This film is the 3rd and supposedly final film in the “Venom” trilogy following the 2018 & 2021 previous films. Sony made it official as the 5th film in their “Spider Man” Universe films which included the 2 “Spier Man” films starring Andrew Garfield. This film was directed by Kelly Marcel and sees Tom Hardy return to the title character and is joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Clark Backo & Alanna Ubach. A few recurring characters return including Stephen Graham & Peggy Lu. Andy Serkis also joins this film in a voice over role. Serkis directed the previous “Venom” film. Rhys Ifans is also in this film but not as his “Amazing Spider Man” character despite taking place within the same universe. In this film, Eddie Brock and the symbiote known as Venom are framed for the murder of a San Francisco detective and become fugitives. During their run, they also discover that Venom's home planet was destroyed by a dark symbiote who has now coming for Earth. The race is on staying hiding but also stop this invasion at all costs. Kelly Marcel had worked on the previous 2 films but this one marks her directorial debut for any motion picture. Tom Hardy has expressed plans to play Venom again but no further plans have been made as of now. This film hit theaters on October 25, 2024.

Eddie Brock and Venom are back with a choice that could change everything as they're pursued by a relentless military figure and alien monsters from Venom's home planet. Will the duo survive, and what sacrifices must they make along the way? We also review Conclave, a taut thriller directed by Edward Berger and starring Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, and Stanley Tucci. This film brings audiences into the Vatican's hidden corridors as Cardinal Lawrence unearths secrets that threaten the very core of the Catholic Church during a papal election. Next up is Your Monster, directed by Caroline Lindy and starring Melissa Barrera and Tommy Dewey. This unique horror-comedy follows Laura Franco, an actress rediscovering her strength after meeting a strange, charismatic monster living in her closet. For our classic pick, we revisit Agnes of God (1985). Directed by Norman Jewison and starring Jane Fonda, Meg Tilly, and Anne Bancroft, this tense drama pits science and faith against each other in a mystery involving a young nun's shocking secrets. We also discuss Clint Eastwood's courtroom drama "Juror No. 2", as the 94-year-old director reunites Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette for this rumination on justice and truth. Plus, Emma tells us why Tom Hardy's superhero caper "Venom: The Last Dance" is a fun way to wrap up the trilogy under the direction of Kelly Marcel and we check out "Flow", a captivating animation which follows a cat and its animal companions in beautifully rendered landscapes.

Well, here we are. After 6 years, the Venom trilogy has come to a close... for now. Venom: The Last Dance has now hit theaters worldwide and for a long time, I have been very open that I am a big fan of these films because they're just fun! I've also always been a big Tom Hardy fan and these movies just really let him off the leash. As a huge Spider-Man fan though, I can't exactly say that these films' interpretation of Venom is what I always imagined the character to be in live-action, and it still disappoints me that we're still yet to get a truly definitive take on that character onscreen. Does Venom: The Last Dance provide the dumb fun of the previous two entires... or is this surpassingly the worst one yet? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review! Venom: The Last Dance: Directed by: Kelly Marcel Screenplay by: Kelly Marcel Story by: Tom Hardy & Kelly Marcel Based on the Marvel Comics Produced by: Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy, Hutch Parker Executive Producer: Joe Caracciolo Jr. Music by: Dan Deacon Cinematography by: Fabian Wagner Editing by: Mark Sanger Casting by: Bret Howe, Mary Vernieu Production Design by: Sean Haworth, Chris Lowe Costume Design by: Daniel Orlandi Cast: Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach Synopsis: Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.

The first film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), it was directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by the writing team of Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, along with Kelly Marcel. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock and Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. In the film, struggling journalist Eddie gains superpowers after becoming the host of an alien symbiote, Venom, whose species plans to invade Earth. Following Venom's appearance in Spider-Man 3 (2007), Sony Pictures attempted to develop a spin-off film based on the Venom character, which was stalled due to issues with the company's ongoing Spider-Man franchise. In March 2016, work began on a new version that would start a new shared universe featuring the non-Spider-Man Marvel characters that the studio possessed film rights to. Sony also originally intended for the Venom film to share the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), but ultimately distanced the film from Spider-Man. Sony's Columbia Pictures produced the film in association with Marvel Entertainment.[5] In March 2017, Rosenberg and Pinkner were set to write, with Fleischer and Hardy added in May; Marcel subsequently joined to rewrite the script. Filming took place from October 2017 to January 2018 in Atlanta, New York City, and San Francisco. The film was primarily inspired by the comic book miniseries Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) and the story arc "Planet of the Symbiotes" (1995). Ludwig Göransson was hired to compose the film's score, marking his second Marvel film after Black Panther (2018). Venom premiered at the Regency Village Theater on October 1, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 5. Despite receiving generally negative reviews from critics, Hardy's performance and the character's relationship with Venom were praised, and the film became the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2018, earning over $856 million worldwide and setting several box office records for an October release. It is followed by two sequels: Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which was released on October 1, 2021, and Venom: The Last Dance, which is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a 2021 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom. The sequel to Venom (2018) and the second film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), it was directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock and Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Eddie and the alien symbiote Venom must face serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson) after he becomes the host of an offshoot of Venom named Carnage. Venom was intended by Sony Pictures to be the start of a new shared universe, and plans for a sequel began during production on the first film. Harrelson was cast to make a brief appearance as Cletus at the end of Venom, with the intention of him becoming the villain Carnage in the sequel. Official work on the sequel began in January 2019, with Hardy and Harrelson confirmed to return along with Marcel as writer. Serkis was hired as director that August, partly due to his experience working with computer-generated imagery (CGI) and motion capture technology, which was an important part of portraying Venom and Carnage in the film. Filming took place at Leavesden Studios in England from November 2019 to February 2020, with additional filming in San Francisco in February. The title was announced in April 2020. Marco Beltrami was hired to compose the film's score, replacing Ludwig Göransson from the previous film.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a 2021 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and Tencent Pictures. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the second film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe and the sequel to Venom (2018). The film is directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, based on a story she wrote with Tom Hardy who stars as Eddie Brock / Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Brock struggles to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, while serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson) escapes from prison after becoming the host of Carnage, a chaotic spawn of Venom. Venom was intended to be the start of a new shared universe, and plans for a sequel began during production on the first film. Harrelson was cast to make a brief appearance as Kasady at the end of Venom with the intention of him becoming the villain Carnage in the sequel. Official work on the sequel began in January 2019, with Hardy and Harrelson confirmed to return along with Marcel as writer. Serkis was hired as director that August, partly due to his experience working with CGI and motion-capture technology which was an important part of portraying Venom and Carnage in the film. Filming took place at Leavesden Studios in England from November 2019 to February 2020, with additional filming in San Francisco in February. The title was announced in April 2020. The film was primarily inspired by the comic book story arc "Maximum Carnage" (1993) and the 1994 Spider-Man animated series story arc The Venom Saga (1996). Venom: Let There Be Carnage premiered in London on September 14, 2021, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 1, 2021. It was delayed from an initial October 2020 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film has grossed over $352 million worldwide, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of 2021, and received mixed reviews from critics. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/popcorn-junkies/message

On tonight's kick-off episode of SHOCK-tober, Dom is joined once again by old friend and fellow movie critic Dustin "the Duster" Mason to discuss the two releases we got this past weekend: HBO Max's Sopranos prequel "The Many Saints of Newark" and the aptly anticipated "Venom: Let There be Carnage." The Many Saints of Newark is directed by Alan Taylor and written by David Chase and Lawrence Konner. A prequel to Chase's HBO crime drama series The Sopranos, it takes place during the 1960s and 1970s in Newark, New Jersey. The film follows a violent gang war from the perspectives of mobster Dickie Moltisanti, Christopher Moltisanti's father, and his teenage nephew, a young Tony Soprano, in the midst of the city's 1967 riots. It stars Alessandro Nivola as Dickie and Michael Gandolfini as Tony, the character originated by his father in the series, with Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, Michela De Rossi, John Magaro, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga in supporting roles. The film is populated by Sopranos legacy characters, but does the film hold up the legacy of Chase's game changing series? They also cover Venom: Let There be Carnage, the sequel to the surprisingly successful 2018 Venom film, directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Hardy. This time, Andy Serkis hops in the directing chair with a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, based on a story she wrote with Hardy who returns as Eddie Brock / Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Brock tries to reignite his career in journalism by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), who becomes the host of the alien symbiote spawn of Venom, named Carnage. The film was primarily inspired by the comic book story arc "Maximum Carnage" (1993) and animated series story arc The Venom Saga (1996). The film has been delayed several times due to Covid and whether it would actually make money in theaters, and considering the film's made $91 million at the box office, it's safe to say it's made its money back, but is the film actually worth watching? What happens when you take Spider-Man villains and give them their own movie? Apparently, a short run time and lots of comedy to go along with the scary monsters. Cruella is a 2021 American crime comedy-drama film based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians and Disney's 1961 animated film adaptation.[6] The film is directed by Craig Gillespie with a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, from a story by Aline Brosh McKenna, Kelly Marcel, and Steve Zissis.[7] It is the third live-action adaptation in the 101 Dalmatians franchise. Emma Stone stars as the title character, with Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mark Strong in supporting roles. Set in the 1970s London punk rock movement as Estella, an aspiring fashion designer, explores the path that will lead her to become a notorious criminal known as Cruella de Vil. Walt Disney Pictures announced the film's development in 2013, with Andrew Gunn as producer. Stone was cast in 2016 and also serves as an executive producer on the film alongside Glenn Close, who previously portrayed Cruella in the previous live-action adaptations, 101 Dalmatians (1996) and 102 Dalmatians (2000). Principal photography took place between August and November 2019 in England. Cruella premiered in Los Angeles on May 18, 2021, the first major red carpet event since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and was released in the United States theatrically and simultaneously available on Disney+ with Premier Access on May 28. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for Gillespie's direction, the performances (particularly Stone, Thompson, and Hauser), visual style, costume design, and soundtrack, but some criticism for the screenplay. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/popcorn-junkies/message

This week your host Scroobius Pip is joined by none other than his old pal and script/screenwriter Kelly Marcel! A crazy story right here which Kelly unfolds for you, not before she relays how she rescued a fearless but accident prone squirrel and nursed it back to bitey and aggro health...
