This week's episode comes with pixie dust included. The Four Season's Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World is located on the grounds of Walt Disney World in a quiet residential area called Golden Oak. It's a luxury resort offering Disney-adjacent magic as only the Four Seasons can, and the weddings at this property are positively enchanting. On this show, I chat with Laure Hitzig Clavette, director of catering at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World who talks all about planning a celebration at this exclusive property and how she and her team bring dream experiences to life—no request is too small or too large, including having Mickey and Minnie Mouse as guests of honour. Laure also shares her expert industry on food and wedding menus, and why bringing your favourite restaurant dishes to life at your wedding is the one of the biggest trends of the moment.
The OG3 took their talents to Golden Oak and were not disappointed. Find out the many reasons you should add the Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World to your list of must-stays in WDW!Follow the hosts on Instagram @TravelmationPodcast

“Be the person you needed when you were younger, and if you do that, you're going to find a tremendous meaning and joy in life.” Michael S. Seaver The workplace continues to evolve, as people become more aware of themselves and what they want. It is therefore important that the leaders of today understand the trends and align themselves accordingly. Michael S. Seaver is an award-winning executive coach, leadership consultant, keynote speaker, and author. He's on a mission to unlock human potential to help people uncover and live their purpose, and live a more meaningful and authentic life. His unique methodology has revolutionized how leaders can live authentically and how organizations engage employees. He offers no-nonsense strategies to help people find confidence in their life's narrative, commonalities across generations working today, and ways to communicate with emotional intelligence. Michael's newest book, I Know, A Practical Guide For Awakening To What's Within And Finding Work-Life Integration, is a how-to guide Michael uses with clients walking you through the three phases of personal transformation and nine processes you can complete alone or with trusted friends. The book tells Michael's raw and authentic story, offers research-based psychological truths, and is full of real-world client examples. For more than 25 years, Michael has lead teams and has coached global leaders since 2011. He's invested thousands of hours in the “arena” managing personal and organizational change, guided others to uncover their lives' missions, and taught leaders how to create psychological safety by inviting employee life experiences into workplace. He is a frequent guest on international podcasts and has served on a variety of boards of directors. Michael graduated from the Thunderbird School of Global Management with a MBA and speaks a bit of Mandarin. He is certified by TTI Success Insights to administer the DISC, 12 Driving Forces, Emotional Intelligence assessments. In today's episode, Michael talks about his passion for coaching, and how he unlocks people's potential. He also talks about the motivation behind writing his book and the hurdles he had to overcome to make the book a reality. Listen in! Social Media Handles http://michaelsseaver.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelsseaver/ https://twitter.com/michaelsseaver https://www.instagram.com/michaelsseaver/ https://www.facebook.com/MichaelScottSeaver https://www.youtube.com/user/SeaverConsulting I worked at the Four Seasons Resort in north Scottsdale where I learned an awful lot about customer service, giving back and anticipating guests needs. After my MBA I took a full time job at one of the nation's largest healthcare systems as the director of talent sourcing. I always wanted to do coaching, and in February 2011, I launched my coaching practice as it is now. I am an executive coach and I do offer team trainings, I speak publicly and serve as MC for events, and I also have online courses. My life's mission is about how I can unlock potential and give other people hope. I've helped a lot of folks define what their life's mission is, or define what their personal brand is, and then figure out ways that they can share them openly. I've also really enjoyed helping people become coaches, which then creates an entire ecosystem inside of a company or organization for other coaches. We're moving forward to a very different time in human history, where people are going to stand in their truths in ways that they never have before. Our job as coaches and leaders is to help people believe in themselves in ways that they might not have before. We are moving to a time where people are slowing down, and finding an objective framework on how to distribute their time into things they genuinely care about. Commercial Break We have moved to what astrologist referred to as the Age of Aquarius. Organizations that are upscaling their people are the ones that are going to have the most engaged and productive staff. Now is the time to create those collaborative workspaces where people can truly express themselves in a more connected environment. In March of 2020, I got this epiphany and I reached out to a writing coach that I had known. The summer of 2020 was an enormously challenging emotional time for me, because I was confronting a lot of my own fears to tell some of the stories that I tell in the book. I had to challenge myself and get really deep into my own heart and soul to tell the stories that I told but it has opened up doors that I would have never ever considered. The more niche or specific that you are, the more depth oftentimes the help that you can provide is. I encourage everybody watching or listening to take the time to really start to share yourself more openly, because you never know who you're going to uplift. Be the person you needed to be when you were younger, and if you do that, you're going to find a tremendous meaning and joy in life. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The Inspiration4 flight ushered in a new era in commercial spaceflight ... one where private citizens can become astronauts. But what is involved in training private astronauts to travel into space? How can a person prepare for space travel without going through the years of training that NASA astronauts must complete? Providing that training is the mission of Orbite, a space training company for the ultimate adventurers. On this edition of The Ex Terra Podcast, we talk with Nicolas Gaume and Jason Andrews, the founders of Orbite. Nicolas and Jason explain the concept behind training for the next generation of commercial space explorers – people leaving this planet for pleasure or profession. Orbite is building a commercial spaceflight gateway complex with modern astronaut training facilities that will reimagine the human spaceflight experience. The company's programs blend specialized equipment and personal instruction to achieve confidence, skill, and team safety. Potential astronauts will learn what it's like to live in space from VIP guest speakers and enjoy an unforgettable 'Michelin star' culinary space food lab and dining event. The entire program is hosted in elegant, luxury accommodations. The first orientation program took place in France in August. Three additional orientation sessions will take place in November and December at the Four Seasons Resort in Orlando, FL. Each Astronaut Orientation will be limited to 10 guests to ensure personalized service. Astronaut Orientation is the first training offering of several planned from Orbite. This program focuses on putting guests through a series of activities that enlighten them about the different suborbital and orbital spaceflight offerings. Astronaut Orientation will expose trainees to different mission profiles through microgravity and high-G flight training, up-close tours of space facilities, and immersive virtual reality experiences of actual commercial space missions. Attendees will also have access to exclusive experiences, including a memorable ‘Michelin star' space food lab tasting. Training private astronauts ... on this edition of The Ex Terra Podcast. How does what happens in space affect your everyday life? The Ex Terra podcast is dedicated to introducing you to many of the interesting people involved in the commercial space industry, and taking you behind the scenes with many of the companies making significant contributions to the new space economy. The podcast is available on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Podcasts, Breaker, Overcast, Pocketcasts and Radio Public.

Trail Blazing and Sled Dog Racing If you love snow, this is a great time to be in Bayfield County! With more than 30-inches of the white stuff falling overnight in December followed by numerous other storms, the Nordic ski trail systems are packed and groomed for outstanding skiing and snowshoeing. We chat with the new operations manager at Mt. Ashwabay about their plans for an entire season of family fun. Plus, we’ve got mushers from two popular sled dog races in Bayfield County telling us about how they enjoy the Dog Days of winter (and how you can join them). Wisconsin’s Hub for Nordic Trails Two things make Bayfield County an amazing place for cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing – its abundance of forested public land along with dedicated volunteers. The terrain is varied, gorgeous and well-maintained by different volunteer groups who work in partnership with public and private landowners to maintain the nine Nordic ski trail systems. One such trail system is at Mt. Ashwabay in Bayfield. Doug Olson learned how to ski here 50 years ago when he was just 5-years-old and he’s now the new Director of Operations. He says that like many others, he picked up great skiing and people skills at this family-friendly, youth-centered recreation area. After working more than 20 years in the ski industry in Colorado, he is happy to be back in Wisconsin’s Northwoods on the shore of Lake Superior. Mt. Ashwabay is maintained by the Ashwabay Outdoor Education Foundation which is made up of a combination of volunteers and paid staff. According to Doug, Mt. Ashwabay has 40 kilometers of Nordic Trails and a snow base of around 1.5- to 3-ft. of packed snow. The conditions are excellent for Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and skijoring. For those who may not know, skijoring is skiing with your best, furry friend. You can ski, snowshoe or walk with your dog on a dedicated dog-friendly trail. With snow in the forest as deep as your waist in some spots, having a trail that is groomed and snow-packed is a great way to get Fido some exercise this winter. One of Doug’s responsibilities as the new operations manager will be bringing in new events while also growing popular, current events like the Summit Ski Race (often referred to as the “Pie Race” because the prizes are all pies and other baked goods), the King of the Mountain Race that crowns the fastest male and female and the Chairman of the Board for snowboarders. Doug says Mt. Ashwabay has lots of youth-focused programs like free lift tickets for kids 9 and under, affordable ski lessons and $5 equipment rentals for kids ages 4-10. The setup allows parents to drop off their kids in the morning and pick them up later that day. On Friday evenings, kids can take a bus to the hill and ski until 9 p.m. with music on outdoor speakers. To learn more about these and other events and activities, you can visit the Mt. Ashwabay’s website, mtashwabay.org, or its Facebook page, Mt. Ashwabay Ski & Recreation Area. Mush! We’re Off to the Sled Dog Races There are two popular sled dog races taking place in Bayfield County in February. Jen Dale joins us talk about the area’s original race in Bayfield called the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race and Rob Lombard fills us in one of the area’s newest races - the Northern Pines Sled Dog Race. The Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race takes place Jan. 31 through Feb. 2. Now in its 25th year, 45 to 65 teams compete along this scenic route near Lake Superior. The biggest teams go first in this event, starting with the 10-Dog Class, and followed by the 8- and 6-Dog Races and ending with the Family Fun Recreational Races. What‘s great about the Apostle Islands Course is you can catch all the energy and excitement of the dogs at the start of the race and then go over to the spectator checkpoint to watch the 10-Dog and 8-Dog Races go through twice and still have plenty of time to return to the start to watch the teams come back in. There are bonfires at the start of the race and the spectator checkpoint to keep you toasty, as well as food from a variety of vendors. The three-day event includes the Musher’s Meeting and spaghetti feed (open to the public) on Friday, the first day of racing and a guest speaker on Saturday and additional racing and a quick awards ceremony on Sunday. If you’d like to help out as a volunteer, you can download the volunteer package at https://bayfield.org/festivals-events/apostle-islands-sled-dog-race/voluntourist-packages/. The Northern Pines Sled Dog Race is on Feb. 15 at the Northern Pines Golf Course & Event Center in Iron River. This is a one-day event where you can watch a large portion of the races just steps away from the comfort of the indoors with food and drinks available. Northern Pines has a sprint-race format, which averages about one mile for every dog. The dog teams average about 20 miles per hour for the sprints. There are four classes of races, each with a different number of dogs. If you want to venture out beyond the event center, you can pick up a map there and drive to one of three road-crossing locations to view the races from other vantage points. The Iron River National Fish Hatchery will also be bringing snowshoes that anyone can use for free on the prepared, packed snow trail and Angie’s Bakery is providing free face-painting. For more information about volunteering, sponsorships and registration, visit www.northernpinessdr.com (“sdr”=sled dog race). In this week’s Hot Plates, we talked about the huge remodel ($260 million!) at Sycuan Casino, which is having its grand opening today. Troy got the First Look at the renovation and Bull & Bourbon, the resort’s new signature steakhouse. Also new in town is Louisiana Purchase, a New Orleans-themed restaurant in North Park, and Hess Brewing had the soft opening for its new tasting room in Imperial Beach. We can’t believe it's already been three years since Trust opened in Hillcrest—in honor of the restaurant’s anniversary, Pastry Chef Jeremy Harville is bringing back a selection of the most popular desserts for a limited time. Lastly, we learned that Carnitas' Snack Shack is now known as the Porchetta Shack. Founders Hanis Cavin and Sara Stroud have rebranded their popular pork-centric eatery in North Park, and are no longer affiliated with the location that's on the waterfront. In the guest seat this week is Ted Smith, the new executive chef at Born & Raised, the fancy steakhouse in Little Italy from Consortium Holdings. Ted was formerly the executive chef of Craft & Commerce, and he was also the Chef de Cuisine at Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant. He also spent time in the kitchen at The Four Seasons Resort in Vail, Colorado. Ted shared with us how he’s going to refresh the menu at Born & Raised (we got the scoop on what dish could be taken off the menu) and the table numbers for the best seats in the house. His pick for Two People, $50, was Izakaya Masa in Mission Hills, and SDM staff liked Cesarina, Nolita Hall and Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens Liberty Station. The Hot Topic is a new bill introduced in the California Assembly that could create stricter rules for third-party food delivery services like Uber Eats and DoorDash. AB 1360 would require drivers to get a food handler's permit, and a section of the bill would define the drivers as "contract labor" — which means that restaurants could be liable for drivers. In April of 2012 she started hosting SceneOrlando LIVE. A monthly show at Bikurri Sushi Lounge featuring every genre of electronic music as well as local talent. Which ended it’s four year tenure at the famous Spacebar in the Milk District of Orlando, intent on focusing on her forte’ Kathryn began hosting Resonance during the time she hosted SO LIVE. Resonance focused on soulful, lush, liquid dnb.Birth of DJ K8As a child Katie was surrounded by her singer/songwriter father’s influence. Hearing music on a daily basis it infused music in her blood. As an older child she played in band but preferred to enjoy music as a listener not creator. At the age of 13 in 1993 her brother DJ TCORREY brought home records and two turntables and life was never the same musically. After moving home to pursue a career in music business management, Katie was soaked by a resurgence of electronic music in her life. Still at that point satisfied with being behind the scenes Katie became a “bedroom dj”. Finally after the urging of her brothers and friends Katie spent real time inside the studio and the rest is history.K8 has become versed in multiple genre’s of electronic music. Flexibly playing Breakbeat, House, and Drum and Bass. K8’s true passion is in Liquid Drum and Bass. Anything with a rolling bassline, vocals, and licking highhat is where K8 finds her home.Currently K8 hosts Halcyon Radio which started out on the widely known Rollins College Radio station WPRK. Halcyon Radio was on weekly 7-9 pm EDT at wprk.org or 91.5 fm if you were in the Orlando area. In late 2017 she re-Located to Mid-Michigan and Halcyon Radio re-Launched there on 8.18.18. Brendan Moynahan talks story with JR DeGroote, Sports Editor West Hawaii Today and me at the 2018 PGA TOUR Champions MItsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai on Hawaii Island after the 2nd round was complete and his long time friend Jerry Kelly was one of the leaders. Brendan is the Director of Golf Operations at Hualalai and shares stories about the Mitsubishi Electric Championship and his experiences with many of the Champions Tour players including Jerry Kelly who Brendan met when Brendan was Head Golf Professional at the Experience at Koele on Lanai in Hawaii. Brendan talks about his Dad Mike Moynahan who was a Master Club maker, who won awards for his craft and contributed in many ways to the game of golf and charities. Jerry Kelly won the Mitsubishi Electric Championship and gave Brendan a whole lot of credit for the comfort Jerry feels playing in Hawaii at the Sony and at the Hualalai Golf Course home of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. Brendan represented Hawaii in the US Amateur Golf Tournament in 1987 and 1989. After turning professional in 1991 Brendan won 10 Aloha Section PGA tournaments and represented Hawaii eight times in the PGA Club Professional Championships. Brendan became an associate and teaching golf professional at Kapalua Golf Resort on the island of Maui, upon his return to the Islands, earning more accolades, such as the Maui Golf Magazine Player of the Year award in 1997 and Assistant Professional of the Year in 1998 by the Aloha Section of the PGA. He then moved to Lanai and became the head golf professional of the island’s two esteemed courses. In 2005, Moynahan returned to Hawaii Island, where his family resides, assuming the role of Head Golf Professional at Hualalai Golf Club. In 2009, he was promoted to his current position as Director of Golf.
In the inaugural episode, host Carol Ross interviews the remarkable General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, Mexico. John O’Sullivan: poet, artist, traveler and management guru reveals his compassionate, and innovative leadership philosophy. Through heartfelt anecdotes and insightful reflection, the witty Irish hotelier offers a profound glimpse into what motivates us as employees and managers. To John, "failure is one step on the way to success." With this in mind, he has established a zero blame culture at his hotel because he believes that providing a safe space for his employees to express their creativity is fundamental to success in any organization. The trust John places in his employees is earnestly reciprocated due to his emphasis on managerial consistency, articulated boundaries, and apolitical communication. All of these concepts are parsed in depth on this episode. The 2017 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai will be Tuesday January 17-Saturday January 21. The final round being on Saturday means football fans who love golf too can stay home and watch football on Sunday!!!! Kelly Fliear, Tournament Manager and I have worked together on this tournament for 20 years. We share some stories about what a wonderful week it is in so many ways. Meanwhile here are specifics ... . It's a PGA TOUR Champions tournament with official event champions of the 2015 and 2016 seasons, winners of the majors since 2012 and ten professionals by invitation with a minimum of five or more career victories, including one major. It's a wonderful event for spectators on the beautiful Hualalai Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu. The Pro-Am is on Tuesday January 17-Wednesday January 18 and for the 54 hole stroke play event broadcast with a 1.8 million purse will be broadcast on NBC Golf Channel Thursday, Friday and Saturday January 19-21. Duffy Waldorf will defend. Advance tickets are available at pgatour.com/mec Week. $20 One Day Pass / $40 Tournament Pass (purchase on website) or at the Gate $25 Tournament Day Pass $ 50 Tournament Pass . The PGA Champions Tour players who have qualified for this years tournament are: Michael Allen, Billy Andrade, Woody Austin, Paul Broadhurst, Olin Browne, Mark Calcavecchia, Roger Chapman, Fred Couples, Joe Daley, Marco Dawson, Joe Durant, Carlos Franco, David Frost, Doug Garwood, Paul Goydos, Jay Haas, Kohki Idoki, Lee Janzen, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, Jeff Maggert, Scott McCarron, Rocco Mediate, Colin Montgomerie, Jesper Parnevik, Kenny Perry, Gene Sauers, Jerry Smith, Esteban Toledo, Kirk Triplett, Duffy Waldorf, Mark Wiebe, Ian Woosnam. The 10 sponsor exemptions include John Daly, Fred Funk, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Sandy Lyle, Larry Nelson, Mark O’Meara, Tom Pernice Jr., Loren Roberts, Vijay Singh, Jeff Sluman, Jerry Smith, David Toms, Tom Watson Kelly Fliear, Tournament Manager and Brian Goin, head of PGA Tour Championship Management, Dave Senko, Senior Manager Communications at the PGA Tour, Pete Rolfing, PCR Sports< M and so many others who return each year. While we get an opportunity to see up close, Champions Tour players and be inspired by their golf, I think one of the best aspects of this event for the last 20 years is the funds that have been raised for local charities. The Rotary Club of Kona organizes the volunteers with Kris Hazard and Larry Webb continuing as volunteer co-chairs and in return the tournament donates to the Rotary Club of Kona Community Foundation. Big Island Junior Golf is one of the charities as well. I always look forward to Saturday when the keiki from the Big Island Junior Golf in Hilo sponsored by Mitsubishi come to the tournament after they play their own tournament at Mauna Lani Resort. They are knowledgeable golf fans and so enthused when getting autographs. While players are good with the fans, they are especially attentive to the juniors. In the past Tom Watson and Hale Irwin each year have a special interaction with the keiki joking and interacting with them as they signs autographs. I have friends who were junior golfers when this event started 20 years ago on the Big Island and no question being around this quality golf inspired my friends to practice, get on their high school team, earn college scholarships and a handful are now professional golfers. The Daniel R Sayre Foundation is another one of the charities. The Foundation was created by Dr. Frank and Laura Sayre in memory of their son Daniel who lost his life in a hiking accident 20 years ago in Pololu Valley. Recognizing the need for rescue equipment, the Daniel R Sayre Foundation with tremendous community support has raised well over a million dollars in monies and equipment for our Hawaii County Fire Department and Rescue Teams. David Marr III, Mark Rolfing, and Jay Radzavicz all with NBC Golf Channel return each year to be part of the broadcasts and reports from the Mitsubishi Electric Championship and lend their support for an event at Nanea with some of the Champions Tour players raising funds for the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association. The PGA Tour, Brendan Moynahan, Director of Golf Hualalai Golf Club and his staff, Kahu Billy Mitchell, “Uncle” Earl Regidor Manager, Ka’upulehu Cultural Center, the Four Seasons Resort staff and the volunteers have year after year created a world class event with players that just might inspire you to work on your golf game a little more or volunteer next year.

A little about our guests. John & Andrea have been together for 12 years. They have 2 children, ages 2 and 5. Both children love to do small things in the restaurant and interact with the customers. John was born in Spain and was a military kid, so he travelled a lot. He has a degree in International Business and a Master’s in Business Management. Andrea was born in the Netherlands and raised in Flagstaff, AZ. Her degree is in International Hotel Restaurant Management. She worked at the prestigious Four Seasons Resort in the Finance Management department. They first came up with the idea of opening a restaurant when traveling the world and they were sitting at a pizza shop in Australia. A little about their business. John comes from a restaurant family. The original thought was for a pizzeria. But instead they opened a New Mexican Restaurant. Neither was an entrepreneur before opening the restaurant. La Ristra has been in business for 2 ½ years. They share the duties to maintain a work/life balance. They aren’t together 24/7 so that someone is always with the children. One piece of advice (the nutshell version) Andrea: Let your kids come into the business. It helps them better understand why mommy and daddy are always working. And it gives them a sense of pride. John: Go into something you enjoy and are proud to do. Reading Material Uganda Be Kidding Me by Chelsea Handler Get in Touch with Our Guests La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen638 E. The DIS Unplugged - A Weekly Roundtable Discussion About All Things Disney World
01/14/14 - In this week's show Disney and LucasFilm have announced a new Star Wars animated series, ground has been broken for Avatar land, and we have news about the Four Seasons Resort opening at Walt Disney World.
I always miss our engineer/producer Joe Paulino and the comfort of the awesome Studio P, but a little less so this show because Succotash Epi25 comes directly from the Four Seasons Resort on the island of Maui, Hawaii! No special reason, other than the fact I got a chance to hop over to the islands with friend-of-Succotash Dana Carvey as part of my celebrity ride-along program. It won't sound any different, unfortunately, but you might be able to hear the exotic birds squawking in the courtyard out the window. Actually it DOES sound a little different in one regard: I recorded my tracks with the snappy new iRigMic Cast from 1K Multimedia - a tiny little microphone that plugs directly into the input jack on an iPhone, iPad or Android. GREAT for poddin' on the road! We start off with a Kickstarter update from the X-Files Dean Haglund, who is THIS close to reaching his $7000 goal in order to get his Shock N' Awesome graphic novel off the ground. Just a few days left and, if he DOESN'T get the 7G's, he gets nothing. So start clickin' and kickin' right now - hit the link over in the right hand column of the blog or just click right here. Our special guest this epi is Rich Pinder, one-quarter of the podcast team known as The Anti-Semantic Show. I had a nice chat with him via Skype this past week and we hit on podcasting in general, the equipment his guys use, the prep they do (and DON'T do for the show), and just how this ragtag team of web squawkers got together. We have a new comedy ditty this epi, Let Your Geek Flag Fly, from John Anealio and his album Geek Dad. Thanks to editing, you'd never I had a hell of a time with the pronunciation of John's last name every time I had to say it...so I left one of the stumbling runs at it in the show. You can find more funny tunage from him at JohnAnealio.com. As usual, we close out the show with Will Durst who, as the Presidential election looms ever closer, hones his political barbs sharper and sharper. Don't forget to follow him on Twitter @WillDurst. There are not as many clips as we normally carry this week, because of the interview, but we still have a goodly amount of mostly new (and some old) podcast friends. Who, you're wondering? Take a looksee... Truth Or TruthAnother podcast with semi-anonymous hosts, Truth Or Truth has John and Brandon at the helm. They're been doing their thing - bantering about news stories, movies, TV, entertainment...in short whatever's going on. Check ‘em out at http://truthortruth.com or on iTunes. Oddcast PodcastFrom over in the UK, Essex to be more precise, comes the Oddcast podcast with Adam Barker, Will and Ash. These guys do a lot on movies, looking not just at new releases but older films as well, and the actors who star or starred in them, too! They've hitched their wagon to the Pod Gods Network and have over a year under their podcasting belts. Homesite is http://oddpoduk.wordpress.com or iTunes. Monday Morning PodcastI have to apologize to comedian Bill Burr. I’ve been meaning to play something from his show, the Monday Morning Podcast, for a while but something screwy had happened with my iTunes subscription to it and I wasn’t picking it up every week. (Come on, I have a LOT of podcasts streaming into Succotash Sentral every week!) Funny guy. Funny podcast. Bill Burr. Find him at http://BillBurr.com, iTunes and look for his stuff on YouTube, too! Mental Overload ShowWe play a promo from Jay, Figz and Ace from the Mental Overload show. They sound funny, so check out the show at http://www.mentaloverloadshow.com or on iTunes. Cinematic MethodWe've featured these guys before but Gerry, Chris and Kyle are back. Playing movie clips, reviewing the clips and then predicting where the actual films are going to net out on the Rotten Tomatoes website. Fun premise for a site and guys that really have some nice banter going on. Catch up with them at http://cinematicmethod.com and iTunes. As some of you know, I'm a regular contributor to Jesse David Fox's This Week In Comedy Podcasts up on Splitsider.com. Or maybe I should start saying irregular — I missed the deadline this week due to my Hawaii trip and by the time I got my review for the Laughspin Podcast #4 submitted, it was too late. Rather than have all that hard work disappear into the ether, I figured I'd drop it in here: Comedy for comedy's sake has long been the mainstay of the comedy podcast. Interviews with comedians, audio sketchcasts and even improvisation with suggestions furnished via Twitter have all been part of the comedy podcast engine. Now the news of comedy has reached the download stage with the introduction of the Laughspin Podcast. Originating from Laughspin.com (known as PunchlineMagazine.com up until a year ago) and aims to bring its listeners all the news that's fit to chat about in the world of comedy. Including comedy podcasts. Hosted by Mike Gogel, with Laughspin's editor-in-chief Dylan Gadino Skyping in to help, it remains to be seen if there's enough of an audience to sustain what's basically an unfunny take on comedy news. The two guys are pretty engaging but it's not their place to bring the funny. This show's also not going to be evergreen - when news becomes old news, it no longer makes for compelling listening. So its audience is going to catch it fresh each week and the guys are going to have to keep it fresh just as often. In this episode they talk about NBC's comedy-laden upfronts (the annual trotting out of upcoming new shows for the media), as well as talking about the recent passing of East Coast stalwart Rich Ramirez. There is some comedy to be had in that they play a couple of clips each week related to stories. In their fourth episode, Gogen and Gadino mentioned Comedy Central's new show, The Half Hour, which gave them the excuse to play something from Rory Scovel, who will appear in the premiere episode. Can a podcast about the business of comedy sustain itself? Stay tuned. That's what's the show this epi. We should be coming to you from Studio P next time, and I'm looking forward to a long overdue Boozin' With Bill. In the meantime, enjoy the hell out of this show and please remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
