I'm gonna be the person that I'm made to be, born to be.” “Resilience is simply just the absence of negative effects of trauma.” “What's on the other side of your pain is so much better than you could possibly imagine.” “The caterpillar cannot fly if it doesn't struggle to work its way out of the cocoon. That's how it becomes strong enough to spread those wings and fly.” “Being resilient doesn't mean that you weren't affected. It means there's no lasting effect.” “We have far bigger opportunities for growth after we've shattered than we would have had we been resilient to start with.” “The world breaks everyone, but some are strong at the broken places.” “When it comes to learning, you don't learn a thing if you do something right, because you already knew how to do it. The only time you have the opportunity to learn is when you fail.” “The shattering is not the end of the story. The shattering is an opportunity.” “God will do whatever it takes to get us where He wants us to be.” “There is a time in everyone's life when you will shatter. And if you can't think of it, you either haven't gone through it or you're lying to yourself.” BOOKS MENTIONED: CURED: The Life-Changing Science of Spontaneous Healing by Dr. Jeff Rediger (https://a.co/d/hNoqa89) When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress by Dr. Gabor Mate (https://a.co/d/0rRTotc) USEFUL RESOURCES: https://holisticresilience.com/ https://kellygreeneelrodtherapy.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellygreene-holisticresilience/ https://www.instagram.com/kellygreene.me/ https://www.facebook.com/kellygreene.holisticresilience https://www.facebook.com/kelly.greene.elrod CONNECT WITH JOHN Website - https://iamjohnhulen.com    Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/johnhulen    Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/johnhulen    X - https://x.com/johnhulen    LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnhulen    YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLX_NchE8lisC4NL2GciIWA    EPISODE CREDITS Intro and Outro music provided by Jeff Scheetz - https://jeffscheetz.com/

Today I am sharing an important conversation with one of my primary herbal teachers, about the micro and macro views of health and healing. Modern life too often disassociates us from our innate identity and relationship with our greater ecosystem, biome, and planet. Herbal medicine, when practiced deeply and mindfully, goes beyond a simplistic replacement of conventional medicine with "natural" remedies, but moves us sometimes subtly and sometimes profoundly toward a recovery of our biological identities. The human body has the innate power to heal itself. Without this power to self heal, even the most advanced medications and surgical procedures would ultimately fail. The role of the herbalist in the healing process is to consider the client as a whole person, and to consult her/him/them concerning changes in lifestyle, diet, herbs, and supplementation in order to foster an increased state of balance and health - thus maximizing the body's self healing capabilities. Herbal medicine is not only the people's medicine, it is the planet's medicine. While we celebrate the increasing popularity of using herbs, we need to ensure herbal traditions remain true to our roots and accessible to all. Richard Mandelbaum RH is a clinical herbalist with a private practice, offering personalized health consultations, online and in person in the southern Catskills, NY. Richard has been an avid student of our native flora for close to forty years, and in addition to seeing clients he teaches classes in clinical herbal medicine, field botany, and phytochemistry. He is a co-founder and core instructor at the ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism and is on the faculty at David Winston's Center for Herbal Studies and the Won Institute of Graduate Studies. He has been a Registered Herbalist since 2003 and was a member of the American Herbalists Guild board of directors from 2012 to 2018. Richard lives with his wife Gabrielle and his daughter Rose in their straw bale home in Forestburgh, NY. In this episode of the Style and Stewardship podcast, Cher, a certified holistic nutritionist, discusses the confusion surrounding lab results and how they can often lead to frustration for individuals who feel unwell despite receiving 'normal' results. She explains how lab ranges are created based on statistical data from the entire population, which includes individuals who may not be in optimal health. Cher emphasizes the importance of understanding the difference between normal and optimal health ranges and encourages listeners to take proactive steps in their wellness journey If you have labs that you need clarity on Cher supports clients by reviewing their labs from a holistic perspective and gives lifestyle, supplement support (if appropriate), and dietary approaches to support optimal health. TakeawaysLab results can be misleading if they fall within 'normal' ranges.Normal ranges are based on the entire population, not just healthy individuals.Feeling unwell despite normal lab results is common.Optimal health ranges are narrower and more personalized.Tracking lab results over time helps identify personal health baselines.Lifestyle and nutrition play crucial roles in health optimization. It's important to consult with healthcare providers for personalized advice.Holistic approaches can support overall wellness beyond lab results.Understanding lab ranges can empower individuals in their health journey.Proactive health management is key to feeling better.Work with Me: https://my.practicebetter.io/#/615b0f213980330c58fb3a87/bookings?step=servicesDiscounted High-Quality Supplements https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/styleandstewardship/store-startWebsite: https://styleandstewardship.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@styleandstewardshipKeywordslab results, health confusion, holistic nutrition, optimal health, wellness ranges, inflammation, fatigue, digestive concerns, health stewardship, nutrition strategies

Been curious about menstrual cups? Join in this insightful discussion as Sivaranjani Ganapathy shares her decade-long experience, revealing not just the ease and comfort (say goodbye to rashes and hello to tummy-sleeping freedom!), but also a less-talked-about aspect: how menstrual cups can sometimes show changes in your period blood.Sivaranjani Ganapathy's health journey has been deeply personal and transformative. She was diagnosed with PCOD and faced unexplained infertility, undergoing conventional treatments for two years. These included follicular studies (both with and without medications), failed IUI procedures, and ultimately being offered IVF as the only remaining option.A miscarriage following a spontaneous conception became a pivotal moment—it showed her that conception was possible, but sustaining the pregnancy was the challenge. This insight led her to shift her approach. By tuning into her body and trusting its signals, she was able to conceive naturally—twice—without medical intervention. The process required deep unlearning and working through emotional trauma. Today, Sivaranjani is dedicated to helping other women reconnect with their bodies, release emotional stagnation, and realign with their feminine energy to support healthy menstruation and enhance fertility.Dive deep into the concept of "stagnation" – that darker period blood and clots – and explore practical, gentle methods to encourage healthy flow. Discover:Simple Self-Care Rituals: Learn step-by-step instructions for a gentle uterus massage you can do at home (when not on your period!) to support healthy circulation. The Power of Castor Oil Packs: Uncover how castor oil packs can be a powerful tool for addressing stagnation (with important considerations if you're planning pregnancy!).Easy Acupressure Points: Find out specific acupressure points on your hands that you can gently press or use with magnets or seeds to support your uterus and ovaries. The Liver Connection: Understand the surprising role your liver plays in period health and learn a simple acupressure point to support liver detoxification. But this isn't just about the physical! Explore the fascinating connection between your emotions and your menstrual cycle. Discover how:Unprocessed Emotions: Anger, frustration, fear, and deeply held patterns of shame or the need for validation can manifest as period discomfort and stagnation.Chakra Insights: Get a brief introduction to the chakra system and how imbalances in your root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras can be linked to physical issues.A Quick Chakra Check-in: Participate in a simple color association exercise to gain potential insights into which energy centers might need your attention. If you've tried everything for period issues without lasting relief, this episode encourages you to consider the often-overlooked emotional landscape. Learn about simple practices like guided meditations, frequency music, journaling, and bodywork that can support emotional release and positively impact your period health.Plus, get valuable insights into maintaining a healthy vaginal microbiome, especially if you're using menstrual cups or on a fertility journey. Discover signs of imbalance and simple ways to support your vaginal flora through probiotics.Whether you're a long-time menstrual cup user, struggling with period discomfort, or curious about the holistic connection between your body and emotions, this episode offers practical tips and a fresh perspective on nurturing your cycle.Connect with Sivaranjani Ganapathy:Instagram:

Dr. Nicole flies solo to unpack the overlooked root causes behind pet health issues, especially in dogs. She shares personal stories, challenges conventional veterinary practices, and empowers pet owners to seek deeper answers beyond quick fixes and invasive procedures. Nicole highlights how environmental toxins, outdated norms, and fear-driven decisions are at the core of chronic pet conditions, and she offers practical, holistic approaches for truly vibrant animal health.   #HolisticPetCare #RootCauseHealing #IntegrativeHealth #PetWellness #VibrantPets #BeyondConventional #ToxinFreePets #EmpoweredPetOwners #FunctionalMedicine #HealthyDogs   3 Key Takeaways: Root Causes Over Band-Aids: Chronic pet issues like ear infections, eye irritation, and paw licking often stem from environmental toxins and not just bacteria or fungus—address the source, not just the symptoms. Question the Norms: Mainstream pet care advice (kibble, excessive meds, unnecessary surgeries) is often profit-driven and outdated. There's a better way—trust your intuition and don't be afraid to go against the grain. Holistic, Proactive Pet Care: What works for human health applies to pets—think clean food, filtered water, toxin binders, and alternative therapies like homeopathy and red light therapy. Build a support network of holistic vets and always get a second opinion before resorting to drastic treatments.    Quotes:  “Less is more, people. We've been fed so much bullshit about how to protect our dogs—it's all driven by fear and really bad science.” “Don't normalize things just because your environment tells you this is the norm—there are plenty of other parts of the world where it is completely not the norm.   Find Integrative You Radio On: Website Youtube  Apple Spotify   2 Doctors Committed to Innovating the Healthcare Experience. Dr. Jack shares that, when he gets to a Parkinsons patient early enough, he can help prolong progression of the disease, how he's helped epileptic patients minimize their seizures, and how much better the brain works on a KETO diet.Moving on, Dr. Jack dives into RFK Jr.'s removal of every member of a scientific committee that advises the CDC and pledged to replace them with his own picks, foods banned in Europe but not the US, why more than half of the American population are overweight, and the importance of safe vaccines.Last, and certainly not least, Doug and Dr. Jack cover supplements linked to liver damage, but often times it falls down to how it's processed. Many of these supplements — like ashwagandha, turmeric, green tea, garcinia cambogia, and red yeast rice — have been known for hundreds-thousands of years to be very restorative to the human body and part of the backbone of Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese medicine. This podcast episode delves into the often-overlooked topic of perimenopause, a transitional phase that affects women prior to reaching menopause. We engage in a profound discussion with our guest, Amita, who shares her personal experiences and insights on navigating this complex stage of life. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding the physiological and emotional changes women undergo during perimenopause, and how these can impact their professional and personal lives. We highlight the necessity for increased awareness and open dialogue surrounding this significant life transition, advocating for a supportive environment both at home and in the workplace. By fostering education and understanding, we aim to empower individuals to navigate these changes with confidence and resilience.Takeaways: The perimenopause phase is often misunderstood, and women's experiences during this time can be profoundly impacted by hormonal changes. Education and open communication about perimenopause are essential for both women and their partners to navigate this complex transition. Women must prioritize self-care during perimenopause, incorporating holistic therapies, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle changes to manage symptoms effectively. It is crucial to normalize conversations surrounding perimenopause, as many women feel shame and guilt, leading to a lack of support during this significant life phase. The symptoms of perimenopause can vary significantly among women and include irregular periods, hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and emotional changes. Holistic approaches and expert consultations are vital in addressing the multifaceted challenges women face during the perimenopausal transition. Links referenced in this episode:nourishdoc.com
