Dead Funny History: The AztecsJoin historian Greg Jenner for a funny and fascinating family adventure into the world of the Aztecs, an extraordinary civilisation of gods, gold, chocolate and… the odd human sacrifice. The rise of an empire The Aztec Empire thrived in Central Mexico between the 14th and 16th centuries. Greg takes families and children back to Tenochtitlan, the stunning island city that became the Aztec capital. Home to grand pyramids, bustling markets and thousands of temples, it was four times bigger than Tudor London! The Aztecs built their empire through skill, trade and an unshakeable belief in their gods. They worshipped deities of war, water, joy, dreams and even mischief; with a few dramatic rituals to keep them happy.Sacrifice, skulls and sunshine In this laugh-out-loud lesson, Greg explains why the Aztecs offered human hearts to the gods to keep the sun shining, and how their earth goddess, Tlaltecuhtli, demanded regular blood donations. From “flower wars” to giant skull racks, Aztec religion could be extreme, but it was also deeply symbolic and full of meaning. Not all the stories are scary, though. Between the jokes and sound effects, Greg reveals a lively culture where chocolate was money, gold was “sun poop”, and weddings were celebrated with piggybacks and cocoa toasts!Life in Tenochtitlan Greg and the Dead Funny History cast bring the city to life with humour and heart - from the markets full of maize, avocados and chillies, to the matchmakers who literally “tied the knot.” There's even a cameo from the world's first emojis - Aztec picture writing! It's history told with big laughs, smart facts and plenty of family fun, as Greg balances gory moments with the joyful, inventive side of Aztec life. The fall of the Aztecs Of course, not every empire ends happily. Greg tells how Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortés arrived in 1519, bringing war, betrayal and devastating diseases that wiped out much of the Aztec world. It's a sobering but powerful story about bravery, belief and survival.Funny, factual and unforgettable With jokes, sketches and sound design that make history come alive, Dead Funny History – The Aztecs is perfect for curious kids, families and fans of Greg Jenner's clever storytelling. What if everything could just be easy? Does life need to be heard? Ashley begins this episode by sharing that she was woken up on December 12th with this mantra repeating to her for over an hour, "Release the hard, allow it to be easy." As the holiday season approaches and Christmas draws near, Ashley reflects on the unconscious habits, patterns, and roles that quietly add pressure and heaviness to everyday life. She explores what truly makes life feel hard, and gently challenges the belief that effort and struggle are required in order to grow, heal, or move forward. This conversation opens a deeper understanding of what "easy" really means. Ease does not necessarily equal immediate comfort. In fact, choosing ease often asks for change, awareness, and a willingness to step away from familiar but limiting ways of being. Ashley speaks to how ease can feel unfamiliar at first, yet ultimately brings more presence, clarity, and alignment. The episode offers a grounded invitation to move through the holiday season differently — with more intention, softness, and consciousness — while releasing what no longer needs to be carried. It's a reminder that ease is not something to earn, but something to allow. Ashley also shares about The North Node: A Map Back to Yourself, a newly launched six-week live experience and intimate workshop. This container is designed for those who feel called to reconnect with their intuition, gain clarity on their soul's direction, and return home to themselves. Applications are now open, with details shared inside the episode. This episode is a reminder that life does not need to be forced. Ease is available. And choosing it is always possible. * * * * * * * * * * * * The North Node: A Map Back Home to Yourself : APPLY HERE Attend Ben's Silent Satsang : RSVP Attend Ashley's Solstice Satsang Celebration : RSVP The GUIDED Membership: Everyday Support for Your Awakening — workshops, live satsang, tools and community all in one place. If I were starting my career over today — with everything I now know about ambition, the nervous system, and sustainable success — I would do it very differently. Not because I regret being driven or capable. But because I misunderstood what actually creates long-term performance, clarity, and well-being.In this episode, I'm sharing the five shifts I wish I had made earlier in my career — back when I was running a law practice, raising babies, and equating success with doing more, faster, and better. These aren't productivity tips. They're nervous-system-informed lessons about how high-achieving women can build meaningful careers without sacrificing their health, energy, or peace. What you'll learn in this episode:Why defining success for yourself is the foundation of sustainable ambitionHow saying no more — and saying it faster — protects your nervous system and capacityWhy daily nervous system regulation matters more than discipline or willpowerThe difference between managing your time and managing your energyWhy aligned mentorship changes everything (and why I wish I'd invested sooner)This episode is for working moms who are ambitious, capable, and successful — but quietly exhausted by the way they've been holding it all. If you want to keep your drive while building a career that actually supports your body and your life, this conversation will give you a powerful reframe and a more sustainable way forward.Press play to hear what I'd do differently — and how you can start making these shifts now.Related Episodes:Previous EpisodeThree Keys to Working from Home with KidsFeeling Overwhelmed with Work-Life Balance? 3 Mindset Shifts for Working MomsWorking Mom's Survival Guide: 8 Lessons for Work-Life Balance with Dr. Elizabeth Arleo3 Reasons Your Productivity Hacks Aren't Working (And What to Do Instead)Do You Have These 3 Signs of Mom Burnout? If you're unsure what to post on YouTube going into 2026, you're not alone. The platform hasn't just changed — people's expectations have changed. In this episode, I'm breaking down what's actually working on YouTube right now and why the creators seeing growth aren't chasing trends, viral formats, or flashy editing. They're creating content that feels relatable, story-driven, and grounded in real life. I'll walk you through the shift I'm seeing across YouTube, share concrete examples from different niches (including cooking, real estate, and home décor), and explain why clarity around who you're creating for matters more than ever — whether you have a business or not. If you want more views in 2026 without burning yourself out or turning into someone you're not, this episode will give you a much clearer direction. Show Notes In this episode, we talk about: Why "what worked before" isn't enough going into 2026 The shift from polished, formulaic content to relatable, story-driven videos What viewers are actually responding to right now on YouTube Why clarity around your audience matters — even if you don't have a business The difference between creating helpful content and creating clickable content Real-life examples of what to post in different niches: Cooking and food content Real estate channels Home décor and lifestyle creators How storytelling drives views without feeling salesy Why chasing views alone is exhausting — and what works better long-term Want more support? This week, special guest Rich Jordan takes us inside a marketing challenge presented by his successful acquisition of home services businesses. Do you keep the legacy names of those businesses to preserve local trust—at the cost of running a fragmented, inefficient marketing operation? Do you take the strongest brand you own and roll it out everywhere, even if it may not translate from one community to the next? Or do you wipe the slate clean and create an entirely new brand to unify the whole operation—knowing that it means walking away from money you've already sunk into branding your biggest location? In a conversation with Shawn Busse and Jay Goltz, Rich walks through how he wrestled with those choices, why he ultimately made the call he did, and what he learned along the way. His takeaways included that there are still people who listen to radio, that an authentic story can compete with private equity, and that it is possible to find a marketing agency that will align its interests with yours.
Compass CEO Robert Reffkin wants to change the way Americans buy and sell homes by encouraging sellers to list their homes privately when they first hit the market. That strategy is challenging companies like Zillow, which have made information about home listings accessible to buyers. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noam looked into the cameras as said. "There's no American citizens that have been arrested or detained. We focus on those who are here illegally. And anything that you would hear or report that should be different than that is simply not true and false reporting." That is an outright lie. As but one example, 25-year-old Army veteran George Retes was ARRESTED AND DETAINED, unlawfully and unconstitutionally, a fact that was documented on video.A great pro-democracy, nonprofit organization, Home of the Brave, has release a powerful video exposing and documenting what George Retes suffered at the hands of a lawless Trump administration. One of the most important ways to combat the unconstitutional conduct of Trump and company is to stand up, speak out, and document how Trump's lawless policies are hurting We the People. And that is precisely what Home of the Brave is doing. Glenn sat down with Home of the Brave's Sarah Matthew to discuss the organization's mission. Sarah served as White House Deputy Press Secretary in the first Trump administration but resigned after the Trump-inspired attack on the United States Capitol, and ever since, she has been a vocal critic of Trump.Link to Home of the Brave: www.ofthebrave.org Find Glen on Substack: Glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Raised in Southern California and France, Jessica Helgerson had a unique upbringing—eventually she found her way to design and started her own firm in 2000, moving it to Portland, Oregon six years later. There, she's built a reputation around her thoughtful, layered work, and her values—Helgerson's 1% Project sees her donating a portion of the invoices on her projects to local nonprofits. On this episode of the podcast she speaks with host Dennis Scully about her recent induction into the AD100; opening an outpost of her firm in Paris; and why she has two bosses on every project: the client and the house itself. I'm bringing you along with me to Santa Fe for a quiet, layered look inside the home of designer Heather French—a place that feels deeply rooted in its landscape and gently expressive of the family who lives there. Walking through her territorial-style house, especially dressed for the holidays, felt like a reminder that good design isn't about spectacle, but about intention: rooms shaped by how they're truly used, materials that show age and wear with grace, and traditions that build warmth over time. From fruit-laden tables and needlepoint banquettes to a kitchen designed for lingering and a living room meant for both conversation and rest, Heather's home is a beautiful example of how style can be personal, soulful, and quietly enduring Want to finally define your style? On this week's episode, Imprint reporter Michael Fitzgerald was in Washington last week to interview Alex Adams, who was confirmed in October to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Family Support at the Administration for Children and Families.Fitzgerald asked Adams about a wide range of subjects. They discussed the administration's goal of “A Home for Every Child” and how Adams plans to achieve that; how and why he plans to "barbecue" much of the regulatory language for states when it comes to federal funding and practice; why the administration has made demands that states roll back policies that are meant to protect LGBTQ+ youth; the role of kinship caregivers; and much more. Crystal Guzman's life is a remarkable example of resilience, empathy, and unwavering dedication to mental health advocacy. Drawing from her early experiences supporting foster children and women facing trauma, Crystal developed a mission to bridge gaps in mental health care for underserved communities. Her journey has spanned from hands-on nonprofit work to founding a rapidly growing private practice, always with a focus on inclusive access and collaborative systems that connect professionals, families, and those most in need of help. Through initiatives like her mother-daughter journal and the Get Healthy Directory, she champions intentional connection, community support, and the healing power of sharing our stories. At the heart of Crystal's work is a belief in the necessity of building supportive villages—encouraging families and individuals to seek help, create reciprocal networks, and embrace self-compassion. Her approach to mental health combines practical resource-building with the courage to share her lived experience, reminding others that healing is best achieved together. By destigmatizing therapy and emphasizing grace in personal journeys, Crystal helps others break cycles of silence and self-doubt, while pioneering tools and organizations that expand access to judgement-free care.

(This is the reposted - CORRECT episode and it's a good'un!) In this episode, Lisa kicks things off by shouting out some of the brilliant listeners who've left reviews recently (thank you!) and responds to two specific requests for an episode on “elevated casual.” Those messages sparked today's chat on how to look pulled‑together over the festive season and when you're WFH – because how you show up at home still affects how you feel and how you work. You'll hear loads of ideas for elevating casual looks, from jeans‑and‑a‑nice‑top (the forever hero outfit formula) to easy ways to smarten your everyday knits, denim and flats so you feel stylish but not “done.” Lisa also talks about what she's actually wearing this Christmas, with party outfit ideas that work whether you're heading to a house party (no heel dents in someone's wooden floors, please), a cosy drinks night or something a bit more glam. Jeans and a nice top still absolutely earns its place, but you'll also hear about the hottest trend for 2025/26: underwear as outerwear – think slip dresses, lingerie‑inspired pieces and “nightie but make it out‑out” styling, for those who dare. You can also shop the pod: use the link in the show notes to see Lisa's curated edit and shop her recommendations directly – from elevated casual staples to party‑ready pieces that actually work in real life. Finally, Lisa shares why now is the moment to grab your ticket for the Super Styling Event: The Winning Wardrobe Formula in January. If you've got lots of clothes but never feel like you have outfits, feel a bit lost with your style, or don't know where to shop and what to buy next, this one‑day event is designed to change that. You'll walk away with your 3 style words, a clear way to declutter, practical styling tips and outfit ideas mapped out for your real life – and there are only a few spaces left, making it a brilliant Christmas present to yourself. Noah And The FloodHey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week's lesson, Noah and the Flood, with your child after they've listened! What was your favorite part of the story we just heard? Do you have any questions about what you saw?How was Noah different from the people around him?Noah was the only man on Earth who still walked with God and made the right choices. All of the other people were evil and were doing things God says are wrong. What were God's instructions to Noah? Why might that have seemed strange?God told Noah to build a boat and put two of each animal on it. It was strange because God warned of a flood, but it had never even rained like that before! Noah had to have faith and trust God's plan. What did God promise Noah? How did he show this promise?God promised he would never flood the Earth again, and he put a rainbow in the sky to show his promise. What are some of God's plans for me?To love him forever, to love other people, and to be a part of his family.Think about this part of our Bible verse: “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” What does it mean that God directs your path?It means he tells us what is best and the right way to live. He does that by speaking to us through the Bible, through his helper the Holy Spirit, by talking to us through other Christians, or by talking to him in prayer.Parent Devotional Hey parents! We have something just for you to enjoy this week's Bible story for yourself. Read over this devotion sometime this week as a way for you to reflect on the Bible story your child saw from Church at Home. We love you!DownloadColoring page and Activity SheetEach week we have new activity sheets and coloring pages to help your child remember the Bible story and learn more about how they can step up in faith.DownloadNavigating Parenthood: Step Up Hey parents! Saddleback Parents has great training, tips, and tools to help you win. Check out part 3 of this Two Minute Tip series all about how we can help our kids hold onto faith.DownloadToday's Bible Story Comes Genesis 6-8 (from Bible Gateway)6 Then the people began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them. 2 The sons of God saw the beautiful women[a] and took any they wanted as their wives. 3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with[b] humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”4 In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.5 The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” 8 But Noah found favor with the Lord. The Story of Noah9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. 10 Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.11 Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. 12 God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. 13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!14 “Build a large boat[c] from cypress wood[d] and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.[e] 16 Leave an 18-inch opening[f] below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.17 “Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 19 Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. 20 Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. 21 And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.”22 So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.The Flood Covers the Earth7 When everything was ready, the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the boat with all your family, for among all the people of the earth, I can see that you alone are righteous. 2 Take with you seven pairs—male and female—of each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice,[g] and take one pair of each of the others. 3 Also take seven pairs of every kind of bird. There must be a male and a female in each pair to ensure that all life will survive on the earth after the flood. 4 Seven days from now I will make the rains pour down on the earth. And it will rain for forty days and forty nights, until I have wiped from the earth all the living things I have created.”5 So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the ...

Gay and African at Home is a tender and necessary series that brings queer Africans and their families into intimate conversation. Through gentle storytelling and honest reflection, the series reveals how queerness, language, belonging, and family love unfold inside African homes. In this episode, host Tinatswe Mhaka sits with Dorothy and her younger sister for a warm and layered conversation about identity, faith, and the quiet work of making home a safe place to return to. Dorothy reflects on growing up creative, writing lesbian erotica in her teenage years, and now DJing gospel music while holding the complexity and humour of that journey. She and her sister revisit their childhood, the unspoken expectations around sexuality, and the moment queerness entered their conversations in real and transformative ways. Together, they explore what it means to love someone through uncertainty, how faith communities shaped their earliest understandings of desire, and how sisters learn to listen to each other with softness. This is a story about coming out, yes, but also about growing together. It is about the small, brave gestures that turn family into refuge, and the choices that turn a house into home for a queer person. Close to God—but not truly connected. In this Home for Christmas message from Jesus' parable of The Prodigal Son in Luke 15, we look at the often-overlooked older brother and discover how it's possible to be in the Father's house yet far from the Father's heart. Join us as we uncover what it really takes to stay connected to God—not just in proximity, but in relationship—and step fully into the joy, grace, and celebration He offers.Message Notes: https://notes.subsplash.com/fill-in/view?page=HyD8Bzsf-xDiscussion Questions: https://storage2.snappages.site/PJBKS3/assets/files/HFC2.pdfFind us on:YouTube: YouTube.com/TheHarborInstagram: Instagram.com/TheHarbor_lifeFacebook: Facebook.com/TheHarbordotlifeWebsite: https://www.TheHarbor.lifeWatch/listen on The Harbor AppNew episode every week!
Today, Manon (Awaken into Love Director) sits with Martina, a longtime Awaken into Love ROCD/RA community member and HOME member (our ROCD/RA peer-support group) whose journey will resonate with anyone who has ever questioned their relationship, doubted their feelings, or felt shame about their intrusive thoughts. In this deeply vulnerable conversation, Martina shares how ROCD first showed up three days into her relationship, how misunderstandings from therapists intensified her anxiety, and how years later, during a stressful life transition, her symptoms resurfaced in painful and confusing ways. She opens up about: -intrusive images and "false attraction" spikes -emotional numbness and derealization -the shame of not recognizing her partner -comparing her partner to others -the impact of OCD on her long-term relationship -what finally helped her truly heal We hope our beloved Martina's courage brings you comfort and hope. You must feast daily." - @faithfulfootprints via IG"...Prayer is our primary duty. Prayer is the reason why God has placed us on earth. - Pere Jacques"See the face that was my home.My loving says, I will let go of everything for that.My soul begins to keep rhythm, as if music were playing.Mv reason says, What do you call this cypress-energy that straightens what was bent double? All things change in this presence.Armenians and Turks no longer know which is which.Soul keeps unfolding inward. The body leaves the body.A wealth you cannot imagine flows through you." - Rumi, The Big Red Book"There is something here that is somehow a part of your calling, your mission in life. It's glorifying God in your unique way. It won't always be clear, but if you continue day after day to move according to His promptings, one day you'll look back, amazed at how God used you to be a light in this world. What are you passionate about?"- Sister Mary Scholastica, O.C.D."If you're looking for an escape today, run to Jesus. And you will no longer find yourself escaping but resting."- Selah
