As Super Bowl LX rolls into Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium, Jake Rockatansky and Travis View are joined by sports writer Arif Hasan (Wide Left newsletter) to dig into one of the NFL's strangest modern fan obsessions: the idea that the San Francisco 49ers are cursed by an electrical substation. Over the last decade the Niners have become infamous for suffering from brutal, momentum-killing injuries. This has fueled endless theories about potential reasons for the medical incidents that are causing heartburn among football fans in the Bay Area. Is it turf, training, recruiting strategy, bad luck, or something else? One rumor has dominated the online discourse: the idea that the Northern Receiving Station, right next to where the pro athletes train and play, is bathing players in “EMF” and making them more injury-prone. We trace how the theory travelled from locker room chatter, to online content creators, to a “board-certified quantum biology practitioner” until it finally had to be addressed by the 49ers administration and NFL's chief medical officer. This is despite the fact that the idea doesn't have any empirical support and it doesn't even make sense upon examination of the timeline of the substation. From a mysterious metal fragment found beneath a hovering craft in Sweden to an "impossible" iron nugget that defied every known law of physics, these are the real physical objects that UFOs left behind — and scientists still can't explain them.IN THIS EPISODE: In 1949, the dark and twisted romance of Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck, the infamous Lonely Hearts Killers, shocked the nation. Fueled by obsession and deceit, their deadly love story left a trail of victims—and a haunting legacy of betrayal and murder. (Mad Love: The Lonely Hearts Killers) *** In the shadows of Ottawa's lumber industry, Joseph Currier's rise from ambitious teenager to wealthy businessman was matched only by the mysterious tragedies that followed him - including the death of his young bride in a mill accident that some say wasn't quite what it seemed. Perhaps her ghost has something to say about it. (Haunting of Watson's Mill) *** Awakening to find yourself paralyzed, you sense a sinister presence in the darkness, its weight pressing down as your lungs gasp for air. Helpless and terrified, you realize the nightmare has only just begun. You're in the presence of a Sleep Demon. (Between Dreams and Demons) *** "From ghostly serenades at Meridian's Grand Opera House to the chilling specter of Stuckey pacing his deadly bridge, Mississippi's haunted locales are teeming with restless spirits and dark legends. Whether it's playful children in a graveyard or vengeful apparitions at the McRaven House, each site promises an encounter with the otherworldly. (Haunted Mississippi) *** When strange objects fall from mysterious lights in the sky, junior UFO researcher Sarah Martinez must investigate five incredible cases where aliens might have left behind actual pieces of their spacecraft. As she digs deeper into each mysterious discovery, she realizes these aren't just stories of lights in the sky – these are cases where someone found something they could hold in their hands. Host Casey Dreier, chief of space policy at The Planetary Society, is joined by Jack Kiraly, the Society’s director of government relations, for a deep dive into how NASA authorization bills work, how they differ from appropriations, and why they can have decades-long consequences for science missions, human spaceflight, and planetary defense. Can goal attainment really be effortless? Yes! How? I'm sharing a science backed and real life proven strategy to, yes, attain your goals effortlessly with environment modification. Last week I told you to write everything down. Now what?  Your Brain On Paper If you were a good lil student, you have started to write down all of your interruptive thoughts. Stop trying to remember everything, just write it down! Now you have all of these thoughts on paper, your brain on paper and you may be overwhelmed.  The next step, is to decide can it wait till Sunday? If so, pop that baby into the Sunday Basket® for safe keeping until it can't wait. If not, add it to your to do list for the day. If you find you are always saying yes it can wait, but you don't have a lot of motivation to get it accomplished, it's ok to toss it. Our goals, energy, money, where we live, stage of family life, our house, and other factors change projects we want to do. You aren't going to get it all done because you aren't getting it all done now. Let yourself off the hook for projects you are not longer interested in finishing.  Evolution of Systems Our families are ever changing and I was reminded of this during my grand-turnity. Abby had her baby and I am home more helping to take care of her and my grandsons. I don't cook. But I do make Thanksgiving dinner. I thought it would be nice  to make until Greg pointed out that had I just asked Greg to do it, he would have. I abdicated cooking many years ago. Greg is used to cooking and didn't appreciate me taking up space in the fridge while the turkey defrosted. You see, back in the day saving money was the goal. My cooking and grocery shopping "reality" is from those days but our family has changed. I picked up a couple of turkeys while they were cheap around Thanksgiving knowing I'd be home after Abby had the baby. But I don't grocery shop or cook anymore. I could have saved a lot of my time and money had I just let Greg do it if  I had just thought about today's reality of my family dynamics and roles. Ok the next thing to consider is your environment. First, do you still need the blender on the counter? You know it's not about the actual blender, it's just an appliance or thing you may have on the counter that you are no longer using. Smoothies may have been an everyday thing that is no longer. I moved ours to the basement, sometimes I forget, I should just pop a lil note inside the cupboard to remind me. I mean, no one is looking in my cupboards. Is your environment supporting your current goals? Could you modify your environment to better support your goals?  Decluttering and Organizing Surfaces Thoughts I realized when I wanted to start adding collagen to my coffee that my environment was not set up to support my goals. I had about 9 steps to make my coffee, I'd get to my car and realize I had forgotten the collagen.  If you are trying to lose weight, remove the cookies and put fruit in that same place. You can't eat what is not in your house. And you can't rely solely on willpower. AND it signals cues to your brain about your new goals. Science shows that when your environment is modified you can attain your goals effortlessly. As you realize what you want to modify you will need to declutter and organize that space.  The Productive Home Solution may bring light to spaces you want to modify and it will walk you through the decluttering and functionality of that space. There is a caveat here. You will have more success if you have the foundation of the Sunday Basket® established because you will already be in the habit of writing down interruptive thoughts. I went through the thought process of setting up a coffee station. In moving things around, it brought to light the cup/bottle situation for my grandsons. I wrote things down and will take action on a Sunday. The time you spend modifying your spaces to match your goals will give back time to your future self. Then the systems you put in place will simply need to be maintained. The synergy between The Sunday Basket and The Productive Home Solution will have you saving time, cognitively offloading, gaining support for your goals and making better choices too! Is Dr. Mike IGNORING SCIENCE ON PURPOSE!? Dr. Joel "Gator" Warsh joins Brian Nichols to reveal the uncomfortable truth about childhood vaccines and why the collapse of public health trust is happening right now. We dive deep into the data that mainstream influencers like Dr. Mike ignore, specifically regarding the "one-size-fits-all" CDC schedule and the lack of studies on vaccinated vs. unvaccinated children. Dr. Gator explains why the medical establishment's refusal to debate—or even acknowledge—valid parental concerns about side effects and the sheer volume of shots is driving families away from modern medicine entirely. We expose the reality of informed consent and the financial incentives keeping the system broken. You need to hear this blueprint for navigating your child's health without fear or coercion. Chris sadly passed away a few years ago from this posting in 2026.This week we talk about the Ark of the Covenant with Christopher Jordan. Chris has written a number of books on what he calls The Ancient Solar Premise. Chris' latest book, The Ark of the Covenant Operations Manual, talks about what the ark really was, and how the miracles ascribed to it were performed.Christopher Jordan was born in London and studied Chemical Physics at Sussex University, under the guidance of Sir Harold Kroto. He played a part in manually analyzing the early data from the microwave telescopes, eventually identifying an alcohol in interstellar gas clouds. These tasks were being automated by computers, which were doing the job better and faster. During a short spell on the accounting ladder, the same was noted within the financial sector. Chris Jordan surfed this wave of computer growth by developing small and large data systems for national food and beverage companies. Eventually, managing a national software department after stints as a programmer, business analyst and project manager.During this period he became intrigued with some of the unanswered questions surrounding nature's development process. After many years of study some concepts were crossed over between the computing and biological arenas. This led to some novel computer systems that literally built themselves around the databases to which they were aimed. This software was the center piece of a computer company set up by a few partners and himself. Several papers on systems analysis and design were published during this time in specialist magazines.Whilst running this company, further research was carried out modeling non-linear reaction diffusion systems on the surfaces of cells and groups of cells. This led to his seminal work on the nature of morphological determination and the role cell adhesion molecules played within the scheme. This in turn led to some unique experiments in the field of developmental biology. The general framework for development was published in Thailand during a three year sabbatical. The author started visiting the ancient sites of Asia during this period. Whilst he had previously been a visitor to the European and Egyptian sites, the common facets of the cultures began to emerge from all this travel. Despite a two year interlude managing the IT for a global spirits company in ex Eastern bloc countries, the interest in the ancient past continued. Specifically, the desire to make sense of all of these similar religious sites, tools and unexplained curios. Any scientist is taught that it is from the quirky inexplicable areas that new ideas evolve. A simple paradigm that extends further is deemed more elegant than a restrictive complex alternative. This is where the site narrative that makes up the Secrets of the Sun Sects stems from. This was coupled with the faulty parabolic mirror theories that surround these same cultures. The math that shows how easy it was for the ancient craftsmen to build the mirrors and how powerful they were, was carried out over thirty years ago. Ironically, this was the first thing the author failed to publish as a teenager. At the time, it was just a table, which a child thought was missing from the classroom texts. Fortuitously, it was very useful in proving that spherical surfaces make good Burning Mirrors for all manner of applications. From these two strands the full scope of the use of solar technology in the ancient world was built up. He is currently promoting the use of solar technologies in the developing countries of Asia.Check Out his website: www.secretsofthesunsects.wordpress.com Hosted on Acast. Through his decades of work in the brewing industry, many spent in R&D and quality at Sierra Nevada, Tom Nielsen has played a critical role in getting craft beer a seat at the broader brewing table. While industry advocacy groups were once dominated by macro brewers pursuing their own narrow goals, Nielsen (and a cohort of craft contemporaries) helped change the bigger conversation, connect ingredient producers and processors with brewer end users, and usher in a new golden age for hops flavor and aroma as well as malting-barley quality. Now Nielsen is tackling a new challenge—scaling down while maintaining the same rigorous approach to quality—as he builds the brewing program for the forthcoming Emberside Brewery in his home state of New Jersey. In this episode, Nielsen discusses: the development of the innovation process at Sierra Nevada perfecting Pale Ale and how the brewery prioritized R&D factors that improve packaged beer stability evaluating quality in crystal malts testing malt quality and consistency with equipment such as the farinator moving beyond visual inspection for barley and hops improving malt flavor with new (and old) barley varieties advances in pelletizing that retain more hop punch blending science, sensory, and a bit of art to achieve great beer And more. We break down why sustainability has nothing to do with being “woke” or environmental politics and everything to do with building a business that can survive uncertainty, leadership changes, labor shortages, pandemics, and economic chaos. Belen explains how fast growth without systems, culture, policies, and risk planning eventually leads to burnout, furloughs, and failure, and why slowing down strategically actually creates more money over a longer runway. This conversation challenged how I think about growth, risk, and long-term success, and it will do the same for any founder who wants to build something that truly lasts. How Can Christians Turn Groans into Growth By Responding to Ecological Grief?   In this episode of the Good Faith Podcast, host Curtis Chang talks with Dr. Jonathan Moo, a decorated professor of both the New Testament and Environmental Studies, about why Christian creation care belongs at the center of discipleship. Drawing from Romans 8, Colossians 1, and Genesis 1–2, Moo connects biblical hope for new creation with practical action on climate change, stewardship, and loving our neighbors by caring for the places they depend on and enjoy. The conversation explores how faith and science can work together, why "dominion" looks like Christ-shaped service, and how small, local projects—from Uganda to Texas—offer tangible models of environmental renewal. Dr. Moo offers us a bigger vision of human flourishing, plus concrete next steps for Christians and churches to live joyfully and faithfully in God's world.   05:04 - How Do Jonathan Moo's Academic and Faith and Love for Creation Intersect? 07:51 - Romans 8 and Lament for Creation 17:38 - Salvation, Resurrection, and the Earth 22:08 - Practical Examples of Creation Care 27:01 - Motivating People To Move From Enjoying Nature To Actively Caring For It 31:24 - How Do We Address Interpretations of "Dominion"? 36:32 - Jesus as Model for Dominion 39:34 - Understanding Barriers Between Evangelicals and Science  47:16 - Engaging with Skeptics and Loved Ones 53:25 - Advice for Skeptics  55:11 - Practical Steps for the Environmentally Concerned   Episode Companion: Christians and Climate Change Guide 2   Sign up for the Good Faith Newsletter   Learn more about George Fox Talks     Mentioned In This Episode: Tools, Websites, and Organizations A Rocha USA Bull Creek Restoration Project Climate Stewards USA   Books and Authors Learn more about Aldo Leopold Learn more about Alister McGrath Learn more about Evelyn Waugh Learn more about Wendell Berry Debra Rienstra's Refugia Faith: Seeking Hidden Shelters, Ordinary Wonders, and the Healing of the Earth   Biblical Passages Colossians 1:15-20 (ESV) Romans 8 (ESV) Genesis 1 and 2 (ESV) Mark 12:30-31 (ESV)   Concepts and Ideas Carbon Calculator (use for offsets) Bio Sand Filters No Till Agriculture Mulching and Crop Rotation   More From Dr. Jonathan Moo: Jonathan & Douglas Moo's Creation Care: A Biblical Theology of the Natural World (Biblical Theology for Life) More about Dr. Moo: Whitworth professor acts as a wilderness guide A reminder of Dr. Moo's A.W.A.K.E. acronym   Follow Us: Good Faith on Instagram Good Faith on X (formerly Twitter) Good Faith on Facebook   The Good Faith Podcast is a production of a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan organization that does not engage in any political campaign activity to support or oppose any candidate for public office. Due to recent developments related to the Epstein Files and the recent public announcement of Sarah McCarthy, author of Blue Butterly, we have decided to publish the episode again. What if Jeffrey Epstein's secret wasn't just sex, but science? In her explosive new book Blue Butterfly: Inside the Diary of an Epstein Survivor, investigative author Sarah McCarthy exposes the hidden story the media refused to tell. Drawing from Juliette Bryant's secret diary, McCarthy reveals a chilling world where elite scientists, intelligence agencies, and global leaders converged—using victims not only for blackmail, but for covert experiments in eugenics, cloning, and mind control. In this episode of Strange Planet, Richard Syrett sits down with McCarthy to crack open the darkest secret of our age: Epstein as prototype for elite power. GUEST: Sarah McCarthy is a South African-born investigative author who exposes the covert alliances between global elites, intelligence agencies, and controversial science. A former top copywriter for brands like Ogilvy & Mather and Burberry, she now applies her skills to uncovering hidden power structures. Her latest book, Blue Butterfly: Inside the Diary of an Epstein Survivor, reveals how Jeffrey Epstein's operation extended far beyond sex trafficking—into eugenics, cloning, and mind-control experimentation disguised as philanthropy. We also unpack why “calories in, calories out” is both true in principle and often misunderstood in practice, how ultra-processed foods can drive overeating, and what GLP-1 medications may be changing in appetite biology. The episode also touches on Dr. Hall's departure from a 21-year career at the NIH, following the censorship of his team's findings on ultra-processed foods when they didn't align with preferred narratives—an experience he describes as chilling for scientific communication. Finally, we explore the practical challenges of doing high-quality nutrition research, why confident opinions can outpace the data, and what it will take to better understand—and ultimately prevent—diet-related chronic disease. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeWhy metabolism isn't “broken” — and why larger bodies burn more calories at restWhat the Biggest Loser study actually revealed about weight loss and regainWhy exercise doesn't “save” your metabolism during extreme dietingHow ultraprocessed foods change how much people eat — without acting like addictive drugsWhy calories in vs. calories is often misunderstood in practiceHow genetics and environment interact to shape body weightWhat GLP-1 drugs are really doing — and what they don't fixWhy nutrition science is underfunded, politicized, and desperately neededChapters(00:00) - Kevin Hall, PhD, Metabolism Researcher(01:01) - Dr. Hall on the Ready State Podcast(04:10) - Misconceptions About Metabolism(04:54) - The Biggest Loser Study & Metabolism Influence(13:09) - Challenges in Nutrition Research(19:10) - Metabolism's Role in Weight Loss(22:13) - Vitality Blueprint: Importance of Blood Work(25:45) - Calories In, Calories Out: Simplistic View?(30:45) - Understanding GLP-1 Agonists(32:20) - The Food Environment's Impact(36:05) - Ultra-Processed Foods and Caloric Intake(38:02) - The Complexity of Obesity(41:40) - Solutions for Our Food System(48:23) - Causes of Brain Fog(49:34) - Element: Nutritional Insights(51:39) - RFK Jr. Discussion(01:01:40) - Politics' Influence on Science(01:04:35) - Leaders in Nutrition Science(01:06:48) - Can Weight Loss Be Achieved?(01:08:10) - Universal Diets: Myth or Reality?(01:12:35) - Why Doritos Lead to Overeating(01:13:21) - Understanding Visceral Fat(01:14:04) - Momentous: Nutritional Products(01:20:25) - Book/TV Show/Music Recommendations(01:21:11) - Connecting with Dr. Hall(01:21:52) - OutroConnect with KevinWebsite | Bluesky | X | LinkedInBook: Food Intelligence: The Science of How Food Both Nourishes and Harms UsCheck out The Biggest Loser Study2019 Study: Ultra-Processed Diets Cause Excess Calorie Intake and Weight GainHuge thanks to our sponsors, Vitality, Momentous, and LMNT.
