Today, we're celebrating Sarah's birthday by hoping she gets to do what she loves most, sneaking food into the cinema. We also vent about a torturous hike ruined by unprompted motivational speeches from men on the trail. Then, we get into the science of attraction. Think you have a "type"? During the State of the Union, Donald Trump pitched his "Save America Act" as a simple bill to secure elections. He lied. In this video, Marc Elias breaks down the text of the bill to reveal a much darker reality: a plan that doesn't just suppress votes, but fundamentally redefines voting from a right into a "privilege" controlled by the powerful. The "Save America Act" isn't about election integrity—it's an authoritarian wish list. From banning mail-in voting to imposing impossible "proof of citizenship" requirements, this legislation is designed to give one man King-like control over who gets to participate in American democracy.Support Democracy Docket's mission:https://newsletters.democracydocket.com/anchor-youtube-thursdayFollow Democracy Docket:Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/democracydocket.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/democracydocketFacebook: https://facebook.com/democracydocketX/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DemocracyDocketTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@democracydocketThreads: https://www.threads.net/@democracydocket00:00 Why You Didn't Need to Watch the State of the Union00:58 The Real Threat Buried in the State of the Union03:37 Trump Pushes the “Save America Act”06:32 The Myth of Non-Citizen Voting09:24 The Truth About Voter ID Laws14:35 Proof of Citizenship and Mass Disenfranchisement21:20 The Line That Gave It Away: Voting Is a “Privilege”25:13 Why Redefining Voting Changes Everything28:54 Trump Pressures the Senate to Act First32:07 The Media, the GOP, and What Happens Next
We welcome back John Horvat of Tradition Family and Property to evaluate where socialism comes up short. While the prospect of free handouts can sound attractive to some, there are dangerous consequences that come with it, and the poor track record backs that up. Why does socialism undermine private property, human dignity, and incentives for virtue, family, and honest work, and what are some reasonable alternatives? You can't outrun a bad diet—but it turns out you might not even be able to outrun a good one. In this episode of A Whole New Level, evolutionary anthropologist Dr. Herman Pontzer joins Mike Haney to dismantle the "armchair view" of metabolism and explain why more exercise doesn't necessarily mean more calories burned.Drawing on his groundbreaking research with the Hadza hunter-gatherer community and global meta-analyses, Dr. Pontzer explains the Constrained Energy Model: the phenomenon where our bodies hit a metabolic ceiling and begin "trading off" energy from vital systems like immunity and reproduction to account for physical activity. This conversation reframes weight loss not as a simple math problem of "calories in vs. calories out," but as a dynamic, evolutionary balancing act.Sign Up to Get Your Free Ultimate Guide to Glucose: https://levels.link/wnlIn this episode, we cover:The Myth of Additive Energy: Why adding a 300-calorie run to your day doesn't actually result in 300 extra calories burned over the long term. The Hadza Paradox: How hunter-gatherers who walk miles every day burn the same amount of total energy as sedentary Westerners.Metabolic Trading: How your body "pays" for exercise by dialing down inflammation, stress responses, and reproductive hormones. The Business of the Body: Why the human body acts less like a simple machine and more like a corporation reallocating a limited budget. The "Set Point" Debate: Whether our bodies are tracking pounds on a scale or the flow of energy in the gut.Practical Weight Management: Why diet is the primary tool for weight, while exercise is the primary tool for everything else.
What's your favourite Love Song?On this month's episode of Forgotten Melodies, to cap off February, we're chatting about our own, and digging into and performing three iconic folk songs about love. These new arrangements are of Cupid the Pretty Plough Boy, Green Bushes and No John No, including our friend Katie Sommers singing soprano parts, plus Martin, Ben and Eleanor chatting about the history and context of each tune. From the roots of the Love Ballad in the Middle East and north Africa via Renaissance poetry and the blooming of comic opera, the Love Songs of today have been on a long journey of evolution. And yet, has the nature of love really changed so much across the centuries?Have we lost things in the mission to make some of these songs 'Drawing Room Safe?'And can Ben ever explain the Dorian Mode in a way Martin will understand?!We hope you enjoy listening to us chewing over these questions and much more beside - and this clutch of brighter songs as the weather brightens into spring.Speak to you again on Saturday, with this week's Local Legends interview with David Rowe, and again on Sunday for our March Update episode! The Three Ravens is a Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on a historic county, exploring the heritage, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcastREGISTER FOR THE TALES OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND TOURVisit our website Join our Patreon Social media channels and sponsors Hosted on Acast. In this season of Lent we are giving up doomscrolling. But do we have Sunday off? We may have uncovered a local Catholic schism that is changing the way Ann views Lent. Watch the podcast to find out the truth and please use the comments to let us know what you are giving up for Lent and whether it includes Sunday. And Tucker needs to find himself another sucker. We bring you the truth about his misleading interview with US Ambassador Mike Huckabee. And the truth about Israeli security harassing him and his Producer. It's just a normal part of travel to Israel and not harassment. Watch the show to hear how we turned the tables (in a good way) on a ferocious Israeli airport security officer. It turned sweet in the end. You can also read about it in our latest substack (linked below). And as we always suspected - the idea that California is in permanent drought and needs expensive regulations to fix it - is complete nonsense. And this week we speak to the researcher who has uncovered the scandal. It's a huge story. And we're starting a new recurring segment called “the most ridiculous headline”. Ann gets the ball rolling with a hilarious but terrifyingly serious piece from the National Post. And please like and subscribe wherever you get our content. We can't read your mind but we can read your comments which we love. And we may even show some of them on the air!OCTOBER 7 the play was a huge success at the Trump Kennedy Center! It's becoming increasingly obvious that Trump's mountain of broken promises, radical foreign policy decisions and unorthodox economic policies are causing deep damage to his MAGA brand.Last week the Supreme Court, with three Trump appointees, ruled against Trump's use of IEEPA to issue tariffs. The court's ruling was only one of many failures for Trump last week as newly revised jobs data showed a major contraction in the labor market last year. The trade deficit in 2025 showed little improvement despite Trump's widespread use of tariffs and the fourth quarter GDP reading was well below expectations.According to multiple polls Americans have tired of Trump's harsh immigration policies, and military threats to foreign countries. Most voters have no interest in conquering Greenland, crushing Cuba, managing Venezuela or invading Iran.Grocery prices and utility bills remain elevated while Trump gaslights the American public insisting that costs for everything have dropped dramatically. Health insurance premiums for millions of Americans have dramatically increased while SNAP and Medicaid benefits have been cut.Meanwhile the president remains obsessed with his gigantic White House ballroom and plans for an oversized monumental arch built in his honor. The glorious leader has lost support among nearly every demographic except for his cultish base of supporters. There are even signs that diehard MAGA fans are losing faith.Underneath all of the spin more sinister details surrounding Trump's possible involvement with Jeffrey Epstein's many heinous crimes and sex trafficking operation remains.Fox News is desperate to keep the Trump myth alive either by ignoring stories that make the president look bad or spending excessive amounts of coverage on segments that aren't political. One sign of the network's panicked approach was the fact that Barack Obama's name appeared 74 times in the transcripts last week. No kidding. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit decodingfoxnews.substack.com/subscribe

"Whatever it is you want most in the world right now is what you need to give." This simple but profound realization, sparked during a silent meditation retreat, serves as the heartbeat for a movement dedicated to reclaiming our shared humanity. In a world optimized for digital efficiency, the true currency of a meaningful life remains the "un-scalable" power of human connection. In this episode of Gratitude Through Hard Times, Chris Schembra sits down with Aaron Hurst, the visionary CEO of the US Chamber of Connection and founder of the Taproot Foundation. While Aaron is a titan of the pro bono world, having catalyzed billions of dollars in social impact, this conversation strips away the professional accolades to explore the raw, essential need for friendship and community. Aaron shares a vulnerable look at his own journey—from the "epiphany of 50" to navigating the profound grief of losing his mother, Bonnie. Together, Chris and Aaron dismantle the myth that technology can replace presence, arguing that the "low barrier to laughter" and the intentional act of welcoming others are the only real antidotes to our modern epidemic of isolation. 10 Memorable Quotes: "Whatever it is you want most in the world right now is what you need to give." "Humanity is what binds us. It's what we create together." "I focus on connection, not conversion." "The act of welcoming is a fundamental human right." "Friendship isn't a luxury; it's the infrastructure of a healthy society." "We have traded meaningful friction for frictionless isolation." "You can't scale belonging without shrinking the room." "My mother had a 'low barrier to laughter,' and that was her greatest gift to the world." "The modern world is designed for capital, not for people." 10 Key Takeaways: The Reciprocity of Need: Aaron's breakthrough realization that if you lack friendship, you must become a friend; if you lack grace, you must extend it. The 1099 Connection Challenge: Much like the real estate world, building community in a "gig" economy requires creating environments where people choose to belong. The "Epiphany of 50": A deep dive into Aaron's personal turning point and how hitting a milestone age forced a re-evaluation of what "success" actually looks like. Legacy of Service: Exploring Aaron's family roots—from his grandfather's blueprint for the Peace Corps to his mother's spirit of care—and how legacy shapes our mission. Diffusion of Innovation in Social Change: Why focusing on the "initiators" (the 15-20% who naturally build community) is more effective than trying to convert the cynical. Low Barrier to Laughter (LBL): The importance of humor and play as tools for resilience, inspired by the life and memory of Bonnie Hurst. Welcoming as a Design Principle: The philosophy behind the US Chamber of Connection—making "welcoming" a measurable and intentional act in every organization. The Myth of Digital Community: Why a Zoom call can never replace the "meaningful friction" of physical presence and shared meals. The Grief of Losing a North Star: Aaron reflects on the "hard time" of losing his mother and how her values continue to guide his work today. Human-Centric Infrastructure: A call to action for leaders to prioritize social health over mere capital accumulation to ensure a sustainable future for the next generation. About our Guest: Aaron Hurst, CEO & Founder Aaron Hurst is a social entrepreneur, author, and the visionary leader behind the US Chamber of Connection. As the founder of the Taproot Foundation, he is credited with creating the $15 billion pro bono service market, engaging tens of thousands of skilled volunteers to help nonprofits thrive. Aaron's work is deeply influenced by his family's legacy in the Peace Corps and the Aspen Institute, driving his lifelong commitment to civic infrastructure. A sought-after speaker and executive coach, Aaron is the author of The Purpose Economy. He resides in a world where he continues to advocate for the power of "earned connection" and the vital necessity of prioritizing humanity in the modern workplace. He is a devoted advocate for the "initiators" of the world, helping them build the bridges that keep us all connected.

In this conversation on The Estranged Heart, Kreed explores the complex dynamics of estrangement and reconciliation between parents and their adult children. She emphasizes the importance of self-respect and emotional growth for parents who often find themselves in a cycle of chasing their estranged children. The discussion highlights the need for parents to stop pursuing their children out of desperation and instead focus on their own lives, allowing space for healing and potential reconnection. Kreed also distinguishes between reunion and reconciliation, stressing that true healing involves more than just physical proximity; it requires emotional safety and the courage to engage in difficult conversations.TakeawaysMany parents chase their adult children out of love and fear.Healing cannot be tethered to the hope of reunion.Reunion is about proximity; reconciliation is about emotional safety.Love involves being open to difficult conversations, not just waiting. In this episode of the Explaining History Podcast, we're joined by writer Susan Barrett to discuss her new novel, *All Cats Are Grey*—a dark and compelling work of historical fiction set against the backdrop of the London Blitz. The book tells the story of four very different people, each of whom has committed what might be called a "necessary murder" in their past. They come together during the chaos of the blackout to use their lethal skills against a serial rapist and murderer who is exploiting the wartime disruption to terrorise the bomb-scarred streets of London. This villain is inspired by a real figure: Gordon Cummings, an infamous but largely forgotten serial killer of the Blitz era.But our conversation ranges far beyond the plot. Susan, whose background is in film and television research, shares fascinating insights into how historical research has changed—and what we lose in the age of the internet. She discusses the serendipity of physical archives, the power of handwritten ledgers and Victorian photographs, and the surprising voices uncovered by the Mass Observation project that challenge our assumptions about "respectable" wartime behaviour. We also delve into the mythology of the Blitz itself. How does the reality of crime, class division, and social disruption sit alongside the cherished national story of plucky unity? What did people actually think and do when the bombs were falling? And why does Britain have such a peculiar fascination with poisoners and serial killers? From the tragic case of Timothy Evans and Reginald Christie to the Jack the Ripper industry, from the origins of the welfare state to the echoes of COVID—this is a wide-ranging conversation about history, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves.*All Cats Are Grey* is published on 24th April by Bathwick Hill Press, a small independent publisher. Please consider supporting independent bookshops and publishers.**Topics covered:**- The changing nature of historical research in the internet age- The Gordon Cummings case and wartime crime- Mass Observation and authentic voices from the past- The mythology of the Blitz versus historical reality- Britain's fascination with serial killers and poisoners- How COVID helps us understand wartime disruption- The importance of independent publishing---*If you enjoy the podcast, please consider supporting us on Patreon for ad-free listening and exclusive content.*Explaining History helps you understand the 20th Century through critical conversations and expert interviews. Hope is hosting Compassionate Living's Humane Hoax Online Conference on March 17, 2026 and to entice you to register, we are replaying a fantastic conversation from Episode 81 on humanewashing in journalism. Lisa Barca is one of the 18 contributing authors to Hope's anthology The Humane Hoax: Essays Exposing the Myth of Happy Meat, Humane Dairy and Ethical Eggs and they had an insightful conversation that we wanted to share again. The theme of this year's Humane Hoax Online Conference is language and narrative, so this conversation reflects our focus for the conference and we hope that you will register! The link is below. Lisa has fascinating insights into the portrayal of farmers, farmed animals, and our relationship to animals in her chapter and discusses them with Hope in this conversation. She explains the “absent referent,” or the erasing or hiding of animal's identities and how it relates to the humane hoax. She also talks about how the new “humane” do-it-yourself slaughter normalizes violence toward animals and she offers advice to journalists, and to us all, on language that helps the animals to be seen and heard in media stories about them.Lisa Barca is a lecturer in the Honors College at Arizona State University, where she teaches humanities, writing courses, and seminars on the ethics of humans' relationships with other animals. Her current research centers on critical animal studies, media ethics, rhetoric and ideology, and the intersections of feminism and animal rights. She holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures and is a contributing author to the volume Meatsplaining: The Meat Industry and the Rhetoric of Denial and also to The Humane Hoax: Essays Exposing the Myth of Happy Meat, Humane Dairy, and Ethical Eggs.Resources:Humane Hoax Online Conference InformationConference RegistrationOrder Hope Bohanec's Book: The Humane Hoax: Essays Exposing the Myth of Happy Meat, Humane Dairy, and Ethical Eggs

You've got the passion. You've got the vision. You've got the people behind you. And you still can't get a yes. Why? Because you're speaking YOUR language — not theirs. This episode of NoBS Wealth hits different. We're back in the studio with consultant and community builder Gabriel Langley, and we're going deep on one of the most overlooked problems destroying small businesses and community-driven projects today — the dangerous gap between hustle and strategy. Gabriel brings a real scenario to the table: a community event center project 10 years in the making. Passionate people. Powerful vision. Strong relationships. And a graveyard of nos from every major funding institution and city official they approached. The problem wasn't the project. The problem was the translation. They were not speaking the language that decision-makers needed to hear in order to say yes. This is the episode that will make you pause and ask yourself the question that most business owners are terrified to answer: Are YOU the reason your business isn't moving? Not because you're not working hard enough — you probably are. But because hustle without positioning is just exhaustion dressed up in motivation. It gets you in the room. It doesn't get you the check. Gabriel breaks down exactly what it took to wake this team up, what the numbers revealed that a decade of passion couldn't, and why the moment those 20 pages hit the table, everything changed. The real aha wasn't the proposal. It was realizing they had outgrown their own playbook. We run through the Noise vs. Truth rapid-fire segment and bust two myths that are holding entrepreneurs hostage right now. Myth one: if the vision is strong enough, someone will fund it. Myth two: keep pushing and it'll eventually work. The truth? Funders in 2026 don't care about your passion. They care about your contingency plan in a volatile market. And if you can't show them that — with data, demographics, job analysis, and projections — your pitch is noise. Doesn't matter how many doors you knock on.Then we walk through Gabriel's powerful 3-step framework that every business owner, founder, or dreamer needs tattooed somewhere visible: Surface the real problem. Make the invisible visible. Create the path forward. These aren't buzzwords. This is the actual process that turned a stalled 10-year dream into a funded, energized, actionable plan. And the urgency of the first 30 days after that clarity hits? That's the momentum that either saves your business or lets it die on the vine.We close this one out honoring Black History Month in a way that goes beyond the surface. Gabriel shares what the month means to him personally — rooted in his father's legacy, the African tradition of storytelling, As always we ask you to comment, DM, whatever it takes to have a conversation to help you take the next step in your journey, reach out on any platform!Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedinDISCLOSURE: Awards and rankings by third parties are not indicative of future performance or client investment success. In this episode of Makers & Mystics, Stephen Roach sits down with cultural critic, writer, and iconographer Jonathan Pageau to explore the state of contemporary storytelling and the enduring power of myth.Pageau, creator of The Symbolic World, explains how symbols operate beneath conscious awareness to shape imagination and culture. Together, they discuss why traditional narratives appear depleted, how propaganda differs from true myth, and why fairy tales continue to communicate truths modern culture struggles to articulate. The conversation turns toward artists and storytellers, what it means to create work rooted in beauty, transcendence, and enduring symbolic patterns rather than novelty or cynicism. The conversation also connects with the theme of The Breath and the Clay 2026 —what it means to make space: space in our art, in our imagination, and in our lives for transcendent meaning to take root.Jonathan Pageau will be our keynote presenter for this year's event in Winston-Salem, NC, March 20-22. http://www.thebreathandtheclay.com Send a textJoin Malcolm Guite, Jonathan Pageau, Stephen Roach, and so many others!http://www.thebreathandtheclay.comUse the code "mystic26" for a special podcast listener rate!Support the show Get Tickets to The Breath and The Clay 2026 featuring Malcolm Guite, Jon Guerra, and Jonathan Pageau! Does forgiveness mean you have to reconcile with the person who hurt you? NO. And that misconception keeps so many people stuck. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Suzanne Freedman, professor of human development at UNI and leading researcher on the psychology of forgiveness with over 30 years of experience. We're untangling what forgiveness actually is, why acknowledging anger isn't a failure of forgiveness (it's often a prerequisite), and how forgiveness can restore agency, energy, and self-trust. Here's what we're covering: Why forgiveness ≠ reconciliation (forgiveness is an internal transformation) How women are socialized to suppress anger (and why that quietly impacts wellbeing and leadership) The 4-phase forgiveness process (it took incest survivors an average of 14.3 months—it's not overnight) Why you can forgive without an apology (and why waiting for one keeps you trapped) How carrying anger is like wearing a heavy backpack full of rocks Why seeing the "monster" as a whole human being is actually empowering The Big Misconceptions About Forgiveness: Myth 1: Forgiveness = Reconciliation NOPE. Forgiveness is an internal transformation. You can forgive someone and never speak to them again. Reconciliation requires the other person to change. Forgiveness doesn't. Myth 2: Anger = Failure to Forgive NOPE. Anger is a normal, natural response to being hurt. It's what you DO with anger that matters. Women are taught anger is "bad"—but anger is often the first step toward forgiveness. You can't gloss over pain and jump to "feeling good" toward someone. Those feelings will leak out in other ways. Myth 3: Just Say "I Forgive You" and You're Done NOPE. For deep hurts, forgiveness is a PROCESS. Dr. Friedman worked with 12 incest survivors—average time to forgive? 14.3 months. It's not one-and-done. Myth 4: You Need an Apology to Forgive NOPE. Waiting for an apology keeps YOU trapped. You're saying "I can't heal until I get something from the person who hurt me." That doesn't make sense. You can choose to forgive for YOUR wellbeing without ever receiving an apology. The 4-Phase Forgiveness Process: Phase 1: Uncovering (Dealing with Feelings) Phase 2: Decision (Choosing to Forgive) Phase 3: Work (Reframing & Compassion) Phase 4: Deepening (Transformation) The Empowerment Piece: Forgiveness gives you AGENCY. You don't have to treat someone the way they treated you. You don't have to wait for an apology. You don't have to reconcile. You get to CHOOSE what forgiveness looks like for you. Dr. Freedman's Wisdom: "Forgiveness is not weakness. It comes from recognizing you deserve to respect yourself and you don't want to carry anger around anymore." And: "No one wants to be judged for their worst offense." For Your Bold Goals: If you're carrying workplace hurt, childhood wounds, or broken trust, forgiveness isn't about letting someone off the hook. It's about giving YOURSELF permission to heal, to trust again, and to lead without that heavy backpack. Do you remember losing your first tooth? The excitement… or maybe the fear? In this episode, I'm inviting you to look at the tooth fairy in a completely different way—not as a cute childhood myth or a simple money exchange, but as a powerful opportunity to shape how our kids relate to their bodies, growth, and self-worth. We're talking about the hidden messages behind “you lost a tooth,” the transactional trap of cash-for-teeth, and how a small shift in language can plant seeds for lifelong health, confidence, and body awareness. This isn't about canceling the tooth fairy—it's about being intentional with the moment. Because sometimes the smallest traditions carry the biggest impact. Before your child loses their next tooth, pause and ask yourself: What message do I want to send in this moment? Because it's not just about the tooth—it's about the story they'll carry forward about their body and themselves. If this episode made you think differently about a small but powerful parenting moment, I'd love for you to rate, follow, share, and leave a review of the podcast. It helps more parents join the Healthy Mouth Movement—and start creating intentional change, one tiny tooth at a time.
BOSSes, Anne Ganguzza and Tom Dheere (The VO Strategist) ring in the new year with a reality check on modern voiceover career strategy. In an industry increasingly influenced by AI and market saturation, the "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach is no longer viable. This episode is a deep dive into the power of focus—mastering one genre at a time, picking the right marketing portals, and closing the "relevance gap" by becoming a high-level human storyteller. Chapter Summaries: The Relevance Gap and AI (10:45) Tom introduces the "relevance gap"—the widening space between aspiring talent and working professionals. He argues that AI is rapidly consuming low-budget, entry-level work. To remain relevant, talent must move beyond simply "reading well" and invest in high-level storytelling skills (acting, improv, etc.) that AI cannot yet replicate. The Danger of the Multi-Demo Rush (03:55) The hosts notice a troubling trend: new talent getting five demos produced before they've mastered a single genre. This lack of focus leads to "sucking at everything." Anne emphasizes that even 20 coaching sessions might not be enough to reach the competitive level required for a professional demo in today's saturated market. Passion vs. Pragmatism: Reconciling Your Goals (15:19) While many enter VO wanting to do anime or video games, the market for corporate, e-learning, and medical narration is significantly larger. Tom suggests a pragmatic voiceover career strategy: use "bread and butter" genres like corporate work (where there are over 33 million potential clients) to fund your passion projects in character and animation work. The Myth of Social Media ROI (24:34) Tom reveals startling statistics on social media ROI for voice actors: Facebook (0.77%) and Twitter (0.69%) pale in comparison to LinkedIn (2.74%). While still low, LinkedIn represents a business-minded audience. The hosts warn that "enpoopification"—the decline of social media quality due to algorithms and AI—makes it harder than ever to find work through standard posting. The "New SEO": Getting Found by Chatbots (27:39) Anne shifts the focus to a forward-thinking strategy: SEO for AI. Companies are increasingly asking chatbots like ChatGPT or Claude for voice actor recommendations. To stay competitive, talent must populate their websites and blogs with high-quality, human-written content that these bots can index and recommend. The 2026 Focus Challenge (30:21) Tom issues a challenge to all VO Bosses: Pick one genre, one casting site, and one social media platform to focus on this year. By concentrating energy rather than scattering it, talent can build true momentum and authority in a specific corner of the market. Top 10 Takeaways for Voice Actors: Close the Relevance Gap: Invest in professional acting and storytelling training to stay ahead of AI-generated voices. Focus on One Genre First: Master the nuances and audience of one genre before producing a demo or marketing yourself in another. Market Pragmatism: Target the corporate and e-learning markets for consistent cash flow while you build your "passion" skills in animation. Avoid "Demo Bundle" Traps: Be wary of packages offering multiple demos for a deal; quality training takes time and individual focus for each genre. Audit Your Marketing Portals: Don't join every pay-to-play site at once. Pick one that aligns with your primary genre and master its algorithm. Prioritize LinkedIn: For B2B genres like corporate narration, LinkedIn offers a significantly higher ROI than other social platforms. Optimize for AI Search: Ensure your website's FAQ and Home pages are rich with pertinent information so chatbots can find and recommend you. Use Low-Budget Sites as Proving Grounds: Use sites like Fiverr or Casting Call Club for practice and project management experience, not as a final career destination. Human Content Wins: Write blogs and website copy with a "human-first" approach to reclaim search authority from AI-generated spam. The Foundation is Acting: Foundational acting skills are transferable across all genres. Master the craft first, and the genre proficiency will follow.
Explore the legal realities versus TV drama in police interrogations. Learn why attorneys can't simply barge in during questioning.Whether you're a true crime fan, a law student, or just someone curious about what really happens behind police station doors, this episode is packed with eye-opening advice and a dash of legal humor.Welcome back to another episode of Lawyer Talk! Today, Steve Palmer and Troy talk about the legal realities behind the hit TV show "Landman"—specifically, can a fiery defense attorney really burst into a police station and halt an interrogation, just like you see on TV?Spoiler alert: the real world doesn't play by Hollywood's rules.Drawing from their own legal insight and experience, they break down what really happens when someone is questioned by police, when your right to an attorney actually kicks in, and why your best move might just be to keep quiet. It's a candid, myth-busting conversation that uncovers the truth about Miranda rights, the right to counsel, and how legal drama often bends (or breaks) the rules for entertainment's sake. Here are 3 key takeaways from the episode:Lawyers Can't Just Burst Into Interrogations: Unlike dramatic TV lawyers, real attorneys can't force their way into police interview rooms to “save the day.” The police aren't required to halt questioning just because an attorney shows up.Know When Your Right to Counsel Actually Starts: The right to have a lawyer present usually doesn't “attach” until formal criminal charges are filed or a preliminary hearing is underway—not simply during a police interview or right after arrest.Best Advice? Stay Quiet: If you find yourself being questioned by the police, follow the golden rule: don't speak until you've talked to a lawyer. You can always request legal representation, and the police must then stop the interrogation.Got a question you want answered on the podcast? Call 614-859-2119 and leave us a voicemail. One of the main stumbling blocks for many people in this conscious creation community is the myth of separation. They believe that there is this human character, and then there is the 3D, the 4D, and everything else... that's outside of them. But it's that belief of separation that slows things down for you, in the first place. So, why don't we break that myth once and for all?
In this episode of the LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl, producer/musician Steve Berlin of Los Lobos dives into the chaotic world of Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs, recounting how a hard-living local legend became the heart of an unforgettable Los Angeles roots and cow-punk scene. The band's lone album - Pigus Drunkus Maximus - has just been reissued on Blind Owl Albums and its an incredible document of early L.A punk and rock history. Berlin explains how the band's loose, rotating lineup became legendary at the Café de Grande and drew everyone from punk icons to Hollywood personalities (Van Halen recorded a song called Top Jimmy in tribute to Jimmy; and Jimmy can be seen with John Doe in the Decline of Western Civilization. In addition to our conversation about Top Jimmy, Steve and host Scott Dudelson discuss early days with the Blasters and Los Lobos, the brotherly bond that keeps Los Lobos together after 50 years, an upcoming band documentary and behind the scenes stories recording both the La Bamba soundtrack (with Willie Dixon and Carlos Santana) and Graceland with Paul Simon (for which Los Lobos wrote "All Around the World or Myth of the Fingerprints" but never received credit or royalties). This episode is a deep, personal look at LA music history told by a musician and producer who lived it. Thank you for listening. The Myth of Time Healing: Contrary to popular belief, time alone does not heal betrayal wounds. Assessment responses reveal people still struggling 15, 35, even 40+ years after their betrayal, with statements like "feels like it happened yesterday" and "I'll never trust again." The Critical Difference: Betrayal recovery requires deliberate, intentional healing—you can't count on time or a new relationship to fix it. The Problem with Traditional Approaches Wrong Tools at the Wrong Stage: Even excellent therapeutic tools can backfire when applied at the inappropriate stage of recovery: Stage 2 (Shock & Trauma): Clients need nervous system regulation, not gratitude exercises or trust-building Stage 4 (Rebuilding): Clients may not need the same interventions that worked in earlier stages Why Coaches Struggle: Practitioners often dread seeing betrayal clients because their proven methods aren't working—but it's not the tools, it's the timing. Someone who's been betrayed isn't starting at the same place as other clients. The Waitlist Initiative A new waitlist has been created to connect people struggling with betrayal to properly certified coaches and practitioners. The response has been overwhelming, with heartbreaking stories of: PTSD symptoms 30 years post-betrayal Closed-off relationships due to family betrayals from decades ago Lives that "haven't been the same since" Understanding the Stages Stage 2: Shock and trauma—nervous system completely dysregulated Stage 3: Survival mode—functional but flat, no joy. This is where most people get stuck because: It feels better than the chaos of Stage 2 It's the "familiar known" Fear of the shakeup change would create Intentionally ignoring intuition due to lack of bandwidth The Stage 2-3 Loop: Many people bounce between shock/trauma and survival, like being thrown down a ravine, climbing up, then being thrown down again. Stage 4 & 5: Hopeful, growth-oriented, forward-moving—but most people don't even know these stages exist. Why People Stay Stuck Lack of awareness: They don't know Stage 4 and 5 exist Familiar vs. good: We choose the familiar known over the unfamiliar unknown, even when it's not serving us Fear of disruption: New boundaries and standing up for yourself creates a shakeup Bandwidth concerns: Mental, emotional, physical, or financial limitations Comparison trap: Stage 3 seems "good enough" compared to Stage 2 The Cost of Staying Stuck Post Betrayal Syndrome symptoms persist when you ignore your intuition and stay in Stage 3: Physical illnesses and conditions Mental and emotional symptoms Your body communicates through its weakest link Over 100,000 people tested show consistent symptom patterns The Reframe The Weight Loss Analogy: Two friends, both 30 pounds overweight and "fine." One loses the weight and transforms—feels amazing, confident, energized. The other declines help, saying "I'm okay." The Truth: If you knew for even a minute what Stage 5 felt like, you wouldn't waste another minute in Stage 3. The Path Forward Healing requires moving through all five stages with the right support and tools applied at the right time. The goal of the PBT Institute certification program is to get the Five Stages framework into as many qualified hands as possible—because it's not about one person, it's about every certified practitioner reaching everyone in their sphere. Most Common Betrayal Types From the waitlist responses: Family betrayal Partner betrayal Note: Early, unhealed betrayals (often in childhood or early relationships) frequently underlie later betrayal experiences—it's often not where you think it started. Bottom Line: Just because something is familiar doesn't mean it's good. There's something so much better waiting in Stages 4 and 5—but you have to move through the process deliberately and intentionally to get there. Tired of pool rules that don't add up? We peel back the layers on the industry's most persistent myths and replace them with chemistry you can trust. From the “acid column” idea to the belief that liquid chlorine always drives pH sky high, we show where the logic sounds right and why the science says otherwise. You'll learn how acid truly mixes on contact, why slugging can scar plaster and vinyl, and how to dose safely using circulation to your advantage. We also tackle the big one: “chlorine lock.” Chlorine isn't trapped; it's either free, combined, or used. The real driver of effectiveness is the free chlorine to cyanuric acid ratio. Using the 7.5% guideline, you can set targets that outpace algae, save on unnecessary algaecides and shock, and keep water clearer with fewer surprises. We talk testing too—why relying on old OTO “flash” habits keeps you in the dark, and how FAS-DPD reveals what's actually happening so you can correct fast. Finally, we clear up confusion around safe swim timing. That 24-hour wait after adding chlorine? Not a rule of nature. It's about how much you dosed, how well the water circulates, and where your CYA sits. Light dosing with proper CYA can be safe much sooner, while heavy shock may warrant patience. With muriatic acid, circulation and pH verification matter more than the smell—often making a 30–60 minute window reasonable for re-entry in large, balanced pools. Walk away with practical steps that protect surfaces, stabilize pH, and restore confidence in every service visit.• acid column method risks surface damage and does not target alkalinity• liquid chlorine raises pH briefly, then neutralizes as it oxidizes• cal hypo truly raises pH, liquid chlorine trends near neutral net effect• chlorine states: free, combined, and used chloride• no such thing as chlorine lock, just high CYA slowing chlorine• maintain free chlorine at ~7.5% of CYA for effectiveness• accurate testing beats OTO flash tests for FC and CC• safe swim timing depends on FC-to-CYA and circulation, not 24-hour rules•Send a textSupport the Pool Guy Podcast Show Sponsors! We've all been told to just be yourself. But psychologist and author Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic—Chief Innovation Officer at ManpowerGroup and professor at UCL and Columbia—says that's the worst advice you can take. Today we're sharing something special that was previously only available over on our Substack page, our exclusive live post-episode chat Mayim and Jonathan did with our special Substack community about the recent episode we did with Michael Singer, the renowned spiritual teacher and author of The Untethered Soul. While many enter 2026 with a "best year ever" mentality that can feel arbitrary or even off-putting, this discussion offers something more grounded: a simple and powerful mantra for when things go wrong—"I can handle this." How do we do that? We start by deconstructing the internal narratives that keep us in a reactive state. Mayim and Jonathan dive into the "most valuable sell" for anyone seeking peace: the realization that we don't need to "wake up" to a new reality, but rather stop putting ourselves back to sleep with our own "emotional garbage". But "I can handle this" is more than just a phrase; it's a way to influence our biology. Mayim explains that when we use our intellect to imagine something different, we are actually changing our physiology—altering our body's ability to heal, connect, and thrive. By leaning into this mantra, we stop the "animal part" of our brain from merely reacting to past programming and instead use our consciousness to navigate the world with choice. The live also explores: - The Myth of the Permanent High: Spiritual awakening is not a constant state of euphoria. It's about the "residue" you bring back from the mountaintop to handle the messy reality of traffic, technology fails, and human conflict. - The Sky Metaphor for Awareness: Peace and beauty are always available—like the sky—but we are often "unavailable" to notice them because we are fighting reality rather than acknowledging it. - Navigating the "Grit vs. Flow" Balance: A deep dive into the tension between the tenacity required to achieve goals and the spiritual wisdom required to read the "writing on the wall" when it's time to change course. - Micro-Deconstruction of Fear: Jonathan explains how to slow down a reactive moment to distinguish between a genuine lack of safety and a familiar "story" generated by past programming. - Acceptance as an Active Choice: How to move beyond "ignoring" or "suppressing" difficult feelings and instead learning to take the "signs of resistance" as vital information. This is a conversation about the intersection of neurobiology and ancient wisdom, providing a toolkit for anyone ready to stop fighting the universe and start handling whatever 2026 brings. You're taking 600 IU of vitamin D.Your labs say “normal.”But you could still be deficient. In this episode, Ben reveals why the official vitamin D recommendations were based on preventing rickets, not optimizing immunity, metabolism, muscle, or brain health. Independent researchers reanalyzed the original RDA data and found the required intake for adequacy was dramatically higher — yet the guidelines barely changed. Vitamin D is not just a vitamin. It functions like a steroid hormone and impacts: Immune regulation Inflammation control Insulin sensitivity Muscle protein synthesis Brain function Low vitamin D is strongly associated with insulin resistance, and since 93% of Americans are insulin resistant, this could be a massive blind spot. Ben also explains: Why “normal” lab ranges may still mean deficiency Why optimal levels should be above 60 ng/mL How obesity lowers circulating vitamin D Why magnesium and vitamin K2 are required for proper activation Why toxicity fears are overblown compared to widespread insufficiency You'll also learn the simple 3-step plan to optimize vitamin D safely: Smart midday sun exposure Intelligent supplementation with D3 + K2 + magnesium Regular testing and cofactor support If you're over 45, insulin resistant, or struggling with stubborn inflammation, this episode could be a game changer. You don't have a weak immune system. You may just have an under-supported one.
