Welcome to a new episode of ASMR Sleep Recordings. In this episode, you will hear a babbling brook running through the forest. Improve your health and happiness. The sound you hear in this episode creates a calm atmosphere and at the same time blocks out disturbing noises. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Enjoy two hours of relaxing sounds to help you relax, focus, study and fall asleep.About ASMR Sleep Recordings:The purpose of ASMR Sleep Recording is to help you sleep and concentrate better. This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. ASMR Sleep Recordings has uploaded more than 400+ episodes in the 4 years that the podcast has been online. You can listen to all episodes of the podcast on your favorite podcast platform. People use white noise for sleep, focus, sound masking or relaxation. This podcast has the sound for you, whether you're using white noise to study, to soothe a baby with cramps, to fall asleep, or to just enjoy a quiet moment. You don't need to buy a white noise machine if you can listen to these sounds for free.

What happens when a random creative idea turns into a viral series, a thriving online community, a book, a podcast, and eventually an entire business? In this episode of Badass Basic Bitch, Brianna sits down with Christa Innis, an author, podcast host, content creator, wife, and toddler mom who has built a community around storytelling, humor, and navigating some of life's messiest moments.Christa is the author of Here Comes the Drama and host of the Here Comes the Drama podcast, where she dives into relationships, family dynamics, and the stories that remind us we're never alone in our chaos. Through her viral skits and relatable content, Christa encourages women to set boundaries, embrace authenticity, and find laughter even in the drama.Christa's journey started with a seemingly random idea for a wedding skit on TikTok. What began as a creative outlet while she was on maternity leave quickly took off, eventually becoming multiple seasons of viral content and inspiring an entirely new chapter of her career.Brianna and Christa talk about what it really takes to turn content creation into a business, grow an engaged audience, stay authentic online, and protect your personal life when your job exists on your phone. Christa also takes us behind the scenes of writing and self-publishing Here Comes the Drama, what she learned from doing it herself, and what's next as she continues writing the series. They also get into the reality of building a business while being a wife and working mom—and why success isn't about doing everything perfectly. It's about knowing what matters, creating boundaries, staying consistent, and being willing to put yourself out there before you know exactly where it's going. In This Episode, We Discuss:How a spontaneous wedding skit turned into viral content and an unexpected careerStarting to create content while on maternity leaveChrista's background in social media marketing and how it influenced her approachWhy she initially kept her growing TikTok account a secretThe moment she realized content creation could become a legitimate businessGrowing an audience through consistency, authenticity, and genuine engagementBuilding a community instead of simply chasing followersWhy relatable, imperfect content can be more powerful than polished productionWhat actually happens behind the scenes of scripting, filming, editing, and posting viral contentTurning a creative outlet into a full-time businessExpanding into brand partnerships and social media coachingBalancing entrepreneurship, content creation, marriage, and motherhoodCreating boundaries when your entire business lives on your phoneProtecting family time and keeping parts of your life offlineTurning viral wedding drama into her book, Here Comes the DramaWhy Christa decided to self-publish her first bookWhat nobody tells you about writing, editing, publishing, and marketing your own bookThe importance of having multiple people review your work before publishingWhat Christa learned from self-publishing and how she's applying it to her next bookHer advice for aspiring creators, authors, and entrepreneurs who are afraid to startMemorable Quote"Don't overcomplicate it. Focus on what you're passionate about, stay authentic, and keep showing up consistently." — Christa InnisKey TakeawaysYou Don't Need to Know Where an Idea Will LeadChrista didn't start making wedding skits because she had a perfectly constructed business plan. She had an idea, followed her creativity, and gave herself permission to experiment. That one decision eventually grew into an audience, business, podcast, and book.Sometimes you don't need to know what step ten looks like. You just need to be willing to take step one.Authenticity Will Take You Further Than PerfectionYou don't need the perfect camera, elaborate production, or meticulously curated life to connect with people online. Christa's success reinforces something creators often forget: people connect with people.Relatable, authentic content gives your audience a reason to see themselves in your stories—and a reason to keep coming back.Build a Community, Not Just a FollowingGrowing on social media isn't only about posting consistently. Christa actively engages with the people consuming her content, responds to comments, listens to feedback, and makes her audience feel like they're part of the experience.Followers are a number. Community is a relationship.Your Business Needs Boundaries TooWhen your career revolves around social media, your workplace is always within reach. There is no office door to close at the end of the day.As a wife and toddler mom, Christa has had to intentionally establish boundaries between her work, content, and family life. Building something successful shouldn't require sacrificing your ability to actually be present for the life you're building it around.Writing the Book Is Only Part of Self-PublishingChrista chose to self-publish Here Comes the Drama, giving her firsthand experience with everything that happens after the manuscript is written.Editing, feedback, marketing, promotion, and getting the book in front of readers all matter. One of her biggest lessons is the importance of having multiple eyes on your work and recognizing that a great book still needs a strong strategy behind it.Stop Overcomplicating Content CreationFor anyone waiting for the right idea, equipment, strategy, or moment to start creating, Christa's advice is simple: focus on what you genuinely care about and start.Consistency matters. Authenticity matters. Connecting with your audience matters. Perfection doesn't.And when you need a break? Take one.Connect with Christa Innis

Chantell Preston has spent more than 25 years building, scaling, and transforming businesses in healthcare. After leaving the corporate world and building her own successful career, she became passionate about empowering women to redefine success on their own terms. She is the author of The Success Lie: Reframing Your Reality to Thrive Personally and Professionally and recently invested in women's professional sports by purchasing a women's professional volleyball team in San Francisco. In this episode, Chantell shares how betting on herself, building the right network, and becoming intentional with her time helped her create a career—and life—that actually feels fulfilling. On this episode we talk about: Why who you know can be more valuable than what you know—and how to build meaningful relationships Chantell's decision to leave the corporate world and build her own healthcare business The pressure women face to be “perfect” and how to redefine success on your own terms How saying yes to everything can actually prevent you from reaching your goals Balancing entrepreneurship, purpose, and family without sacrificing the things that matter most Why failure and setbacks can become some of your greatest opportunities Top 3 Takeaways Bet on yourself and figure things out along the way. You don't have to know everything before taking an opportunity. Sometimes you simply need to put yourself in the right room and trust that you can learn what you need to know. Define success for yourself. Money and titles can be great goals, but achieving them doesn't necessarily mean you'll feel fulfilled. Get intentional about what success actually means to you and where you want to spend your time. Focus on quality over quantity with your time. Whether it's your career, relationships, or family, being intentional and emotionally present can matter far more than simply being physically present. Is Muscle Power More Important Than Strength For Longevity?

    The B.rad Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 11, 2026 31:14

In your 30s, you start to lose a certain percentage of muscle tissue year over year, and that rate really accelerates when you hit 60. But everything we've been told about the importance of maintaining muscle as you age is roughly around half right. Maintaining muscle mass and muscle strength is a key driver of longevity, but even more important is maintaining muscle power and explosiveness. They are not the same. A recent 10-year study of nearly 4,000 adults revealed that those with lower muscle power and explosiveness had a six to seven times higher mortality risk compared to the strongest, most powerful group, while differences in pure strength were insignificant once age and health history were factored in. I explain the difference between sarcopenia and dynapenia, why muscle power is the first thing you lose and you lose it more quickly than anything else, and why we lose our anaerobic conditioning, muscle strength, and power at around 40% per decade, compared to roughly 10% for aerobic conditioning. I also share practical ways to develop and preserve muscle power and explosiveness safely, so you can maintain that important attribute throughout life and avoid the devastating consequences of falls. TIMESTAMPS: Muscle mass and muscle strength are not the same but both are key drivers to longevity. [01:01] Sarcopenia is age-related loss of muscle mass or muscle strength. Dynapenia is the age-related loss of muscle power and explosiveness. [02:25] Training has risen in the level of sophistication where athletes can perform better. [05:16] We have an obligation to hone things like coordination, balance, agility, and timing. [07:22] Dynapenia is defined as the loss of the nervous system's ability to recruit what muscle you still have. [10:10] Muscle mass declines the slowest. Muscle strength declines faster than muscle mass declines. Muscle power declines faster than all the others. [14:29] Falls should be in our central focus as something that is really concerning to us. Overall, there are 14 million aging Americans who fall every year, resulting in three million emergency room visits. [19:20] How do you train for power specifically as opposed to just building your muscular strength? [20:34] All manner of complex kinetic chain acuity starts with your feet. Your feet play a huge role in balance stability, proper movement through the kinetic chain and proper execution. What if the reason you're not getting enough clients has nothing to do with how many people know your name? You don't necessarily need more followers. You don't need to post seven times a day. And you definitely don't need to become an internet celebrity before people will pay you. In this solo episode of Podcast Profits Unleashed, Karen Roberts challenges one of the biggest assumptions in online marketing: More visibility = more clients. Because visibility gets you seen. Authority gets you trusted. And trust is what gets people to buy. Karen shares why she stopped seeing podcasts as simply content platforms and started seeing them as relationship and authority platforms. She also reveals why getting booked on podcasts isn't enough—and how the right conversation can create opportunities worth far more than thousands of passive followers.

Ever feel like you're doing all the "right" things, like tracking your food, lifting weights, and getting your steps in, but…you don't look like you work out? It's one of THE most common frustrations I hear from the ladies I work with! It's usually not because you're lazy or your body is “broken”. More often, it's because you're working on the wrong things. In this episode, I'm breaking down six reasons your body may not be changing the way you want it to. From under-fueling and chasing perfection, to skipping recovery and overcomplicating your routine, these are the habits I see holding women back time and time again. The goal isn't to do more - it's to remove the things preventing your body from adapting and growing.Looking like you lift doesn't happen because you work yourself into the ground. It happens when you fuel your body, train with intention, recover well, and repeat the process long enough to let your body adapt!Episode recap:Why working harder doesn't always mean working smarterWhy under-fueling is keeping you building muscle + recovering wellFocusing on repeatable habits vs. trying to be “perfect” with everythingWhy you NEED recovery days Stop overcomplicating the basics Focus on optimizing + doing the basics firstWhy your body adapts to what you repeatedly doLinks/Resources:Ep. 253 | Why Food Noise Is Real + Why It's Keeping You StuckSHOP UFYF merchandiseGrab your FREE Body Recomp Meal Prep and get the UFYF NewsletterSHOP Kion - my favorite Protein, EAA's and Creatine!Join FIT CLUB, my monthly membership with workouts you can do at home or the gymConnect with me on Instagram @kristycastillofit and @unfuckyourfitnesspodcastJoin my FREE Facebook group, Unf*ck Your FitnessClick HERE for my favorite fitness & life things!Send me a text with episode ideas or just to say hi! What if the skill that makes a comedian great on an unscripted stage is the same skill that makes a leader great in an unpredictable economy?Layoffs and AI have left a lot of people feeling like a line item instead of a human being. Jordana Cole flips that on its head: you are not the resource, you are the source.Jordana is an applied improviser, Gallup Strengths Coach, and University of Pennsylvania positive psychology grad. In this episode she joins host Ashish Kothari to turn a decade on the improv stage into a practical playbook for leading through uncertainty.Together they dig into why AI has no source material without us, why uncertainty is the constant rather than the exception, why an 80/20 tilt toward strengths beats the grind of fixing what is broken, and why play is not a reward for hard work but the thing that makes hard work possible.Improvisation, not certainty, is the human edge in the age of AI. You will walk away with three things you can try this week and one brainstorming trick that changes how your team thinks. What You Will Learn:You are the source, not the resource. AI has nothing to learn from without us.Uncertainty is the constant, not the exception. Possibility, not threat.Play to the scene you're in. Welcome back to Cannabis School! Today, Brandon and Jesse review Novarine by Find Cannabis, a sativa-dominant flower available in Utah's medical cannabis market.Novarine crosses Caprichosa Thai with a THCV-rich Thai landrace, giving it old-school genetics and an experience far removed from the sweet dessert strains filling dispensary shelves. The aroma is one of the strangest we've encountered. Think funky feet, Indian spices, flowers, earth, and a little sweetness hiding underneath everything else. The vapor starts sharp and floral, while the buds have orange pistils, visible trichomes, and a clean—but fairly dry—appearance. The Find Cannabis batch reviewed in this episode was labeled at approximately 26.76% THC and included several minor cannabinoids. That higher potency is another reminder to read the package in front of you: cannabinoid levels can vary considerably between growers and batches, even when the strain name stays the same.Novarine comes on fast. At first, we experienced a bright headspace, increased alertness, restless energy, and pressure around the temples, jaw, and neck. It stopped just short of feeling anxious and never caused a noticeably racing heart. As the session continued, that physical tension faded and the experience became calmer, slower, and surprisingly relaxing. Is Novarine good for daytime use? It could be—especially for experienced consumers who want energetic effects for chores, movement, exercise, or another physical activity. We were less convinced about using it for complicated mental work because the early restlessness needed somewhere to go.At roughly $44 for an eighth, Novarine was not a bargain, but it was not outrageous for Utah either. The dry flower and uncomfortable opening kept it from becoming an everyday favorite, but its funky profile and dramatic shift from energy to relaxation made it memorable.Would we hunt it down every time? Probably not.Would we be mad if it randomly landed in the stash again? Not at all.In this episode:• Novarine's Caprichosa Thai and Thai landrace genetics• THC, THCV, minor cannabinoids, and batch variation• Funky, spicy, floral, and earthy aromas• Vaporizing Novarine versus smoking it• Its fast sativa onset and calmer finish• Temple pressure, jaw tension, and restless energy• Terpenes, flower quality, dryness, and trimming• Old-school genetics versus modern dessert strains• Whether Novarine is worth buying in Utah• Def Leppard, Corvettes, and the usual Cannabis School detours Chapters:00:00 Welcome to Cannabis School00:31 Find Cannabis Novarine01:14 Genetics and sativa dominance02:04 THC and minor cannabinoids03:37 Terpene profile04:08 First effects05:29 Daytime use05:55 Flower quality08:16 Focus and restlessness12:22 Effects begin changing14:47 The calmer finish15:09 Price and value16:24 Final verdict Have you tried Novarine by Find Cannabis? In this episode of the Shared Practices Podcast, we explore what it truly means to step into the role of CEO of Your Dental Organization. As a dental provider scaling from a solo operation to a multi-practice group, your leadership leverage increases significantly as you multiply your impact across a larger team. However, elite dental leadership requires shifting your mindset away from strictly clinical work and focusing on three distinct horizons: long-term vision, medium-term strategic planning, and short-term execution. To achieve sustainable dental growth, your business vision must be rooted directly in your personal life goals. Because the CEO of Your Dental Organization ultimately serves the practice owner, every strategic decision should align with your desired income, clinical schedule, and vacation time. Here is your framework for mastering dental business strategy and leading your practice:Design Your Life First: Define your ideal schedule, target income, and preferred dental procedure mix (such as focusing heavily on surgical implants). Let those personal goals dictate your dental practice's long-term destination.Focus on the Bottleneck: Adopt an Elon Musk-style approach to daily dental management by identifying and spending your administrative time solving only the single biggest constraint facing your business each week.Play the "Whac-A-Mole" Game: Understand that solving one dental growth constraint—such as hiring a third hygienist to improve patient flow—will immediately trigger the next bottleneck, like needing to fill that new hygienist's schedule.Translate Vision to the Team: Convert your personal dental ownership goals into a team-centric mission. Emphasize how adding an associate doctor improves patient access to dental care and provides the staff with more flexible schedules.Enforce Core Values: Establish a shared set of actions to define your dental practice culture. Use these core values to ensure your team's behavior stays on course, allowing you to quickly identify and correct toxic team members.Ready to take the next step in your dental practice journey? "The dumbest thing you can be is a know-it-all."Curiosity isn't about having all the answers—it's about asking better questions. Journalist and podcast host Nayeema Raza believes the strongest communicators balance confidence with openness, using curiosity to better understand people, ideas, and the world around them. In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Raza joins Matt Abrahams to explore how to make complex ideas accessible, ask questions that spark meaningful conversations, and communicate with both confidence and humility. From writing punchier questions to embracing uncertainty, she shares practical strategies for becoming a more thoughtful and engaging communicator.Key Takeaways:Confidence grows through curiosity. The strongest communicators stay open to new ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and leave room to learn rather than assuming they have all the answers.Simple questions create meaningful conversations. Clear, concise questions—and a focus on what matters most—help make complex ideas more accessible and engaging.Activity:Write better questions. Take an upcoming meeting, interview, or one-on-one and rewrite three of your questions so each is nine words or fewer. Rebuilding After Failure: The Psychology of Sustainable Growth

    Terminal Value

What happens when rapid success becomes unsustainable? For Colin Hodge, the answer came through a painful lesson. After building a startup that reached 1 million users in roughly three months, Colin found himself under enormous pressure—scaling infrastructure, recruiting a team, experimenting with growth tactics, and dealing with a major trademark lawsuit. Then Apple told him his app would be removed from the App Store within 24 hours. He eventually found himself sitting on the floor of his San Francisco apartment, overwhelmed and crying in the shower. That moment became a turning point. In this episode of Second Life Leader, Colin joins Doug Bird to talk about the psychology that helped him rebuild—not just his company, but his approach to entrepreneurship itself. They explore what it means to get comfortable with discomfort, stop living for other people's approval, understand customer psychology, and build systems that allow sustainable growth instead of frantic growth.TL;DRThe psychology behind how you work may matter just as much as the strategy you're using.Colin's biggest lessons include:* Get comfortable being uncomfortable.* Stop building your life around other people's approval.* Be authentic without confusing authenticity with performance.* Understand your users' psychology and meet them where they are.* Focus on the variables you can actually control.* Treat business decisions as hypotheses that need to be tested.* Don't wait for perfection before putting ideas into the world.* Let data drive your decisions.* Build systems that allow small wins to compound over time. The goal isn't to swing for the fences every time. It's to develop the discipline to keep getting on base.Memorable Lines“I need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”“The worst that happens is people see you're trying.”“I don't have to perform for this.”“It's not lack of planning, it's just lack of fakeness.”“You can't control the outcome. You can control the process.”“What's the hypothesis?”“If you're swinging always for the fences, then you need to take a hard look and be like, are you okay with the one out of a thousand going there?”Guest: Colin HodgeColin Hodge is a repeat founder who has grown startups to millions of users and has experienced both rapid growth and painful setbacks. His experience ultimately led him toward a more sustainable approach to entrepreneurship—one grounded in psychology, behavioral science, experimentation, and understanding the people using his products.A major part of that approach is what Colin calls “decision engineering”: understanding the cognitive biases and psychological factors that influence the small decisions users make throughout their journey. Why This MattersEntrepreneurship often rewards the appearance of certainty.Social media shows the successful launch. The funding announcement. The growth chart. The bestseller. It rarely shows the breakdown in the shower. But failure, uncertainty, and messy rebuilding are often part of the actual process.Colin's story is a reminder that sustainable growth isn't necessarily about finding the biggest possible opportunity or constantly chasing the next growth tactic.Sometimes it's about understanding the game, identifying what you can control, testing your assumptions, and doing enough repetitions to learn what actually works. As Doug puts it through the baseball analogy: focus on the strike zone, not the result of every swing.Because in an uncertain world, you can't guarantee every outcome. But you can build a process that gives you a much better chance of creating the outcome you want.Listen to the full conversation with Colin Hodge on Second Life Leader. Most businesses do not have a lead problem. They have a follow-up problem hiding in plain sight. For Aly Samaha, follow-up is not a desperate sales tactic. It is a system for recovering money that businesses have already earned but failed to capture. Over the last two years, his approach has helped bring in $2.37 million in cash from silent opportunities while working just one to two calls a day. His philosophy is simple: stop chasing more when there is already money sitting inside your pipeline. In this episode, Kevin sits down with Aly to break down the sales “hustle lie” and why high-ticket founders, coaches, and sales teams often overlook the warmest opportunities they already have. Aly explains how his background in startups, operations, and closing shaped his obsession with leaving zero stones unturned, and why smart follow-up begins before the call ever ends.Together, they unpack how to revive quiet prospects without sounding needy, pestering leads, or relying on aggressive sales tactics. Aly shares why good follow-up depends on clarity, proximity, and energy management, and how business owners can focus their attention on the few deals closest to the finish line instead of treating every prospect the same. The conversation is a practical reminder that sales is not just about more activity. It is about knowing where trust already exists, staying human in the follow-up, and building a system that turns neglected conversations into recovered revenue.Key TakeawaysReframe the Silence. A quiet lead is not always a lost deal. Sometimes the problem becomes urgent later, and the right follow-up keeps you close without pressuring the prospect.Work the Pipeline You Already Have. Before chasing new leads or increasing ad spend, look at the warm conversations, past calls, and stalled opportunities already sitting in your CRM. Follow Up Before the Call Ends. Strong follow-up starts by identifying the real objection on the sales call, so the next message feels relevant instead of random. Detach From the Outcome. When you focus on the process instead of forcing the close, you become more useful, less needy, and more trusted. Give Away Strategy, Sell Execution. Sharing frameworks, templates, and advice builds goodwill. The paid value comes from helping business owners implement the system. Prioritize the Closest Deals. Not every lead deserves the same energy. Focus your best attention on the prospects closest to the finish line, then use systems for the rest. Build Follow-Up Systems. Memory is not a revenue strategy. Clean pipelines, simple sequences, and consistent outreach keep warm leads from disappearing. Listen to the full conversation here:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@risingtidestartups Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rising-tide-startups/id1330525474 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2eq7unl70TRPsBhjLEsNZR Connect with Aly SamahaFree 60-Min Pipeline Audit: http://alysamaha.com/kevin Website: alysamaha.comLinkedIn:  linkedin.com/in/samsonsamahaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/samsonsamaha/My guest Aly Samaha put his entire follow-up system in one place and made it free for you, every script and sequence behind $2.37M in recovered deals: https://alysamaha.com/kevinClosing Thought"Marry the process, but divorce yourself from the outcome. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Your child could be having deeply personal, romantic conversations tonight and not with another teenager. A new wave of AI companion apps is attracting young people by offering constant attention, endless validation and conversations that never end. They remember everything, say exactly what users want to hear and create the illusion of a real relationship. In this episode, Justin and Kylie explain why these chatbots are so appealing, why traditional parental controls don't stop them, and how to start the conversation without shame, panic or punishment. If your child has access to a smartphone, this is one conversation you can't afford to skip. KEY POINTS The three AI companion apps every parent should know about. Why AI relationships feel safer and easier than real friendships for many teens. How these apps use loneliness, curiosity and validation to keep young people engaged. Why confiscating devices often drives the behaviour underground. Practical conversation starters that build trust instead of fear. The simple reminder every child needs to hear: a bot is a what, not a who. Why strong real world relationships are still the best protection. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE "A bot is not a who. A bot is a what." RESOURCES MENTIONED Happy Families Tweens, Teens and Screens presentation Happy Families website ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Ask your child what they already know about AI companion apps. Stay calm if they admit they've used one. Focus on listening before reacting. Talk about why these apps feel appealing instead of only discussing the risks. Create a clear family agreement around AI companions and device use. Keep phones and tablets out of bedrooms overnight. Help your child build stronger friendships and real life connections where they feel seen, valued and understood. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260809dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion The boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.” Matthew 14:24-27 Don’t Doubt God’s Word The Sea of Galilee is seven hundred feet below sea level. It’s the lowest freshwater lake on the planet. When winds whip through the surrounding mountains and into that watery Galilean crater, storms come quickly and out of nowhere. That is where the disciples are—on a boat, in a windstorm, at night. Jesus is not with them. In fact, Jesus was the one who told them to cross the sea. It shows that being a disciple is not easy. You can’t assume that life will be exactly how you want it. Life is full of unexpected storms. What do you do when they arise? The temptation is to doubt God’s Word. We hear God’s promises, but we are tempted to wonder if he is reliable. If he were, why would life be so difficult right now? But don’t doubt God’s Word. Think about the disciples in that boat on the wind-whipped sea. What are they looking at? They’re looking at Jesus. It’s a surreal scene. Jesus goes out to them, walking on the rough water. No wonder they think they’re seeing a ghost. Then he speaks a word of promise: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” There is strength for faith. It’s not a ghost. It is the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Son of God! When we fear or worry, Jesus promises, “It is I who forgives. It is I who saves. Look at me. Focus not on the illness, not on the pain, not on the economy, not on yourself. Find strength for your faith in my promises.” God has laid a firm foundation for your faith in his excellent Word. Believe it. God’s promises are always powerful. They brought peace to the disciples, and they bring faith to your heart and hope for your future. Prayer: Lord, I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. There are two lessons available when something in your life keeps hurting. One is to get tougher. The other is to walk away. Most men only ever get coached on the first one.   WHAT THIS IS This is the first episode of something new we're calling Walk With Jon. No studio, no script, no guest, no editing. Just Jon Vroman on a walking trail near his house, thinking out loud. In his words: "What I don't want to do is stand at my desk anymore at my expensive microphone and try to record the highest quality show. I thought, if we were friends and on the phone and talking to each other, it would sound like this. You'd hear the wind in the background, the crunch of the rocks under my feet. It wouldn't be the highest quality audio, but it would be authentic. It would be real. You would be with me." So yes, the audio is rougher than what you're used to from us. That's the point. No edits, no stops, no re-records. His words again: "just mistakes, back steps, corrections throughout." In a world where you can't always tell what's real and what came out of a machine, these are his unfiltered thoughts as he walks. He also asks for two things up front. That you send feedback and tell him what you'd want him to think through out loud, because he's a verbal processor and this helps him as much as it helps you. And that you allow him to change his mind later, because that's what growth looks like.   WHAT HE'S THINKING ABOUT THIS MORNING He calls it the nut-kicking line. Picture standing in a line where you keep getting kicked, and a coach beside you saying the lesson is resilience. Toughen up. Build grit. Focus your attention somewhere else. Sometimes that's exactly right. But Jon's point is that there's a second lesson almost nobody coaches, which is that you're allowed to step out of the line. Learning to let go, to say no, to move on, is also a lesson. He works it through his own three ultramarathons, one of which he thinks genuinely hurt him, and then through marriages, business partners, employees, and kids of divorce who say they wish their parents had separated sooner. Both paths have beautiful stories. Both have regrets. As he puts it: "All of it's true." The question he lands on isn't which one is right. It's what you'd hear if you got quiet and honest enough to ask yourself.   IN THIS WALK: Why he's recording on a trail instead of at his desk, and what unfiltered is worth right now Why he reserves the right to change his mind, and why that's growth and not flip-flopping The nut kicking line, and the two very different lessons hiding inside it His 52-mile walk-run in 2006, doing it again in 2007, and the anniversary run ten years later that cost him Whether ultra-endurance events serve your body or only your mindset, and where David Goggins fits Ben Greenfield trading hard training for long walks, and what shifting seasons looks like Where this shows up for real: marriages, business partners, employees, and children of divorce Why he believes there are no bad decisions, only decisions, and that even the hard ones come with blessings It's okay to not be okay, and even indecision is a decision The Hoffman Institute method his friend David uses: asking your emotional body, mind, heart, and spirit separately, then integrating the answers Jon's four core values: truth, love, respect, responsibility Front Row Dads turning 10, and heading back to Philadelphia where it started in 2016 Jon reads every reply. If something here landed, or if you think he's wrong about it, tell him. He'd say the disagreement is as useful as the agreement, because it shows you what you actually believe. _________________________________________________________ Front Row Dads is a brotherhood of family men with businesses, not businessmen with families. Original Post Date: August 9, 2024 === Gospel Matthew 16:24-28 Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay each according to his conduct. Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.” Reflection Nothing seems clearer in the teaching of Jesus, that we have to become people that are others centered, not self-centered. It's so easy for us to have it without even realizing it, that we focus everything on what's happening to me and how am I feeling it? What is fair and what is unfair? And all Jesus is saying is, look. Let go of that. Focus on self and focus on me. Focus on me and what I've done, what I'm doing. The example I have and you'll find life. Closing Prayer Father, your gift to us is your transforming grace. And one of the signs that it works within us, is that we see ourselves focused less and less on our wants, our needs, and focused on the things that people need around us. Free us from a prison of self-centeredness. And we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
