Craig Johnson is a Wyoming rancher and a best-selling international author who writes westerns for people who may not normally read westerns – the fabulously popular Walt Longmire mystery series that has also been turned into a top rating six season Netflix show of the same name. The books and the show closely reflect the community and the landscape Craig calls home. Hi there, I'm your host Jenny Wheeler, and in today's Binge Reading episode Craig talks about the work of creating a country sheriff who is a thoroughly decent man, the magic draw of the annual Longmire Days in nearby Buffalo, and how he is re-reading Ernest Hemingway at the moment, for a very special purpose. We have got three e-books of Next to Last Stand, the latest Longmire book, for three lucky readers in our mysteries giveaway. Don't miss out. Enter today for a chance to win! But now, here's Craig. Craig Johnson - Creator of beloved Walt Longmire series Jenny Wheeler: Hello there Craig, and welcome to the show. It's so good to have you with us. Craig Johnson: It's wonderful to be here, and thank you for getting up so early and making this so convenient for me to be in the middle of the afternoon. Jenny Wheeler: You have got fifteen books and a six season Netflix series. This fellow Longmire has developed a life of its own, hasn't he? We are talking about the most recent book today, Next to Last Stand, but Walt Longmire's life is very much your life, isn't it? I would like our listeners to get an idea of where you are and how you are living, because it does parallel Walt's life very closely. You have written a series about a Wyoming sheriff, and you are a Wyoming rancher. Give us a picture of where you are and how your day unfolds. Craig Johnson: There are some similarities like that, but there are also some differences. Walt is a full-time sheriff, that's a full-time job. It is an elected law enforcement job. Sheriffs are county law enforcers who have to go out like politicians and get votes, and so Walt not only is a police officer, he's also a politician. The reason I chose that particular line of work was that it made him immediately answerable to the community. That is what a lot of the books are about. Introducing author Craig Johnson They are about the community. It is a very thin veneer of civilization here in Wyoming. At the ranch where I live, that I built myself, the nearest town to us has a population of 25. There aren't very many people, so whenever Judy, my wife, and I go out on tour there are only 23 people in Ucross. It would be a great time to come in and rob the place. We are in Johnson County, which is not named for me, I want to be clear about that. It's an isolated lifestyle, I suppose, but I find that to be very conducive to the writing process. Whenever I'm around a bunch of other authors a...
Craig Clark is the CEO of Momentum Consulting — a consulting firm that guides organizations and their leaders in the areas of personal accountability and personal performance by developing and implementing successful strategies. He has spent the past 30 years becoming a foremost expert on the science of human dynamics in the business world and believes that the only reliable approach to produce breakthroughs at any level is to ask, “How do I see myself in the world and amongst others?” What you'll learn about in this episode: How Craig defines “iconic moments,” and how iconic moments can shift our reality and allow us to see the world differently What an iconic moment looks like, with the example of Sam Walton targeting small towns to create a massive business empire How business leaders can easily fall victim to confirmation bias, causing them to have unrecognized leadership blind spots that can hold back their businesses Why we must recognize our own leadership blind spots, and why revealing them can create powerful and transformative “iconic moments” How seeing what you didn't see before can give you an opportunity to be accountable and shift your behavior to increase your performance Why being open to feedback from others can help you find your leadership blind spots and open up new doors to options and opportunities Why the challenges of the global pandemic often cause businesses to retreat to “tried and true” strategies and default behaviors that may hold them back Why automatic behaviors are the opposite of “getting into flow,” and why breaking out of automatic behaviors is crucial for achieving flow What steps you can take to help your team achieve flow, and why a strong level of trust and respect are key for getting there How Craig realized that what he thought was real wasn't, and how this realization sparked his curiosity and made a powerful impact on his work Resources: Website: www.momentumconsulting.com Email: craig@momentumconsulting.com LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/craiglclark/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/momentum-consulting_2/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/MomentumConsulting Additional Resources: Free Executive Leadership Summary report from Predictive ROI: https://predictiveroi.com/research Sell With Authority by Drew McLellan and Stephen Woessner: https://amzn.to/39y7x13 Predictive ROI Free Resource Library: https://predictiveroi.com/resources/ Stephen Woessner's LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/stephenwoessner/

Fully believing in the positive impact of rugby, Craig shares how his club uses rugby to teach leadership skills and to help ‘at-risk' kids figure out what they want to do in life. After detailing their partnership with Western Sydney University, Craig talks about another of his club's aims — to develop more inclusive rugby. We ask Craig about the successes of Two Blue's wheelchair title-winning rugby team as well as the women's group — one of Australia's strongest teams. We talk about how Craig established the Central Coast Sevens, a major international fixture on the sevens rugby calendar and what led to his leaving the organisation. Craig then compares league and rugby, giving listeners an insider's perspective on how money can change the game. We round the conversation off by discussing how sevens rugby complements traditional rugby and why the high-energy and quick nature of sevens is critical in engaging kids. Top Real Estate Teams: What You Will Learn: House hacking as a means to start investing in real estate How Craig transitioned out of his day job and into the business of real estate How Craig used a house hacking strategy to achieve financial independence at age twenty-seven Craig’s strategy for investing in properties where he lives and in other markets The various resources that have helped Craig succeed as a real estate investor Financial Independence Through House Hacking I am excited to introduce you to Craig Curelop, successful Realtor, and financially independent real estate investor. Craig cut his teeth in real estate investing at a young age, by leveraging the “house hacking” strategy, a means of living ‘cost free’ in a property you own, by renting out rooms in the home. Before Craig discovered house hacking, he was working over one hundred hours each week, doing a job he hated, for a manager he didn’t get along with! He lived in the heart of Silicon Valley, so after the burnout set in, the Valley’s startup scene seemed like the next logical move. But startups are volatile—Craig wanted to find a career that would grant him financial independence and consistent, reliable cash flow so he could achieve the time and financial freedom he was after. It didn’t take him long to realize that real estate was the perfect vehicle to accomplish this! “If I can use house hacking to achieve financial independence this quickly, I know I can help other people do it too.” Paving a Path to Freedom House hacking is an investment strategy that has enabled Craig Curelop to achieve financial independence at just twenty-seven years old. He currently has three investment properties in the Denver metro area and three single-family homes in North Carolina! But Craig isn’t interested in paving the path to freedom for himself alone. As a licensed realtor, he is now focused on helping his clients write their own real estate success story, using the same house hacking strategy. If you remember our episode with Scott Trench, it will come as no surprise that Craig got his start with BiggerPockets. Working for them, Craig used his income to put money down on his first property, and he used the cash flow from the property to live for free. Now, just a few short years later, Scott has a total of eight doors in two states! Investing Out-of-State Craig has branded himself as a house hacking expert and it has brought him tons of new leads, both as an investor and an agent. He operates with the philosophy that you should provide value and expect nothing in return, which has attracted enough business to put him on par with his goal of closing 30-40 transactions this year! There are unique challenges associated with investing in out-of-state markets, but with the right resources, none of them are too steep to overcome. Craig is currently trying to set his out-of-state properties up with tenants to generate another stream of revenue, and if all goes well, he plans to buy three properties per quarter in the coming year! Season #1 of Battle Ready Brands is entitled "Startup Horror Stories" where we seek to find as many stories as possible of "things gone wrong in entrepreneurship." Rather than glorify all the success that can come with building a successful brand, we want to hear all the events that led up to the success. Guys, this episode with Craig Hall was incredible. There aren't very many people on the planet who have been in entrepreneurship for FIVE DECADES and have a billion dollar empire. We want to be very clear about one thing though -- Craig is truly a humble, servant-hearted leader. He does not tout his wealth, but would rather boast about his family and the difference he's made in people's lives. His latest book is a testament to that, as he is fighting for today's entrepreneurs and startups... to give them a better shot at success. Have you ever considered designing in a particular niche? Have you heard the term "The Riches Are In The Niches"? It shouldn't come as a surprise that the more focused you are on a particular sector, the more familiar with it you become. And the more familiar with it you become, the more you are perceived as the expert in that particular sector. Graphic and web design is no different. Designers who focus on a particular sector become knows as experts and command more respect and earn more money from clients in that sector. I've talked about niches before on the podcast. In episode 54; Should You Find A Graphic Design Niche, I explained what a niche is and the benefits of choosing one, as well as not having to limit yourself when you choose a niche. In episode 93; Targetting A Design Niche, I teach you how to go about finding and marketing to your particular niche. In today's episode of the Resourceful Designer podcast, I'm talking to Craig Burton, owner of School Branding Matters, a New Zealand based branding agency that specialises in helping schools craft compelling visual brands. Craig found his niche and has spent the past ten years building his company and inspiring journeys in school branding. In this episode you'll hear us discuss: How Craig stumbled upon his niche. What came first, his niche or his business focusing on the niche. How Craig learns about and creates unique brands for similar and yet very different institutions in his niche. Conflicting branding ideas for different schools. How Craig attracts clients ten years into his business. Repeat clients, branding is more than a logo; it's a journey. The Pros and Cons of working in a specific niche. How working in a niche requires a passion for that sector. Competing with non-niching designers Working with non-niche clients. How Craig has changed as a designer over the past ten years. What's your experience with working in a design niche? Do you work in a design niche? On today’s show, I’m joined by my friend Craig Ballantyne, who was actually one of my original mentors. I started following Craig and his work way back in 2010, which seems like forever in the online world and when I was trying to figure the online business world out, I went to a few of Craig’s workshops. Since then I’ve connected more with him and have really gotten to know him much better. Craig used to be in the fitness space with his brand Turbulence Training, and then he started a brand called Internet Independence. Since then Craig’s gone through a big shift in his business and he is now the owner of the popular website, EarlyToRise.com. Most recently Craig’s published a book called The Perfect Day Formula. He now teaches people how to have a more productive day in both their business and personal lives. He does in-person Perfect Day Workshops, where participants get to spend the day with him and then get follow-up accountability and coaching for 12 months. This investment starts at $5,000 and he’s sold over $500,000 worth of these packages using Instagram stories, which he’ll talk about in this episode. We cover a lot here and I ask Craig to share the lessons he’s learned from his own entrepreneurial journey because he’s done so many things over the years. He shares why he thinks that Instagram direct messages are the “new email list”, his tips for having more engaging Instagram Stories, and ways that you can specifically track how you’re doing with them. He also reveals how you can expand your network if you have “introverted tendencies”, overcoming anxiety as an entrepreneur and his #1 productivity tip for entrepreneurs. You’re also going to hear why Craig did this interview with his eyes closed, which you won’t want to miss. Want to win a 30-minute strategy session with me? I’ll be drawing one winner at random each month, and all you have to do is give me your feedback on this podcast over at http://rickmulready.com/messenger, telling me what you’d like to hear more of - including topics you’d like to see covered, guests, style and frequency of the show! On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How Craig started internet marketing – including how he would send 3,000 emails out manually using Hotmail The way he’s able to put out so much content consistently and how his marketing has evolved and shifted The amazing story of how Craig bought Early to Rise… Why Instagram is strictly a business platform him and how he uses it much like email marketing The Instagram framework and strategies that have allowed him to sell $500,000 in packages with a following of 13,000 people there How he uses testimonials from customers, the importance of a strong CTA and so much more!

After having a conversation with my guest, Craig Ballantyne, it’s hard to believe that he once struggled with crippling anxiety despite living “the life.” It’s what he likes to call the “paradox of freedom.” He had the freedom, but was still trapped when it came to having panic attacks. Sometimes his attacks came out of nowhere and other times they were predictable (drinking excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol). He knew it was time to do something about them, however, when he had an anxiety attack for nearly six weeks straight. Having since gotten a handle around his anxiety, Craig now enjoys sharing his story to help others work through theirs. And because we talk a lot about gratitude in this podcast, I love that one of his biggest tips is practicing gratitude and helping others daily. Craig’s transparency in this interview is invaluable and I hope that if you or someone you know suffer from anxiety that you discover some helpful tools to help you control them moving forward. -- Question Highlights: What was your upbringing like and how did it lead to your success and the epic knowledge you have today? What did you do to overcome your anxiety/panic attacks? Have you seen a trend among your clients of anxiety holding them back? How have you done well in both personal training and business? What is The Perfect Day Formula? Do you find that you have clients who sacrifice happiness at home for a thriving business? What would be better to start with – your book or The Perfect Day Kit? What role has generosity played in your success? What is one of your all-time favorite moments of giving? And more… In This Episode You Will Learn: How Craig overcame is struggle with anxiety and panic attacks Why anxiety is like a black box How gratitude, generosity and helping others has aided Craig in coping with anxiety Why we shouldn’t suffer in silence The importance of having good mentors Why you must figure out what moves you ahead toward your legacy in life – professionally and personally How the Three Cs help you establish rules for your life How your values drive anything you do Why it’s essential to prioritize your values And so much more… Craig’s Thoughts… “Everything is a learnable skill.” “At the root of anxiety is self-doubt.” “Admitting a weakness is a strength.” “It wasn’t the law of attraction; it was the law of action attraction.” “You can attract great opportunity into life when you do the work.” “Control what you can. Cope with what you can’t. Concentrate on what counts.” “When your actions are misaligned with your goals it causes internal stress in us.” “If you want to do great things, you have to do fewer things.” -- Author, trainer and coach, Craig Ballantyne is a Productivity & Success Transformation Coach from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the author of The Perfect Day Formula: How to Own the Day and Control Your Life — and his brand-new book, The Great Cardio Myth, debunks all the untruths you've been told about cardio being a silver bullet for weight loss and heart health. Craig has been a contributor to Men's Health magazine since 2000, and his articles have also appeared in Women’s Health, Oxygen, GQ, Maxim, National Geographic, Men’s Fitness and Muscle and Fitness Hers, amongst many others. His articles have also been featured on Inc.com, LifeHacker.com, and Telegraph.co.uk. In 2001, he created the popular home workout program, Turbulence Training, and in 2013 he created the Home Workout Revolution bodyweight exercise program. Over 100,000 men and women have used his 6 Minutes to Skinny weight loss system since 2014. Craig is also the founder of the Certified Turbulence Training Program, certifying trainers from all corners of the globe. He holds an annual Turbulence Training Summit for fitness experts to become better trainers and get more clients so they make more money and live the Perfect Life. Craig Ramsay is here to show us that we no longer have to stress out over an intense workout regimen, and that building our physical and emotional fitness can be a fun and enjoyable process. JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP | REVIEW THIS PODCAST It's no secret that exercise can be overwhelming when we go into it with the all-or-nothing mentality. This approach can lead to health activities that don't resonate with us emotionally and cause us to quit when we don't attain certain fitness goals. We can avoid this situation by finding fun and healthy ways to improve our fitness no matter where we are, and by building more excitement and laughter into the process. When we engage in workouts that really light us up inside and let go of the stress that comes with always having to be perfect, we are going to thrive emotionally, become healthier, and transform our physique. The Importance of Posture Most people are unaware of their poor posture and movement habits, and this can have a greater impact on our health than we realize. We don't have to seek out a yoga or pilates class to improve our posture and ability to stretch. We can start to increase our awareness for how we move and better our bodies' alignment by using certain techniques right away. Craig recommends that we picture holding a washcloth in the back part of our armpit. Simply doing this is going to help us elevate the chest, push the shoulders back and down, and allow us to breathe better and fuel our bodies with more oxygen. This improvement in our posture will help us move throughout our day with intention, intensity, and purpose. Stretch: A Reason To Wine When Craig trained the women from the hit TV show on Bravo, "The Real Housewives," they allowed him to change their workouts and also their eating plans, but had 1 very serious stipulation: He was not allowed to take away their wine! Since Craig was a trained contortionist, ballet dancer, and stretching expert, he had no problem coming up with a fun way to incorporate the ladies' love for wine and his love for stretching and moving the body. Craig knew about the scientific research showing that minimal amounts of wine can have benefits to our health and also chemically improve our ability to stretch. That is when his new exercise class was born: Stretch - A Reason To Wine! His class includes a 5 wine tasting flight, which he pairs together with a stretch that matches the taste and experience of each wine. He finds his participants feeling great, becoming more comfortable in a social fitness environment, and having a wonderful time in the process. Click Here To Learn More About Craig's Class "Stretch: A Reason To Wine" Listen to WFF o10 As Craig Uncovers: His origin story and background that kept him heavily involved in a fit & active environment His experiences on Reality TV that showed him the true power of being vulnerable Why he feels the bodybuilding industry has done an injustice to our views on health and wellness He shows us how we can have a life, live a life, and look incredible all the while How he was able to help his mom cope with her Fibromyalgia Why enjoyable exercise will impact our overall health and wellness How we can get through emotional blocks and start building our fitness The importance of having fun and laughing during exercise Why letting go of our emotional weight will help us let go of physical weight How Craig finds balance in his busy lifestyle How we can use technology to uplevel the human experience Why the all-or-nothing approach can be damaging to our health and wellness About Craig Ramsay Craig Ramsay is an internationally recognized fitness expert, exercise programmer and author known for his unique, effective, and entertaining fitness methods. In this episode we have discuss: How keto has been around in classic bodybuilding for decades longer than most realize How Craig and Tara use ketogenic diets and biohacking to forge superheroes Why a well-formulated keto diet can great for many different sports Why athletes in high impact (concussive) sports could benefit from keto How strength training should be a focus on form over weight Why "glycolitic" sport athletes can still utilize ketogenic diets via supplementation How "biohacking" has evolved and how you need to be wary of the misinformation out there Why most noortropics are useless and are basically driven by caffeine. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Craig Keener about his and Médine's book Impossible Love: The True Story of an African Civil War, Miracles and Hope against All Odds (Chosen Books, 2016). Here's what you'll learn in this interview: Craig's journey from atheism to faith. (00:40-02:14) How Craig and Médine first met during graduate school. (02:15-03:36) Craig and Médine continued their friendship as pen pals, while oceans separated them. (03:37-05:38) God redeemed the time while Craig was single, allowing him to throw himself wholly into his biblical studies and writing. (05:39-7:04) Craig and Médine entered a blackout period where they were unable to communicate with each other after the war broke out. (7:05-9:01) The wrestling Craig did with God while he was unable to reach Médine and the promises that sustained him through this portion of their journey. (9:02-10:59) Craig shares some of the prophetic words he and Médine received, specifically words about Médine's lost passport and that Médine would some day marry a white man with a large ministry. (11:00-15:11) Craig shares about Médine's sister, who was miraculously healed after being bitten by a snake when she was two years old. (15:12-16:50) Craig and Médine were ahead of the digital revolution and got engaged via e-mail. (16:41-20:17) The things Craig most hopes readers take away from his and Médine's story. (20:18-21:56) Craig talks about how this deeply personal, autobiographical writing experience differed from his academic writing. (21:57-24:25) Find out where you can go on the web to get your very own copy of Impossible Love. (24:26-24:57) About the book: A Gripping, True-Life Love Story! Shy, scholarly Craig Keener first met Médine, a beautiful Ph.D. student from central Africa, through a campus ministry at Duke University. The two became close friends, but it wasn't until Médine returned home that Craig--coming to terms with his own wounded heart--realized his love for her. But civil war had broken out in Congo. Médine faced terror, disease and devastating hardship--and Craig didn't know if she was alive or dead. Separated by continents, cultures and the ravages of war, Craig and Médine never stopped believing that faith, hope and love can surmount even the most overwhelming obstacles. Part romance, part thrilling adventure, their story is an unforgettable, miracle-filled journey of impossible love. You will be amazed by the God whose own great love for each of us will always overcome. About Craig Keener: Craig is professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary and holds a doctoral degree in New Testament Studies and the Origins of Christianity from Duke University. He is the author of several commentaries on books of the New Testament. I first met today's podcast guest when he sent me a bottle of strange pills in the mail. Normally, I would toss such a bottle into my pantry or garage with all the other random powders, oils, capsules, pills, lotions and creams that often show up at my house... ...but this bottle intrigued me. Along with echinacea and beet root extract, the bottle contained a bunch of other stuff I'd never heard of. Stuff like "Aphanizomenon Flos-Aquae". "Defatted, Vegan, Grass Fed Argentinian Liver Anhydrate". A version of Cordyceps with the name "Sinesis". So I called the guy who sent it to me and asked him what it was for. It turns out that he, and this bottle, are far from normal. His name is Craig Dinkel, and on today's podcast, you'll discover: -How Craig went from almost drowning in the pool to being one of the fastest swimmers in the world... [8:30] -How Craig cut 7 seconds off his 100-meter time while swimming in highschool...[14:40] -Why Craig took bee pollen and royal jelly while training for the Olympic swim team...[22:20] -The fitness strategies Craig used to train the celebrity musicians he worked with...[25:45] -The training Craig used to switch from swim performance to mountaineering...[49:00] -How echinacea can increase red blood cell count just as much as the illegal performance-enhancing drug EPO...[69:26] -The fascinating new research on the ability of beet extract to turn white storage fat into calorie-burning brown fat...[68:30] -How high amounts of desiccated liver increased time-to-exhaustion in the lab by over 750%...[71:42] -The rare fungal extract from larvae that can cause your body to produce ATP, even in the absence of calories...[67:00] -And much more! Entrepreneurs commonly face struggles like generating a steady stream of leads and prospects, generating these leads at a reasonable cost and maximizing the overall value of your customers or clients. What is the best route to improving all these aspects of your business and what tools will you need? This week’s guest is the King of Copy, Craig Garber and he has plenty to share about business, content, enlightenment and health. Three Takeaways Continuous relationships are facilitated through the frequency or intensity of communication. There’s a big difference between providing service and being a servant. A lot of success isn’t about knowing the answers, it’s about knowing the right questions to ask. On this week’s show we discussed how entrepreneurs can solve lead generation struggles with valuable copy and written content. Craig Garber who has worked in over 100 industries provides key insights and best practices. Craig shared the importance of content that attracts people so that you don’t have to chase them, the type of relationship you build in attracting is different from the kind of work you would have to do to chase leads and clients. In the case of the former you will have more control and a more respectful dynamic with clients. Craig also detailed his professional journey and answered a question about the tools that helped him grow his business and what entrepreneurs can learn. Strategy is important, and so is the maturity of not putting your problems on your clients’ shoulders. “Focus on what you can bring to them and not what they can bring to you.” It’s also necessary to be engaging through your content to make sure there’s a two-way communication taking place between you and the client. I went onto ask Craig what he thinks is important when an entrepreneur is trying to build continuous relationships to which he said, “You want to interact frequently and have something worthy to say.” I also went onto ask him about how the average entrepreneur can stand out in the crowd and keep their database informed. He stressed the importance of sincerity, authenticity, and writing the way you speak. The best writers online nowadays know how to make the content accessible and package the content in bitesized paragraphs to make it an easier read. Towards the end of the show we talked about; How Craig separates work from life and maintains a healthy balance The difference between providing a service and being a servant to clients Positioning yourself as an authority from day one of a relationship with a client Health, exercise and body recomposition. The benefits of TRT The biggest influences on his life Your marketing will only ever be as good as the copy created for it, so it’s necessary to make it an investment. The rules of writing good copy are simple; be sincere and authentic. Don’t aim to sell all the time. People are starved of authenticity nowadays so if you can provide it in an interested and engaging way, you will get ahead. Guest Bio Craig is a copywriter, direct response marketing consultant, Real Estate Investor and the Author of "How To Make Maximum Money With Minimum Customers.” He shows entrepreneurs how to attract a reliable, steady stream of pre-qualified leads and helps increase net profits and cash-flow by increasing customer, client, or patient value. What if I told you that there are 3 main areas that you could improve that would make your life a masterpiece? You might say that I’m crazy, but you would be wrong. Craig Ballantyne has discovered 3 specific areas that every person can address that will make them better in every area. It’s true. The 3 words that define those areas are Control, Conquer, and Concentrate - and on this episode of Growth to Freedom Craig Ballantyne is going to unpack them for you. As he does, look carefully at your own life - and be honest. Which of the rules that Craig shares is most difficult for you to swallow? Maybe that’s the area you need to target first. This episode is not meant to give you more content, it’s meant to help you make real change in your life. Take some time, listen, and take action with what you learn. What keeps you from taking action on your number one priority in life? Craig Ballantyne says that nothing has to keep you from accomplishing the most important things in your life. You can make it happen one small step at a time. The way he suggests you do it is by getting up 15 minutes earlier each morning so you can work on that one thing. Think about it. The house is quiet. Nobody to bother you. Your attention can be focused on that one thing. And when you do that morning after morning, week after week, you begin to make progress. It’s a sure fire way to accomplish the most important thing in your life. And it’s simple. That’s just one strategy for making your life a masterpiece that Craig Ballantyne shares on this episode of Growth to Freedom. Be sure you listen, but more importantly, be sure you take action on what you learn. You don’t need more content, you need more application. On this week's podcast, Productivity & Success Transformation Coach Craig Ballantyne, stops by the show to talk about how to beat anxiety to create your perfect day. Craig is a fitness expert and the author of the groundbreaking fat loss workout systems, Turbulence Training, and Home Workout Revolution. He has been a contributing author to Men's Health magazine since 2000 and has been the editor of the personal development newsletter, Early to Rise, since 2011. Understanding Your Own Anxiety Suffering from anxiety shouldn’t make you feel like a black sheep. In fact, many people that you know may suffer from some form of anxiety because 40 million Americans (18% of population) that are over the age of 18 face it each day. Some of these anxiety disorders include panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, or major depressive disorder. To beat your anxiety, you can change your mindset today. On this planet, every minute counts and in order to get the most out of each day of our lives, we have to get in the right mindset to take it head on as best as we can by changing our habits. Just like a fitness transformation, we need to make specific changes in order to see a mindset transformation. A new mindset transformation won’t only help us beat anxiety, but it will also help us become more goal driven and productive as well. In order to complete this mindset transformation, we can follow what Craig calls The Perfect Day Formula. How to Follow the Perfect Day Formula According to Craig, in order to begin following the Perfect Day Formula, we need to do The 3 C’s each day: Control the morning Conquer the afternoon Concentrate on what really matters The First C: You have the greatest control of your day during the morning hours. Before you leave the house, your morning is your time to focus on how you can get ahead in the day. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes before everyone wakes up, you control everything that you do. Start your day on a positive note to help you feel energized and focused with less stress by reading the newspaper, drinking some coffee, or watching the sunrise. Do anything that will help you clear your mind. The Second C: Conquer your afternoon with the 5 Pillars of Personal Transformation. Life is extremely unpredictable and anything can happen at the drop of a hat to throw us off course from our perfect day. Fortunately, with the 5 Pillars of Personal Transformation, we can better prepare ourselves for any emergencies, negative thoughts, or feelings of anxiety that may come our way. The 5 Pillars of Personal Transformation Plan and Prepare for any obstacles or emergencies that come into your life. Professional Accountability: Look to someone to hold you accountable for your actions and bring out the best in you. Positive Social Support: Who are your cheerleaders? These are the people that are always there for you and will help push you to do better. Meaningful Incentive: Have a big enough reason for why you’re doing what you’re doing i.e. for your children or your health. The Big Deadline: Set a deadline for the big and small goals during the day. "A goal without a deadline is just a dream." - Craig Ballantyne The Third C: Concentrate on what really matters by creating a vision for yourself In order to truly focus on your dreams, you need to create a vision for your life. This will help you understand where you want to go, how you want to get there, and help you make the right decisions overall. For the majority of us, that means creating structure in your life, but a lot of us don’t like structure. So what can we do? If you know exactly where you want to go, you can get there without any distractions when you follow your own rules. Instead of seeing structure as something that is holding you back from having the freedom to make your own decisions, structure can be extremely liberating. How you may ask? Well, isn’t following your own rules a lot easier and less stressful than following someone else’s orders? Why Your Perfect Day Starts With The Goodnight Formula The 3 C’s begin with taking control of your mornings, but the real magic begins that night before with Craig’s 10-3-2-1-0 Goodnight Formula. Your Perfect Day already begins 10 hours before you go to bed when you should be refraining from drinking any type of caffeine. Some people may be able to drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages at night, but for the majority of us, it can really affect our sleep cycle. As the day continues on, at 3 hours beforehand, you should not eat any heavy meals or drink alcohol. If you go to bed with alcohol in your system, you will most likely wake up feeling even more tired than you did the night before. To help you begin to relax more and not be stressed before you sleep, you should stop doing any type of work activity 2 hours before bed. At 1 hour left to go, it’s time to put away the electronics, turn off the TV, and avoiding looking at your phone’s screen. Whether or not you had a great night’s rest, zero is the number of times that you should hit the snooze button in the morning. If you allow yourself to fall back into a sleep cycle, it will be even more difficult for you to get up and enjoy your 15 free minutes to take control of your perfect day. How To Know If It’s Time For You To Change Your Environment & Relationships Whether they realize it or not, our friends, family members, and coworkers can sabotage our formula for a perfect day. When we’re trying to create the perfect day for ourselves by following the 3 C’s, the Five Pillars, and the Goodnight Formula, we can face different challenges. To get through them, we need to have the best support system that we can possible have from the people in our lives. These are that people that are there for you no matter what with their love, support, and kindness. Unfortunately, they can also sabotage us sometimes. To move forward and grow, we may have to change our environments. It may not be forever, but if you have a goal in mind, you may have to change your schedule and your activities to reach your goal. You don’t have to leave people behind, but this may also mean that you have to change the environment you’re in if you truly want to see yourself improve each day. If you’re in a toxic relationship that does not allow you to grow in anyway at all, you might have to give the gift of goodbye. That way, you can create space to allow new people into your life who will support your goals and hold you accountable for them. What Not To Do During Your Perfect Day When we face anxiety, we may follow negative habits that are holding us back from having a perfect day. Craig gave us so much great advice on what we should be doing to beat anxiety and create a perfect day, but he also has a Do Not Do List of what we should not be doing: Do not hit the snooze button. Do not check your email first thing in the morning. Do not answer all phone calls. Do not mindlessly surf the Internet. Do not waste time arguing or gossiping. Do not consume food or drink that makes you tired. These are some good tips to help you create a perfect day, but what about your own unique list? How can you be less distracted and more productive during the day? Take some time to write down what you’re doing each day and discover when you’re distracted and when you’re productive during the day. That way, you can create your own Do Not Do List and focus on the most important tasks you need to complete during your productive time. Our guest for this week’s show is the nation’s leading Direct Mail Expert, Craig Simpson. Being that marketing is a core element for any real estate investor who is looking to build and maintain a deal pipeline, direct mail is by far one of the best marketing methods around, that if executed correctly, can help you do more deals and beat out your competition. And today Craig and I discuss how to get started in successfully integrating direct mail into your business NOW! In this show with Craig you’re going to learn: How Craig got started in the direct mail business and quickly became known as the leading expert within the industry. How to properly tailor your copy or sales message so that it properly resonates with the person receiving it. Why it’s critical that you track and test all of your direct mail efforts…even if you’re receiving what you feel is a strong response rate. The importance of having a clean list and why this simple step can save you thousands over time. Why a sales letter without a call to action is like a ship without a rudder which means you really need to have a strong call to action in every mail piece you send. When using teaser copy on the exterior of a direct mailer makes sense. Why you are leaving money on the table if you’re not sending at least 3 follow up mailers to the same list. How to get discounts on the cost of postage which can lower your postage per piece from $0.49 per stamp to as low as $0.26 per piece. Why the quality of your mailing list is everything and why I’d rather have a high quality 250 person list vs. a 25,000 person list. The importance of sending a follow up thank you letter or gift to prospects that you weren’t able to complete a deal and how this one simple act could easily turn a dead lead into a deal. Craig Dalton grew award-winning iPad case manufacturer DODOcase well past 7 figures very quickly by timing product launches with major events, and he teaches you how you can do the same. Good morning folks! Within the Trenches is back for episode 26! I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with Roger of Cullman County 9-1-1 out of Alabama and Craig who is retired out of Guilford Metro 9-1-1 in North Carolina. This episode is a must listen as both Roger and Craig go through their history with 9-1-1 and how it pulled them in. Craig had emergency services in his blood, so to speak, since his father and uncle’s helped form several volunteer fire departments. Roger on the other hand was first part of the defense industry. Once he retired from there he moved into emergency services and became a 9-1-1 director after long admiring the profession. This episode is a must listen. The history and look back at how 9-1-1 was before more recent technology is very interesting. As always you can email the show at thejcast@thejabberlog.com for comments, concerns suggestions or if you would like to be on the show.
