That's why I don't like the idea of always being confident to take action. How can you be confident if you've never done the thing before? Confidence is the result of action, not the fuel of action." - Akshay Nanavati No Emotion Is Either Good or Bad "There's no bad emotions, there's no good emotions, there's only emotions. It's the label of bad, the assignment of the judgment of the emotion that causes more problems than the emotion itself. The second you accept the "isness" of the emotion and become aware of it without deeming it bad, then you can use any emotion as fuel to drive you into something better." - Akshay Nanavati The Power of Nature "Nature makes you realize how small you are, but at the same time, you feel all powerful out there because simply by stepping in that playground to control your reality, to be there, to survive, to thrive out there, you feel more powerful than you've ever felt. It's an experience of both control and surrender, and  ego and humility" - Akshay Nanavati Links From Today's Show  Akshay Nanavati FEARVANA: The Revolutionary Science of How to Turn Fear into Health, Wealth and Happiness by Akshay Nanavati Dave Asprey Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl BREATHE: Breath & Wellness Program - 33% off with code "PODCAST33" 410 Mark Divine | Positive Neurodiversity: Kokoro Spirit, The 5 Mountains For Inner Peace, & How To Fulfill Your Potential Black Hawk Down Braveheart 411 Gay Hendricks | The Genius Zone: The Breakthrough Process to End Negative Thinking and Live in True Creativity Finding Joe 565 Pavel Stuchlik | Connecting Back With Spirit: Dark Retreats, Iboga + EMF Detox (Your Guide To Self-Transformation) The Green Mile Akshay Nanavati on The Dr. Drew Podcast Akshay Nanavati: Find strength in fear 589 Alex Charfen | The Freedom Life: How To Program Yourself For Success In Mind, Body, Spirit + Soul 201 Finding Mastery: Micheal Gervais Support Akshay's journey The Hero's Journey: Joseph Campbell on His Life and Work by Joseph Campbell 555 Mike Dillard | Richer Every Day: How To WIN The War on Your Money + Mind Josh's Trusted Products | Up To 40% Off Shop All Products Biohacking BREATHE - 33% off with the code “PODCAST33” SaunaSpace - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" PLUNGE - $150 off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE" SiPhox - 10% off with code "JOSH" BON CHARGE - 15% off with the code "JOSH15" SpectraSculpt - 15% off with the code "JOSH15" Defender Shield - Save 10% with "TRENT10" Neuvana - Save 15% with "WELLNESSFORCE" Supplements Organifi - 20% off with the code ‘WELLNESSFORCE' MANNA Vitality - 20% off with the code "JOSH20" LiftMode - Save 10% with "JOSH10" Adapt Naturals - 15% off with code "WELLNESSFORCE" MitoZen - 10% off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” Activation Products - 20% off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” BiOptimizers - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" Lightbody Total Eye Health - 20% off with "JOSH20" at checkout. Since then, by embracing his demons, he has built a global business, run many ultramarathons including a 24-hour run and 167-mile run across Liberia to help build a school, spent 10 days in darkness and isolation, skied 350 miles across the world's 2nd largest icecap for a month and become 1 of only 26 people to ski up a remote glacier in Antarctica. Despite 4 biological defects including a blood disorder that 2 doctors told him would kill him in boot camp, he is now a sponsored athlete and is currently training for a 110-day, 1700-mile, solo, never-before-accomplished crossing of Antarctica. Combining his life experience with years of research in science and spirituality, he wrote the book “Fearvana," about which the Dalai Lama said, “Fearvana inspires us to look beyond our own agonizing experiences and find the positive side of our lives.” All the profits from the book are going toward charity. Akshay is now on a mission to help our human family fall in love with suffering in order to create a life of greater meaning, purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Ep 61 RealityBits #6 Seeing All Life As Sacred Welcome back to another RealityBites! In this bite sized episode we continue to explore the work of this time - the inner work of self exploration The life long dedication of the spiritual journey and the form it takes in your life How can we use the challenges, the ups and downs of life to evolve How to see all of life as being sacred The Hero's Journey: Joseph Campbell on His Life and Work is a biography of the mythologist Joseph Campbell.  The individuation process we go through What is the hero's journey? The threshold and the beginning of transformation Challenges, temptations and setbacks towards a transformation The process of the known into the unknown and coming back to self I see the hero's journey as coming back to self, to wholeness to reclaim those parts of ourselves we have disowned or disconnected from Wholeness is synonymous with “holiness” a state of being whole  Covered up by our trauma, shame guilt, loss and heartache Leaning into the discomfort In some ways the reclamation is coming back to source your divine nature  Its making the unconscious , conscious as Carl Jung said We cannot separate or fragment our life story in order to truly heal those parts of ourselves we have disowned as being not good enough or dislike So, can we live our lives in a way that it's all sacred and divine? To see the hardships, the heartaches the losses as equal to the wins, the success and achievements When we hold a coin there is no separation between the heads and tales they are one in the same The ego self identification and separateness  Cultural programming of external gratification and outwardly success at the cost of inner harmony And of course unhealed trauma , the root cause of so much of our suffering, anxiousness and depression Once again suppressed by numbing, distraction, avoidance, unconscious behaviours that drive our lives So we become disembodied -  living our lives in way where we feel something is wrong with us or we need to be fixed A disunity to self…the hero's journey is about integration, coming home to self, back to your true essence  Honouring all aspects of your life and seeing that all as sacred Hey Reality Hub fans! I received two listener emails this week that ripped my heart open. One was struggling with addiction, and the other was devastated by a recent heartbreak. These voicemails reminded me of why I started my podcast in the first place, so I decided to record this episode. It is a love letter to the person at rock bottom. The person who is so heartbroken, they feel like they can't go on—the person questioning if they even want to be on this earth anymore. Through the words of authors who have inspired me and gotten me through my own dark times, it is my hope that this episode can be a light in the darkness. If it inspires just one person to keep fighting, it will have all been worth it.

Style can be a powerful vehicle for personal expression and your wardrobe can make a lot of difference to boost your confidence to make you feel like a million-dollar woman.  Our guest in today's episode of Live Your Dream Awake is Annie Francesca, best known as the Reinvention Stylist, who in her 50s after having been diagnosed with incurable cancer, found her own version of Dorothy's sparkly red shoes through a midnight blue, sparkly sequined, skin-tight pair of pants. Long story short, she is now cancer-free and she helps career and businesswomen reinvent their lives whether they came from a failed marriage, been through a financial setback, or over a chronic illness, and to make that shift starting with their wardrobe. Be inspired as you listen to this episode!  This week's tip is to help you enhance prosperity in your life. How will you do it? You write a check to yourself from the universe for the amount of money that you'd like to attract into your life. You might think it is a little bit crazy but it did work for Jim Carrey and countless other people that I know. So all you have to do is write a check to yourself from the universe for the amount of money that you want to attract into your life and place it somewhere special. REMEMBER - "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it because it is totally working." This week's feng shui tip is to clear your clutter.  Do you have excess clutter in your home or do you have areas in your home with things that do not represent where you are going in your life? If so, it's time to have a chance to clear them out and let them go. A cluttered home represents being stuck in life, but also can cause you to hold on to an extra few pounds of weight. So if you want to shift a few extra pounds of weight and you wanna start moving forward in your life with flow and ease, it's time to start decluttering.   HIGHLIGHTS OF WHAT WE COVER DURING THIS EPISODE: An introduction of self and why Annie became known as “The Reinvention Stylist? How did Annie's fashion style evolve? (...Has she been into style ever since?) When did Annie Francesca start helping women with fashion? What is this superhero cape idea with clothes? What are Annie's insights on second-hand stores, consignment stores, and thrift shops?   The right question to ask yourself - What clothes can I put on, can I wear that will change my energy? Sometimes people assume their leaders have all the answers, at least, until they become the leader. Then they realize that there is a lot of fear, uncertainty, and doubt that can go along with being the person in charge. Marc Pitman puts a unique twist on that doubt that can often plague leaders, business people, and entrepreneurs. He actually believes that we can use the gift of doubt and uncertainty to step into the role of the leader that we are meant to be.    Marc is the author of Ask Without Fear and The Surprising Gift of Doubt. In this conversation, we explore some of the concepts that support Marc's insights behind the gift of doubt. We explore how doubt can be a catalyst that forces us to find and create our own answers. We explore the four quadrants that take us through this process. We also talk about the significance of personality assessments, stories and sources of motivation.   He is an executive coach and speaker, and the founder of The Concord Leadership Group where he has been leading organizations and teams for decades. He's been studying leadership for over 30 years. Marc has a Masters in Organizational Leadership and is certified as a Franklin Covey coach. His passion, knowledge, and wit shine through in this lively interview.    And be sure to subscribe to The Self-Employed Life in Apple podcasts or follow us on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts so you don't miss an episode.   Everything you need can all be found at jeffreyshaw.com    Marc Pitman thank you so much for being here!   Remember, you might be in business FOR yourself but you are not in business BY yourself.  Be your best self. [03:04] Doubt can invite you to create your own answers.  [07:31] Doubt means that we're on the edge of greatness. When we start out with the leader's journey, we may fail trying to copy others and eventually discover our own answers.  [10:30] In Marc's book, The Gift of Doubt, he talks about the four quadrants.  [11:47] Quadrant one is the confident external quadrant. This is where you model people who you've seen do what you are trying to do. [12:56] Quadrant two is where you start to experiment. A lot of people get stuck in this quadrant, because they don't want to look for internal answers. [15:25] Many people have the answers they need, they just discredit themselves too easily. [17:42] Quadrant three includes some level of vulnerability when realizing where you must go. This is when you step beyond your doubt. Anchoring in. [23:39] Doubt is more self-referential where uncertainty can be externally focused. Leaders know the non-negotiables. [26:39] Quadrant four is where you take internal and external cues and learn to guide people. You have a view of the whole map, and you're able to navigate to where you want to go. [31:38] The influence of personality assessments depends on where you are in your journey.  [34:38] Know the strengths of your motivation.  [36:41] The stories that you tell yourself and the stories that you feel attracted to can be another angle of motivation for you. We had the absolute pleasure of having Brian North in the studio with us today. Brian is the Founder and CEO of North & Co., a Phoenix based residential real estate firm and one of the best in the business. Considered an industry influencer, Brian is a regular speaker at local and national industry events. It's our honor to welcome him as our first guest, and we had the chance to cover a number of subjects with him.   On Achieving Success in Real Estate:   Brian achieved great success but found he was devoting so much time to maintaining that success he wasn't enjoying anything else in life. “I love going on listing appointments, but I don't do them anymore because I love hanging out with my kids more.” Building a team that could help him further that success, rather than micromanaging every minute, helped him find what was important in life.   Building an effective team that benefits all parties:   Brian calls it ‘Holding the future in the palm of our hand.' Each agent that works with North&Co. might have different motivations for being in the business, and understanding those motivations make the biggest impact on everyone's success. If an agent wants to make a million dollars, well, we do too! But if an agent wants to make enough to pay for their kid's education, that might require a different path to success that would need to be understood. This also relates to that classic Thinking OTB idea of “Know who you are and know who you aren't.”   Figure out what you want out of your brokerage as an agent:   We all like to talk about splits and what is going to benefit ourselves the most. But before we have that conversation, we need to understand what it is we want out of the relationships we enter into. Is it a dollar amount or the potential and value of professional development that will get us to where we want to be? “(Being a part of this team), it's understanding the value of the investment in the opportunity to do things that are outside the box and not the norm.” – Steve     The current state of the market and where it's going:   If the market was the weather, we would be in a drought. In this type of market, we're going to see widgets and new strategies thrive, like do-it-yourself applications like Zillow. That might work now, but eventually the market is going to turn and negotiation is going to be more important than ever. “There's a whole generation of people who are used to doing things themselves, who see less value in the human and more value in the technology.” Agents need to be able to speak to a high touch high value model, to help people when they have a horrible DIY experience and wish someone human had helped them.   Brian also shared some views on personal development, being the person we want to be, and some deeper emotional subjects that the last year has brought into focus.   Books Mentioned:   Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss https://amzn.to/3quk0vK   How to See by Thich Nhat Hanh https://amzn.to/3qrpwPB    Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss https://amzn.to/2Nt82nt    Bluefishing by Steve Sims https://amzn.to/3dnZ2et    The Art of War by Sun Tzu https://amzn.to/3diodPe    Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari https://amzn.to/3qtuMSQ    The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday & Stephen Hanselman https://amzn.to/3jSsWZm    The Bible https://amzn.to/2ZirUfR    The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran https://amzn.to/3jQv7Nb    Wild at Heart by John Eldredge https://amzn.to/3anYUJI    Power Moves by Adam Grant https://amzn.to/2ZmrZPG    The Hero's Journey: Joseph Campbell on His Life and Work https://amzn.to/2Zly5Qo    Remember to subscribe and leave a 5-star rating, as well as a review if you'd like us to talk about a subject or if you just want to let us know how much you like the podcast!   Follow us on social media!   Brian North: https://www.instagram.com/briancnorth/    Steve Valentine:  https://www.instagram.com/stevedvalentine/    Bernie Espinosa: https://www.instagram.com/bernzpix/

Welcome to another live stream episode of Wednesday Evenings with Leon! Today I am going to talk about the most powerful persuasion tool that you can use to market your business. I will also be telling stories about entrepreneurs who I’ve helped, one having zero sales in six months to getting her first sales by just following my advice.  What am I talking about - STORIES! Stories invoke emotions, it invokes culture and it invokes so much of what makes us human. It is important that the message you want to come across must tell a story, it must have a narrative. Enjoy listening!  Here are a few insights you’ll hear in today’s show… What is the most POWERFUL form of persuasion known to man? Why Stories? (because it is effective, they inspire, they teach, they influence…)    Learn the 3-part structure of how you should tell your story.  How to turn testimonials into your stories?  If you want to grow your business in the next 90 days, Leon will be launching a new program, which is an 8-week coaching program plus online courses, the gates are open! Success Quotes: "One of the main reasons stories are so good is that they are one of the most powerful forms of persuasion known to humans."  "You're waiting for something to be perfect, but actually there are more people out there who need information not to be perfect, but to be more powerful, authentic and filled with the value they need to help them go to the next level.” "Focus all of your efforts not on creating something that's perfect right now, but on creating an offer that people can buy right now." "The more that you get into understanding how to use stories in your business, the more that you will actually sell and connect with your audience." Emileena Pedigo: The Show Goes On Productions produces concerts and events that embrace emerging trends in entertainment. In-house projects focus on early-stage development: building a brand and strategic mapping for artists. In addition to artist showcases, TSGO presents performances merging music and theatre in innovative and immersive environments. Other programming includes development courses for creative business leaders in the Arts that are aimed toward changing current models proven ineffective for artists. TSGO also offers consulting and performance coaching for raw talent, be it in the Arts or Business. *Gig mentality: *It's every artist's dream to create the work they love while also making a bunch of money. And while art has never been an optimal path for wealth creation, there has never been a better time to make money as an artist. Artist Sustainability: In this piece we explore why artists with lofty goals of making music their full time career are so often brought down by their ambitions, and how artists can better advance their position in the industry through setting a series of achievable goals and focusing on career sustainability. *Zen: *(Chinese: 禪; pinyin: Chán; Japanese: 禅, romanized: zen; Korean: 선, romanized: Seon; Vietnamese: Thiền) is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that originated in China during the Tang dynasty, there known as the Chan School (Chánzong 禪宗) and later developed into various schools. It was strongly influenced by Taoist philosophy, especially Neo-Daoist thought, and developed as a distinct school of Chinese Buddhism. From China, Chán spread south to Vietnam and became Vietnamese Thiền, northeast to Korea to become Seon Buddhism, and east to Japan, becoming Japanese Zen. *Taoism: *Daoism (/ˈdaʊɪzəm/, /ˈtaʊ-/), or Taoism (/ˈdaʊ-/), is a philosophical or religious tradition of Chinese origin which emphasises living in harmony with the Dao (Chinese: 道; pinyin: Dào; literally: 'the Way', also romanized as Tao). The Dao is a fundamental idea in most Chinese philosophical schools; in Daoism, however, it denotes the principle that is the source, pattern and substance of everything that exists. Daoism differs from Confucianism by not emphasising rigid rituals and social order, but is similar in the sense that it is a teaching about the various disciplines for achieving "perfection" by becoming one with the unplanned rhythms of the universe called "the way" or "dao". Daoist ethics vary depending on the particular school, but in general tend to emphasise wu wei (action without intention), "naturalness", simplicity, spontaneity, and the Three Treasures: 慈 "compassion", 儉 "frugality", and 不敢為天下先 "humility". *Gratitude journal: *Gratitude is like most desirable traits and qualities in that it is usually not enough to simply decide to be grateful—we must actively practice it to cement its place in our lives. *Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey: *Joseph Campbell, arguably the greatest mythologist of the twentieth century, was certainly one of our greatest storytellers. This masterfully crafted book interweaves conversations between Campbell and some of the people he inspired, including poet Robert Bly, anthropologist Angeles Arrien, filmmaker David Kennard, Doors drummer John Densmore, psychiatric pioneer Stanislov Grof, Nobel laureate Roger Guillemen, and others. Campbell reflects on subjects ranging from the origins and functions of myth, the role of the artist, and the need for ritual to the ordeals of love and romance. With poetry and humor, Campbell recounts his own quest and conveys the excitement of his lifelong exploration of our mythic traditions, what he called “the one great story of mankind.” *Opportunity Mindset: *Scarcity mindset is the state of believing that what you want is in limited supply. That you will never have enough of that thing. *Jon Arons - "Fashion" HD (Official): *A Black Mirror-ish music video about our phones becoming our brains! Making the Journey In this episode, Rob takes us through what inspires a journey and how the challenges shape the ultimate success.   It is also revealed that we will soon be able to listen to an interview with a young footballer who is realising his dreams as a footballer following a journey that has involved overcoming considerable challenges.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Levels of success take work and effort, if you are doing something you love you will want to get better. We all need to find the thing that we are passionate about. The thing that when we engage with it we get that ‘I was born to do this’ feeling.   In order to get great at something, we have to do great work. It requires that we focus and practise in that zone where we are stretching ourselves.   We all start with a vision, hope or dream and we believe.   We don’t know what we will face on the journey towards our dream but it’s how we deal with that adversity and how we face those challenges.   The challenges are there to help us see contrast and grow positively towards what we want to achieve.   No matter what it is you're doing or how things are going, take a step out to gain some perspective and see that it’s a journey and within the journey, there is no right and wrong because until we personally give up there is no endpoint.   If we make the decision to take to one more step whether it’s today or tomorrow the journey goes on.     BEST MOMENTS ‘It’s actually completing the journey that is the victory’   ‘Full effort equals full victory’   ‘We have to find what it is that we love’   ‘Success is giving everything you’ve got and letting the results take care of themselves’   ‘If we believe that we can try something else, none of us knows what the outcome will be’     VALUABLE RESOURCES Deep Work – Cal Newport: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deep-Work-Focused-Success-Dist   Mastery – George Leonard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastery-Keys-Success-Long-Term-Fulfillment-ebook/dp/B01ND0X91Y   The Hero’s Journey – Joseph Campbell: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Heros-Journey-Joseph-Campbell-Collected/dp/1608681890   Brian Johnson: https://www.optimize.me/about-brian/   ABOUT THE HOST Rob Ryles is a UEFA A licensed coach with a League Managers Association qualification and a science and medicine background. In the famous book, The Hero's Journey, it talks about somebody being unprepared, facing a challenge, having to train, and then coming back home and realizing it is home, with a new set of eyes. That's a pretty common theme in martial arts, and that's no exception with today's guest, Mike Lee.   Mike Lee teaches Tat Wong Kung Fu and has been training in it since 13. He's even gone on to compete nationally and internationally and now has his own martial arts school, One Tribe Martial Arts Academy.   At Mike's school, they teach a wide range of students — their youngest being three years old, and their oldest being 82! They run seven days a week with unlimited classes and teach traditional Kung Fu and Chinese kickboxing, as well as lion dancing.   In today's episode, Mike talks about his school; how and why he originally got into the martial arts; the principles of the style he teaches; the important virtues at his school; how martial arts has impacted him, personally and professionally; and his ideas around building a sense of community, both in class and through social media.   Key Takeaways: [:45] About today's guest, Mike Lee. Jeffrey's premise:  "There is one human experience above all others that resides at the crux of a meaningful life, of meaningful relationships, and of meaningful and challenging work. It resides at the impulse to make something novel, useful, and beautiful: wonder."What is the key ingredient of a meaningful life? As entrepreneurs, we are called to create—to make something novel, useful, and beautiful. That impulse is wonder. And if we can reframe our work as a quest and approach each day with openness and curiosity, new possibilities emerge.  This season on Tracking Wonder we are exploring the creative entrepreneur’s quest for meaningful work, asking ourselves:   How can we face challenges with less worry and more wonder?  How can we convert pain into purpose?  How can we get the right stuff done without burning out?  Today, Jeffrey introduces us to the theme of this season at Tracking Wonder through the story of world-renowned author Haruki Murakami. Jeffrey recreates the unique moment when Murakami got the idea to write his first novel—during a baseball game. We explore the gap between idea and action, exploring the true meaning of flow and what it takes to pursue your quest day in and day out. Jeffrey discusses the idea of ikigai, explaining how the human impulse to create facilitates a meaningful life. Listen in for insight around the role of curiosity in the twenty-first century and learn how wonder can help us see people, problems and possibilities in fresh ways.  Key Takeaways  [1:27] The theme of this season at Tracking Wonder  Explore creative entrepreneur’s quest for meaningful work  [2:56] The story of Haruki Murakami  Idea to write novel came at baseball game  Uses distance running as training for writing  Regarded as most influential living novelist   [6:21] How to advance your own best ideas  Reframe as daily quest  Requires sustained focus  Face voluntary challenges (flow)  Risk for something greater than self  [10:22] The human experience that facilitates a meaningful life  Impulse to create something  Childlike curiosity, wonder  [13:39] How wonder dissolves cynicism  See people, problems in fresh ways  Connect with Jeffrey Tracking Wonder Tracking Wonder on Facebook Jeffrey on Twitter Jeffrey on Instagram Jeffrey on LinkedIn Resources Haruki Murakami Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi The Hero’s Journey: Joseph Campbell on His Life and Work by Joseph Campbell Melvin Konnor Joi Ito A special thanks to the early supporters of the Tracking Wonder Podcast.
