What is up, Simplifiers? I'm so excited you're here. In today's episode of the Maximized Minimalist Podcast, we dive into one of those uncharted territories that doesn't always come up when we're talking about decluttering our homes: the money side of our life-seasons. Because listen—moving houses, starting school, kids growing up, sending them off, career shifts… these aren't just about stuff. They shake up our finances, our routines, our mental load, and yes, our homes. I brought on my two AMAZING guests — finance strategists and self-proclaimed "budget besties," Vanessa and Shana (yes, alliteration and all the good vibes) — to unpack how transitions impact money, how you can build guardrails (just like you do with your home), and how you can walk into the next season with more peace, presence, and joy instead of overwhelm and guilt. Whether you're prepping for a move, entering a new parent phase, supporting teens, or just feeling the mental load of "what's next?" — this episode is for you. We'll meet you where you are and give you the tools to create financial clarity and calm.

In this empowering episode, Teresa sits down with Sara Paxton, a pharmacist turned Certified Health Coach and founder of Nourish Health Coaching. Sara shares her powerful journey from the world of pharmaceuticals—where she once helped cover up symptoms—to discovering the beauty of how our bodies communicate through them. Sara believes that our symptoms are blessings—our body's way of signaling that something needs attention—and that our hormones and cycles tell a story of incredible design. Together, Teresa and Sara dive deep into how gut health impacts hormone balance and metabolism, why the food industry makes healthy living so confusing, and how blood sugar monitoring can transform energy and mood for women. As a wife, mother of five energetic boys, and passionate health advocate, she reminds us that when women feel better—they do better in every part of life. Join us for an incredibly candid and informative conversation with Audrey Vernick, a passionate advocate and the Director of Patient and Family Advocacy for the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Alliance. Audrey shares the powerful 21-year journey of her son, Bennett, who suffered a stroke in utero and was later diagnosed with the catastrophic epilepsy known as Infantile Spasms. Audrey recounts the emotional process from the difficult labor and early concerns dismissed as normal reflexes, to the terrifying moment she saw his MRI and realized half of his brain was black due to a massive stroke. This episode is an essential listen for any parent navigating a serious pediatric diagnosis, especially those dealing with seizures. Audrey shares her family's ultimate decision to pursue a hemispherectomy after two years of failed medications, and the immediate, miraculous developmental explosion in her son's language and physical abilities post-surgery. Key Takeaways and Actionable Advice Trust Your Parental Instinct: If you think something is wrong with your child's movements, something probably is. Demand a Specialist: If you suspect Infantile Spasms, go to the ER and demand to speak to a neurologist or epileptologist. Request video EEG monitoring. Video & Log Everything: Record videos of suspicious movements and log details (time, duration, what you observed) to help clinicians with diagnosis and treatment planning. The Difference Between a Consult and Surgery: A surgical consult is not a surgery. Referring for a pre-surgical workup opens up a new toolbox of solutions and gives you access to a world-renowned team of specialists for a more detailed look at your child's case. Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE): Epilepsy is considered DRE if a child has uncontrolled seizures after appropriately failing two seizure medications. This increases the risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death due to Epilepsy). Decision-Making: Understanding your partner's decision-making style is crucial when navigating complex medical choices. Guest Information & Resources Guest: Audrey Vernick, Director of Patient and Family Advocacy at the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Alliance. Organization: Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Alliance Website: epilepsysurgeryalliance.org. Resources: Offers a Parent Support Navigator Program (trained peers), financial aid for travel to a Level Four epilepsy center for pre-surgical workups, webinars, and more. Infantile Spasms Resource: Audrey also mentions the Infantile Spasms Action Network for resources on recognizing and acting on infantile spasms. Time Stamp Description Key Information 00:00:43 Critical Advice: Surgery Consult vs. Surgery Audrey shares the core message that a surgery consult is different than a surgery, and there is no harm in seeking a consultation for any diagnosis. 00:01:54 Bennett's Diagnosis and Surgery Audrey introduces her son, Bennett (21), who had a stroke in utero, infantile spasms, and ultimately a hemispherectomy. 00:04:50 The Early Months: Colic vs. Seizures Audrey describes the first five months, where unusual movements and fussiness were initially dismissed as normal reflexes and colic by her pediatrician. 00:12:08 Emergency EEG & Stroke Discovery The night she called a new neurologist, they were admitted for a 48-hour video EEG monitoring. The next day, an MRI revealed a massive stroke in the right hemisphere. 00:14:50 Infantile Spasms: Recognize the Signs Audrey, as a leader of the PESA, stresses that Infantile Spasms is a medical emergency. She describes the signs: head drop/nod, flexing, and subtle movements that happen in clusters. 00:17:10 Advocacy: How to Get Help Advice for parents: Take videos, take logs, and at the ER, demand to see a neurologist or epileptologist. 00:22:15 The Surgical Seed is Planted Bennett's first neurologist mentioned a hemispherectomy when he was only five months old, which her husband immediately dismissed, but planted a "seed" for future research. 00:24:09 Choosing Surgery and the "Elmo Song" Miracle The family begged for surgery and two days later Bennett had his hemispherectomy. Two weeks later on the plane home, Bennett, whose speech was suppressed, sang the entire Elmo song, signaling the impact the seizures had been having. 00:30:52 Defining Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE) DRE is when a child has seizures after failing two appropriately dosed medications. DRE is harmful to development and carries the highest risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death due to Epilepsy). 00:42:55 Final Message: Trust Yourself Audrey's final, powerful advice to parents: You are the expert in your own child; trust yourself and use that expertise as a tool on your journey. There are a few conversations that stop me in my tracks, and this was one of them. Sitting across from Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow, I wasn't just speaking to a Heisman Trophy winner and a former Miss Universe. I was sitting with two people who live out their faith with more authenticity, humility, and conviction than almost anyone I've ever met. What struck me most is how both of them, despite the platforms they've been given, have had to wrestle with identity, comparison, loss, and purpose, just like the rest of us. Tim shared the heart behind his new book Look Again and what it really means to understand your worth through God's eyes, not the world's. When he said, “We use people and value things, instead of valuing people and using things,” it hit me hard. He reminded us that every single human being carries the image of God, that you're not just bearing His image, you are His image. You are royalty. That truth changes how you see yourself and how you see others. Demi opened up about her journey from wearing the Miss Universe crown to realizing that she had attached her identity to it and the freedom she found when she handed it back. She also shared the raw pain of losing her father just days before our conversation and how she's choosing faith in the middle of heartbreak. Her story is one of strength, surrender, and trust, choosing not to ask “Why?” but “Where?” Where is God working this together for good? That perspective will change how you face every challenge in your own life. We also talked about something that's destroying people quietly, comparison. Tim reminded us that comparison kills joy. You can't be grateful and envious at the same time. And Demi shared her own powerful insight: when you scroll through social media, you're often letting people who don't love you speak into your life. It's time to take back that space and fill it with truth. And perhaps most moving of all, we dove into the heart of their work through the Tim Tebow Foundation, serving the most vulnerable around the world. From survivors of human trafficking to children with special needs, they're proof that when you stop and see people the way God does, everything changes. You don't need a big platform to make a difference, you just need a willing heart. Key Takeaways: How to find your true identity and worth through God's eyes Why comparison kills joy and how to break free from it How to find hope and peace in the middle of loss The difference between bearing God's image and being His image How small acts of compassion can create massive change in someone's life This is one of those conversations you'll feel deep in your soul. If you've ever doubted your worth, questioned your faith, or wondered if God still sees you, this one's for you. Max out your life. Also don't miss out on MAXOUT2026: Once a year, I open my home for an intimate one-day experience unlike anything else I do. This year, I'm making it even smaller, just 12 to 15 people. Together, we'll dive deep into the exact strategies I use to plan, visualize, and design the best year of my life and yours. Melette as he dives deep into the story of survival, perseverance, and success with this week's guest, Mike Russell, founder of Hope 4 Hardship and Certified Distressed Property Expert. Mike shares his raw experience of corporate and personal bankruptcy, foreclosure, and family disputes, and reveals the critical steps to take before crisis hits. Whether you're navigating the aftermath of COVID-related payment struggles or just looking for a financial safety net, this two-part episode offers invaluable, tangible advice on controlling your reaction and securing your future.Key Takeaways:2:35 Mike Russell's Background: Mike shares his 30-year journey in real estate, including his personal experience with foreclosure, divorce, and multiple bankruptcies, which led him to start his non-profit.7:26 Control Your Reaction: The pivotal lesson: you have no control over how entities react, but you have control over how you react to their reaction. Mike admits his failure to do this led him to bury his head in the sand and ignore creditors.9:45 You Are in Sales Mode with the Bank: Mike outlines the need to put together an "outstanding application for assistance" to convince the lender you are a "viable bet" to resume normal payments.12:03 The Partial Claim Mortgage (FHA Loans): Mike details the "gold standard" retention option where HUD pays the arrearage and holds it as a 0% interest, silent second mortgage, allowing the consumer to keep their original, low-interest loan terms.14:49 Hardship Must Be Proven Over: Mike emphasizes that to be considered for assistance, you must not only prove hardship but, more importantly, prove that the financial hardship is over and your income is sufficient.17:58 The Frivolous Spending Warning: Mike stresses that if bank statements show frivolous spending (like trips while claiming hardship), the bank will not deem the applicant responsible, and the assistance application will likely be denied.Tune in next week for Part 2 as Corwyn J. Melette and Mike Russell continue the conversation, diving deeper into specific strategies and how to effectively navigate the retention and non-retention options offered by lenders. Have you ever walked away from a strategic partnership deal thinking, "That should have worked better than it did"? Maybe you co-hosted a workshop, swapped podcast interviews, or supported someone's launch, but instead of new leads, visibility, or momentum, it felt like a lot of effort with very little return. One of the biggest complaints I often hear is the imbalance between two strategic alliances, one who is always promoting the other with any reciprocity, then resentment creeps in. I get it. I've been there too. And what I've learned over the years is that not all collaborations are created equal. When they're not aligned, even the most generous intentions can lead to frustration and missed opportunities. In episode 464 of Amplify Your Success Podcast, I'm sharing the real reasons why your collaborations might not be delivering results and the shifts that can help you turn them into powerful growth opportunities. From spotting misalignment early to building the kind of partnerships that expand your visibility and authority, this episode will help you collaborate smarter, not harder. If you're ready for your next collaboration to actually work, you'll want to listen in. Key Takeaways: [03:12] The real reason most collaborations fall flat and why it's not about effort or generosity. [07:26] How to spot the red flags that signal misalignment before you commit. [11:48] Why visibility without synergy drains your time, energy, and results. [15:02] The mindset shift that turns "transactional" partnerships into long-term growth opportunities. [18:37] What it takes to build collaborations that expand your authority, audience, and income without adding more to your to-do list. In this intimate coaching conversation, Colleen brings a familiar dilemma: her husband drives too fast for her nervous system to handle. She doesn't want to control him, but she does want to feel safe. Together, we unpack how to name her limits without moralizing, how to invite collaboration instead of compliance, and how to speak from care rather than critique.Key Takeaways for Listeners:•Boundaries are not about controlling others. They're about naming what you are or are not available for.•To foster buy-in, shift from You're wrong to This doesn't work for my nervous system.•Compassionate communication can include honest judgments, especially when they arise from fear and care.•Sharing your vulnerabilities can diffuse tension and build understanding faster than logic or critique.•Collaborative planning (in calm moments) is often more effective than reactive correction (in hot moments). If you're looking for a high caliber small group where you can deepen your practice and really live into the principles of compassion, non-violence and relational presence, apply for The Mentorship Circle, which will begin November 2nd. What does it really mean to give our pets an abundant life? Emily and Claire unpack common myths around enrichment and abundance, where well-intentioned positive reinforcement can slip into coercion, and where saying no can actually be part of a healthy, ethical relationship. From toy-bin epiphanies to dogs “earning their keep,” this episode dives into meeting needs, setting boundaries, and letting go of control without letting chaos reign. If you've ever wondered whether you're giving your pet too much (or not enough), this one's for you.TLDL (too long, didn't listen): 3 Key Takeaways 1️⃣ Abundance isn't indulgence – Meeting needs and providing agency doesn't mean your pet gets everything they want all the time. It's about long-term well-being, not short-term gratification.2️⃣ Positive reinforcement alone isn't the whole story – Even when using rewards, we can unintentionally slip into coercion. True enrichment prioritizes wellbeing, autonomy, and emotional health, not just behavior outcomes.3️⃣ Boundaries build better relationships – Saying “no” (ethically and clearly) helps both humans and animals thrive. Agency grows when skills grow and when everyone's needs are respected. For the full episode show notes, including the resources mentioned in this episode, go here.More from Pet HarmonyPet Parents: enrichment ideas and practical behavior tips

The Champions Mindset: How to Turn Pressure into Power What separates those who rise under pressure from those who break under it? In this mashup, I'm bringing you some of the most powerful conversations I've ever had about mastering the inner game, the battle between your mind, your heart, and your mission. From the court to the boardroom to the hospital bed to the stage, each of these stories reveals what it really takes to stay calm, stay hungry, and stay in the fight when everything is on the line. Nick Kyrgios opens up about the mental war behind professional tennis and how learning to control his emotions changed not only his game but his entire life. Tony Robbins breaks down the psychology of pressure and why the people who perform at the highest levels aren't fearless, they've just trained themselves to use fear as fuel. Damar Hamlin's story will move you to your core as he shares what it felt like to face death on national television and come back stronger with a mission bigger than football. Manny Khoshbin reveals how he went from living in a car to building a real estate empire by mastering discipline, vision, and delayed gratification. And Jesse Itzler brings it all home with his raw honesty about endurance, purpose, and doing hard things every single day to stay sharp and alive. Every single one of these individuals knows what it's like to be counted out, to face the noise, and to rise anyway. That's the mindset of a champion: not perfection, but persistence. Not avoiding pain, but transforming it into power. And I want you to hear the truth behind their success because this same power is available to you. When life turns up the heat, that's your invitation to step into greatness. The moments that test you the most are the ones that define you the most. You don't have to wait until you feel ready. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to decide right now that you won't let the pressure break you. You'll let it build you. Key Takeaways How to turn pressure, pain, and fear into your greatest fuel (Tony Robbins) The mindset of elite performance and emotional control (Nick Kyrgios) What Damar Hamlin learned about faith, purpose, and the will to fight for life The habits that transformed Manny Khoshbin from homeless to multimillionaire Jesse Itzler's principle of building endurance through challenge and discomfort Why true champions don't run from pressure, they rise inside it Also don't miss out on MAXOUT2026: Once a year, I open my home for an intimate one-day experience unlike anything else I do. In this episode of The Ross Simmonds Show, Ross was invited by Craig Hewitt of Rogue Startups Podcast to explore how AI is transforming B2B marketing, sales operations, and digital strategy. They cover the decline of traditional SEO, the rise of Reddit as a powerful discovery platform, the evolving importance of LinkedIn and YouTube, and practical advice on AI tools, personalization, and productivity. This is a must-listen for marketers, SaaS founders, and anyone looking to future-proof their growth strategies in an AI-driven world. Key Takeaways and Insights: 1. What's working now?” in B2B and SaaS marketing - Personal brand content from team members on social media. - Micro-influencers and content creators paid on performance for lead-generating videos. 2. Create “ridiculously valuable” and original content - insightful data or perspectives that AI can't replicate. - AI makes distribution and repurposing easier, but not idea generation or storytelling. - Personalization tools like Loom or LinkedIn voice messages still work well, but are hard to scale. 3. Content Repurposing & Platform Strategy - Repurposing content—doing it well beyond basic automation tools. - LinkedIn → best for B2B buyers and thought leadership. - Twitter/X → still relevant for technical audiences and startup visibility. - Instagram → underutilized channel with potential. - YouTube → huge upside for discoverability + long-form value, but tough to execute well. 4. SEO in Decline? - AI has definitely reduced Google traffic—marketers must embrace multi-channel discovery. - YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, and social as the new search engines. 5. Bonus Frameworks: - “Ross's Hierarchy of Needs”: Revenue > Traffic > Channels. - “Distribution Framework”: Audience Attention vs Competitive Saturation = Channel Opportunity. Underhyped vs Overhyped AI Trends - Underhyped: Reddit - Massive influence in buyer decisions. - Google indexing Reddit heavily due to user trust. - Overhyped: Quora - Once valuable, now polluted and ineffective. In this solo episode, I open up about one of the most overwhelming seasons my family has faced—fall. Between school demands, sports, band, and everything else, our schedule was maxed out and our connection suffered. Jessica and I found ourselves constantly busy but emotionally distant, operating more like teammates than soulmates. I share how we recognized the symptoms of "roommate syndrome," what we did to course-correct, and why protecting margin in your life and marriage is non-negotiable. I also introduce my brand-new course launching in January, From Roommates to Soulmates, designed for husbands who are ready to rebuild emotional connection and intimacy. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS [0:00] – Introduction [2:31] – Why fall marks the beginning of chaos for many families [3:07] – Introducing the From Roommates to Soulmates course [4:15] – What roommate syndrome looks like and why it's dangerous [5:20] – Cultural lies men believe about marriage and fatherhood [6:45] – The silent struggle of disconnection [8:06] – Our family's real-life overscheduling mistake [10:28] – When joy turns into exhaustion [10:54] – The "Sunday Night Reset" strategy [11:27] – How shared calendars and huddles create clarity [12:13] – Learning to say no with purpose [13:16] – Protecting margin and prioritizing connection [14:42] – Why our "Date Days" are sacred [15:38] – Free gift: Questions for the Car PDF [16:41] – Start deeper conversations with your kids today 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS 1. Busyness Is the Enemy of Intimacy Just because you're doing a lot doesn't mean you're connecting. Overscheduling your family can slowly erode the relationships that matter most. 2. Roommate Syndrome Is Real—But Reversible When you and your partner start functioning as co-managers instead of lovers, it's time to course-correct. Connection requires intention. 3. Margin Is Not a Luxury, It's a Necessity If your calendar is full but your marriage feels empty, it's a sign you need to guard time for each other and for rest. 4. Clarity and Communication Prevent Chaos Tools like family huddles and shared calendars aren't just logistical—they're emotional anchors that keep the household united. 5. Leading Your Family Starts With Leading Yourself Recognizing when you're off-track and initiating reconnection is the mark of strong leadership—both as a husband and a father.
