There are many reasons why some men might choose not to take off their shirts, and it's important to avoid drawing generalizations or jumping to conclusions. Here are some possibilities: Comfort and Practicality: Temperature: They might be feeling cold and the shirt provides warmth. Sweat: They might sweat easily and prefer keeping the shirt on to absorb perspiration. Sun protection: They might be trying to avoid sunburn. Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions might necessitate wearing a shirt at all times. Physical Concerns and Body Image: Insecurity: They might have body image issues and feel self-conscious about their physique. This could involve concerns about muscle tone, weight, scars, tattoos, or other physical characteristics. Pain or discomfort: They might have ongoing pain or discomfort in their upper body that makes removing their shirt undesirable. Religious or cultural beliefs: Some religions or cultures have modest dress codes that emphasize covering the upper body. Personal Preference and Social Factors: Habit: They might simply be accustomed to always wearing a shirt and feel uncomfortable taking it off, even in situations where it's socially acceptable. Personal boundaries: They might have personal preferences or boundaries about their body and prefer to keep it covered regardless of the situation. Social context: They might feel uncomfortable taking their shirt off in certain social settings, such as a formal event or a workplace with a strict dress code. It's important to remember that each individual is unique and their reasons for choosing not to take off their shirt are also unique. Rather than drawing conclusions or making assumptions, it's always best to respect people's personal choices and boundaries. If you're curious about why a specific person chooses not to take off their shirt, the best approach is to communicate openly and respectfully with them. Ask them if they're comfortable sharing their reasons, and be prepared to listen without judgment. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/moodkillers/message

Rebuilding Trust With Your Body
How to Tell Whether That Food Rule is Coming From Diet Culture or Your Personal Preference

Rebuilding Trust With Your Body

Let's talk about food rules. How do you know when you are making a choice with food that's based on your instincts and wisdom about your body versus when its diet culture is telling you to eat a certain way based on food fears and judgments?   What exactly do I mean when I say “food rule?” Well, a food rule is something you're telling yourself about what you should or shouldn't eat, or when you should or shouldn't eat, or how much you should or shouldn't eat. And these rules can come from a lot of different places, including diets, diet culture, things we make up in our own minds, and from eating disorder thoughts.    Then how can you tell when you're wanting to make a change with food, or eat or not eat a certain food for non-diet reasons? How do you know when it's “gentle nutrition” like we talk about in the intuitive eating framework?    I encourage you to make a list of food rules as you notice them. Start with a quick brain dump, and then stay curious about where other rules lurk in your life. Most people can identify several rules right off the bat, but then they'll notice other rules over the course of a week or month. So just keep a running list where you can make a note of them on your phone or journal. And then I challenge you to actively make an effort to break the rules, challenge the thoughts, and work through the feelings.  In episode 41 of the Rebuilding Trust With Your Body podcast, I'm talking about how to tell the difference between food rules and your food preferences. You'll hear:   What a “food rule” is and the many places these rules can stem from How a food rule is different from a personal preference or a gentle nutrition strategy with food The “thought challenging” strategy you can use to reframe your thoughts around food The importance of actively breaking your food rules in order to truly break free from them     I'm confident that pretty much everybody has some type of food rule or food guilt that they can relate to, and it's important that we can have these conversations and slow down to look at these things.   I know that this might feel tricky, but as you keep peeling back the layers, you'll get more and more clarity over time. Hello, Playdate Community! This week, Nick and Don take the week off to dig deep inside themselves emotionally, while Ryan is joined by Discord Leaderboard Hotshot, Nick F!  SO MANY NICKS.  They discuss protips and techniques for getting highscores on a variety of playdate hit games.  SEASON ONE SPOILERS ABOUND. Feel free to chime in on the socials with your own protips!  Thanks for listening. Join us here (most other weeks) as we examine all of the Season Pass games, as well as discussing news and indie finds from the Playdate community. NickF's *boopity-boop-boop* Tips and Techniques Notes WHITEWATER WIPEOUT (8:19) - Holding up immediately before leaving the wave lets you jump   - You will see him shift closer to the back of the board - Holding left or right allow you to spin faster - Combos are created by landing at least the same amount of spins as the previous jump   - However, can be maintained by switching between quads and trips. - It is worth losing the combo to land the jump cleanly   - Forcing that extra rotation will either cause you to wipe out, or leave you with too little speed to continue the combo on the next jump anyways - Work to land triple 360s consistently before going for quads or quintuples   - Muscle memory can be developed for number of crank rotations - Quints likely best used at the end of a run as waves run out (due to need for extreme lead-up and recovery). SNAK (24:24) - Faster game modes result in faster score buildup (for those with differing attention spans) - The game's framerate may slow down if too many apples are on screen (particularly when climbing up the snake's body)   - The game's framerate WILL slow down when the snake's body gets too long   - Helpful in faster levels! …But be mindful of adjusting your own (internal/perceived) rhythm of the game! - There is a split second before crashing/dying where the player still has a chance to turn the snake (a la PacMan Championship DX)   - Playing with the volume on will help, as the audio will also pause - The jump mechanic has a distance of two rows/columns - The snake can turn when doubling back on itself   - The snake does not need to retrace its exact path (can cross lanes) - The apples cannot climb on a section of the snake that has doubled back on itself (discussed in week 10 by Ryan)   - Good way to stall them in place and pick them off  - The 5-button thumb/circle/A motion is much easier to execute in Mirror HYPER METEOR (42:54) - Sometimes you can “spawn camp” an enemy to be in the white space before it begins to move   - Mostly recommended for the larger meteors - Take advantages of invincibility frames after a death to clear an overlapping cluster of enemies - Increasing your combo is the primary method of increasing score - Prioritizing destroying all the meteors on screen will also leave behind a greater number of smaller chunks to maintain combo between enemy spawns - Leveling up is based on the playtime of the run, rather than amount of enemy kills or overall score - Practice hitting enemies head-on/point-first. Gives more control over hitbox, as entire ship is a hitbox - Take advantage of 180/360 degree turns to control momentum - Circle enemies in the direction opposite their rotation to line up their weak spot - Do not chase enemies, let them come to you INVENTORY HERO (01:01:32) - Against the Crowllector, use bombs as soon as possible   - Subsequent rounds will require assembling more and more pieces of scrolls (halves, thirds, etc) - The Crowllector will destroy equipped gear almost immediately   - Hold a full suit of armor on and - The spinning columns in the matching game stop one past the slot in which A is pressed - Discard all rabbits as soon as they are obtained   - There is a slight delay before multiplication - Mushrooms will multiply in your inventory as well, albeit at a slower rate   - Eat ones that restore health, discard ones that lose health - Armor typically disintegrates before weapons - Repair scrolls restore all equipped gear - Do not hoard healing potions; they will be forcibly replaced by newly obtained items NECROCRISIS (01:11:57) - Mirror helps to see screen more easily during frantic cranking - The enemy patterns are for the most part fixed (learn locations/spawns) - Take the chance to reload after a screen before the next begins - Enemies don't always aim/shoot in the order which they appear on screen - Place the cursor at a common height so you only need to move left and right - Tweak the sensitivity to your liking (I use 12) - PERSONAL PREFERENCE: using on Mirror gives you a bigger screen and eliminates the issue of screen shake Intro/Outro Music - Made with Boogie Loops on Playdate Contact: Hello Playdate on Discord Hello Playdate on Instagram Hello Playdate on Twitter Playdatepodcast.com Indie Game of the Week Collection on itch.io Helloplaydatepodcast (at) gmail dot com Voice Mail - 1-(724)-BINGOS-1  (1-724-246-4671) Our Previous Podcast, Gaming On Ten For Amusement Only Podcast, Nick's EM Bingo and Pinball Podcast Game and Cast, Ryan's Handheld Gaming Podcast Series Tags: video games, gaming, handheld, handhelds, panic, playdate, play, date, yellow, crank, gameboy, ds, pocket, videogames, nintendo, sega, xbox, playstation, sony, vita, psp, ngage, itch.io, Keita Takahashi, katamari

Do we tend to use all three equally? Or do we put more credence in one more?We break this topic into our two main pillars, of course, training and nutrition. And detail our coaching approaches respectively for each. This episode ends up being a very productive and insightful conversation into the limitations of applying some research, and the power of anecdote and preference when you're finding yourself at the far ends of the spectrum. Thanks for listening! Coaching with Aaron ⬇️https://strakernutritionco.com/metabolic-performance-protocolDone For You Client Check-In System for Online Coaches ⬇️https://strakernutritionco.com/macronutrient-reporting-check-in-template/Paragon Training Methods Programming ⬇️https://paragontrainingmethods.comFollow Bryan's Evolved Training Systems Programming ⬇️https://evolvedtrainingsystems.comFind Us on Social Media  ⬇️IG | @Eat.Train.ProsperIG | @bryanboorsteinIG | @aaron_strakerYT | EAT TRAIN PROSPER PODCAST

Also, we mount up for Michael McDonald, admire some Choice Cones©, and welcome the new steel drum player for the Smashing Pumpkins. We also roll out another round of Personal Preference, which leads to talk of boozy mayonnaise and Craig unsuccessfully crashing a Hood Internet show. We’re getting throwback drunk on this one. Value-Adding and Personal Preference Remodeling Projects

This is what you should know about value-adding and personal preference upgrades. Today I’ll discuss the two final types of renovations to consider when you’re upgrading your investment or personal property. The National Association of Realtors cites that new siding and kitchen renovations like new countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, and new windows are some of the most beneficial projects when it comes to getting the most value during a sale. Upgraded bathrooms, refurbished decks, and energy-saving improvements also offer a lot of bang for your buck. Personal preference projects that you want but other people may not like include amenities like swimming pools, tennis courts, hot tubs, wine cellars, game rooms, and ponds. Believe it or not, pools rarely add a lot of value to a home. It’s usually expensive to maintain an in-ground pool, and many buyers view it as a high-maintenance hassle and potential safety hazard. There’s no harm in adding these items to your home, but don’t expect potential buyers to be willing to pay a premium when you’re ready to sell. Be careful when it comes to replacing a popular or commonplace feature in your home. If all the other homes in your neighborhood have two-car garages, you should probably think twice about converting yours into a game room. You should also think hard about large-scale changes like eliminating a bedroom or removing walls before you commit to them. “Don’t bother undertaking expensive projects strictly to increase the purchase price of the property.” Remember that your primary residence isn’t just a house—it’s your home. If you plan to live there for many years to come, add the amenities you’ll love, regardless of their impact on the resale value. When it comes time to sell, you can do the basics to get the property up to the neighborhood standards and add some curb appeal. However, don’t bother undertaking expensive projects strictly to increase the purchase price of the property. Those custom upgrades may add more appeal to you than your potential buyers. Keep your renovations small, neutral, and centered around improving the functionality of your home. If you’re wondering how your home compares to others in your neighborhood in terms of value, reach out to me. I’m happy to give you a free, no-obligation home valuation and share what your home could sell for after renovations. Hope to hear from you soon!

Interior Design 101

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 9, 2019 85:50

Definitions: Google - The art or process of designing the interior decoration of a room or a building. This is a very very generic dictionary definition! But this is an INCOMPLETE definition!2. https://freshome.com/2007/07/12/7-most-important-interior-design-principles/“Interior design is the process of shaping the experience of interior space, through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as surface treatment. Not to be confused with interior decoration, interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, and product design in addition to traditional decoration.3. http://www.iida.org/resources/content/9/7/documents/ID_Definition.pdf The true and complete definition is defined by the NCIDQ - It is the Board for Interior Design Qualification Here’s their definition - Interior Design is a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. So a designer’s job is not only dependent on aesthetic factors but also on codes, safety guidelines, behavioral studies, ergonomics, research and a lot more that gets applied all throughout the design process. If we look at these 3 definitions, it looks to me like a scale. Neither is wrong and they all represent some aspects of ID. Keeping in mind the NCIDQ is the most complete definition How do you understand as an interior designer, where do you fall on that scale? That is only dependent upon each designer’s PERSONAL PREFERENCE and PERSONAL GROWTH to decide where on the scale. Why does it matter to understand these definitions? What does it mean to us?Because this field is so vast and multifaceted that can get a lot of designers overwhelmed or confused as to what they want to do with their career. Over the last just 7 years ago pursuing my ID career I have grown to learn so much about the possibilities of ID and understanding one concept - That you are not bound by one speciality or type of design and it’s really a personal journey that you have to figure it out along the way. Do I know what I want to know do? Yes, I do have some vision of what I want to pursue and that’s why I started this podcast. Wherever you are on the scale know that it is a PROCESS. That’s what I want you to take away from this. You can’t beat around the bush or think you can do whatever. You CAN but ultimately that won’t make you feel happy or fulfilled in your career. Because this field requires so much time, energy, effort and it’s very creative, technical, and demanding job. You can get easily burnt out if you are unclear about what you want to do! So why does that matter? Why does study of Interior Spaces matter? Because of a very important fact/Statistic - Did you know that the average American spends almost 90% of their life indoors. In a study done by EPA (Which is the Environmental Protection Agency) the avg american spends 87% of their life indoors, 6% in a vehicle or other indoor locations, and merely 7% outdoorsBecause the interior spaces we occupy will affect an individual's health, comfort level, emotional and mental state. There’s a lot of research backing this up. Due to many factors like indoor air quality, lighting, safety and building codeMusic - Dive Deep - Provided by HookSounds.com Music by HookSounds

Born in Richmond, VA Jarrard Anthony was best known as a 3yr old Chuck Berry impersonator. Demonstrating an early aptitude for writing songs to video game melodies, Anthony caressed his 1st keyboard on Christmas at age 10. By HS, he’d made a commitment to share his gifts and seriously study his craft, learning from influences as varied as Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire, Sting, Jodeci, and the bright-voiced Corey Day from Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. While in school, Anthony joined an R&B group, Personal Preference, learning the art of compromise and collaboration that would later inform his writing for artists like Howard Hewitt, Franklin Roberts, Bobby Lyle, Tonia Woods and being sought after for studio work with Levi Little of Blackstreet, Tim Dillinger, CJ Lewis, and producer Joshua Thompson. Refinement in dance, voice, and performance came through 10,000 gladwell hrs of group rehearsals, lessons, talent show and local radio showcases, before eventually wowing the Apollo audience in NY, ultimately taking the Amateur night win. At 19 Anthony decided to step out on his own, releasing a single “So D-vine”. His indie EP debut, The Dream, soon followed as did a #2 spot on the UK charts. Anthony’s early recording success overseas opened the doors for relationships with famed producers Nate Smith, Bob Baldwin, Nolan Doran, and Joe McMinn, who worked for 2 yrs with Anthony on Don’t Sleep Just Dream. An international “Don’t Sleep Just Dream” tour followed, taking Anthony around the globe subsequently turning down financially dubious major label deals, earning the moniker, Mr. Independent. Over the next 5 yrs, Mr. Independent would launch a label, JAP Music Ent Group, and a major distribution deal with Bungalo/Universal. With the NIA/Purpose Music Group distributed Ready to Live, Jarrard lyrically/musically demonstrates a marked evolution from a carnal, young R&B lothario to growing man.
