Chief Justice John Roberts recently called out the Trump administration for their threats to impeach judges who have ruled against them. In response to these threats to the judiciary, the Keep Our Republic's Article III Coalition, composed of over twenty former federal district and circuit judges appointed by Presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama, defended the federal judiciary, as political impeachment attempts against judges increase and the federal courts system face heightened scrutiny. In this episode, Craig is joined by Chief Judge Paul R. Michel, formerly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and member of Keep Our Republic's Article III Coalition. Together, Craig and Judge Michel discuss the calls for impeachment of judges by the current administration, and how a coalition of judges is fighting back. This Day in Legal History: 25th Amendment to the US Constitution On February 10, 1967, the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, establishing clear procedures for presidential succession and addressing concerns about vacancies in the executive branch. The amendment was a response to historical ambiguities in presidential succession, particularly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Prior to its ratification, the Constitution provided little guidance on what to do if a president became incapacitated. The amendment formally allowed the vice president to assume the presidency if the president died, resigned, or was removed from office. It also established a process for filling a vacant vice presidency, a critical change since several vice presidents had died or resigned without a designated replacement mechanism. Additionally, it provided a procedure for a president to temporarily transfer power to the vice president, such as in cases of medical procedures. The amendment's fourth section allowed for the removal of a president deemed unable to discharge the duties of the office, though this provision has never been invoked. The first use of the amendment came in 1973 when Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned, and President Nixon appointed Gerald Ford as his replacement. The amendment was invoked again in 1974 when Nixon resigned, making Ford the first unelected president in U.S. history. Since then, the temporary transfer of power provision has been used several times for medical reasons, including during surgeries for Presidents Reagan, George W. Bush, and Biden. The 25th Amendment remains a critical safeguard, ensuring stability and continuity in the executive branch.A federal judge has temporarily blocked Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency from accessing certain Treasury Department data and ordered the destruction of information already obtained. The ruling follows a lawsuit filed by 19 Democratic-led states against President Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, alleging that allowing Musk's team access to personal financial data violates federal law. The judge found the states likely to succeed on the merits and cited risks of data exposure and hacking. The lawsuit argues that the administration implemented the policy without public explanation or a privacy impact assessment, violating the Administrative Procedure Act. The order prevents Treasury from granting access to unqualified individuals and mandates background checks for those with clearance. Meanwhile, a separate lawsuit filed by unions has also led to a temporary restriction on access to Treasury systems. The White House defended DOGE's role as a government efficiency initiative, while critics, including Senator Ron Wyden, accused the administration of misleading Congress about the extent of Musk's involvement. A hearing is set for February 14 to determine whether a longer injunction will be issued.Musk's DOGE Blocked From Treasury Data in State AGs Lawsuit (1)The Justice Department is shifting resources from traditional priorities like counterterrorism and white-collar crime to focus on immigration enforcement under President Trump. Prosecutors are being reassigned to border districts, and the FBI's joint terrorism task forces have been directed to assist with immigration initiatives. Additionally, US Marshals and DEA agents now have the authority to make immigration arrests. Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered investigations into sanctuary jurisdictions and instructed DOJ units to prioritize foreign bribery cases linked to cartels over other white-collar crimes. Critics, including congressional Democrats, warn that diverting resources in this way could increase crime and weaken national security. Legal experts argue that pulling experienced prosecutors for immigration cases carries a steep opportunity cost, while counterterrorism specialists say their methods are not suited for handling migration. The move reflects a broader effort by the Trump administration to maximize the DOJ's role in immigration enforcement early in the new term, learning from past efforts to reshape asylum law and border policies.Border Focus Pulls DOJ Resources From Terrorism, White CollarA U.S. judge will soon decide whether President Trump's buyout offer to two million federal workers can proceed. The plan, which offers employees pay through September if they resign now, has been challenged by federal workers' unions, arguing that Congress has not approved funding for it. Overseen by Elon Musk and his newly created Department of Government Efficiency, the initiative is part of Trump's broader effort to downsize the federal government. Democrats and unions have raised concerns over Musk's growing influence and DOGE's access to sensitive government data. While 65,000 employees have reportedly accepted the buyout, unions warn that the administration may not honor the deal. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has already faced shutdown-like actions, with staff ordered to stop work and the agency temporarily closed. Meanwhile, Trump has hinted at further cuts, including in the Pentagon, as legal challenges continue to mount against his sweeping restructuring efforts.Judge to review Trump's buyout offer to government workers | ReutersThe Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has been effectively shut down under the leadership of acting chief Russell Vought, who ordered staff to halt all regulatory activities and cut the agency's funding. The move eliminates federal oversight of financial companies, drawing sharp criticism from consumer advocates and Democratic lawmakers. The National Treasury Employees Union sued to block Vought's actions, arguing they undermine Congress' authority. Critics also raised concerns about Elon Musk's involvement, as his Department of Government Efficiency has gained administrative access to CFPB systems, despite Musk's business interests in the financial sector. Agency employees and unions accuse Musk of trying to take control of his own regulator. Vought also ordered the agency's headquarters to close for a week and shut down public communications. The shutdown is part of Trump and Musk's broader effort to restructure the federal government, prompting legal challenges and public protests.Consumer protection agency neutralized by Trump's new chief | Reuters This is a public episode. Corey Coates 01:40 you're listening to the show that has created more financial freedom than nearly any show in the world. This is Get Rich Education. Keith Weinhold 01:56 Welcome to GRE from Dunedin, Florida to Dunedin, New Zealand and across 188 nations worldwide. I'm Keith Weinhold, and you are listening to get rich education, where real estate investing is our major. That's what we're here for, with minors in real estate economics and wealth mindset. You know, as a consumer of this media type as you are, it's remarkable how often you've probably encountered these de facto scare tactics, like the BRICS are uniting and it will take out the dollar and it's just going to be chaos in the United States. You might know that BRICS, B, R, I, C, S is the acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Do you know how hard it is to get off the petro dollar and how hard it is for the BRICS, which is basically more than just those five countries, it's dozens of countries. How hard it is for them to agree on anything with things as various as their different economies, and they'll have different customs and currencies. I mean, sheesh, just for you to get yourself and three friends all to agree to meet at the same coffee shop at the same time, takes, like a Herculean effort, plus a stroke of luck, and all full of you are like minded, so I wouldn't hold your breath on the dollar hyper inflating to worthlessness, although it should slowly debase. What about the scare tactic of the FDIC is going to implode, and this could lead to bank closures and widespread societal panic. Well, the FDIC, which stands for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, they're the body that backs all of the US bank deposits, including yours, and it's steered by their systemic resolution Advisory Committee. Well, there are $9 trillion in bank deposits, and is backed by only a few 100 billion in FDIC cash, so there aren't nearly enough dollars to back the deposits. So can you trust your money in the bank? That's a prevalence scare tactic, but my gosh, if nothing else, history has shown that the government will step in to backstop almost any crisis, especially a banking related one, where one failure can have a cascading effect and make other institutions fall. I'm not saying that this is right, but time has proven that the government does and will step in, or the common scare tactic in our core of the world that is the eminent housing price crash. And I define a crash as a loss in value of 20% or more. Do you know how difficult this would be to do anytime soon? Housing demand still outstrips supply. Today's homeowners have loads of protective equity, an all time high of about 300k so they're not walking away from their homes. Inflation has baked higher replacement costs into the real estate cake, and now mortgage rates have fallen one and a half percent from this cycle's highs, and they are poised to fall further, so a housing price crash is super unlikely, and a new scare tactic for media attention seems to be this proposal by a future presidential hopeful about a tax on unrealized gains. Now Tom wheelwright is the tax expert. He's returning to the show with us again soon here, so maybe I'll ask him about it. But a tax on unrealized gains is politically pretty unpopular. It would be a mess to impose, and a lot of others have proposed it in the past as well, and it has not gone anywhere. Plus tax changes need congressional approval, and we have a divided Congress, there's a small chance that attacks on unrealized gains could come to fruition, but it would be tough. It's probably in the category of just another media scare tactic, much like the BRICS and the shaky FDIC banking structure had a housing price crash. I like to keep you informed about these things, and at times we do have guests with a disparate opinion from mine on these things. Good to get a diversity of opinions, but it's best not to go too deep into these scare tactics that are really unlikely to happen any time soon. Well, there was a party going on 10 days ago at what all affectionately dub club fed in Jacksonhole Wyoming, I don't know what the club fed cover charge was, but fortunately, we did not have to watch Janet "Grandma" Yellen dance at Club fed and and share. Jerome Powell, yes, he finally caught a rate cut buzz. He announced that the time has come for interest rate cuts, and as usual, he didn't offer specifics. Total rager. what a party. later this month, he's going to render the long awaited decision, which now seems to be, how much will cut rates by a quarter point or a half point? Did you know that it's been four and a half years since the Fed lowered rates? Yeah, that was March of 2020, at the start of the pandemic. And then we know what happened back in 2022 and 2023 they hiked rates so much that they needed trail mix, a sleeping bag and some Mountain House freeze dried meals to go along with their steady hiking cycle. Interest rates now, though have been untouched for over a year, it's been an interesting year for the Fed and rates many erroneously thought there would be six or more rate cuts this year. And what about Maganomics? Trump recently said that if he becomes president, he should be able to weigh in on fed decisions that would depart from a long time tradition of Fed independence from executive influence. Historically, they've been separated. Donald Trump 08:26 The Federal Reserve's a very interesting thing, and it's sort of gotten it wrong a lot. And he's tending to be a little bit later on things. He gets a little bit too early and a little bit too late. And, you know, that's very largely a it's a gut feeling. I believe it's really a gut feeling. And I used to have it out with him. I had it out with him a couple of times, very strongly. I fought him very hard. And, you know, we get along fine. We get along fine. But I feel that, I feel the president should have at least say in there. Yeah, I feel that strongly. I think that, in my case, I made a lot of money. Iwas very successful, and I think I have a better instinct than in many cases, people that would be on the Federal Reserve or the chairman. Keith Weinhold 09:10 Those Trump remarks were just a few weeks ago, and then shortly afterward, he seemed to walk those comments back, but he did say that he would not reappoint. DJ J-pal, to the economic turntables. It's a long standing economic argument as well about whether an outside force like the Fed should set interest rates at all, which is the price of money, rather than allowing the rate to float with the free market as lenders and borrowers negotiate with each other. I mean, no one's out there setting the price of oil or refrigerators or grapes, but it is pretty remarkable that the Fed has signaled that rate cuts are eminent when inflation is still 2.9% well above their 2% target. But let's be mindful about the Fed's twofold mission, what they call their dual mandate. It is stable prices and maximum employment. Well, the Fed's concern is that second one, it's that the labor market has slowed and see the way it works is pretty simple. Lower interest rates boost employment because it's cheaper for businesses to borrow money that encourages them to expand and hire, which is exactly how lower interest rates help the labor market. That's how more people get hired, and this matters because you need a tenant that can pay the rent. So the bottom line here is to expect lower interest rates on savings accounts, HELOCs, credit cards and automobile loans. What this means to real estate investors is that lower mortgage rates are eminent, although the change should be slow. Two years ago, mortgage rates rose faster than they're going to fall. Now, one thing that lower interest rates can do is lower America's own debt. Servicing costs and America's public debt is drastic. Now, between 35 and $36 trillion in fact, to put our debt into perspective, it has gone galactic. And I mean that in an almost literal sense, because look, if you line up dollars, dollar bills, which are about six inches long, if you line those up end to end from Earth, how far do you think that they would reach? How about to the moon? Oh, no, if you line up dollars end to end, they would stretch beyond the moon. Okay, let's see how far we can follow them out through the solar system. They would breeze past Mars, which is 140 million miles away, the next planet out Jupiter. Oh, our trail of dollar bills would extend beyond that. Next up is Saturn and its ring. The dollar bills would reach beyond that. We're getting to the outer planets now, Uranus still going. Neptune, okay, Neptune is about $30 trillion bills away, and we would have to go beyond that then. So our 35 to $36 trillion of national debt would almost reach Pluto that's galactic. That's amazing. That's bad, and it probably means we have to print more dollars in order to pay back the debt, which is, of course, long term inflationary. And I don't know what's stopping us from going from $36 trillion up to say, 100 trillion, gosh. next week here on the show, we're talking about real estate investing in one of the long time best and still hottest real estate investor states, and then later on, we've got brilliant tax wizard Tom wheelwright returning, as we know here at GRE real estate pays five ways, and if you have any Spanish speaking family or friends, I've got a great way for them to consume all five video modules. This week's guest is one of the first people I ever heard discussing the blockchain and cryptocurrency 15 years ago, and then he was early on AI. What got my attention is his education about a promising construction material for building new real estate, though, I expect that our discussion will delve outside of real estate today as well. Let's meet the incomparable George Gilder. This week's guest is the co founder at the Discovery Institute, discovery.org original pillar of supply side economics, former speechwriter to both Presidents Reagan and Nixon. And he's the author of the classic book on economics called Wealth and Poverty. Today he's at the forefront of technological breakthroughs. He's a Harvard grad. He wears a lot of stripes. I've only mentioned a few. Hey, welcome to GRE George Gilder. George Gilder 15:09 right there better here. Keith Weinhold 15:11 It's so good to host you, George, in both your writings and your influences on people like President Reagan, you champion supply side economics. And I think of supply side economics as things like lower taxes, less regulation and free trade. We had someone in the Reagan administration here with us a few months ago, David Stockman. He championed a lot of those same things. But go ahead and tell us more about supply side economics and what that means and how that's put into practice. George Gilder 15:43 Well, it really begins with human creativity in the image of your Creator, essence of supply side economics now super abundant. I mean supply side economics triumphs. We had the whole information technology revolution ignited during the Reagan years and now dominates the world economy and gives the United States seven out of the top 10 companies in market cap. 70% of global corporate market cap is American companies because of supply side economics amazing, and that's why it's distressing to see supply side economics, with its promise of super abundance and prosperity and opportunity, Give way to narrow nationalistic calculations and four tenths of war. I mean, all these Jews are at the forefront. Today, in time, we're going to see human creativity once again prevail in my books, Life After Capitalism is my latest book, my new paradigm is graphene. Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms, two dimensional layer of carbon atoms that is 200 times stronger than steel, 1000 times more conductive than copper. It switches and the terahertz trillions of times a second, rather than the billions of times a second that our current silicon chips which and you mix it with concrete, the concrete comes 35% stronger, just parts per million of graphene mixed with concrete yields some material that's 35% stronger than ordinary concrete. You mix a parts per million of graphene with asphalt, the roads don't get potholes in the winter. It's radically Abate, but it conducts signals so accurately. If you go on YouTube, you can find a mouse and said it's spinal cord severed completely, injected with graphene, the spinal signals transmitted so accurately that the you see the mouse doing cartwheels by the end of the YouTube measure. I mean, it's material that's going to transform all industries, from real estate to medicine to surgery to electronics. Electronics been kind of the spearhead of our economy, of the transformation and electronics may be more significant than any other domain. Keith Weinhold 18:49 Well, this is a terrific overview of all the contributions you're making to both the economic world and the technology world with what you told us about right there. And I do want to ask you some more about the graphene and the technology later. But you know, if we bring it back to the economics, it was in your classic book, Wealth and Poverty, which sold over a million copies, where you espouse a lot of the same things that you still espouse today in your more recent books, that is, capitalism begins with giving, we can often think of it that way. As a real estate investor is where we need to give tenants a clean, safe, affordable, functional property before we profit. Capitalism begins with giving. George Gilder 19:32 Absolutely. That's a crucial debate I had with Ayn Rand The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged and I say, capitalism is subsist on altruism. I'm concerned for the interests of others, imaginative anticipation of the needs of others. It's an altruistic, generous system, and from that generosity. Stems the amazing manifestations of super abundance that which I've been writing about recently. And super abundance shows, measured by time prices, how many hours a typical worker has to spend to earn the goods and services that sustain its life. Yeah, that's where the real cost has time. Yeah, time is money. Money is time, tokenized time, and measured by time, economic growth has been 50 to just enormously faster than is estimated by any of the GDP numbers. However, measured by time government services or ordinary GDP assumes that every dollar of government spending is worth what it costs. Prices both show that progress in the private sector has been four or five times faster than is estimated by GDP well government time, price of government dominated goods, including, increasingly, healthcare and education, is way less valuable than the cost. It's value subtracted, and certainly trillions of dollars for windmills and solar panels, trillions of dollars of subsidies is a net subtraction of value in the world economy. So I am with Gale Pooley and Tupy, both who wrote a book called Superabundance that I wrote the introduction to, and William Nordhaus, the Nobel laureate from Yale, who really conceived and developed time prices and showed that economic growth is 1000s of times greater than has been estimated by ordinary economic data. This is a time of abundance. It's not a time of scarcity. It's not a time of the dismal science. It's the time of super abundance. Keith Weinhold 22:17 Yes, 100% a lot of that is just the government getting out of the way and really let people be givers, be that go giver and lead with giving, because I have never heard of a society that's taxed its way to prosperity. George Gilder 22:34 Yeah. Well, that's absolutely the case. And I've been talking previously about graphene, which is the great new material that has been discovered of the last a couple decades. It originated, a lot of the science originated in Jim Tour's laboratory. James Tour of Rice University, and he's had scores of companies have emerged from his laboratory, and 18 of them got started in Israel. Israel is really become a leading force in the world economy. And when Israel is in jeopardy, our economy is in jeopardy. We have 100,000 Israeli citizens working in companies in Silicon Valley, 100,000 all the leading American tech companies have outposts in Israel, and now we face what I call the Israel test, which is how you respond to people who are really superior in creativity and accomplishment and intellect, and the appropriate thing to do is emulate them and learn from them. But too many people in the world see success and they want to tear it down, or they think it was stolen from someone else, or it was part of a zero sum game where the riches of one person necessarily come at the expense of someone else, which is the opposite of the truth, the riches proliferate opportunities for others. That's how the economy grows through the creativity and the image of your Creator. Keith Weinhold 24:25 And when you bring up Israel, they're one of many nations that's made strong contributions to society and the economy, and we think about other nations that's been an increasingly relevant conversation these past few years, a lot of that centers on immigration. I'm not an expert on how many people we should let into this country or any of those sort of policy sorts of things, but here is a real estate investing show. I often think about where and how we're going to house all these immigrants, whether they come from Central America or South America or Israel or. Anywhere else. And I know oftentimes you've touted immigrations economic benefits, so I think it's pretty easy for one to see how in the short term, immigrants could be of economic detriment, but tell us more about those long term economic benefits of immigrants coming to the United States. George Gilder 25:17 Immigrants come to the United States and become Americans and contribute American opportunity and wealth. We won the second world war because of immigration of Jewish scientists from Europe to the United States, who led by people like John von Neumann and Oppenheimer who forged the Manhattan Project, and that's really how we won the Second World War, was by accepting brilliant immigrants who wanted to serve America. Now there is a threat today where immigrants come to the United States not to contribute to the United States, but to exploit the United States, or even destroy it, not to go givers. They are givers, and so we want immigrants who are inclined to commit to America and create opportunities for the world, but immigrants who want to tear down America and who believe that America owes them something tend to be less productive and less valuable immigrants and immigrants who really want to destroy western civilization, and the jihadists that we know about are actually a threat to America. So the immigration problem isn't simple, but when we had a system where legal immigrants could apply and enter our country and revitalize it, that was a wonderful system, but having boards of illegal immigrants just pour over the border is not an intelligent way to deal with the desire of people around the world to share an American prosperity. Keith Weinhold 27:13 We've seen several cases in the past year or two where immigrants are given free housing. There are really great case studies about this in Massachusetts and some other places, how they're giving housing before oftentimes, our own Americans, including sometimes retired veterans, are provided with housing. This all comes down to the housing crunch and already having a low housing supply. So what are some more your thoughts about just how much of a layup or a handout should we give new immigrants? George Gilder 27:42 Housing technology is going to be transformed by the material science revolution that is epitomized by graphene, this miracle material I was describing. I think part of the problem is real estate enterprise is over regulated, and there are too many obstacles to the building of innovative new forms of housing. In 20 years, it'll be hard to recognize many of the structures that emerge as a result of real revolution in material science that is epitomized by this graphene age that I've been describing, and that also will transform electronics as well, and part housing can become a kind of computer platform as Elon Musk is transforming the auto business by seeing Tesla is really a new form of computer platform. I believe there's going to be an Elon Musk of real estate who is going to re envisage housing as a new form of building a computer platform that makes intelligent houses of the future that will be both cheaper and more commodious for human life. Keith Weinhold 29:12 Real estate is rather old and slow moving when we think about technology in real estate, maybe what comes to mind are smart thermostats, smart doorbells, or 3d printed homes. When we come back, we're going to learn more about graphene and what it can do in real estate in the nanocosm revolution. Our guest is George Gilder. We talked about economics. We're coming back to talk about technology. I'm your host. Keith Weinhold. Dolph de Roos, listen to get rich education with Keith Weinhold, and don't quit your Daydream. Keith Weinhold 31:32 Welcome back to Get Rich Education. We're joined by an illustrious, legendary guest, George Gilder, among being other things, including a prolific writer. He's also the former speechwriter to presidents Reagan and Nixon. He's got a really illustrious and influential career. George, you've been talking about graphene, something that I don't think our audience is very familiar with, and I'm not either. Tell us about graphene promise in real estate. George Gilder 31:59 Well, back in Manchester, England, in 2004 graphene was first discovered and formulated. It actually was submerged before then, but the Nobel Prizes were awarded to Geim and Novoselov in2010. So this is a new material that all of us know when we use a lead pencil, a lead is graphite, and graphene is a single layer of graphite. And it turns out, many people imagined if you had a single layer of graphite, it would just break up. It would not be useful. Keith Weinhold 32:42 We're talking super thin, like an atom. George Gilder 32:45 Yeah, it's an atom thick, but still, it turns out that it has miraculous properties, that it's 200 times stronger than steel. If you put it in a trampoline, you couldn't see the trampoline, but you could bounce on it without go following through it. It can stop bullets. It means you can have invisible and almost impalpable bulletproof vests, and you mix it with concrete, and the concrete is becomes 35% stronger, even parts per million of graphene can transform the tensile strength of concrete, greatly reduce the amount you need, and enable all sorts of new architectural shapes and capabilities. We really are in the beginning of a new technological age, and all depressionary talk you hear is really going to be eclipsed over coming decades by the emergence of whole an array of new technologies, graphene, for instance, as a perfect film on wafer of silicon carbide and enable what's called terahertz electronics, which is trillions of cycles a second like light rather than billions of cycles a second like or Nvidia or L silicon chips, and it really obviates chips, because you what it allows is what's called wafer scale integration of electronics, and today, it the semiconductor industry, and I've written 10 books on semiconductors over the years, but the semiconductor industry functions by 12 inch wafers that get inscribed with all sorts of complex patterns that are a billionth of a meter in diameter. These big wafers and then the way. First get cut up into 1000s of little pieces that each one gets encapsulated in plastic packages and by some remote Asian islands, and then get implanted on printed circuit boards that arrayed in giant data centers that now can on track to consume half the world's energy over the next 20 years, and these new and all this technology is ultimately going to be displaced by wafer scale integration on The wafer itself. You can have a whole data center on a 12 inch wafer with no chips. It's on the wafer itself. And this has been recently announced in a paper from Georgia Tech by a great scientist named Walter de Heere. And it's thrilling revolution that that render as much as Silicon Valley obsolescent and opens up just huge opportunities in in construction and real estate and architecture and medicine and virtually across the range of contemporary industry. Keith Weinhold 36:20 You wrote a book about blockchain and how we're moving into the post Google world is what you've called it. So is this graphene technology that you're discussing with us here? Is that part of the next thing, which you're calling the nanocosm revolution? George Gilder 36:36 The microcosm was an earlier book the quantum revolution and economics and technology. I thought I wrote years ago called microcosm. Keith Weinhold 36:46 Okay, we're getting smaller than microcosm now in nanocosm. 36:49 that was microns, that was millionths of a meter dimensions of the transistors and devices and silicon chips, the nanocosm is a billionth of the meter. It's 1000 times smaller the features and electronics of the future, and we're moving from the microcosm into the nanocosm. New materials like graphene epitomize this transformation. You know, people think that these giant data centers all around the world, which are amazing structures, but half the energy in these data centers are devoted to removing the heat rather than fueling the computation. And I believe these data centers are represent a kind of IBM mainframe of the current era. When I was coming up, people imagined that a few 100 IBM mainframe computers, each weighing about a ton, would satisfy all the world's needs for computation, and that new artificial minds could be created with these new IBM mainframes. And it's the same thing today, only we're talking about data centers, and I believe that the coming era will allow data centers in your pocket and based on graphene electronics, and wait for scale integration, a whole new paradigm that will make the current data centers look like obsolete, old structures that need to be revitalized. Keith Weinhold 38:37 Around 2007 Americans and much of the world, they got used to how it feels to have the power of a computer in their pocket with devices like the iPhone. How would it change one's everyday life to have effectively a data center in their pocket? 38:54 This means that we no longer would be governments of a few giant companies hearing a singular model of intelligence. That's what's currently envisaged, that Google Brain or Facebook or these giant data setters would sum up all human intelligence and in a particular definition, but there are now 8 billion human beings on earth, and each of our minds is as densely connected as the entire global internet. And while the global Internet consumes error watts, trillions of watts of power, or brains. Each of these 8 billion human minds functions on 12 to 14 watts, or it's billions of times less than these data center systems. On the internet. I believe that technology works to the extent that it expands human capabilities, not to the extent that it displaces human capabilities. The emergence of distributed databases in all our pockets, distributed knowledge and distributed creativity can revitalize the whole world economy and open new horizons that are hard to imagine today, as long as we don't, all of a sudden decide that we live in a material universe where everything is scarce and successes by one person come at the expense of somebody else, as long as that zero sum model doesn't prevail, right? Human opportunities are really unlimited. Most of economics has been based on a false model of scarcity, the only thing that's really scarce is time. Imagination and creativity are really infinite. Keith Weinhold 41:10 Yes, well, if someone wants to learn more about graphene in the nanocosm revolution, how can you help them? What should they do? 41:18 They can read my newsletters. I have a company with four newsletters. I write the Gilder Technology Report. Much of the time I write, John Schroeder writes moonshots, which is and I have a Gilder Private Reserve that reaches out with our crowd and Israel, and a lot of those graph gene companies in Israel are part of our Private Reserve. Jordan made it clear that they are looking to block the addition of 87,000 new IRS agents and to conduct the oversight investigations that the American people deserve. Later, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani joins the show to announce his total vindication in Georgia from the trumped-up charges he was charged with by the Manhattan Prosecutor's Office. Giuliani says they only came after him because he dared to represent President Donald Trump. Afterward, the newly re-elected Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu tells Mark about his most recent win as Prime Minister and the alliances he had to forge to get to it. Netanyahu also discusses the life experiences that inspired his latest memoir, Bibi: My Story. https://www.amazon.com/Bibi-My-Story-Benjamin-Netanyahu/dp/1668008440/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= Learn more about your ad choices. Charlotte's Web Thoughts is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. For a brief period, early in my childhood, I lived in a tiny apartment with my mother, her second husband, a pair of kids each. This was the early ‘90s, and I vaguely remember being in kindergarten at the time. Our apartment complex was one of those highway-adjacent, stacked situations that most resembles a fleshed out Tetris “L” wrapping around—in retrospect—a surprisingly clean parking lot, complete with a tall and gleaming flag pole that jutted out of a centralized island of well manicured grass. I don't remember exactly when it started, but every morning, being the oldest kid and the only one in school, I would stand outside alone waiting for the school bus, not far from the flag pole, and watch as this older gentleman—I believe he was the property manager—carefully unfurl an American flag, fasten it to the halyard, and carefully raise it to the top, always graceful and never in a rush.At some point, one of these mornings, after being captivated a number of times by the sight of this, I began saluting the flag with my little right hand, something which I have to assume I picked up from a TV show because this was just before the internet started becoming commonplace in schools, much less runty apartments housing kids on the free lunch program. This I remember vividly: the gentleman and I never exchanged words, but the first time I did that salute, on my own volition, I had never seen an adult looked so pleased as that man beaming wide at me, this weirdo kid who didn't really know what I was doing when I made that gesture every morning.I vaguely recall my mother marveling over a conversation she had with Mr. Ramirez (the flag-hoisting gentleman) about the saluting because, again, kinda weird for a small kid to be into that.To at least one naïve six year-old's eyes, the American flag was absolutely gorgeous, albeit full of context and complexity which I would only learn much later. It also strangely gave me a feeling that I couldn't quite place at the time and which I only understood later to be: a sense of belonging and security. My parents were a godawful mess, home life was definitely bad on many levels, and this little morning ritual became something of a small celebration. School was a safe place, with structure and empathy and wonder, and that bit of ceremony every morning was a checkpoint-of-sorts. In a sad way, the American flag and the gentleman pulling it up with profound grace and the school bus arriving to our apartment complex all told me that everything was gonna be okay. There was a whole world out there waiting for me to explore it, far beyond the confines of that shitty little apartment with all its misery, full of some kind of goodness I had to assume was there.More than anything, that expectation of structure became a weird catalyst for my interest in American government. I loved reading about our history—not always a complete or honest history at that reading level, mind you—and the political leaders who had shaped our path as a nation, for better or worse.I learned about civics early on. I devoured books in my school library about elections and Congress and presidents and found, quite quickly, that every question answered led to ten more questions in my growing noggin. And like any committed young political dork, it became easier over time to see patterns in our government — not just the rhythms of electoral changeover but knowing bits of information about our government that were available to all but read by few. Having lived in our nation's capital for the past 15 years or so, with tens of thousands of other equally dorky people my age obsessed with government and politics and history, I have noticed over time what can only be described as the slow and incredibly painful devolution of the faith we once held in our institutions.I'm not talking about run-of-the-mill corruption and nonsense. It wasn't as though any of us who had read a few serious presidential biographies had arrived in D.C. expecting a glittering presentation of democratic virtues and elected officials dedicated to preserving them. The old adage about “laws and sausages” was easy enough to respect as a warning, and up to that point, there had certainly been brutal chapters in our history—slavery, Civil War, suffrage, internment of Japanese Americans, Jim Crow, etc.—that stripped away much of the unnecessary varnish. No, I'm talking about the shock of watching our nation increasingly fail to maintain even the already low standards of institutional trust, the collapse of those predictable rhythms in the machinations of political power, the invariably problematic but broadly expected outcomes of a system that was broken, to be sure, but very far from shattered. For nearly five decades, Gallup has surveyed public confidence in our institutions, and just over the past 20 years—2002 being the starting point, I turned 16 that fall—trust has eroded dramatically across the board, as reflected in the combined total of “great deal/quite a lot” responses from everyday Americans:Organized religion has gone from 45 percent to 31 percent.Trust in the Supreme Court has been cleanly halved: 50 percent to 25 percent.Congress has taken a particularly dismal trend: 29 percent to a mere 7 percent.Television news has dropped from 35 percent to 11 percent, and newspapers have slid 35 percent to 16 percent. The Presidency, as an institution, went from a high of 58 percent to this year's 23 percent, its lowest mark in the history of the annual poll, going back consistently to 1991. To be fair, that was in the aftermath of 9/11, so, perhaps the previous year's 48 percent is more accurate, but still: that's more than half. Even the military, the country's most trusted federal institution, is at its lowest level of trust in more than 20 years. Gallup has asked Americans another question semi-frequently since 1979: “In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?”If you scan through the timeline of reported surveys, it's easy to notice where low numbers in American satisfaction coincided with less-than-great moments in our recent history (some examples): 12 percent, 19 percent, and 17 percent over the time of Pres. Carter's twin crises — the oil shortage and the detainment of American hostages by the Iranian government during 1979-81; 14 percent in the summer of 1992 over recession struggles; a stark 7 percent at the height of the Great Recession in 2008; and 13 percent in the summer of 2020, as the nation grappled with COVID lockdowns and massive protests in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by law enforcement and Trump's steadfast incompetence in the face of all of it.The latest figure is 13 percent, surveyed over the first three weeks of June, down from 36 percent a little over a year ago, right as Pres. Biden implemented the final withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. It's important to note this latest survey was completed just four days before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, so the next iteration of these figures will certainly be a fascinating gut punch. Those numbers give us a snapshot of context for this era, but they're wholly unnecessary to feel that pervasive sense of uneasiness throughout American society. It's not just that times are bad; it's that it feels as though there's an increasing chance things may not get better if something doesn't change.Ardent students of American politics have always been able to point to the Pendulum Theory as a crude way of illustrating where our government has come from and where it's going: basically, you wait long enough, the balance of power will shift from left-of-center to right-of-center and back and forth over time. The pendulum may stall or take its sweet time, but it always comes back. It also suggests Americans, in free and fair elections, will usually split party control between the White House and Congress. For example, even though Presidents Reagan and Bush 41 crushed their Democratic opponents in three consecutive presidential elections, Democratic House Speaker Tip O'Neill held an iron grip on his chamber during their tenures. The ‘90s saw the inverse: Pres. Clinton became the first Democratic president properly reelected since FDR (two consecutive top-of-ticket victories) while the GOP took over the House for the first time in 40 years (and held it). Here's another one: the party of a first-term president almost always loses seats in the House during Midterms. The sole recent exception was Pres. Bush in 2002, whose party gained eight more seats on the strength of his post-9/11 approval rating. There are countless examples of these patterns, and in a strange way, they can be somewhat comforting in especially dark times. The Bush Administration, as horrific and brutal as it was, still carried the implication of the pendulum swinging back at some point. And swing back it did: Democrats regained Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008.After the shock of 2016, the pendulum prevailed again: Trump's party lost Congress in 2018 in what was recognized as both a backlash against his terrible policies and as part of the long pattern of the president's party negotiating the public's desire for split power. But for the first time in my life, I am at the point where I must fully question whether the pendulum exists anymore, and it scares me.That will be discussed in Part II on Friday.Hi, I'm Charlotte Clymer, and this is Charlotte's Web Thoughts, my Substack. This week, Jon Murchison, Blackpoint's founder and CEO, welcomes Brigadier General Jonathan George to our podcast. He has had an impressive and extensive career, including roles as pilot-in-command and deputy commanding general, and two assignments to the White House. He is presently the Director of Strategic Capabilities Policy for the National Security Council (NSC) in Washington, D.C. In this episode, Brig. Gen. George talks about his staff assignments including with his time with the U.S. Air Force and in Afghanistan, serving under Presidents Reagan, GHW Bush, and Obama, and shares about the national decision-making process involved in all his years. They also discuss staying on top of technology and establishing the right vision as a leader. And of course, he talks about what it's really like flying a U-2, B-1, and B-2 jet. The Honorable David M. Walker joins T.J. O'Hara, host of Deconstructed, to discuss our country's foreign and domestic economic challenges and President Biden's proposed budget, and he certainly has the background to do it. For nearly ten years, Mr. Walker served as Comptroller General of the United States and head of the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) under Presidents Clinton and Bush (43). In addition to serving these appointments for Democratic and Republican Administrations, he also received nominations from Presidents Reagan and Bush (41) for other appointments and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate each time (as he was for Comptroller General). The discussion begins with Mr. Walker commenting on recent revisions he made to his 2020 book, America in 2040: Still a Superpower? He shares why he thinks our Nation's withdrawal from Afghanistan will accelerate the challenge that China presents. He also addresses why he predicted that Russia would invade Ukraine after the Winter Olympics (which came to pass) and his related concerns about China doing the same with regard to Taiwan.

He's an expert on immigration and refugee resettlement. His articles have been published in Accuracy in Media, American Thinker, Breitbart, Daily Caller, Epoch Times, Washington Times, WND.com and elsewhere. However, what are we to make of it- Who's telling the truth- For example, according to Simpson, Ukraine claimed they killed 11,000 Russians within the first week or so of the fighting, while more recent reports put the figure at about 2,000. He also has inside information claiming that there's been at least an equal number of Ukrainians that have been killed. This confusion should come as no surprise as Simpson noted that the Russians are masters at deception and propaganda and the Ukrainians aren't far behind. --Is Putin seeking to restore the glory of the old Soviet Union- Simpson believes this is both true and false. While they do have every intention of doing that, he views the fall of the Soviet Union as having been a -false-flag- operation. It was orchestrated from the top as it followed an ancient Chinese war philosophy that attempts to deny your enemy an enemy. --Get the answers to these questions, and find out how listeners feel.

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. The reason Presidents Reagan and Trump practiced the national security policy they called “peace through strength” is that it works. Alternatives, like Joe Biden's – which might be called “peace through groveling” – never has. Look no further than Team Biden's maniacal pursuit of a new nuclear deal with the mullahs of Iran. There appears to be no limit to the concessions and humiliations the Iranian regime is prepared to demand – and that Biden and Company are willing to accommodate. Even a salvo of ballistic missiles launched from Iran into the immediate vicinity of a U.S. consulate in Iraq is no impediment to further appeasement in the name of preventing Tehran from getting The Bomb. Unfortunately, there is no hope – none – that ayatollahs committed for over four decades to bringing “Death to America” will forego the most efficient means of inflicting it. Enough already. This is Frank Gaffney.
Lou's guest Chris Carlson has worked in the White House Press Corps for 38 years and covered Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump for ABC News as a Photojournalist. He also authored the eBook "9/11 With POTUS "that chronicled covering the first 5 days of 9/11 alongside President George Bush. Chris tells Lou both funny and intense stories from the White House, his time spent on Air Force One, who's his favorite president during his 38 years and why, and the Presidential use on social media. This show is about trying to fix heavy societal problems in a practical way, using common sense logic, and reasoning. Lou brings his perspective as a former police officer, global personal security specialist to some of the most iconic companies and individuals on the planet. However, Lou's most important perspective as a father. In the end, it's about us handing over a better place for the next generation. Our show is interactive with our audience, callers, and renowned guests. No topics are ignored, however, be prepared to get an earful and interact as there are no sound-bite answers to these meaningful questions. Our show is passionate yet not snarky nor patronizing – we listen to both sides, ask relevant questions, stay on topic, and then Lou chimes in with a recap and practical breakdown with problem-solving that lays out a foundation for change – “heavy lifting” rather than kicking the can down the road. In 1984 he was the Democratic Party's nominee for president of the united states. As a Senator, Mondale had been the primary sponsor of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 – transformative legislation that outlawed the Refusal to sell or rent a dwelling to any person because of their race, color, religion or national origin.Walter Mondale was the first vice president to have an office in the White House and established the concept of an "activist Vice President." He began the tradition of weekly lunches with the president, which continues to this day. More importantly, he expanded the vice president's role from figurehead to presidential advisor, full-time participant, and troubleshooter for the administration. Subsequent vice presidents have followed this model.[38In 1984 he made history as the Democratic presidential nominee when he selected New York Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate. Making her the first woman on a national ticketIn August of 2019, we had the honor and privilege of spending some with former Vice President Mondale as Joe Lockhart and I traveled to Minneapolis to interview him for Words Matter. Joe had served in a senior position on Mondale’s 1984 Presidential Campaign and as far as Walter Mondale was concerned - that made him part of the family, literally. They had kept in touch over the years. The former Vice President regularly held events and get togethers with his former staffers where ever he traveled - and Joe had always attended no matter how busy he was. At 91, Mondale was still very sharp and as always polite, courteous and inquisitive. He asked about Joe’s wife and children by name and remembered small details about their last visit that Joe himself had forgotten. He wanted to understand all he could about how podcasts worked, how many people listened, and why they were popular. What impressed me most about him were his humility, self awareness and introspection. While most politicians can muster faux humility – during a campaign – that was not what Walter Mondale was all about. As with everything else - he was sincere and genuine. Mondale was brutally honest and realistic about why his 1984 campaign had been soundly defeated. Even with the microphones turned off, he was complimentary of former Presidents Reagan and George HW Bush - And unlike like most politicians- he took full responsibility (even for things that were not his fault) for the historic loss to Ronald Reagan. As we got ready to leave, the former Vice President was the embodiment of Minnesota Nice - he thanked us for making the trip, told us how much he enjoyed the interview, made Joe promise to send his regards to his family and even asked if we were all set with ride to airport. As he walked us to the elevator - he shook my hand and gave Joe a hug and told us both to “keep up the good fight”. Last weekend - just days before his passing Walter Mondale sent a final message to his staff:Dear Team,Well my time has come. I am eager to rejoin Joan and Eleanor. Before I Go I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me. Never has a public servant had a better group of people working at their side!Together we have accomplished so much and I know you will keep up the good fight.Joe in the White House certainly helps.I always knew it would be okay if I arrived some place and was greeted by one of you!My best to all of you!FritzWith that let’s listen to Joe Lockhart’s interview with the late, great former Vice President - Walter Mondale. Meet Allan Kurtz, Managing Director of both Gotham Hall & Ziegfeld Ballroom, after three years at The Water’s Edge and 13 years at Tavern on The Green. To say he is a wealth of information would be a vast understatement. He is heavily involved with petitioning the government for aid to our $1.3 Trillion Event Industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. He’s actually an “event historian” working with Hollywood impresario Warner LeRoy at Tavern On The Green, and studying Broadway impresario Flo Ziegfeld when helping to create Ziegfeld Ballroom. In the course of our wide-ranging conversation we talk about meeting Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Obama as well as a moving story about being in a position to put his grandfather on the phone with Willie Mays. This specific episode is a “must-listen” for anyone in, or interested in the Events Industry.

This is going to be hard for those who haven't read any of the books ("Backstage Pass to the Flipside" or "Architecture of the Afterlife.") I can only say that Jennifer and I never discuss who we are going to talk to our about. And in light of the fact that we've spoken to former Presidents before, I figured they might want to chat about the events in the Capitol yesterday.I wasn't surprised that John McCain (Maverick) stopped by, but that led to a free wheeling all encompassing discussion that will no doubt offend pretty much everyone who is not familiar with this research, or what happens on the flipside. We speak to and with, in no particular order, John, former Presidents Reagan, Truman stop by to put in their two cents. JFK has something to say as well as Jackie. Malcolm X stopped by as well as Martin Luther King.I can only suggest considering this a fantasy if one has never listened to this podcast before. I would consider allowing that's its possible that our loved ones don't disappear. But I would recommend reading up on the topic before passing judgment on what they have to say - which is in line with the reports in "Flipside" "It's a Wonderful Afterlife," "Hacking the Afterlife" and "Architecture of the Afterlife."Jennifer and I had interviewed a number of these people before - but not Truman or Malcolm X. I apologize in advance for not asking more and deeper questions of them... but this is literally on the fly as they stop by. The point of our podcast is to demonstrate how easy it is to reach out to our loved ones - and no, neither of us discussed this session prior. It is what it is. I hope their message about coming together and using this opportunity to take out the broom, and to focus on loving our neighbors as ourselves - is taken to heart. And the two people Luana refer to in her answer to my question - absolutely accurate - and Jennifer has no clue as to whom I'm referring to. Hope this helps people on the planet when they come across it.

Be thankful for the simple gifts found in relationships. They show us how to relate to God, ourselves, and others. They are a great gift. Hello everyone and welcome to episode 79, our Thanksgiving episode. Imagine for a minute it’s Thanksgiving Day here in the US, and you are sitting around the table with your family eating your Thanksgiving dinner, and you ask everyone around the table what they are thankful for this past year. I say “imagine” because Dr. Fauci and others have urged us to avoid family get-togethers altogether. Without regard to what you decide to do in this matter, how would you complete the sentence starting with, “In 2020 I am thankful for….”? What are you thankful for? I’m not a music guy, but for me, my answer comes from a song of all places. A song I first learned in 7th grade from my music teacher, Miss Luck. It’s a song that could help all of us see Thanksgiving in a new light, in ways that will get us through Black Friday, and carry us on to the rest of the year. After 7th grade, the next time this same particular song reappeared for me happened in12th grade, during Mr. Dominguez’s music appreciation class when we listened to Aaron Copeland’s Appalachian Spring. Copeland captivated me with how he weaved this Shaker folk melody throughout his orchestral suite. I think about this tune every Thanksgiving. It's about being thankful for simple gifts found in relationships. Simple Gifts ‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free ’tis the gift to come down where you ought to be And when we find ourselves in the place just right ‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gained To bow and to bend we shan’t be ashamed To turn, turn will be our delight ‘Till by turning, turning we come round right. ‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free ’tis the gift to come down where you ought to be And when we find ourselves in the place just right ‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight. History of the song “Simple Gifts” is the name of the song and was written in 1848 by Joseph Brackett, a Shaker elder. The Shakers were a religious sect that believed in the imminent return of Jesus Christ. They got their name from the wild and spirited dances they incorporated into their worship services. “Simple Gifts” is one of these dance songs. It involved a lot of bowing, bending, and turning. It was quite spirited, and there was a whole lot of shakin’ going on (I wonder if Elvis was a Shaker) as it was sung. I prefer the slower, more reflective version that is usually sung today. The melody first became popular when it was incorporated into Aaron Copland’s, Appalachian Spring in 1944 that I mentioned before. It later made its way into church hymnals, and into secular culture in 1970 when folk singer Judy Collins popularized it in her nationwide concert tour. The idea of being thankful for simple gifts found in relationships really caught on. “Simple Gifts” was sung at the inauguration of both Presidents Reagan and Clinton, and also at the funeral of President Richard Nixon. And most famously, the tune was taught by Miss Luck’s to my 7th-grade music class. Here's my take on the meaning of the song and what it has to say to us in the 21st century: ‘Tis the gift to be simple Simplicity is a gift. Apple, the iPhone maker, doesn’t necessarily make the best products, but they work very hard to make them the most simple for their customers to use. Steve Jobs quote: “Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” It’s a gift when good communicators make complex ideas simple. Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again.” JFK’s 1960 inauguration speech, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you do for your country.” What a gift Kennedy gave America in articulating his vision for America. Jesus was a master at making profound things simple. We see that in Matthew 22: 36-40 “An expert in religious law, trying to trap Jesus, asked 'which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?' Jesus replied, ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.'” It’s a gift to communicate simple, uncomplicated truths like this. Simplicity is indeed a gift. It’s something to be valued. Simplicity in our relationships is something to be protected. We can be thankful for simple gifts found in relationships. It’s a gift to be simple. 'tis the gift to be free ’tis the gift to come down where you ought to be It’s a gift to be free to live out Romans 12:3 to, “Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.” There’s freedom in being who you are, and not something you are not To “come down” is a good thing. It’s an act of willful humility. The implication is there is the right place for us, the right lane, a sweet spot for each of us. To discover and live in that sweet spot is a real gift And when we find ourselves in the place just right ‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight. Negative connotations to valleys, (Psalm 23, the “valley of darkness.”) But there’s an upside to valley experiences Mt. Pilatus in the Swiss Alps outside Lucerne, Switzerland. Magnificent view, clouds over the mountain tops in the distance. But you can’t see much down the mountain top or the valley. Clouds block the view Better, more majestic view looking up, rather than looking down There’s protection in the valley, not on the mountain top When true simplicity is gained To bow and to bend we shan’t be ashamed When we are living in true simplicity, we can be humble, we can change our mind, and be flexible. We can admit we’re wrong, and we can elevate others, and celebrate this quality as a virtue, and not look at it as a weakness To defer to others won’t break us, it may bend us a bit, but it won’t break us What great relationship principles found in this catchy little tune. That we can be thankful for simple gifts found in relationships. To turn, turn will be our delight ‘Till by turning, turning we come round right. Turning is what repentance is all about. To turn from one direction to go in another When we’re willing to change, and repent, we will be the person God intends for us to be It’s not just a good thing to turn, it’s a delightful thing, it will bring a smile to our souls. And a smile to God’s face. There you have it, this Shaker tune sums it up for me. It’s easy to be thankful for the abundance in our lives. That’s not hard at all. What’s more challenging is to be grateful for the gifts found in simplicity, to be grateful in the valley, rather than the mountain top. To appreciate being at the bottom of the pile, rather than the top. To find joy in differing to others, and taking pleasure in being the person God created me to be. It is so rewarding as we are thankful for simple gifts like these found in our relationships. If you forget everything else, here’s the one thing I hope you remember from today’s episode. Be thankful for the gift of relational simplicity. It shows us how to relate to God, ourselves, and others. It’s a true source of love and delight. What we can all do in response to today’s program? We can start by asking God to show us things about ourselves we don’t see. To make the invisible to us visible. Ask Jesus to help us see ourselves as he does, and as others do. Be grateful to God for the simple things in life, ask Him to help us come down to the place we ought to be so we can experience the love and delight He has in mind for us. It’s not our inclination to do this; we need God’s help. Look for ways we can unashamedly bow and bend to our own desires in our relationships. Look for the simplicity in deferring to others. Ask God to help us find delight in turning from selfish ways of relating to him, to others, and ourselves. As always, another thing you could do is let me and your fellow listeners know what resonated with you about today’s episode. You can share your thoughts in the “Leave a Reply” box at the bottom of the show notes. Or you can send them to me in an email to john@caringforothers.org. Closing I hope your thinking was stimulated by today’s show, to both reflect and to act. So that you will find the joy God intends for you through the simple gifts found in your relationships. Because after all, You Were Made for This. Our Relationship Quote of the Week “I am not a genius, I am just curious. I ask many questions. and when the answer is simple, then God is answering.” ~ Albert Einstein That’s all for today. It’s been great being with you. And no matter where in the world you are, and no matter if you celebrate the US holiday of Thanksgiving or not, do yourself a favor and be grateful for the simple gifts in your life. Goodbye for now. ITER means "the way" in Latin, but 35 countries around the globe know ITER as one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world. Robert Pearce, Section Leader, Vacuum Delivery & Installation Section for the ITER Organization, spoke about the drive to create net energy from a fusion device. “Initially, ITER got started from a discussion between Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev at the end of the Cold War,” Pearce said. “Their vision was to start an international project that would produce fusion energy.” Seven international partners from 35 countries and several more associated countries form ITER. Throughout all these nations, more than 1,000 companies participate in creating ITER’s fusion machine, Tokamak. Through hard work, scientific know-how and tremendous collaboration, ITER hopes to harness the same energy that powers the universe. Fusion energy is a sustainable fuel with the potential of changing the game for humanity. “It’s an admirable goal to have clean, sustainable energy, but it’s not that easy,” Pearce said. “If it were easy, it would have already been done.” ITER’s mission is to figure out the challenges that come with harnessing the sun's power without the size and scale in which the sun burns energy and the gravitational forces that go along with it.

Douglas H. Paal is a distinguished fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He previously served as vice chairman of JPMorgan Chase International (2006–2008). He was on the National Security Council staffs of Presidents Reagan and George H. W. Bush between 1986 and 1993 as director of Asian Affairs and then as senior director and special assistant to the president. According to Mr. Paal, from 1980 until mid-1990, ASEAN countries were more compliant and receptive about human and labor rights records. This has happened because the US, Europe and Japan were the principal trade partners of ASEAN countries and they pretended such high standards. Nowadays China appears to be the dominant actor in the region and Southeast Asian countries have leverage against the western moralistic approach regarding trade deals. However, despite demanding high labor and human rights standard in exchange of trade advantages is not negative at all, in some cases, it can be wrong and even paternalistic: this is the case of palm oil. Indonesia and Malaysia, in fact, are de facto blocking the creation of a strategic partnership between ASEAN and EU because the latter is not willing to buy palm oil over unjustified health and environmental issues. According to Paal, on the palm oil issue science is absolutely in the side of Indonesia and Malaysia. Speaking about the American engagement with Southeast Asia, Mr Paal reminded the period between 1980 and late 1990, when American investment bankers and businessmen were flooding in Jakarta, Singapore and Bangkok hotels to finalize important deals. Southeast Asia was considered back then the future of the world economy, until 1997, when the bubble burst. From that point, the US attention shifted to China and only once in a blue moon an American official lands in Southeast Asia, as Mike Pompeo did some weeks ago. On the contrary, EU and single European countries, like Germany, Italy and France, can be better-positioned towards Southeast Asia. However, they lack in strategic approach and their moves seem more tactical and not long-term oriented. In addition, southern countries like Greece, Italy and Spain are getting so much entangled with China and BRI that they need to keep their partnerships with Southeast Asia to a lower level than in the past.

These stories sometimes involve the first four CEOs of Intel – Dr. Robert Noyce, Dr. Gordon Moore, Dr. Andrew Grove, and Dr. Craig Barrett. These are three of the four founders of the company. Dr. Noyce is the co-inventor of the integrated circuit (computer chip). Dr. Moore is famous for “Moore's Law.” Dr. Grove was Time Man of the Year in 1997. Dr. Barrett is a former professor at Stanford University. All four are men of exceptional intelligence and high integrity. Inside each story is a “lesson” or a “moral to the story.” At the end of the talk, Mr. Maibach will explore with our audience what some of those lessons were and remain today. Our well-dressed regular commentator Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times has been musing on corporate dress. And we're joined throughout the programme by two guests on opposite sides of the Pacific; Anjani Trivedi, Columnist for WSJ Heard on the Street who's in Singapore, and Richard Wolff, professor of economics emeritus at the University of Massachusetts and founder of Democracy at Work in New York. Recently a friend suggested that President Trump may be the Antichrist. This is not the first time I have heard such a statement. In the years I have been a Christian, people have told me that the Pope, Henry Kissinger, and Presidents Reagan and Obama were the Antichrist. So who is the Antichrist and is he alive today? Let's dive into the Bible and see if we can answer this question. Your Takeaway Use biblical wisdom, not common opinion, to discern the person of the Antichrist. Spirit of the Antichrist The Antichrist is alive today as the Spirit of the Antichrist. What is the spirit of the Antichrist? Any person who denies that God the Son, Jesus, has come in the flesh to the world. - 1 John 4:3; 2 John 1:7 This deception, the denial of deity and manhood of God the Son and His saving mission to the earth has overtaken the western world. So, yes, the spirit of the Antichrist is alive and well today. The Antichrist Human Origin There is an actual person who will be the Antichrist. The Bible gives different names to the Antichrist. They are: The Seed of Satan - Genesis 3:15 The Little Horn - Daniel 7:8 The King of Fierce Countenance - Daniel 8:23 The Prince that Shall Come - Daniel 9:26 The Desolator - Daniel 9:27 The Willful King - Daniel 11:36 The Man of Sin - 2 Thessalonians 2:3 The Son of Perdition - 2 Thessalonians 2:3 The Lawless One - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 The Antichrist - 1 John 2:22 The Beast - Revelation 11:7; 13:1-10 From some of these passages, we can deduce the origin of the Antichrist. Revelation 13:1-10 - The Beast comes out of the sea. The sea stands for the gentile nations. Daniel 7:8, 19-26 - The Little Horn of Daniel is a blasphemous human ruler that rises out of the revived fourth empire to rule over Israel. The four are: The Babylonian Empire The Medo-Persian Empire The Greek Empire The Roman Empire Daniel 9:27 - We learned in an earlier episode that the seven-year tribulation period will start with Israel signing a seven-year covenant with the Antichrist. This predicted Antichrist is the "prince who is to come" in Daniel 9:26. This verse identifies his nationality as the same who destroyed the Jerusalem and the Temple. Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in A.D. 70. The human origin of the Antichrist will be Roman. Supernatural Origin Genesis 3:15 - This passage teaches that the Messiah, the offspring of the woman, will be in conflict with the offspring of Satan. 2 Thessalonians 2:9 - The Antichrist will come forth by the "workings of Satan." The Antichrist will come to be by Satanic power or means. Three options: Satan will impregnate a woman. (Fruchtenbaum, 212-213) Two humans will conceive a child, but at the moment of conception, Satan will enter a woman's womb and be a part of the creation and gestation of this child. (Adso of Montier-En-Der) Totally human but possessed and controlled by Satan. Regardless, he will have supernatural power that will deceive many and keep them from salvation. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 So the Antichrist will be of Roman origin and have supernatural powers. That rules out President Trump. Please Visit If you want to know more about Wakefield Valley Bible Church please visit WakefieldBible.org. In this episode of the Conservative Conscience, Daniel spills his heart out on the state of the courts, what conservatives are looking for, and why Gorsuch, although a solid nominee, still doesn’t inspire full confidence that he is the best we could have done, given GOP control of the Senate. Then again, with a Senate full of RINOs, who could have scuttled the nomination of someone in the mold of Clarence Thomas, could you really blame Trump? Moreover, the entire process demonstrate why we will never really fix the courts simply by “picking better judges.” “The capacity of a good judge to do good is nowhere near the capacity of a bad judge to harm our constitution, society, sovereignty, and security. Even if we had a Clarence Thomas for every Republican SCOTUS pick and for every lower court pick, an impossibility (they don’t exist), we could never combat the malfeasance of the left. The equivalent on the right of what the left does to advance their malevolent agenda through the courts would be to force people to own guns and to throw homosexuals and transgenders in jail. This is one of the many reasons why we will not fix the judiciary by picking “good judges” alone; we need wholesale judicial reform. Finally, Daniel praises Trump for staying the course but expresses concern about his enthusiastic embrace of Obama’s discriminatory policy of cutting off government contracts with businesses that don’t promote the transgender agenda. The entire reason why we want to win back the courts is so they don’t promote social transformation without representation. Yet, Trump is now codifying it on his own. While we will continue to defend his courage on immigration, we must demand that social conservatives and even social libertarians are not sidelined by the Marxist cultural warriors. Key Quotes: “What it evidences is the deep and perhaps irremediable corruption of our legal culture’s conception of constitutional interpretation.” ~ Justice Alito “On the evidence, we must conclude, I think, that this tendency of courts, including the Supreme Court, is the inevitable result of our written Constitution and the power of judicial review. Even in the depths of the Warren Court era some of us thought that the Court’s performance, though profoundly illegitimate, could be brought within the range of the minimally acceptable by logical persuasion or the appointment of more responsible judges, or both. We now know that was an illusion. A Court majority is impervious to arguments about its proper behavior. It seems safe to say that, as our institutional arrangements now stand, the Court can never be made a legitimate element of a basically democratic polity.” “Republican Presidents have used the nomination process in an effort to change the direction of the Court with almost zero results on the major issues. After twelve years of Presidents Reagan and Bush, each of whom made a determined effort to appoint Justices who would abide by the Constitution as originally understood, we seem farther than ever from a restrained Court.” ~Robert Bork Show links: Rep. All the Rabbis have been wrong for 2,000 years. The Math of Christ uses the fundamental tenets of science to prove conclusively that Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecies about the coming Messiah for all people. Predictions written centuries before the birth of Christ describe how man can identify the only valid offer of salvation and eternal life for all mankind. True Christians already possess sufficient faith in Christ as the Messiah. This book is written for those technical people and children whose faith may be challenged by science taught in public schools. The Math of Christ will show you how the odds of forty prophecies about the Messiah could not possibly have happened by accident, but rather had to have been the result of a purposeful design. The Father of Mathematical Probability, Dr. Emil Borel confirms that these events were no grand coincidence. Readers will also discover how many other prophecies in the Bible have already come true, how the Bible is full of science knowledge revealed centuries before man actually discovered these facts, how the Earth was made specifically for man to live in and how life would be impossible if very minor changes were made in its existence. Every Christian will want to read The Math of Christ to strengthen their own faith. They will also want a copy for every person they have tried to witness to and reach.
