It's time for another Marvel Monday. This week, it's time to catch back up with Tony! ABOUT IRON MAN 2With the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR IRON MAN 2May 7, 2010 | TheatersCAST & CREW OF IRON MAN 2Robert Downey Jr. as Tony StarkGwyneth Paltrow as Pepper PottsDon Cheadle as RhodeyScarlett Johansson as Natasha RomanoffBRAN'S IRON MAN 2 SYNOPSISThe movie kicks off in Russia, where news has spread that Tony Stark is Iron Man. We meet Ivan Vanko, who is attempting to build an arc reactor like the one keeping Tony alive. His father, Anton Vanko, helped create the original arc reactor prototype alongside Tony's dad, Howard Stark.Six months later, Stark is constantly bragging that his Iron Man armor is helping maintain world peace. He's summoned to a government hearing where officials demand that he turn over the Iron Man technology. Tony's rival, Justin Hammer—now the military's main defense contractor—is also there. Hammer presents evidence showing that foreign nations are close to developing their own versions of Iron Man suits. Stark refuses to hand over the technology, insisting that other countries and competitors (including Hammer Industries) are decades away from recreating his work and that the armor is his personal property.Meanwhile, the core in the arc reactor that keeps Stark alive and powers the armor is slowly poisoning him. Believing he's running out of time, Tony suddenly names Pepper Potts the new CEO of Stark Industries and hires someone named Natasha Rushman as her replacement. After discovering he's more than 50% poisoned, Stark impulsively decides to drive in a Formula 1 race. Mid-race, Vanko shows up and attacks Tony with electrified whip weapons. The fight is intense, but Tony uses the Iron Man suit to defeat Vanko, who is arrested. However, Justin Hammer has Vanko's death faked and breaks him out of prison, recruiting him to help take Stark down.Feeling overwhelmed by his impending death, Tony throws himself a birthday party and gets completely wasted while wearing the Iron Man suit, showing off party tricks to random guests. His friend, Colonel James Rhodes, shows up to intervene. Rhodes puts on Stark's Mark II armor, fights Tony, and ultimately delivers the suit to the military.Feeling sorry for himself, Tony sulks while eating donuts inside a giant donut. Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., arrives and asks to talk. He reveals that “Natasha Rushman” is actually undercover agent Natasha Romanoff. She injects Tony with something that will temporarily keep him alive longer. Fury also reveals that Howard Stark was a founding member of S.H.I.E.L.D., whom Fury knew personally.Fury gives Tony some of his father's old materials, including a hidden message embedded in a model of the 1974 Stark Expo. Tony realizes the model contains a diagram for a brand-new element. With J.A.R.V.I.S.'s help, he successfully synthesizes it, curing himself and upgrading his arc reactor.Meanwhile, Vanko refuses to build traditional combat suits for Hammer, instead creating a fleet of armored drones. Hammer, annoyed but desperate, rolls with the idea and plans to debut them at the Stark Expo.Vanko contacts Stark, revealing that he's still alive and promising revenge. With his new element untested in real combat, Tony suits up anyway and prepares for whatever comes next. Ironman swim training is widely misunderstood. Many age-group triathletes assume they need more swim volume or harder swim sets, when what they really need is better, more efficient swimming that sets up the rest of the race.In this episode, we break down the five factors that matter most for Ironman swim performance, especially for time-crunched athletes balancing training with work and life. We talk about why the Ironman swim is not a fitness test, why economy and calm matter more than raw speed, and how poor swimming quietly sabotages bike power and run durability later in the race. You'll learn why swim frequency often beats swim volume, how to make technique work actually transfer to racing, and which open-water skills meaningfully reduce energy cost on race day. We also discuss how swim training should be integrated with bike and run training, rather than treated as a separate performance goal. This episode is about leverage. If you want to exit the water composed, preserve energy, and start the bike in control, this is the swim training framework that actually works for Ironman racing.

Episode Description What do you do with a weekend when there's no football to watch? That's the burning question as The JB and Sandy Show dives into a whirlwind of sports withdrawal, wild competitions, and Austin's most buzzworthy happenings!
This week on Talking Triathlon we ask the big question behind the episode title: can Kristian Blummenfelt win Kona? We dive into Kristian's extraordinary VO2 numbers and discuss what they actually tell us, whether they translate to Ironman world championship success? We also cover the rebrand of the Bianchi Pro Triathlon Team, with Bianchi stepping in as title sponsor after replacing BMC, and what that means for podcast hosts who have already ordered a Bianch TT bike. From there we discuss Ironman's new 20 metre draft zone rule and while we think it is good for fair racing, it will be bad for broadcast and fans of the sport. Looking ahead to the weekend, we preview Challenge Sir Bani Yas with a strong field including Pierre Le Corre, Emil Holm, Henri Schoeman, Fenella Langridge, Natalie Van Coevorden and Ellie Salthouse. We also recap racing from Qatar, where Brad Weiss took the men's win and Rachel Klamer claimed victory in the women's race. After 13 years of practicing medicine, I'm not here to pretend I have it all figured out. I am here to share what experience has quietly, steadily taught me.In this episode, I'm reflecting on 13 lessons I've learned in my 13 years as a PA—from why people and schedules matter more than specialty, to how burnout isn't something you beat but something you learn to monitor, to why there is absolutely no award for doing it the hard way. This isn't a how-to episode or a deep clinical dive. It's an honest, human reflection on what it takes to build a career in medicine that actually lasts. Consider this an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask yourself: what have I learned in my own years of practice?Inside this episode, we talk about:Why culture, autonomy, and respect matter more than we're taughtHow your real legacy lives outside the hospital or clinicWhy medicine is an Ironman, not a sprintBurnout as a chronic condition—not a personal failureThe power of mentorship, sponsorship, and turning around to help othersNegotiation as a skill we were never taught—but desperately needWhy part-time practice still countsAnd the truth about martyrdom (spoiler: there's no prize)Reflection isn't indulgent. It's how we make this work sustainable—for ourselves and for the clinicians coming behind us.SPONSORS:ADVANCED PRACTICE PLANNING, LLC: advancedpracticeplanning.com/fiSERMO https://app.sermo.com:443/?sermoref=39d97a2c-f699-4f8b-b2f9-1eb131e18c75&utm_campaign=tell-a-friend CONNECT FREE 30-MINUTE COACHING CONSULT https://calendly.com/the-pa-is-in/gen-call 1-ON-1 NEGOTIATION CONSULT https://calendly.com/the-pa-is-in/negotiateCONNECT WITH TRACY

Send us a textWhat happens when grit, humor, and sharp self-advocacy meet a system that still talks over disabled people? We sit down with author, podcaster, and athlete Win Charles for a wide-open conversation about cerebral palsy, pain that won't be ignored, and the stubborn hope that keeps her training for Kona even as she prepares for a hip replacement at 37.Win breaks down what CP actually feels like—spasticity that clamps like a rubber band, a startle reflex that can derail recovery—and the cascading impact of a fall that left her hip 50 degrees out of the socket. She shares the moments that cut deepest: being dismissed at the ER, a pre-op staffer asking others to sign for her, and an anesthesiologist who brushed off her documented allergy. Through it all, she models what real advocacy sounds like: clear language, repeated boundaries, and a refusal to surrender decision-making power over her own body.We widen the lens to education, where accommodations exist on paper but often vanish in practice. Win calls out professors who skip IEPs, highlights the invisible labor students carry, and offers concrete steps for allies: learn the basics of CP and disability, shadow a special education teacher, and design access before it's requested. Then we come back to the everyday—the narrow clinic doorway, the broken door button, the shower that turns into a puzzle—because access lives or dies in these small, solvable details. There's joy here too. Win's Ironman story challenges every lazy myth about disability and ambition, and her rebuild plan after surgery is both disciplined and hopeful. The throughline is simple and strong: speak to the person, not the aide; hold the door when the button fails; believe people when they describe their bodies; and when it's your turn to move, just do it.If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review to help others find conversations that center dignity, access, and action. Your support keeps these stories in the light.Support the show

Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
Are you wondering whether Wonder Man is worth your time? In this episode, we break down Marvel's latest Disney+ series, give you the essential background on the character, and explain what you actually need to know before diving in. From Simon Williams' comic book origins to his surprising connections with Vision, Scarlet Witch, and the Avengers, we cover the fun facts, controversies, and powers that shaped Wonder Man long before his MCU debut. We also dig into how Wonder Man fits into the MCU under the Marvel Spotlight banner—designed to be more grounded, character-driven, and accessible without deep MCU homework. Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a struggling actor hiding dangerous superpowers, and Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery, the series leans hard into Hollywood satire, mentorship, and the bizarre "Doorman Clause" that bans super-powered people from acting. Our reactions are… mixed. While the show shines as a personal story about ambition, insecurity, and creative survival—anchored by a standout performance from Ben Kingsley—it struggles with tone, realism, and the weight of its MCU identity. We talk about what works, what doesn't, and whether Wonder Man feels like a forgotten experiment or a meaningful setup for something bigger down the road. Watch the YouTube version here for the best experience. Listen to the podcast episode here: Written WONDER MAN Review Wonder Man is the 19th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (including both live-action and animated projects) and arrives as part of Phase 6. The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye, Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, crossing superhero franchises after playing Black Manta in DC's Aquaman films, stars as Simon Williams, a struggling actor auditioning for the lead in a remake of Wonder Man, a low-budget 1980s action film that Simon once bonded over with his father. Simon carries a dangerous secret: he has explosive superpowers that he can't fully control. Worse, he must keep those powers hidden if he wants any chance at an acting career thanks to the Doorman Clause, a rule that bars super-powered individuals from working as actors. One episode dives into the origins of this clause, and it's easily among the series' most entertaining and imaginative chapters. Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, the infamous actor hired to portray the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. Since then, the character has appeared in the Marvel short All Hail the King and film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Here, Trevor is once again chasing relevance—and is also auditioning for a role in the Wonder Man remake. Interestingly, the series never clearly states where it fits into the MCU timeline. There are only light references—photos on walls, casual mentions of "shield throwing." Frankly, that restraint is welcome. It's firmly set in the present day on the main MCU Earth, and that's more than enough. Had this been set on another timeline or Earth, this review probably wouldn't exist. Character Over Capes At its core, this is a strong, personal story about two people supporting each other in a brutal industry. Simon approaches acting with intense seriousness—reminiscent of Dustin Hoffman's character in Tootsie—while Trevor, as a mentor figure, pushes him to loosen up and trust the words on the page. Wonder Man is far more interested in the relationship between Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery than in building a new costumed icon. Through their conversations, the series thoughtfully explores what it actually means to be an actor. Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley make for an engaging, surprisingly balanced duo. The show wisely avoids leaning into easy odd-couple clichés, which elevates their dynamic. If you enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at show business in The Studio or Hacks, there's a lot here to like. Wonder Man ups the stakes by adding uncontrollable superpowers into an already stressful industry where almost nothing goes your way. Tone & Reality Gaps Tonally, Wonder Man struggles. It can't always decide whether it wants to be serious and emotional or silly and farcical. It oscillates between the two. The dialogue is often grounded and well-written, but the situations frequently feel forced—bent to serve the script rather than emerging naturally from reality. Living in Los Angeles, where the series is set, makes some of these moments especially hard to ignore. Being under a tight deadline to submit an audition tape and deciding to drive from Hollywood to Malibu and back—congratulations, you've just wasted three hours. These issues extend to the on-set scenes. Having worked in the film industry, many of these moments rang false. A day player wouldn't halt production because they have extensive notes. There are numerous story hiccups where disbelief must be suspended simply to keep the plot moving. A test audience likely would have flagged many of these. Performances & Standout Moments Any time Ben Kingsley is on screen, he's impossible not to root for. Simon, by contrast, is difficult to like until the final two episodes. That's clearly intentional—he's closed off and emotionally blocked—but watching someone repeatedly sabotage themselves is frustrating, even if it's thematically justified. One unquestionable highlight is the episode centered on the Doorman Clause, "Doorman". Josh Gad's appearance, along with his reworked version of "In Summer," is delightful and injects much-needed energy and creativity into the series. Release Strategy & Final Verdict Marvel continues to undermine its TV output with its release strategy. Ironheart dropped its six episodes across two days. Echo released all five at once. Wonder Man follows suit with all eight episodes dropping in a single day. The result? These shows are consumed quickly and forgotten just as fast. By the time Daredevil Season 2 arrives in March, this will likely be one of those "Oh yeah… what happened on Wonder Man again?" series.I went in with an open mind and high expectations—this is Marvel, after all. In the end, I liked Wonder Man, but too much got in the way of loving it. SPONSORS Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland. "Thomas JANEuary" concludes with 2018's The Predator, an attempt to resurrect, revitalize, and "event-ize" the classic sci-fi action franchise. To do so, 20th Century Fox recruited famed Hollywood action screenwriter and the acclaimed director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Nice Guys, and Iron Man 3 (and co-star of the original Predator movie), Shane Black, as well as his former Monster Squad collaborator Fred Dekker, to helm a new entry with an interesting ensemble cast. But The Predator would face a particularly rocky road to the big screen, and we're here to discuss the film's various production headaches and controversies...and explore the important question of the month = what's the deal with Thomas Jane in this one?? "I stopped doing what I didn't want to do anymore. It's not hard to stop doing something you don't want to do... I didn't want to drink anymore." - Chris LeverettIn this incredibly vulnerable and powerful episode, we step away from the usual technical discussions of self-funding and insurance captives to tackle a pervasive, often silent issue in our industry: addiction and sobriety. My guest is Chris Leverett, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Employee Benefits at TexCap Insurance. While Chris is a veteran in the benefits space, today he shares his personal testimony of battling high-functioning alcoholism while trying to maintain a career, a marriage, and a family.Chris opens up about the "boiling frog" effect of social drinking in the business world, the crushing weight of keeping up appearances, and the terrifying rock-bottom moments, including a lapse in insurance coverage during his daughter's premature birth, that finally led him to seek help.We discuss the freedom found in admitting powerlessness, how he replaced the "monster" of addiction with the discipline of Ironman triathlons, and how to navigate the alcohol-heavy social scene of insurance events without losing your edge.If you or someone you know is struggling in silence, this episode provides a blueprint for finding hope, help, and a better life on the other side.Thank you to our 2026 sponsors!ParetoHealth: ParetoHealth empowers midsize employers with a long-term solution to reduce volatility and lower overall health benefits costs. Marvel Mondays continue as we move through the early MCU with the franchise's second entry.ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE HULKBruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the U.S. Government, must find a cure for the monster he turns into whenever he loses his temper.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THE INCREDIBLE HULKJune 13, 2008 | TheatersCAST & CREW OF THE INCREDIBLE HULKEdward Norton as Bruce BannerLiv Tyler as Betty RossTim Roth as Emil BlonskyWilliam Hurt as General “Thunderbolt” RossTim Blake Nelson as Samuel SternsBRAN'S THE INCREDIBLE HULK SYNOPSISThe movie kicks off with a quick montage explaining how Bruce Banner became the Hulk. You know the deal. The military, however, is very interested in finding him because… he's extremely dangerous.Five years later, Bruce is living in Brazil, lying low. He's doing breathing exercises to keep his heart rate down and working at a bottling factory. He's also desperately searching for a cure for his Hulk-ness, secretly chatting online with someone named Mr. Blue. One day at work, Bruce cuts his finger, and a drop of his blood falls into one of the bottles. That bottle eventually makes its way to the U.S., where it causes serious problems for the guy who drinks it. Using this contaminated bottle, the military tracks Banner's location. A strike team led by Emil Blonsky is sent in to capture him.Bruce transforms into the Hulk and completely wrecks Blonsky's team. Blonsky, instead of being terrified, is impressed and immediately wants that power for himself. He agrees to be injected with a small dose of a super-soldier serum connected to the original Hulk experiment. Surely nothing bad will happen.Bruce returns to the States to grab some of his old research and reunites with his former girlfriend, Betty Ross. Blonsky attacks again, and when Betty is put in danger, Bruce transforms into the Hulk. Hulk fights off the military—including Blonsky—and escapes with Betty. Now officially on the run together, Bruce contacts Mr. Blue, who urges them to meet in New York City.Mr. Blue turns out to be Dr. Samuel Sterns, a cellular biologist who claims he's developed a possible antidote. They test it—and it actually works. But Sterns reveals he's also been stockpiling Bruce's blood samples, believing its “limitless potential” could revolutionize medicine now that a cure exists.Bruce immediately points out that this is a terrible idea because the military is absolutely going to weaponize it. (Did we learn nothing from Iron Man?)Right on cue, Blonsky and the military arrive, capture Banner, and take him away. Blonsky stays behind and forces Sterns to inject him with Banner's blood. Sterns warns him that combining the serum with the radiation already in his body could turn him into something far worse—an Abomination.Blonsky hears the name and says, “Cool. Do it.”Blonsky mutates into a massive, rage-filled monster even bigger and stronger than the Hulk and immediately starts destroying Harlem.Bruce realizes he has to stop him. He jumps from a helicopter, transforms mid-fall, and the Hulk takes on Abomination in an extended, brutal battle across the city. Hulk ultimately defeats him by choking him with a massive chain, stopping only when Betty begs him not to kill Blonsky. After a quiet moment with Betty, Hulk flees the scene and disappears. One month later, Bruce is in Bella Coola, British Columbia. Instead of trying to suppress the Hulk, he's learning to transform on purpose. As his eyes turn green, Bruce smiles. Issue #13 drops a massive bombshell with Ujigami's true identity being Splinter. When you decided to make him the force hunting the Turtles' enemies, what was the emotional core you wanted readers to feel first — shock, tragedy, or inevitability?2. Ujigami isn't just a villain; he's a moral crisis for the Turtles. Was your goal to make this run less about defeating an enemy and more about redefining what justice means for the team?3. In #14, the brothers split up to protect their former enemies from Splinter. That's such a powerful reversal of classic TMNT dynamics — what does this say about how the Turtles have grown since their early days of black-and-white morality?4. You've written a lot about identity and duality in your career. How did that background influence your approach to Splinter becoming Ujigami — a mentor turning into something almost mythic and terrifying?5. Shinigami's introduction brings in mysticism from the 2012 animated series. What made this moment in your run feel right for folding her into IDW continuity, and how did you retool her to fit the tone of your story?6. Your first two issues lean hard into supernatural elements — ninja mythology, death spirits, and destiny. Was that a conscious pivot from recent TMNT runs that focused more on politics and street-level crime?8. You've said the Turtles work in any genre. With Ujigami and Shinigami, you're clearly leaning into horror and dark fantasy — were there specific myths, folktales, or manga influences that shaped this arc?9. You and Freddie E. Williams II are creating some striking, eerie imagery in these issues. How did your collaboration evolve once you realized this arc would live in such a darker, more mystical space?10. With Ujigami revealed and Shinigami now in play, it feels like the table has finally been set for the larger story you and Freddie have planned. Without giving anything away, what should readers be emotionally bracing for as this arc unfolds — heartbreak, redemption, or something even more unexpected?11. If the Turtles had to explain Ujigami to April in the most “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” way possible — full of bad metaphors and half-accurate summaries — which brother would do the worst job, and what would his explanation sound like?
Today, we go deep on swimming but keep it relatively simple so you can work on things that matter and lock them in. We talk about some of the most important fundamentals regarding swimming: breathing, body position, and body control. There will be big wins in your swimming if you can master the basic principles of swimming. We also get into how you should be breaking up your week regarding form, intensity, and endurance. We'll look at getting a bigger return for your energy investment, why the hips are critical, why you're probably too tense in the water, and the soon to be famous Light Switch Test. It's a brand-new series launch! Marvel Mondays are officially here, and we're kicking things off with the movie that started it all.ABOUT IRON MANAfter being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR IRON MANMay 2, 2008 | TheatersCAST & CREW OF IRON MANRobert Downey Jr. as Tony StarkGwyneth Paltrow as Pepper PottsTerrence Howard as RhodeyJeff Bridges as Obadiah StaneBRAN'S IRON MAN SYNOPSISWe meet playboy Tony Stark. He's in the back of a military Humvee, answering all their questions about how cool he is, when they're suddenly attacked by Stark Industries explosives. He passes out—and when he comes to, he realizes he's being held captive.Cut back 36 hours earlier. Tony is supposed to be receiving an award… except he doesn't show up. He's too busy “working.” After the event, a journalist confronts him about selling weapons to terrorists. He denies it—and then they hook up. So that's Tony.We meet Pepper Potts, Tony's hyper-competent personal assistant; “Happy” Hogan, his bodyguard and chauffeur; and most importantly, J.A.R.V.I.S., his personal AI system.Tony heads to Afghanistan to show off his flashy new “Jericho” missile. It's a big deal. It's also very bad.Now we're back at the beginning. Tony was critically wounded in the ambush, but fellow captive Yinsen built an electromagnet to keep shrapnel from reaching Tony's heart and killing him. Problem… temporarily solved.Tony's captors are the Ten Rings terrorist organization, and they demand he build a Jericho missile. If he doesn't, he won't be set free. Instead of building the missile, Tony secretly builds a weaponized suit to help them escape. The Ten Rings discover his plan, and Yinsen sacrifices himself to distract them while the suit powers up. Tony fights his way out of the cave, finds Yinsen dying, and—furious—destroys the terrorists' munitions before flying away. He eventually crashes in the desert, destroying the suit. After being rescued by Rhodey, Tony returns home and announces that Stark Industries will no longer manufacture weapons. Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), his father's old partner and the company's acting manager, warns him this could destroy the company and its legacy. Tony reveals he has built a new miniaturized arc reactor—one capable of providing clean energy to the entire planet. In his workshop, Tony builds an improved Iron Man suit and a more powerful arc reactor for his chest. Pepper places the original reactor in a glass display case. When Stane presses for details, a now-suspicious Tony keeps his work to himself. At Tony's first public appearance after his return, reporter Christine Everhart reveals that Stark Industries weapons—including the Jericho—have been delivered to the Ten Rings and used to attack Yinsen's home village. Tony also learns Stane is attempting to remove him as head of the company. Enraged, Tony suits up and flies to Afghanistan, saving the village and dealing a devastating blow to the Ten Rings. On his way home, he's targeted by two F-22 fighter jets and calls Rhodey, revealing his identity to stop the attack.Meanwhile, the Ten Rings recover pieces of Tony's original suit and meet with Stane. Stane eliminates the terrorists and has his own suit reverse-engineered from the wreckage. To track the weapons supply, Tony sends Pepper to hack into company files from Stane's office. She discovers that Stane has been supplying terrorists and hired the Ten Rings to kill Tony—only for them to fail. Pepper then contacts Agent Phil Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.).Stane's scientists can't replicate Tony's arc reactor, so Stane ambushes Tony at home using a sonic device, paralyzes him, and steals his reactor. Left for dead, Tony crawls to his workshop and installs the original reactor. As Pepper and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents try to arrest Stane, he attacks in his Iron Monger suit. Tony fights him but is outmatched without his upgraded reactor. He lures Stane to the top of Stark Industries and instructs Pepper to overload the massive arc reactor. The resulting surge knocks Stane into the reactor, killing him.The press dubs the armored hero “Iron Man.” Agent Coulson provides Tony with a cover story, but at a press conference, Tony abandons it entirely and admits: “I am Iron Man.”In the post-credits scene, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury visits Tony and reveals that Iron Man isn't the only superhero in the world—introducing the Avengers Initiative.
