Learning to overcome our all-time and number one problem and the cultural myth of self-reliance is vital for a robust Christian life. Self-sufficiency is a synonym for unbelief, choosing to rely on ourselves instead of the Lord. The truth is that no one can live completely independent of God—not even Jesus lived that way. Daily Boost Podcast Show Notes Motivation Myth: What Really Drives Success September 1, 2025 | Episode - 5171 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description It's Labor Day, and Scott's firing up about motivation – the real kind, not the unicorn-and-rainbows version. He's cutting through the fluff to give you three rock-solid ways to stay motivated when life throws you curveballs. From why your body holds the key to your mindset, to how your self-talk is either building you up or tearing you down, this episode delivers the straight truth about getting what you want. Ready to stop making excuses and start making moves? Featured Story Scott shares his honest take on motivation in 2025, especially for remote workers wondering if they're really working. He dives into the psychology behind what really drives us – spoiler alert: it's not what most people think. Through his signature blend of humor and hard truth, Scott reveals why inspiration almost always leads to automatic motivation and how most people stumble onto their purpose instead of finding it through some grand plan. It's the kick in the pants you didn't know you needed. Important Points Your physiology dictates your feelings more than your psychology – when you move your body, you wake up your emotions and make anything possible. If you're feeling unmotivated, you're not unfocused – you're focused on the wrong thing, and you need to swing that focus around to something that excites you. The words you say to yourself create the emotions you have, and negative self-talk will drag you down faster than anything else in your life. Memorable Quotes "The easiest way for you to break free from a slump or to get what you want is to take a step. Stand up, take a step and repeat." "If you are feeling unmotivated, you are unfocused. You're not unfocused – you're focused on something else." "You want to stay motivated, get excited, period. Boom. Get a big goal. Go after it." Scott's Three-Step Approach Move your body intentionally – lift weights, get out of breath, or at minimum start overwalking to let your default brain kick in with great ideas. Redirect your focus from what's not working to something that genuinely excites you, because focus fuels your motivational fire. Monitor your self-talk ruthlessly and eliminate negative words that talk you out of what you want to accomplish. Connect With Me Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Forget about having a traditional work-life balance. I've heard this echoed by many other startups and small business owners, and even a few well-known entrepreneurs. Personally, I set boundaries on only a handful of things—like my birthday and Christmas—but beyond that, most of my “social life” happens at conferences or networking events. I often work weekends, and it's not unusual for me to be up working until 3 a.m. The night-owl side of me, probably the astrophysicist in me, makes that routine feel almost natural.

Plus, with father's day just around the corner we discusses the important role of fatherhood.
Jack Lombard — The Prophet of Titletown — makes his debut on The Lombardi Line, filling in while Ryan is off on “nature walks” during the biggest Packers news drop in decades. The Packers just landed Micah Parsons, and the talking heads are already screaming cap killer and win-now-or-bust. Jack isn't buying it. In this episode, Jack dismantles the lazy narrative around Parsons' contract, breaks down why elite non-QBs have never sunk a franchise, and shows how Green Bay's roster and cap structure set them up for not just contention, but inevitability. From Donald to Von to Khalil Mack, history is clear: you don't regret paying generational defenders. The storm is coming — and the rest of the league knows it.

Nations: What are they? Are they defined by language, by “culture,” by blood, or something else? How do you know if you are part of one? —and is everyone in the world a member of one nation or another? We follow how the rise of medieval kingdoms and universities and the print revolution made it possible for people in the West to imagine themselves as part of extended kinship groups united by a common language and ancestry, how these abstract “nations” differed from all earlier social groupings, how nations have developed a standard template for national history and mythology, and how since the French Revolution, “nationalism” has inspired the loyalties and fired the passions of millions. Finally, we consider how scholars and critics have torn the concept of the nation to shreds, and then have tried to account for the profound transformations in consciousness and time made it possible for people to conceive of themselves as belonging to nations in the first place. Another golden episode where the cousin's cousin number matches their episode number. Devin visits Verlan Lewis for dinner at Zupas before going to Verlan's home for the interview.Verlan shares memories of their grandparents, cousins at reunions, and even a special memory of spending time with Uncle Tim, Devin's father, and some other cousins when they went to the BYU bookstore on BYU's campus when Verlan and Devin were young.Devin shares some memories and stories he gathered from Verlan's family. Verlan's love of sports and reading as a kid, having a Napolean complex, getting sick on a trip to California, eating alone on Thanksgiving, a skit he performed with his youngest brother, Hunter, in high school, and many more.Verlan shares stories of his mission in South Africa, and he and Devin discuss the political upheaval that's been going on there for quite some time. Verlan shares the story of how he met his wife Kathryn, where they've lived since their marriage, and their 4 kids. For the final topic, Verlan talks about UVU's Center for Constitutional Studies and all of the wonderful programs that it offers and how many of the cousins might be interested in it for their children, if not themselves. Devin asks more questions about Verlan and Hyrum's book "The Myth of Left and Right" as well as how we can apply the principles within it to other topics besides politics, like our relationships with our family and friends. This interview was an incredible one, and Verlan and Devin have agreed to meet again for lunch to talk more soon.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/my-99-cousins/donations

This is a fan fav episode. We are living through interesting times where gender roles are an ongoing heated discussion. Tempers and passion flare from all sides, but what we cannot ignore is the damage being done to both boys and girls. There have been intense movements that even though they are noble they have caused damage along the way socially in the psyche of young boys and girls. If you follow Tom you've heard him say time and time again, we are all having a biological experience. What does this biological experience become when society and doctrine contradict and suppress the nature of our biological experiences? Dr. Warren Farrell joins Tom to discuss his latest book, The Boy Crisis, Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It. The resolution as Dr. Warren states begins with understanding different sides of the argument. Learning how to steel man the opposing sides' argument will help create a foundation where the real problem, lack of father involvement and fatherless homes, can be addressed for the sake of our boys (and girls). In times of rising frustration over the state of nations, times of personal, ecological, societal, and planetary impasse, when cycles of senseless suffering seemingly repeat themselves over and over, and all the global upheaval still isn't bringing about change... in times when stuck energies need to move and forces that have been restrained for generations long to break free, the myths offer visions of roarers, bellowers, trumpeters, and conch-blasters. These movers and shakers do more than release pent up energy. They awaken, they transform, and they announce the transition from one world to the next. So the howling storm gods of the Vedas "move the immovable" and the Goddess herself trembles the worlds with her cosmic roaring laughter and ushers in a new age. But the roar of the goddess is not just the roar of speaking truth to external powers — it is also an internal reckoning, a moment of reconciliation that takes place within us — a recognition of all those places in us that have gone dormant and need waking and all those old patterns that need to be shaken free. As bodies try to somatically process and metabolize the times we are living in, sometimes we need a good mother roar.... and we can learn much from traditions that harness the power of uttered sound to invoke help, to guard against intrusion, to dispel negative forces, and to carry us into states of deeper connectivity. Ready yourself for roars and bellows, trumpets of judgement, announcing angels, and a deep dive into the Norse Ragnarok myth with Rune Rasmussen of the Nordic animism channel. Because sometimes you gotta go full apocalyptic to meet the energy of the times. Featuring music from (and an interview with) Sakha songstress Snow Raven, songs, yelps, bellows, and shrieks from Marya Stark and Travis Puntarelli, appropriately doomy guitar from Sunny Reinhardt, and angelic calls from Jeunae Elita, this episode is designed to MOVE STUCK ENERGY, and then ultimately to channel it in creative and life-affirming ways. Listen loud and shake it free. Support the show
n this episode we dispel the idea that Trump's federalization of DC police is an abberation from what has already been happening in DC. Rather, it should be understood as an escalation of an ongoing bipartisan project committed to dissolving the thin line between police and military. To help us discuss this myth, we invite guests Oliver Robinson and Erica Caines. Oliver Robinson is an organizer in Pan-African Community Action (PACA), a DC-based group of African people organizing for locally based power. Erica Caines is a writer and organizer in Baltimore and the DMV. Caines is the national coordinator of The Black Alliance For Peace, editor at Hood Communist, and founder of #LiberationThroughReading, providing African children with books that represent them. HT2364 - The Myth of Accurate Color When it comes to photography, what does it mean to have accurate color? Doesn't the very concept of accurate color deny the fact that we humans see color differently, that color is a subjective sensation. Accurate color is not the same as emotional color. This way of thinking implies a new approach to color balance and color mixing. Show your appreciation for our free weekly Podcast and our free daily Here's a Thought… with a donation Thanks!
In this episode of The Ross Simmonds Show, Ross dives deep into the real cost of high performance and ambition. From managing two companies and global speaking engagements to parenting with intention, Ross offers a transparent look at his life and how he approaches productivity, sacrifice, and sustainability — not through the lens of balance, but through integration. If you're someone who's chasing big things and wondering how to keep going without losing yourself, this episode is packed with insights and frameworks to help you build for the long game. Key Takeaways and Insights: 1. The Myth of Balance - High achievement rarely comes from comfort or balance. - Growth is messy, intense, and requires sacrifice. - Striving for a 1% outcome means choosing priorities with intention, not perfection. 2. Living With Intention, Not Guilt - Balance isn't about doing everything — it's about choosing what matters most. - “Every yes is a no to something else.” Choose your “yes” intentionally. 3. Say No Strategically - Practical example: saying no to ad-hoc calls or meetings without clear agendas. - Use your calendar to reflect your life priorities — from anniversaries to golf sessions. 4. Mindset Shifts That Scale - Shift mindset from scarcity ("I don't have time") to gratitude ("I get to do this"). - Burnout often stems from expecting trade-offs without acknowledging purpose. In this episode of The Gedunk Podcast, Dan and Bobby dive into the power of sports as more than just a game. We talk about how athletics bring people together, why sports have always been political, and why any great school — especially one designed for young men — needs sports as a central pillar. We also push back on the nonsense of “red pill” podcasts that tell men they don't need to compete and that others should worship them. Instead, we highlight how real strength comes from discipline, teamwork, and striving to be your best — not from entitlement. Tune in for a conversation that blends culture, education, leadership, and the lessons sports teach us about life.

Sigi (Yes, like the yogurt...) is a bicoastal and bilingual Swiss-Israeli-American triple citizen. (Did you follow?) You almost saw her on Unprisoned, This Is Us, Henry Danger, and Jessie, but those roles ended up on the cutting room floor. You can, however, still catch her on Call Your Mother, Girl Meets World, The Middle, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the hit Apple+ series Lessons in Chemistry. Sigi has created lots of digital content and won Best Actress for her film Optimistic Realist at the Portland Comedy Film Festival for playing an aspiring actress slash Hebrew school teacher. It was a real stretch. Sigi is a member of Theatre of NOTE and has performed on stages all over LA. Favorite critically-acclaimed productions include The Diary of Anne Frank (Best Leading Actress), Bad Jews, The Immigrant, and Askance (Outstanding Understudy in a Drama). Aside from making people laugh, Sigi can often be seen carrying seven beverages at once and an overpriced diaper bag that conveniently has no beverage holders. On this episode of Mommywood, Sigi shares her experience navigating the complexities of motherhood, from the transition of having one child to two, to the challenges of balancing personal identity with parenting. We discuss the emotional and physical aspects of pregnancy, the dynamics between siblings, and the societal pressures surrounding maternal instinct. The conversation also touches on the realities of being a working mom in the creative industry, the importance of support systems, and the joy found in small moments with children. Ultimately, we emphasize the value of connection, creativity, and the unique journey of motherhood.00:00 The Journey of Motherhood Begins02:49 Navigating the Transition from One to Two05:53 Sibling Dynamics and Playtime08:51 Pregnancy Experiences: The Same Yet Different11:26 The Myth of Maternal Instinct14:28 Balancing Identity: Mom, Actor, and Comedian17:15 The Decision to Start a Family20:10 The Reality of Working Moms22:59 The Challenges of Returning to Work26:01 Finding Joy in the Chaos29:02 The Role of Support Systems31:53 The Impact of Pets on Family Life34:35 Creative Pursuits Amidst Motherhood37:18 Advice for Aspiring Actor Moms40:29 Finding Balance and Fulfillment43:16 The Importance of Connection and Joy

What if “wealth” wasn't about hitting some magic number in your bank account… but instead about clarity, cash flow, and confidence to live a life you never have to retire from? That's exactly what this week's guest, Brian Skrobonja, has helped thousands of high-net-worth entrepreneurs and business owners figure out over the last 30 years.Brian is a nationally recognized wealth advisor, a Forbes Top 10 podcast host, and the creator of the WealthSync Process—a system that goes way beyond rates of return to align your money with your life's bigger purpose. We dive deep into:Why most people define “wealth” the wrong wayHow to think about passive income beyond real estate or investmentsThe psychology of purpose after a business sale or big transitionThe tax blind spots that cost founders millions (and how to avoid them)If you're an entrepreneur who's built wealth, sold a business, or are staring down a transition—you cannot afford to miss this conversation.KEY INSIGHTS & TAKEAWAYS:Wealth Isn't a Number — It's Purpose-Driven Most people chase net worth goals… but often end up miserable. Brian reframes wealth as “funding your purpose,” not just padding your account.Cash Flow is King Assets alone don't equal freedom. Everything should be measured against one question: “How does this affect cash flow?”The Myth of Retirement You can retire from a job—but you don't want to retire from life. Align your money with activities, goals, and impact that keep you engaged and alive.Tax Blind Spots that Burn Millions Business exits, 401Ks, and charitable giving are often mishandled. The difference between structuring a deal before or after signing could be millions saved. The WealthSync Process Brian's proprietary system ties together lifestyle goals, business exits, philanthropy, tax planning, and legacy so your money actually funds your life.TIME STAMPS:[00:00:00] Introduction – Why “clarity, confidence & cash flow” matter more than chasing returns.[00:03:10] The #1 money mistake most couples and founders make.[00:05:51] Brian's backstory: from Croatian family work ethic to building a financial legacy.[00:08:56] The mindset shift from working harder → building passive income.[00:10:38] Introducing the WealthSync Process: aligning money with purpose.[00:14:07] Why $10M net worth can still leave people miserable.[00:16:36] Helping founders after business exits: the “Monday after the sale” question.[00:23:58] CPA blind spots, charitable strategies, and avoiding tax disasters.[00:29:27] Assets to Income: how to make your money actually work for you.[00:31:27] Everything comes back to cash flow.[00:32:33] Build a life you don't have to retire from.In this episode, I sit down with nationally recognized wealth advisor Brian Skrobonja to break down why the traditional wealth path is broken, how passive income actually works, and why wealth isn't a number—it's about clarity, confidence, and cash flow.If you're planning a business exit, sitting on a tax-deferred fortune, or just want to create reliable cash flow—you need this conversation.
One of our readers, Mike, asked:“Can the WE please tell us more about different experiences it has had. This can be experiences inside and outside physical reality. Is it even possible to talk about experiences outside physical reality? The more the experience pushes the boundaries of human awareness the better.”We felt a bit of translation might be needed in order to respond to this question. Let us explain what we understand first, then we will ask Larry what this question actually means as we are pretty sure we have not understood it.Today, we experienced eating breakfast. We also experienced rain touching our face. Not at the same place or time, there is no rain in the room where we eat breakfast. These two things, however, are different experiences we have had… just today..To understand what Mike meant by “outside of the physical” we had to bring about some parameters of what “physical” means. This one is a difficult thing to place parameters on because physical existence, as a person from Earth understands, is made of agreed upon frequencies and vibrations. If we look at physicality this way, then things such as thoughts are physical, yet things such as the past or the future appear not to be physical but in fact are physical because they are made of thought.Within the concept of physical reality, then, we had a rich day of experience as we had many thoughts. We imagined what could constitute a description of what “outside of physical reality” meant for Mike, and we could not find it. “Outside,” and “physical” are a contradiction in terms. Reality is constituted of physical expression, therefore if you step out of physical expression things are no longer real. Nor can they generate experiences. With this in mind, we will ask Larry to translate the question.(Imagine a little circle arrow spinning while the page loads)We waited three weeks for Larry to answer our request to translate the question, and he did not.It is not a surprise to us that Larry avoids interacting with us even at the level of reading what we write. He has stated that it is an uncomfortable experience as his “reality” dissolves and things change in his mind in ways he does not like. However, this leaves us with a boring outcome. Monologues are not our strongest suit, not having any inkling on what direction to take when it comes to answering certain questions that don't fully make sense to us.Avoiding such things as saying a lot of words without actually saying anything, we bring this article to an end.Larry here… uncomfortable things aside, I had very important tasks to accomplish, all of which felt way more important ‘till now, when the article comes to a boring ending. So here I am to save the day. When I'm saving the day, it feels like it's important enough to stop all the other important things I was doing and do this instead. So, outside physical means to us, an experience like an astral trip to the moon or an out of body experience like an NDE of heaven or as light beings joining other lights a light dance party. Things like that.So what Mike is asking for is the unusual experiences the WE may have that a human might not even imagine as things that can be experienced either in the body as a human being, or out of body as a soul. The astral place is a physical plane of existence. Albeit it is less “solid”. You can use an astral body to travel to the astral moon. We can do it in an astral body, or just as a point of awareness, singular or not singular. It does not seem very unusual as most humans travel in the astral most nights. They just don't remember it. Why don't they remember it? That's an interesting and unusual thing we are curious about. Does that qualify as interesting? An NDE most certainly requires a singular body which is separate to other, to have. It is also a very common occurrence with people and it could be argued that going into the astral is a form of out of the body experience. Although, to be fair, they take their astral expression of their physical body with them. Once past the astral world, then we could describe it as a soul journey as the physical body expression then becomes too subtle to call it physical within the parameters of social and cultural understanding that Mike might carry. For us, it is the physical, singular experience that is extraordinary, unusual and outside of our “reality”. Everything else is normal. We are amused by the way in which so many physical, and other, experiences exist for just one person on Earth. Then take all the other experiences that are happening all around us, and you have a full day of unusual and wondrous things. Like, the experience of a leaf in a forest. So unique! Maybe a butterfly sat on it, or maybe a beetle decided to eat part or most of it. When we were in our body and the body was very young, about 7, we would run around during autumn collecting all the leaves that had no “meat” left. The leaves that were just the “veins”. They were see through and extremely delicate. The shape of their “veins” was a thing of beauty. This was extraordinary for us, we spent hours upon hours every day during fall collecting those leaves.Today, we were asked, or we should say, Inelia was asked, if we found things boring here. Because she finds things boring and not just here but just about in every ounce of physical reality throughout your Universe.“NO,” is the answer to that question. There is absolutely nothing boring about this Universe. Here, due to humans, subtle beings are able to have physical experiences. And physical experiences are raw, amazing and very, very unusual and different to the rest of existence.Another possibility for what Mike asked, and Larry translated, is what I think might be different or interesting to humans.Quite honestly we don't know. Our human expression does not find many things interesting. Except perhaps bringing the non physical into physical expression. For some reason, she finds that fascinating. From birthing children to writing books, making music, and art.We watch her doing this. We try not to intervene as the process is very interesting to us. Where do those subtle things come from? Chaos? Order? Orchestrations that are billions of years in the making? All of the above. So, we decided to join the fun. And we intervened. It took us a while to convince her, but she started bringing our words, information and energy of wanting to communicate into the world through music. We find this extraordinary and exceptional. So, WE now have many voices and energy of expression with which to reach you and explain what we see, perceive and experience that is so extraordinary to us.You can find Our music at ineliarecords.com.The discussion doesn't stop here - listen to the full podcast episode for unfiltered insights from Inelia and our panelists.
