John 12:20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. 21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." 22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus. 23 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  In today's teaching we will see that this is the turning point of Jesus away from the Jews.  The reason for this turning is some Greeks coming to seek Jesus and this apparently is a signal from His Father that Jesus is to completely turn away from them. They do not realize it but it is over for them and there are no more chances for these Jews (religious people) to trust Christ from now on.  Jesus tells them that the way the Son of Man is glorified is that He has to die.  This is where the Jews have it all wrong, they think Jesus is to come and be a Magnificent Savior the first time, but He has come to die for the sins of the whole world.  The way we are please the Father and become ultimately glorified is through our salvation and becoming like God as we die to ourselves and then we can live for Him.  Isn't it amazing that God has given us seeds as an example of this great truth of dying, so we can really become who we really are made to be in Christ?  What Drives Your Life? Baptism is a picture of our choice to be buried with death to self and to be raised with Christ as our focal point.  That's the point Jesus is trying to make in this passage, isn't it? There are those who are further along that road who understand, “My life is to be a thank you back to Christ.  My life is to be a service to Him.”  And there are those who are still fairly preoccupied with self. Where in life and when in life do we stop to ask, “Am I following God?”  I hope God, in His kindness, is patient and longsuffering and merciful with us in that process.  But the goal is that we're serving Him, not ourselves.  19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!"  20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. With wonderful Johannine form and irony He links the previous section where the Pharisees say, “Look, the whole world is going after Him,” with the Greeks seeking Him.  So, it's a wonderful touch to the narrative.  They were seeking God, they were seeking Jesus, but they're not allowed in the temple complex.  It's an historical fact, incontestable, that at the court of Gentiles there were signs posted that a Gentile could not go further lest he face a death penalty.  It was very strict in Judaism and the temple complex and even a God-fearing Gentile could not go further than that court of the Gentiles. Ephesians 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, If you know your Bible, you know in Romans we have a section where Paul talks about Judaism and the Jew having the Gospel presented and then the door closing and opening to the Gentile.  Same issue.  And this is a decisive move in His ministry.  If you've been with us in the study of John, you have heard when we've gone through those text about the hour.  He says, “My time is not now, my hour has not yet come, it is not my hour.”  Many times He has said this.  With His mother at the Wedding at Cana.  “It's not my hour, it's not My time.  This is not the time.” About 10 times before Jesus goes to the cross  But now, verse twenty-four, Jesus said, “The hour's come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” Let me give you five concepts that the Bible explains what the Son of Man means. First of all, it means Deity.  He equates Himself with God in John chapter 5:25 and John 5:27.  Jesus says He's God in an equation almost.  So, its Deity.  Secondly, its royalty.  This Son of Man, as the Son of Man, will receive royalty.  He will inherit a royal lineage.  He is part of royalty.  Daniel 7:13 and Matthew twenty-six verses sixty-three to sixty-four speak of this.  Jesus makes Himself equivalent in a royal fashion with God.  He's from nobility, we might say.  Prince William is of a lineage, okay.  Jesus Christ is saying, “I am royalty,” when I say, “Son of Man.”  Thirdly, He speaks of His humanity.  John 3:14, John 12:23-24 He speaks of His humanity.  As man He will suffer everything man suffers.  There's never been an emotion you've felt, a fear you have worried over, a joy you have celebrated, a pain you have experienced that He has not identified with.  The incarnate part of Jesus Christ, if we can segment it out, the incarnation means He is fully man.  He suffers in every way you've ever suffered.  He understands that.  Fourthly, it embodies His glory.  John 1:51, John 3:13 and others, Jesus declares that He is the only one who has descended from heaven and who will ascend back to heaven; therefore, He's the only one who can have the glory of God.  And Fifth, and last, as such, He offers salvation.  Because He's the Son of Man, He can offer salvation to men.  John 6:27, John 6:53 and 9:35. But the most important note of this, is that every time its used, except one, every time its used, Jesus is the one who uses it.  It's a self-reference.  Jesus is the “Son of Man.”  He's talking about Himself.  In John's theology, the suffering of Jesus Christ and His glory are fused together.  It seems strange, but that's the way John gives us the picture.  It is only through suffering will He be glorified.  Think of it this way, as man, Jesus Christ came as a man, He was not accepted as Jesus.  He was not accepted as King.  He wasn't followed as God's Son.  He was crucified as a man. Jesus Christ, center stage, two criminals executed for shameful offenses.  Whatever the offenses were, it required a death penalty.  And they are ashamed in their exposure and beating and crucifixion.  And so here you have framed shame against the ultimate shame which is the ultimate glory.  These two deserve, He did not.  And in that, He glorifies His Father.  It's the ultimate manifestation of His humility and glorification.  Full shame, full glory, in John's theology. Now this is the most common title in the New Testament when it speaks of Jesus Christ.  “Son of Man.”  Greeks are asking to see Jesus at the Passover celebration. Why here? Why now? I think because God wants to show, and John wants to underline, that Jesus really is the king, not just of Israel, but of the “whole world”—here represented by the Gentiles, these foreigners. In verse 19 the Pharisees say, “The whole world has gone after him.” And now even Greeks are going after him. 21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." At His birth, Gentiles came from the east; now at His death, Gentiles come once again. Why does John mention them at this point? Because the King has now been rejected by Israel. The Jews had said, “We want to see a sign!” (Matt. 12:38, NKJV); but the Gentiles said, “We want to see Jesus!” Does Jesus show himself to them?  Physically, we don't know. John doesn't say. But this may be for our sake. Because Jesus does show himself to them the same way he shows himself to us. He speaks truth about himself that becomes a truth about us. This is how Jesus shows himself in power: he gives truth about himself that becomes truth about us.  22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.  23 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. It is the hour of His death, but He calls it the hour of His glory! Signifies that Jesus has turned from the Jews to the Gentiles, the whole world John 1:11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Here is the truth about me that matters for Greeks—and for all people—who want to see me and know me:] In other words, I am on my way to glory. I really will be something to see. They are right to want to see me. I will pray for this—that they will see my glory (John 17:20). I will be the most glorious person in the universe when my Father raises me from the dead and gives me a name that is above every name so that at my name every knee will bow—including Jews and Greeks and Americans. Yes, they are right to want to see me—and even want to be identified with me.  24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a (definite article THE speaking of Jesus) grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. whenever you hear, “truly, truly,” the words Jesus speaks have eternal consequence.  Christ is the grain of wheat that must die before there can be fruit and the world given the opportunity to be saved. Notice the article in English.  You have the little article “a.”  It's a definite article in the original.  it is “the grain of,” Jesus says, “of wheat.”  He's talking about Himself.  Unless “the” grain of wheat dies, there will be no harvest. He sees these Greeks as the first fruits, the symbol of the great harvest of earth for which he came. The world would not see the full outcome of his work and his life until he went to the cross. My pathway to glory is through death. Do you want to see that? I will indeed bear much fruit—including Greeks. But I will not and I cannot bear this fruit any way but through dying. That is the truth about Jesus that he reveals to the Greeks—and to us. But now it also becomes a truth about them—and about us. He says in verses 25 and 26: my dying for your salvation is also my design for your imitation. If you want to see me, be prepared to become like me. Prepare to follow me on the road I am going. So he says, verse John 12:25,  25 "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Then he makes the truth about himself a truth about us. Will we hate our lives in this world? Will we follow him on the path to Calvary? Will we serve the Son in this way? Will we let the truth about the Son of Man become truth about us? Will we identify with the one we are so eager to see? Paradox of Christianity, Life of Opposites Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live., 18 Ga 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Col 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Ro 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. Ro 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ga 2:19 "For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. He tells His followers, “You're going to suffer like I did.”  And in fact, we have some indication historically, maybe not Biblically, in the Bible context, but we do have some fairly good history that some of these men died horrible deaths for the cause of Christ.  And so there was an immediacy in the prediction of His suffering that, “You, too, will suffer.”  But a disciple is to hate his own life.  What does that mean?  We're to hate our life in comparison to our love for Christ.  Remember when Jesus says, “If you don't hate your mother and father, you're not fit to follow me,” basically.  Does He mean you hate your parents?  No, of course not.  What He means is, “If your love to me is not such a wholehearted love that it almost looks like you hate your family, its no love at all.”  The love that you have for Jesus Christ should be so overwhelming that it looks like everything else is unimportant to you.  And if you love your life, you're going to miss - if you love your things more than anything else, you will miss Him. Two things become unmistakably clear. One is that this is hard. And the other is that this is glorious or about significance John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Each atmakaraka comes with a series of gifts and skills, but also lessons and karmic themes. In this segment we dive into the meaning of the atmakaraka, how to find it in your birth chart, and spend time exploring what each planet could represent in a birth chart. Recognizing that there are no events without conflicting facets, R. Kivelevitz anchors the analysis of the emotional impact of the family wedding by zeroing in on the experiences of the “older generation” at the celebration. Belying the overt joy, he argues, there is an undercurrent of “the passing of the torch” with a sense that life is passing these folks by in favor of the new generation. Though not evident in the parents of the new couple because of their immediate involvement in the nuts and bolts of the event, these feelings are more palpable for the older generation. Prof. Juni, concurring with this stance, points out its particular salience for families of immigrants and Holocaust survivors who were self-established and then witness their children's and grandchildren's marriages. Inasmuch as these “youngsters” had it much easier than they did and some were handed their lives “on silver platters” some disparagement and resentment is inevitable. Conversely, R. Kivelevitz points out that the presence of the older generation at these celebrations is not truly necessary from the younger generation's perspective. Other than perfunctory respect and adulations, the party would pretty much be just as celebratory without them. As such, the event is merely an opportunity to memorialize then into the wedding album which will outlive them in the family folklore. Dr. Juni points out that the Western youth-centered cultural perspective actually promotes the perspective that – instead of children thriving by standing on the shoulders of our parents – they actually progress by stepping on their head as they reject their values and minimize their relevance. R. Kivelevitz points out a revealing contrast between traditional weddings, where the bridal couple are the stars of the day, to the weddings in Chassidic courts where the main attraction is the Rebbe who is “marrying off” his descendants and the bridal couple is perfunctory at best. Pushing the duality of the wedding experience to a tangential area, R. Kivelevitz explores religio-cultural options as he tries to come to grips with the Chasidic tradition where the bride and groom hold hands as they parade publicly from the wedding canopy – a behavior which defies Chasidic mores and even Halacha. R. Kivelevitz challenges Juni to explain the extravagances of the typical Jewish wedding which often drive the parents into significant debt. Juni notes that – in psychoanalytic theory extreme emotion-related behavior usually indicates the presence of an underlying discordant emotion which is being repressed (as per the defense mechanism dynamics of Reaction Formation). Thus, the extreme message that “I am so happy that this is happening” is intended as a counterweight to the nascent despair of being left behind in the dust. Prof. Juni is one of the foremost research psychologists in the world today. He has published ground-breaking original research in seventy different peer reviewed journals and is cited continuously with respect by colleagues and experts in the field who have built on his theories and observations. He studied in Yeshivas Chaim Berlin under Rav Yitzchak Hutner, and in Yeshiva University as a Talmid of Rav Joseph Dov Soloveitchik. Dr. Juni is a board member of the Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists and has regularly presented addresses to captivated audiences. Associated with NYU since 1979, Juni has served as Director of PhD programs, all the while heading teams engaged in cutting-edge research. Professor Juni's scholarship on aberrant behavior across the cultural, ethnic, and religious spectrum is founded on psychometric methodology and based on a psychodynamic psychopathology perspective. He is arguably the preeminent expert in Differential Diagnostics, with each of his myriad studies entailing parallel efforts in theory construction and empirical data collection from normative and clinical populations. Professor Juni created and directed the NYU Graduate Program in Tel Aviv titled Cross-Cultural Group Dynamics in Stressful Environments. Based in Yerushalayim, he collaborates with Israeli academic and mental health specialists in the study of dissonant factors and tensions in the Arab-Israeli conflict and those within the Orthodox Jewish community, while exploring personality challenges of second-generation Holocaust survivors. The ascension of and submission to the matriarchal culture in the black community have given rise to a new sect of men. The “Passport Bros” are forgoing relationships with American women to seek companionship with women from other countries who share more traditional values lacking in this country. “With no institution or individual addressing the major rift between black men and women, the men are abandoning American women, searching for women in other countries who are not hostile toward traditional relationship roles,” Jason says. Today, "Fearless" takes on the issues that led to the Passport Bros, with help from “Fearless" soldier Royce White and the first lady of "Fearless,” Shemeka Michelle. The Brevity of the Palm-on-Palm Sunday Signifies What Appears Brief Earthly Victory . . . But That is Not What Christians Celebrate! The Brevity of the Palm-on-Palm Sunday Signifies What Appears Brief Earthly Victory . . . The brevity of the palm, handed out to Christians around the world on Palm Sunday, is important on this day. Palms will dry out in a manner of days. They will be lifeless very soon. They do not last long, lose their flexibility and their green color. So why do we collect palms on Palm Sunday? Why are they important to Christians? Palms mirror what happens on Palm Sunday and within the day's Gospel. Christians receive the palms, they are blessed . . . and wave them greeting the arrival of Our Lord! We experience the joy of the day . . . the joy of His presence! We then are confronted with the majesty of His death on the Cross for us! The joy is brief before we enter the Passion. Joy quickly will turn into sorrow. Victory turns . . . it would appear . . . into defeat. The Palm and the Lord loses their life. Palms are waived because they are the symbol of victory . . . not just honor . . . but victory! . . . But That is Not What Christians Celebrate! The Victor is hailed . . . then we see Him in what appears to be defeat. Those that hailed Him with Palms . . . would soon yell “Crucify Him”. Those that reach out for Palms . . . would soon reach out for rocks to throw at Him. They would reach out and nail Him to the Cross. How brief the Victor appears on Palm Sunday . . . or does it? Listen to this Mediation (13 minute) Media on the importance of Palm Sunday!

In this episode of Counselor on Call, we discuss the difference between active suicidal ideations and passive suicidal ideations. Warning - this contains references to suicide and may act as a trigger to some. Please listen with caution. Suicide is a leading cause of death but continues to be misunderstood. An essential part of understanding suicide is having the proper terminology. Passive suicidal ideation occurs when you wish you were dead or that you could die, but you don't have any plans to commit suicide. Active suicidal ideation, on the other hand, is not only thinking about it but having the intent to commit suicide, including planning how to do it. Passive suicidal ideations: Defense mechanism Not a character flaw or sign of weakness Signifies that you're dealing with pain and sadness Active suicidal ideations: Giving away possessions Talking about death, dying, or not being around in the future Using phrases that make death sound like an option, such as "When I am gone," "If I were to kill myself…." Saying goodbye or making amends with loved ones Collecting items that are harmful or potentially dangerous Social withdraw Increased drug or alcohol usage Not participating in activities that were once enjoyable Engaging in risky or potentially harmful behaviors If you or your loved ones are dealing with either, please reach out for help: National Suicide Hotline, 800-273-8255 *DISCLAIMER: The content in the podcast and on this webpage is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Text below taken from the Oilwoman magazine blog- LinkHaving celebrated the one-year anniversary of their podcast, Flipping the Barrel, co-hosts Massiel Diez Melo, business development manager at Extreme/SLB, and Jamie Elrod, senior account manager NexTier Oilfield Solutions, interview each other and talk about their experiences as women in the field, the impressions their guests have made on them, and the meaning behind the name of their podcast, which they say, “Signifies us talking about the industry from a woman’s perspective. It’s our turn to talk – flipping to the other side of the story.”What interview from our podcast made the biggest impression on you and why?Massiel Diez Melo: Aron Marquez, CEO of Wildcat Oil Tools. He has an amazing and inspiring story. He is the perfect example that you can truly become anyone you want to be in life and that your background/childhood does not ever limit your potential; if anything, it makes you stronger and a fighter. Aron spoke to us about immigrating from Mexico to Odessa, Texas, at a very young age with his parents to work on an onion farm. He knew even back then that he would be a millionaire one day. It truly is all mindset, goals and hard work.Jamie Elrod: Celine Gerson, president of Schlumberger Canada. Celine is a woman that never lets anything get in her way. No matter the circumstance or position she has to tackle, she is always taking risks on herself. She was the first woman to run a global profit and loss (P&L) for Cameron and she brought really great insight on work/life balance. What I loved most was the emphasis she put on her personal brand. She talks about building your “brand” and the importance of knowing who you are and how you want to be perceived. She always takes calculated risks that showcase her strengths. Her brand is built around the ability to break down barriers and bring silos together. The truth is, the minute you are comfortable, you are not showcasing what you are good at.What is a quote from one of our interviews that has stayed with you and why?MDM: Ashley Zumwalt-Forbes, co-founder and president of Black Mountain Metals. “Luck looks like a lot of hard work.” So many people look into people’s lives who are successful and just assume they got lucky, when in reality they worked extremely hard for everything they have and have had their own share of challenging times.JE: Ashley Zumwalt-Forbes, “If you can’t bet on yourself, I don’t know what you can bet on.” We all have great ideas, but we tend to sit back and let our dreams pass us by. In reality you can become whoever you want to be in this life; take a bet on yourself for once. I think about this quote all the time. We get comfortable in our day jobs and the unknown scares us. When really, the one thing you can trust in this world is you. Why not invest in yourself and spend your life doing what you want to do?Who would it be a dream come true to have on the podcast and why?MDM: Andrew Gould, former CEO Schlumberger, whom I really look up to. He led an incredible organization when he ran Schlumberger and is still until this day loved in the industry. I’d love to pick his brain and get to really know who he is deep in his core. I would love to ask him about his past, how he navigated his career, and what he thinks about the future of the industry. Also, Stephanie Cox, CEO – Americas at Wood, is a dream interview for me because she has always been inspiring and a leader for women in oil and gas.JE: Vicki Hollub, CEO of Occidental Petroleum (Oxy), hands down, would be an amazing person to learn from. She is such an incredibly powerful woman. She worked for Oxy over 30 years, climbing the ranks all the way to CEO. She was able to buy Anadarko in a price war with Chevron. Now Oxy is the largest player in the Permian Basin and she is steering the ship. I would love to know what a “Day in the Life” looks like for Vicki or what her process was when she decided she wanted to buy Anadarko, what strategies took place, and how she navigates her team. It would be interesting to know how she feels about the future of our industry. We get feedback from listeners that makes us know doing the podcast is a worthwhile endeavor and really is making a difference to people, particularly other young women. Do you remember a specific comment that made a lasting impression on you?MDM: The most memorable ones are from a few young field engineers who tell us they love listening to our podcast when they feel alone or exhausted from being in the field and by tuning in they felt like there was hope for them to keep pushing and that they, too, would eventually have their turn to move up in the company and have a great career.JE: Every time I read comments, it reminds me why we started this, especially when it makes younger women want to join oil and gas. We have had many write us and ask for advice on how to enter the industry. We have inspired them to get into oil and gas which, if you see the stats, oil has a low rate of incoming new talent. The more people we can inspire to join us makes every episode worthwhile. We want to change the perception of the industry and I feel we are doing just that.Just during our time in the industry (the last six to eight years), how have you seen attitudes toward women change?MDM: Since the beginning of my career, I have always felt like I belonged or was “wanted” on the team and felt like the oil and gas industry was very welcoming. From a very early start in my journey, I had male colleagues who became mentors, who always had my back, were supportive and helped me progress in my field career. I also did find that as the years went by, a bigger, louder movement rose toward including women in oil and gas. Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the forefront of all conversations in 2020. I must say, things have progressed for the better since I joined.JE: When I started in the field selling drill bits, I was one of two women. The men I worked with in the field and office were very protective and supportive. I honestly can say, I never had an issue. I received more respect from company men than my male counterparts. When I started in city sales, I was once again one of the only women on the team and have been ever since I started. Like Massiel, I have always had male mentors who helped guide me through my career.Within the last two years, I have seen a huge shift to inclusion and diversity being a prime topic of discussion outside of major operators and service companies. This is where I think the biggest change has occurred. Even the private sector is wanting to bring on more diversity, which leads to more women working in the industry. Overall, my experience has always been positive. With that said, I do see a lot more women now at events then I would have in the past, which shows things are changing. At 15 percent, women (as well as other minorities) are still underrepresented in industry. Based on our own experiences, here is what we think companies need to do to attract more women and minorities.MDM: Overall, companies are doing a great job at recruiting talented young women straight out of college by promoting “women in the field, women in oil and gas,” recruiting campaigns (trust me those do work; that’s how I ended up in oil and gas). I think continuous displays of women in the industry at career fairs, online, on social media, etc. really do help younger women feel like they belong and that they have a place in the industry. Companies need to continue to include both pictures of females and males in their covers, ads, posts, etc. I also think it starts a lot of earlier than college years. Companies need to start in high school and promote the industry as well as what a career in oil and gas in their company would look like. My best advice would be to start young!JE: Companies are trying hard to give women more opportunities. The issue is not on companies recruiting, the issue is retainment and turn over. Women seem to begin to feel undervalued or looked over as their career progresses. They feel left out as most things still revolve around activities perceived to be what men enjoy – hunting, fishing, clay shoots and golfing. I love to participate in these activities, but not everyone does. If team building is centered around getting out of the office and doing things that aren’t inclusive, then it makes it hard for women to connect. They feel left out, which leads to self-doubt. Outside of team building and functions many of the C-suites look very similar – all men. How can women or minorities feel like they can progress, if upper level management doesn’t reflect a diverse group? The focus needs to be how are we going to keep women once we have hired them.Tune into Flipping the Barrel podcast to hear the continuation of this conversation between co-hosts Maissel Diez Melo and Jamie Elrod. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.05.21.108886v1?rss=1 Authors: Guru, A., Seo, C., Post, R. J., Kullakanda, D. S., Schaffer, J. A., Warden, M. R. Abstract: Journeys to novel and familiar destinations employ different navigational strategies. The first drive to a new restaurant relies on map-based planning, but after repeated trips the drive is automatic and guided by local environmental cues. Ventral striatal dopamine rises during navigation toward goals and reflects the spatial proximity and value of goals, but the impact of experience, the neural mechanisms, and the functional significance of dopamine ramps are unknown. Here, we used fiber photometry to record the evolution of activity in midbrain dopamine neurons as mice learned a variety of reward-seeking tasks, starting recordings before training had commenced and continuing daily for weeks. When mice navigated through space toward a goal, robust ramping activity in dopamine neurons appeared immediately - after the first rewarded trial on the first training day in completely naive animals. In this task spatial cues were available to guide behavior, and although ramps were strong at first, they gradually faded away as training progressed. If instead mice learned to run a fixed distance on a stationary wheel for reward, a task that required an internal model of progress toward the goal, strong dopamine ramps persisted indefinitely. In a passive task in which a visible cue and reward moved together toward the mouse, ramps appeared and then faded over several days, but in an otherwise identical task with a stationary cue and reward ramps never appeared. Our findings provide strong evidence that ramping activity in midbrain dopamine neurons reflects the use of a cognitive map - an internal model of the distance already covered and the remaining distance until the goal is reached. We hypothesize that dopamine ramps may be used to reinforce locations on the way to newly-discovered rewards in order to build a graded ventral striatal value landscape for guiding routine spatial behavior. Trust me, I really did need to figure out the timing and release of this one. Energy healing is a holistic practice that activates the body's subtle energy systems to remove blocks. By breaking these energetic blocks, the body's inherent ability to heal itself is stimulated. There are many ways people approach energy healing; acupuncture, reiki, even massage have the energy component to it. The New Moon, is a time for new beginnings and for those tapped into and ready to accept the energy of a new moon; which bring fresh perspectives, improved clarity, a sense of renewal and rebirth. We are going through a major shift in the world right now, pivoting, changing evolving in so many aspects of our life. Jessica Keats is an International energy healer, specializing in awakening who a person trully is and helping remove what's in their wasy from becoming their true self.  Jessica is renowned for healing limiting beliefs, fears and past traumas so her clients improve physically and emotionally while reaching new heights professionally. Its a fun conversation, be open minded and maybe take what you need from this, or simply reflect on the possibility of being in tune with one's every flow- the good and the bad.  Jessica by the way is also the President of the Women's Business Network here in Ottawa. When it comes to these numbers that we will be looking at we have to answer the question: are they just numbers or do they represent a deeper meaning? The number 3 appears more than 460 times in scripture.Signifies completeness – fullness – [there is a sense of it is enough]Sometimes it means perfect, as in the type of perfection found only in God.There is the idea that it represents the amazing or mature.Let’s take a look at some passages concerning the life of Jesus where the number 3 plays a role and see if we can’t uncover some deeper understanding:The Third hour of the dayThe 3 hours of darkness3 days in the TombWhat could these possibly represent other than repetition or the marking of time? For me I believe they represent, establish for us and teach us about:The Fullness of timeThe full sacrifice offered on our behalfThe Full victory of JesusThe Fullness of time-The Crucifixion of Jesus was at just the right time.Mark 15:25, It was the third hour when they crucified Him.Now the NIV says it was 9:00 in the morning – but the greek is tritos which means 3rd.Why is this significant? I believe that it signifies that at just the right time Jesus went to the Cross for our sins – not a minute too early or a minute too late. The crucifixion of Jesus was not the outcome of a random series of events – it was the deliberate plan of our God to redeem us from our self-inflicted bondage at any price.I believe that this is affirmed in Galatians 4:4, But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth · · His Son, born of a woman, born under law,And Ephesians 1:10, as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring · everything together in · Christ, things in · heaven and things on · earth. And Romans 5:6, You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. The full sacrifice offered on our behalf –Mark 15:33, At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. In the third hour of darkness, Jesus breathed His last breath.Mark 15:38, The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. How does this show the full sacrifice? The curtain in the temple separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies where once a year the blood of a sacrifice was sprinkled on the mercy seat to roll the sins of the people forward for another year – Exodus 30:10, “Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the Lord.” This is no longer required because Hebrews 10:4, It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. With Christ sacrifice our sins are not rolled back, they are rolled awayHebrews 9:11-12, But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The Full victory of Jesu

Welcome, Weed Smoking disclaimer, Thanks for emails, reviews, support the show by visiting the website and buying merch or donating directly to the proejct. First up, I have been delighted to begin receiving Great Emails including this one from. Oh let’s just call her “Heidi” since I don’t have express permission to share her real name.  “I listened to The Mud Flood Deception and Grand Tartaria episode and I found it interesting.  One thing that jumped out at me. You said something about underground cities. You mentioned Syracuse, NY.  I have only heard of a subway in Syracuse once in vague terms and nothing else.( I heard tell of a fancy restroom in Syracuse that was part of an underground rail system).  I was born in Syracuse, 58 years ago, and grew up in Cicero. (10 miles north of downtown) I went to college out of town, moved back to Cicero. I bought a house in Syracuse 20 years ago.  So I know Syracuse. Do you have references for a Syracuse subway? I found references to a railroad and they had snowplows. Also there was the underground railroad. (a way to get slaves to freedom before the civil war). Any info you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks, H. Youtube Commenter also mentioned I should look into “Star Towers” and I plan to do so!  I think there’s a good chance he’s talking about towers not unlike the famous Water Towers on Long Island NY near the beaches there (Jones Beach, Lido Beach, Montauk, Fire Island may all be great places to try to examine for hints of Star Fortyness.  STay tuned.. Youtube Channel subs are going up, 182 as of this episode! Engagement there is welcome, and I am producing content for Youtube Specifically! This week I even released a companion video to this episode, exclusively on Youtube.   Blog and Mailer, they exist!  Please help make them matter by signing up and reading the blog! Baked: https://blog.kushmarketplace.com/s-420-the-marijuana-revenue-and-regulation-act/   Maps and documents from the US National Archives- we will read part or all of two or three very fascinating personal letters from people whom many of us would tend to refer to as “founding fathers”, giving insight into whether they themselves thought they had an accurate account of the history of the world, as well as in another case, a clear explanation of how informal back channels between connected individuals, may change the shape of the world.     Archives Document excerpts, and links (All references to Tartaria or Tartary) https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Adams/99-02-02-5363- Full letter From JA more or less glibly explaining “How the World really works” to the Boston Patriot “In the 16th volume of the Bee now printing will be found a very valuable dissertation on the different varieties of sheep he found in the Great Tartary. and other parts of the Russian dominions he had visited, accompanied with plates done from drawings furnished by him—This dissertation gives a more perfect view of the natural history of this useful animal than I have met with in any other publication.” -To George Washington from James Anderson (of Scotland), 15 August 1793 I PROCEED now to trace the real characters of the proposed executive as they are marked out in the plan of the Convention. This will serve to place in a strong light the unfairness of the representations which have been made in regard to it. The first thing which strikes our attention is that the executive authority, with few exceptions, is to be vested in a single magistrate. This will scarcely however be considered as a point upon which any comparison can be grounded; for if in this particular there be a resemblance to the King of Great-Britain, there is not less a resemblance to the Grand Signior, to the Khan of Tartary, to the man of the seven mountains, or to the Governor of New-York. -The Federalist No. 691 [New York, March 14, 1788] To the People of the State of New-York. Priestley ought to have told Us, that Pythagoras passed twenty Years, in his Travels in India, in Egypt, in Chaldea, perhaps in Sodom and Gomorrah, Tyre and Sydon. He ought to have told Us that in India he conversed with the Brakmans and read the Shasta, 5000 years old, written in the Language of the Sacred Sanscrists with the elegance and Sentiments of Plato. Where is to be found Theology more orthodox or Phylosophy more profound than in the Introduction to the Shasta? “God is one, creator of all, Universal Sphere, without beginning, without End. God governs all the Creation by a general Providence, resulting from his eternal designs.—Search not the Essence and the nature of the Eternal, who is one; your research will be vain and presumptuous. It is enough that, day by day, and night by night, you adore his Power, his Wisdom and his Goodness, in his Works The Eternal willed, in the fullness of time, to communicate of his Essence and of his Splendor, to Beings capable of perceiving it. They as yet existed not. The Eternal willed, and they were. He created Birma, Vitsnow, and Sib.” These Doctrines, Sublime if ever there were any Sublime, Pythagoras learned in India and taught them to Zaleucus and his other disciples. He there learned also his Metempsychosis, but this never was popular, never made much progress in Greece or Italy, or any other Country besides India and Tartary, the Region of the Grand immortal Lama: And how does this differ, from the Possessions of Demons in Greece and Rome, from the Demon of Socrates from the Worship of Cows and Crocodiles in Egypt and elsewhere. After migrating through various Animals from Elephants to Serpents according to their behaviour, Souls that at last behaved well became Men and Women, and then if they were good, they went to Heaven. All ended in Heaven if they became virtuous. - Christmas letter John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, 25 December 1813 “I am led from an examination of the Tartary genseng, which still sells for nearly its weight in gold, to conclude that this country produces two species of genseng, one of them nearly of equal quality to the Tartary genseng, provided proper pains was taken to gather it in due season, and care taken in properly drying it. But this I think cannot take place at present, as the trade is on the decline…” -To Alexander Hamilton from Thomas Randall, 14 August 1791” “I said Mr. Oswald’s Attestation was sufficient, as he had already shewn me his original. He sat down and we fell into conversation about the weather, and the vapours and exhalations from Tartary, which had been brought here last spring by the winds, and given us all the influenza. Thence to French fashions, and the punctuality with which they insist upon people’s wearing thier clothes in spring and fall, tho’ the weather is ever so cold, &c. I said it was often carried to ridiculous lengths; but that it was at bottom an admirable policy, as it rendered all Europe tributary to the city of Paris, for its Manufactures.” -From John Adams to Boston Patriot, 27 June 1811 “The Seperation of America from Asia is between the 60th. and 70th. degree of North Latitude, precisely at the Arctick polar Circle. It is called in the French Maps Detroit du Nord. The northern Streight or Streight of the North. It is near the Archipel du Nord or northern Archipelago. The Point of Land in Asia is under the Dominion of Russia, and is called Russian Tartary. The Streight forms the Communication between the Eastern and the frozen Oceans, the Mer Orientale and the Mer Glaciale. There is a Number of Islands in the Archipelago, and one in the Streight itself called on the Map, Alaschka Island. There is a Sea and a Promontory called Kamskatska situated on the Eastern Ocean within 10 or 12 degrees of the Streight. The 3 Tartarys, Independent Tartary, Chinese Tartary and Russian Tartary form a vast Country, extending from Persia, Indostan and China, to the Point of Asia at the Streights of the North, which divide Asia from America.” -1783. June 19. Thursday. Fete Dieu [from the Diary of John Adams] “The Project, of conquering the Provinces of Albany, Romelia, Valachia, Moldavia & little Tartary from the Turks, & dividing them between the two Empires, may be more probable—3 But the Turks in Asia & Europe together are very powerful, and, if thoroughly awakened, might make a great resistance..” -From John Adams to Robert R. Livingston, 14 July 1783 “Robertson evidently regards the descent of the Greenlanders from a Norwegian Colony of the 9th. Centy as possible, and either that Colony or a prior one as the most probable origin first of them & then of the Esquemaux. Krantz whom he quotes, & who merits the praises you give him states I observe the fact of a Norwegian Colony in the 9th. Century, and in another place observes that there was no evidence that Greenland had Inhabitants of any sort, when first visited by the Norwegians. But he considers it most probable that the present Greenlanders are derived from the Esquemaux, & that the latter came from Nortn. Tartary; entering the Amn. Continent on the N. West Coast, and spreading eastwards over the Northn. region in which they are now found. This opinion is at least more rational than that of Robertson, as is shewn by your striking Contrast of the Greenlanders with the Norwegians. Is it not possible that the Greenlanders & Esquemaux may like many other people have a compound origin, made up of Samoyedes the nearest of the Northern Tartars, of Laplanders who were driven according to some accts. from the Coast of Norway, by their Gothic Successors; and of Colonies from these last, facilitated by the interjacent Island of Iceland. From these different sources they may have obtained, their Tartar features—their Lapland Stature, and their approach towards Gothic or Teutonic Complexions…” -From James Madison to Benjamin Henry Latrobe, 24 July 1818 “The Lama of Tartary has taken up his residence in England we have all the expense of Monarchy without the splendor…” -To John Adams from Thomas Brand Hollis, 6 June 1789 “In your Letter to Nolan I think you hinted that Horses are found no where in a wild state but in America, I some time ago by accident stumbled on a Work entitled Voyages aux Peuples Samsœides in which mention is made of some found Wild in Siberia or in Tartary, they are represented as small, exceedingly fleet, & hard to catch living on the borders of the Settlements & of great injury to the Inhabitants by the destruction of their Crops, I paid no attention to the thing at that time but if the Book falls again in my Way I shall forward it to you, as it may contain other particulars on the same subject which I do not recollect, the title may however be sufficient for you to procure it” -To Thomas Jefferson from Daniel Clark, 12 November 1799 “I said Mr. Oswalds Attestation was sufficient as he had already shewn me his original. He sat down and We fell into Conversation, about the Weather and the Vapours and Exhalations from Tartary which had been brought here last Spring by the Winds and given Us all the Influenza. Thence to french Fashions and the Punctuality with which they insist upon Peoples wearing thin Cloaths in Spring and fall, tho the Weather is ever so cold, &c. I said it was often carried to ridiculous Lengths, but that it was at Bottom an admirable Policy, as it rendered all Europe tributary to the City of Paris, for its Manufactures…” -1782 November 11, Monday [from the Diary of John Adams] ““It is most likely, descended from People bred towards the Tropick of Cancer, for they retain the memory of some starrs on that part of the celestial globe; as the North Starr, which they call Maske, which in their language Signifies, a Bear.” “They divide the Winds into Eight parts” “have had some litterature among them, which time hath cancelled” But what traces of it, he perceived, Mr Morton, further saith not. He then reprobates the conjecture, that they came from Tartary over the frozen sea.” -From John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, 26 January 1813 “We have the Pleasure of acquainting the World, that the famous Chinese or Tartarian Plant, called Gin seng, is now discovered in this Province, near Sasquehannah: From whence several whole Plants with a Quantity of the Root, have been lately sent to Town, and it appears to agree most exactly with the Description given of it in Chambers’s Dictionary, and Pere du Halde’s Account of China. The Virtues ascrib’d to this Plant are wonderful”. Extracts from The Gazette 1738 Tartarian History book I found referenced in the Archives, looks like the UW Library has what sounds like a scan or microfiche of some kind of the book.  I have emailed UW to see if they make it viewable to members of the public. “Zengis a Tartarian History—1 vol. Dr Stock talks to ecancertv at ASH 2015 about the results of a study that found a common genetic variant that increases the risk for bony toxicity in children being treated for acute leukaemia. In the study, presented by Dr Peter D. Cole of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, USA, children who had two copies of the 2R polymorphism in the promoter region of the thymidylate synthase gene were more likely than those who did not to have avascular necrosis or other bony morbidity. Around one in five (20.6%) of the 637 children tested had the TS genetic variant, the presence of which increased the risk of bony toxicity three-fold in the youngest (10 years) children. The results suggest increased surveillance may be needed, particularly in younger children.

The Royals were busy this week, making a trade to get Ervin Santana and shuffling players to get the roster down to 40. We discussed the implications of the Santana trade, what it signifies for the rest of the offseason, and what kinds of players might be in competition for the starting rotation this year. We also looked at other moves in the league, including the Mike Aviles trade and lamented the slight return the Royals got for him in 2011. Finally, we finished up talking about some listener comments.
