A listener asked about power systems, so Jimmy and Tyler break down every option: dual battery AGM, single and dual lithium, power stations, and the hybrid setups that combine them. Covers why lead acid batteries don’t belong in an off-road vehicle, why AGM never delivers its full rated capacity, why lithium gets you roughly double the usable power in the same size battery, and where AGM still wins (cold weather, sustained winching). Plus a breakdown of power station tech, and a $5,000 RedArc system that converts between a vehicle dual-battery setup and a portable power station, and a cautionary tale about frying a 40-amp alternator at a Jeepers Jamboree airdown. On this special edition of Grilling JR, Jim Ross and guest host Paul Bromwell celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the most pivotal and unforgettable years in the legendary career of The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels. Join JR and Paul as they revisit a defining moment in wrestling history and the event that forever changed Shawn's career trajectory. The guys travel back to WrestleMania XII, held on March 31, 1996, at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim in Anaheim, California. In the night's historic main event, Shawn Michaels fulfilled his lifelong dream by defeating Bret "Hitman" Hart in a grueling 60-minute Iron Man Match to capture his first WWF Championship. JR shares his memories of calling one of the most talked-about matches in WrestleMania history and discusses the significance of the iconic "Boyhood Dream Has Come True" moment that has become synonymous with Shawn Michaels' legacy. But WrestleMania XII was about much more than just the main event. JR and Paul dive into the major stories surrounding the WWF at the time, including Scott Hall and Kevin Nash giving notice and preparing to leave for WCW, the infamous Billionaire Ted skits that fueled the Monday Night War, and the surprising return of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. The conversation also covers the chaotic Hollywood Backlot Brawl between Piper and Goldust, Ultimate Warrior's lightning-fast return match against Hunter Hearst Helmsley, The Undertaker's clash with Diesel, and the unique atmosphere surrounding a company on the verge of massive change. From Shawn Michaels' crowning achievement to the behind-the-scenes developments that helped reshape the wrestling industry, JR and Paul break down all the action, controversy, and history from one of the most important WrestleManias of all time. Today is part 2 of listener questions and we spend a lot of time talking about the monumental nature of doing an Ironman. Is it absurd, simply a conquest, or a means to an end? There are tons of little training nuggets weaved inside of this cast, including, how to build an effective swim training package, is it worth the time and effort to be your absolute best in this sport? Triathlon vs. other priorities, and Taper combined with race week stress. We definitely hit on many interesting topics including weak feet and Lionel Sanders syndrome. Topics: Weak feet . . . make weak men . . . make weak times? Lionel Sanders syndrome Skill, speed, strength as a combo Swim technique sessions Giving up the watch in the pool Training to train or get better? Training for what's on top of your chin When does the absurdity of Ironman go away? Why people come back to this sport over and over Thoughts on leaving performance on the table What's your best potential at your age? What is your real goal Two priorities at a time Taper week decisions Race week stress Relieving stress or getting more tired? It's easy to forget how many Ironman questions there really are. In Season 10, Episode 6 of PSA: The Mental Health Podcast, Izzy Baker sits down with endurance athlete, motivational speaker, and disability advocate Kyle Pease, alongside his brother Brent Pease, for one of the most inspiring conversations of the season. This episode explores identity, cerebral palsy, men's mental health, self-worth, emotional resilience, disability awareness, and the dangerous labels society places on people. If you've ever struggled with comparison, insecurity, confidence, purpose, or wondering whether your past defines your future, this conversation is for you.The episode centers around one powerful idea: "It's not what you're called—it's what you answer to." From childhood labels to adulthood expectations, Izzy and the Pease brothers discuss how words like disabled, handicapped, athlete, successful, failure, or even "strong" can quietly shape the way people see themselves. Instead of allowing labels to become limitations, they explain how purpose, faith, and perseverance can redefine identity from the inside out.Kyle shares what life has been like growing up with cerebral palsy, overcoming assumptions about what he would never accomplish, and becoming one of the most recognizable endurance athletes in adaptive sports. Brent opens up about supporting his brother throughout life, discovering purpose through service, and how their relationship eventually led them to complete more than 150 endurance races together, including Ironman competitions. Their story becomes less about disability and more about brotherhood, resilience, and refusing to allow circumstances to dictate destiny. The conversation also explores comparison culture, fitness, social media, self-confidence, and why so many men unintentionally build their entire identity around careers, athletic achievements, money, popularity, or physical appearance. Izzy reflects on his own journey with Bell's Palsy, weight loss, and learning to separate who he is from what he does. Together, the group discusses how identity rooted in performance often leads to anxiety, burnout, depression, and emotional instability when life inevitably changes.Throughout the episode, the discussion dives into men's mental health, emotional resilience, therapy, disability representation, family support, loneliness, fitness culture, endurance sports, purpose, and faith. Drawing from current mental health research alongside personal testimony, the conversation challenges listeners to stop allowing labels, criticism, diagnoses, or past experiences to determine who they become. Instead, they argue that true confidence comes from understanding your purpose rather than seeking validation from the opinions of others.Season 10 continues to challenge the conversations men often avoid. Whether you've wrestled with comparison, insecurity, disability, emotional pressure, identity, or simply wondering if your life has a greater purpose, this episode offers practical wisdom and genuine encouragement to keep moving forward. Because sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't the label someone else places on you.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/p-s-a-the-mental-health-podcast--5520511/support.TrustBuilder Package
Subiu o Kilimanjaro, o Aconcágua, o Elbrus, além do Huascarán e do Quitaraju, no Peru e a Pirâmide Cartenz na Indonésia. Career / Process You broke in around 2006, and you're now pushing close to two decades in comics. How has your approach to storytelling changed from those early years to now? You've been at this for nearly 20 years at this point. What's something you understand about comics today that you wish you knew when you started? You're writing across multiple major franchises right now. How do you shift your voice between something like Superman, Iron Man, and G.I. Joe? On top of all this, you wrote a story in Creepshow Vol. 4 #5 titled Artificial Ignorance. Was that a story you had in a drawer, or…how did that come to be? Superman / Superboy-Prime Superboy-Prime has always been a volatile character, but here he feels almost desperate to prove himself. How do you balance his edge with making him someone readers want to follow? With Manchester Black entering the picture, what excites you about putting those two characters in conflict specifically? Any Superman elements/tropes you want to touch? Iron Man You've said Tony Stark is one of your favorite characters. What's something about Tony that you feel hasn't been explored enough in past runs? Madame Masque and A.I.M. feel like they're operating at a higher level here. What makes them the right villains for this phase of the story? Universal Monsters: Blood of the Wolf Man Do you have a favorite Universal Monsters adaptation? Do you have any favorite werewolf stories? This feels like a very grounded, almost psychological take on the Wolf Man. What drew you to that angle? Is the when of this story important to the overall experience? What makes the Wolf Man a character worth revisiting right now? Rapid Fire Question Round (Stolen from Stephen Colbert so that a guest is “known”): Best sandwich? What's one thing you own that you really should throw out? Apples or oranges? What is the scariest animal? Have you ever asked someone for their autograph? What do you think happens when we die? Favorite action movie? Favorite smell? Least favorite smell? Flat or sparkling? Most used app on your phone? If you could have dinner with any three characters you've written before, who would they be and why? You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life: what is it? Depeche Describe the rest of your life in 5 words?

At the Boston Marathon, Brent was drowning. Miles from the finish. Physically spent. Mentally gone. He screamed at his brother: "Are you going to race with me today?" Kyle can't push the pedals. Brent can't find the finish line without him. That's not a limitation. That's the entire point. Brent and Kyle Pease have completed Ironmans, marathons, and the Ironman World Championship in Kona, together. But this conversation goes far beyond racing. It's about what 15 years of partnership, mission, and asking for help actually teaches you about leadership, trust, and building something that serves more than yourself. What You'll Learn In This Episode: How a childhood Challenger Baseball moment became the blueprint for everything they built What it really means to race as a "we" and how that translates to business Why motivation follows action, not the other way around What emotional maturity had more to do with breaking records than training The leadership definitions from Brent and Kyle that replace 35 books How to navigate obstacles by shrinking the world cone by cone Why asking for help is a competitive advantage, not a weakness How the Kyle Pease Foundation's employment program is redefining meaningful work for people with disabilities Key Takeaways: ✔️"I borrowed his legs. He borrowed my spirit." Neither can finish without the other and that's not a weakness. It's the model. ✔️Motivation follows action. It's fickle after a rah-rah speech. It's lasting when you create movement first. ✔️Leadership isn't the loudest voice. It's the willingness to be vulnerable, listen before speaking, and get out of the way so others can rise. ✔️Asking for help is a daily practice. Kyle has done it every day of his life out of necessity and it's the single most powerful lesson he's given the people around him. ✔️Shrink the world. In an Ironman, in a nonprofit, in a business, you don't run 140.6 miles. You run to the next cone. ✔️You're not building it for yourself. From day one, someone told them: congratulations, you're in business now, for somebody else. That became their north star. ✔️Everyone has a team. Even a solopreneur has a team, it's just your spouse, your kids, your church, the people who believe in you. ✔️Every step you take matters to more than just you. As a push-assist duo, they made history as the first brother team to complete the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. In 15 years, they've supported hundreds of athletes and raised over $10 million in adaptive equipment and opportunities. We also break down the announcement that Chattanooga will host the Ironman 70.3 World Championship again in 2027, locking in a new five year agreement with the qualifying cycle kicking off on July 5. After the break, we recap Ironman Cairns, where Nick Thompson and Penny Slater both picked up maiden Ironman wins, with Slater inheriting the lead after Regan Hollioake was forced to retire with a torn hamstring while well clear on the bike. We then run through Happy Valley 70.3, where Trevor Foley finally got the better of Sam Long in their fourteenth head to head meeting, and Paula Findlay ran away with a dominant women's win. We close with a preview of WTCS Quiberon, breaking down the start lists and storylines heading into the men's and women's races this weekend. Scott Lackey (https://scottlackey.com/product/wake-up-to-die-again-book/ built the "perfect" life: U.S. Army veteran, Ironman finisher, entrepreneur with a U.S. patent + multimillion-dollar company. From the outside, it looked like success. Inside? Something felt off. Then life broke him open. Investors removed him from his own company. Identity cracked. Control slipped. And in that collapse, Scott found what no achievement could give him: truth. This isn't a self-improvement episode. It's a self-dismantling episode. Scott doesn't teach you how to fix your life. He points to what was never real… so you can be who you're meant to be.
The movie starts at 5:06 into this episode. We're watching Seltzer & Friedberg's second awful movie of 2008 (Meet The Spartans came out a few months earlier) and you get to join in the misery! Vanessa Minillo and Kim Kardashian star in a "spoof" of Superbad, Cloverfield, No Country For Old Men, Enchanted, Dr. Phil, Myley Cyrus, and Iron Man. Mark Jarel Is Building Everything! Before we get into it — this episode is brought to you by MotoTote. Head to mototote.com/MOTOARCHIVES for 10% off your order.I got invited into his shop in the San Fernando Valley, and within the first five minutes I knew this was going to be a different kind of conversation. The man has vintage flathead Harleys, a 1939 Indian Sport Scout, slot car tracks he's sold for $20,000 a piece, vintage go karts that do 70 miles an hour, a 1949 Crown travel trailer, a custom sports car he's building from a wooden buck — and right in the middle of it all, a Yamaha RD400 that's becoming something I've never quite seen before.Mark is a hobbyist in the truest sense of the word. Not a collector. Not a restorer. A builder. And the way he talks about it — three projects going at a time, bouncing between them when one hits a wall, no TV for 25 years — it hit different. This is a man who figured out a long time ago that building things is the antidote to everything. We talked about how it all started — his parents building their own toys because they couldn't afford to buy them, a 400-pound welder with a visible butt crack charging him $50 to weld a bicycle frame, and the moment Mark decided he was going to be smarter than that guy. He bought a welder, taught himself, and never looked back. The RD400 build is wild. It started as a land speed record bike someone gave him — ugly as sin, but with a solid, never-run 1983 engine inside. Mark stripped it, cut the frame, and built something entirely new around that motor. Part 70s drag bike, part road race sidecar outfit, with a working brake wing (does it help aerodynamically? Probably not. Does it look insane? Absolutely), a nitrous purge system for when he rolls into shows, a sidecar nose made from a vintage go kart and a wheel pod off a 1960 Cessna airplane. He made the tank out of cardboard templates first. He drilled out the rear brake for lightness. Does it really matter? Nope. But it sure looks cool — and that's the whole point. We also got into his racing days at Muroc Dry Lake, a land speed record he still holds, racing a 1965 Ducati GP bike at Willow Springs, and why he stopped racing the day his son was born. His kid ended up building his own motorcycle at 13, taking third at a build-off, and now rides a '65 BSA Lightning. The apple didn't fall far.And then there's the slot car tracks. Nine of them built and sold. One in Florida, one in Iowa, one in Hawaii. Each one a rolling diorama that fits inside an enclosed trailer, with figures, landscapes, a dog about to pee on something, and a pedestrian mooning the track. The man is serious about the details. The thing that stuck with me most was something Mark said near the end — if you can imagine it, we can build it. His son told him that in the middle of an Iron Man movie when he was five years old. They went home and built a helmet. That's the whole philosophy right there.Topics covered in this episode:Building a Yamaha RD400 into a 70s drag/sidecar race bike hybridWhy Mark gravitates toward 45 flathead Harleys and their historyThe WWII connection that made flatheads the most widely produced motorcycle engine in historyVintage go kart racing and holding a land speed record at Muroc Dry LakeBuilding slot car tracks from scratch — and selling them for $20kWhat it means to raise a kid around building thingsVintage travel trailer rallies and the community that keeps showing upWhy three projects at once is the secret to staying saneConnect with Mark: https://www.instagram.com/jarelbuilt/Follow Moto Archives:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheMotorcycleArchivesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/motoarchives/motoarchives.com
Most of us were told that running is the purest path to leanness, heart health, and a long life. Mark Sisson spent a career as an elite endurance athlete, becoming a sub-2:18 marathoner and top finisher at Ironman, before his own body forced him to question all of it. In this conversation, he makes the case that – for many people – "chronic cardio" quietly breaks the body down more than building it up, and that the movement your body is actually engineered for is one that we have stopped respecting: walking. In this episode, we get into: The broken promises of running for exercise, including injury rates, the fat loss myth, hormonal dysfunctions, and more Real aerobic training and why the fastest marathoner on earth trains 80% of the time at an easy, conversational pace Why persistence hunting was never a steady-state jog, but more of an alternating walking-climbing-sprinting endeavor How modern shoes "brace and encase" our feet, dulling our connection to the ground and setting up injuries What a fitness routine looks like when it aligns with evolutionary biology Mark is 73 and, by his own account, fitter than he's ever been. This makes him one of the rare voices on aging who is living the message in real time. If you want to understand a sustainable framework for fitness and longevity, this episode will clarify how you think about it.

What does it actually take to diagnose REDs, and what happens after? If you've ever wondered what's going on behind the scenes when a sports medicine physician suspects REDs, this episode is your inside look. Host Heather Caplan, RDN, sits down with Dr. Rosa Pasculli, a non-operative sports medicine physician based in Atlanta, to walk through the full medical picture: how REDs gets diagnosed, what labs actually matter and why, and what treatment looks like in practice. It's a masterclass in multidisciplinary care, and a reminder of just how important it is to have a physician on your team who knows how to ask the right questions. Dr. Pasculli is a former competitive dancer turned sports medicine physician with a particular clinical interest in bone stress injuries and REDs. She is the head team physician for Emory University, overseeing 450+ varsity athletes, and serves as a consulting physician for the Atlanta Ballet, the Georgia Ballet, and the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders. She also sees runners, weekend warriors, and masters athletes, including, as she mentions in this episode, an 80-year-old woman doing an Ironman. 07:59- How Rosa got into sports medicine and the female athlete space 12:44- What she's seeing in the clinic: awareness of REDs and where education still falls short 14:47- REDs as a diagnosis of exclusion: what that means and why it takes a team 15:51- Lab work 101: CBC, CMP, ferritin, thyroid, and what Rosa is actually looking for 21:48- DEXA scans: who needs one and when, including the Female Athlete Triad Coalition's updated guidelines 24:22- Medical management of REDs: risk stratification, the REDs CAT2 tool, and keeping athletes in sport where possible 25:26- When it becomes dangerous: bradycardia, orthostatic changes, and the malnourished heart 28:34- Setting expectations with patients and parents around timeline and testing frequency 30:31- The Emory Women's Sports Medicine program and the cross-institutional community behind it Resources mentioned: IOC RED-S CAT2 Tool (2023)- free Excel-based risk stratification tool for clinicians Female Athlete Triad Coalition- updated DEXA scan guidelines for adolescent and adult athletes Emory Women's Sport and Wellness Conference- Saturday, August 15th, in-person and virtual; registration opening soon Connect with Dr. Pasculli through the Lane 9 Directory at lane9project.org/directory Connect + get support: Are you an athlete? How hard should you actually ride the IRONMAN bike leg? The answer is more nuanced than simply copying the pros. And getting it wrong often leads to a long walk in the marathon. In this Q&A, Coach Rob Wilby breaks down the numbers behind smart bike pacing so you finish the bike with enough left to run well.In this episode:Why your FTP percentage has to drop the longer you're on the bike (and why backwards-engineering a pro's 82% will blow your race apart)The TSS budget cap that holds true whether you ride 4:30 or 8:00 (plus theequivalent for 70.3). Regina Calderone didn't follow a blueprint. She followed her passion and it led her somewhere she never expected. In this episode, Hugs sits down with his friend Regina, founder of RCP Team, a full-service high-volume youth sports and school photography company based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. In just three years, Regina grew her business by over 300% and then grew it another 75% after that. But the numbers aren't what makes this story remarkable. It's everything she was carrying while building it. Regina opens up about leaving a marriage where she felt invisible, rediscovering herself at her very first photography conference, and how it took 18 months of hard inner work to become strong enough to walk away and start over — with two kids and a brand new business in tow.She also shares how she went from never having run a mile in her life to completing a half Iron Man in September 2024.This episode is for the women building quietly. For anyone who's been called selfish for putting themselves first. For every person who's said "I'm not ready yet" when really, the only thing left to do is show up.
It’s ICECO Month, and they brought in the right guy for it. David from ICECO says that after COVID changed everything. Like a lot of people, he went outside, went wheeling, and ended up pivoting his whole career around it. Now he’s working with a brand that started in OEM refrigeration — manufacturing the internals that go inside other companies’ products — before expanding into the outdoor and overlanding space. That OEM history matters because it’s where the technology comes from. ICECO runs SECOP compressors, which articulate up to 40 degrees without throwing an error — something Jimmy can personally relate to after loading a competitor’s fridge into his truck and watching it fault out. The conversation goes well past compressor specs. David and Tyler get into the framing that stuck with Jimmy most by the end: a fridge isn’t a recreational product that you also use at home — it’s a lifestyle tool that you bring with you. Jimmy’s been using a small fridge for grocery runs with his wife. She loads the car fridge first, doesn’t have to make the store her last stop, and comes home when she feels like it. That’s not overlanding. That’s just Tuesday. And it opened up a whole line of thinking about how the technology is circling back to everyday life after coming through the outdoor market. From there the episode covers some of the new product stuff: the refrigerated backpack (cold drinks on a day hike — the gap between “car camp” and “pack everything in”), the VL45 Plus front-opening drawer fridge that launched on Kickstarter June 10th (Tyler’s take: this solves the “I have to keep the whole back seat clear to open the lid” problem), and the ICECO x PRP collab coolers. David also teases some upcoming product lines he can’t fully get into — racing cooling systems among them, including what sounds like a wearable air conditioning system for fire suits. Tyler’s response: he wants a refrigerator fanny pack for one beer.
