$10 Million at 23: From Chasing Top Producers to Becoming One w/ Emilee Mosso

Level Up - From Agent to Entrepreneur

For many new agents, the top producers in the office are intimidating. Their success feels out of reach; it's something you'll never accomplish yourself. But for some agents, those same people are motivating. They're proof that it can be done, and they become the standard to chase.  Emilee Mosso went from wanting to be like those agents to achieving success in her own right. And at 23, she's done $10 million in volume, and this is just the beginning.  How did Emilee turn her goals into a reality? How did she move past some of the places that keep agents stuck?  It starts with showing up before you feel ready, asking for help instead of guessing, and treating every “no” as practice for the next “yes.” In this episode of Level Up, the Century 21 Blackwell agent shares the mindset and approach behind her success. We also unpack how to learn from the right people, move through rejection without losing momentum, and develop the habits that make you a top producer.   In the beginning, you take the no's personally. Now, when someone says no, I just think I'm closer to someone who will tell me yes. -Emilee Mosso   Things You'll Learn In This Episode  Consistency compounds faster than talent How does showing up, especially on the days you don't feel like it, quietly build the kind of momentum that skill alone can't? The hidden advantage in rejection What shifts when “no” stops meaning you failed and starts meaning you're still moving forward? Why agents really fear listings Most agents stay buyers' agents, not because they can't handle listings, but because rejection from a seller feels personal. How do you push through that fear and build real leverage on the other side of it? The value of proximity How much faster can you grow when you surround yourself with people who've already done what you're trying to do?   Guest Bio Emilee Mosso is a licensed North & South Carolina real estate agent at Century 21 Blackwell. Emilee loves listening to people's needs in the real estate market to find a way to best serve them. Serving others is a passion of hers. She serves on the Spartanburg Board of Realtors Governmental Affairs Committee, the Community Service Committee as the Vice Chair, and the Public Relations Committee as the Chair. She is a founding member of South Carolina's Upstate chapter of Women's Council of Realtors. Emilee is also a member of Kiwanis International, where she serves her local Spartanburg Kiwanis club on several committees and as a board member. She is also a team holder for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. Real estate was just a dream for Emilee at the young age of ten. When she heard her parents sharing their criteria, she quickly discovered Zillow, and a real estate fire was lit inside of her, and she has worked to make it come true. Every day, Emilee strives to help someone with the buying or selling process. In 2022, she was awarded the Quality Service Award for her dedication to her clients, as well as the "Rising Star" award. They discussed how important it is to be open and honest with your doctors about any medications you are taking. What you are taking can really affect the outcome of your surgery. Before starting or stopping any medications, you should also speak with your surgeon.  One particular medication that our moderator and his guests spent a great deal of time discussing was the GLP Analogues also known as Ozempic – typically used to attain a desired weight before surgery. What patients may not know is GLP Analogues have an effect on anesthesia. Swelling and bruising is very common following orthopaedic surgery. So, inevitably surgeons are tasked with the question “my knee is swollen, is this normal and what should I do?”  In this podcast, Andrew Scott Murtha, MD a member of the AAHKS Patient and Public Relations Committee sat with Charlie Yoo, MD  and Brian S. Parsley, MD to discuss how they manage the patient’s healing process and their concerns.  As we mentioned, swelling and bruising is inevitable following surgery. It will happen but in the more recent years, about 95 percent of surgeons doing joint replacements are now using the drug tranexamic acid to drastically reduce bleeding during and after surgery. Too much walking or overdoing it immediately after surgery also contributes to swelling. In the podcast, the surgeons recommend you work on getting your range of motion and strength back immediately following surgery and to primarily focus on that.  How long should the swelling last, when to contact your doctor and so many more questions are addressed in this recording. If you are considering a hip or knee replacement, you don’t want to miss this podcast recording.  Enjoy, and thanks for listening to AAHKS Amplified! Doug Wolfberg, Esq., of Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, steps in to discuss leadership lessons from the Beatles and his new book – "Beatles FAB but True." So you really want to avoid that as part of your media strategy and work to develop some transparent and honest information when those tough questions come.” — Alexia Jobson “Anything that you say to a reporter is considered on the record and can be used in a news story.” — Alexia Jobson “Top tips for going on camera: You want to make sure that they are knowledgeable about what they are going to be talking about, you want them to be a willing participant and able to re-frame and be positive about the content they are going to cover.” — Alexia Jobson “It's important for you to just spend a little time looking inside your organization, recognize those important stories that you want to share, and then make sure that you commit some time and resources to building those relationships with your audiences ... having that positive relationship in place will go a long way. And it's also important as a profession that we work together to kind of raise the profile of out of hospital healthcare and EMS.” — Alexia Jobson “Getting out the door, our shoot time is the No. 1 thing that can decrease our response times. It's not driving lights and sirens; it's not driving recklessly or speeding or not obeying the laws ... it's getting out that door quick from the time of dispatch to the time our truck's pulling out of the garage.” — Brian Maloney “When we first started looking at the use of lights and sirens during transport to the hospital, which is right there, that increases our chance of getting in a wreck threefold and so it's very dangerous. When we first started it, we were at 26% of the time using lights and sirens during transport; we're down to almost 2%, for transport to the hospital. For response to calls, we were about 46-48% of the time using lights and sirens; we're down to 7% of the time now.” — Brian Maloney “Antibiotics for sepsis, so a lot of people are fearful of giving antibiotics, and why? Because the hospital says we need to have a culture, a blood culture. Turns out that's not true. If the patient's hypotensive, they're fixing to die, as they say. And we in Palm Beach County can give the antibiotics within 12 minutes of the 911 call. And our own data shows that the hospital is giving antibiotics at 120 minutes. That's a 10-fold difference in that. So, antibiotics for sepsis are, I think, a major item.” — Dr. Peter Antevy “There's a story about how the Beatles had a drummer for a couple of years before Ringo. He wasn't quite the right fit for that band. He's a good drummer. But when they got Ringo in, they took off, right? So, in EMS, we tend to think if somebody has a pulse and a patch, let's hire them or let's bring them in. But we need the right people.” — Doug Wolfberg “Recognize your own limitations, I tell a story about how the Beatles sort of came on hard times when their manager died, but weren't quite wise enough to know what they didn't know. They thought ‘we can manage ourselves,' and so it's to also recognize your limitations and get the skills that you need, if you don't possess them yourself, with your team.” — Doug Wolfberg EPISODE CONTENTS 01:15 – Media management with Alexia Jobson (REMSA) 09:22 – Alexia Jobson interviews Katherine Robillard (LA Office of EMS) 11:37 – Brian Maloney (Plum EMS) talks culture of safety and lights and sirens reduction 20:15 – Dr. Peter Antevy on the five protocol changes you're too afraid to make 23:54 – Doug Wolfberg Esq. Dr. Robynne Chutkan explains how the standard Western diet and our super-sanitized lifestyle are starving our microbes, depleting the “good bugs” that are crucial for keeping us healthy, and encouraging overgrowth of exactly the wrong types of bacteria.         However,  Dr. Chutkan explains, there are effective lifestyle and diet changes we can make to reverse this damage. Find out more here.: https://robynnechutkan.com/anti-viral-gut-master-class/ Dr Chutkan's latest book, The Anti-Viral Gut is a practical plan for strengthening the incredible antiviral defenses located in your gut and resolving symptoms. Multiple studies have now confirmed a dramatic link between the health of our microbiome—the trillions of bacteria that live in our digestive tract—and the strength of our immune system. Low-fiber diets, limited exposure to nature, and overzealous use of pharmaceuticals have messed up our microbiome, making many of us more susceptible to viruses than we naturally should be. But the good news is that unlike our genes, our microbiome is constantly evolving, offering a pathway back to health for those who are suffering, and proven protection for those who want to stay well. In The Anti-Viral Gut, Dr. Robynne Chutkan explains this groundbreaking research and offers a prescriptive plan for anyone trying to avoid or recover from a viral illness to rehab their gut microbes and restore their health. In this powerful road map to strengthening the gut-immune system, Dr. Chutkan gives practical advice for balancing both your internal and external environment by optimizing diet, exercise, sleep, and time outdoors to boost your host defenses and overall health. Know your worth, show your worth, own your worth. Advocacy is a domino effect which starts with you as an individual, which spreads to impact our entire profession. In this episode, Ryan is joined by Alisha M. Pennington, MS, ATC, and they discuss the importance of self-advocacy for ATs and why we must master this concept. What are the potential outcomes of positive self advocacy? What happens if you go about it leading with your "ego"?  In what ways can positive self-advocacy enhance your compensation and your overall outcomes with your job duties? What are some specific strategies to self-advocate, and why must an AT be self-aware of their advocacy to avoid potential pitfalls which build walls instead of bridges.   Alisha is the founder and owner of ATvantage, an athletic training service company, which she started in 2012 after she completed her undergraduate education in athletic training at Florida State University and her masters in Kinesiology at California State University - Fullerton.  She recognized a need for advocacy and education of athletic trainers to potential clients, especially in California where the profession lacks licensure. While growing the company, Alisha has worked with USA Beach Volleyball & USA Water Polo, traveling domestically and internationally, and is an athletic trainer on the television show Biggest Loser. In her education and advocacy efforts, Alisha saw the need to share information in a public capacity, so she started a podcast in 2015 aimed at educating athletic trainers about the intersection of business and athletic training, and now her podcast is a BOC approved provider for CEs, which she gives away for free.  Alisha speaks across the country to students, athletic trainers, and educators about the business aspects of athletic training, including a feature presentation at NATA in 2018 titled “Principles of Per Diem Work: Liabilities & Legalities” which was later published by the NATA as a Best Practices document, with Alisha as a primary author.  An active volunteer in the profession since 2013, she serves in various capacities across several committees and is currently the District 7 Chair on the Public Relations Committee and a member of the Private Practice/ Emerging Settings committee within the Council on Practice Advancement.
