Daily Boost Podcast Awareness Is A Superpower August 27, 2026 | Episode 5529 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description Most people drift through life without ever noticing what's really happening. They set goals, make plans, and then wonder why nothing changes. I found a fix years ago, and it takes about ten minutes a day. It's called the Daily Awareness Diary. Nine questions, asked the same way every morning, until you can't hide from the answers anymore. You're going to hate the name. You might hate the first few days. But by day four or five, you'll see yourself clearly, maybe for the first time in years. Give it a listen, then give it a try. Featured Story Years ago I kept running into the same wall with people I coached. I'd ask about their beliefs, their values, the actions they were taking. And they'd make it up, not on purpose. They couldn't remember. They didn't know. So I started thinking about personal trainers. They tell you to track your diet for a week before they build a plan for you. Nobody argues with that. I could do the same thing with a life. Track it for a week or two, read between the lines, and the answer shows up on its own. I built nine questions and handed them to my Face Your Passion group. What came back surprised even me. Important Points Ask yourself the same questions daily. The questions stay fixed, your life moves, and the real pattern shows up. Look back before you look forward. Yesterday's honest scorecard tells you exactly what you need to fix today. Plan your responses before the day starts. Decide how you will answer, and most of your stress vanishes. Memorable Quotes You can only write things down and make something up for a limited time until you see what is actually happening. If I can point your awareness in the direction it needs to be and then give you a way to make adjustments, we can. I am here to tell you, this silly idea called a Daily Awareness Diary changes everything and puts you in control. Scott's Three-Step Approach Start tomorrow morning by looking back at yesterday and deciding, honestly, how you feel about what you created. Then look forward and name what you will create today, instead of working through a list somebody else handed you. Finish with one affirmation drawn from what you just saw, and then do the same thing for fifteen straight days. Chapters 0:02 - Why brutal awareness beats every other tool 1:26 - The nine questions nobody wants to answer 2:15 - Track your life like a trainer tracks your diet 3:40 - Looking back, then deciding what you create 5:51 - Prayer, connection, and the people you forgot 6:48 - The preplanned response that kills your stress 8:52 - Write your own affirmation and keep going Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Main Website: https://motivationtomove.com YouTube: https://youtube.com/dailyboostpodcast Instagram: https://instagram.com/heyscottsmith Facebook Page: https://facebook.com/motivationtomove Facebook Group: https://dailyboostpodcast.com/facebook Learn more about your ad choices. This week on Everybody in the Pool, we're revisiting one of the most interesting and impactful tools in the individual and corporate arsenal! The bummer news: your bank deposits could be funding the climate crisis? But we'd never give you bummer news without a solution! This week, Molly Wood speaks with Paul Moinester, founder of Topofinance, who reveals the shocking climate impact of conventional banking. Discover how just $10,000 in a major bank generates emissions equivalent to driving 10,000 miles yearly, and why moving your money to climate-friendly banks might be the easiest climate action you've never considered. Paul explains how corporations' banking emissions often exceed all their other emissions combined, and introduces innovative solutions that make greener banking both simple and profitable.Links:Topo FinancePaul MoinesterAll episodes: https://www.everybodyinthepool.com/Subscribe to the Everybody in the Pool newsletter: https://www.mollywood.co/Become a member for the ad-free version of the show: https://everybodyinthepool.supercast.com/Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/2EsDhwQC2z Hosted on Acast. You can also see it on YouTube.Devin: What is your superpower?Jackson: I would say it's, it's having a mission, um, that you are very passionate about and your ability to kind of see through the next few steps, uh, you know, the road ahead. Um, but then recruiting the right people along the way.Farm to Pet is proving that a simple, single-ingredient dog treat can challenge the highly processed pet snack aisle while building a fast-growing business.Jackson Jones, founder and CEO of Farm to Pet, started with a problem close to home: he wanted something healthier for his dog, Rooney. During the pandemic, he began experimenting in his basement with a KitchenAid mixer, a dehydrator and a simple idea.He told me, “I wanted to create something that was what I considered the healthiest treat for my dog and had an idea that we could take a chicken breast, we could take a turkey breast, and we could dehydrate that and just literally use it and nothing else.”That “nothing else” became the heart of the Farm to Pet brand. The company makes single ingredient treats in a crunchy chip format that dogs love. Jackson explained the common reaction perfectly: “That's one of the first things people ask is, are you sure it only has one ingredient? What else do you put in there?”What began as a homemade snack for Rooney has grown into a vertically integrated pet treat company with national reach. Jackson moved from the basement into one facility after another, ultimately landing in a larger production space that allows the company to meet demand. Along the way, Farm to Pet built sales through local retailers, Amazon and other channels.I was struck by Jackson's candor about the challenge. “It wasn't an overnight success by any means,” he said. “It's been steps and steps along this journey.”For me, the human interest in this story is the combination of love for a pet, entrepreneurial persistence and a clean-label product that is easy for customers to understand. Pet parents increasingly want transparency. Jackson built the company around exactly that.Farm to Pet is also raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine. Jackson said the campaign grew out of the need to fund more capacity while keeping the company in family control and inviting aligned investors into the journey. You can review the campaign at startengine.com/offering/farm-to-pet.I love seeing a purpose-driven consumer brand use community capital to grow. Jackson is not just selling treats. He is helping pet owners rethink what belongs in a dog's diet, one simple chip at a time.tl;dr:Jackson turned homemade chicken chips into the fast-growing Farm to Pet brand.Single ingredient treats provide a simple, healthy alternative to processed pet snacks.Farm to Pet is scaling operations with a focus on transparency and vertical integration.Jackson's leadership blends mission-driven passion, humility, team building, and trust.Practical insights for founders show how purpose and community can fuel business growth. How to Develop Mission-Driven Leadership As a SuperpowerJackson's superpower is mission-driven leadership. As he described it, the work starts with “having a mission…that you are very passionate about” and the ability “to kind of see through the next few steps.” Just as important, he said, is “recruiting the right people along the way.” Jackson was quick to emphasize that leadership also means humility. “It starts out, I think, by knowing what you're not naturally great at,” he said. For him, leadership is not about pretending to know everything. It is about building a team, listening, observing, changing his mind and giving talented people “the space and the time and the authority” to run with important work.Jackson illustrated this superpower through his early work with Miranda, who helped shape the company's social media and marketing. He admitted he did not know Instagram and was trying to DM people without much confidence. Rather than struggle alone, he invited Miranda to join the company and lead that work. She became a key part of the team, helping bring the crowdfunding campaign and brand story to life. Jackson's role was not to control every detail. It was to recognize talent, create space for ownership and let her strengths complement his own.Know what you are not naturally great at before trying to lead every function yourself.Build around a mission you care about deeply enough to sustain you through hard days.Look a few steps ahead so your team can prepare for growth before it arrives.Recruit people whose strengths fill your gaps and trust them with real responsibility.Listen carefully, observe what people enjoy and notice where they naturally excel.Give team members the space, time and authority to make decisions and own outcomes.Stay willing to change your mind when new information or better ideas emerge.Let go of work others can do better so you can focus on scaling the mission.By following Jackson's example and advice, you can make mission-driven leadership a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileJackson Jones:Founder and CEO, Farm to PetAbout Farm to Pet: Farm to Pet is a premium pet treat company committed to producing healthy, single ingredient treats for dogs. If your kid has ever looked you directly in the eyes and lied, even when you KNOW they know that you know the truth…you probably know the immediate panic spiral:Why are they lying to me? Is this normal? Can I trust them? If they're doing this at five, what happens when they're FIFTEEN?!And suddenly, this isn't about who ate the cookie or knocked over the toy, you're imagining your teenager lying about where they are, who they're with, what happened at the party, or something much, much bigger. But here's what most of us get wrong: If we want to raise kids who tell us the truth when it really matters, we have to be careful that our reaction to lying doesn't accidentally teach them that telling us the truth is dangerous. In this episode, Deena puts on her child therapist hat and breaks down what's actually happening when kids lie and why lying doesn't automatically mean you're raising a dishonest kid. In fact, there are several completely different reasons kids lie, and each one needs a different response. You'll leave this episode knowing why your kid is lying, what their lie is actually trying to accomplish, and exactly how to respond in the moment plus:- What to say when you know they're lying- When to use consequences- Why you don't need to force a confession- How to hold your boundary without making your kid afraid to tell you the truth next time. Most importantly, you'll learn exactly what to say and do when your kid lies to your face, without being permissive, letting them "get away with it," shaming them, or turning the whole thing into a 45-minute interrogation.Someday, the mistake won't be a stolen cookie, an iPad after bedtime, or marker on the table. It'll be something bigger. And in that moment, we want the thought that's louder than I'm going to be in so much trouble to be:I need to tell my mom. This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Send us Fan MailA pet medicine mishap kicks things off as we relive “Pilgate,” the moment Brik knocked arthritis meds off the counter and Bernoulli and Beaker ate a truly scary number of pills. Once everyone is safe, we shift to a bigger question that hits home for parents and teachers: are we asking kids to learn on devices that are built to distract them?We break down the changing screen time recommendations in schools, including major limits like those adopted by Los Angeles Unified, and why the evidence keeps pointing in the same direction: excessive classroom screen use is linked with weaker attention, worse reading outcomes, less handwriting, and more off-task behavior. We're careful about cause versus correlation, but we also get practical about what teachers see every day when an “entertainment machine” sits on a desk for hours. We talk about when technology actually helps, like targeted practice and the right science simulations, and why paper still wins so often. Then it's pet science time. A 2026 iScience study uses dog fMRI to test whether dogs can read emotion from human faces alone. The results are surprisingly sweet: happy faces light up reward-related brain regions, and dogs show different brain patterns for different negative expressions, even without voice, smell, or body language. Finally, we welcome back Dr. Jen Golbeck, professor, social media and AI researcher, and author of Think Like a Dog. We explore positive psychology for dogs, whether dogs “laugh,” how scent work can give a dog purpose, and how understanding a dog's perspective can improve behavior and well-being. Australia has become a laboratory for the energy transition, what can the rest of the world learn? After two weeks travelling across Australia and meeting the leaders shaping its energy transition, Michael Liebreich got a close up view of the country's transformation. For the final episode of Cleaning Up's Deep Dive Australia series, the host becomes the guest as Anna Freeman of the Energy Efficiency Council turns the tables and puts Michael in the hot seat to ask him what he has learned. Michael divides his takeaways into the good, the less good and the “downright ugly”, from Australia's extraordinary rooftop solar and battery uptake to its struggles with wind, transmission and diesel. He also asks whether the country really can become a clean energy superpower, and what its successes and failures can teach the rest of the world. Topics covered in this episode: Australia's rooftop solar advantage Why batteries are beating gas The missing middle of electrification Can transmission keep up? Nearly six months into an escalating conflict with Iran, the White House has unveiled "Operation Economic Outcast" - a sweeping financial campaign aimed at completely isolating Tehran from the global economy. Speaking on direct orders from Donald Trump, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the offensive, framing the measures as an economic equivalent to the Normandy landings. The objective is clear: cut off every remaining financial artery and economic lifeline sustaining the regime until Iran stands completely isolated on the world stage. But does the U.S. also risk tensions with China? Independent media has never been more important. And there's a mix of things that I would put into that toolbox that I think have supported me on my leadership journey.Communication Service for the Deaf is expanding opportunity for deaf and hard of hearing people by fighting bias as much as by improving access. When I welcomed Chris Soukup, CEO of Communication Service for the Deaf, back to this episode, I wanted to understand how CSD's work has evolved over its 50-year history. Chris described a mission rooted in “a persevering commitment to advancing the quality of life for people who are deaf and for the broader disability community.”For decades, CSD helped lead the push for communication access. That work mattered. Interpreting services, video relay and new technologies opened doors that had long been closed. But Chris explained that access alone did not change the economic reality for the community. Employment barriers remained stubbornly high.“We're really confronting challenges with misperception and bias,” Chris said. He noted that the barrier often appears at the very start of a job search, when a deaf applicant identifies themselves and an employer immediately imagines cost, complexity or extra work.“That blocker has really made it difficult for our community to make meaningful progress,” he said.CSD is responding in every direction. Chris called the work “a process of breaking down barriers by land, by air, by sea.” That means media engagement, policy work, corporate partnerships, employee resource groups, storytelling and matching motivated employers with talented deaf professionals ready to contribute. One part of the work especially excites Chris: entrepreneurship. CSD supports deaf founders building their own businesses. As Chris explained, when those entrepreneurs succeed, “they turn right back around, and they hire from their community.”That creates a powerful cycle. Deaf business owners build companies, employ others and become proof points that help dismantle bias for the next person.Chris also reminded me that accessibility is still a matter of safety. In a 911 emergency, a deaf person may have to wait several minutes for a video relay interpreter before even reaching a dispatcher. In a crisis, that delay can be life or death.Chris's response is characteristic of CSD's culture: “There's a better way.”That optimism is not naive. It comes from 50 years of pushing systems to become more humane, more accessible and more just. CSD's work shows that inclusion is not charity. It is infrastructure. It is innovation. It is economic opportunity.tl;dr:CSD's 50-year commitment expands communication access, employment, and economic opportunity for deaf communities.Bias often blocks talented deaf professionals before employers recognize their value.Entrepreneurship is a powerful path for deaf leaders to create jobs and opportunities.Accessible emergency communication remains a critical issue of safety and equity.Chris's superpower is authentic perseverance in advocating for systemic change and inclusion. How to Develop Authentic Perseverance As a SuperpowerChris's superpower is authentic perseverance. He said leadership requires a “toolbox,” beginning with “authenticity.” Early in his career, he struggled with preconceived ideas of how a leader should behave. Over time, he learned that “you're doing yourself and the people that you support a disservice by not representing yourself in a way that really reflects the person that you are.” He also emphasized persistence: “Nothing happens overnight,” and “change happens by showing up every day and being committed to making a difference.”Chris described an awakening that came from noticing where he felt most effective. One-on-one, he could use humor, tell stories, share experiences, use metaphors and speak honestly about big goals and fears. He realized he could bring that same intimacy to a larger audience. Instead of manufacturing a leadership persona, he chose to show more of himself. That authenticity helped him connect more deeply and lead more effectively, whether speaking with one person or many.Stop performing a leadership role and identify what is genuinely true about your strengths and vulnerabilities.Practice sharing the messy mix that makes you human, including humor, confidence, fears and limitations.Notice where you feel most natural and effective, then bring that presence into bigger settings.Keep showing up month after month, even when meaningful change takes longer than expected.Stay focused on the world you want to create and keep moving toward it with resilience.By following Chris's example and advice, you can make authentic perseverance a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileChris Soukup (he/him):CEO, Communication Service for the DeafAbout Communication Service for the Deaf: Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) is the largest Deaf-led social impact organization in the world. Scott Galloway joins Bill Maher for a wide-ranging conversation about the state of American men, modern dating, AI, and the economy. The bestselling author, host of The Prof G Pod, and co-host of Pivot argues that young men have more agency than they think, and that learning to handle rejection is part of moving forward. He and Bill get into porn, the incel movement, the manosphere, why humor and kindness still matter, and why men should pick up the check. Galloway tells the story of meeting his wife, debates Bill on the existential risks of AI, and weighs in on China's growing AI advantage, tariffs, capitalism, the shrinking middle class, inherited wealth, and whether older generations have tilted the economy too far in their own favor.. In today's devotional, Pastor Kerrick shares how the favor of God is designed to surround your life like a force field.
Roland Pease explores how decades of strategic investment and diligent educational reform have brought China to the brink of global scientific dominance. As the world's other scientific superpowers seemingly retreat from their historical high ground, how has China achieved such remarkable progress, both in applied and fundamental sciences? And what might that mean for the rest of us?Image: A humanoid robot competes in the 1500m final at the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games, at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing, China on 15 August 2025 (Credit: Tingshu Wan/Reuters)
The Coherency Creator: Feminine Leadership Archetype #7 of 8 "Through my presence, I bring things into order. I see what is out of alignment. I can pinpoint what causes disharmony." There is so much chaos, noise, and incoherency being thrown at us right now — and within us.The Coherency Creator gives us access to our power to work with the field - our own inner field and the fields (ecosystems, situations, relationships, interactions) we show up in - to bring situations, relationships, and realities into a resonant state of order and harmony. Not by fixing, saving or forcing. But through our presence. And our ability to speak and embody what is called the power of "loving truth." Consider this: We each can choose to be leaders in our lives, relationships, teams, family systems and community. We each have the power to shift a room, create harmony and order out of chaos and conflict, and open space for new possibility. Just by showing up centered, grounded, and clear. Which sounds much easier than it is in real time practice! In this episode, we welcome in The Coherency Creator to explore what it means to consciously wield this power in your life right now. Here's a snippet of the power within us when we tap into this … "I lead us to create structure that innately creates harmony between all the parts." (get the full written transmission here) Why this matters now: The chaos we are experiencing all around us is not accidental. When there is continual chaos, it keeps people stuck in the shadow frequencies of fear, blame, shame, and isolation. And we cannot create what's next from inside of that. The more of us who can consciously show up as coherency creators - in our own inner field first, and then in the fields around us - the more we shift what's possible. We don't have to fix it all. We don't have to be at the top of a hierarchy to embody this power. Often our most powerful act is simply to be a grounded, compassionate, honest, and clear presence in the room. Some of What We'll explore: Coherency as a Superpower - what it actually is, why it's so undervalued, and why the words alignment, resonance, harmony, beauty, clarity, presence, ease, and grace matter more than ever right now Your Body, Voice & Being as a Sword of Loving Truth - a somatic practice for understanding how your presence, energy, frequency, and essence work together to shift a room and create harmony and order out of chaos and conflict Incoherency Indicators - how to recognize when you're out of coherency in yourself or in the field, so you can work with your emotions and judgments and shift your energy on the inside before responding on the outside The Drama Triangle Flip - moving from victim, perpetrator, and fixer into creator, challenger, and coach — a simple but mighty tool for creating coherency Three Practices - simple, medium, large: Get Curious Instead of Critical; Proactive Power Pauses; and a five-part Elevation Practice for moving from incoherency to harmony step by step P.S. ✨ Get access to other episodes in this series here on the Feminine Power Time Wisdom Library. Jiminy's makes dog food, treats and dental chews using insect protein. Anne explained the mission simply: “At Jiminy's, we help dogs live longer, healthier lives on a greener planet.”The environmental case is powerful. Anne shared that a UCLA study found that 25 to 30 percent of the environmental impact of meat consumption in the United States comes from dogs and cats. Replacing traditional animal protein in pet food with insect protein can reduce land use, water use and greenhouse gas emissions. For Anne, the mission began at home. “I had this conversation with my daughter, and she really hit me with a bombshell,” she told me. “She told me that she didn't want to have kids. And the reason was she was worried about what the world would be like by the time those kids grew up.”That moment changed her career path. She had worked in the pet industry and knew there was room for innovation. Then she saw a United Nations study suggesting insects could help address world hunger. She ordered dry-roasted crickets online and offered them to her dogs.“The dogs went crazy for it,” Anne said. “As soon as they started drooling, I knew we had something that we could work with.”Anne Carlson will be speaking at SuperCrowd26 featuring PurposeBuilt100™️! Register now to watch his session live. What impresses me most is that Jiminy's is not just a clever brand with a fun name. Anne and her team have invested in science. They worked through FDA and AAFCO processes to demonstrate digestibility, palatability and real health benefits. Anne said the protein has been shown to support the microbiome, skin and coat health and even oral health. That science has translated into products dogs love and pet parents can feel good about buying. Jiminy's has won industry recognition for its food, treats and dental chews while growing distribution online and in independent pet stores.Anne is showing that purpose and growth can run together. By asking better questions about what we feed our pets, she is helping build a healthier future for dogs and the planet they depend on.tl;dr:Jiminy's uses cricket protein to create sustainable pet food that reduces environmental impact.Anne's climate concern for her daughter inspired her purpose-driven entrepreneurial journey.Science-backed benefits for dogs include improved gut health, oral health, and overall wellness.Jiminy's has earned industry recognition for its eco-friendly pet food innovations and growth.Anne's superpower is questioning everything and tenaciously pursuing innovative solutions. How to Develop Question Everything As a SuperpowerAnne's superpower is Question Everything. She told me, “I tend to question everything,” adding that she is “curious” and likes “to understand how things work.” That habit is not passive. Anne continues to ask, “What else can we do? How else can we have impact?” For her, the question is only the beginning. She emphasized that it is “not just ask the question, but then follow up,” because when a path emerges, “you've got to be tenacious to get it done.”Anne illustrated her superpower with a discovery that began on her floor at home. Her older dog Tuco was breathing in her face, and she wondered, “How the heck does Tuco have good breath?” She opened his mouth and saw white teeth. Because she was not giving him dental chews, she asked her scientists whether insect protein could be affecting his mouth. They hypothesized that medium-chain fatty acids might be responsible. Anne kept pushing. The company conducted a study, proved the oral microbiome benefit and relaunched dental chews that later won a major innovation award.Be fully present when talking with people so you notice ideas worth exploring.Do not let questions pass through your mind without asking them out loud.Probe for the underlying reason when something surprises you or does not make sense.Use science, data and expert partners to test your hypotheses.Follow up on promising questions with tenacity until you discover whether they lead somewhere useful.Keep asking how your work can create more impact for customers, animals and the planet.By following Anne's example and advice, you can make questioning everything a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. As the founder of Jiminy's, she's on a mission to make dog food and treats that are both tail-waggingly delicious and planet-friendly, using – wait for it – cricket protein! Her innovative approach is turning heads in the pet industry, with Jiminy's racking up impressive recognition in 2024: snagging the Pet Innovation Award for Best Dry Dog Food with Good Grub, winning Pet Age Magazine's Editor's Select Award for their mouthwatering Sweet Potato & Peas Training Treats, and scoring Pet Product News Magazine's Editor's Choice Award for their game-changing Dental Chews! When she's not leading her award-winning company, you might find Anne geeking out over insect agriculture (yes, she literally wrote the scientific playbook for cricket protein in dog food!). Her groundbreaking work earned her the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year award, but her real critics are her four-legged taste-testers: Tuco and Timber, her beloved pups. Before becoming the “Cricket Queen” of pet food, Anne was a corporate powerhouse at Big Heart Pet Brands and founded Secant (which she later sold to IRI). She's got the brains to back her vision – with degrees from Wash U and NYU – but these days, she's focused on changing the world one sustainable kibble at a time. Dave Asprey and Gabby Reece Talk Testosterone Therapy, Scream Cream, Autism as a Superpower, Cancer Protocols, and Surviving Fame in This Double Interview Episode Mega-Episode time! Your hormones might be causing symptoms you've been blaming on aging, stress, or your heart. This double interview episode gives you a real look at biohacking from two different angles: cutting-edge longevity science and the lived experience of hormone optimization after 50. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Gabby Reece, an American athletic icon, wellness entrepreneur, and one of the most influential voices in women's health, fitness, and performance. A former professional beach volleyball player who became Nike's first female spokesperson and shoe designer, Gabby set volleyball records at Florida State University that still stand today, and her signature Nike shoe line famously outsold Air Jordan during its release. She has since built a career at the intersection of performance and longevity, co-founding Hamilton House, Laird Superfood (NYSE: LSF), XPT, and HIGHX, and hosting both The Gabby Reece Show and the Proof of Practice podcast alongside leading voices in women's health and evidence-based performance. She is also a New York Times bestselling author. In this episode, Gabby turns the tables and interviews Dave herself, creating a rare two-way conversation between two people deeply immersed in human performance and biohacking. Dave and Gabby dig into how mitochondria function as quantum systems that shape everything from cognitive performance to spiritual perception, why autism can come with genuine neurological superpowers, and what actually happens in the body when hormone levels shift after 40. Gabby shares her personal protocol, including weekly testosterone injections, an estradiol patch, and a compounded hormone cream that most people have never heard of, and explains how correcting her hormones, not her thyroid, resolved a heart arrhythmia doctors initially missed. The conversation also covers Dave's approach to cancer protocols, why he avoids GLP-1 drugs despite their longevity benefits, the peptides he actually uses for mitochondrial renewal, and how cyclical ketosis, fasting, and a carnivore-leaning diet fit into a sustainable performance strategy. They also talk about AI's growing role in personalized longevity research, sleep optimization while traveling, and the supplement and functional medicine protocols Dave relies on daily. You'll Learn: Why Gabby's heart arrhythmia turned out to be a hormone problem, not a cardiac one, and how testosterone fixed it when nothing else worked What "scream cream" actually is, how it works through vasodilation, and why doctors quietly prescribe it during hormone replacement therapy How mitochondria function as quantum systems and why improving their function can sharpen intuition, focus, and perception Why Dave believes autism comes paired with real cognitive advantages once the physical burden of the condition is addressed What Dave would actually do if diagnosed with cancer, from antifungal protocols to high-power infrared light and early detection screening The peptides Dave uses for mitochondrial renewal, including SS31 and lesser-known Russian bioregulators like epitalon and pinealon Why Dave avoids GLP-1 drugs despite believing low doses carry real longevity benefits How cyclical ketosis, fasting windows, and a carnivore-leaning diet support sustainable long-term metabolism Why surrender, not control, was the hardest and most expensive lesson of Dave's career Gabby's advice for raising confident daughters and why she believes success is less about deserving it and more about how you steward it Thank you to our sponsors! - Beyond Wonderland Conference | Oct 13 - 14, 2026. Purpose is the greatest superpower people and organizations have in the world today. The best leaders and cultures know how to unleash their people by staying focused on the point. For Full Show notes visit: https://www.jasonvbarger.com/podcast/purpose-superpower-tom-rath/ Jason is joined by #1 New York Times bestselling author Tom Rath for an eye-opening conversation about dismantling the corporate hustle and turning purpose into a daily superpower. Please rate and review the podcast to help amplify these messages to others! Summary: In a fast-paced corporate world where employee engagement is hitting historic lows, how can leaders help their teams find true meaning? In this episode of The Thermostat, Jason V Barger sits down with Tom Rath—author of massive global hits like StrengthsFinder 2.0, How Full Is Your Bucket?, and his latest book, What's the Point?. Together, they challenge the traditional narrative that purpose is a grand, elusive destination, reframing it instead as a daily practice that fuels sustainable high performance. This conversation moves beyond standard leadership platitudes to address the core mechanics of human energy and contribution. Jason and Tom explore why "follow your passion" is often flawed advice, how to leverage personal strengths outwardly to serve others, and why the 100-year-old industrial mindset of "first in, last out" is actively destroying team productivity. They also tackle the rapid integration of AI, urging leaders to shift their teams from passive responders to active builders. Essential listening for C-Suite executives, HR directors, and team leaders committed to shaping compelling cultures, this episode offers actionable insights on daily habit building, modeling healthy boundaries, and cultivating the connective tissue of purpose within modern organizations. Episode Notes & Timestamps: Intro: Jason welcomes listeners and sets the stage for a conversation on finding meaning and purpose in daily moments. Meet Tom Rath: An introduction to Tom's incredible background, the evolution of his work from StrengthsFinder to children's books, and how he sets his personal temperature. Applying Strengths Outwardly: Tom discusses how to use self-awareness tools not just to look inward, but to ask: "What do the people around me need?" The Myth of the Grand Purpose: Why we need to stop viewing purpose as a mythological destination and start treating it as a daily superpower built through small interactions. Why "Follow Your Passion" Falls Short: A breakdown of why passion is too self-centric and why focusing on contribution and meaning is better advice for incoming generations. Dismantling Hustle Culture: Jason and Tom challenge the "all gas, no brakes" industrial mindset, highlighting how daily habits like sleep and boundaries drive real productivity. AI and the Shift to "Builder" Mindsets: Tom shares how AI has transformed his workflow and why leaders must help their teams transition from passive responders to active creators. The Power of Congregation: Exploring the future of work and why creating connective tissue through intentional gatherings is a leader's greatest competitive advantage. Key Takeaways for Leaders: Micro-Purpose: Stop searching for a grand life mission and start asking "What's the point?" in daily meetings and tasks to build a consistent, daily superpower. Model Well-Being: If leaders preach work-life integration but send emails from the beach, the culture will default to exhaustion. True productivity requires modeling actual rest and boundaries. Embrace the Builder Mindset: Use emerging technologies like AI to offload routine responses so your team can focus on creative building and strategic contribution. During this episode, I had the pleasure of discussing strategies with two veteran Reg CF investors, Tom J Wright and Glenn Burney, who've honed distinct approaches to choosing impactful investment opportunities.Glenn emphasizes the importance of early-stage research and trusted tools like KingsCrowd, a platform that evaluates crowdfunding opportunities. “I usually start there, and if they're rated at least a four, I start digging deeper,” he explained. Glenn's diligence doesn't stop there; he carefully evaluates the founders. “The most important things I look for before I invest are the founders and the total addressable market. If I believe in the founder and the product or service, that's when I invest.”Tom echoed many of Glenn's insights but with his own seasoned approach, placing a special emphasis on market size. “I love a big TAM (total addressable market) because a startup can grow as big as the market allows,” he said. Using a memorable analogy, Tom compared startups to goldfish, explaining that their growth often depends on the size of their environment: “A goldfish will be small in a small tank, but if it's in a lake, it can grow to a foot long.”Beyond market size and founder qualities, Tom also values passion and disruptive potential. “Is the founder full-time? Are they going to do whatever it takes to make this thing successful?” He noted that revolutionary technology is often his green flag: “I love revolutionary tech because it can reset an entire market.”Valuation also plays a critical role in their decision-making. Glenn shared his preference for startups with valuations under $20 million, explaining his goal of achieving at least a 10x return: “If I feel like I can get at least a 10x return, then I feel like the valuation is good.” Tom approaches things similarly but allows for higher valuations when the opportunity feels right. “You want in early… Low valuation and a big TAM? That's a powerful combination.”Their stories also highlight the importance of intuition and alignment. “Does it resonate with me personally?” Tom asked, reflecting on how his values influence his choices. Glenn concluded by sharing his proudest success: investing in a startup that became a unicorn, providing him with a 21x return. The insights shared by Tom and Glenn prove that regulated crowdfunding isn't just about profit—it's about backing great people with big ideas while making a difference in the world. For investors, their advice is invaluable: do your research, trust your instincts, and focus on opportunities that combine potential impact with strong fundamentals.tl;dr:Tom and Glenn share strategies for evaluating and investing in Reg CF startups for impact. They highlight tools like KingsCrowd and key criteria such as TAM and founder commitment.Glenn recounts his story of helping a startup raise $125,000 via a meaningful introduction.Tom and Glenn discuss aligning investments with personal values and market trends for success. Both emphasize the power of passion and networking in transforming investments into impact. How to Develop Passion and Networking As a SuperpowerTom's superpower is his passion, which fuels his mission to make the world more just. As he explained, “Passion is what fuels the fire in my belly… It gets me excited, keeps me up late, and helps me go after these investments.” Glenn's superpower is networking and connection. He shared, “My superpower is bringing people together, adding value wherever I can… I try to help founders after I invest by sending resources or opportunities their way.”Glenn shared a story that exemplified his networking prowess. After investing in a startup, he connected them with an accelerator program that ultimately helped them raise $125,000. His introduction led the company to win the program's grand prize, underscoring how impactful his connections could be for early-stage companies.Tips for Developing the Superpower:Continuously seek inspiration by surrounding yourself with motivational materials, like books and quotes.Look for examples of courage and perseverance from history and everyday life to reignite passion.Focus on adding value to others before asking for help in networking situations.Leverage social media platforms like LinkedIn to build meaningful professional connections.Look for ways to champion others' success through introductions and referrals.By following Tom and Glenn's example and advice, you can make passion and networking your superpowers. With practice and effort, you could develop these skills to do more good in the world through impactful investments and purposeful connections.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. If you've been producing content, speaking, consulting, or coaching for a while, you probably know your stuff inside out. But knowing it and being able to transfer it - to clients, audiences, or products that work without you - are two very different things. That gap is exactly what this episode is about.Susanna Rea is a visual framework specialist, author of Framework Thinking, and one of the clearest thinkers I know on how to turn what you already do into something that genuinely scales. This conversation went places I didn't expect, including some honest reflection from me about the times I've left value on the table by not leaning into my own framework when it mattered most.If you're sitting somewhere between being good at what you do and being properly known for it, this one's for you.Visit her website : https://susannareay.comThree things we got into:✳️ A framework isn't a rigid process map - it's a way of connecting your ideas so your audience understands your value at a glance, stays in your world longer, and can follow the journey without you having to explain it from scratch every time.✳️ The four elements of Susanna's Framework Thinking model - impact detection, boundary setting, visual recognition, and transfer integrity - with transfer integrity at the centre, because a framework that only works when you're in the room isn't really a framework.✳️ Why AI is useful at the edges of framework development (spotting patterns in your data, suggesting names) but cannot do the excavation work in the middle - that part has to come from your lived experience, or it'll fall flat the moment someone asks you to speak to it.Susanna's amplifiers:✳️ Know your way - stay true to your own values and inner wisdom rather than mimicking what others are doing. Intuition is just your gathered thoughts over the years. Trust it.✳️ Block time to think with pen and paper - step away from screens and give your brain the space to percolate. No agenda. Just see what comes up.✳️ Lean into persistency over consistency - keep your eye on the goal, but experiment with how you get there. Doing the same thing every day and expecting different results is a trap.If you want to take the next step with Susanna, connect with her on LinkedIn and take her free Natural Authority Style Quiz - it takes under 3 minutes and gives you a personalised starting point for framework thinking. And if this episode has you thinking about your own positioning and how you get known for what you do, the Leader Brand Business Roadmap is a great place to start. Steven Dixon, a former Baltimore heroin kingpin, reveals how the city's drug trade really worked during its most notorious era—from New York suppliers and mob connections to high-purity heroin, street corners generating staggering amounts of cash, and the operation that made him millions. He breaks down how heroin moved from New York to Baltimore, how dealers controlled territory across West Baltimore, why trusted connections mattered, and how the drug economy seen in The Wire compared to what was actually happening on the streets. But the money and power came with a devastating price. After building a massive operation and owning more than 100 properties, Steven eventually became addicted to heroin himself—losing the empire, the money, and nearly everything else. After years of addiction, he finally got clean, returned to school, earned a master's degree, and dedicated his life to helping others recover through addiction treatment and behavioral health programs. This is the inside story of Baltimore's heroin era—from millions in drug money to addiction, recovery, and redemption. Go Support Steven! Devin: What is your superpower?Gene: I've always felt that range is more important than depth. That's where I am.Azure Printed Homes is turning recycled plastic into faster, lower-cost housing while attacking two crises at once: housing scarcity and plastic waste. Gene Eidelman, President of Azure Printed Homes, joined me to explain how the company uses robotics and 3D printing to manufacture housing in a factory.“Azure is a platform that uses robotics and 3D printing to manufacture housing,” Gene said. “30% less expensive, 70% faster, and no waste.”That simple description understates the breadth of the impact. Azure began with backyard studios and ADUs during COVID. The company has since expanded into homes for people experiencing homelessness, affordable housing, wildfire rebuilds and soon, Gene says, multi-story apartment buildings. What I find so compelling is the way Azure's model layers benefits. The company reduces construction waste, reuses plastic that might otherwise end up in landfills or oceans and creates housing more quickly in places where people desperately need it. Gene confirmed that the company has already recycled “millions upon millions” of plastic bottles' worth of material. The work is no longer theoretical. Gene told me the company has delivered more than 150 homes across six states. Its largest project so far is a 62-unit village for people experiencing homelessness in San Luis Obispo, California. By using ground screws rather than traditional foundations, Azure fit nearly twice as many units on the site as conventional construction would have allowed.“We took a very small site, 3/4 of an acre site, and put a lot of units,” Gene said. “If it would be done traditional construction, they couldn't take more than 34 units, but we did 62.”Azure's market is broad. The same platform can support a small safe home for someone leaving homelessness, an ADU in a California backyard or a luxury rebuild in Malibu. “It's really a platform to expand what can be done quicker and less expensive,” Gene said.I'm also excited that Azure is using regulated investment crowdfunding to fuel its growth. Gene explained that the company has completed six campaigns across several platforms, building a community of more than 2,500 investors in 48 states and 20 countries. Azure is currently raising debt capital through a Honeycomb campaign, which you can find at geneeidelmanmedia.com.For impact investors who care about housing, climate and innovation, Azure's progress offers a powerful case study in how purpose-built businesses can scale solutions that matter.tl;dr:This episode explores Azure Printed Homes' mission to turn recycled plastic into faster, lower-cost housing.Gene explains how robotics and 3D printing reduce waste while expanding housing options across markets.Azure has delivered more than 150 homes, including a 62-unit homeless village in California. The company is raising growth capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding debt campaign on Honeycomb.Gene's superpower, range, helps him pivot quickly while staying focused on solving big problems. How to Develop Range As a SuperpowerGene's superpower is range. He told me, “You can acquire deep knowledge. You can hire for deep knowledge. It's the range that is necessary.” For Gene, range means staying focused on the solution while remaining open to the tools, materials, customers and business models that can get you there faster. He said entrepreneurs should “focus on the solution” while also thinking about “how other products that they might be thinking of could be used for this solution.” That perspective helped Azure move from construction to 3D printing, material science, robotics, light-gauge steel and homes on wheels.Gene saw this superpower earlier in his career while building childcare centers. A nearby hospital loved the centers but explained that its nurses could not afford them. Gene quickly reframed the problem. If the hospital funded a center on campus, there would be no rent burden and nurses could access care. That pivot created a corporate childcare business that grew to become the third largest in its niche in the country before being sold to a publicly traded company.Focus on the solution first, not the initial product or business model.Build range by continuously educating yourself across disciplines, markets and technologies.Use new tools yourself before asking your team to adopt them.Hire experts when deep technical knowledge is required.Bring team members with you to meetings so they can observe, learn and generate ideas.Listen actively to customers, partners and industry veterans before prescribing answers.Stay open to unexpected markets when customers reveal new uses for your solution.By following Gene's example and advice, you can make range a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileGene Eidelman (he/him):President, Azure Printed HomesAbout Azure Printed Homes: Azure Printed Homes transforms recycled plastic into 3D-printed houses—built 70% faster and at 39% lower cost than traditional construction—tackling both the housing shortage and the global plastic waste crisis.Website: azureprintedhomes.comCompany Facebook Page: facebook.com/azureprintedhomesOther URL: geneeidelmanmedia.comBiographical Information: Gene Eidelman is the co-founder of Azure Printed Homes, founded in 2022 to create sustainable, affordable housing using recycled polymers. Bleeding is what kills people after trauma. That single fact sits at the center of this WarDocs episode, in which host Dr. Wayne Causey, a vascular surgeon, sits down with two military interventional radiologists — Dr. John Pavlus of Brooke Army Medical Center and Dr. Jonathan Schutt, an interventional radiology resident at Yale — to examine one of the fastest-moving areas in modern medicine and what it could mean for the wounded service member. Endovascular care, as they describe it, is deceptively simple to explain and remarkably hard to field: a small stick in the groin or the wrist, image guidance instead of an incision, and wires and catheters small enough to be called straws, threaded through the vascular tree to block a bleeding artery or reline an injured one. As one guest puts it, the patient goes home with a band-aid. The conversation moves quickly from definition to system. At Brooke Army Medical Center, a trauma activation commits the interventional team to needle-stick access within sixty minutes of the call, day or night. That standard was not bought with equipment. It was built on years of bi-directional trust with the trauma surgeons, to the point that the team now responds without stopping to relitigate the imaging. Both guests are blunt that ownership is the price of admission: if interventional radiology wants a seat on the trauma team, it has to show up at two in the morning for cases that are neither lucrative nor glamorous. The harder question is how far forward this capability can go. REBOA is scaled today at Role 2, and stent graft and embolization cases in Role 3 remain largely case-reportable events performed by clinicians who brought their own equipment. The limiting factor, both guests argue, is not technique — it is imaging, logistics, and institutional will. Meanwhile, Israeli teams transition to bunker operations within twenty-four hours, and Ukrainian experience with drone-driven injury patterns is already reshaping assumptions about REBOA and embolization that the United States has not yet tested. The episode closes on people rather than platforms: the case for a military interventional community that crosses Service lines and partners with surgical colleagues, the argument for a skill identifier that lets the system find the right clinician, and a practical inventory of what one interventional radiologist would carry in a backpack if told to deploy tomorrow. Chapters (01:11-06:26) Two Pathways Into Military Interventional Radiology (06:26-10:15) Endovascular Care Explained: A Lot Through a Pinhole (10:15-17:02) The Sixty-Minute Trauma Activation at Brooke Army Medical Center (17:02-26:11) Forward Capability: REBOA, Stent Grafts, and the Role 2 and Role 3 Gap (26:11-35:54) Silos, Superpowers, and the Real Cost Equation (35:54-49:56) Allied Lessons, a Military IR Community, and What Fits in a Backpack Chapter Summaries (01:11-06:26) Two Pathways Into Military Interventional Radiology Both guests trace how they arrived at interventional radiology and at military service — one from the Air Force Academy and a fighter pilot track redirected by a day shadowing an orthopedic surgeon, the other from a childhood spent in a pararescue uncle's uniform and an HPSP commissioning. Each was pulled toward endovascular work by the same realization: that the future of the specialty was in doing more through less. Their training routes differ, one through diagnostic radiology and fellowship, the other through an integrated residency pathway. (06:26-10:15) Endovascular Care Explained: A Lot Through a Pinhole The guests define endovascular care in the language they use with patients: a small poke in the groin or the wrist, image guidance rather than an open field, and catheters threaded through the vascular tree like a plumber working pipes. Roughly ninety-five percent of the work is image guided, most often with fluoroscopy. The host adds the surgeon's framing — always ask what can be fixed through the blood vessel before opening a chest or an abdomen. (10:15-17:02) The Sixty-Minute Trauma Activation at Brooke Army Medical Center A blunt trauma patient arrives, CT shows active extravasation from a high-grade splenic injury, and the trauma activation commits the interventional team to needle-stick access within sixty minutes. The guests describe how that pathway was built on bi-directional trust rather than debate over each scan, and why the team now launches without relitigating the imaging. Both stress that owning trauma call — unglamorous, poorly reimbursed, and at all hours — is what earns interventional radiology its place on the team. (17:02-26:11) Forward Capability: REBOA, Stent Grafts, and the Role 2 and Role 3 Gap The conversation turns to what exists downrange. REBOA is scaled today at Role 2, and endovascular hemorrhage control at Role 3 remains largely a set of case reportable events performed with clinician-supplied equipment. The guests explain stent grafts as simultaneous hemorrhage control and reconstruction, and identify imaging, transport, and packaging — not procedural skill — as the true limiting factors on projecting this capability forward. (26:11-35:54) Silos, Superpowers, and the Real Cost Equation One guest argues that interventional radiology has been siloed by civilian incentives the military has no reason to copy, and that the specialty's real advantage is the fusion of diagnostic reading and procedural skill he calls a superpower. The host and guests weigh the higher up-front cost of advanced imaging and devices against the dramatically lower recovery burden of a pinhole procedure. The biggest hurdle, one guest says flatly, is people — convincing decision makers the capability is worth funding. (35:54-49:56) Allied Lessons, a Military IR Community, and What Fits in a Backpack Israeli teams shifting hospitals to bunker operations within twenty-four hours and Ukrainian experience with drone-driven injury patterns are held up as evidence the United States is playing catch-up. The guests describe the effort to build a military interventional radiology community across Services and to partner with the American College of Surgeons military chapter. The episode closes with a practical deployment loadout — ultrasound, micropuncture kits, sheaths, a base catheter, coils, and wire — and a walk through current training pathways into the specialty. Take Home Messages Bleeding is the mission. The immediate cause of preventable death after trauma is hemorrhage, which is why endovascular capability belongs in the operational conversation at all. Every argument for pushing this capability forward reduces to stopping the bleeding fast enough, and doing it without creating a second catastrophe. Framing the specialty this way makes its military relevance impossible to dismiss. Trust is the system, not the equipment. A sixty-minute call-to-stick standard at a level one trauma center was not purchased — it was built over years of bi-directional trust between the trauma team and the interventional service. Once that trust exists, the activation launches without relitigating the imaging, and everything else falls into motion. Any unit trying to replicate the capability should build the relationship before it buys the gear. Ownership earns the seat. Trauma call is unglamorous, poorly reimbursed, and inconvenient, which is exactly why some centers have written interventional radiology out of the pathway entirely. Showing up at two in the morning, reviewing imaging alongside the trauma team, and taking responsibility for the patient is what secures a permanent place on that team. Presence before the activation is what makes the activation work. The limiting factor is logistics, not technique. Everything done at a level one trauma center is technically achievable far forward — the constraint is diagnostic imaging, fluoroscopy, packaging, and airlift, not procedural skill. Progress therefore depends on investment decisions and institutional will rather than on new procedures. Convincing leaders that the capability is valuable is the hurdle, and funding follows conviction. Allies are already ahead, and the injury patterns are changing. Israeli teams move a hospital into bunker operations within twenty-four hours, and Ukrainian experience with drone-driven wounding is already reshaping assumptions about balloon occlusion and embolization. Planning for the last war is the fastest way to arrive unprepared for the next one. Learning from partner nations now is cheaper than relearning under fire. What if UFOs aren't extraterrestrials at all, but something far more profound? In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Chris Bledsoe (UFO experiencer known for his remarkable story of contact with unexplained phenomena, author of UFO of GOD) shares the full story behind his alleged contact with nonhuman intelligence, an encounter that transformed his life forever. After years of financial collapse, debilitating Crohn's disease, and personal despair, Chris claims he witnessed mysterious fireballs in the sky before being taken aboard a glowing "orb" or Tic Tac-shaped UAP. What began as a strange sighting quickly turned into a missing-time event in which he disappeared for four hours...only to return feeling as though no time had passed at all.The experience didn't just change his worldview - it miraculously cured his Crohn's disease and awakened an ability to heal others. Through hypnotherapy, he later recovered memories of what he describes as a guided "tour" of Earth and beyond, including encounters with the Egyptian pyramids, Mars, and revelations about humanity's place in the cosmos.Chris also recounts his encounters with mysterious portals and a divine feminine entity he calls "The Lady", experiences that he says attracted the attention of both government officials and representatives from the Vatican, leading to years of scrutiny and investigation. But the story doesn't end there.Chris reveals the five years of darkness that followed his encounter, how his life unraveled after speaking publicly about his experiences, and why those hardships ultimately strengthened his spiritual faith more than ever before. He also discusses continuing to witness these unexplained orbs to this day.Are UFOs aliens? Angels? Interdimensional beings? Spiritual entities? Chris shares what he believes UAPs truly are, and why he ultimately refuses to place a definitive label on the phenomenon.Chris also breaks down:- His traumatic childhood and two near death experiences that he believes prepared him for contact with the paranormal- Dramatic cultural shift from UFO ridicule to mainstream acceptance- Why he believes humanity is currently undergoing a global awakening- Future of telepathy, expanded consciousness, and "seeing without eyes"- Whether anyone can access the same spiritual abilities he claims to possess- How organized religion may limit humanity's direct connection to the divine- Why restoring the "divine feminine" is essential for humanity's future- How he manifests spiritual gifts and extraordinary experiences- Why he believes every person has the right to connect directly with GodWhether you view Chris Bledsoe as a mystic, experiencer, prophet, or one of the most fascinating figures in the UFO world, this conversation challenges conventional ideas about consciousness, spirituality, extraterrestrials, and humanity's future!Watch the Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Official Podcast on HBO Max, the HBO Max YouTube channel, or listen wherever you get your podcasts. https://link.mgln.ai/Stuart Feel less puffy, sluggish, and stiff with Lifepro.
