We've been really honing in on the intent-centric future with regards to chain abstraction in recent podcasts, as its something we are particularly excited for and believe in. One of the interesting aspects of the chain abstracted stack is that it requires a ton of collaboration amongst different players to fulfill the endgame of a smooth UX with chain agnosticism. Today, we're taking a closer look into this landscape with an in-person interview in Singapore. Andy sat down with Arjun Bhuptani to discuss Everclear, a protocol designed to tackle one of the most pressing challenges in solving and intents—rebalancing liquidity efficiently across multiple chains. In the early days of Connext, Arjun realized this issue of helping solvers manage inventory was going to become a pressing one in the future. As he grew belief in the thesis that capital rebalancing and liquidity flow are major bottlenecks, especially when it comes to smaller, niche (or long-tail) chains, he made the tough choice to reposition to build Everclear. In this piece, we're going to break down Everclear's approach to solving this problem through intent-based bridging, a concept that's gradually taking center stage in the crypto space. Instead of relying on the traditional, expensive bridging models that involve validator sets or multisigs, Everclear uses intents—enabling fast, trustless atomic swaps between chains while keeping fees low and security intact, via offchain market makers. We'll also be covering Everclear's unique approach to netting liquidity across chains, akin to something like Visa's netting mechanism. Plus, we'll touch on the growing relevance of long-tail chains and how Everclear's rebalancing system could play a pivotal role in expanding liquidity access to smaller, more specialized ecosystems. Finally, at the end we'll touch on the new vote bonding token model for Everclear, and why they settled on this economic model. Lets dive in. Everclear, formerly known as Connext, recently launched with a fresh focus as the Clearing Layer aiming to solve the ever-present modular fragmentation problem. Today we talked with Arjun Bhuptani, about their history coining the term "chain abstraction", building an intents-based bridge, and now working to collaborate with the intents and solver community. With Everclear, they are focusing on the clearing layer and chain abstraction stack. We discussed the critical challenges of liquidity management for intent protocols and solvers and how to solve these by enabling solvers to net out their flows between chains, reducing the need for frequent rebalancing and lower interoperability costs. This approach not only makes it easier for solvers to operate across multiple chains but also addresses the centralization risks present in the solver landscape. This centralization and single-solver dominance is something we've been thinking about at The Rollup so it was nice to hear Arjun's POV on handling this situation. Overall, we've seen the market for intent-based protocols and solvers expand dramatically, and Everclear's clearing layer is designed to thrive in this landscape. But, can they do what they set out to and get the "buy-in" from the right players? We asked Arjun and he answered this, and the centralization question with ease. The other big issue we brought up is the extensibility problem faced by many interoperability protocols, where they cannot scale to 'infinite' separate environments because of their infra constraints...we also asked Arjun how Everclear is able to scale as the number of chains grows. Lots of good tidbits. Currently, the project is live on testnet, with plans to finalize their dutch auction system for pricing and netting. The team is targeting a full launch in Q3, incorporating ongoing developments and feedback. Enjoy this somewhat technical dive into the landscape of cross-chain intents and interoperability. On episode 397 of the BlockHash Podcast, Co-founder Arjun Bhuptani joins Brandon Zemp to talk about Connext and how they are building the HTTP of Web3, making interactions similar to that in Web2. Everclear (formerly Connext) is the industry's first clearing layer, coordinating the global settlement of liquidity between chains, solving fragmentation for modular blockchains. As the foundation of the Chain Abstraction stack, it powers optimal liquidity for intent protocols & solvers. This cuts the cost & complexity of rebalancing solver liquidity by up to 10x. Now live on testnet, Everclear arrives at exactly when the industry most needs a universal solution to resolve the worsening fragmentation issues plaguing the blockchain ecosystem.

On the show today, we have Arjun Bhuptani, founder of Connext. Connext is an interoperability network, which is going to market with NXTP, a non-custodial cross-chain protocol. Connext is trustless, meaning there is no trust placed in external validators outside 2 native blockchains where a cross-chain transaction is occurring. Connext makes use of ‘routers', which are nodes that facilitate cross-chain transfers and hold liquidity of different assets on multiple chains. If a user wants to move from Chain A to Chain B, they would signal their desired route to Connext network. Connext then broadcasts a user's desired route across chains for routers to submit the best price they can give the user (like Uber). A user would then receive the cheapest route possible to transfer their assets across chains, from routers that have the most available liquidity and most competitive fees. We talk to Arjun about the trustlessness nature of Connext, how it locally verifies transactions versus other possible models, how routers facilitate transfers, the intricate economics of Connext, how Connext ecosystem actors interact with each other, plus so much more.
In this recorded live conversation crypto heavyweight Lasse Clausen joined Niko Woischnik for an important fireside conversation, followed by a live Q&A with questions from the audience. The cryptospace has developed exponentially in only a few, but monumental, years. Important developments in the crypto economy are forever changing so it's important to constantly keep in the know… including who the front-runner is in the race to decentralise the world.Lasse is the founding partner of 1kx, an early-stage token fund with a mission to be the most founder-friendly and helpful source of early-stage capital for tokenised projects. He started out as a software entrepreneur and through exploring, curiosity and making an early leap from Bitcoin to Ethereum, he's a key player in the crypto industry.1kx has made multiple investments in soon-to-be key players, for instance, NIFTEX raised $500k Seed Round led by 1kx and more recently Nym (valued at $6m) and Connext (valued at $12m).//Looking to level up or enter a new field? Tim Mobley learned a valuable life lesson at US Army Ranger School. “I had the choice to take one more step or fall over,” he said. And life as an entrepreneur is much the same way. In 2008 when Mobley's boss handed him an outsourcing book, saying “Read this and do something,” that meant India. So Mobley did, and in the process learned all of the tools he would need to launch a company of his own. In the Spotlight Tim Mobley is the Founder and President of Connext Global Solutions, a business process outsourcing company located in Honolulu. BPO is broadly defined as contracting the operations and responsibilities for a certain process to a third-party service provider. Mobley is a 1993 graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point. He branched Medical Services upon graduation, only to be assigned to an Infantry Battalion and sent to Ranger School. An economist at heart and interested in business, Mobley long planned for business school and attended Harvard. Not to be left out, Mobley's wife decided to attend business school too, and got accepted first! An Army connection invited Mobley to Hawaii to work in hospital management, and he and his wife have lived there ever since. Business Process Outsourcing Mobley founded Connext Global Solutions in 2014 with a partner, personal savings and one customer. Today that business has grown to 170 employees and is continuing to expand. Connext sources talent in the Philippines and focuses on staff augmentation for clients primarily in the medical field. The company has plans to expand from Hawaii to offer services in the contiguous forty states. “The interest that consumers have in understanding where and how their food was grown is only going to increase.”Wendelyn Jones (30:51-31:01) In 2017, Dow Chemical and DuPont Chemical merged with the intent of spinning out into three different companies. Its Agriculture Division forms a company known as Corteva Agriscience with a purpose to, “enrich the lives of those who produce and those who consume, ensuring progress for generations to come.” Dr. Wendelyn Jones is the Global Leader of Food Chain and Brand Protection at Corteva Agriscience. Lori was privileged to meet her at the Produce for Better Health Foundation Conference and found her to be a compelling presence who exemplifies leadership in action. “I'm going to be a better steward of agriculture with what I've learned from Wendelyn, carrying that forward as we educate consumers on all of their top questions and inquiries as it relates to agriculture and fresh produce.” -Lori Taylor (36:16-36:26) While the farmer is Corteva's main customer, they understand that they need to enrich the lives of the consumer as well as the farmer. While they continue to do the work they've traditionally done as it applies to the farm, the products that come out of the farm in the harvest of fruits and vegetables is also important to them. Farming is ultimately about keeping people healthy, active, and well-fed, and Corteva plays a vital role in this end goal. In addition to supplying the farmer with seeds, Corteva also supplies crop protection in the forms of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides - all important tools for the farmer in producing nutritious, pest-free fruits and vegetables. The farmer strategically applies these to both organic and conventional crops to protect them from insects, weeds, and diseases. Corteva's customer driven, global business service, Connext, links its seeds and crop protection products to farmers, food processors, food retailers, and ultimately, consumers. It provides leadership throughout the food supply chain to collaborate the work of the farmers, food processors, and retailers to meet the changing tastes and trends of the consumers. Authenticating Products to Prevent Counterfeit and Illegal Products About 10% of the seeds and crop protection products sold worldwide are fake, impacting sustainable development around the world and creating a serious threat to consumers. Corteva is committed to combating and stopping this criminal activity. Authentic products go through intensive testing and regulatory evaluations before they are placed on the market, ensuring that the start of our food - the seeds that farmers plant and the care they give those plants - is genuine and authentic. Counterfeit products don't go through any of this testing, resulting in products that cause harm to the environment, to water, to food, and to farmer yield. Illegal products cost everyone billions of dollars. Putting a stop to criminal activity requires a joint effort. All the players in the food and ag space need to be committed to buying and using only authentic products. Blockchain is quickly becoming the standard in this effort. Blockchain is a list of digital records contained within a QR code or other kind of label tag which contains transaction data. When food processors, retailers, and consumers scan this code from a label on a product, they can trace that fruit or vegetable all the way back through the distribution channel and know what seeds and crop protection products the farmer used to produce it. “We play a role in helping support the consumer availability of the needed quality, nutrition, and safety.” - Wendelyn Jones (17:15-17:26) If you want to find out more about Corteva, visit their website and follow them on Facebook and Twitter. If you would like to connect with Dr. Wendelyn Jones on LinkedIn, feel free to reach out to her. Wendelyn looks forward to accepting connections through The Produce Moms and to continuing to work with Lori in helping to drive change in food and agriculture. Arjun Bhuptani, founder of Connext talks about the future of blockchain scaling, payments and how each of us has a different way of learning. Connext builds technology that helps Ethereum projects enable low-cost, near-instant transactions for their users. Their virtual state channel technology is most useful for companies that utilize micropayments, decentralized exchange, or voting as a part of their product. Their ultimate goal is to help blockchain companies scale to millions of concurrent users
On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Dr. Petty, and Erica Amatori sit down with Arjun Bhuptani, CEO and Co-Founder of Connext. Connext builds and maintains scalability solutions for crypto payments. One of their first major PoCs for the tech they're working on is called "MoneyShot". It's a service to quickly send micro-payments on the Ethereum network by utilizing what are called "state channels". We discuss the implications of this tech for developers, and lessons Arjun's team has picked up finding the right tools devs need to scale their DApps.
