Do you define yourself by your successes or your failures? Many of us tie our self-worth to our accomplishments or setbacks, but what happens when success fades or failure strikes? The truth is, neither defines who we are.  Today, I am flying solo to talk about why you should not be attached to success or failure. Through personal stories from my entrepreneurial journey, I will share the struggles of losing friendships during tough times, the painful lessons about ego and loyalty, and how I came to understand that our worth is not tied to what we achieve–or fail to achieve. In this episode of The Greatness Machine, I will unpack the importance of detaching yourself from the outcomes of success and failure, how to protect your emotional well-being when dynamics shift, and why loyalty should always be seen as a gift, not an expectation. I will also explore how failure, when embraced with the right mindset, can be a powerful catalyst for exponential growth, and why success is simply a result of the right actions rather than a measure of your worth.  Topics include: Success and failure as integral parts of the journey How rapid growth can obscure vulnerabilities The influence of personal emotions on business leadership The effects of economic shifts on businesses The importance of setting personal and professional boundaries The pain of exclusion and loss Separating identity from success and failure And other topics… Sponsored by: Brevo: Head over to brevo.com/greatness and use the code greatness to get 50% off Starter and Business Plans for the first 3 months of an annual subscription. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, host Hunter invites us into day 270 of our journey through the Scriptures, sharing readings from Ezra 4, Psalms 113 and 127, and Luke 9. Together, we'll witness the opposition faced by the Jewish people as they rebuild the temple, rejoice in the psalms of praise and wisdom, and follow Jesus as he sends his disciples, feeds the multitude, and reveals the true cost—and reward—of discipleship. Hunter weaves these passages together, reflecting on what it means to find real life in Christ by letting go of the world's definition of success and embracing the way of the cross. The episode concludes with heartfelt prayers and a warm reminder: you are loved. Join us as we seek wisdom, encouragement, and strength from God's Word on this September 26th. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Losing to Gain: The Way of the Cross If you hang on to your life, making it about you, insisting on your own way, you will lose your way. In the end, all your effort to gain will be a loss. The world's siren song is self and success. We think these are the marks of real living, the fruit of our hard work, the result of our cunning and sweat and our dedication. The world tells us that we will win and live with big bank accounts, big churches and big egos. That's the way of the world. And too often it can become the way of our churches, the way of our own lives. But Jesus points to something else. He points to the way of his kingdom. He says that we can gain all of the world and lose our soul. The way to live, the way to win in this kingdom is to daily take up a cross. People who carry crosses are giving evidence of their death. Jesus says, “I tell you the truth. Unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels, a plentiful harvest of new lives.” The life released in death is released in resurrection power, not the power of the flesh. And its results are abundant. The results are lives awakened to the love of God who comes to deliver us from our success and cravings for life on our own terms, those things that lead to nothing in the end. Jesus shows us the way to his kingdom. He shows us that he is the way to life and love and abundance by finding our lives in him, to be awakened to the life that is ours in Him. But we must turn away from the siren songs of this world and turn up the sound and music of heaven, the sound and the song of our Lord and Christ, who tells us, “Follow me and you will truly live.” And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

From chair-flying one more rep to sending that next application, grit is the force that keeps you moving forward when everything else says quit. Nik walks through: What grit really is — passion + perseverance toward long-term goals Why resilience matters — bouncing back after setbacks and failures The power of consistency — showing up every day, even when motivation fades Why adversity builds better pilots — strong captains are forged in storms, not calm skies Practical ways to build grit — study more, train harder, stay disciplined If you're training, interviewing, or grinding through the long days in aviation, this episode is your reminder to stay the course. Terry Haayema: Why "Working Myself Out of a Job" Is Wrong for Scrum Masters Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. "Success for a Scrum Master is to do myself out of a job... which I don't buy into at all, because a team will always need a coach." Terry challenges the common belief that Scrum Masters succeed by working themselves out of a job, arguing instead that teams always need coaching as they continuously improve. He emphasizes the importance of separating his outcomes from the team's success to avoid becoming part of the system he's trying to help. For Terry, success is measured by the visible joy he can create in people - when leaders approach him with happiness, when team members are excited to see him, when absenteeism drops because people actually want to come to work. He shares a powerful story of how helping teams find joy not only improved their performance but reduced their stress-related sick days from the highest to the lowest in their division. Featured Retrospective Format for the Week: Drawing Retrospectives Terry loves retrospective formats that use drawings and visual metaphors, like Draw Your Feelings, or the Sailboat retrospective. He explains that when teams draw pictures instead of immediately processing thoughts through language, they generate much richer and deeper insights. The approach works by having people first draw their thoughts, then asking "What led you to draw that picture?" This method bypasses the analytical mind and taps into more intuitive understanding. For longer-term retrospectives, Terry recommends Open Space Technology, which allows groups to self-organize around the most important questions they need to answer. Self-reflection Question: How do you measure your own success as a Scrum Master, and does that measurement inspire you to do your best work? [The Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast Recommends]

The Burnout Epidemic: Why 8 in 10 Employees Are at Risk: What leaders must know to prevent burnout at work Ever wonder why work feels harder now than during the height of the pandemic? You're not imagining it. Employee burnout isn't new, but it has reached a boiling point. Recent research shows that 44% of employees are more stressed today than they were five years ago, and 8 in 10 are now at risk of burnout in the workplace. The reality is that workplace burnout has reached epidemic proportions.  In this episode, Blake Schofield unpacks the latest 2025 employee burnout statistics, explores the true causes of burnout at work, and explains why old solutions like vacations, perks, therapy or productivity hacks don't work. You'll learn effective burnout recovery strategies that yield real results so you can finally find relief and a path forward.   Episode Highlights The Real Causes of Burnout at Work: [02:45] Why burnout isn't just about working too hard for too long [04:20] The difference between burnout symptoms and chronic misalignment [05:35] Why 90% of workplace stress comes from misalignment, not workload Signs of Burnout at Work Most Leaders Miss: [06:50] The "backpack getting heavier" analogy [07:40] Why top performers don't realize they're in burnout [08:25] The unsettled feeling that signals misalignment Why Traditional Solutions Don't Work: [09:15] Why vacations, wellness apps, and office perks are just band-aids [10:05] The cycle of temporary relief without root cause solutions [10:45] Why switching jobs doesn't solve the real problem The Path Forward: [11:10] Understanding how you're naturally wired to work [11:35] Identifying belief systems that create misalignment [11:55] How quickly transformation can happen with the right approach Powerful Quotes "Most people believe burnout happens after working too hard for too long, but that's too simplistic. The real problem is chronic misalignment." "Burnout is not caused by a period of overwork. It's a chronic condition caused by leading and living in ways that are misaligned from how we're wired to thrive." "Most successful people don't realize they're in burnout because stress and exhaustion have become so normalized."   Resources Mentioned If you've been searching for ways to prevent burnout or you've been wondering how to increase employee engagement & reduce turnover and burnout in your organization, I'd love to support you.  Explore a partnership together at https://impactwithease.com/corporate-training-consulting/. On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Lindsay Stadel  —wife, mom, entrepreneur, and award-winning author—who speaks plainly about depression, alcohol misuse, suicide ideation, and the work of recovery. Lindsay recounts the night everything changed, the decision to seek therapy, tapering off medication under care, and how she now runs four businesses while protecting her mental health. This episode is a direct, stigma-breaking conversation about warning signs, creating safe dialogue, and practical coping mechanisms. If you or someone you love is struggling, this talk models how to ask better questions and get help—without glamorizing harm.   About the Guest  : Lindsay Stadel   is an entrepreneur (four businesses, 13+ employees), award-winning author, and mental-health advocate. After a suicide attempt and years of therapy, she uses lived experience to help others recognize warning signs, seek support, and rebuild with honest conversations and daily choices.   Key Takeaways : Suicide ideation often hides behind outward success; watch for contradictions between public image and private behavior. Concrete warning signs can include giving away possessions, social withdrawal, and increased alcohol consumption. Naming suicide directly does not “plant ideas”; silence increases risk—ask specific, compassionate questions about mental state. “What if = fear; Even if = faith”: reframe catastrophic thinking into resilient problem-solving. Recovery is incremental: therapy, the right medication (when needed), tapering under care, and daily coping practices. Family transparency builds early detection; agree on signs to watch for and how to bring them up. Choose your circle: surround yourself with people who support healthy routines and accountability. Success does not erase pain; it requires boundaries, routines, and honest self-check-ins to stay well.   If you or someone you know is struggling or thinking about suicide, please know you are not alone. In the U.S., dial or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support, available 24/7.    If you're outside the U.S., please look up the local hotlines in your country or visit https://findahelpline.com/ for international crisis resources.     Connect with the Guest   Website: https://lindsaystadel.com/ Facebook: Search “Lindsay Stadel   Book: https://www.borntorisk.com/ She's active on major platforms under her name.   Want to be a guest on Healthy Mind, Healthy Life? What happens when you sell a 100-employee company at 28 and decide freedom matters more than settling down? Lauren Fernandez didn't just dream about working from anywhere—she made it a reality. But this isn't a glossy “digital nomad” story. It's the unfiltered truth about building a recruiting business while navigating serious health challenges, redefining success, and realizing your best life might look nothing like others expect. Lauren is the founder of Palm Coast Staffing, a legal recruiting practice she built while traveling the U.S. in an RV. After selling her first company with 100+ employees across three states, she and her husband skipped the mortgage and bought an RV instead. In this episode, Lauren reveals her three-section daily system that creates freedom through discipline, why she believes relationships beat cold calls, and how she structured her firm to keep running through unexpected crises. Episode Outline and Highlights [2:51] From selling rocks as a kid to building and selling a 100-employee company by age 28. [8:17] Hiring over 1,000 people—and what it taught her about matching success to the individual. [13:07] Rejecting the house for an RV and a new staffing business. [15:10] The unglamorous reality behind digital nomad life. [18:23] Her three-bucket daily planning system (no tech required). [23:19] An anti-cold calling philosophy: “find people where they are.” [27:59] Why returning to the same conferences builds long-term credibility. [34:42] Combating recruiting industry distrust through authentic relationships. [38:25] Running a business while navigating her husband's serious health diagnosis. [44:52] Why entrepreneurial lows aren't as devastating as you think—and highs aren't as high. On Building a Business That Serves Your Life After selling her first company, Lauren chose differently. When her husband was later diagnosed with myositis and developed stage three heart failure, their flexible model proved its worth. In her words: “Success looks different for different people at different times. Maybe right now you're in the building phase and you can work 12 hours a day, seven days a week. But maybe in a few years you've got kids and success is having freedom to spend time with them while they're young.” She asks every agency owner to reflect: “Is your company the tool to get you success, or is your company the success? Is it the means to the end or is it the end?” Her System for Freedom Through Discipline Lauren's three-section daily planning system is simple but effective. Using a paper planner, she breaks down daily into business development, recruiting, and operations. The buckets are interchangeable, so one disruption doesn't derail the whole day. “When you run your own business, there's a lot in the ‘other' section,” Lauren says. This system helped her keep placing candidates and winning clients—even during week-long hospital stays. Her insight: discipline in planning is what creates the freedom to adapt. Lauren Fernandez Bio Lauren Fernandez is the founder of Palm Coast Staffing, specializing in legal recruitment nationwide. She previously co-founded and scaled a sales and marketing company to 100+ employees before selling it at 28. After agency experience in Florida, she and her husband launched Palm Coast Staffing in 2022 with a unique twist—building the business from an RV while traveling the country. Lauren has personally hired over 1,000 people, giving her deep insight into aligning opportunities with candidates' life priorities. She's passionate about rebuilding trust in recruiting through authentic relationships, not spammy outreach. Currently based in Florida, she continues to build Palm Coast Staffing while supporting her husband through ongoing health challenges. Their next adventure? An RV trip from Florida to Alaska. The way you develop and execute goals, choose connections to form relationships, and overcome limiting beliefs may be at odds with your definition of success.   There are pitfalls associated with the power of goal setting, but you can begin right where you are. Question the goals you set to ensure they genuinely reflect your aspirations and are free from family or societal expectations. Discard any ego-driven goals to uncover your authentic objectives. By cultivating deep, meaningful relationships, you can build a support system that helps you courageously confront limiting beliefs while staying true to your authentic self.   When you demonstrate genuine care and value for others, you create a cycle of positive, impactful relationships at all levels, which in turn fuels your goals.   In this episode of the BOLD Business Podcast, you'll learn that relationships are central to everything in life. Your dreams matter, so it's essential to articulate them clearly for yourself.
