Hello Brave Friends! Welcome to today's expert episode, #244, featuring Mary Van Geffen, author of Parenting a Spicy One and parenting coach for families raising strong-willed, intense children. These expert episodes are conversations with professionals whose work directly supports caregiving parents. In this episode, hosts Susanna Peace Lovell and Jessica Patay sit down with Mary to explore what it really means to parent a child who feels like they “need more than you have to give.”Mary reframes the concept of the “spicy one”—a child who is strong-willed, emotionally intense, and often misunderstood—and challenges traditional parenting approaches that rely solely on discipline and control. Instead, she emphasizes compassion, emotional regulation, positive reinforcement, and what she calls “self-mothering” for parents. The conversation explores how self-care is essential—but not selfish—and how parents can protect themselves during aggressive outbursts while still leading with calm and clarity. They also discuss sibling dynamics, navigating public perception, and the emotional complexity that can arise when one child requires significantly more energy than others. Mary encourages parents to name challenges openly, normalize the struggle, and create supportive environments where both parents and children can grow. This episode offers practical tools, hopeful reframes, and the reminder that strong-willed children can grow into powerful advocates and leaders when met with steadiness and understanding.Find more information about Mary Van Geffen here.Find her book, Parenting a Spicy One, here.Find more information about Life Coach, Susanna Peace Lovell here.Find Susanna's book, Your True Self is Enough here.Find our first book from We Are Brave Together Brave Together Podcast is a resource produced by We Are Brave Together, a global nonprofit that creates community for moms raising children with disabilities, neurodivergence, or complex medical and mental health conditions. For 135 years Chiropractors have been lied to…They've been told that you are either in it for the patients - or in it for the money. Nothing could be further from the truth. Where you land on this issue can be the #1 determiner of your practice and business success - and the joy that you experience from both. Most chiropractors say they want to grow, but very few are truly fluent in the language of money. In this final installment of the five-part series on the two sides of the chiropractic coin, Dr. Stephen and Dr. Pete unpack the financial side of a Remarkable Business and why understanding revenue, margin, and profit is not optional for sustainable impact. They clarify the distinction between a healthy practice and a healthy business, introduce the five essential financial KPIs every CEO must master, and challenge the belief that working harder solves financial problems. When you understand how money works, you stop guessing, start leading, and build a business that funds your mission rather than drains it. In This Episode You Will: Understand the difference between collections and revenue in business terms Learn the five essential financial KPIs every chiropractic CEO must track See how gross profit margin determines whether your business is truly scalable Discover why associate doctor models often break financially Clarify how stewardship, pricing, and overhead directly impact your net profit Episode Highlights 01:53 - Discover the critical distinction between the practice side and the business side of the chiropractic coin and why mastering both is essential for long-term success. 02:30 - Understand that greater impact and greater income are naturally connected when your business is structured properly. 04:40 - Recognize that a remarkable practice does not automatically equal a remarkable business and why both must be intentionally built. 11:40 - Reflect on the limiting belief that making money is enough, when true stewardship requires understanding how money actually works. 12:21 - See how avoiding accounting creates blind spots that prevent optimization and leave profit on the table. 16:09 - Learn why tracking collections consistently is foundational to operational and financial control. 16:39 - Clarify how Collection Visit Average reveals whether you are truly profitable per adjustment. 17:53 - Discover why Monthly Recurring Revenue creates stability, predictability, and long-term sustainability. 22:11 - Understand that gross profit margin determines whether scaling your practice is wise or financially dangerous. 26:28 - Recognize that net profit margin and absolute net profit are the ultimate indicators of financial health and CEO-level leadership. 27:34 - Dr. Kevin Day is joined by Success Partner, Dr. Jeff Langmaid of The Smart Chiropractor to discuss using consistent email communication to improve patient retention, reactivations, and overall profitability. They discuss key metrics like net momentum and lifetime value, emphasizing that keeping and reactivating patients is far more cost-effective than constantly acquiring new ones, leading to stronger, more sustainable practice growth. The 5D Academy with Zarathustra explores universal wisdom to foster total freedom from suffering in all areas of your life; health, wealth, love, and self. Each Academy podcast contains valuable insights and takeaways to become the best version of yourself and create an authentic, fulfilling life. Zarathustra transmits 5th Dimensional Quantum frequencies in each episode with transformational tools while discussing different topics to help you maintain this new frequency in your daily life. Zarathustra has created a practical system of transmitting the truth to his audience allowing transformation and freedom from suffering. Spiritual development requires an open heart. It is virtually impossible for a seeker to advance to higher consciousness if they don't love themselves. The belief system which has been ingrained in our cellular memory from childhood that we are not good enough results in a conditioned mind. The conditioned mind holds the false belief that there is something missing in our lives, that we are incomplete, that we need to gain something in order to become happy and whole, which is not true. After a life time of searching, Zarathustra has blended a practical system of Eastern and Western methods and techniques to help the Academy members to free themselves from anxiety, negative thoughts, lack of self-love and self-acceptance and destructive emotional patterns through a systematic way to raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency, which enables you to live a vibrant life of freedom and happiness. The Key Elements To Freedom: Zarathustra recognizes continuity and consistency are the key elements to freedom. In order to help you achieve your spiritual goals, it's best to have a highly effective spiritual practice, free of dogmas, false beliefs and superstition that helps you raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency as well as the ability to maintain this newly found higher level of consciousness. This translates to a life filled with inner peace, self-love and happiness which is the goal of every spiritual seeker. New knowledge and benefits are gained with each replay. Every now and then you meet someone who allows you to shift your own perspective in a way that you don't see coming, Matt Griffin is that human being. Matt is so many things and like many of us allowed the job to define who he was entirely as a man. It's never just one thing, however that surrender to that undercover identity was the beginning of the end for Matt. In this candid interview we discuss his faith and the challenges he faced in the wake of a child dying in his arms. Homeless, filled with desperation, hopelessness, physically and emotionally exhausted, he penned his last note to his sons. Thankfully Matt found the courage to stay, to keep getting up. Sit back, reflect, and find hope in his message. We are the writers of our tale, we decide how the story ends. My mom always would say, "John its not how you start that matters, it's how you finish". If you are struggling or know someone who is, be the reason they stay and if you can't, send them our way. https://www.linkedin.com/in/authormattgriffin?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_contact_details%3B8vkhvxBTSDezufGji7Mt1Q%3D%3Dhttp://www.authormattgriffin.com/More about Matt:As a former Search and Rescue Swimmer in the US Navy and Undercover Police Officer, my journey has been anything but ordinary. February 23, 2026 Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, Novelist and Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, February 23, 2026, and this is episode #4 in Series 2026. This episode is titled, “Prayer: The Place of Power.” If I were to take a poll of how many people pray daily, the results would be disheartening. Even among believers, which is a very sad commentary on the state of the Church. Before we get fully into our message, however, I want to tell you about my featured book for this week. It is titled Prayer Power: A Simple Manual on Prayer and is available for only $4.99 at the link below or in the show notes: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJMT7F3Y Prayer Power will teach you powerful principles of prayer that will get results every single time. If you’ve been neglecting your prayer life because you haven’t gotten the results you’ve expected from prayer, then this book is for you. If you don’t pray but would like to learn how, this book is for you. Get your copy now and learn how to pray with power. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJMT7F3Y Now, on to this week’s message. What is prayer? Prayer in its simplest definition is a conversation with God. Just as any human relationship requires communication to sustain it, so does a relationship with God. Prayer is the means of communicating with God.Why should I pray? There are many reasons to pray, but here are five of the most important ones: 1. We need help. If you haven’t figured it out yet, we cannot navigate this life alone. If we try to, we will eventually discover that there are some problems too big for us to solve. 2) We need the help of Someone more powerful than we who can do the impossible. Some problems in life have no human solutions. It takes God to solve them. 3) We need direction. Prayer helps us to hear from God regarding the big decisions we have to make in life. 4) We need hope. Sometimes life can become overwhelming, filling us with discouragement and despair. It is at such times that prayer is balm to our souls. When we pray, we are looking to God to meet our needs. We are not depending on ourselves. God has an endless supply of whatever we need. Prayer helps us to tap into that supply. 5) We need wisdom. Life is full of choices, and choices have consequences. When we pray, we receive God’s wisdom to make wise choices that result in happy consequences. The Privilege of Prayer Prayer is a privilege. It is the opportunity to talk with the God who made you and who knows everything about you. Just think about that. In prayer, we get to talk with the God who created the universe. This is a mind-blowing truth. So, my friend, are you ready to learn more about prayer? Are you ready to embark on the most exciting journey of communicating with God in the most amazing relationship you will ever have? You might be thinking, “Dr. MaryAnn, where do I start?” You start by establishing a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. If you have not yet established this relationship, you can do so right now by inviting Jesus Christ into your life. Pray this simple prayer with me now: Lord Jesus, I want to know You. I want to establish a relationship with You so that I can talk with You every day and have You talk to me. I invite You into my life and receive You now as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for sending Jesus so that I could be reconnected with You. In His Name I pray. Amen. In closing, I want to remind you that my featured book for this week is titled Prayer Power: A Simple Manual on Prayer. Get your copy now and begin a powerful prayer life that gets results. What if calm isn't something you're born with — but something you can train? When the pressure hits, most people try to think their way through it. But breathwork expert Nam Baldwin argues that high performance starts in the body. Calm is not a vague mindset or a lucky personality trait. It's a physical and neurological state — and it's the foundation that elite performers rely on when everything is on the line. From Olympic sport to high-stakes business moments, the ability to deliberately shift your state can be the difference between choking and delivering.Nam unpacks why calm is a precursor to clarity, focus and execution — and shares simple, practical techniques to quickly reset your nervous system when you need to steady yourself fast.If you've ever wanted to control your state instead of being controlled by it, this conversation shows you how.Read Nam's LinkedIn post: https://shorturl.at/1OX81 Read the article with Jess Fox: https://shorturl.at/hJKtG Visit Nam's website: https://www.nambaldwin.com/ Visit Hupo's website: https://hupo.com.au/ Use Code "PQPODCAST10" to get 10% off your Lumo Coffee order:https://lumocoffee.com/ Interested in sharing your story? How to Stop Living in Survival Mode and Expand Your Capacity for Peace Why can't you feel peace, even when you love God and pray for it? In this episode, Dani talks about anxiety, burnout, and why so many Christian's in particular feel stuck in survival mode. You'll learn how your nervous system affects your ability to experience joy, and why peace isn't just spiritual, it's physiological. Using a simple “small frying pan” metaphor, Dani explains how emotional conditioning can shrink your capacity to receive peace, and how to gently expand it. If you're emotionally exhausted, over-functioning, or wondering why joy feels hard to access, this conversation will help you: Understand survival mode and nervous system regulation • Learn how to practice peace in everyday life • Rewire stress-based patterns with faith • Grow your capacity for joy, calm, and emotional safety This is Christian mindset work rooted in scripture, nervous system healing, and practical life coaching. You don't have to stay in survival mode. Peace is something you can learn to hold.

Hello Brave Friends! In this special collaboration episode, Jessica Patay and Susanna Peace Lovell are joined by Tash Dillmon and Brittney Crabtree, two of the hosts of Moms Talk Autism for a heartfelt and reflective conversation about podcasting, parenting, and the power of community.Together, they reflect on how podcasting has transformed their lives as mothers raising children with autism and how building connection—especially during the isolation of the pandemic—became essential. What began as a creative outlet became something much deeper: a space for vulnerability, resilience, and shared stories that remind caregivers they are not alone. This conversation explores the ongoing journey of grief and how it often resurfaces in everyday moments. Brittney shares, “Grief is an ocean for me,” capturing the cyclical and layered nature of caregiving. The group discusses how joy and heartache coexist, how community stories offer perspective and hope, and why vulnerability fosters deeper connection. They also honor the unique perspectives dads bring to caregiving and the importance of diversifying support systems. From the challenges and rewards of podcasting to the quiet strength that grows when we share our stories, this episode is a reminder that we are doing this together.Find more information about Moms Talk Autism here.To subscribe to Moms Talk Autism see Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify.Find more information about Life Coach, Susanna Peace Lovell here.Find Susanna's book, Your True Self is Enough here.Find our first book from We Are Brave Together Brave Together Podcast is a resource produced by We Are Brave Together, a global nonprofit that creates community for moms raising children with disabilities, neurodivergence, or complex medical and mental health conditions. Episode NotesThe 5D Academy with Zarathustra explores universal wisdom to foster total freedom from suffering in all areas of your life; health, wealth, love, and self. Each Academy podcast contains valuable insights and takeaways to become the best version of yourself and create an authentic, fulfilling life. Zarathustra transmits 5th Dimensional Quantum frequencies in each episode with transformational tools while discussing different topics to help you maintain this new frequency in your daily life.Zarathustra has created a practical system of transmitting the truth to his audience allowing transformation and freedom from suffering. The Key Elements To Freedom:Zarathustra recognizes continuity and consistency are the key elements to freedom. In order to help you achieve your spiritual goals, it's best to have a highly effective spiritual practice, free of dogmas, false beliefs and superstition that helps you raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency as well as the ability to maintain this newly found higher level of consciousness. This translates to a life filled with inner peace, self-love and happiness which is the goal of every spiritual seeker.New knowledge and benefits are gained with each replay. In this episode, Michaela introduces a NEW aura color named “You Should Too Blue.” This energy shows up when someone believes their suffering should be a blueprint for how others live, heal, and grow.Michaela explores how this mindset is rooted in unhealed trauma, reinforced by 3D societal programming, and often disguised as toughness, wisdom, or “that's just how life is.” Michaela breaks down how You Should Too Blue energy manifests, why it's so common, and how it quietly perpetuates cycles of pain instead of growth. With a blend of spiritual insight, grounded psychology, and playful honesty, this episode invites you to recognize where this energy might be showing up in your life or where you may have internalized it without realizing.
