Danny Rensch went from being weaponized as a chess prodigy by a cult to co-founding Chess.com — detailed on part two of this two-part episode. (Find part one here!)Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1290What We Discuss with Danny Rensch:Chess.com grew from a bootstrapped startup — laughed out of investor rooms — into a unicorn by building a chess creator economy and content ecosystem years before the pandemic boom, capturing 99% of chess's explosive growth when The Queen's Gambit and COVID lockdowns sent 400,000 new members flooding in per day.Catching cheaters in chess is a high-stakes statistical science. Chess.com employs 30 full-time specialists, from research scientists to in-house detectives, who use AI-driven algorithms to detect engine-assisted play, acting only when evidence would hold up in court rather than in the court of public opinion. The digital revolution in chess has dramatically compressed the learning curve. Kids now grow up playing against Magnus Carlsen and top grandmasters online, producing prodigies like a 12-year-old Argentine dubbed "the Messi of chess" who may break the youngest grandmaster record in history.Chess.com's public stance against Russia after the Ukraine invasion landed Danny Rensch on a dark web hit list, and years of closing cheaters' accounts have brought direct threats — including one player who tracked his tournament locations and emailed that he'd feel a gun behind his neck.Danny's most powerful insight is that you can redefine your relationship with your past. Forgiveness isn't rewriting what happened, it's freeing yourself from it, and believing "everything happens for a reason" becomes actionable when you realize you get to choose the reason and reclaim the power over your own story. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps! Have you stopped to consider the number of lies Democrats tell themselves? It's enormous.I don't know how they live themselves, except to say they're scared to leave the cult.Blatant lies.Covid. Vaccine effectiveness. Masks. Etc.Guns. Border policy. 2020 election. 2022 midterms. J6.The strangest thing about the hypothetical was not the shouting. It was the silence. At precisely midnight, something shifted. No executive order. No Supreme Court ruling. No viral hashtag. Just an inexplicable civic condition: every Democrat in America, from city council to Capitol Hill, suddenly lost the ability to lie.Not exaggerate. Not deflect. Not rebrand. Lie.By sunrise, the cable news studios looked like aquariums after someone forgot to oxygenate the tank. Pundits opened their mouths with the usual choreography, but what came out was unfiltered oxygen. Raw. Bracing. Occasionally fatal to reputations. The first hearings convened before breakfast.A senior Democrat, long fond of describing January 6 as an existential threat on par with Pearl Harbor and 9/11, leaned toward the microphone and admitted that while the riot was disgraceful, the apocalyptic rhetoric proved politically invaluable. It unified a fractured caucus. It redirected scrutiny away from pandemic policy failures. It froze debate. “Most secure election in history,” another repeated, before clarifying that security and public confidence are not synonyms, particularly after states rewrote voting procedures under emergency authority while private actors poured hundreds of millions into local election administration. He even cited the now well documented “Zuckerberg grants,” the $419 million channeled through the Center for Tech and Civic Life, a figure reported widely in 2021 and dissected in state legislatures thereafter. What had once been framed as “philanthropy” was now described, under duress of honesty, as asymmetrical infrastructure. Legal, perhaps. Neutral, not exactly. Then the conversation pivoted to COVID.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode Summary: Trials and crises are inevitable. Jesus warned us they would come. While we cannot choose the trials we face, we can choose how we respond to them and look at them as opportunities to grow and learn more about God. In this episode of Your Hope-Filled Perspective, I am joined by Lynne Rienstra, author of the inspiring book Sacred Refuge: Finding Unexpected Shelter in Your Crisis. Lynne shares how her personal life crisis became a gateway to discovering God’s indestructible shelter. Through her book, she introduces women to a sacred sisterhood that unites modern and biblical stories of overcoming fear, loss, debt, and loneliness. Together, we explore how God’s love and compassion provide a soul-safe refuge, even in the midst of the most difficult challenges. Quotables from the episode: When COVID hit and like a lot of people, I just kind of went under fear. And after a week of not sleeping well, not eating well, kind of like what's happening and what's coming, I said, "This is crazy. "I am a blood bought and beloved child of the living God. "I am not going to let the enemy have any more time in my headspace or my spirit. And it was a time to boot him out and say, “you're done. I will not live in fear.” The Bible actually says, do not fear 365 times, right? One for every day of the year. And that was over. And then I started realizing if I'm dealing with fear, maybe other women are dealing with fear and struggling to find this safe refuge in who God is for us. This is an invitation, as you mentioned, for women to come out of hiding, which is what fear, of course, puts us in, and into a soul -safe place that Jesus has built for us in the gospel. He is so good and so powerful he can actually use the worst of circumstances for our good, which is to draw us to himself and to make us more like Jesus. I've learned how to do this over the years, to identify his lies. And then because he's a liar and the father of lies, you flip them and you begin to hear in scripture and in the voice of the Lord, the truth. So, all three persons of the Trinity have something very specific to tell me about who I am. And that means that his Father's heart is delighted in us. That's the invitation to take off the masks. That's the freedom that Jesus has purchased for us. Crisis comes with a gift. It's the gift nobody wants. I've had seasons of my life as a Christian speaker, as a pastor's wife, as a leader, all those things, where I'm just like, you know, I just want to veg out. I just want to take three hours and binge something on Netflix, or I just want to eat that half thing, a half carton of ice cream, or I just, I want to check out. And I call those my other lovers, the things I go to apart from Jesus, who is our first love, Revelation tells us, right? - Yes. - When we turn to those other lovers over anything, overeating, over drinking, working, busy -ness can be another lover. Scripture References: Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Isaiah 61:10 “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 49:16 “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…” Psalm 91:1-16 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague. He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the calamity that destroys at noon. Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you. You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD your dwelling—my refuge, the Most High—no evil will befall you, no plague will approach your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and cobra; you will trample the young lion and serpent. “Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” Recommended Resources: Sacred Refuge: Finding Unexpected Shelter in Your Crisis by Lynne Rienstra Sacred Scars: Resting in God’s Promise That Your Past Is Not Wasted by Dr. Michelle Bengtson The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises from God to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety’s Grip Free Study Guide Free PDF Resource: How to Fight Fearful/Anxious Thoughts and Win Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Hope Prevails Bible Study by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Free Webinar: Help for When You’re Feeling Blue Social Media Links for Host and Guest: Connect with Lynne Rienstra: Website / Instagram Connect with Dr. Bengtson: Order Book Sacred Scars / Order Book The Hem of His Garment / Order Book Today is Going to be a Good Day / Order Book Breaking Anxiety’s Grip / Order Book Hope Prevails / Website / Blog / Facebook / Twitter (@DrMBengtson) / LinkedIn / Instagram / Pinterest / YouTube / Podcast on Apple Guest: Lynne Rienstra serves Samaritan’s Purse as a regional director and has seen crises up close through her travels. Something Big Is Happening — And Experience Strategists Need a Point of View on AI

    Experience Strategy Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 26, 2026 24:35

The Experience Strategy Podcast | substack.theexperiencestrategist.com A post on X went viral — 38,000 reshares, 83 million reads. Written by respected AI voice Matt Schumer, it opens with a gut-punch analogy: think back to February 2020. Most of us weren't paying attention to a virus spreading overseas. Then in three weeks, everything changed. Schumer's argument is that we are in a similar "this seems overblown" phase right now — except what's coming is bigger than COVID. Dave, Joe, and Aransas dig into the article, push back where it's overblown, and land on what experience strategists actually need to do about it. What's in This Episode The article's core argument. AI isn't just getting better — it's getting faster, more capable at complex tasks, and increasingly independent of human involvement. The latest models are now building and debugging the next version of themselves. Schumer's point: no matter how complex or human your job feels, it's getting closer to AI's reach by the millisecond, not the minute. What Schumer says to do about it — and the team's reaction: Use AI seriously. Don't dabble. Understand what it can actually do. Get your financial house in order. This isn't the time to be overextended. Lean into what's hardest to replace. Anything you do primarily on a screen is likely a 1–2 year exposure. Rethink what you're telling your kids. Their dreams just got closer — and the path there looks different. Get in the habit of adapting now, not when you're forced to. Joe's take: good prescription, overblown description. AI is a tool, and no technology in history has eliminated more jobs than it created. The real question is mindset: executives who come to AI asking "how do I automate people out?" will find exactly that. Executives who ask "how do I augment my people?" will find something much more powerful in the human-plus-AI combination. The disruption, as with all disruptive innovation, starts at the bottom of the value chain and moves up — which means you need to be working above it. The echo chamber problem. Joe raises a concern that's already documented: AI increasingly trains on AI output, creating what researchers are calling model collapse — a cyclical echo chamber where biases get replicated and amplified rather than corrected. The telephone game at civilizational scale. Aransas connects this to the show Pluribus, which she found boring as a narrative but compelling as a metaphor for hive-mind homogenization. What experience strategists specifically need right now — three points from Dave: Provenance. As AI commoditizes outputs, original sources become more valuable, not less. If you're building consumer insights without actually talking to consumers, you're already three steps from provenance. The strategists who can signal authentic, original sourcing will be disproportionately valuable. Cross-disciplinary thinking. Experience strategists have been operating too narrowly — personas, journey maps, CX mechanics. AI gives you superpowers across marketing, planning, and adjacent disciplines. Use them. Going deeper on the same narrow lane is the wrong direction. A strategic point of view. Not an opinion. A point of view. The difference: a POV is grounded in a real perspective on where things are headed and what companies should do about it. Joe's Transformation Economy is the model. Right now, the most defensible experience POV is transformation — because transformation is the economic offering most deeply dependent on human expertise, authentic relationships, and the kind of curated AI deployment that actually requires strategic judgment. The era of typos and texture. Aransas's 15-year-old put it well: right now, the most human signal is imperfection. Messy feelings, quirky punctuation, genuine awkwardness — these are becoming markers of authenticity in a world of smoothed-out AI output. The demand for what feels genuinely human is rising alongside the supply of what doesn't. Key Quotes "Knowledge work has changed forever. Bird explains the origin of her stage name, her “accidental filmmaker” path after a cinematic album stalled during COVID, and her short films “Wider Than the Sky” and “You Found a Friend in Elvis,” inspired by a Roy Orbison story. Born with strabismus and severe vision issues, Ainhoa's early healing experience became foundational to her identity and later research. Her work highlights how stress, inflammation, and unresolved emotional tension can influence conditions such as myopia, astigmatism, and double vision. The conversation raises important questions about why glasses are often prescribed without investigating root causes like sinus pressure or chronic stress.Vision challenges can reveal far more than genetics or aging ever could. Perception reflects more than optics; it mirrors belief, physiology, and lived experience. You Are Beautiful with Lawrence Zarian

Lawrence Zarian hosts an episode of “You Are Beautiful” with guest Melissa Errico, beginning with a candid, humorous setup about lighting, auditions, and aesthetics before moving into Lawrence's background as a longtime TV makeover expert and QVC clothing designer behind “Beautiful by Lawrence Zarian.” They talk about how fashion is less about how you look and more about how you feel, share favorite pieces from Lawrence's line (including blues, an off-the-shoulder rosette top, and a scalloped V-neck stripe), and discuss what Melissa wears to feel confident—V-necks, black-and-white Breton stripes, vintage biker boots, and eclectic, artsy combinations. Lawrence and Melissa also answer a mirror question about what they like seeing in themselves that day, including Melissa's healing from an eye stye, feeling rested, and fresh red hair, and Lawrence's enjoyment of wearing blue, having a good hair day after hair loss post-COVID, and embracing turning 60. The conversation expands into Melissa's artistry and origins: her father playing Michel Legrand at home during the Vietnam era, how that music later led to Melissa's close collaboration with Legrand on Broadway and on a symphonic record (“Legrand Affair” with the Brussels Philharmonic), and her formative experience seeing “On Your Toes” on Broadway that made her sob and sparked her desire to perform. They discuss Sondheim's “Beautiful” from “Sunday in the Park with George,” which Melissa reads aloud to frame beauty as something that changes, and Lawrence's intent to focus his podcast on the essence of people rather than projects. Melissa then describes her evolving relationship with Barbra Streisand—how Malcolm Gets pushed her to truly listen, how Streisand's artistry feels like a force of nature, and how Melissa's “The Streisand Effect” concert is an homage exploring what Streisand made possible rather than a tribute imitation. They share personal connections to Broadway (including Lawrence's first love story with Hugh Panaro after seeing “Les Misérables,” and plans to coordinate seeing him perform again), and Melissa recounts meeting Streisand briefly backstage at Madison Square Garden. Melissa also describes creating a new song concept, “Daughter of Fire,” inspired by Streisand's memoir and a moment with her own daughter, and she closes by sharing her current release: an album titled “I Can Dream, Can't I?” rolled out as weekly singles via a “waterfall release,” featuring classic American songs and ending with Joni Mitchell's “Both Sides Now.” The episode ends with Lawrence's signature prompt—Melissa answering “I am beautiful because…”—and she responds that she is beautiful because she feels music deeply as something precious that passes through her.Timestamp Menu: 00:51 Broadway Beginnings and My Fair Lady01:49 Meet Lawrence and the Beauty Theme02:46 Fashion Crushes and QVC Picks04:24 How a Designer Is Made08:31 Podcast Origin and Mirror Question09:32 Melissa on Exhaustion and Healing12:38 Three Things You Like Today15:14 Aging and Self Acceptance at 6017:24 Sondheim Beautiful Reading21:58 Melissa Musical Spark and Legrand26:56 Broadway Awakening and Les Mis30:48 Broadway Crush Memories31:30 Broadway Boyfriends Bond32:14 Streisand Effect Origins37:05 Meeting Barbra Briefly39:40 Daughter of Fire Song42:26 Style That Feels Fire48:21 Wardrobe Tips After 4053:37 New Album Dreaming56:32 Beautiful Because Music58:35 Blue Love Farewell

In the final episode of this three-part series, Dr. Stacey Clardy and Max Goldman talk about telehealth.  Stay updated with everything related to Neurology on the Hill. Show transcript:  Dr. Stacey Clardy: Hi, this is Stacey Clardy, and today we're wrapping up our three-part series covering the Top Advocacy Issues for Neurology on the Hill 2026 in Washington, DC. This is the event where many neurologists fly in from all over the country to meet with our elected representatives to discuss the issues of the most importance to our patients, and to allow us to continue to take good quality care of our neurology patients. We have again back with us, Max Goldman. He's the Director of Congressional Affairs from the AAN Legislative Team. Max, we covered Medicare, we covered neuroscience research in the Brain Initiative. The third and final issue is telehealth. What do we need to accomplish on telehealth in Washington, DC this year? Max Goldman: The telehealth flexibilities provided with the COVID-19 public health emergency have been so important to providing neurological care to patients across the country. However, what we saw during the government shutdown at the end of 2025 was a lapse in those flexibilities, which caused a huge amount of panic, of uncertainty for both our members, the AAN, who are providing care, and patients who relied on care through telehealth from their neurologist. That can't happen again. These flexibilities have been extended short-term basis for one year, two year, a couple of months, and what we need now is a permanent extension of these flexibilities so they can't lapse again, and our patients know they can access the care they need. What we're doing at Neurology on the Hill is going to ask our members of Congress to co-sponsor the Connect for Health Act. This bill would permanently extend telehealth flexibilities, including a full extension of protection of audio-only visits, which is important for folks in areas without great broadband or access to internet. This would just be a really good bill. It's got a lot of momentum this year, and we're hopeful that this will finally make telehealth a permanent part of neurological care going forward. Dr. Stacey Clardy: So important. I certainly know out here in Utah where we cover several rural states, this has really been a lifeline to our patients. To learn more about this issue and the other issues being discussed at Neurology on the Hill, you can go to AAN.com and click on advocacy. Thanks for listening, and thank you Max, for representing us in DC.

In this episode of the Explaining History Podcast, we're joined by writer Susan Barrett to discuss her new novel, *All Cats Are Grey*—a dark and compelling work of historical fiction set against the backdrop of the London Blitz. The book tells the story of four very different people, each of whom has committed what might be called a "necessary murder" in their past. They come together during the chaos of the blackout to use their lethal skills against a serial rapist and murderer who is exploiting the wartime disruption to terrorise the bomb-scarred streets of London. This villain is inspired by a real figure: Gordon Cummings, an infamous but largely forgotten serial killer of the Blitz era.But our conversation ranges far beyond the plot. Susan, whose background is in film and television research, shares fascinating insights into how historical research has changed—and what we lose in the age of the internet. Hawk recaps the first 48 minutes of a recent Joe Rogan Experience episode featuring comedian Jim Brewer, and it does not disappoint. Joe Rogan and Jim Brewer open with the redacted Jeffrey Epstein autopsy report, zeroing in on a medical detail — Epstein allegedly had no prostate — while the body that was autopsied reportedly did. That discrepancy fuels a lengthy Epstein body double theory, with Rogan firmly believing Jeffrey Epstein is alive and living in Israel. A newly surfaced DOJ email in which an assistant US attorney refers to investigating the murder of Jeffrey Epstein adds another layer to the confusion, since Rogan and Brewer don't even think Epstein is dead. The Epstein files also reference hidden hard drives stashed in storage units across the country, which somehow leads Rogan into a rant about Storage Wars being fake. The conversation then shifts to baseball, steroids, Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and the Balco lab before arriving at what Hawk calls the centerpiece of the episode: the Tall Biden Conspiracy. Jim Brewer believes Joe Biden has been dead for years, replaced by a taller body double in a Biden mask whose gait, height, and eye color were all noticeably different from the real Biden. Rogan conducts a full physical analysis of video footage. Neither man detects the irony of warning against conspiracy theories moments later. Hawk reflects on his own history with the Joe Rogan podcast, including a 2020 episode with Dr. Michael Osterholm that accurately predicted COVID's devastating toll — before Rogan went off the rails with COVID conspiracies, antivax rhetoric, and guests like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Robert Malone. On this episode of Mad Rush, Trisha interviews creator and consultant Libby Amber Shayo (New York University at Buffalo, BFA in acting). Libby shares how she leveraged camp friendships, Facebook groups, and the Accepted Students Weekend to network and meet people in Greek life before committing to college, including hosting a first-night dorm meetup with dozens of girls. She describes joining a sorority during spring recruitment because of credit requirements, choosing a different chapter than her close roommate, and how not having a car helped her build connections across pledge classes through rides and one-on-one time with older sisters. Libby introduces her concept of the “brotherhood of the sisterhood,” explaining how fraternity friendships became a lasting support system—showing up to her theater performances, forming informal “family” ties, and traveling to major life events like her formal 300-person wedding (including a taco station and sombreros). She also recounts her career pivot during COVID after interviews in talent management/casting were canceled, going viral on TikTok with Jewish-mom comedy, running brand and Jewish organization accounts, launching the Schmuck Boys podcast about Jewish dating and identity, and later working in agencies on major snack and wellness brands before going full-time as a creator. Libby explains her event content creation business model—capturing phone-shot footage and delivering b-roll plus an edited reel quickly (often within 24 hours), choreographing TikTok trends at events, and applying the same approach to her own short, five-month engagement wedding planning and related content. The episode closes with where to find her online (LibbyAmberShay) and Trisha's notes on confidence, connection-building, and pre-ordering her upcoming book, The Rush Bible.

In this episode, Evan H. Hirsch, MD, sits down with Gina Worful, MS, RD, to explore what your food cravings are really trying to tell you. Gina Worful, MS, RD, is the founder of the Mastering Mindfulness Institute. Originally trained as a registered dietitian, Gina saw that traditional diet approaches failed to create lasting change. She developed a mindfulness-based methodology that helps people build self-trust and transform their health from the inside out. Today, the Mastering Mindfulness Institute supports individuals, health professionals, and universities in applying this transformational approach. For many people navigating long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other chronic illnesses, food can feel like a battleground. You know what you "should" eat, but exhaustion, depletion, and overwhelm make it difficult to follow through. Gina explains why cravings are not a lack of willpower, but a signal from your nervous system that your body has shifted into protection mode. In this episode, you'll learn: Why cravings increase when your body feels depleted or unsafe   The difference between physical hunger and stress-driven urges   The 3 R method: Reconnect, Reset, Reflect   How early nervous system stress shows up in the body   Why food often becomes associated with safety, love, and comfort   How mindfulness builds self-trust instead of self-control   Why your relationship with food mirrors your relationship with life  Rather than fighting cravings or trying to overpower them, Gina shares how to approach them with curiosity and compassion. When you understand what your body is actually asking for, cravings can soften naturally and become a pathway toward deeper self-awareness and healing. We sit down with Baldwin Wallace defensive coordinator Ethan Nichol to unpack how a would-be sports broadcaster became a college coach, why a cross-country move to Wyoming collided with COVID, and how a family-first choice brought him back to Ohio—and into a program built on grit and continuity.Ethan shares the apprenticeship years at Heidelberg, where doing everything from DB drills to administrative grind taught him how a program works under real pressure. He opens up about that eerie pandemic road trip, the decision to keep his kids close to grandparents, and the surprising upside of coaching where the players know your children by name. From there we get tactical: a defense returning seven to eight starters after ranking top 29 nationally against the pass, an offense with elite red zone and third down numbers under OC Matt Brown, and a staff nucleus staying intact to turn language and reps into second nature. The theme is clear—8–2 is the floor. The next step demands adaptability, smarter in-game adjustments, and the humility to do the simple things perfectly. We also zoom out to what makes Baldwin Wallace different. Presented by Karly Hampshire, MD; Natasha Sood, MD, MPH; and Bhargavi Chekuri, MD (Moderator)STFM Conference on Medical Student Education Closing Session | Sunday, February 1, 2026Climate change is the greatest health threat of the 21st century, yet medical education has been slow to prepare future physicians for its wide-ranging impacts on health systems and patient care. In this session, we spotlight the power of student-led innovation in advancing climate and health education through two globally recognized initiatives: the Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) and Climate Resources for Health Education (CRHE). Both began as grassroots projects by medical students who identified gaps in their training and took action to fill them. PHRC now benchmarks health professional schools internationally on planetary health curriculum, research, and operations, while CRHE has developed a growing library of open-access teaching materials to equip faculty with ready-to-use climate and health resources.Through a panel discussion with the co-founders of PHRC and CRHE, participants will hear first-hand stories of how these initiatives were built, scaled, and sustained as international collaborations. Panelists will reflect on their “aha” moments, early challenges, and lessons learned in fostering inter-institutional collaboration, leveraging mentorship, and bridging the gap between education and clinical practice. As both panelists now train as residents, they will also share how their perspectives on climate and health education have evolved with greater exposure to patient care and health systems. This session will equip educators, learners, and leaders with practical insights on cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset, leveraging collaboration, and supporting the next generation of change agents in climate and health education.Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this session, participants should be able to:Describe how trainee-led initiatives have advanced climate and health integration in medical education worldwide.Identify strategies for fostering collaboration, mentorship, and sustainability in grassroots educational innovations.Apply lessons from student innovators to support the development of new climate and health education efforts at their own institutions. Copyright © Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, 2026Karly Hampshire, MDKarly Hampshire is an internal medicine resident at Columbia University pursuing a career at the intersection of medical education, climate change, and health. We walk through idiopathic epilepsy, toxins, brain issues, genetics, and the complicated question of when a dog actually needs lifelong seizure medication. Finally, we crack open First Aid and land on Ehlers-Danlos syndrome — collagen, hypermobility, bruising, joint issues, blood vessels, aneurysm anxiety, and what it's like to live with a genetic condition that medicine still doesn't fully understand. It's nerdy, personal, and surprisingly validating. Takeaways: Digital Privacy Isn't Theoretical: Location tracking, data collection, and why opting out isn't always realistic. Preparedness vs Panic: Go-bags, pessimism, and how couples balance very different risk tolerances. Dog Seizures Are Terrifying: Idiopathic epilepsy is common, but deciding when to treat isn't simple. Pet Insurance Confusion: Why even doctors don't know what's actually worth paying for. Ehlers-Danlos Reality: Collagen types, hypermobility, bruising, and living with a condition medicine still struggles to define. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live  We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)! Born in Texas, and an avid athlete, she was a state Volleyball champion, and on the Arizona State University Water Ski Team all while attending the Walter Cronkite School for Journalism.  Paige began her career at Shape Magazine and shifted focus to freelance photography, video, graphic design, and branding. She developed successful campaigns in branding and commercials, including TOMS Shoes.  Paige then decided to create her own clothing line - sewing, dying, and designing each piece herself.   Her beloved brand, Aviator Nation, was established in 2006 with the focus to create quality Made in America clothing.  Another goal for Paige was to connect fashion with music while raising funds for charities and generating an awareness of our collective consciousness.  Today Aviator Nation is a multi-million dollar business with 16 store locations across the US – including event space Dreamland in Malibu and wellness studio, RIDE, in Santa Monica - and a factory in downtown Los Angeles that employs over 300 people.  The garments are still Made in America after 15 years and Paige continues to inspire other companies to push the limits on manufacturing local.  With a passion for philanthropy, she has worked with a variety of nonprofits including Charity Water; Surf Aid; Heal the Bay; The Flatwater Foundation; and Global Citizen with proceeds aiding in their ongoing campaign to end poverty. The brand also has partnerships with SXSW, Austin City Limits Music Festival; Lollapalooza Music Festival; and with John Mayer's previous concert tours.
