This months episode is an interesting one where Andy chats to us about Spiritual Vibrancy, what that means as well as how anxiety can be tamed through spiritual disciplines.Check us out!WebsiteInstagramShow Notes:DECONSTRUCTION of the truthWe are living right now where many feel and the world feels we have a right to create or recreate our version of Truth.DISILLUSIONMENT with our lives“Never has any one culture had so much and enjoyed it so little”You can't have gratitude and anxiety in your brain at the same time Let me unpack this further by highlighting some research that explored what it took to create spiritual vibrancy. It's a funny term and it wasn't exclusive to Christianity but applying this can help shape what we need for breakthrough from - DECONSTRUCTION of the truthDISILLUSIONMENT with our livesDETACHMENT from othersThis pie chart that is broken into 3 parts points towards the 3 things that produces Spiritual Vibrancy in an adult according to BARNA Research 1- TRUST IN AN AUTHORITATIVE TEXT (BIBLE)2- FAITH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT (CHURCH)3- POSITIVE FAMILY EXPERIENCES (FAMILY)Now whether you are young or old these 3 aspects are the foundation to spiritual vibrancy. I am sure we would all affirm this and say that the bible is important, church is important and a happy and healthy home is important but my question and probing today is to explore what we can personally do to help these 3 pieces fit together in our lifeThis calling is calling us through His word, into a family of believers to be able to outwork who we were meant to be in the context of healthy families1- TRUST IN AN AUTHORITATIVE TEXT (BIBLE)The thing that is unhinging this is our response to His word…..The terms "indicative" and "imperative" refer to two different verb moods commonly used by the New Testament authors in their teaching on sanctification.Indicative - mood of Certainty, ActualityImperative - mood of Command2- FAITH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT (CHURCH)In the 1 Peter 2:5 in the  NRSV reads a little differently, it says, “…Let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood.” In other words, there is 2 choices I need to make. First, am I willing to build myself on Christ as the cornerstone? (we just covered this when we allow the Word of God to be authoritative in our life as it all points to Christ)Second, will I allow God to work on my rough edges to be built into God's spiritual house? Living Stones Built into a Spiritual HouseEph. 2:19-22 3- POSITIVE FAMILY EXPERIENCES (FAMILY)The third and final part of building Spiritual Vibrancy is a Positive Family Experience Let me show you some statistics in the home that may challenge us all……HOW DO WE BRING THIS ALL TOGETHER??[1]- The Bible is good and you can read that anywhere[2]- The Church community is good but you can enjoy that without any real connection with the Word of God or taking it home [3]- Positive family experiences can happen external from church and void of the bibleBUT when all done together it brings growth individually and growth to those around us….

Even if travelling was still not fully permitted(允许), I had grabbed a chance to go to a place I have never been. Hence, this place is something that I could recommend to you.Basically, it is Sanya which lies in the southernmost(最南的) part of my country, particularly on the end of the Hainan Island. I guess, it is one of the best tourist attractions in my country so that's really worth recommending. Last summer, me and my friends went there as an anniversary(周年) celebration of our friendship. We had different options beforehand(事先). But this place became our top choice. When we arrived there, we were astonished(吃惊的) not only by the beauty of the place but the atmosphere it had offered. The moment we stepped there, our pressure from studies was suddenly gone. In our three-day trip, we had tried activities we had never done before. On our first day, we had tried island hopping(列岛游). This is when we visited different islands and took countless(数不清的) pictures in each. I still remember, our boatman(船夫) was very humorous and easy going, which's why our trip became memorable. On the next day, we had tried surfing. Personally, I had fears of drowning(溺水) in the water but this sport helped me overcome it. Through the surfing coach's guidance, my spirit was boosted(增强) and I dared to try it. It was nerve wracking(令人头疼的) at first but definitely worth it. Lastly, we just enjoyed the sunrise and sunset on our last day. I guess, watching the sun go up and down could be one of the best things we have done there. It was special because during our school time, we rarely go out. So, we rarely see the sun.I recommend that place not only because of the activities we had done there but because of the atmosphere and the people we met there. After your trip, you would surely plan on going back to that paradise(天堂).

Lucas has his eyes set on making an impact at the games and in the sport - a sport in which America has dominated since its Olympic debut in 1998. We cover the halfpipe and how to combine amplitude, variety and execution to convince the judges of your performance. Lucas shares what it's like to stand beside snowboarding legends like Shaun White and how growing up without a halfpipe taught him to be creative, resilient and adaptable. Lucas also shares how organically growing in the sport has kept him grounded, humble and gracious to be considered one of the sport's best. Read the full episode transcription here and learn more on The Jedburgh Podcast Website.Highlights:-Lucas talks about making the US Olympic Snowboard Team and what it means to represent the United States in Beijing. -The United States has dominated Olympic snowboarding since it became a sport in 1998. Beijing 2022 will feature both the next generation of American snowboarding in Lucas, Taylor Gold & Chase Josey and legends like Shaun White.-Fran asks Lucas to discuss the dynamics between competing with your teammates but also driving each other to perform at their best. -Snowboarding is a judged sport. Lucas breaks down the criteria for evaluation and what tricks gain the most attention from the judges. -Lucas talks about the importance of mind and body synergy while showing us the importance of flow state once standing atop the halfpipe.-Growing up in the skier dominated town of Telluride, CO forced Lucas to approach training and competition for snowboarding with a sense of grit and determination. -Lucas explains his thoughts on making an impact and how becoming too elite will prevent him from becoming a role model for kids and helping others grow to achieve their goals. Quotes:-”I always knew in the back of my mind that I would be able to do it.”-”You can pull value from everyone's career.”-“That's the ultimate dream. Make it to the Olympics and have the best run of your life.”-“The criteria for judging is amplitude, variety, execution and overall impression.”-“There is no difference between the body and the mind. The Department of Veterans Affairs is one of the most complex organizations in government. At the center of this complexity is VA disability ratings and compensation; a program developed over 200 years ago to compensate service members while they recovered from service. Today, this program is convoluted, lengthy and often the most challenging process a Veteran must endure during transition to civilian life. Daniel Gade, a retired Army Officer, combat-wounded amputee and author of Wounding Warriors: How Bad Policy is Making Veterans Sicker and Poorer joins host Fran Racioppi to challenge the current one-size fits all approach to VA disability compensation calling it outdated and antiquated; as well as providing recommendations for reform. Daniel served in the Bush and Obama administrations and was the Republican nominee in the 2020 election to represent Virginia in the US Senate.Read the full episode transcription here and learn more on The Jedburgh Podcast Website.Highlights:-Daniel breaks down the VA disability claims process through a personal account of his combat and non-combat related injuries, including a detailed account of being wounded twice in Iraq and the events leading to the loss of his leg.-We explain the numbers behind the VA, the increase in disability claims over the last two decades, the addition of bi-partisian policy and the cost of disability claims as related to other VA education and health programs.-After losing his leg in Iraq, Daniel explains how he took control of his rehabilitation by focusing on the future, what factors would aid in his recovery and what must be done to “self-rescue.”-Daniel used extreme sports like triathlons and cross-fit to prove he could recover and raise his expectations of himself and his ability to thrive as an amputee.-The concept of “Stolen Valor” demonstrates how too many people misrepresent their service, the level of their injuries and their disabilities to increase their payments from the VA leading to increased policy complexity and bureaucracy.-Daniel defines the term “permanent and total” and shows how it allows veterans to avoid treatment to ensure continued compensation.-The path to reform requires three initiatives: focus on employment, link compensation to treatment, separation of military-related injuries vs those incurred while in the military.Quotes:-”It causes veterans to see themselves as sick, or as disabled, or as useless and worthless.”-”Receiving benefits from government has become much more normalized across society.”-”We should be much more careful about how we use the word disability. The current process uses disability for anything wrong with a veteran.”-”The VA spends more on veterans staying sick than veterans getting better.”-”The VA's priority is on paying people disability benefits. Not on rehabilitating them, educating them, housing them, or helping them in other ways.”-“It ripped a chunk out of my thigh and I woke up in a ditch.”-”I was in a surgeon's care in 37 minutes and my blood pressure was 60 over 0.”-”My philosophy has always been find a solution and engage in whatever the solution might be.”-“I realized right then that I wanted to be a person who can do anything.”-”The veterans' Iron Triangle is the most difficult Iron Triangle in all of politics.” Daniel's Three Daily Foundations to Success:-Hug my kids-Connect to something greater than yourself-Find a way to serve othersThis episode is brought to you by Jersey Mike's, 18A Fitness and Analytix Solutions.

Stories are powerful.  Every culture at all places at all times have stories.  Stories are powerful because our lives are stories. Many stories, like Star Wars, have a common formula that Joseph Campbell outlines in his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces.Campbell outlines about 20 plot points, but I just want to highlight a few:  Ordinary person (the hero) living an ordinary life receives a call to adventure into an extraordinary worldRefuses the callCrossing the thresholdGiven Supernatural aidRoad of trialsUpon victory, blessing is bestowed upon the othersThis same formula can be followed in the Lord of the Rings, Lion King, Harry Potter, the Karate Kid, Aladdin, the Hunger Games, Captain America, or really any of the Avengers origin stories. This is all interesting, but it gets far more interesting when we apply the hero's journey to our own lives.  As Christians, the hero's journey is God's plan for humanity.Links Mentioned:I first heard of the hero's journey from the Super Carlin Brothers.  Click here to check out their take.Survey: What would you like to hear on this podcast?Follow Us:Work With ChadGet Your Free TalkTo connect with me, feel free to reach out with questions or to schedule a complementary coaching session: Chad@8thdaycoaching.com

3 Ways to Speak Up When You Know You Should

http://www.sherylkline.com/blogI think it's safe to say that most of us have found ourselves in this predicament. Clamming up when we know we should speak up. Maybe it's an awkward situation. Maybe there is a lot at stake. Maybe it's just easier not to say anything. Whether it's in our living room or in the boardroom, your voice needs to be heard. Change for the better will require us all to speak up when our gut and our heart tell us to do so.Easier said than done, right?Yep, and we're not alone.A recent survey done by LeanIn and SurveyMonkey polled approximately 7,400 women and men in the workplace. While 80% of those polled considered themselves allies, less than half of the women, most notably women of color, say they have strong allies in the workplace. Also, consider that it can be extremely difficult to ‘influence up'. In other words, share your perspective to senior leadership especially when there is a lot at stake. However we feel silenced by others or choose to stay silent ourselves, it can affect our impact and our health. This same study states that ‘Silence enacts a clear toll on us that can contribute towards burnout as keeping our concerns to ourselves harms our wellbeing.'Whether it's for a marginalized group or influencing your leadership, there are some simple (I didn't say easy:) steps to take, so that you and other heart-centered leader's voices are heard, valued, and respected. If we can ALL learn to speak up more when we know we should, we'll be better equipped to:1.) Empower leadership to do the right thing2.) Reduce your and your colleague's emotional tax and the probability of burnout3.) Increase productivity and profitability by empowering othersThis topic is more appropriate for longer form workshops or coaching. But I've received so many emails and messages, I'd like to get you started here.First, focus on awareness.Learn to listen to your gut and your heart. Based on Gavin de Becker's book, Gift of Fear, we take in more information that we can cognitively process. Many times, we have a gut instinct, but we tell ourselves a story or pass it off as nothing important. Be more aware of your gut to get clear on when you should speak up for issues big or small. This will assist with being congruent with our highest sense of integrity.Next, make peace with any fear, doubt, worry etc that you have. These are universal emotions, even for the highest performers in the world. So, they are 100% normal. The difference is that world-class performers know how to use these emotions to their benefit and to proceed anyway in a calm and effective way. It's a choice, but it takes practice. You can start by noticing your emotion, and in a neutral tone and then choosing your next best course of action. For example, ‘I notice I'm scared to call out a micro-aggression/challenge my CEO on his/her request…, but I choose to take action by doing..../' Finally, hone in on acknowledging others, even those who you strongly disagree with. The reason being is that it's a human drive to feel acknowledged and validated. Before we can fully be heard and influence others to act, they must feel acknowledged and validated first. This isn't for them. It's the necessary groundwork for helping others come up to your point of view. Skip this part, and it can be like asking someone to marry you after the first date. Awkward and ineffective. If I can ever answer any questions on this very important topic or any of my other content, please email me directly at sheryl@sherylkline.com . Cheering you on always,- Sheryl

Have you noticed similarities in the messages of popular spiritual movements/influencers and old-fashioned religious dogma? In the last few years, there always seems to be some new impending, major event that will shift reality, expose dark forces, and/or rescue the “enlightened” ones from an oppressive matrix.Sound familiar? “The Event”, “Disclosure”, “Shifting to 5D” – these are almost identical in theme to the tropes from religion – “The Rapture” or “Armageddon”.Why has this been so prevalent the last few years? Because End Time Messages tend to increase during times of social distress. The problem with these false rescue narratives is that they:- Foster fear and separation [un]consciousness- Lure spiritual seekers to misplace their energy- Hypnotize people into an illusion of self-righteousness- Hijack otherwise well-meaning spiritual seekers away from their soulful purpose, like healing and service to othersThis recurring theme of being seduced by End Time Messages – the real term is millenarianism – is a human habit. The reason humans repeat this bad habit is because there is an attachment on the collective human psyche. It is a parasitic thought-form entity that is able to burrow into the consciousness of humans byway of a portal that is activated blame/shame/guilt frequency. But each of us has a choice. Each of us is entirely sovereign. This episode is to help us to stay awakened from false rescue messages so that we may stay attuned to love, unity, compassion, and service to other selves.Millenarianism: The belief in a coming major transformation of society, as upheld by religious, social, or political groups. These movements believe in radical changes to society after a major cataclysm or transformative event. In other words, following a major cataclysmic event, a fundamental transformation of society will occur, after which "all things will be changed".Tricia Carr is a spiritual teacher, empathic channel, multidimensional medium, certified hypnotherapist and animal telepath.Mystic Arts Academy with Tricia CarrRegister or Subscribehttps://triciacarrcharm.com/mystic-arts-academy/ Charmed Meditation Storehttps://triciacarrcharm.com/store/Tricia Carr:www.triciacarrcharm.comhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/charmed-life-with-tricia-carr/id1173744974https://www.facebook.com/TriciaCarrCharmhttps://www.instagram.com/triciacarrcharm/Join the Charmed Life Mailing List for Spirit guidance, show announcements, special offers and free giftshttps://app.convertkit.com/landing_pages/444740?v=7The Lightshine PodcastiTunes https://rb.gy/txw4e8YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChZ9xJNbH9NYhGhz4nVDkVgInstagram https://www.instagram.com/lightshinespiritualacademy/Join the Lightshine Lab!https://www.facebook.com/groups/thelightworkerslab

Five Qualities Necessary for Recession Survival and Growth

Five Qualities Necessary for Recession Survival and Growth During this day and age of uncertainty I am constantly being asked to boil success down to a handful of qualities. Everybody wants the five “secrets” to success. While I am hard pressed to limit the qualities of successful entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals to just five things, I can give you five qualities that are common among all successful people.Incidentally, these five qualities were not developed by me.   They were developed by a researcher named Napoleon Hill as a result of a 20-year study he conducted on successful business leaders. Hill developed 16 laws of success as a result of this study.  All of Hill's laws can be applied to professionals but there are five in particular that separate the winning professionals from the others. Here are the five qualities from Napoleon Hill's work that I believe to be most responsible for success:Quality 1: Successful Business Leaders have a Burning Desire to Serve Their Clients:   This means you must really want to make a difference for your clients and you believe in your ability to do so.   That passion and desire is easily spotted in successful people.  It is a quality that attracts others – clients and referring attorneys – to you like a magnet. It can be difficult to stay motivated under the current conditions. If you watch the news, it can flat out depress you. So, stop watching the news. Keep focusing on the value you provide and why it is important to your best clients. What is your value? How does it make a difference for your clients? Is that value still the same? What additional value can you provide?Be loud and proud about that!  Quality 2:  Successful Business Leaders Make Use of Specialized Knowledge:You have specialized knowledge of your product or service.  But people who grow during a recession also have the specialized knowledge of how to communicate their value, how to build and how to run a business. They have specialized knowledge on building systems that set their business up for success.  They have specialized knowledge in business strategy and they know how to deploy their resources toward an area of need in the market. Specialized knowledge goes well beyond the day-to-day aspects of selling.  It extends to the knowledge necessary to deepen relationships over days, weeks, months and years. This is the perfect time to acquire additional specialized knowledge. You don't have a commute right now. You don't have the common office disruptions. Use this time to acquire additional specialized knowledge. Quality 3: Successful Entrepreneurs and Professionals are Decisive:This is a quality that stands out in a business leader.  They assimilate information and then they make a decision.  You have to make correct decisions and you have to do it in a way that projects confidence in yourself and in the people around you.Let's face it; if you have the will, you can recover from almost any mistake you make in life.  However, you may never be able to recapture an opportunity that presents itself if you don't make a decision.  Great opportunities – golden opportunities – only come along so often – and you need to be decisive to take advantage of them.  Napoleon Hill found that decisiveness was a key quality in successful people, and I agree whole heartedly.Decide right now to invest in your future. Decide to invest in your growth. Make the decision to be aggressive in your acquisition of new business even though others around you are negative.  Quality 4: Successful Business Leaders and Professionals Set Goals:Successful people are goal oriented. This means they have actually taken the time to think about where they want to be in five years, ten years and twenty years.  This may seem too long term given the circumstances. If you want to achieve significant success you need to first define what success is.  That means setting goals.  Here is an exercise you can do to help you get trough the current situation and associated recession:  Pick out five things you would like to accomplish between now and the end of the year.Write these five things down on a sheet of paper.Fold the paper up and put it in your pocket.Review this sheet of paper every time you eat a meal. You will be amazed at the results. When you write your goals down your subconscious mind automatically goes to work to try to help you achieve them.  You will find yourself drawn to activities that will bring you closer to your goals.Once you become comfortable with this process, conduct a similar exercise, setting goals for the next five years.  Even under difficult conditions, you brain will adjust, and you will act to make those goals happen.  Don't trust me. See for yourself.  Do it now. Quality 5: Successful Entrepreneurs and Professionals Tap into the Collective Intelligence of OthersThis is critically important.  You need to have a group of people you can trust to give you honest feedback on your ideas and performance.  You must have a group of like-minded people who know and understand what you are going through and can help you achieve your goals. This last one really resonates with me because when I started my own business, I was a one-person operation.  After having worked my entire career in big firms, I suddenly found myself without a sounding board for ideas.  This lead to a stifling of my creativity. As my business has grown, I have actively sought out successful people to bounce my ideas off of.  This process has been phenomenally value in many ways.  Everyone needs a handful of people in whom he can confide.  When a business leader comes to me and says he needs help with sales I review these five characteristics with him.  Almost always, I find he has not developed any of these qualities in himself.  That's when I ask him a critical question:“Are you willing to adopt these five qualities and use them in your business?”You see, part of Napoleon Hill's study revealed that successful people are not born with these qualities.  They developed them over time.   Success is a learned behavior.  And now I have an opportunity for you.You can join me as part of my Inner Circle. This is a group of business leaders and professionals that meets three times each week to exchange ideas, pass referrals and provide support for each other. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I provide some business growth information – to help you meet your goals for growth and then we have a discussion where you can tap into the power of the guidance and support of other members of my inner circle.  In addition, you also have access 24/7 access to my library of business growth content, information and resources.  This includes online courses, Q&A sessions, and examples of tools my successful clients have used over the years.  This is literally the best way to not only grow your business but also keep your sanity.Normally, membership at this VIP level of my Inner Circle requires a $547 investment per month.  But if enroll today, your investment will only be $147 per month. That's right, I'm offering a HUGE discount to help you get through this difficult time.  To get this discount, go to: WorkWithDaveLorenzo.com That will take you to my special invitation that's only good until the end of the month. And if you act today, you will also get access to eight different courses I delivered to this group in the past couple of months.  This is over $1,800 in BONUS content for acting today.  You only get access to these eight courses if you act right now.The courses are:Course One – Virtual Town Hall: Communicating with Clients During a CrisisCourse Two– Secrets of Power Productivity: How to Get more Done While Working from HomeCourse Three – Persuasive Communication Part 1: How to Craft a MessageCourse Four  – Persuasive Communication Part 2: How to Select an AudienceCourse Five – Persuasive Communication Part 3: Delivery Systems (This is an extensive session)Course Six – Look Over My Shoulder: How to get a Book PublishedCourse Seven – How to Write Better and Faster with Daily Writing HabitsCourse Eight – How to Qualify and Convert Suspects, Prospects and ClientsDon't miss out on this $400 per month discount as well as the over $1,800 in bonus gifts. https://youtu.be/RLwFbUhmDbI 1 Sam 14:24-46 Don’t kill your son I really identify with this story- Both with the relationship I’ve had with my father, and the relationship I’ve had with my son. I wont dishonor my father by over speaking it- but it hasn’t been what I hoped it to beThere have been times when I have had to apologize to my son for my conduct and the battle within has always been the pride of admitting that I was wrong and I need his forgivenessThis is the sin of pride that we see within Saul today and his son Jonathan- it goes far.v44 Saul answered, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”What led up to this: Saul making an oath to fast and forcing everyone else to do it- it wasn’t of God- he’s not a priest. His son didn’t hear the oath- just wanted strength- Sauls pride wont let him admit fault- so he decides that he’s going to kill his own son rather than admit his faulty fast. The Contributing factors to a life of Pride Lack of Wisdom– Saul wanted to protect his kingship and his influence and to get vengeanceProverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.Self reliance– Saul wanted to be seen as the victor- not GodHaughty Spirit- Saul refused to go back on what he said- didn’t want to lose faceHe should have just humbled himself and admit he was wrong! But it was PRIDEAs we progress through 1 SAM we will see Sauls fall and destruction. We’re not even into yet Signs of Pride in a persons life- 1 Being a know it all- you have nothing to learn 2. Thinking you’re above performing a task 3. Unwilling to ask for help 4. Constantly teaching people in conversation 5. Always talking about yourself 6. Thinking you’re better than others 7. Not listening to others sound advice. 8. Always critical 9. Constant need for attention and affirmation 10. Cant take criticism 11 Worried about appearance 12. Unwilling to submit to authority 13. Justification of Sin instead of repentance 14. Name dropping 15. Harsh spiritHow many of those just touched your heart? How much pride do you have your heart that needs to be removed and brought before the Lord? The biggest problem with Pride is that it is the root of the sins of Gal 5:20 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresiesThis isn’t Pride as in “I’ve worked hard to have a nice lawn- look at it” it’s the pride of “I don’t have anything wrong with me and I’m better than others and you better not confront me”Pride takes credit for what you didn’t do (it was God), looks down on others, ignores reality, creates relational problems, minimizes sin, elevates the self, gives God no glory, and is sourPride is killing your relationships with others. Your pride is keeping you from seeking forgiveness from sins. Some of you know God is real and your PRIDE keeps you from repenting How To not Kill your Son (and kill your pride) Be Honest with yourself The sin of Pride was evident with Saul because he refused to be honest with himself and others. He wouldn’t have to have killed his son if he didn’t make the false oath and even after he did repent (like me with my son and the admitting of fault)READ V 37-39 God Doesn’t even answer Saul when he asked, and instead of looking for the sin in his own life, he starts looking at the sin of OTHERSThis is a sign of dishonesty within yourself- when you look at the sin of others instead of yourself- Pride always looks for the problems everywhere except within themselvesProverbs 16:5 Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. Why couldn’t Saul look inside himself and just be honest? Dang it- I shouldn’t have said that guys- that wasn’t God- that was me- I’m sorry- PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE Self reflection is the key to seeing pride in your life- Its scary to find the pride in your heartWhen something is wrong in your life- don’t start looking at ...
