Paul closes by warning the wealthy to be humble, generous, and focused on eternal treasure rather than earthly riches. We are reminded that real gain is not found in possessions or status, but in godliness and contentment. We live in a world that constantly pushes us to want more, yet God calls us to be satisfied in Him. We must be careful not to let money or pride guide our choices. Instead, we should pursue what lasts: righteousness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. We are in a spiritual fight, and we must hold tightly to what is true. If we have been given much, we are called to be generous and humble. Our hope must rest not in what we can earn or own, but in a life awaiting the Lord Jesus Christ, who will rule for all eternity.   Kind Father, we come to You with hearts that want to be content in You alone. Teach us to let go of our need for more and to rest in the riches of Your grace. Help us to flee from selfish desires and chase after qualities that imitate the holiness of Your Son. Strengthen us to fight the good fight and hold tightly to the eternal life You have promised. Remind us that everything we have comes from You. Make us generous, humble, and focused on what truly matters. May our hope be anchored in You, and in nothing else.  Thought Questions: How far will you go to honor God's name and doctrine? Why must you accept the challenge to treat people well, no matter who they are? Why is the love of money the root of all sorts of evil? Today, Nicole and Diana welcome Gavin Beinart-Smollan, the Public Historian in Residence at The Jewish Board, one of New York State's largest and oldest mental health and social service agencies. Gavin is also a PhD candidate at New York University, researching the history of Jewish immigration and the Jewish immigrant family. He is the project lead for 150yearsofcare.org, a digital history exhibition and genealogy database. In this episode, Gavin discusses two incredible resources: the National Desertion Bureau Card Catalog (1911–1935) and the United Hebrew Charities of New York Recipients & Donors (1869–1877) database. Diana asks Gavin about the National Desertion Bureau Card Catalog, an index to cases where an agency helped women track down husbands who had abandoned their families. Gavin explains that the catalog includes husband's and wife's names, case dates, referring agencies, and causes of desertion, which can include "another woman," "lack of support," or "laziness." He also mentions that longer case files contain even more information and sometimes even photos. Nicole asks why a mental health and social service agency would build a genealogy database, and Gavin explains that it connects people in poverty to the past. Empires monetized resources like rubber, transplanted from the Amazon and causing massive deforestation in the Malay Peninsula. Global economic integration meant US grain could be shipped to London more cheaply than Irish grain. While historical focus is often Eurocentric, migration in the Indo-Pacific region (e.g., India to Southeast Asia) exceeded transatlantic migration, creating current geopolitical sensitivities. British infrastructure in India, such as railroads, aimed primarily at administrative efficiency. Furthermore, irrigation projects often failed, causing soil salinity due to rapid water evaporation in high temperatures. Scientific awareness of global warming predated the 1883 Krakatoa eruption.

The history of denim takes us back to the 16th century and Neme, France. However, it is not until 1872 that denim fabric was transformed into the iconic clothing item that we now know as blue jeans. In 1872 a tailor, by the name of Jacob Davis, was asked to make a pair of pants for a miner that would last longer. He added copper rivets to the key stress points on the paints. He was working for Levi Strauss, a Bavarian-born dry goods merchant. It was the peak of the Gold Rush. The pant design became an instant success. Davis asked Strauss to help him fund his design patent. Strauss agreed. The patent was issued in 1873 and a business partnership was established. Levi Strauss Jean company was formed. AI hype has been loud for three years, but most leaders still tell me the real work begins after the demo. That was the starting point for my conversation with Christina Ellwood, co-founder of AI Realized, a community built to help enterprises move from pilots to production with less noise and more results.  Christina has a calm, practical way of explaining why progress has accelerated from a tiny fraction of companies in production to roughly one in five this year, and why many of the remaining blockers have little to do with model choice and everything to do with people, policy, and permission to ship. We talk about the messy middle between a proof of concept and a live service that customers can rely on. According to Christina, the most complex problems are organizational. Teams need upskilling, guardrails, and clear deployment guidelines to ensure effective execution. Legal and brand risk create hesitation. Boards want more substantial evidence and better controls. That is where leadership shows up in a very human way.  The skill she hears most often from successful program leads is humility. No one knows everything here, and the leaders who admit that, invite challenge, and keep learning are the ones getting to value without creating chaos. I loved her point that cross-organisational leadership is fast becoming the hidden superpower as AI connects systems and workflows that used to sit in separate silos. We also look forward to the 2025 AI Realized Summit, scheduled for November 5 in San Francisco. Attendance is intentionally capped at 500 to maintain high-quality conversation and genuine networking.
