Have you ever heard "planned neglect" anywhere else but Organize 365? Probably not because it's a term I coined to describe what I do to more effectively manage my responsibilities and time. One can't do everything so you must determine what is the highest value you provide to your work, community, or family and implement planned neglect for a certain amount of time to manage it all. I Must Have Mentioned "Planned Neglect" Before I was fairly shocked when I asked AI to give me some feedback based on a few episodes I shared. It explained the "framework" I have put in place. Ha! Much to my surprise because I hadn't realized I offered a framework. I must have talked about it a few times on the podcast. But it wasn't wrong. You need to identify the timeline when you will be using this planned neglect. Then you should tell your family so they know what's happening when you start to cut corners to free up time for you to better utilize your highest value in this phase of life. Then you need to extend a lot of grace to yourself. It's ok that you have lowered your standards. It doesn't have to be forever just while something else needs more of you. Then you need to implement these temporary habits. And understand that this particular shortcut you have used in the past may not help you the same as it has in the past. You may need to figure out a different way to make life easier for a certain amount of time. So back in the day when the dinosaurs were still roaming around, I identified planned neglect. I needed a little more time to work on my direct sales business. I thought about what could I neglect to give my attention to focus on my business? So I started with a nanny for 10 hours one day a week. Once my business grew even more I hired an assistant to help just 5 hours a week. Then there was the time I realized I was driving 25 hours a week. It was time to outsource laundry. It was beautiful for a while when I would drop off my laundry and pick it up folded and hung. And I have shared a few phases of life when paper plates became the china of choice in the Woodruff household. Coming Out of "Planned Neglect" Now that the PhD is coming to an end I have really wrestled with what I want to do with that time. I acknowledge that I will go back to cleaning my house and maintaining my own window boxes. I have really been thinking about the planned neglect I have practiced and it's time to reverse some of those habits. It dawned on me that while I am back to using real plates for lunch and dinner, I will continue to use paper plates and bowls of different sizes for breakfast. Also, I hadn't realized pursuing the PhD meant my health and body would suffer. I hadn't put any thought into my nutrition and I certainly wasn't moving as much as a person should. So now that I am coming out of planned neglect I have started to use some of that time to go to the gym. And I have decided I no longer want to spend that money on the Tovala meals. It was worth the money when I didn't have time to grocery shop or meal prep. But now, I have time to focus on my nutrition so I am not ordering Tovala meals. Who knows, I may utilize them again in a season I need to. As I come out of planned neglect I am going to take back my body and health. I will also be giving time back to working on Organize 365®. You have already seen a little bit of this as I have eliminated the work products. I am launching my new book "Escaping Quicksand" and will likely write more books. And I am getting ready to focus on The Productive Home CEO and new terminology to go with it being the Household CEO. I also want to explore how to use this new authority in academia to benefit household managers and their systems. And at home I will be filling in all the blanks in my information management binders from The Paper Solution® and taking one day a month to focus on my CEO position in the Woodruff house. Planned neglect is simply looking at your tasks, deciding how you can lower your standards of that task and then implementing a new habit for a certain amount of time. Mine was the PhD recently, what is yours? EPISODE RESOURCES: The Sunday Basket® The Paper Solution® Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter

If you've ever walked into a room and immediately felt behind… this episode is for you.I recently attended an eight-figure mastermind in Vermont and, despite years of building businesses, speaking on stages, and creating companies from scratch, I still found myself feeling completely out of my element. That experience reminded me of something powerful: growth doesn't always feel graceful. Sometimes it feels awkward, intimidating, and uncomfortable. But uncomfortable doesn't mean unqualified. It usually means you're growing. In this episode, I'm sharing what I learned from being in a room full of high-level entrepreneurs, the mindset shift that changed how I think about success, and why the real question isn't “What do I need to do?” but…“Who do I need to become?”We'll talk about:Navigating seasons where you feel behindWhy every successful entrepreneur starts before they feel readyHow growth requires identity shifts, not just better strategiesThe power of showing up before you feel confidentIf you've been questioning whether you belong in the room you're stepping into, this is your reminder:You're not behind. Rambo Van Halen is a pseudonym. He's a Hollywood producer — the real kind, the below-the-line kind, the guy making sure the steel gets to the factory — who worked in the industry for decades, walked away in 2019, and wrote a book about it.The book is called Hollywood Samizdat: Notes from Below the Line. Topics include: what a producer actually does (mostly administration, definitely not what people think); what happens to actors when nobody says no to them for 20 years; the feminization of Hollywood and why straight guys stopped being able to do their jobs; military veterans vs. film school graduates on set (no contest); Werner Herzog, Klaus Kinski, and the Amazon river; the unwritten casting rule about who can and can't be the butt of the joke; MeToo — the careers it should have ended, the ones it shouldn't have, and the Joe Gatt story that will make your jaw drop; and why Rambo Van Halen is not his real name and probably never will be. In this episode of The Higher Standard, Chris and Saied dive headfirst into the wildest S-1 filing Wall Street may have ever seen: SpaceX, Starlink, XAI, Mars colonies, asteroid mining, lunar economies, data centers in space, and Elon Musk casually trying to justify a $28.5 trillion total addressable market like he's ordering lunch. The guys break down whether this is a visionary master plan to make humanity multi-planetary or a beautifully packaged liquidity event with rockets, buzzwords, and enough “AI” mentions to make Nvidia blush. From the insane valuation math to the XAI gamble, the class structure, the retail investor risk, and the very real question of whether investors are buying a business or a sci-fi trilogy, this episode is classic THS: smart finance, sharp skepticism, and just enough chaos to make the moon feel underwritten.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1928, Oliver wrote six science fiction novels, more than sixty science fiction short stories, and three western novels. It's not unusual to discover an author who had a handful of letters published in science fiction magazines during the 1940s and 1950s. What is unusual is finding one who wrote nearly one hundred of them!Although he was born in Ohio, Oliver spent most of his life in Austin, Texas. He served twice as chairman of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas, balancing an academic career with a remarkably successful writing career.Today's story first appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in May 1959, beginning on page 41. In this episode of The Pet Pig Podcast, Autumn shares five important things pig owners should do to prepare their pigs for summer weather and prevent heat-related problems. She explains that pigs struggle with heat because they cannot sweat efficiently, making shade and cooling areas essential. Autumn recommends checking pig areas throughout the day to ensure shade remains available as the sun moves, and suggests options like trees, tarps, shade cloths, lean-tos, and covered porches. She also stresses the importance of reliable water access, noting that pigs often flip or spill water bowls. Dehydration can become dangerous quickly in hot weather and may contribute to salt toxicity, so owners should make sure pigs always have access to cool, shaded water. Another major topic is mud and cooling zones. Autumn explains that pigs use mud to regulate body temperature, protect their skin from the sun, repel bugs, and satisfy natural instincts. She shares ideas such as kiddie pools, shallow bins, sprinklers, gentle hose spraying, and homemade mud areas to help pigs stay cool. The episode also covers spring and summer grazing. While pigs enjoy grass, especially sugary spring grass, too much grazing can lead to rapid weight gain. Autumn explains how she carefully manages grazing access and adjusts pellet feeding to maintain healthy body condition and reduce the risk of overheating. Finally, she discusses enrichment during hot weather. Since pigs tend to become less active outside in extreme heat, boredom can lead to destructive behavior indoors. She recommends enrichment activities like rooting boxes, treat hunts, frozen snacks, snuffle mats, cardboard boxes, and blankets to keep pigs mentally stimulated and happy. The episode closes with important heat safety reminders, including warning signs of overheating such as panting, lethargy, weakness, and refusing food. Autumn also explains the dangers of salt toxicity and emphasizes that overheated or dehydrated pigs should be cooled and rehydrated slowly, not all at once. For generations, music was something families simply DID together. Today, many parents feel unqualified to make music with their own children, leaving it to teachers and experts. But what if that shift is costing our kids one of the most powerful tools for developing creativity, empathy, resilience, language, and connection? Acclaimed educator and author Joan Koenig explains why music belongs in every home, why you don't need any musical training to nurture a child's musicality, and how simple, joyful music-making can help children become happier, healthier, and more whole. This conversation (and book) will change your view of music engagement with the littles in your life! How do you find inspiration when you don't know what to create next? As singer-songwriters, we often assume we need a clear idea, a finished vision, or a specific project before we can begin creating. But what if inspiration doesn't come from thinking harder about what to make? What if it comes from paying attention? In this episode, we're exploring the work before the work — the often overlooked phase of the creative process where artists gather clues, follow curiosity, collect observations, and remain open to inspiration before a song, project, or creative vision fully reveals itself. I share some behind-the-scenes reflections from my own creative season of uncertainty, including revisiting unfinished songs, experimenting with new creative possibilities, and learning to trust the process before clarity arrives. We'll talk about: how to find inspiration as a singer-songwriter the creative season before clarity gathering creative clues and collecting ideas why inspiration often follows engagement, not the other way around living creatively with open eyes, open ears, and an open heart overcoming the pressure to have everything figured out trusting the creative process when you don't know what's next preparing the soil before the song emerges If you've been feeling stuck, uninspired, creatively restless, or unsure what project to pursue next, this episode offers a gentler approach: stay engaged, pay attention, and trust that something meaningful will emerge in its own time.

In the first session on the book of Job, Beth Moore begins to unpack the literary masterpiece by highlighting a few distinctions about the book. We'll journey into the heavenly courtroom to hear Satan's claim. We'll read together, eyes wide open to the horrific scene that unfolds in Job's life. In a journey of faith, we are challenged to navigate relationship with this God we cannot see nor fully comprehend and certainly cannot control. Can we trust someone we have no capacity to control? We have crises of faith so disturbing to us that we feel like we can't tell it to others yet, we need desperately to know we are not alone. So aware is our God of this condition, he made certain we would not only find company but find it in the actual biblical canon itself. There is despair. And then there is baffled despair. Suffering that exceeds our ability to process. Trump and Bessent's $250 bill photo sums up the current moment, but under the surface the economy is tearing apart. AI stocks are ripping while credit card delinquencies hit 2008 levels.
