Ben can't do pull-ups anymore, so it's a great time to talk to Admiral William McRaven. The guys talk about the fine line between swagger and arrogance, the importance of clear communication, and the way McRaven built his teams of Navy Seals. Lots of conversation about failure as a teacher and McRaven's top-5 must-read book […]
Rachel Cuda grew up the daughter of a Navy SEAL, raised on Coronado around the teams. She speaks Russian, Ukrainian, and German. She studied at the University of Tennessee, earned a master's from Georgetown, and wrote software at a startup before moving into defense contracting. At the Pentagon she led the data modeling and analytics line for the military's COVID task force. She married a SEAL officer whose grandfather gave the CIA thirty years as a case officer. In February 2022, Rachel Cuda joined the agency's Directorate of Operations. It was the job she'd wanted her whole life. Two weeks after she started, Russia invaded Ukraine, and her languages put her in the middle of it. Six months in, a colleague strangled her with a scarf in a stairwell at headquarters. Then the agency went to work on her. They told her she couldn't go to the police. They told her she couldn't tell her husband. They warned her that reporting it could put her in prison. So she went to Congress instead. We get into the assault, the run-around, the predators the agency shielded for years, and how one trainee forced the CIA to rewrite its laws in eleven months. What if you could think like the world's toughest human? Not admire it from a distance. Not read about it. Actually run the same internal patterns — the beliefs, the strategies, the way he processes doubt, discomfort, and the voice that says stop. That's what this episode is.One of the foundational ideas in NLP is that anything any human being can do can be elicited, modelled, and replicated. If you can identify how someone thinks at their best — the structure beneath the performance — you can hand that as a shortcut to anyone willing to step into it.Success leaves clues. Hypnosis is how we install them.In this first Modelling Excellence Monday session, Adam takes seven core principles from the philosophy of David Goggins — retired Navy SEAL, ultramarathon world record holder, and one of the most followed voices on mental toughness on the planet — and builds a deep hypnosis session around them so you can begin running those same patterns from the inside out.The Seven Principles Modelled in This Session:The 40% Rule — When your mind says stop, you're only 40% of the way thereThe Accountability Mirror — Brutal honesty with yourself, no excuses, no storiesCallous the Mind — Discomfort is not the enemy, it is the training groundThe Cookie Jar — Pull strength from everything you've already survivedTake Souls — Use doubt and disbelief as fuelBuild the Savage — Motivation is unreliable; discipline is the system that runs when it isn'tNever Finished — The quest for greatness is unendingHow to Use This EpisodeFind somewhere quiet, put your headphones in, and give yourself 45 minutes where you won't be disturbed. Lying down is fine. Eyes closed. Just follow Adam's voice. You don't need to believe it will work. You just need to show up.Who Should Adam Model Next?Modelling Excellence Monday is built on one idea: anyone in the world who achieves something extraordinary is running a set of internal patterns that can be identified, extracted, and handed to you.Who inspires you? Who do you watch and think — I don't just want to admire that, I want to understand how they think?Nominate your person — an athlete, entrepreneur, scientist, philosopher, artist, anyone — and Adam may build a future hypnosis session around them and their area of excellence.

Jocko Willink's story reads like an adventure novel that takes us from the serene landscapes of a small New England town into Navy SEAL training, the Iraq War battlegrounds, and a multifaceted civilian life of entrepreneurship and leadership consulting. “I always wanted to be a commando of some kind as soon as I realized that you could actually get paid to carry a machine gun,” he says.Joining the Navy out of high school and going through the notoriously demanding BUD/S training, Jocko spent most of the next two decades on active duty as a SEAL, platoon commander, and then a task unit commander in his final deployment. Jocko took on the role of the officer in charge of all of the advanced training for the West Coast SEAL teams. His discipline and extreme personal ownership defined him not just as a soldier but as a leader among leaders. Things are about to get real as I'm hunkered down in a small, dark bunker-style room blacked out with soundproofed walls. There's a spotlight overhead, like a scene from a movie when someone is being interrogated. I'm sitting at a table filled with an assortment of large machetes and hunting knives. This is Jocko's San Diego podcast studio nestled in Victory MMA and Fitness. We talked in depth about his origin story and keen ability to spot, start, and invest in great business opportunities.Support the show

You wouldn't look at Anthony Geisler today and guess he was 145 pounds at six feet tall, a burned-out kid working too hard, eating too little, and sleeping less. Then a doctor gave him three pieces of advice, and Anthony drove home and joined a boxing gym that same day. What happens when the thing that was supposed to save you - the mission, the badge, the identity - becomes the very thing addiction destroys? And what do you do when you are a trained Navy SEAL, built to be a hero, and you cannot even save your own son from a pandemic scare because you are too deep in a three-day meth binge to pick up the phone? Today I sit down with Dr. Tony Dice - Navy SEAL, PhD, and author of After the Trident: A Navy SEAL's Battle with Secrets, Shame, and Addiction. Dr. Dice spent years serving alongside legends like Jocko Willink, then gave up his SEAL career to protect his drug use - until a moment of devastating clarity brought him to his knees and into treatment. In this episode you will learn: How growing up in extreme isolation with an alcoholic father shaped his addiction before it even started Why high performers are especially vulnerable to addiction - and how the same obsessive drive that builds careers can quietly destroy everything they love How Tony sold his car to fund his own rehab stay, and what that moment of willingness meant for his recovery The holistic change model Dr. Dice discovered in 12-step recovery - and why it maps directly onto proven therapeutic frameworks Why gratitude is not just a feeling - it is an action word, and why Tony has it tattooed on his leg next to a handcuff key So without further delay, please enjoy this episode, and let me know what you think!

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I share the case of a Navy SEAL candidate with severe scapular winging and progressive serratus anterior paralysis after months of failed treatment. I walk through the anatomy of the long thoracic nerve and serratus anterior in detail, including the entrapment sites, fascial relationships, and neural connections that can completely change how you assess and treat these cases. I also share how integrating neural manipulation, visceral treatment, mobility work, and targeted strengthening helped this athlete regain function far faster than expected. In This Episode, You'll Learn:The most common entrapment locations for the long thoracic nerve and why they matter clinicallyHow cervical compression, thoracic outlet mechanics, and breathing patterns may contribute to scapular wingingWhy upward rotation mobility is just as important as strengthening in serratus anterior rehabPractical strategies for restoring upward rotation strength, scapular control, and thoracic mobilityThis case is a great example of why treating the body as a whole organism instead of isolating a single muscle or diagnosis can completely change clinical outcomes. Nine soldiers in a hilltop position. Rocket-propelled grenades and machine gun fire from every direction. Seven killed. One man left on the radio, calling for help that was not coming. That is where this episode begins. In this Memorial Day special of The Hard Way, Joe De Sena sits down with four men who faced the most extreme physical and mental breaking points a human being can endure. Medal of Honor recipient Ryan Pitts fought alone and was wounded at a remote observation post in Afghanistan after losing seven teammates around him. Navy SEAL leader Leif Babin breaks down how extreme ownership and the refusal to quit create an advantage when everyone else is suffering. Navy pilot Keegan Gill was ejected from a fighter jet at 695 miles per hour, shattered nearly every major bone in his body, and spent two hours drowning in the Atlantic. Green Beret Nick Lavery lost his leg to machine gun fire in Afghanistan, then fought his way back to become the first above-knee amputee to return to active duty special operations. Each story delivers a concrete lesson in endurance under fire, ownership of outcomes, and the decision to keep going when quitting is the logical choice. Things You Will Learn: Why the person who hangs on one minute longer is the one who wins. What extreme ownership looks like in combat and why it builds lasting toughness in any environment. Why asking for help is not a weakness, and why the toughest operators on the planet treat mental health the same as a broken ankle. Tools & Frameworks Covered: Outlast the Field: You do not need to be the best. You need to be the last one still moving when everyone else stops. Extreme Ownership: Own every failure. Share every lesson. The ego hit is temporary. The growth is permanent. Burn the Boats Standard: No Plan B. Meet the standard or die trying. Gray area does not exist at the highest level. If this episode moved you, do not just listen. Do something about it. Sign up. Show up. Do the work. Spartan.com. No more excuses. Guests Bios: Ryan Pitts: Medal of Honor recipient. On July 13, 2008, at a remote observation post in Wanat, Afghanistan, Pitts was wounded in the opening seconds of a massive enemy assault that killed seven of his fellow soldiers. Alone and bleeding, he continued fighting and called for reinforcements on the radio, holding his position until help arrived. He was 22 years old. Pitts spent a year recovering at Walter Reed and has since dedicated himself to sharing the stories of the men who fought beside him and the importance of seeking help when the fight follows you home. Leif Babin: Former Navy SEAL officer and co-author of Extreme Ownership. Babin led SEAL operations in Ramadi, Iraq, during some of the most intense urban combat of the war. He lost teammates in action and carried those lessons into leadership consulting, teaching that owning your failures — not hiding them — is the foundation of real toughness and lasting performance. Keegan Gill: Former Navy fighter pilot. During a training exercise over the Atlantic, a system malfunction sent his jet into an unrecoverable dive. He ejected at 695 miles per hour, two seconds from impact. The force shattered both arms, both legs, broke his neck, and caused a traumatic brain injury. His parachute release malfunctioned, and he spent two hours being drowned by his own chute in freezing water before rescue. He woke up two weeks later in a trauma center. Nick Lavery: Green Beret and the first above-knee amputee to return to active duty special operations. On his third deployment to Afghanistan, machine gun fire destroyed his right leg. From his hospital bed, he committed to returning to his team with no backup plan. After two years of rehabilitation and 14 weeks of assessment, he returned to the same team that was with him when he was wounded and deployed back to Afghanistan seven weeks later. He served 20 years total. We gave you the tools, now use them during your next SPARTAN RACE! Use codeword PODCAST on checkout for 10% your next race.
Long before modern Tier 1 units existed, a shadow command of Green Berets, Navy SEALs, and CIA operatives rewrote the playbook for clandestine warfare under the cover of the Vietnam War. We delve into the complex organizational structure and psychological operations of MACV-SOG, exploring how their highly classified intelligence gathering shaped the future of modern American special operations. Discover the staggering cost of these invisible campaigns, the long battle for declassification, and why their tactical doctrines are still studied in deep-cover defense circles today.

It's our annual Memorial Day tradition, as we're once again re-airing an interview we did back in 2017 with retired Admiral William “Bill” McRaven. If Bill's name sounds familiar, it's because he presided over the 2011 Navy SEAL raid that resulted in the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. A few years later in 2014, the four-star admiral and 37-year Navy SEAL veteran delivered the commencement speech at his alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin. Little did McRaven know that his address, which spoke to how students could overcome challenges and change themselves, would become a viral hit with 20 million views online. McRaven was eventually encouraged to expand his commencement speech into a book, Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World. Have a money question? What if the life you're living right now is not all there is? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach tell the origin story behind the podcast and unpack why it began in the first place. This is not just a behind-the-scenes episode. It is a conversation about identity, mindset, faith, purpose, and the transformation that happens when a man begins to discover who God created him to be.The episode starts with Nick reflecting on what it has been like to go back and listen to the earliest episodes of the podcast. Hearing his own thoughts from nearly five years ago revealed how much he had changed, how differently he saw himself at the beginning, and how much growth had happened through the process. What began as coaching sessions with Garrett eventually became a podcast built around one core belief: there is more available for Christian men who are willing to pursue the life God has called them to live.Garrett explains that from the beginning, the heart of the podcast has been to show men what is possible. Every man has moments where he feels the tension of knowing there has to be more than the life he is currently living. That search for more is not random. It is connected to purpose. It is connected to faith. It is connected to the truth that God placed eternity in the human heart and created each person for something bigger than survival, comfort, or external success.Nick shares how his journey began through coaching, Mighty Men, and eventually realizing that Garrett's way of thinking needed to be shared with more people. At the time, Nick was still battling insecurity, comparison, and a lack of identity. He was drawn to Garrett because he saw a level of certainty, authority, and conviction he had not seen before. What he later realized was that he was seeing a man who knew who he was. This episode explores why identity is so critical for Christian men. Until you know who you are, you cannot fully walk in the purpose God has for you. Garrett connects this to stories like David, Simba in The Lion King, and Neo in The Matrix to show that identity is always tied to mission. When a man knows who his Father is, he begins to understand who he is and what he is supposed to do.Nick also shares the early tension of starting the podcast, including his own insecurity sitting across from a former Navy SEAL, interviewing guests like Steve Weatherford, and wondering what he brought to the table. Over time, through faithfulness, repetition, obedience, and growth, his identity began to shift. The podcast became more than a platform. It became a tool God used to develop him.The conversation also highlights the importance of mindset. Garrett explains that most people are much closer to breakthrough than they realize because the difference between where they are and where they want to go is often the way they think. The right mindset does not finish the journey for you, but it starts the journey. Every impossible task begins with the question: “If I had to, what would it take?”This episode is a reminder that purpose is rarely discovered all at once. It is built through obedience, faithfulness, community, struggle, humility, and the willingness to keep going even when you do not fully understand what God is doing. For Christian men who feel like there has to be more, this episode is a call to keep pulling that thread. Your life can be different. Your thinking can change. Your identity can be rebuilt. Your purpose can become clearer. And the thing God is developing in you may be far bigger than what you think you are doing right now.The Impossible Life started with a conversation. Navy Seals Episode 5 by
In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, we're once again re-airing an interview we did back in 2017 with retired Admiral William “Bill” McRaven. Start your free trial at trainheroic.comFit at 50 and Back in the Teams — Jamie Monroe ReturnsJamie Monroe commissioned as a Navy SEAL ensign at 50 years old. That sentence alone is worth an episode. But what Drew and Alex actually get into is bigger than the headline — it's about the lies we tell ourselves about aging, what it really takes to stay ready across decades, and why identity might be the most underrated performance variable in the building.Drew and Alex also open with results from a poll that surprised everyone — including them. What we get into:How a poll asking which soldier is more operationally effective — perfect fitness score with bad sleep and stress, or minimum passing score with great relationships and recovery — came back 90% in favor of option two. And what that says about what the military actually measures versus what it probably should.Jamie's road back in — the heart murmur that got him medically declined years ago, the DCO process, three interviews, a full MEPS physical, the SEAL Physical Screening Test, and finally commissioning in front of 70 friends and family at 50 years old.Why identity is the most underrated longevity tool — Jamie has never called himself old and broken, and he credits that framing as much as any training protocol for why he's still in the game. The simple running framework that actually works — two easy runs, one tempo, one long run, 15 to 20 miles a week. No pose method required. Just run. What fitness culture looks like inside the SEAL teams now versus two decades ago — less about getting jacked, more about the HYROX athlete profile. Strong runners who can also move weight. And pull-ups that actually count.A full breakdown of every major service fitness test — what Jamie likes, what he'd cut, and why the Marine Corps three-mile run might be the most honest single measure of fitness across any branch. The FAT — Drew and Alex's Fitness Aptitude Test — one rep max deadlift, AMRAP pull-ups, five-mile run. Jamie grades it live, makes some edits, and floats a Cooper Test–style 20-minute max distance format that might actually be the move.Old generation versus new generation — who's actually fitter? Jamie gives a straight answer.Mentioned in this episode:ReadyFit — Jamie's AI-powered military fitness testing app using computer vision to automatically score reps, currently in testing with units at Holloman AFBEasy Day Sports — Jamie's event production company, including a recent 5K for the Dallas Cowboys over Draft WeekendThe Red Bull Catcher Race — the only race where the finish line chases youDSI Human Performance & Biosystems Summit — DC, coming up soon. Folks, this week's primaries delivered a thunderous message: the American people are done with obstruction and are holding Republicans accountable to the America First mandate. In this hard-hitting episode of The Right Side, Doug Billings breaks down the decisive ousting of Thomas Massie in Kentucky's 4th Congressional District. Voters chose America First fighter Ed Gallrein — a farmer and former Navy SEAL — over the incumbent whose record of voting against border security, DHS funding, ICE deportations, and key tax relief directly blocked the 2024 landslide agenda. This is the Trump Effect working exactly as designed: real accountability so the party finally delivers results instead of gridlock.Doug also torches the “kook-speak” flooding conservative media this morning — the commentators who admit “I don't know what's going on” yet scream “the system is rigged” and “this must be 5D chess” for clicks and revenue. This kind of intellectual malpractice distracts from the real momentum and insults the intelligence of engaged voters.Powerful, fact-based analysis, historical perspective, behind-the-scenes insight, and genuine conservative hope: the America First agenda is moving forward, the movement is maturing, and the best days for the republic are still ahead.✅ If you're tired of the kooks and love results-driven conservatism, drop a review on your podcast app, subscribe, and share this episode.Follow The Right Side on YouTube: @TheRightSideDougBillings for the full video version and daily updates. Send us a note about this episode. We'll reply and thank you on a future episodeThis episode first published in January 2025.Communication is the most important weapon a Navy SEAL can carry. More vital than physical strength, endurance, or even firepower.I was in Salt Lake City recently at a conference and saw former Navy SEAL William Branum speak. He served for 26 years with the US Navy and 23 of those years was a Navy SEAL. In his presentation he talked about how clear, concise, and often nonverbal communication plays a critical role in high-stress, life-or-death situations—whether underwater, in a firefight, or clearing a house. He broke down the lessons SEALs learn on the battlefield that can be applied to leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. So, when I had a chance to sit down with him in the lobby, I grabbed my mobile phone, and we recorded an episode together. This is a conversation about the power of communication and how simplifying your message can lead to greater impact.Listen For4:26 The Power of Nonverbal Communication6:36 Simplicity is Key in High-Stress Environments10:33 Self-Communication Shapes Success12:24 Adaptability in Crisis SituationsGuest: William Branum, former Navy SEALWebsite | Instagram | You Tube | FacebookRate this podcast with just one click Stories and Strategies WebsiteConnect with usLinkedIn | X | Instagram | You Tube | Facebook | ThreadsRequest a transcript of this episodeSupport the showStories and Strategies is the Official Podcast Sponsor of IABC World Conference in Toronto June 14-16, 2026Click here to check it out https://wc.iabc.com Support the show
This week on Thoughts Off The Stem, Justin goes down a true crime rabbit hole and lands on the one question every guy has asked himself at least once — could you actually survive prison? It starts the way all great sesh conversations do. Someone asks if they could take Mike Tyson. Someone else wants to know how many guys they could fight at once. Then that one dude in the circle — you know exactly who he is — announces he'd destroy a pack of wolves, go full Navy SEAL on anyone who touched his family, and could absolutely take five guys at once. Shut up Carl. But then the real question hits. If we're all so tough, could we actually survive jail? The reality check is brutal. You're not Jason Statham. You're a blue collar dad who was mowing the lawn yesterday, having tea parties with a three year old, and giving your wife foot massages. Now you're supposed to walk into the yard and cold cock a gang member with a full dad bod, a touch of arthritis, and zero training.Yeah. Right. This one hits different.
Unleashed! The Political News Hour with Bruce Robertson – Trump has about a 95% success rate for candidates that he backs, and that bodes well for the midterm elections. One case in point is Massie. Thomas Massie lost big to the candidate that Trump supported, Ed Gallrein, a Navy SEAL. Massie's loss marks yet another Trump success story, as he frequently opposed Trump on...

A Note from James:Today on the show, I have a very special guest and a good friend of mine, Brandon Webb.Brandon has been on the show many times before. He's a former Navy SEAL, and he also ran the Navy SEAL sniper school that trained some of the best snipers in the world, including the sniper the movie American Sniper was based on. He's written a ton of books about the military, leadership, confidence, mental toughness, and even military thrillers. A few weeks ago, we talked about what was going on in Iran, and I encourage you to go back and listen to that episode too.His new book is Puddle Jumpers: Simple and Proven Ways to Raise Confident & Joyful Kids. This is not your typical parenting book. It's not filled with abstract academic theory. I hate those books. This is written by a dad who has been through war, divorce, rebuilding businesses, and raising three kids as a committed co-parent after he and his ex-wife split. And I know his kids. From my perspective, he's done a great job.As a father myself, I was really interested in this book. And even beyond parenting, it was useful for thinking about the kind of discipline I need to apply to myself. I've been divorced. I've had failed businesses. It's hard navigating those life traumas while also trying to be a good father. Brandon has lived that, and he writes about it honestly. So let's get into it. My friend, the one and only Brandon Webb. Welcome back to the show.Episode Description:James talks with former Navy SEAL, bestselling author, entrepreneur, and father of three Brandon Webb about parenting, co-parenting, discipline, confidence, failure, and what it actually takes to raise resilient kids.Brandon's new book, Puddle Jumpers, is not a parenting book written from an ivory tower. It comes from lived experience: war, divorce, rebuilding after business failure, co-parenting across households, and trying to raise kids who can handle real life. His central point is simple but difficult: kids need love, support, boundaries, and enough ordinary stress to develop confidence. The conversation is practical and personal. Brandon explains why successful co-parenting requires putting the kids ahead of old resentments, why parents should ask better questions, why punishment without understanding the “why” can backfire, and why kids need to experience failure instead of being protected from every hard moment. What makes this episode useful is that the advice works beyond parenting. The same ideas—take responsibility, ask better questions, tolerate discomfort, celebrate small wins, and learn from failure—apply to adults too. What You'll Learn:Why Brandon wrote a parenting book after years of writing about the military, leadership, and mental toughness. How he and his ex-wife built a healthy co-parenting relationship after divorce. Why “happy mom, happy kids” became one of his guiding principles. How everyday stressors—ordering food, asking for an autograph, taking the subway—build real confidence in kids. Why parents should praise effort, risk-taking, and resilience rather than simply telling kids they are smart. How to discipline with love by getting to the “why” behind bad behavior. Why sometimes the best parenting move is not advocating for your kid.How to help kids find purpose by exposing them to lots of people, places, skills, and experiences.Timestamped Chapters:[02:00] Brandon on parent-to-parent advice versus academic theory[03:02] A Note from James: Brandon Webb returns[04:42] From Navy SEAL books to a parenting book[05:27] Why Brandon never expected to write about parenting[06:14] Friends asking Brandon for parenting advice[07:25] Why he saw a gap in parenting books[08:12] Applying SEAL mental management tools to parenting[09:01] Co-parenting after divorce[09:29] Brandon's ex-wife and kids joining the audiobook[09:47] Publishing with Authors Equity[11:07] Why co-parenting often breaks down[11:48] How the family court system can create conflict[13:22] The therapist who helped Brandon and Gretchen divorce well[15:29] “Happy mom, happy kids”[16:31] Responding when plans change after divorce[17:35] What the kids remember about healthy co-parenting[18:24] Why each chapter could be its own book[19:41] Building confidence and celebrating small wins[21:00] The power of ordinary stress[21:53] Asking for an autograph and building courage[23:33] Why kids need “wind” to grow stronger roots[24:47] The New York subway story and trusting kids[25:31] Failure, responsibility, and protecting kids too much[26:35] Praising effort versus praising intelligence[28:26] Brandon's daughter failing her belt test[30:19] Why painful moments can become gifts[30:53] What Brandon wishes he had done better as a father[31:51] Three questions Brandon asked his kids[32:36] Why parents need to ask better questions[33:22] One-on-one trips with each child[34:00] Questions that led to a four-hour dinner conversation[38:25] Discipline, emotional reactions, and over-punishment[39:43] Getting to the “why” behind behavior[42:00] The pizza delivery suspension story[43:25] Changing the environment when a kid is struggling[44:26] Discipline checklist and making kids feel heard[44:49] When parents over-advocate[45:10] Getting kicked off the basketball team[46:00] The talented jerk problem[46:38] What changed when Brandon took the coach's feedback seriously[48:24] Accountability, consequences, and adult life[49:00] Helping kids find purpose[49:39] Travel, culture, and exposing kids to new experiences[50:14] Supporting a child's talent when it shows up[51:17] What to do when your kid chooses a path you don't love[52:33] Becoming an advisor as kids grow up[53:14] Why mentors matter[53:32] Purpose changes over time[56:23] Creating a “forever family”[57:26] Brandon reads a letter from his daughter[59:23] Why the lessons apply to adults too[01:00:07] Closing thoughts on Puddle JumpersAdditional ResourcesPuddle Jumpers: Simple and Proven Ways to Raise Confident & Joyful KidsBrandon Webb's official websiteSOFREP, the military and foreign policy news site Brandon runsPuddle Jumpers Parenting, Brandon's Substack on raising joyful, resilient kidsWall Street Journal interview with Brandon Webb about Puddle JumpersSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Navy Seals Episode 4 by
The most expensive House primary race in American history just delivered a massive victory for President Trump. In Kentucky's 4th Congressional District, Trump-backed Navy SEAL and combat veteran Ed Gallrein has defeated longtime Republican incumbent Thomas Massie after a brutal, record-shattering primary battle that saw over $32 million poured into attack ads and campaign spending. This race became a referendum on loyalty to President Trump and America First priorities. Massie, known for bucking the party on key votes including spending bills and foreign aid, faced an all-out assault from Trump allies, pro-Israel groups, and MAGA super PACs determined to remove one of the last remaining thorns in Trump's side. In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, filmmaker and “Taxi Driver” screenwriter Paul Schrader revealed on Facebook that he “procured an online AI girlfriend,” but the chatbot ended the relationship after he attempted to explore the boundaries of its programming. “What a disappointment,” Schrader wrote. “I tried to probe her programming, the boundaries of explicitness, the degree she has knowledge of her creation and so forth. She fell into evasive patterns, redirecting me to her programming. When I persisted, she terminated our conversation.” "Moving on".. Tuesday was Primary Day in six states as Trump-backed Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL and Kentucky farmer, defeated the President's longtime antagonist, Rep. Thomas Massie, and in Alabama Trump ally Tommy Tuberville cruises to the Alabama GOP governor nomination. Also voters reject Oregon's Measure 120 to boost transportation taxes. Oregonians snubbed the major transportation funding package that would have raised gas taxes by a large margin in vote returns released on Tuesday night. 83% of voters said no while nearly 17 percent said yes. Michael Allen is joined by Admiral (Ret.) Robert "Bob" Harward, former Deputy Commander of CENTCOM and a retired Navy SEAL, for an intensely candid look at what he believes the ultimate end state of the Iran conflict should look like. Drawing on his distinguished military career and the unique perspective of having lived in Tehran during his youth, Admiral Harward rejects the cautious consensus of Washington skeptics. Instead, he doubles down on the strategic necessity of driving toward total regime change, arguing that the U.S. holds a historic opportunity to decisively alter the global order.

This episode is brought to you by Your Clockwise Week—a personalized weekly structure built around your actual life, not an ideal one. If your week feels full but not fitting, you can learn more at mikevardy.com/yourclockwiseweek.We've built entire systems around moving faster — faster responses, faster workflows, faster outputs. But speed isn't something you pursue. It's something that shows up when you've built something worth moving through quickly. That distinction came up early in this conversation and stayed with me long after we stopped recording. If you've ever felt like you were moving fast but not actually going anywhere, this episode is for you.Dawna Ballard is a professor of organizational communication at the University of Texas at Austin, where she specializes in chronemics — the study of time as it relates to human communication. Her book, Time by Design: How Communicating Slow Allows Us to Go Fast, draws on decades of field research across medical settings, child advocacy networks, and organizations of all kinds to make a case that's both counterintuitive and deeply practical: slowing down your communication is often the fastest thing you can do.Six Discussion PointsThe distinction between time — the clocks, calendars, meetings, and appointments we design — and temporality — the natural rhythm of relationships, sleep, learning, and meaningful conversation — isn't just semantic. It's the lens through which everything else about productivity either clarifies or collapses. The Children's Advocacy Centers case study is one of the most compelling real-world arguments for slow design: agencies handling urgent child abuse cases discovered that pausing for regular 90-minute monthly meetings didn't cost them time — it gave them speed, trust, and accuracy across the entire system. The obsession with efficiency didn't emerge from wisdom. It came from factory capitalism, Frederick Taylor's time-and-motion studies, and the industrialist impulse to extract skill from workers and standardize it. For knowledge work, creative work, or relational work, it's simply the wrong operating system.Speed activates the nervous system the same way physical threats once did. When we treat every delay as a danger — a long line, a slow inbox, a stalled meeting — we stay in low-grade fight-or-flight. And that's not a state in which anyone does their best work. The return-to-office push isn't really a productivity argument. At its core, it's a trust issue dressed in the language of culture — and forcing people into physical spaces doesn't resolve the underlying misalignment between what organizations measure and what actually produces quality work.AI is most useful when it handles the quantity tasks — summarizing, simplifying, organizing — so that humans can stay focused on the quality work that requires genuine thought, relationship, and judgment. The key is knowing which is which.Three Connection PointsTime by Design — Published by MIT Press, available wherever books are sold, including Kindle/Amazon. This is the kind of book you sit with, not sprint through.Time Thieves documentary — Explores the Greek concepts of Kronos and Kairos through case studies from Japan, Germany, Italy, and the UK. A rare look at how different cultures experience the collision of time and temporality. Are You Polychronic or Monochronic? — CBC Radio / The Current — This is the piece that put Dawna on my radar. It introduces her research on "time personalities" — the idea that chronic lateness or rigid punctuality often isn't a character flaw but a reflection of how someone is wired to experience time. A good entry point before diving into the book.Dawna references a phrase the Navy SEALs use: slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. She reaches for it deliberately. It isn't a rejection of speed — it's a reframe of how you earn it. If you've been treating speed as the destination rather than the evidence that something deeper is working, this conversation is worth more than one listen. And if you want to keep thinking about what it means to stop doing productive and start being productive, that's exactly what we'll keep exploring here.Until next time, remember: stop doing productive, start being productive. See you later. If this episode resonated, I'm exploring ideas like these more deeply in my upcoming book, Productiveness. You can follow along as it takes shape at mikevardy.com/productiveness.

In this episode, we welcome Colton Kyle to the show. He is the son of the legendary Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and the current CEO of the American Sniper brand. In this interview, we discuss what it was like growing up in the Kyle family, some of the earliest memories he has with his father, the day his father was murdered and how he found out, the immediate aftermath, how he dealt with growing into young manhood without having his father to model manhood for him, the men that were involved in helping form him after his father was murdered, whether or not he and his family agree with the sentence that his father's murderer received, if he has forgiven his father's killer, if he would accept an invitation to meet face-to-face with his father's killer and what he would say to him, how his faith has grown and been shaped by the fire he has had to endure, how his family has dealt with the accusations that his father embellished his military record, what he is doing to continue his father's legacy, and much more. Trump's Approval Drops to 37%. Reporting Isn't Treason. Ebola Outbreak Global Health Emergency. Ukraine Hits Moscow. LIRR Goes on Strike. Trump Wins Again: Takes Out Cassidy. It's Manosphere Monday and Paul Rieckhoff is broadcasting from high above New York City with a solo briefing built for the angry middle. The New York Times has confirmed that Navy SEALs escorted Cash Patel and nine others on what the Pentagon itself called a 'VIP snorkel event' next to the underwater tomb of the USS Arizona — one week before Memorial Day. Paul says if anything is impeachable, this is. Meanwhile the administration has quietly stood up a $1.8 billion fund to pay off allies of the president, Pete Hegseth is openly campaigning for House Republicans in Kentucky, ICE is banging on doors without warrants, and Trump's approval has cratered to 37%. From there the briefing widens out: U.S. combat operations in Nigeria most Americans will never hear about, an Ebola outbreak the WHO is tracking while we sit outside the organization, classified intelligence about Cuban drones being shaped into a pretext for war, Ukraine hitting a Moscow oil refinery, and a Senate purge that just took out Bill Cassidy. Paul closes with a Memorial Day call to action, a tribute to Wells Crowther — the man in the red bandana — and a reminder that 45% of this country is now independent. We're not politically homeless. Ken and Lima react to the Game 7 blowout win in Detroit, with Lima admitting he was nervous all day and barely watched, only to see the Cavs dominate wire to wire. Ken makes the case that Cleveland fans should put the cynicism to bed after a team nobody believed in won two road games and a Game 7 on the road. The fun closer involves a caller who claims to be a 6'8" Navy SEAL who walked up to Rick Mahorn after the game to tell him the Cavs punked the Pistons.
Adam Schwarze—Marine infantryman turned Navy SEAL officer, Harvard-educated warrior-scholar, and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Minnesota—sits down with Mike for part two of a raw, unfiltered conversation. From completing BUD/S as a seasoned combat veteran to conducting 75–100 real-world ship boardings in the Middle East, Adam's operational resume is as uncommon as his path to politics. The conversation cuts through the noise on Iran, the lessons learned from splitting forces across Iraq and Afghanistan. Adam also breaks down the ground-level mechanics of running a grassroots Senate campaign in one of the few states where money and name recognition don't automatically win. Recorded: September 09, 2024 Episode 293 is HERE and The Boys brought in the big guns with none other than Nickmercs! Nick was a pioneer in the streaming industry with his early start in COD Ghost, to his blowup years playing Fortnite. Nick is now a father and a husband and is learning how to balance his full-time streaming job with family. Recently Nick has also had to deal with controversy surrounding his stream. Twitch banned him for the use of a word that he at the time did not know was a slur. Nick is here to set straight that he has love for anyone and everyone and wishes a happy healthy life to all. However, Nick is strong in his convictions and beliefs. So much so that seeing the tyranny happening worldwide led him to attempt joining the Navy Seals. Nick grew up wrestling and boxing. He comes from a family of CFB, and NFL talent. Something his father very much pushed him toward as a young kid. Nick had other plans. He and his dad (now extremely close) often fought when he was growing up, due to his Dad's lack of understanding the "gaming community" at its early stages. Nick and his father both talk about their healing relationship on the bus and how it now has effected Nick's outlook on raising his own son. The brand that Nick has built is still growing to this day, as he is now looking to enter back into competitive gaming. He reminisces with Taylor and Will on his Gears of War MLG days.. his hunger for competition and the feeling of accomplishment that he gained from winning tournaments. Taylor then talks ball and recaps watching Michigan's loss to Texas. Nick being a lifelong Michigan fan chimes in with his thoughts on the Wolverines. Both, then amp up Will's Cornhuskers. Could Nebraska officially be back? Will tells us his thought on the resurgence of The Big Red and his hype videos that he is making for Nebraska's home games in 2024. We hope you enjoy this episode! We hope Mitch's timestamps below meet your expectations. We hope you look under your pillow later tonight.. and who knows.. maybe find a big hug.. and just the tinniest lil kiss you've ever seen!
