourself exactly where you are. → Acknowledge what you are feeling without judgment. Self-acceptance is already an act of love.2. Temporarily set the problem aside. → Stop trying to force the answer so your mind has room to listen.3. Think of someone or something you genuinely love or appreciate. → Choose anything that naturally opens your heart.4. Feel the love in your body. → Relive why you love that person, animal, memory, experience, or even a favorite treat.5. Let go of the object and stay with the feeling. → Rest in the vibration of love itself.6. Ask your question and notice what comes first. → Trust the first feeling, thought, image, or inner impulse that arises.Listen to the episode for Ann's lived examples of using these principles with manifestation, grief, decisions, money, unexpected problems, and everyday spiritual guidance.Questions Answered in This Episode• How can I tell the difference between fear, mental noise, and genuine Divine guidance?• What caused Ann Albers to leave engineering and begin communicating with angels professionally?• What does abundance mean when you begin with spiritual alignment instead of external circumstances?• Why is self-acceptance so important when I want my outer life to change?• How can I hear guidance more clearly when I'm worried, grieving, angry, or overwhelmed?• Why does trying harder sometimes make spiritual guidance harder to receive?• What can I do right now to tune into the vibration of love before asking for direction?• How can I make my relationship with The Divine more playful, trusting, and practical?Pull Quotes“You're the authority in your own life.” — Ann Albers“Self-love is truly accepting that you're a Divine being, no matter what's going on at the surface.” — Ann Albers“Get in the vibration of love first.” — Ann AlbersFree GiftFree weekly newsletter from Ann & the Angels — Messages from Ann & the Angels offers inspiration, channeled angelic wisdom, personal stories, and practical tips to help you deepen your connection with spirit and apply spiritual principles in everyday life.• https://www.visionsofheaven.comShare what you Loved and what you Learned from this episode to Download the Spiritual Alignment & Conscious Actions Guide — your roadmap to reconnect with The Divine, raise your vibration, and live as the woman your soul designed you to be.https://www.TheAbundanceJourney.com/Contact — click on the Share My Thoughts button. Allie recaps her debate on “Jubilee” with former evangelical Monte Mader and looks into a common debate strategy called “Gish galloping.” This tactic involves overwhelming an opponent with multiple arguments and talking fast, making it impossible for them to reply to every claim brought up. Allie shows how this method was used by Mader during their debate and explains the best way to respond when it happens. Allie also looks into Mader's claims about the history of abortion and the church and gives a more in-depth response than the debate time allotted. Allie ends by discussing conspiracy theories surrounding the Lindsay Clancy case. Female TikTok users are spreading the idea that Lindsay Clancy's ex-husband is actually responsible for the murder of their three children — a theory that is not based in fact and helpful to no one. Allie looks at popular songs, books, and TV shows from the past few decades that display female victimhood culture and promote the idea that evil is just misunderstood; she shares her thoughts about how this way of thinking may be influencing how people view this case. She concludes by reminding listeners to not forget that the victims of this case are the children. Do you have a question for Allie? Leave a voicemail at 844-755-5252. Allie revisits the growing controversy surrounding Kathryn Krick by looking at GeorDavie, her spiritual mentor and an African faith healer. GeorDavie has been accused of sexual harassment, grooming, and abuse toward women, many of whom were once friends of Kathryn Krick. Allie looks into where he came from and his influence on Krick, who refuses to condemn her “spiritual daddy” and continues to describe him as pure and godly. Allie discusses testimonies of women who have come out publicly and reveals text messages and conversations that have been exclusively shared to the "Relatable" team. The accounts expose how GeorDavie's inappropriate behavior toward women is disguised as spiritual healing and cleansing. The accounts also demonstrate how he targets women by growing their dependency on him and asks intimate questions regarding their sexual past and dating history. This is not the picture of a biblical shepherd or pastor charged with caring for his people. In order to stop more women from being harmed and the spread of this pseudo-Christianity, GeorDavie must be exposed. Do you have a question for Allie? Leave a voicemail at 844-755-5252. Vanessa Sivadge, whistleblower, former Texas Children's Hospital nurse, and recipient of the Share the Arrows award, is back! Vanessa witnessed how the largest children's hospital in the country illegally used state funding to provide minors with transitioning procedures. While many in Vanessa's situation would simply quit, she chose to speak out; first anonymously in 2023, then publicly in 2024. After openly coming forward, she was fired from her job and now leads the organization Protecting Texas Children that fights for parental rights and advocates for children on a legislative level. She joins Allie to discuss how God has continued to write her story and how she is currently speaking the truth and fighting the ideology pushing the mutilation of children's bodies. The past few years have consisted of private back-and-forth conversations as the case against Texas Children's Hospital has unfolded. On May 15, 2026, the case concluded, and Texas Children's was required to pay a settlement. Along with the settlement, five physicians were fired, and America's first detransition clinic was established. Vanessa's story is an encouragement to Christians to speak the truth boldly even when it is difficult and a reminder that God can use them for His glory in the spheres of influence He has placed them. How do stop suffering and learn how to heal yourself emotionally when the past still feels present? In this episode, we explore how to stop reliving painful experiences, how to let go of the stories that keep emotional suffering alive, and how to begin creating more peace internally. You'll learn why pain and suffering are not always the same thing, how your thoughts and interpretations can keep difficult experiences active long after they happen, and how to begin changing your internal state without denying what happened or blaming yourself for it.One of the most important shifts I made in my own healing was realizing that if I had the ability to create so much suffering through the stories I was telling myself, I also had the ability to create greater peace, healing, and freedom. This is not about saying you caused your pain.Pain can come from relationships, rejection, loss, difficult experiences, and the actions of other people. But after the painful experience, our minds often begin attaching meaning to what happened. We may start telling ourselves:“I'm not lovable.”“I'm broken.”“This always happens to me.”“I'll never get past this.”Those thoughts can feel true because they are familiar. But just because you feel something does not mean every story attached to that feeling is true.In this episode, you'll learn:* How to stop suffering emotionally* How to heal yourself by changing your relationship with your thoughts* The difference between pain and ongoing suffering* How to stop reliving painful experiences* How the stories you tell yourself can keep emotional pain alive* Why taking ownership of your healing is not the same as blaming yourself* How to separate what you are feeling from the meaning you are giving it* How to calm your nervous system through a simple breathing practice* How visualization can help you create a small shift toward peace* Why even a 5% or 10% emotional shift can show you that healing is possibleI'll also guide you through a simple exercise you can use to show yourself how you can become the source of your own healing. We talk about why getting older can be one of the most freeing and creative experiences of your life, how to stop living for other people's expectations, and why your 40s might just be the beginning of your most authentic chapter yet. From this conversation, you'll learn:-Why so many of us shrink ourselves to make others comfortable.-How to stop living by other people's expectations.-Why courage is built through small, everyday choices.-How to reconnect with the parts of yourself you've hidden.-Why your 40s can be one of the most creative and empowering seasons of your life.Whether you're approaching 40 or simply longing to feel more like yourself, I hope this conversation reminds you that it's never too late to become who you've been all along.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is back in the spotlight, this time as an egg-freezing influencer. She shares vlogs of herself injecting hormones into her body to prepare her eggs to be harvested and frozen indefinitely. AOC believes that women are not taught enough about their bodies, and her hope is for her journey toward freezing her eggs to be an example of what it looks like to live a full and controlled life. Allie sheds light on the reasons why the process of egg harvesting is not healthy or empowering for women and presents the ethical issues that come with IVF. Allie also explains why AOC's decision to freeze her eggs may not be as politically motivated as it appears, considering the ending of her engagement with Riley Roberts, with whom she was in a relationship with for over 15 years. Allie explains why AOC's actions do not reflect an economic problem, but a cultural problem that elevates the desires of adults over the needs of children. While she is seeking to be relatable, the message and methods AOC is portraying as empowering are, in reality, damaging to women. Allie concludes the episode with a conversation with Laura McDonald and Juliette Williams, two members of the Daughters of the American Revolution; giving an update on the controversy of allowing men identifying as women into the organization. We are bringing this one back — and if you've heard it before, you already know why. This conversation with Jay Shetty is one of those episodes that hits differently depending on where you are in your life, and we have a feeling it's going to land exactly where you need it today.Jay takes us into what it felt like to walk away from a checklist life and say yes to the monastery — and then yes again to leaving it. He talks about the inner voice that starts as a whisper because it's been ignored, and how following it, even when everyone around you thinks you're making the worst decision of your life, is the only way through. We go deep on meditation without the pressure — just two simple questions, morning and night, that can genuinely shift the texture of your day. Jay breaks down the difference between self-awareness, self-liking, and self-love, and why jumping straight to "I love myself" without doing the real work underneath it never sticks. And then there's the moment that stopped us both: you become successful by what you gain, but you become happy by what you lose. Jay unpacks what it means to let go of envy, ego, and the metrics someone else handed you — and why that inner work is the only thing that makes everything else feel worth it.This one is a gift. Jim George is a stillness coach, former animator, and one of the first guests ever to appear on this podcast. He has spent nearly 50 years developing what he calls practical spirituality, a way of working with the mind that requires no doctrine, no dogma, and no special belief system. What it does require is the willingness to get quiet enough to see what is actually there. In this conversation, we return to the most essential territory: the cost of mental noise, the nature of the ego, and what it genuinely means to be present for your own life. What We Dive Into:1. The noise in the mind is not neutral. Every moment spent in a self-generated narrative about the past or future is a moment you were not actually there. At the end of a life of that, Jim says, there is a strange vacuum.2. The drive for status was not a character flaw. It was, quite literally, a matter of life and death for our ancestors. Understanding that gives you room to stop being run by it. When you see the mechanism clearly, competition can begin to evolve into something closer to cooperation, which Jim argues is the actual path forward for the species.3. Gratitude is not a feeling you perform. It is focused attention on what already is, and it shifts your neurochemistry from dopamine-driven wanting toward something more stable. In this episode of the Get Obsessed podcast, Dr. Nicki Monti joins Julie Lokun and Mika Altidor to share how childhood trauma, addiction, and the search for self-love shaped both her life and her decades of helping others heal. An experienced therapist, author, and speaker, she draws on both professional expertise and personal experience to challenge the stories that keep people stuck. Drawing from more than four decades of sobriety, Dr. Nicki explores core wounds, emotional defenses, authenticity, and self-worth. She also reflects on caring for her late husband, working with public figures, and why healing begins by replacing old survival stories with the truth. In this episode, we discuss: What inspired Dr. Nicki to use her own life story instead of hiding behind professional credentials Why sobriety marked the beginning of emotional healing rather than the end of addiction How core wounds formed in childhood shape self-worth and lifelong beliefs Why emotional defenses can protect people while quietly preventing genuine connection The process of replacing old beliefs with personal responsibility and lasting emotional change Lessons from working with celebrities and why healing follows the same principles for everyone How projection shapes the way people judge themselves and others ABOUT THE GUEST: Dr. Nicki J. Monti is a licensed marriage, family, and child psychotherapist, author, speaker, and podcast host known for her no-nonsense approach to lasting change. Combining clinical expertise with lived experience, she helps people move beyond limiting stories through compassion, humor, and practical insight. Did Perez Hilton suffer a mental breakdown, or was he possessed by a demon? Allie dives into how the blogger and media personality was hospitalized on August 4 due to severe self-harm and his unstable mental state. Hilton claimed to be a Christian afterward, but some things don't add up. Allie discusses the question of whether or not a believer can be possessed by a demon and if what Perez Hilton is experiencing is demonic possession or the result of living in sin. Allie also looks at Ariana Grande's new music video “Petal,” examining the glorification of gore and her sickly state. Both Hilton and Grande exemplify what life without Christ looks like and show that true healing can only be found in him. Allie also talks about Jackie Oshry, co-host of the podcast “The Toast,” who made her appearance on second lady Usha Vance's podcast promoting her new children's book, despite receiving a lot of backlash. Conversely, Nara Smith disowned her "tradwife" persona that made her who she is during an appearance on “Call Her Daddy.” Allie also answers a voicemail asking about first-time obedience. Ron sits in the host's chair to share some good news! A pro-life protester has been pardoned by President Trump, and the Trump administration has changed how protesters will be prosecuted using the FACE Act in the future. Next, Ron highlights a surprising poll showing that Americans want to finish the job in Iran. Ron details the contradictions in Anthony Fauci's journal, as he pleaded the Fifth more than 100 times while testifying before Congress. Ron also takes a look at Francesca Hong, the socialist who will likely be the Democratic nominee for Wisconsin's gubernatorial race, while Ron exposes that there's no difference between the DSA and communists. Finally, Ron answers some viewer questions on the Kids Online Safety Act, SAVE America Act, tithing, Christian parenthood, the affordability crisis, and more. Do you have a question for Ron? Allie is joined by William Allen, the author of “Not Man Enough to Be a Woman,” who lived as a trans-identifying woman for 30 years. William talks about his feelings dating back to his childhood and his eventual decision to live as “Maggie.” However, as time passed, he came face-to-face with the LGBTQ movement, which he saw as far more sexually driven and attention-seeking than anything he ever desired. His life took a turn when he encountered the real gospel after a family tragedy and realized he needed to live as the William that God created. Do you have a question for Allie? Allie addresses the heartbreaking story of a Massachusetts mother, Lindsay Clancy, who murdered her three young children in 2023. Lindsay was on multiple SSRIs and other psychiatric medications to help with her postpartum depression; the question of whether or not Lindsay is legally responsible for the murder of her children surrounds the case. Allie looks at what the prosecution and the defense are arguing and digs into the problem with SSRIs; how they are being pushed on women before, during, and after pregnancy. However, even considering her mental struggles, Lindsay still displayed deliberate premeditation and cruelty that needs to be taken seriously. Allie also looks at the popularity and normalization of autism and antidepressants on TikTok as well as how “imposter syndrome” forgoes opportunities to grow. Do you have a question for Allie? Allie is joined by Catherine Herring, an abortion pill survivor. When Catherine announced her third pregnancy, her husband's strange and negative reaction quickly escalated into something far more sinister. He began obsessively pushing her to stay hydrated while secretly grinding abortion pills into her drinks, nearly ending both her life and their unborn daughter's. After a terrifying ER visit and multiple poisoning attempts, Catherine hired a private investigator whose shocking discovery — and hidden-camera evidence — changed everything. Hear Catherine's harrowing yet redemptive story of survival, justice, and her fight to protect other women. Allie examines the growing divide on the Right over Guy Benson's announcement of his second child born via surrogacy, highlighting the tension between celebrating “conservative” gay voices and the reality that intentionally creating motherless or fatherless children violates God's design for the family. She breaks down research showing the disadvantages faced by children raised without both a mom and a dad, pushes back against the “family diversity myth,” and shares why normalizing surrogacy, IVF for same-sex couples, and same-sex marriage undermines conservatism and harms kids. Allie also addresses the dangerous cultural push to delay motherhood into the 40s popularized by Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman, exposing the fertility risks and heartbreak many women are now experiencing after putting career first.
