"Jesus was just a common Jew who wanted the best for everyone." "Jesus was a liberal first-century rabbi." Those memes have captured much of the public's imagination about Jesus. But they both are 180 degrees off the mark, especially when we read what Jesus said about himself. He said, "I am Lord of the Sabbath," and "I am greater than the Temple". And certainly those don't square with the Jesus-the-liberalizing-rabbi meme. In this episode we explore what Jesus' self-speak indicates about how he perceived himself. I also offer an extended reflection on thinking about thinking. What is the best argument for the existence of mind? Instead of probing how inert matter produced consciousness, what counter (older) argument has more explanatory power? I also muse aloud about how, for the first time in my adult life, I do not feel like the Federal government is against us. What do I mean?

In this episode of The Skeptical Leftist, I talk with Damien Marie at Hope about axiology—the philosophy of value and worth—and its relevance to how we make ethical decisions. We break down the concepts of intrinsic and extrinsic value, look at how capitalism distorts our understanding of human worth, and explore how axiology can clarify morality in practical ways. The conversation also touches on justice versus care ethics, the nuances of the free will debate, and why understanding value is key to navigating ethical challenges in a complex world. Kehlan Morgan is  @Formscapes , a philosopher whose work is focused on esoteric science. He brings to the table a great depth of insights about how Goethian and Stienerian metaphysics have silently shaped our approach to understanding nature, and how our abandonment of those metaphysics has produced a kind of science that is both perplexed and incapable. As modern science studies the world, it locks up at the stage of the Experimentum Crucis. Instead of mapping the dizzying variety of experiences, it lasers in on a single proof. Instead of creating a map of the universe that encompasses it's inherently perspectival nature, we attempt to hone it to a fine point. We discuss how this came to be the default approach, how it affects the stories we tell about ourselves and the rest of nature, and how transhumanism - the blending of man and machine - is the inherent, disastrous outcome of this approach. In this first one we concentrate on ontology, epistemology and axiology, and how understanding those things help the researcher come to understand their worldview and what that means for how to undertake a research study. We hope you find this a non-threatening look at plenty of big words! Next time, we'll bring you the second half of the discussion, in which Emma concludes that she needs to dip her toe into the exciting world of participatory research. ———————————Recorded in Studio B2.15 at Cardiff Metropolitan University's Cyncoed Campus on 8th August 2024

DISC  Behaviors, Driving Forces, and DNA (25 competencies used by most professional roles. and identifying areas for development. ), 3. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Philosophical considerations relevant to valuing continued human survival: Conceptual Analysis, Population Axiology, and Decision Theory (Andreas Mogensen), published by Global Priorities Institute on November 1, 2023 on The Effective Altruism Forum. This paper was published as a GPI working paper in September 2023. Introduction Many think that human extinction would be a catastrophic tragedy, and that we ought to do more to reduce extinction risk. There is less agreement on exactly why. If some catastrophe were to kill everyone, that would obviously be horrific. Still, many think the deaths of billions of people don't exhaust what would be so terrible about extinction. After all, we can be confident that billions of people are going to die - many horribly and before their time - if humanity does not go extinct. The key difference seems to be that they will be survived by others. What's the importance of that? Some take the view that the special moral importance of preventing extinction is explained in terms of the value of increasing the number of flourishing lives that will ever be lived, since there could be so many people in the vast future available to us (see Kavka 1978; Sikora 1978; Parfit 1984; Bostrom 2003; Ord 2021: 43-49). Others emphasize the moral importance of conserving existing things of value and hold that humanity itself is an appropriate object of conservative valuing (see Cohen 2012; Frick 2017). Many other views are possible (see esp. Scheer 2013, 2018). However, not everyone is so sure that human extinction would be regrettable. In the final section of the last book published in his lifetime, Parfit (2011: 920-925) considers what can actually be said about the value of all future history. No doubt, people will continue to suffer and despair. They will also continue to experience love and joy. Will the good be sufficient to outweigh the bad? Will it all be worth it? Parfit's discussion is brief and inconclusive. He leans toward 'Yes,' writing that our "descendants might, I believe, make the future very good." (Parfit 2011: 923) But 'might' falls far short of 'will'. Others are confidently pessimistic. Some take the view that human lives are not worth starting because of the suffering they contain. Benatar (2006) adopts an extreme version of this view, which I discuss in section 3.3. He claims that "it would be better, all things considered, if there were no more people (and indeed no more conscious life)." (Benatar 2006: 146) Scepticism about the disvalue of human extinction is especially likely to arise among those concerned about our effects on non-human animals and the natural world. In his classic paper defending the view that all living things have moral status, Taylor (1981: 209) argues, in passing, that human extinction would "most likely be greeted with a hearty 'Good riddance!' " when viewed from the perspective of the biotic community as a whole. May (2018) argues similarly that because there "is just too much torment wreaked upon too many animals and too certain a prospect that this is going to continue and probably increase," we should take seriously the idea that human extinction would be morally desirable. Our abysmal treatment of non-human animals may also be thought to bode ill for our potential treatment of other kinds of minds with whom we might conceivably share the future and view primarily as tools: namely, minds that might arise from inorganic computational substrates, given suitable developments in the field of artificial intelligence (Saad and Bradley forthcoming). This paper takes up the question of whether and to what extent the continued existence of humanity is morally desirable. For the sake of brevity, I'll refer to this as the value of the future , leaving the assumption that we conditionalize on human survival impl...

Episode 152: Making Space(s) for Arts and Culture in Libya In this episode, Hadia Gana, founder of Bayt Ali Gana, and Faraj Alsileeni, Cultural Manager at Tanarout Organization for Libyan Creativity, share their experiences opening community spaces for art and culture in Libya. Providing two generations of perspective, the speakers find commonalities in their trials and successes. While budget remains an elusive problem and support from governing institutions can be fickle, both Gana and Alsileeni have found strength in building community networks including within their own families. Above all, the leaders seek strategies for sustainability. Reflecting on Libya's past and present, they raise the questions: To what extent could traditional tribal systems be integrated into this new burgeoning cultural sphere? How to convince the public that art can be a powerful tool for change? And amidst the current political uncertainty, what are the spaces in which ongoing cultural education can take place? Faraj Alsileeni is the Cultural Manager of Tanarout Organization for Libyan Creativity, an arts and cultural center in Benghazi, Libya. Opened in 2015, Tanarout offers exhibitions, theater performances, workshops, a book circle, a cinema club, and an open arts space for the community. Alsileeni is also a Resource Center Officer for Civil Society at ACTED Libya. He is an active cinema blogger and cinema researcher, recently presenting his first paper, “The Libyan in the Others Screen,” at the cultural policies symposium of Axiology magazine at the Libyan International University. He is a fellow researcher with Network for Arab Alternative Screens. Hadia Gana is a pottery artist and founder of Gana House for Arts, a cultural space in Tripoli that includes an archive and museum of Ali Gana's art works and art research. Hadia was appointed in late 2018 as a Board Member at the Old City of Tripoli Administration Bureau that manages the restoration and rehabilitation of the heritage site, including public and private cultural spaces.  This podcast is part of "Libya Studies" lecture series and was recorded at Centre d'Études Maghrébines à Tunis (CEMAT) on October 9, 2022 at Bait Al Hikma in Tunis, as part of the 2022 AIMS Arts & Humanities Conference on Libya.  We thank Hisham Errish, a music composer and an Oud soloist, for his interpretation of “ One Song of Libya ” in the introduction and conclusion of this podcast.   Posted by: Hayet Yebbous Bensaid, Librarian, Outreach Coordinator, Content Curator (CEMA).

He challenged some of the courses description which I debunked. Segment two is entitled: WHYY's News on Delaware Students' Academic proficiency Uses Bad Data. In segment two I provide a commentary on the article ‘Tough couple of years': Delaware students' academic proficiency far below pre-pandemic levels. Going back to segment 1, we begin by reviewing The 2021 COURSE Description states that: This course is a study of the background and development of current theological thinking with an emphasis on modern and post-modern theological trends in the Christian community. The course will briefly survey theological developments up until the mid-20th century and then devote sustained attention to trends that largely have their genesis in theological ideals from the 1960s. However, I will go further in this episode to look at some more concepts and update the driving force or goal of the course which is to exploring and responding to the question: How does your theology speak to the issues and challenges of today… what solution does your theology provide? What challenges are we faced with today? Mr. Smith critiques that the course is outdated and too historical if theology today. However, I suggested that we have to look at what was before we look at what is. He agrees. We briefly discuss what theology is and the application of it. We contended with the question: is there a Caribbean theology? Mr. Smith said no but I challenged and debunked that saying that by understanding what theology is will correct one's idea about a Caribbean or regional theology, “theology is practical and therefore speaks to context and is colored by context….etc. A few questions to consider and topics to explore for the semester: 1. What is theology? 2. How does your theology speak to the issues and challenges of today… what solution does your theology provide? What challenges are we faced with today? 3. Is there a Caribbean theology and how has it evolved and 4. what relevance does it hold for us today? 5. Kirk Lougheed (ed.), Four Views on the Axiology of Theism: What Difference Does God Make? 6. Renaldo McKenzie's, Neoliberalism, Globalization Income Inequality Poverty And Resistance 15. (Secrets to unlocking) Divine Intervention. In segment two: I critique Cris Barrish article in WHYY news which available on 90.8 on the FM dial. The story is also on their website at https://whyy.org/articles/delaware-student-testing-scores-pandemic-learning-loss/ According to Criss, “while almost all Delaware K-12 students were back in the classroom last school year — albeit with periodic pandemic quarantines and closures — statewide testing scores remained well below the achievement levels of five years ago.” But that's not true and the comparative range is deceptive, skipping 2018-2019, which shows that performance was falling after 2017 well before COVID started and schools were closed. About Jon Zieve: Jon invested 34 years in a corporate career, starting as a sales rep and working his way up to VP level positions in Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. He experienced anxiety which he did his best to hide because he perceived it as a weakness. Jon became addicted to work as a way to cope with his anxiety. He also experienced fatigue, tension and inflexibility. After seeking help from chiropractors and doctors, he realized the results he sought were found with self-awareness of what is called the mind-body connection. Jon became a student of this mind-body connection, reading about the subject from authors Eckhart Tolle, Caroline Myss, Dr.Judith Orloff, Dr. John Sarno and more. It became clear his symptoms were caused by inner conflicts about work and stress, so he set an intention to change how he thought about himself and his relationship with work. Self-awareness helped Jon connect to his sense of purpose; to help others become self aware of what prevents them from achieving high performance without stress. Jon left the corporate world to become an Executive Coach in 2014. He has coached clients personally and professionally for 7 years. It was while coaching others who shared his habit of serving others at the expense of personal needs/dreams, Jon realized he can best serve others by paying attention to and being consistent about his personal needs and dreams. Jon became a Certified Life Coach and a Certified HeartMath Coach/Mentor in 2015. He graduated from the HeartMath Institute 9-month HeartMastery program in 2016 and is also certified in the MindScan Hartman Value Profile.   In this episode, Jordan and Jon discuss: The origin of axiology  The 3 dimensions of thinking in Axiology Listening to the messages your body sends  HeartMath: a heart focused breathing meditation Making friends with your subconscious  Key Takeaways Axiology is the study of values and value-judgment. It was created in order to answer the question of “what is good?” and how that good can be organized.  Axiology promotes clarity of thinking and awareness of bias in the three dimensions of thinking: Intrinsic, Extrinsic, and Practical When you don't care about your own health and wellbeing, you're conditioning others not to care about your health and wellbeing. l.  Sometimes, being overly conscious of yourself will cause you to get in your own way or to underperform in certain tasks.  Your subconscious mind can either be your enemy or your friend. You tend to get what you focus on even if you tell yourself that you don't want that thing. For example, focusing on not having too much pressure in life will create a lot of pressure.     “Your body doesn't lie. Your body will give you messages and those messages usually come in the form of pain and tension. My journey to health was starting to learn how to listen to my body and trust my body and ask my body to be an asset to help me as opposed to fighting my body.” —  Jon Zieve   Click this link for a live feedback session and access to the MindScan survey: https://bit.ly/3npPK5m    Connect with Jon Zieve:   Website: https://www.jonzieve.com/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonzieve/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trustyourenergy/  Connect with Jordan:  For executives wanting a complimentary executive coaching conversation: jordan@jordangoldrich.com  Website: www.workplacewarriorinc.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordangoldrich1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jordan.goldrich Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jordangoldrich/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jgoldrich/

Presented and produced by Seán Delaney. On this week's podcast I speak to Professor Gregory Cajete from Santa Clara Pueblo and the University of New Mexico about indigenous education and what contemporary western education can learn from such rich traditions. Among the topics we discuss are: Belonging to the Tewa tribe and what is particular about that tribe. Numbers in different tribes such as the Navajo, Cherokee, the Hopi and the Tewa. Being the first member of his family to attend public school Previously native Americans would have attended federal boarding schools (created by Pratt), with a basic academic curriculum Professor Cajete refers to “Charles Pratt” but this may be a mistaken reference to Richard Henry Pratt, to whom the expression “Kill the Indian, save the man” was attributed. Tribal College Union established in the 1970s (36 colleges – like first and second year of colleges; giving 2-year degrees) Defining indigenous education: Distinction between native American students attending US public schools (including the Bureau of Indian affair schools and religious denominational schools) – education as assimilation versus traditional indigenous education including stories, history, customs and language of the people. Relationality as the basis of indigenous education – developing a relationship to the place in which we live In indigenous education people ask the question, “how am I related to this?” versus the predominant “western” question “What is this?” Currently attempts are being made to introduce native American language, culture and traditions into US public schools Epistemology (how we come to know what we know) of indigenous education involves storytelling, ceremony, participation in community, rhythm and dance. Axiology (what is the focus of/what has value in?) of indigenous education is about establishing a balanced relationship with your environment, including human and other-than-human entities; a place-based world view (based on where you live). Logic of indigenous education is ecological and is one of balanced interdependence. It is part of an understanding that everything you do impacts everything around you. The Lakota people say “We are all related.” The “intractable conflict” between indigenous education and public school education in the United States Why the curriculum focused on subject-matter is object-focused and parts-oriented whereas native education is ecological, sustainable and holistic. Shortcomings of the subject-based curriculum include that it doesn’t teach for relationality or about the ecological mandate, the pre-requisite for sustainability; these are “specialised fields” whereas in indigenous education, you learn these from the day you’re born and reinforced consistently throughout one’s lifetime. Consequently you acquire a life-centred focus. Many native artists are entrepreneurial while maintaining a traditional viewpoint. An economic focus is on benefiting the community, not just oneself. Gary Nabhan is not native American but he writes about native forms of agriculture. Enrique Salmón too has written on this topic. Books Greg Cajete has written: Look to the Mountain Igniting the Sparkle: An Indigenous Science Education Model. Native Science: Natural Laws of Interdependence  Spirit of the Game. Indigenous Community: Rekindling the teachings of the seventh fire. Native Minds Rising: Exploring Transformative Indigenous Education Sacred Journeys: Personal visions of indigenous transformation Values that underpin indigenous education O. Wilson’s biophilic sensibility – caring and empathy for each other, caring and empathy for the natural world and caring and empathy for your soul The indigenous stages of developmental learning; finding the essence of your soul. Question: What does it mean to become a full human being? Chant: One must first find one’s face (you identity), one must then find one’s heart, finally one must find one’s foundation (what you stand on) in the context of relationship, responsibility, respect and resonance, with one’s self, one’s community, one’s place, then with one’s world, within the context of your relationship with the cosmos.

It is either the collective term for ethics and aesthetics, philosophical fields that depend crucially on notions of worth, or the foundation for these fields, and thus similar to value theory and meta-ethics. The term was first used by Paul Lapie, in 1902, and Eduard von Hartmann, in 1908. Axiology studies mainly two kinds of values: ethics and aesthetics. Ethics investigates the concepts of "right" and "good" in individual and social conduct. Aesthetics studies the concepts of "beauty" and "harmony." Formal axiology, the attempt to lay out principles regarding value with mathematical rigor, is exemplified by Robert S. Hartman's science of value. History Between the 5th and 6th century BC, it was important in Greece to be knowledgeable if you were to be successful. Philosophers began to recognize that differences existed between the laws and morality of society. Socrates believed that knowledge had a vital connection to virtue, making morality and democracy closely intertwined. Socrates' student, Plato furthered the belief by establishing virtues which should be followed by all. With the fall of the government, values became individual, causing skeptic schools of thought to flourish, ultimately shaping a pagan philosophy that is thought to have influenced and shaped Christianity. During the medieval period, Thomas Aquinas made the distinction between natural and supernatural (theological) virtues. This concept led philosophers to distinguish between judgments based on fact and judgments based on values, creating division between science and philosophy. Hartman History of Robert S. Hartman. Axiology is a roadmap for self-actualization. Hartman's vision was to fulfill the good within us so that we can bring peace and goodness to the world. The Science of Axiology points to the clarity of thinking right now and where we can go. Axiology is the study of good, it measures the way we think, it measures how we value in our thinking. It is a mathematical formula, it is a science, it is a way to a system of logic that helps us understand how we think and make decisions. Axiology is about the three dimensions of value: systemic, extrinsic and intrinsic. Timing on Recording: @ 13:20  --- Topic 2: Talk Suzie gave at the Robert S. Hartman's Work; Why Did You Decide That This Is a Tool You're Interested in Learning More About and Bringing It to People; Why Have You Continued to Stay Committed to It. It is getting inside someone's head, understanding how they think, and people are so complex that you just can't look at a person from just DISC or just from a couple assessments, you really have to have this complete picture of the individual and understand what's going on and where are their filters, what's going on in their brain. The Hartman tools give us the ability to understand how people look at the world and how they look at themselves. It is tough to look and assess a person without looking at everything, including the Axiology, Hartman's work. Timing on Recording: @ 10:05  --- Topic 2: When You Use the Tool, How Have You Used it Within the Organization? How is It Used Across the Country? Across the World. We use it with every internal hire. When we're bringing in Chief Marketing Officers and VPs of people, different people at that level, you really have to truly understand how they think. World view vs. Internal view. Business is off a little bit this year, but the training and the development business is up because organizations have been hiring people without assessments over the last 12 months because they needed a person, and now they're having problems within the organization because they didn't make that connection, they did not use Acumen. If you don't match the person to the job, you're going to have issues as you go forward. Timing on Recording: @ 13:38  --- Topic 3: How Has Hartman's Work Impacted Your Life? You start to look at things very differently. Intrinsic, Extrinsic and Systemic. Hartman's work is a mental mind map that is so powerful personally and professionally. Timing on Recording: @ 16:46  --- Topic 4: What Do You Say to Consultants Who Are Struggling to “Bring it all together?” Use Axiology at the level that you're comfortable with. Focus on three main things: The people piece, feeling, the doing or practical piece, and then the systems or thinking piece. Timing on Recording: @ 18:48  --- Topic 5: What Do You Think the Future of Hartman's Work Is? Do You See Changes in the Tools? There's so much opportunity, there's so much potential for growth and expansion. The Hartman Institute's goal is to change the world for the better. Get more business-minded people into the Hartman Institute. Update training recertification. Updated Dimensional Balance page. Timing on Recording: @ 28:02 --- Topic 6: Who Has Most Influenced You in Your Life and Career? Who are They, What Do They Say and Do? What Was Most Useful? My Dad. He led by example. Really exuded that, “People first,” kind of mentality. Timing on Recording: @ 30:39  --- Topic 7: What Books, Training Programs, What Kind of Things Have Been Instrumental to Your Development? Simon Sinek Book: Start With Why Verne Harnish Material Book:Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination That Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business Book: The 4 Disciplines of Execution Timing on Recording: @ 32:33  --- Topic 8: When You Think of the Word Successful, Who's the First Person That Comes to Mind? Jeff Bezos from Amazon. “How can we make it easier for our customers to buy?” “How do I make it easier?” Timing on Recording: @ 36:27  --- Topic 9: What Are Some of the Things That You Do That Regularly That Help You Have More Wake Up Eager Days? It's all about routine. Clean living. Protein shake in the morning. Clear your glass, taking a step back visualizing some of the better times that you've had, just have to get it out, and let people know what you're feeling. 2-3 physical workouts per week. Timing on Recording: @ 42:46  --- Topic 10: Getting to Know Rick Bowers. Your favorite guilty pleasure TV show: Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med. Your favorite possession: Cars (Camaro, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Spider). Advice you would give you 25 year-old self: “Every mistake is an opportunity to learn. Contact Priceless Professional Development: 770-578-6976, suzie@pricelessprofessional.com or www.pricelessprofessional.com To see the show notes and get the transcript for this episode, go to: www.pricelessprofessional.com/cliff Timing on Recording: @ 11:10  --- Topic 1: Welcome Dr. Clifford Hurst; Talk About Robert S. Hartman's Work, How You Came Across It and Why You Are Committed to Sharing it With Others: In 2002, TTI introduced me to the Hartman Value Profile, the assessment was very accurate. When I started using the Hartman Value Profile, I thought it was magic, it's like the mass just melted away and people got very real, very quickly. I started using the assessment but did not know where the information came from, I thought, “I better learn more about where this came from.” I wanted to become a more theoretically grounded consultant. Hartman was to me a polymath, someone who knows a whole lot about a lot of things. And I look back at my own career and I look at a lot of people who are using the instrument as consultants. If the only thing you're doing is the instrument, you're leaving a lot of richness off the table because Hartman was so thoughtful about so many different things that the theory of Formal Axiology is much richer than the instrument itself. The stuff started by Robert S. Hartman in 1958 has created $7 trillion of personal wealth in America, and most people don't know that came from Hartman. Timing on Recording: @ 20:18  --- Topic 2: How Would You Explain to Someone How this Science Lends Itself to so Many Disciplines?: It is the Science of Value of Morals. Let's say a business is only about making money, but it should be about the human good, and the good of everyone involved in that, the science reframes a lot. Book: From the Neck Up bySteve Byrum. Today's young people more than anything else don't want just a job when they graduate, they want to find meaning in their own lives and they want to make a difference in the world through their work. I believe Hartman's theory allows us to honor that ambition. Balance of systemic, extrinsic and intrinsic. Hartman's theory provides a balanced perspective to your cognitive habits and provides a moral foundation to what we ought to be doing in the world. Timing on Recording: @ 30:54  --- Topic 3: Two gifts that the Hartman Value Profile Gives People: One: It gives you the ability to bring to conscious awareness all patterns that you've had held subconsciously, these things that we don't know about how we think. What are your habitual realities? Without the Hartman Value Profile, we don't know what our habitual thought patterns are. Two: It brings to conscious awareness are called cognitive horizons, how far can you think, what are the limits of your cognitive processes? It gives us a language with which to understand it. All understanding is linguistic; we can't process stuff if we don't have a language with which to process it. Timing on Recording: @ 33:21  --- Topic 4: Other Ways Hartman's Work Has Impacted Your Life: Hartman, “There are only four steps to a successful life. Number one, know yourself. Two, choose yourself. Three, grow yourself. And four, give yourself to something greater than you.” My mission is to help my students to know themselves, choose themselves and give yourself to something greater than you. Timing on Recording: @ 34:27  --- Topic 5: What Would You Say Was Most Challenging For You Along the Way on this Journey to Where You Are Today?: False starts. Choosing yourself. You have to know who you are to choose it. “The most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain Intrinsic Valuation of the Self. Timing on Recording: @ 49:33  --- Topic 6: Are There Additional Books or Training Programs That Have Been Instrumental in Your Developments?: Doctoral training at Fielding Graduate University. Workshops by Christina Thomas Fraser called The Inner Light Intensives. Book In Tune With the Soul. Timing on Recording: @ 50:55  --- Topic 7: When You Think of the Word Successful, Who's the First Person That Comes to Mind?: Carl Rogers – How it took 30 years for his work to become mainstream. Timing on Recording: @ 52:23  --- Topic 8: What Do You Do Regularly to Create Your Own Wake Up Eager Days in Mind, Body and Spirit? Mind: Reading an hour a day enriches my mind. Body: Have lost 20 pounds so far, halfway to my goal. Book: Wheat Belly Spirit: My wife, My spiritual practice Self-realization Fellowship (Yoga), My hobby: spoon carving. Timing on Recording: @ 59:45  --- Topic 9: Getting to Know Dr. Clifford Hurst. A funny story your family tells about you: 5 year-old, “Nobody likes stupid people.” Advice you would give you 25 year-old self: “Be yourself, everyone else is taken.” Oscar Wilde If you could have a billboard anywhere, what would it say?: “The two most important days in your life for the day you were born in the day you figured out why.” Mark Twain Last bit of wisdom, advice that you want everybody who's listening to take away: Remember those four steps to a successful life; Be yourself, choose yourself, grow yourself, and give yourself to something more important than you.

He consults on personality, career strategy, leadership strategy, culture, spiritual growth, relationship management, and temperament strategy. We were introduced to Steve by one of our listeners and we were happy to invite him on the show. His wit and wisdom were both entertaining and rewarding in ways that only a guy who has held jobs as diverse as roofing a house to authoring seven books and speaking at conferences can be. Steve’s behavioral focus emerges from his work with personality assessments, and this brought a fresh perspective us as we rarely dive into the tools of the trade. And what about the cost to animals? Each year, up to a million dogs, rabbits and mice are tortured and die because of our self-care products. Ericka Rodriguez had worn the same mascara for 10 years before she read the ingredients label and discovered the dark side of her make-up. But finding fun, colorful, organic, vegan and cruelty free alternatives was tough. So she decided to make her own: Axiology was born. Where most lipsticks contain upwards of 23 ingredients, Axiology lipsticks contain around 10, with no scary chemicals in sight. Dr. Hartman, “This is a study of one's thinking habits.” Robert Schirokauer – 1932 fled Germany fake passport.  Rejected communism  and believed that ‘every life is sacred and that you can't kill people for an idea'  Changed name: Robert S. Hartman.  12 books, hundreds of articles, 1970's – companies like Seimens, Volkswagen, Alcoa Aluminum were using HVP. Hartman's vision was to give us the means to recognize and fulfill "the good" within each of us, thereby enriching our lives.  By applying these principles on a broader scale, we may also enrich our world and make it a place of more "goodness" and peace. Serves as a roadmap – pointing where we are and where we can go – to full self-actualization How people judge, think and process.   TTI SI is powered by its three decades of research, conducted by Target Training International, Ltd.  data pool of millions of individuals collected over these decades. They have four patents. I become certified in 2004. Timing on Recording: @ 33:20  --- Topic 5: Understanding How We Make Decisions – Three Dimensions of Thinking from Axiology and Dr. Hartman, The Dimensional Balance Page and Personal Skills How does axiology do this? Three main thinking dimensions. We all use all three dimensions in our thinking and decision-making to various degrees.  We think and feel in all three dimensions, fluidly, all the time. Young Man on a Cruise – SYSTEMIC: I'm here to meet women; EXTRINSIC: Three days, tall women with brown hair; INTRINSIC:  I met the love of my life How this relates to TriMetrix & Dimensional Balance page…  The higher the score = high clarity = high capacity – “I can do this with ease – it will be a strength.” External and Internal – Six areas: - External- Understanding Others –“stepping in the shoes of others…” Listening skills, empathy and degree of emotional distance, ability to build trust and rapport. Ability to adapt to others.  - External- Practical Thinking -Common Sense  -social norms,  can do or frustration in getting things done. Understanding functions at work, apply resources. - External- Systems Judgment - understanding the system and order, approach to authority, understanding of rules and whether embrace them or rebel against them. Big picture, structure and order. - Internal- Sense of Self -Sense of inner worth, Comfortable in own skin, below average – hungry for achievement or tendency to burn out-does not take care of self. - Internal- Role Awareness  – changes – impacts resiliency, self-management, internalized role, understand place in the world, if high + - no barriers to their drive/motivation/pride in role - Internal- Self-Direction -  ideal self.
