Who Deserves Credit For This Gaza Peace Deal? The World Of Foreign Influence (with Kenneth Vogel)

A conversation with friend of the show Will Harris got my wheels turning. He pointed out something he was seeing in the UK press — Trump getting credit for what many are calling Biden's Gaza peace deal. And yeah, I had missed that particular discourse, but it didn't take long to see that the split wasn't just overseas. It's right here too. Some are arguing that the framework for this agreement was already in place under Biden, but now it's Trump stepping in and sealing the deal. That's not an unusual pattern in politics — one team builds, another finishes — but the way the Biden side is reacting is worth exploring.Let's be honest: getting a Middle East peace deal done is about the hardest thing you can try to accomplish in diplomacy. Saying you have a plan is one thing — implementing it in a region with as much distrust and complexity as the Middle East is a whole different story. It's like drafting a diet and fitness routine and assuming the results will match the spreadsheet. Biden's people floated frameworks, sure, but they couldn't make the deal happen. I suspect that's because they thought it would require applying pressure on Israel to end the war — and they didn't want to be seen doing that. They wanted the outcome without owning the action.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Then there's the idea that Biden deserved the credit even if Trump got the win. And this is where I find it all a little rich. Because I remember 2020. The Trump administration rolled out Operation Warp Speed — arguably one of the biggest policy successes of his term — and when Biden took over, they went out of their way to discredit everything Trump did. The narrative was that Biden had to rebuild the whole vaccination effort from scratch, even when it would've been politically smart to share credit or even use it to jab Trump from the left on vaccines as that issue started to shift. Now the roles are reversed. The Biden team worked on the peace framework and now wants credit — even though the Trump administration finished the job. It's not that I think they deserve nothing. There's a case to be made that this deal, if it holds, spans both administrations. That the effort to find a resolution to an ugly, years-long war included meaningful contributions from both. But if you live by the sword of discrediting your predecessor at every turn, don't be shocked when you die by it too.I don't think we're about to see the Trump team break out the thank-you cards — and if a Nobel Peace Prize comes out of this, it's going to have Trump's name on it. Still, if they were smart, they'd acknowledge — maybe off the record — that having a working framework didn't hurt. But the real lesson here is that a plan is just that — a plan. The deal is what matters. And once again, it turns out being the closer counts more than drawing up the play.Chapters00:00 - Intro03:13 - Gaza Peace Deal11:47 - Update12:04 - NYC Polling13:58 - Letitia James18:18 - Texas21:14 - Interview with Kenneth Vogel54:28- Wrap-up This is a public episode. Many of us have left behind the religion we inherited. But what, then, are we reaching for? In this conversation, Celtic teacher John Philip Newell reflects on what he calls the Great Search—a deep yearning for soul, earth, and home at a time of ecological breakdown and religious collapse. John Philip explores the tension between temple and wilderness, soul and ego, doctrine and direct experience, and reflects on the relinquishment of his ordination, the sacredness of the Earth, and the wisdom found in mystics across traditions. With poetic depth and prophetic insight, John Philip shares why returning to the light within ourselves, one another, and the Earth might be the beginning of something truly new. After the conversation, Nomad hosts Tim Nash and Nick Thorley reflect on what it means to live with two wings of awareness — beauty and suffering — and how spiritual friendship, embodied practices, and a relationship with the Earth might help us navigate a time of profound unraveling. This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, things get a little fishy…literally. Courtney, Whitney, and Momma Ashley dish on everything from a dangerously delicious tuna sandwiches, to Momma's canned meat creations and Fall inspired recipes. The episode kicks off with Whitney's concern that Courtney is one panini away from mercury poisoning due to her obsession with the tuna mousse sandwich at her “office” Joe & the Juice. Meanwhile, Momma's been busy catering a top-secret wedding (that isn't so secret anymore) after telling everyone about the menu at her monthly book club. Even more shocking is the lunch she served at book club, a retro “meat mousse” made with deviled ham that has the girls gagging.  They round out the episode with their latest fall favorites. Whitney declares her Lemony, Parmy White Beans a total panty dropper, while Courtney shows off her pumpkin pie topped with Momma's famous praline — which she's now putting on just about anything that stands still.  They also give a sneak peek at next week's boozy brewery episode with the Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. And just when you think it's over, Courtney gets a surprise visit that scares her worse than Whitney's Halloween decorations. GDP Script/ Top Stories for October 9th Publish Date: October 9th PRE-ROLL: From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Thursday, October 9th and Happy birthday to John Lennon I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. Lilburn Daze festival celebrates 53 years of community and creativity Gwinnett spending nearly $1 million for three new ambulances O’Dwyer Homes Breaks Ground on 'Build for CURE' home in Lawrenceville Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on budgeting All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: Ingles Markets 10 STORY 1: Lilburn Daze festival celebrates 53 years of community and creativity Lilburn Daze—man, it’s come a long way. Picture this: back in the '70s, it was just a scrappy little thing in a shopping center parking lot. Now? It’s the fall festival in Gwinnett County. This Saturday, from 9 to 5, City Park on Main Street will be buzzing. Arts and crafts, food trucks, kids bouncing around (literally), live music, and even a health tent. Oh, and the Doggy Dazzle Paw-rade at 11 a.m.? Adorable chaos. Susan Allred, festival chair, says they’re expecting 5,000–10,000 folks. “It’s our biggest fundraiser,” she adds. Proceeds? They fuel community programs. So, grab a shuttle, bring your dog, and soak it all in. STORY 2: Gwinnett spending nearly $1 million for three new ambulances Gwinnett’s getting three shiny new ambulances—finally. On Tuesday, county commissioners approved a $932,383 deal with Life Line Emergency Vehicles, and if all goes to plan, they’ll arrive in December. One ambulance will roll in on a RAM 5500 chassis, while the other two will use Chevy 5500 chassis the county bought during the pandemic. (Remember those supply chain nightmares?) Turns out, they’ve just been sitting there, unused. Funded by the 2017 SPLOST, these ambulances are all-new, top to bottom. STORY 3: O’Dwyer Homes Breaks Ground on 'Build for CURE' home in Lawrenceville O’Dwyer Homes just broke ground on something truly special—a “Build for CURE” home, where every penny from the sale will go to CURE Childhood Cancer. The ceremony happened Sept. 17 at 1108 Duluth Highway in Lawrenceville, and honestly, it’s more than just a house. It’s hope. “This is personal,” says Kathy O’Dwyer. Years ago, she watched Sean Dever, her son’s best friend’s little brother, fight osteosarcoma. And Brandon, the builder? His son John battled leukemia at nine. Both families leaned on CURE during their darkest days. Now, John’s thriving, Sean’s thriving—and this home? It’s for the next family who needs a lifeline. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: 07.14.22 KIA MOG STORY 4: Making waves: North Georgia students dive into water industry at leadership summit On a crisp September morning, over 160 high schoolers from across North Georgia showed up at The Water Tower in Buford, probably not expecting to leave thinking, Huh, maybe water’s my thing. But that’s exactly what happened. The Student Water Innovation and Leadership Summit (Sept. 26) wasn’t your typical career day. Students from schools like Mill Creek, Shiloh, and Discovery got hands-on—peering into microscopes, testing filtration systems, even diving into virtual reality. They learned water isn’t just faucets and pipes; it’s labs, engineering, crisis management, and, yes, running treatment plants. With a looming workforce gap (a third retiring soon!), programs like this are game-changers. STORY 5: Gwinnett installing sidewalks near Dyer Elementary Kids walking to Dyer Elementary in Dacula? It’s about to get a whole lot safer—and easier. Gwinnett County just approved a $1.3 million contract with Ohmshiv Construction to build new sidewalks near the school. The plan? Sidewalks will stretch along Hurricane Shoals Road (north side) from the school to Retreat Drive, and on Rabbit Hill Circle (west side) from Hurricane Shoals to Hood Road. The project, funded by the 2023 SPLOST, kicks off soon and should wrap up in 100 working days. Finally, some peace of mind for parents. We’ll be right back. Break 3: LILBURN DAZE And now here is Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on budgeting Break 4: We’ll have closing comments after this Break 5: CITY OF SUGAR HILL Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast.

“We don't view a person with chronic pain as someone who has a chronic illness and the effect of that is we can't follow patients continuously over prolonged periods of time,” says Dr. Jacob Hascalovici, a neurologist and pain specialist based in New York City.  In co-founding Bliss Health, Dr. Jacob, as he is known, has set out to create a continuous care model for chronic pain treatment that matches the approach taken for patients with diabetes or high blood pressure. The Bliss Health formula includes an initial meeting with a physician that produces a care plan; remote therapeutic monitoring on an ongoing basis; and a monthly meeting with a nurse to review data and determine next steps, including additional appointments with physicians as needed.  All of this occurs via a digital platform which provides a welcome option for patients with mobility issues and can fill gaps in access to specialists, especially in rural areas. Dr. Jacob is also hoping to make chronic pain patents feel respected, which is not always the case in their encounters with the healthcare system. “Because pain is not something that can be seen or measured, oftentimes patients feel marginalized, dismissed and disempowered by providers.” Join Raise the Line host Lindsey Smith for a valuable conversation that also touches on policy changes that could strengthen telemedicine, and has details on the first non-opioid based pain medication to receive FDA approval in over 20 years.Mentioned in this episode:Bliss Health If you like this podcast, please share it on your social channels. Why are evangelical churches so bad at teaching the Bible and theology? Kaitlyn talks with A.J. From street mobs to online echo chambers, he exposes how propaganda has gone on steroids in the age of social media, and how truth itself is being weaponized.O'Reilly doesn't hold back — he calls out Democratic leaders like Gavin Newsom and J.B. He warns of the radical left's march toward socialism, embodied by figures like Zohran Mamdani, and makes the case that unchecked ideology always ends the same way — with chaos and control. This isn't nostalgia or fear-mongering — it's a reality check from one of America's most seasoned truth-tellers, connecting the dots between history's monsters and today's moral drift. If you care about freedom, accountability, and the fight for America's soul — don't miss this one.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The world will have to listen to AfricaWaihiga Mwaura speaks to Botswana's President Duma Boko about his plans to reinvigorate the economy, taking greater control of the country's diamond reserves, but also diversifying its mining and other sectors. Currently facing hefty tariffs from the US, he claims to be close to securing a tariff-free deal for Botswana's diamonds at least. But President Boko also has a vision of a reinvigorated Africa, a continent that works together to become a formidable economic force, where its own people reap the benefits of its rich resources. Africa, he says, is rising. Duma Boko, a human rights lawyer who was educated at Harvard, helped to create the party he leads, the Umbrella for Democratic Change. His victory in the 2024 presidential election, at his third attempt, finally ousted the Botswana Democratic Party from power after almost 60 years. Welcome to a special author's episode of The Data Chief, where we delve into the minds of three influential authors who are shaping the conversation around data and AI. First, Geoff Woods, author of The AI-Driven Leader, shares his philosophy of prioritizing strategy over technology to make faster, smarter decisions. Next, Wendy Batchelder, author of The Data Governance Handbook, discusses how to transform governance from a rigid bureaucracy into a business accelerator by focusing on business outcomes. Finally, Malcolm Hawker, author of The Data Hero Playbook, challenges data leaders to adopt a heroic mindset by becoming customer-driven and aligning their incentives with business success. Join us to learn how to lead effectively in the AI era by building a strategy-driven, governed, and customer-centric data function. The Data Chief Podcast: Author Episode Key MomentsGeoff Woods: The AI-Driven LeaderFrom "IT Problem" to Strategic Partner (06:20): Woods advocates for viewing AI as a "strategic thought partner" rather than an assistant or replacement, and emphasizes that AI strategy must align with business strategy. The CRIT Framework for Smarter Prompts (12:25): He introduces the CRIT framework for prompt engineering: Context, Role, Interview, Task. This method helps leaders get non-obvious, high-impact strategies from AI by having the AI ask the right questions.Beyond the Bottom Line: AI's Human Impact (22:17): Woods discusses the ROI of AI, including a case where AI identified savings equivalent to 2% of a company's revenue. Wendy Batchelder: The Data Governance HandbookData Governance as an Accelerator (32:33): Wendy Batchelder addresses the myth that data governance is a "dirty word" or a code for "no," arguing that its true purpose is to be an accelerator.Speaking the Language of Business (35:17): Batchelder emphasizes that data governance should be embedded from the start of a project, not as an afterthought. She provides an example of "bad" vs. "good" communication, urging data professionals to speak the language of the business.Measuring Value with Business Outcomes (40:00): She outlines how to measure the value of data governance by connecting it to business outcomes like increased revenue or improved customer service. Malcolm Hawker: The Data Hero PlaybookFrom Limiting Mindset to Growth Mindset (56:00): Hawker discusses why he wrote the book, calling the current moment a "do or die" opportunity for CDOs. He challenges the "limiting mindset" that leads to defeatism.Customer-Driven, Not Data-Driven (1:08:00): He urges data leaders to be "customer-driven, not data-driven," emphasizing the need for data teams to become more business literate. The Power of Product Management (1:14:00): Hawker advocates for bringing product management disciplines into data teams. This approach focuses on putting the customer at the center and ensures that data products are economically viable and tied to ROI.Key Quotes:"It is not technology first, strategy second. It is strategy first, technology second.” - Geoff Woods"The companies that are treating data as something that helps drive business outcomes are thinking about data at the beginning and set up at the end." - Wendy Batchelder“If you deliver value to your customers, if you are the lever of change and transformation in your organization, if you show value from data, you will get a seat at the table." - Malcolm HawkerMentionsThe AI-Driven Leader: Harnessing AI to Make Faster, SmarterHow AI is transforming strategy developmentData Governance Handbook: A practical approach to building trust in data5 key reasons why data analytics is important to businessThe Data Hero Playbook: Developing Your Data Leadership SuperpowersCDOs and CDAOs: Rethink your role or fade awayGuest Bios:About Geoff Woods Geoff Woods is the #1 bestselling author of The AI-Driven Leader, host of the AI-Driven Leader podcast, and Founder of AI Leadership and The AI-Driven Leadership Collective™, a highly vetted network of executives collaborating to harness AI to build better businesses and better lives.
