He won the Pulitzer Prize for reporting on global terrorism while at the New York Times, who later fired him for speaking out against the Iraq war. He joins Michael to speak on Afghanistan, the collapse of the American empire, the upcoming 9/11 anniversary, and the end of abortion rights in Texas (and around the U.S.) Hedges was a war correspondent for many years and has seen awful human degradation, societies in collapse, social bonds being ruptured, and people turning to “self-destructive behavior and magical thinking.” Alarmingly, he sees all of these signals of decay here in America. Hedges has also studied the Evangelical Christian Right in America and wrote a prescient book in 2008 titled, “American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America.” He details the decades-long battle on women's reproductive rights, the cynical and dishonest methods used to restrict access to abortion and how this pernicious form of fascism has only grown stronger since that book was published. However, as a teacher, an ordained Presbyterian minister, and a graduate from Harvard's Divinity School, Hedges draws on the teachings of great philosophers and theologians to lay out a moral imperative for solidarity and struggle and explains why we must not succumb to despair. There are very few people who have an unstoppable mindset - the type of people you would trust in any situation regardless of what is going on. Christian Lopez is a financial analyst, college graduate, co-host of the Demi-God Chronicles, and self-improvement aficionado. He's one of the most well-read folks we've had on the podcast and I can't say enough about his presence and articulation. At the age of 8, Christian was separated from his mother and sister in a custody battle. He was forced to live with his father for 6 years, and in the cold winter of 2004, he began to experience life differently. Leaving Garfield, NJ to attend a catholic school in 2010, Christian's life began to open up in a positive way. He found himself striving on the football field and later attended Muhlenberg College to play football after high school. Muhlenberg showed him an entirely different side to life. https://www.christianblopez.com/post/what-i-learned-in-100-seasons (More on Christians's story on his website. ) In this episode we cover: Overcoming introversion to become a podcast host Thinking outside of the box to create podcast content The power of mindset in your life How Christian had to change his entire identity as a football player after college How comments about his veganism fueled him to become obsessed with his fitness goals How the self-esteem movement ruined a generation of kids What it takes to learn a second language Budget your time effectively to remain ambitious and accomplish your goals This was seriously a life-changing episode for me. In this episode of the EMEA Recruitment podcast, we were delighted to welcome Christian Nilsson, the CFO for the ABB Electrification business. “The more diverse the crowd you spend your life with, the wider your learning ought to be.” Christian joined Paul Toms, our Founder, via a video call, which has become the norm for communicating across the business world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Paul kicked off the conversation by asking whether Christian has taken any positive learnings from the past year. Although it has been an incredibly difficult year in many ways, Christian has found that the new ways of working can have a positive impact both professionally and personally. Having worked across a range of countries within the business transformation field, Christian explains the three components that have been key to his success. Trust and empowerment within his teams are top of the list. It’s unsurprising that Christian also values diversity of mindset, which taught him a lot when based in the USA, China and European countries. Although he spent a “tonne of time” travelling around the world pre-COVID, life has changed a lot since then. One thing that hasn’t changed for Christian is the way that he prioritises his day. After hearing about Christian’s focus on his team, it’s no surprise that people are top of his list in a typical working day. Finding good people for his team is one of Christian’s greatest challenges, but he believes that it’s also the most powerful result when you get it right. He tells Paul which traits are most difficult to find when recruiting. Looking at how the Finance function may change in the future, Christian explains how we must find and use data to improve decision-making. But will people within Finance teams be treated more like machines than humans if decisions are based on data? Christian is confident that we may actually have more time to focus on people and personalities if Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can harvest the data we need. Although Christian didn’t wake up one day and know that he wanted to spend his life in Finance, he feels lucky to have worked for companies that place Finance close to the business and decision-making. If you’re looking to become a Chief Financial Officer in the future, he ends with some advice on grasping opportunities and experiences to expand your scope. This week I’m speaking with Christian Giordano, president and majority shareholder of Mancini Duffy, a technology first design firm based in New York City and New Jersey. Christian is an innovator, an entrepreneur, a visionary, and a disruptor; he’s the inventor of The Toolbelt LLC, a software suite that allows users to explore and manipulate 3D models collaboratively to explore and make decisions together. He also the host of the Anti-Architect Podcast. He has been highlighted as one of Building Design + Construction’s “40 Under 40” Class of 2013. With his leadership of Mancini Duffy, Christian saw a unique opportunity to recalibrate Mancini’s approach — emphasizing technology to transform the way designers across disciplines work. He launched a research & development incubator – dubbed the Design Lab – which brings together designers, technologists, and clients to leverage technologies like Virtual Reality, 3D Printing, Drones, Generative Design, and Artificial Intelligence to break barriers limiting design capabilities. What began as an internal incubator, has quickly grown to disrupt the way the design process is facilitated. Paul Vanderklay is a minister in the Christian Reformed Church of North America. In this conversation we talk about Jordan Peterson's / John Vervaeke's / Jonathan Pageau's and Sam Harris' influence on "new Christianity."This wasn't going to be releaseed because Paul Vanderklay and I had our schedule's jumbled; meaning, I had simultaneous people vying for my attention due to double-booking meetings and as a result, am not as present as I would have liked to be. However, due to a few requests I'm releasing and hopefully you enjoy, since Peter does a superlative job in my absence (despite the issues with the sound quality). Is your business succeeding or failing? Somewhere in between? If you’re struggling to answer that question, Peter Christian’s debut book can help. In What About the Vermin Problem?, Christian shares the good, bad, and ugly business practices that he’s witnessed over his long career as a consultant and leader for companies like Crayola®️. We cover a lot of ground in this week’s episode, including: [00:21] The most important policies and procedures to have in place from the beginning of your company [00:50] The main difference, from Christian’s perspective, between a startup and an established company [02:50] The number one systems implementation issue companies face [04:30] What makes information systems difficult and how the right disciplines can protect you from pain. [06:30] How consultants help you understand readiness for new initiatives and projects [08:00] Understanding business tools versus personal needs and how the human element matters for good optimizations [09:23] Mitigating risk by knowing what we don’t want or need to do in our work [12:10] How Christian helped one foodservice company save 15 million dollars on a new facility by optimizing the existing resources [19:10] The danger of using people to solve systems problems and what to do instead [23:30] How thinking about sunsetting products or services is critical to your planning process [27:14] Communicating differences of opinion in a way that makes your business stronger [29:51] Where the title, What About the Vermin Problem?, came from and how it relates to good communication [32:20] What it means when you continually don’t get what you want at the end of a project (Perhaps the most important part of the whole conversation). [34:04] Peter and Renia go wayyy deep and nerdy on the importance and power of strategic planning. [37:50] Why consultants can be dangerous if you don’t know where you’re going [40:54] Anticipating industry changes and evolutions that require adaptation [43:28] What Peter learned from leading production at Crayola®️ about forecasting for future circumstances [48:00] The danger of growth and holding large amounts of inventory [50:40] Where to begin, when you don’t know what you don’t know [52:54] What the best consultants do, that isn’t so common [57:45] Peter’s hopes for what you will learn by reading this book How to connect with Peter Christian Read more on Peter’s Blog Connect with Peter on LinkedIn
I had the unique opportunity to sit down with, and interview, the convicted murderer as seen on CNN’s “The Redemption Project with Van Jones.” Christian Branscombe received a life sentence without parole for murder and attempted murder convictions when he was just 19 years old. He was released 5 months ago at the age of 44. We discuss the choices he made that caused him to commit this violent crime as well as the choices that got him released. In this episode, Christian recounts the isolation, sexual molestation, rejection, and significant shame that contributed to life altering choices he made that led him to kill and end up in prison. As he describes, “he became somebody that sacrificed everything that he really wanted in life to feel safe.” In a prison system that is not designed to facilitate real change, he was able to begin the path to receive redemption and peace. Through a miraculous release, he is now working to help those that are on both sides of violent crimes heal. “Our communities benefit when people that are healed can heal other people.” “I think when we talk about resilience or we talk about the idea of where something this horrific can come from, we have to know that it doesn’t come from normal circumstances. And that people only choose to adapt this way under these extreme circumstances. So it doesn’t justify the actions and it definitely doesn’t mitigate any responsibility in it but it definitely contributes to us preventing it from developing in that severity in the future and giving us an idea of how to heal it in people who have received that trauma and are passing it on.” “If I can’t feel my pain, I can’t relate to yours.” “If I took a life because I couldn’t confront my shame then the only thing that is a form of redemption to me is to face that shame. And then to share that process with other people so that they have company in facing that same struggle.” In this episode, you will hear: - How Christian’s traumatized and traumatic experiences led him to feel unbearable shame and commit a violent crime - His prison experience and the choices he made that helped him begin to heal and redeem himself - The way he hopes to change the narrative of how we approach trauma and how we can help heal in our communities Thank you so much for listening! This week, I am replaying a panel discussion in which I participated, speaking about the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Solaimani, along with Preity Upala (geopolitical analyst with the Jersalem Post and Times of Israel), William Pounds (Independence Media Network), and Chad Wilson (Green Party, running for the party's Presidential candidacy)We discuss:- the legitimacy (or not) of the US assassination of Iranian General Solaimani- US disregard of other nations' sovereignty- the problem of US ignorance of the difference between Ba'athist, Arab nationalists, Arab socialists, Salafists, Wahabbis, Shias, Sunnis, etc. despite the War on Terror- the possibility of increasing World Peace by requiring US Congressional approval and re-introducing the draft- re-alignment of global military and political alliances- Iran's economic and deep historical connection to India, and the complication of the India-US relationship- double standards with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia state-sponsoring of terrorism, as opposed to Iran opposition to terrorism- the difference between the Lebanon-Israel conflict, and Jihadist Salafist terrorism- nuclear weapons as a deterrent for regime change- uniting an anti-war political movement in the US across left and right- the contradiction of Trump's anti-Imperialism -- calling out the Deep State, CIA, FBI, military-industrial complex, G7, NATO -- and the neocon American Imperialists in his Cabinet- how ISIS and others are benefiting from the US attack on Iran, and the miseducation of the general public- the necessity of fighting Jihadist terrorism, and understanding it properly, historically and ideologically- How Christian, Jewish, and Muslim eschatology drives foreign policy in many important ways, but which is ignored in mainstream discourse- the breakup of the Ottoman Empire as the root of the current confusion in the Middle East- the spread of Wahhabism as behind Muslim radicalism around the world in Russia, Nigeria, the former Yugoslavia- Islamism and the left- The contradictions of American Christianity- The controversy over the Citizenship Amendment Act in India- possible implications and repercussions of the Solaimani assassination

Episode #114 - Psychology in Body Transformations***This was a thoroughly enjoyable chat with the extremely knowledgable and experienced Christian Maurice. He gave me an insight in to what he does with his clientele in order to achieve body transformations. In this episode, we discuss:***The N=1 element to being a coach and why we should and shouldn't listen to research papers and meta analysis. I personally find this extremely interesting as I'll be the first to admit its hard to know right from wrong from a supplementation perspective these days. With so many dramatically different opinions, who should we believe and what should we apply.***Why clients aren't compliant and what you need to do. It doesn't matter how good your methods are, if your client isn't compliant, they're not going to get results. We talk about what to do when this is the case and what you need to focus on as a coach.***The importance of sleep and how it impacts our recovery, lifestyle and body composition. We all know sleep is important, but how does it impact your ability to get results when looking to lose body fat. What's the best method of tracking sleep and does feeling well rested in the morning necessarily mean you slept well?***And finally, the most important piece of advice for personal trainers and coaches looking the gain their business. How Christian has built a successful and lucrative career despite keeping a low profile on social media. Is having a large social media necessary for growth and development?***The episode is now available to listen to on Spotify & iTunes

"Plant medicine and breath were the mandate to bring Rythmia into existence." Welcome to NION Radio! Today's episode is another part of my series on plant medicine and the wonderful people I've met through my journey with it. Our guest today is Christian Minson, the Director of Breathwork at Rythmia. The time he has spent with breathwork has made him an expert in the field and an invaluable asset at Rythmia, elevating people to higher states and aiding the work of the plant medicine through the breath. Since starting his work as a monk in the hills of West Los Angeles, Christian has always been looking for a higher purpose and an elevated state of consciousness. Soon after leaving his lifestyle as a monk, he started going deeply into breathwork and learned how much it can help you heal, and the simple but profound power of it moved him. Christian's work at Rythmia is a culmination of his years of practice and research, and through his work, he has impacted and accelerated the learning of every participant he has worked with there. Listen in to learn what breathwork is, how it is working with the brain and your consciousness, and how you can use it to elevate your creativity. You can Subscribe and Listen to the Podcast on Apple Podcasts. And please leave me a Rating and Review! "What our body, mind, and soul runs on is prana. Dave was recently diagnosed with ALS and has been given 2 to 5 years to live. He has been going around the country and on podcasts speaking about his experience. Today Dave joins me to share what his life focus has been since the diagnosis. How Christian friends and secular friends respond to Dave's news has been very different. I found this really interesting. Dave quit his job and has been living his best life now. He is writing his own story, as he puts it. Life is a collection of moments. Life is about allowing ourselves to really capture those moments and enjoy them. He was an inspiration to talk to and you'll get so much out of this conversation. Carpe the f*cking diem! What kind of brain games do you think will help you focus better and remember more? If you're like most people, you're probably searching for an app. Well, not Christian Fitzharris. Actor, musician, sommelier and author, Christian plays brain games with words. And to make the brain exercise even more effective, he adds juggling to the mix too. In fact, I was so blown away when I saw a video of Christian playing an authentic brain game, I could help but record a response! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yx3goqUJYQ For the original video that started it all, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGEuP-ls5hA Then click play on the interview above and discover: How Christian first encountered memory techniques and mnemonics. The differences between different kinds of acting. The role of memory techniques in becoming a sommelier. The role of using mnemonics while imbibing alcohol in a professional role. How to avoid the "Oliver Cromwell Effect" when learning to use mnemonics. This final point will be especially important for those who want to become a living mnemonics dictionary. The alternative? Getting endlessly lost in the constant hunt for mnemonic examples and be trapped in learned helplessness forever. The ultimate cure? Play Brain Games as Christian suggests. (Photo by Maya Dondonyan, and used with permission.) Mezo towered over the show floor at VRLA 2018. Its twenty-foot temple was the centerpiece of the exhibition. Making its debut at VRLA, Mezo was an art installation, a mixed-reality experience, and an hour-long performance, combining augmented reality, lasers, effects and dancers. But, it's also much more than that. (Photo by Maya Dondonyan, and used with permission.) Christian Falstrup is the creative director and executive producer of Mezo. He is also the co-founder of VRLA, which is the world's largest immersive technology festival. And while the line of attendees waiting to experience Mezo twined around the show floor, Christian's vision goes far beyond providing a memorable show. VRLA 2018 was just the beginning. Christian's vision extends beyond a performance experience, to the ways attendees can change the physical world for a better future. Christian talked about his creative background, the story of Mezo and what's next! On this edition of Over Coffee®, you will hear: How Christian first became involved with immersive technology and world-building; The story of Mezo, and how it illustrates the creative process of world building; The narrative Christian and his team developed, and the ways in which it's a metaphor for our current world and future; How the technology interweaves with various events of this particular interactive experience; The biggest challenges Christian and his team encountered, on this particular project; The biggest lesson Christian learned, while working to make his creative vision a reality; Ways in which "Mezo" will be expanding in the future, as Christian says that "VRLA only scratched the surface"; A nonprofit resource which Christian would recommend to fellow virtual-reality creators; How participants who plant "virtual trees", in the course of the Mezo experience, are actually helping the ecosystem; And a hint at a way in which this action will be even more closely interwoven, in the future!
I’m so grateful for all the amazing people I’ve met through my mastermind with Lewis Howes, and today I’m fortunate enough to talk with another fellow masterminder, Christian Mickelsen. I love diving deeper into his story as he tells us more about being on welfare as a child and how that lack of money made him feel then and how it affected his money mindset later on. Christian obviously overcame that lack mindset and it happened when he realized that he’s always been “rich” – just not in the traditional way. He now helps others work through their feelings and fears through his coaching and Abundance Unleased events. This is one of the most empowering conversations I’ve had to date and I know that his insights will help propel you to the next level of abundance in your life and business. -- Question Highlights: What’s your favorite quote? What’s one of your superpowers? Who is someone who’s changed your life? What’s one of your favorite accomplishments? What’s one regret you have? Can you tell us a little more about your upbringing? When did you start this journey to go from a poverty mindset to a master of abundance? What are the invisible forces that are holding people back? Is your event based on your book, Abundance Unleashed? How can people go to your event? When and where is it? In This Episode We Talk about: The childhood belief Christian had that when you were poor people didn’t like you and when you were rich they did The shift that happened when Christian was able to release emotional ties to things (house, money etc.) How Christian incorporated vision boards into his life The top 4 things that drive Christian in life and business Why it’s important to eliminate the invisible forces that hold people back Working through fears and other feelings using the “Peace Process” and the “Instant Miracle” Extreme abundance beliefs Christian’s event “Abundance Unleased Live” Why all abundances (love, money, health and time) are related Why desires are here to make us grow And so much more… Christian’s Thoughts… “If we want more abundance in our lives, we need to get clear on what we want.” “Being alive is rich.” “The richest person in the world isn’t the person with the most money, it’s the person with the most gratitude.” “If you want to be rich now, start appreciating what you have now.” “Having big goals forces us to become bigger people.” “Be happy with what you have – and go for more!” -- Christian Mickelsen is a leading authority on personal development and personal coaching and is the author of four No. 1 best-selling books, which include: Abundance Unleashed: Open Yourself To More Money, Love, Health, And Happiness Now Get Clients Today: How To Get A Surge Of New, High Paying Coaching Clients Today And Every Day How to Quickly Get Started As a Personal Coach: Make Great Money Changing People's Lives Change The World And Make Great Money Teaching, Training and Serving Humanity He’s the owner of a multi-million dollar coaching business that has made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies 3 years in a row. Christian created a Spiritual Archetype quiz that totally blew my mind with its accuracy. Find out your own archetype HERE. She was given a beautiful opportunity to see what really works for her in spirituality and what doesn't because her mother ran one of the biggest spiritual conferences and her father was a Course in Miracles teacher. The root of her business is helping people find the core of their problems and working on that, instead of simply "unblocking" limiting beliefs and others blocks Example: One thing she sees a lot of is people who think their entire life is in shambles because of their chakras being unaligned, and it's always so much deeper than that! If you think God hates you, no amount of "chakra alignment" is going to help you change your life Christian grew up around very strict Catholics so she does relate to feeling inferior, and even held the belief that God didn't love her for who she really was God created you exactly how you are, from your head to your belly to your heart. You are NOT an accident! Spiritual bullying: when somebody attacks a person or group in the name of being a "light-worker" If your "spirituality" is messing up your life, it's actually ego. Example: If you're a mean person and people say you're mean because you're just really religious- well, that doesn't make it okay! Finding out how much of your personality you want to portray in your business and how much you want to stick to doing God's work. How Christian started to take responsibility for attracting the type of partner she DID NOT want (and ended up not dating for 4 years in her 20s) How she met her husband accidentally and ended up getting married 3 weeks later (you're going to love this story) Some insight into her Spiritual Archetypes quiz and what that creation process looked like Must-read book: Lessons in Truth Connect with Christian: Website Facebook Twitter Instagram [Tweet "Learn all about spiritual bullying, conscious dating and archetype quizzes in today's #MBMPodcast "] {COACHING} Ready to break limiting beliefs + Take your self-worth to the next level? Christian Beckwith is the executive director of SHIFT, a Jackson Hole-based non-profit that is building a powerful coalition to protect our nation’s public lands. By bringing together climbers, skiers, hunters, anglers, land managers, and countless other stakeholders, SHIFT is finding common ground and harnessing these groups' collective power to ensure that public lands—our birthright as Americans—remain safe during this tenuous time in political history. • After a distinguished career in the publishing world which included editing the American Alpine Journal and co-founding Alpinist Magazine, Christian experienced a profound change in priorities when one of his close friends was killed by an avalanche in the Teton backcountry. At that point, Christian decided to focus his resources and energy exclusively on work that makes a “substantive difference in the world.” From there he founded the Center for Jackson Hole, SHIFT, and, most recently, the Emerging Leaders Program which brings together a diverse group of early career leaders in conservation. • Christian’s career is inspiring in many ways, but I especially admire his willingness to set audacious goals, put himself on the line, and not wait around for permission to make things happen. We dig into all of these topics in our hour-long conversation, and he shares some interesting insights into his career and the future of conservation. We also discuss Christian’s early childhood experiences that led him to a career focused on adventure and the outdoors, and he talks about his relationship with Yvon Chiounard and how Chiounard has influenced him both personally and professionally. We chat about Christian’s favorite books, documentaries, and how fatherhood has focused his thinking on the importance of conservation. There’s a full list of the topics we discuss in the episode notes. • Given the current fights surrounding our public lands, this is a timely and powerful episode. I hope this conversation spurs you to continue educating yourself on threats to our public lands and to take appropriate action to protect them. ••• http://mountainandprairie.com/christian-beckwith/ ••• TOPICS DISCUSSED: 2:40 - How Christian describes his work 5:10 - Changing demographics in conservation 8:30 - Genesis of the idea for SHIFT 13:00 - Avalanche in Apocalypse Couloir 15:20 - Christian’s decision to shift from publishing to conservation 18:00 - Evolution of SHIFT 20:30 - Importance of encouraging people to fall in love with wild places 21:40 - Overview of the current public land debate 25:40 - How becoming a father changed Christian’s mindset 28:20 - Collaborating with non-traditional partners of recreation 31:20 - Defining the word “conservation” 31:50 - Conservation heroes and Yvon Chouinard 35:50 - The importance of Chouinard’s internal compass 40:45 - Childhood experiences that led to a career centered around the outdoors 43:10 - First experiences climbing 45:40 - Advice to his younger self 49:30 - Favorite books 51:30 - Favorite documentaries 52:30 - Unexpected activities 54:00 - Christian’s most powerful outdoor experience 58:00 - Christian’s request of the listeners 59:00 - Connect with Christian and SHIFT online

Welcome to the fifty-second episode of Equipping You in Grace.
