This week on Market Mondays, we're breaking down a pivotal moment in the markets. After Apple, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft reported earnings, we're asking: are these tech giants still long-term compounders, or are buybacks and creative accounting hiding peak performance? Alphabet's $70 billion stock buyback is under the spotlight, and Tesla's stock jumped on Robotaxi hype — even as its fundamentals weakened. Elon Musk says Tesla doesn't need to buy Uber, but is that a strategic power move or a missed opportunity in autonomous transport? Meanwhile, Huawei's new AI chip spooked Nvidia investors — are cracks forming in the king of semis, or will U.S. geopolitics protect its dominance?Beyond tech, we explore the consumer and macro landscape. Spotify is nearing a breakout — is this real growth or macro-fueled momentum? ARK Innovation is surging again — is Cathie Wood making a comeback or just catching a Nasdaq wave? Domino's missed on same-store sales, DoorDash made a $3.6B bid for Deliveroo, and e.l.f. just bought Hailey Bieber's Rhode brand for $1B. Is global consolidation the next growth phase in food delivery? Are influencer-led beauty brands the future — or a risky bet on hype? And with Monster, Celsius, and Vita Coco battling for beverage dominance, who really has the edge in a slowing economy? We also dive into the economic outlook. U.S. GDP contracted by -0.2%, inflation appears mild but sentiment is at historic lows, and Treasury yields are climbing. Are we heading into recession, stagflation, or just a soft patch? Is now the time to rotate into risk or go defensive? Gold topped $3,400, oil prices dipped despite demand, and Palantir landed a $795M federal AI contract — is this the beginning of a broader AI-government integration wave? Plus, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq surging while the Dow lags behind, we ask: is this the start of a real breakout — or another trap before the next downturn?Link to Invest Fest: https://investfest.com#MarketMondays #Tesla #Alphabet #Nvidia #Spotify #ARKK #EarningsSeason #StockMarket #Investing #Inflation #Recession #Gold #Oil #Palantir #ElonMusk #CathieWood #TechStocks #BigTech #AI #ConsumerSpending #BondsSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/marketmondays/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this episode, host Reese Tisdale is joined by Bluefield Senior Analyst Amber Walsh, who shares insights from her latest research on the growing water demands of high tech. With billions in investment flowing into semiconductor fabs and data centers, these sectors are becoming major players in the water space—and are quietly reshaping infrastructure strategy from the ground up. Bluefield's water experts unpack key trends, including: The increasing reliance on ultrapure water and advanced reuse systems in next-gen semiconductor manufacturing. How the rise of artificial intelligence is intensifying thermal loads, forcing data centers to adopt more water-intensive cooling technologies—and driving new investment in water management. The emergence of Water-as-a-Service models and public-private partnerships, as firms like Intel, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services rethink how they finance and manage water infrastructure. This episode offers a clear view of how data centers and semiconductor fabs are becoming central to the conversation around water strategy—and why utilities, investors, and vendors should be paying close attention. We sit down with Steve Ballmer, the legendary former Microsoft CEO and owner of the LA Clippers, for an epic conversation covering his 34 years at Microsoft. Steve listened to our Microsoft episodes and had some thoughts to share — and boy, did he deliver. Steve takes us point-by-point through the original IBM DOS deal that started everything, how he built Microsoft's enterprise business from scratch, and offers his candid reflections on missing mobile and search. We also cover the story behind “developers, developers, developers”, the complexities of his relationship with Bill Gates (including a year where they didn't speak), and why he ultimately decided to step down as CEO. Plus, we learn why Steve has held onto his Microsoft stock through it all — giving him arguably the best investment track record in the world over the last 10 years with his net worth growing from $20B to $130B since leaving. And of course, we couldn't resist also talking about his other passion: the Clippers and Intuit Dome. Reaching Human Equivalency with Agentic AI: A Real-World Look at Security Outcomes | An eSentire Brand Story With Dustin Hillard

As Chief Technology Officer at eSentire, Dustin Hillard brings a deeply rooted background in AI and machine learning—going back over 15 years—to the practical challenges of cybersecurity. In this episode, Hillard discusses how his team is using agentic AI not for the sake of hype, but to augment real human workflows and achieve measurable, high-impact outcomes for clients. The conversation begins with a critical point: AI should be an enabler, not a shiny object. Hillard contrasts the superficial marketing claims that dominate vendor messaging with the grounded, transparent approach his team takes—an approach that fuses technology with hands-on human expertise to deliver results.eSentire's focus is on containment and control. In over 99% of intrusion cases, their platform successfully stops threats at the first host. That is the benchmark by which Hillard wants AI judged—not by its novelty or buzz, but by whether it helps security teams stop attacks before damage spreads.Key to achieving this is the way automation is used to supercharge analysts. Instead of running just three or five high-value queries in a 15-minute response window, eSentire's AI framework runs 30. This allows the system to comb through a customer's historical data, generate hypotheses based on broader knowledge bases, and deliver structured, contextual findings. Analysts can then focus on judgment and decision-making, not searching logs or assembling fragments.Three pillars underpin this approach: direct telemetry gathering from tools like CrowdStrike and Microsoft, threat intelligence correlation, and contextual data from the customer environment. These layers combine to offer rich insights, fast. And importantly, the AI doesn't operate in a black box. Hillard stresses explainability and auditability—every recommendation must be traceable back to concrete evidence, not just LLM-generated summaries. He also touches on the eight assessment areas his team uses to evaluate AI readiness and safety: from autonomy and guardrails to data privacy, effectiveness metrics, and adversarial resilience. The point isn't to convince customers with buzzwords, but to earn trust by demonstrating measurable results and opening the door to real conversations.By encoding the investigative playbooks of seasoned analysts and executing them dynamically, agentic AI at eSentire isn't replacing humans—it's empowering them to respond faster and more accurately. That's the difference between checking a marketing box and actually making a difference when every second counts.Guest: Dustin Hillard | CTO, eSentire | https://www.linkedin.com/in/dustinhillard/RESOURCESSorry We're So Good: An Open Letter: https://itspm.ag/esentire-sorry4ekVisit the eSentire Website to learn more: https://itspm.ag/esentire-594149Learn more and catch more stories from eSentire on ITSPmagazine: https://www.itspmagazine.com/directory/esentireLearn more about ITSPmagazine Brand Story Podcasts: https://www.itspmagazine.com/purchase-programsNewsletter Archive: https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/tune-into-the-latest-podcasts-7109347022809309184/Business Newsletter Signup: https://www.itspmagazine.com/itspmagazine-business-updates-sign-upAre you interested in telling your story?https://www.itspmagazine.com/telling-your-story______________________Keywords: dustin hillard, sean martin, marco ciappelli, cybersecurity, ai, machine learning, automation, investigation, containment, transparency, brand story, brand marketing, marketing podcast, brand story podcast

Our next guest, Kent Dicks, is revolutionizing this approach as CEO of Life365. With over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience and a pioneering legacy in mobile health since 2006, Kent has dedicated his career to transforming reactive healthcare into proactive, predictive care. As a recognized thought leader who has testified before Congress on mHealth solutions for veterans, Kent combines deep technical expertise with an unwavering passion for improving patient outcomes. Through Life365's innovative Digital Health as a Service platform and strategic partnership with Microsoft, he's creating scalable solutions that connect patients, providers, and AI-driven insights seamlessly. Join us to discover how Kent's vision is shifting healthcare upstream, keeping patients healthy at home, and preparing our industry for the coming demographic tsunami. Let's go!Episode Highlights:Healthcare spending will approach $6 trillion by 2027, with 80% of seniors having chronic diseases requiring proactive managementLife365's cellular-enabled devices work "out of the box" without requiring patients to pair Bluetooth or download apps"Hardware is hard, but healthcare is just as hard or harder" - especially for Silicon Valley entrepreneurs expecting to move fastAI will consume healthcare data like nothing before, requiring real-time observations rather than weeks-old electronic health recordsThe VA partnership demonstrates how remote patient monitoring can scale to serve millions while reducing costly emergency interventionsAbout our Guest: Kent E. Dicks is a successful serial entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience providing dynamic and strategic leadership in new and emerging markets. While Dicks has a broad range of experience across several business sectors, he has most recently established himself as one of the true thought leaders in the mHealth (mobile health) space. In 2006, Dicks founded MedApps and immersed himself in the world of healthcare technology. He dedicated himself to improving telehealth systems -- which had shown much promise to benefit the chronic care population worldwide -- with patient-centered solutions that could provide relief to an overburdened healthcare system. While telehealth demonstrated success in improving patient outcomes, widespread adoption was elusive. The existing technology was expensive and complex – especially for the older patient population, which typically consumes the most healthcare dollars. Ubiquity of cellular technology with increasingly lower costs inspired Dicks to develop more automated and cost-effective remote patient monitoring solutions to help care for Medicare and Medicaid populations.Dicks was a leading pioneer in the evolving mHealth field, using dedicated M2M cellular “hubs” to connect patient, providers, and electronic health records. His lower-cost mHealth solutions provided the industry with a much-needed alternative to enable a proactive healthcare model. The consistent flow of accurate, real-time data provided with the MedApps solution gave healthcare professionals the ability to better track the conditions of individuals with chronic disease in order to keep them out of the hospital, intervene when necessary, and avoid expensive admissions and readmissions. Dicks implemented a strategy centered around ease of

Designing for the Edge: Feargus MacDaeid and Nnamdi Emelifeonwu on Definely's AI-Powered Contract Navigation

In this episode of The Geek in Review, we welcome Feargus MacDaeid and Nnamdi Emelifeonwu, co-founders of Definely, to discuss how their shared experiences as practicing lawyers shaped a groundbreaking accessibility solution for contract review. Feargus, who is visually impaired, and Nnamdi, his former colleague at Freshfields, describe how their friendship and professional collaboration led to a tool designed not only for those with disabilities but for all attorneys grappling with voluminous transactional documents. Listeners learn that Definely began as a way to help Feargus navigate complex contracts more efficiently, and through iterative prototyping, evolved into a productivity suite that addresses universal pain points in the pre-execution stages of contract life cycles.Feargus explains that his journey to co-founding Definely began with personal necessity: having gone blind from a degenerative condition by his early twenties, he pivoted from a computer science career at Microsoft to law school, relying on assistive technology and immense personal support. Once at Allen & Overy, the limitations of existing tools became starkly apparent—searching for defined terms meant losing one's place in a 300-page agreement and juggling layers of nested definitions by reading aloud via text-to-speech. The cognitive load was immense. By collaborating with Nnamdi, who recognized that if a solution could serve Feargus, it would benefit everyone, they embraced the principle of “designing for the edge”—creating a platform that brought definitions, clauses, and cross-references into context without interrupting a lawyer's focus.Nnamdi takes listeners on a tour of Definely's three core components: Vault, Draft, and Proof. Vault functions as a dynamic repository for templates, clauses, and precedent documents, enabling users to pull in the most relevant resources from connected document management systems. Draft keeps the user anchored in the current clause while instantly displaying any linked provisions or schedules in a sidebar, eliminating the need to scroll, split screens, or flip between pages. Proof automates common pre-signing checks—verifying cross-references, punctuation, and legal grammar—to ensure a polished final draft. Together, these tools exemplify how Definely streamlines contract creation by surfacing precisely the needed information in a lawyer's line of sight, thereby maintaining context and reducing manual navigation. The conversation shifts to quantifying Definely's impact on law firms. Nnamdi cites a study indicating that attorneys save up to 45 minutes per day—roughly a 90 percent reduction in time spent on tedious tasks—by using Definely's context-aware navigation. Beyond hard metrics, the founders emphasize “soft benefits” such as reduced cognitive fatigue, higher morale, and improved client value. To capture these less tangible gains, Definely's customer success team works closely with firms to customize usage dashboards and collect feedback. Feargus and Nnamdi also reflect on the broader legal tech landscape, noting that firms are experimenting with in-house development, acquisitions, and partnerships. They believe collaboration between vendors and firms will ultimately prevail, as specialized expertise in areas like machine learning ops and user experience is hard to cultivate internally and essential for maintaining cutting-edge tools.Listen on mobile platforms:  Apple Podcasts |  Spotify | YouTube[Special Thanks to Legal Technology Hub for their sponsoring this episode.]Blue Sky: @geeklawblog.com @marlgebEmail: geekinreviewpodcast@gmail.comMusic: Jerry David DeCicca

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Abundance Trap: Who Owns Our Future When Robots Do All the Work?

That Was The Week publisher Keith Teare argues we're “accelerating” toward an age of “abundance” in which AI and automation will slash production costs to near-zero, freeing humans to pursue hobbies instead of jobs. I'm less optimistic. I don't disagree with Keith's premise that AI will profoundly change not just our economy but our society and politics. But abundance? Who will own these AI factories? How will profits and wealth be distributed? Keith envisions massive corporate tax rates (up to 98%) redistributing automated profits, while I question whether people actually want a post-work world of ubiquitous stamp collectors or novelists. Our debate captures the gulf between Silicon Valley's utopian promises and the harsh political realities of the 2020s. Will technological abundance liberate humanity or concentrate power among tech giants and impoverish the rest of us? Five Key Takeaways * The Economics Are Clear, Politics Are Messy - Keith argues we're economically heading toward abundance through AI/automation reducing costs to near-zero, but admits the political question of wealth distribution remains "contested" and could lead to either democracy or autocracy.* Work vs. Hobbies Debate - Keith believes most people work jobs they don't love just to afford the things they do love, so abundance would free them to pursue passions. I counter that most people don't have hobbies and actually like having jobs.* The 98% Solution - Keith's preferred path to shared abundance: massive corporate tax rates on automated production (up to 98%) to redistribute AI-generated wealth, creating something "better than the Swedish system."* Big Tech Will Lead, Like It or Not - We both agree government won't drive this transformation—it'll be Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and others. The question is whether they'll be regulated/taxed or become "modern-day empires."* Scarcity in the Age of Abundance - It's a paradox. While promising intellectual abundance, we're seeing increased physical scarcity (land, immigration restrictions, declining birth rates) driven by political insecurity about the future.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication.
