Most people think vacation means turning their brain off and leaving their discipline behind. That's exactly why they stay stuck. This video breaks down the mindset difference between people who use time off to recharge with purpose and those who use it to escape responsibility. One leads to growth. The other leads to regret. If you're serious about your goals, you can't afford to keep starting over every time life feels comfortable.Discipline doesn't disappear just because the setting changes.
Discipline isn't something you're born with. Personal accountability and the choices you make daily quietly shape your identity and future. Most people believe discipline is a personality trait, something you either have or don't. They assume the most consistent, high-performing professionals are simply “wired” that way. But the truth is much simpler and far more empowering: discipline is not a trait. It's a decision. It's a choice you make every day, especially when comfort whispers in your ear and excuses feel justified. In this episode of The Mindset Debrief, we break down the lie that discipline belongs to the lucky few and replace it with a grounded, actionable truth. Discipline is built in the quiet moments, when the alarm rings, when the deadline looms, when nobody is watching. You'll explore how small daily choices stack into your identity, why motivation cannot be trusted, and how to fight the subtle resistance that keeps you comfortable and stuck. We explore why your habits shape your reputation with yourself and why your greatest growth happens not in public but in private. With a practical and direct tone, this episode invites you to reclaim control, stop waiting for perfect conditions, and begin leading yourself with purpose. If you're tired of feeling stuck, tired of drifting, and ready to stop negotiating with your potential, this conversation is your wake-up call. Discipline is not something you were born lacking, it's something you start choosing today.Subscribe for weekly mindset insights focused on self-control, personal accountability, and showing up stronger every day.Share this episode with someone who's been waiting too long to begin.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: WEBSITE: LinkedIn: SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:SPONSORS:Brothers & Arms USAGet 20% off your purchaseLink: https://brothersandarms.comPromo Code: Transition20
We keep asking for more of God — but have we made space for Him to move? In this message, Pastor Randy challenges us to stop chasing spiritual moments and start building spiritual habits. Repentance makes room. Discipline sustains the fire. And when we're emptied, God can truly fill us. It's not about feeling a spark — it's about living with fire. From Sunday 07/20/2025
Send us a textGood morning! Thank you for taking a few minutes to listen. If you are interested in the Daily Bible Devotional, you can find it at the links below:Amazon - (paperback, hardcover, and Kindle)Spiritbuilding.com - (premium quality paperback)Youtube Video Introducing the ContentFeel free to reach out with any questions: emersonk78@me.comI Corinthians 9Some Corinthians have questions about Paul's rights as an apostle. Paul affirms his authority by explaining that he has the right to receive financial support for his ministry, just as workers in other fields earn from their labor. However, Paul willingly relinquishes this right to prevent hindering the gospel or causing others to stumble. He emphasizes that his ultimate goal is to win as many people as possible to Christ. To achieve this, he adapts to various audiences, becoming “all things to all people” while remaining true to God's law. Paul likens the Christian life to a race, urging believers to exercise self-discipline and strive for an eternal crown. Ultimately, he encourages the Corinthians to concentrate on spreading the gospel and living with purpose, self-control, and commitment to Christ's mission.Discipline in Christ requires focus and intentionality in our choices and relationships. While we have the freedom to live as redeemed believers, we are called to concentrate on positively influencing others and advancing the gospel. Paul willingly surrendered his rights, adapting his approach to meet people where they were so he might draw people closer to Christ. Not everyone shares the same level of spiritual maturity, whether in the church or outside of it. This means we must be willing to adjust our own approach, words, and methods to have the greatest influence on others for Christ. This will take discipline, like that of an athlete, as we pursue the eternal wreath for ourselves and as many others as possible. Compassionate Lord, thank You for the example of Paul's humility and dedication. Help us live with a spirit of perspective, recognizing the weight of our impact on others within the church and the world. Teach us to be willing to set aside our desires for the sake of others so that we may demonstrate Christ-like love. Show us how adjustments on our part can make the gospel more shareable with the people in our lives. We will run this race with endurance, exhibiting self-control, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the gospel. Lead us to others we can help along the way. Thought Questions: - “Am I not free?” What is wrong with this question? Why must you move past yourself and consider others when making decisions? - What adjustments have you made recently “so that [you] may win the more”? How might your changes need to come first for others to change? - Are you running the race of faith with discipline and devotion? What are specific decisions you are making that would defend your answer?

I found a unique post from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this quote from “Discipline” was shared with all of us: “Keep showing up, no matter how you feel.” It's a powerful reminder from a great source that we all need to be connected with in our lives, which is having discipline. There are many forms to this for all of us, but one of the main ingredients is this quote for sure and I really zeroed in on the keep showing up part! Hey, there are a lot of different quotes that I have shared over the years - I think we can all trust this one from Discipline him (or her) self. Keep working on it for how you connect to it. I need to do the same. Thanks for listening. Send us a textFreedom, discipline, and intentional growth—these seemingly contradictory concepts form the powerful foundation of sustainable success in business and life, as explored by Jared Ledford and Eric Olson in this reflective Steel Kings episode.Drawing inspiration from Independence Day, the hosts peel back the surface of entrepreneurship to examine what truly drives fulfilling work. "If you get to the point in your life where you do what you love every day, you'll never work a day in your life," Jared reflects, connecting the passionate joy of kids playing baseball in "The Sandlot" to the satisfaction they've found in the shed and steel building industry. The conversation takes a compelling turn as they discuss the concept of "pruning"—intentionally cutting away what's not bearing fruit to create space for new growth. Both hosts share candidly about difficult business decisions that initially felt like risks but ultimately cleared the path for their current success. "When you clean your slate off, now you can write on it," Eric observes, highlighting how removing unproductive elements creates clarity and new possibilities.Perhaps most practical is their insight on maintaining consistency through the inevitable ups and downs of sales cycles. Rather than riding emotional highs and lows, they advocate for steady discipline—doing the same productive tasks daily regardless of immediate results. As John Maxwell wisely noted and Jared quotes: "The secret to your success is found in your daily routine."Community involvement emerges as another cornerstone of their approach, with both hosts actively engaged in local chambers of commerce and events. They challenge listeners: Whatever your position is right now—good, bad, or indifferent—you can do something today to change your tomorrow. This commitment to incremental, consistent action has transformed their business and can do the same for yours.Ready to bring more intention to your business approach? How can we keep Christ's commands if we feel so weak? We can't—at least, not in our own strength. But Jesus never asked us to. As we abide in Him, He enables us by His Spirit to walk as He walked. Through simple steps of memorizing, meditating, and setting our minds on His Word, He empowers a life of joyful obedience and deeper communion. In this series, we've seen that true love for Christ is shown by keeping His commandments—not to earn His favor, but because we already have it. As we treasure His Word, He transforms our minds, fills our hearts, and draws us into deeper intimacy. Obedience is not a burden, but a pathway into the joy and presence of the One we love.Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? In this episode, we dive into the story behind Discipline Child — a wildly custom 1955 Volkswagen Beetle owned by Cali Springer, originally from the Virgin Islands. What began as a simple inquiry about fuel injection turned into a one-of-a-kind build by Alvin Lawrence of Auto Fanatic, also hailing from the islands. This isn't your typical classic VW Beetle. Discipline Child features a Subaru engine swap, full air suspension, electric air conditioning sourced from a Tesla, and a top-tier custom sound system. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail reflects the dedication and discipline it took to see this project through to the end. From the island roots to the custom Budnik wheels, this car blends old-school air-cooled Volkswagen soul with cutting-edge modern tech — and it's all done in true island style. If you're passionate about vintage VWs, air-cooled culture, and radical custom builds, this is an episode you don't want to miss. Cali Springer is also the promoter for the VI bug out. We also take some time to discuss the VI bug out! An insane Vw show that takes place in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. Happening this year 2025 December 28 through January 1. “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.”With those words, Warren Buffett reminded us that character and integrity matter—especially in the world of money. Now, after more than sixty years of market-shaping moves and famous one-liners, Buffett is calling it a career. Today, Matt Bell joins us to reflect on his legacy and share what timeless lessons every investor can learn from it.Matt Bell is the Managing Editor at Sound Mind Investing, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. A Track Record That's Hard to IgnoreIf you had invested $100 in Berkshire Hathaway back in 1965, that single investment would have grown to over $5.5 million by the end of last year. Compare that with the S&P 500 over the same period, which would have turned $100 into just $39,000. Clearly, Buffett did something different. One unconventional move? He never issued dividends for Berkshire Hathaway, instead reinvesting profits to increase share value. That patient, long-view approach paid off—and it hints at biblical principles like delayed gratification and wise stewardship (Proverbs 21:20).Buffett famously said, “Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.” While Christians would rightly reject greed and fear as motivations, the deeper principle here is about remaining steady and disciplined in volatile times—echoing Proverbs 14:15: “The simple believe everything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.”Buffett often waited with cash on hand until the right opportunities appeared, especially during downturns. That patience and discernment mirrors biblical instruction to avoid impulsiveness and instead seek wisdom in decision-making.Investing Lessons With Biblical ParallelsOver the years, Buffett offered dozens of pithy insights that mirror biblical truth. Here are a few standouts:“If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you'll work until you die.”—This speaks to the wisdom of putting money to productive use—earning a return through thoughtful investing, a principle echoed in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25). “Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing.”—In Proverbs 15:22, we're reminded that “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Financial ignorance creates risk, but biblical stewardship calls for wisdom and learning. Diversification, emotional control, and long-term vision—Buffett emphasized all three. These align with a measured, prudent approach to money that Scripture continually encourages.Buffett never let global turmoil shake his confidence in long-term investing. He wrote, “In the 20th century, the U.S. endured world wars, recessions, a depression, oil shocks, and more—yet the Dow rose from 66 to 11,497.” His takeaway: “It's been a terrible mistake to bet against America.”While our hope as Christians isn't rooted in any one nation's economy, Buffett's long view reminds us of the value of endurance and not making decisions based on fear or short-term noise (see James 1:5–6).Generosity and LegacyPerhaps most inspiring is Buffett's commitment to give away 99% of his wealth. He plans to direct his Berkshire Hathaway shares toward philanthropic causes within ten years of his estate being settled. While we may differ on where those funds go, the posture of open-handed generosity reflects Jesus' teaching: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).Buffett's success wasn't just about intellect—it was about character: discipline, patience, and generosity. These are values every believer is called to cultivate. As you manage your resources, consider how biblical principles—often echoed in even the most unlikely places—can shape a wise, faithful financial life.To explore these ideas further, read Matt Bell's full article, The Wisdom of Warren Buffett at SoundMindInvesting.org.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I've never had a credit card before, but I recently received a pre-qualified offer from Capital One. They mentioned they've reviewed my credit and noticed I'm keeping up with my bills. Should I consider applying for this card, and how can I verify that the offer is legitimate? As a grandmother, I'm concerned that my grandchildren aren't learning essential financial skills from their parents. I'd love to step in and help, especially with my 20-year-old grandchild. What is the best way to encourage them to save money and manage their finances wisely?Over the past couple of years, God has really blessed me with increased income, and I'm incredibly grateful. I live simply, help my parents, and avoid lifestyle inflation—but I want to make sure I'm handling this increase in a way that honors God. How can I manage this money with biblical stewardship in mind?I'm in a strong financial position—no debt, and I tithe faithfully. I just received $15,000 from selling off some business assets and want to invest it wisely. I'd like it to earn a good return, but I also want it to remain accessible if needed. In This Episode You Will Hear: • I still remember at 7, 8, 9, 10,11, 12 years old, playing outside on the outdoor rinks for 3, 4, 5 hours a night in -10, -15, -20 degree weather. (6:27) • At 8 years old, I knew what my mission was – what my God-given calling was which was to be part of the redemption story of the health of America. (7:07) • I was raised with a deep conviction and relationship with the Lord, and just a love for people. (7:45) • As men we think that we can grab little issues and dump them in a bucket, and we handle them like it's nothing, but little do we know they're stacking up. (11:35) • There are 4 types of heats: An addictive heart, a hardened heart, a performance heart, and a bruised heart. (13:43). • What are our habits? What are our behaviors? How do we live? How does that show the stewardship and honor for what we've been given to carry out His calling? (15:36) • If you know who's you are, and who's call you're executing, at the end of the day, the results don't matter, it's the journey you're waiting on. (18:13) • Isaiah 40 – Those who are willing to wait on the Lord will rise up on wings like eagles, will run and not grow weary, will walk and not grow faint. (18:51) • The younger generation is learning in a new way. They want to have evidence. (19:41) • We could be pulled off-purpose. And the moment you get distracted is the moment you get disconnected. (21:58) • I always ask 3 questions: What's your name? How's your heart? How can I help? (30:35) • Try to be a reflection of love every single place you go. Try to speak life into people. (32:49) • You have a choice: Do you want your compromise to be compounding in your life? Or do you want your commitment to be compounding in your life? (33:37) • I grew up a fat kid: Was teased, made fun of, ADHD, OCD. (35:41) • Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure. (42:48) • How we live is our true and proper worship. (44:17) • I'm learning that I'm perfectly imperfectly wired. Pastor Craig Smith explains how unconfessed sin drains our strength and joy, while honest confession brings God's forgiveness, renewed freedom, and confident guidance on life's path.
"For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 “The child's development follows a path of successive stages of independence and our knowledge of this must guide us in our behavior towards him. We have to help the child to act, will, and think for himself. This is the art of serving the spirit. An art which can be practiced to perfection only when working among children.” Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind Submit a Podcast Listener Question HERE! In today's sobering Morning Manna, we unpack how temptation conceives sin, and how unchecked desires give birth to destruction. Using Proverbs 6:24 and James 1:13–15, we trace the anatomy of sin—from the subtle lure of flattery to the fatal end of spiritual death. This isn't just about avoiding immorality—it's a call to guard the heart, kill sin early, and walk in the fear of the Lord.
