Today's guest is the one and only, Haley Smith. Haley is a professional mountain bike racer who hails from Canada and has represented her country on some of the biggest stages including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Haley is a regular on the UCI Women Elite Cross Country Mountain Bike World Cup circuit and in 2022, Haley explored for the first time, the gravel scene here in North America, dipping her toe in by competing in the inaugural Lifetime Grand Prix Series—where she walked away as the overall series winner, which included a staggering win at the Crusher In the Tushar, in Beaver, Utah. But Haley Smith, while perhaps best known for her exploits on the bike, is far more than a bike racer. In today's episode, Haley and I will explore a number of different topics including her transition—not away from UCI World Cup Mountain Biking, which continues to be a major focus, but into long endurance events, including targets like the Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships in the Yukon and year two racing in the Life Time Grand Prix series. Her race calendar is bold and ambitious, balancing the explosive power needed for shorter XC racing at the highest level with some of the harshest endurance events on the planet like the Crusher in the Tushar, Leadville and Unbound. We'll also explore topics such as sleep, social media, and why Haley believes that putting your identifying eggs in many different baskets makes you a stronger athlete and human. In this conversation we also dive into Haley's grad school endeavor, where she's pursuing her Master's in Sports Psychology and Haley sheds light on her work as a mental health advocate and openly shares her experience navigating an eating disorder as a professional athlete along with a recently diagnosed condition that will undoubtedly strike home for many. Courageous, strong, vulnerable and articulate, Haley is transparent and honest about her successes and challenges, on and off the bike, openly sharing her story, which includes her many wins and her struggles. Haley embodies what it looks like to be audacious and bounce forward and this is a human and conversation that's sure to inspire.

Self-Advocacy and Needing Help Why is it taboo to talk about certain subjects? Our shared experiences need to be normalized and validated. Jen and I discuss some health issues we're experiencing, and how it can be difficult to ask for help, especially when we've been let down or shamed in the past. We also discussed the importance of advocating for ourselves in the medical system. Finally, we discussed that even though it can be scary to talk about things, it is important to recognize our needs and make sure we have the support we need. Today I'm welcoming Daniel Geey to the podcast. Daniel is one of the UK's most highly respected sports lawyers who has worked on a number of high profile deals over the years. As well as this, he's a published author and podcaster. Some highlights in this conversation are discussion around; being shaped by occurrences in your youth, the requirement for self reflection, the need to practice resilience (we are not all born with it), hard choices are not easy but they are worth it and the importance of enjoying the process rather than only focusing on the end goal. Daniel's published books are Done Deal and his second book, Build the Invisible has just been released (https://www.danielgeey.com/build-the-invisible). Daniel also presents a couple of podcasts; The Daniel Geey Podcast, which is Football Focused and the other; Build The Invisible, which is a series of interviews with which he built the premise of his second book on. On top of all this, Daniel somehow finds time to run a charity fashion brand called Thirteen, In which all profits go towards funding research into cancer. This week we cozy up in the bath with Austyn Weiner, who we finally had the pleasure of hosting at her first Secular Sabbath earlier this summer. Austyn found herself fully immersed in our sensory soundscape on Shabbat. Now, she's back for a more intimate conversation where we get to know her: a deep-thinking, witty-humored, large-scale oil painter. We dive into her thoughts on art, philosophy, and self-exploration. We discover what elements of connection have an impact in her life. From refining her creative practices to reshaping her outlook on the intricacies of familial relationships, this moment in time is full of change as Austyn realizes she's entering a significant new phase in her life. Austyn discovered her passion for creating when a middle school teacher saw her need to channel emotion into physical form by giving her clay and receiving it back in the form of a deranged object - her heightened emotions mysteriously settled once that the energy was transferred into an object form. From that point on, Austyn found that creating art was nearly a form of therapy. It was an outlet for intense self-expression, which manifested itself in how she creates today. Austyn has discovered her need to create is perpetual, as she thinks about painting, the elements of paint, and the way oil works all while trying to relax on a vacation. Art has become larger than life to her, both physically and metaphorically. Her paintings themselves have grown to be large-scale works of art in a larger-than-life studio. This large format method brings her back to a humble state of dwarfing herself in comparison to the canvas; her works become autobiographical in this way. Austyn aims to eliminate the stigma of good or bad art, instead asking the viewer to reimagine finished artworks as expressions of emotion that reflect the artist's tangible experience.Growing up in a Jewish family allowed for a heightened sense of intimacy for Austyn, with instated practices to best spend time together. Austyn's Jewish upbringing tied not only her immediate family together, but linked them with a worldwide cultural community. With the pros and cons of any religion, she chooses to focus on the softness that comes from generations before her. She finds beauty in Judaism and is in awe of all of the many ways in which one can be Jewish, loving the ways in which rituals develop idiosyncratically from one family to the next, one denomination to another, and even country to country. Relishing in the beauty of difference and a curiosity for the dynamics of people, this throughline is also prevalent in her work. It is also what initially drew her to Secular Sabbath and our thread of connection we share in our upbringing within the culture of Judaism. Seeing the building blocks of community and creative freedom happening in front of her eyes at our Summer Soiree, she felt an immediate understanding of our desire to awaken the sensory self in everyone just as she's been exploring her own journey of rediscovery. She finds the Secular Sabbath approach lovable with inclusive day-of-rest practice, outside of religious, spiritual, or agnostic belief systems.Full of wisdom, energy, and expanding ideas, Austyn shares with us a world from which she's come, and leads us to where she's going. So please enjoy this tiny window into a big soulful inner landscape that exists within Austyn Weiner. To join Secular Sabbath membership, you can find us at secular-sabbath.com/membership. Joining grants you access to our Inner Circle community of sensory-exploring like-minded people, where you can gather with us locally in LA for monthly meet-up experiences, and pop-up events around the globe, and partake in our exclusive ambient online community. Showing up Messy When you have high standards for yourself, it can be very difficult to show up imperfectly, and it's easy to go into self-blame. Unfortunately, this usually comes at a cost. Jen and I talk about how to make the shift from focusing on external expectations (and fear of judgment), to focusing internally on what you want and what you are able to give. Sometimes It's Hard Being Me Even if you're having times when you feel “meh,” or you're having fears, anxiety, imposter syndrome, or you're not feeling confident, you can still show up and do what's in front of you. It's ok to struggle and have hard times, but what you tell yourself about these times is crucial. Getting Grounded and Orienting to Yourself Many Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) learn to focus on everyone else's needs. The focus is external instead of internal. You don't learn how to focus on your perspective, your body, or your needs. This can be an orientation injury. The Highly Sensitive Person can see multiple perspectives, and based on your attachment patterns, this can make it harder (or easier) to focus on the needs, emotions and happiness of others. We explore how to get grounded in your sovereignty. GUEST Jen Perry, MSEd, MA, LPC GUEST BIO Jen Perry, MSEd, MA, LPC has been a psychotherapist for 20 years. Today I'm so excited to have a friend in the space join the show. It is often those closest to us in the space whose journey we learn from the fastest. Through friendship, we grow. Today's guest has an extraordinary story about his journey into the Web3 space, and after hearing about it I had to have him on the show. From starting his journey tuning into Clubhouse rooms early last year, to becoming one of the moderators and close friends of those he was learning from - he embodies how curiosity, relationship building, and friendships can change the course of your destiny in Web3. It is my honor to share the stage with my close friend, moderator and community builder of Rug Radio and Dented Feels NFT, and now Alpha contibutor in the Crazy Carl Collective - Aaronito!!!

No matter what Kyrie Irving says or does, I'm not buying it. It's all a sham. He talked a lot on his IG live, but didn't say anything of substance. And being a "voice of the voiceless?" C'mon Kyrie. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Over the last 18 months we have had to pivot and change how we attend and run meetings. Most of our meetings are done through a screen; which has many challenges of it's own. We are going to discuss some ways to run better meetings, keep your attendees attention and be respectful with everyone's time. We also have a list the types of people that are in all of our meetings. Can you put a name next to these titles? Which one are you? The Hype Man/Woman, The Hijacker, The Skeptic, The Challenger, The Deep Thinker, The Sleeper. Tune in as we break down how to deal with each type.

1.) "You are Hyper Aware of the Moon Cycles Every month the Moon completes a cycle moving from new to full. The Moon represents emotions, so highly sensitive souls are often very in sync with the phases of the Moon. Around the New Moon they may feel a calling to retreat or go within and around the Full Moon they may feel a heightening of energy and a calling to release or put an end to things. Highly sensitive souls may not understand their connection to the Moon and sometimes this can cause them to feel anxious or uncomfortable at certain points in the month. You Appreciate The Interconnectedness Of The Universe You have long since understood that the world is not a cosmic collection of utterly separate individuals. You know that every single element interacts to form an infinitely complex web from which existence emerges. With this knowledge, you respect each new thread you create in this world and seek to minimize any negative impact you might have on the whole. You show concern for others and for the environment; you are pro-peace and anti-violence; you choose to spread as much love and warmth as you can because you know how far it can travel. Deep thinkers are incredible problem solvers. They're constantly thinking and understanding the different perspectives that simplistic people simply can't comprehend. They are less likely to make mistakes as they've taken the time to think about all the different options. If you have a deep thinker in your workplace, don't hesitate to go to them for solutions. They'll explore everything in detail and give you an answer that will genuinely help you out. 4.) You Can Sense Negative Vibes Sensitive souls can immediately tell when someone is lying or trying to pull the wool over their eyes. They are also very good at picking up negative energy around a person or situation. Sensitive souls have the ability to see straight through people, which can sometimes be confronting for them and others." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
Matt Halpern, an incredibly savvy and accomplished businessman at the well-versed age of 38, ridiculously focused and disciplined since four years old, and hyper-talented with almost every one of his varied pursuits. As legit rockstar drummer with his progressive metal mates in their band Periphery, Matt and I have a deep conversation about his intentional avoidance of drug and alcohol addiction, even while growing up in Baltimore, arguably the heroin capital of the world. Matt gleams as he presents the massive responsibility assigned to himself as a new father, reveals how he and his gorgeous wife Natalie met, and describes their plans to help their son be the best person he can be, whoever he chooses to be, and what about those sinister toddler iPads and iPhones anyway? For all you musicians and Periphery fans, Matt discusses multiple new educational projects and products, an upcoming new album, and one of the keys for bands to be successful. We walk down our shared memory lane from Baltimore and even with more than a decade of birthdays between us, Matt and I discuss our synonymous life non-negotiables: conscientiousness, introspection, saying yes, great communication, absolute accountability, and refined gumption to get up and go.Matt dives deep into some of his early and never-before disclosed painful problems at home, shares the wicked smart life mantra he learned on the first day of acting class in college, shares his biggest regret, and slyly laughs about his biggest flop.Operating from our proprietary structured daily routines of defined priorities, we discuss the importance of keeping first things first, remaining flexible, thus creating a calm and productive center within. A crystal-clear thinker and speaker, Matt divulges why he does what he does: so to be focused, able to deal with whatever comes his way, remaining to do the good work on the right stuff, and living his best life for his family, for as long as he possibly can.Lastly, he shares his thoughts on man's best friend, and we hear Matt's heart bleed through his words talking about his love for dogs. Please give a listen, I think you will gain something surprising from this one hour and thirty-eight minutes episode, actually, I know you will. ~ Thank you, Roger Ray Bird.

One of my passions is to inspire LGBTQ+ people to connect with their creative genius and use their unique potential to make an equitable difference in the world. That passion sparks a flame that burns bright within me, but what's the opposite? The darkness of course, but in the context of doing inspired work, the opposite is boredom, frustration, and procrastination — the death of joy, creativity, and productivity. Are you excited and certain or bored and frustrated?Boredom results in procrastination, which is doing something meaningless to avoid taking action and facing your fears about why you are bored in the first place. This ultimately leads to frustration, the state of feeling upset and annoyed at your inability to change or accomplish something. To get clarity about your purpose you need to dig deep. You need to get clear about the other areas of your life that support a meaningful and fulfilling purpose. On this edition of Deep Thinker Thursday, Jon and Pam Bloom teach that even the apostles didn't understand all of Jesus's ways-- sometimes God's ways seem strange and disorientating but we are called to live by faith. This can be very difficult for us today as it was for Biblical characters of old but His invitation nerveless is to trust Him. Then the Blooms discuss how our spirits longing for heaven is actually the longing for God because nothing else satisfies.
Deep Thinker, Illustrator-Sculptor, and Scott's brother, Casey Trout, talks about the three pillars that hold up his Christian faith. Pillar One: the transformation Casey has experienced as a result of his faith. Pillar Two: the transformation he has witnessed in others lives as a result of following the teachings of Jesus. And Pillar Three: the fact that western civilization values, such as a bill of rights and the concept of equality only come from a Christian worldview. Which is where Casey concludes that equality under the law is a Christian miracle. Other topics discussed: -The definition of a miracle. -Evidence that is personal and evidence that is verifiable and accessible to everyone. -Thought pedigree throughout the ages and how to trace the genesis of an idea. -Two divergent enlightenments- the European one that stemmed from an atheist worldview and the American one which stemmed from a Christian worldview. -And how Joey and anyone listening to this needs to do a lot more research into how the western world came to be. Questions for the Community: -Where do you think the concept of equality comes from? -If it comes from Christianity, what would that mean for your life? -On whose shoulders do you build your beliefs? On this edition of Deep Thinker Thursday, Jon and Pam Bloom discuss this question and lead us through Scripture (Psalm 10) on how Biblical heroes processed their faith.
Most would agree that this year we won't get the Christmas we anticipated, with traditions & plans interrupted and changed. But what can we learn from this year's changes, that might help us better understand the desperation Mary & Joseph faced over 2,000 years ago? On this edition of Deep Thinker Thursday, Jon and Pam Bloom answer this question and share about how this year's Christmas could give us a better perspective on how Jesus came to be among us, trusting God even when we don't understand what He's doing, what we can find our greatest hope in and more.

Today my friend, we are going to consider what it means to drink in the mysteries of our heart, particularly when they appear to us through messages from the unconscious. In this particular dream, I am in Scotland with a group of travelers. The scene is set in a moody bar. When the bartender asks what I want, I confidently answer - “Give me a drink of my people”. It tastes like complexity. What does it mean, I wonder? A dream, much like visions and any other kind of story, offers a myriad of interpretations. I invite you to dive into this dream, to make sense of it, for you and for me. You see, each taste of the drink in which the dreamer sips represents a specific wisdom. Drink when you feel ready. Drink even if you do not. -Danielle Boo-Doo Fortune Resources from the episode: Uisce Beatha (Ishka Baha): meaning 'Water of Life'. Petrichor: the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. Garrett McBride and I talk about the importance of protecting your data. If you are a business owner this is a must listen. I learned a lot about how these groups are attacking vulnerable organizations. Garrett gives some good thoughts on how to keep your data safe, but more on why it was important to think about preventing attacks in the first place. We then discussed his brief MMA career, his diet and exercise routines. Then we got deep in the woods on politics, the public school system, and the polarized nature of our country. It was a great time and I learned a ton from the conversation. Transformation Coach. Bodybuilder. Yogi. Ex-Investment Banker. Natural Chef. Meditation Teacher. Smiler. Traveller. Lover Of Challenges. Networker. Organisation Guru. Podcast Host.Gareth Martin, knows all too well about trying many things in life. He believes that there is a certain importance around experiencing new things, to help grow you as a person and find out who you are and what you want in life.Gareth was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was never one to shy away from getting involved in team-sports and thrived in the competition and camaraderie, but he also found a lot of peace and solitude in individual sports, namely swimming. His folks got divorced when he was nine years old, and like with many break-ups, it was pretty messy. It ended up creating a lot of confusion and sadness in his life when he was a teenager. He couldn't quite understand the anger he saw between his parents, because Gareth was always a bit of a soft, compassionate kid at heart. When he was sixteen, his life would take a shocking turn when he was involved in a life-threatening head-on collision while riding his motorbike. Gareth looks back on this event with good fortune because he believes that it gave him a different perspective on life which he would not have otherwise had. He knows it's important to make the most of every opportunity because you do never know when your time might be up. After deciding to overstay his first gap year in London, it was time to get serious and find a real job. So he went to a job fair and managed to get himself a role doing the filing at an Investment Bank. Little did he know, that it would be a career which would span almost 20 years. These days, Gareth works as a Transformational Coach, he is also the co-host of The Ridiculously Human Podcast. It took him a couple of years of transformation and upskilling to get him here though. After banking, he spent 3 months in India learning to become a Yoga and Meditation Teacher. He then spent a year studying to be a chef. He also completed a few other life-changing courses, one of which included getting certified as an Executive Coach. Gareth believes in not letting anyone else's thoughts stop you from doing what you want in life. Embrace each opportunity which comes it's way and make the most of every interaction you have. Make the most of your relationships and friendships and treat every moment as a learning opportunity. Doctor of Chiropractic. Science Enthusiast. Networking Machine. Smiler. Deep Thinker. Rock Solid Buddy. Truth Seeker. Pragmatist. Host of The Ridiculously Human Podcast Craig was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, known as the friendly and windy city! He struggled a bit as a youngster with self-esteem issues. At times, he sometimes felt disconnected with his parents, he blamed himself for their fighting and would use food as a coping mechanism, and he ate a lot!!His Grandad, played a big influence in his life and ‘their thing' was to go fishing together. Besides being a great storyteller, his Grandad would also teach all the grandkids how to drive from a very young age, as well as, how to do the Waltz! When Craig was 17 years old, something would happen that would take him on a new life trajectory. Their little family sausage dog, Jackie, was in extreme pain and had lost the use of her back legs. The vet could not help Jackie, so he sent them to see a Chiropractor. The Chiropractor, adjusted her spine and the lame legs she went in on, she managed to walk out on….!! A year later, he was living in his sister's garage in Johannesburg, to begin his studies to become a Chiropractor.Craig suffered a severe setback when he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, an autoimmune condition. It started with inflammation in his eye, and his pupils would not dilate. He then experienced inflammation in his knees and hips, which really impacted his mobility, and being a Chiropractor, that was a rather scary prospect. Through hours of learning and searching and implementing changes in his diet and mindset, he has never been healthier and has no signs of ever having anything.Once qualified, a rather serendipitous scenario led him to accept a job in the Netherlands. It was a bit of a shock moving to somewhere he had never been, had no friends, didn't understand the culture and never spoke the language either!! Talk about throwing yourself in the deep end. Craig is a master of many things, two which stand out are, excelling in his profession as a Chiropractor and his likeability factor. He makes a huge effort to network and make others feel comfortable. He likes adventure and to take calculated risks, and now resides with his wife, Chantelle, in Australia. He gets to see his brother often, lives near the beach, enjoys the great weather, has a thriving practise and Chantelle has a highly successful business too! Some great takeaways from Craig and Gareth:Be Authentic. Be HumanShow empathy - it mattersIt's normal to have tough times but look at it in different and positive mindset to make it easier Humans are problem solversIt should be your choice on how you see yourselfLearn to listen each otherUnderstand yourself to understand others______________________________________The Change Makers are doing a fundraise for their #NoMoreBoxes Online Training and Collaboratory Center.
