You spot a large crow sitting on a chestnut tree branch. Suddenly you go back ten, maybe twenty years. An endlessly long literature class. To kill time, you look at the dusty leaves of the ficus on the windowsill, the utterly expressionless face of Fyodor Dostoevsky in the portrait above the blackboard, the deeply carved letter "A" on the desk, the delicate gold-rimmed glasses of Yulia Alexandrovna, the frozen soap streaks on the laminate floor, the scuffed shoes of your classmate Sashka, the tube of a fluorescent lamp that burned out six months ago and still hasn't been replaced… and the large crow sitting on the branch of an old birch tree in the schoolyard. If Tomo's mix for 5/8: radio had existed back then, you would've gladly slipped on your headphones and drowned in it. But alas. So instead, you had no choice but to watch the crow

Und was will Israel? Sashka Hanna Rappl is a Leadership Coach, Business Strategist,  Award-winning Performer, an International Speaker, and a Podcaster She is also the author of Soul’d Out,Your Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose,The Meaning of your Dreams, and what they hold for your life and heart-centred business.  Sashka works with creative underdogs and helps them create and market a brand that is tailored to the entrepreneur rather than the profession. She is a self described visionary  with a gazillion ideas. After years of not seeing the trees for the woods, she dissected her life, dreams, and purpose to create the life she wanted with what she already had. Sashka doesn’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions and wants all of us to be the original person we were born to be. In this episode Sashka: Says that when it comes to naysayers it’s all about the people in her head Tells us that it doesn’t matter how much mindset work you’ve done if you don’t know who you are Reminds us that from early young age most of us were asked the same question, what do you want to be when you grow up. This conditions us to base our identify around our profession. Sashka states emphatically that profession not our identify. Tells us why sharing is not caring. Explains how she found her purpose and shares a process anyone can use to do the same. Says that our childhood dreams hold our innocence before it was tainted by societal expectations Talks about the struggles she’s faced and argues that we can’t dream when we’re in survival mode And so much more This was a high energy talk with an articulate and passionate brand expert. Figuring out your life's purpose can feel like a daunting endeavor. It's such a big question, and we often confuse purpose with career.  We can get lost in our thoughts when we try to answer the question, “Why am I here?” But if you're out of alignment with your purpose, it can throw your whole entrepreneurial “ecosystem” off. Your purpose is not something that will box you in or keep you small- it will make you feel expansive. I've always had an innate sense of my own purpose: to take my soul on a hell of a journey. I have a vision that I will be on my deathbed laughing at where I ended up. The more I accept and embody my purpose, the more it grows and attracts others. To dive deeper into finding your purpose, I've brought on author and “edutainer” Sashka Hanna-Rappl. Sashka is the creator of Soul Brand Marketing® and Brand Your Soul® where she awakens leaders to re-connect and fulfill their life purpose and leave their mark in the world. To find clarity about why you're here on this Earth, download this episode now. THE BADASS DRAGON WARRIOR   “Done is better than perfect.” - Sashka Hanna-Rappl Highlights - Life purpose has nothing to do with your profession.  Sashka's Soul Tribe are creative visionaries with an underdog mentality who are dormant leaders. Universal desires: freedom, to be desired, sense of achievement, and to support something that matters. The reason we feel disconnected is that an aspect of our life is out of alignment.  If you know where you're going to land, it's not a Quantum Leap. When you're swinging from vine to vine, you have to let go. A worksheet for achieving what you want: In the first column, list the things you want to become. In the second column, write the things that are keeping you from that. In the third column, write your limiting beliefs. Clarity often happens when you talk it out. I’m sure you’ve all had these moments in life thinking, “what am I living for?” “We get up, go to work, come home, just to start all over again. You think “those people smiling have got it all”. “How do they do it, is it something I can have?” As a kid you may have dreamed of something you want to be one day. It was then either ridiculed or supported. As an adult, you may ask yourself “what am I here for?” Have you ever wondered what it’s like knowing your life purpose? When you’re in a state of surviving, (the necessities of shelter, food, etc), the focus is then no longer on you, but on survival, and this will then deplete your energy. Thus, you will not be able to serve as purpose is big on serving. Serving others when your cup is empty, leads to depression, depletion, tiredness and sickness. In life, there will be highs and lows, but that’s all part of growing. I call it an adventure. POINTS OF INTEREST: Have you achieved what you’ve always dreamt of? Is there something still missing? How do you find that inner satisfaction of knowing you’ve achieved what you set out to do in life Get clarity of the process I have written a Book called Soul’d Out: A Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose. Within this book, there is a 50-page workbook where I ask the reader questions to get the answers within you, to assist you in knowing yourself and your core. Disclaimer: “When your soul is not ready to receive, you won’t be able to see, hear or read anything here, to give you your answers SASHKA SAID: “Finding your life purpose does not define your profession or your career, it’s not what you wanted to become or your ‘why’, but rather the core of who you are”. “You were not made in a day, you needed time”. “Whilst you were being created, growing up with good or bad influences, you consequently changed into who you are today”. “The most important person in your life – is you.” “Take care of yourself first or everything else will ‘swallow you up’.” “No-one cares about you, the way you can and should care about yourself.” “Finding your purpose, gives you clarity and direction in life.” BIOGRAPHY: Mother of three. Born in South Africa, now resides in Austria. At the age of 7 I had a lead role in the Ugly Duckling (I was the Ugly Duckling). I had to advertise myself, the cast and the show and loved it! At that young age I did not yet know about marketing and advertising, but, I guess the ‘bug’ bit me then. I went on to study Marketing and Advertising in South Africa then moved to London with the intention to study performance further, but nothing came of that. My boyfriend at that time suggested we go on holiday in the Tyrolean Alps in Austria. Which is where I met my husband. This is where I’ve been for the past 22 years. My love for Marketing and Advertising got me a job at a large Company in Austria where I worked for about 8 years. I left this company when I was expecting my first born. I’ve never been one to be a ‘stay-at-home mom’ and had strong feelings of starting my own business. After many years of trials, I’ve finally found my purpose which is a Branding/Marketing/Advertising & Sales Strategist – Author/Speaker and Thought Leader. Sashka created Soul Brand Marketing©. She comes from a corporate business side. But she soon realized she had a passion for art, but didn’t make a fruitful business of it. Jackie is not a ‘yes’ person, she will speak out. Jackie’s father is a painter and she does mural paintings as well. Although, she did not paint for 12 years until after her son was born, she painted a mural in his room and she just happened to put it on her personal Facebook profile, when people  were commenting on it – absolutely loving it! That’s when Jackie had an ‘A-ha’ moment and thought ‘hang on a moment, this is something I could do for a living’. Jackie says “I’m half artistic and half logical”. Jackie admits that she never had to really study hard to get A-grades. After realizing what she could do with her murals on Facebook, Jackie learned all about online marketing. Jackie was being asked a lot on how to advertise on Facebook. She says she gets her inspirations for her artwork from her clients and Pinterest. In today’s episode we talk about how we often see difficult situations as a loss, but upon deeper inspection, some of our greatest lessons are revealed after the figurative dust settles in our lives. With the proper tools for coping and learning, we can take any struggle, brush it off, and in it, find some of our greatest strengths. TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: Struggles are part of everyone’s life, but they can reveal our strengths. Conditioning unwittingly holds us back. Give yourself permission to speak out and say how you feel. No one is born with issues; identify when it began and tap into that feeling, then reframe it into something positive. We often absorb other’s stresses without realizing it; it’s not your stress to absorb. Teaching children how to deal with stress prepares them for adulthood. We already have what we need inside, but we must learn to really listen and connect within ourselves to find the answers. Life changes require us to reinvent ourselves. Reinventing ourselves is not a ‘crisis,’ it’s a beautiful process of self-discovery. FIONA CLARK SAID: “You have to look at the gift that you receive out of any challenge.” “The gift I had out of this experience has brought me to who I am today.” “When you’re thrown in the middle of the ocean . . . you have to learn how to swim [in] the right direction to really find out what you need.”  “We can’t change what has happened but we can reframe it.” “I like to think of [midlife] as a reinvention.” “When i work with clients, the most empowering thing is to inspire them to help themselves.  I love to give them their own ‘toolbox’. . .” “Don’t take their power away . . .  by telling them what to do.” HEAR MORE ABOUT FIONA CLARK: I have had one heck of a life so far and I can say I have truly lived up to this point. Despite the challenges I have no regrets as it has made the person I am today. I have been involved with personal development for many years triggered by a car accident 25 yrs ago where I had whiplash twice in that accident and then again in Jo’burg 3 months later when another car went into the back of me. That set me on a long and fascinating journey as I was recommended to see a Kinesiologist who ‘fixed’ my neck! I was so curious as to how so I studied it myself and the journey continued from there as I became obsessed by what was possible so trained I in Reflexology, Theta Healing, Solution Focused, EFT and obviously Coaching. Much of the training I completed while I was working for British Airways (for 17yrs) which was an education in itself. I was married to a South African. In 2003 my ex needed a change of scenery so we moved to HK for 3 1/2 yrs and then to the Philippines where I continued my personal development. Shortly after we got divorced although I remained in the Philippines for a further 7 yrs. Whilst in the Philippines I built up a business, made some incredible friends and had a very supportive network of people. I also trained as a telephone counsellor which was mostly for the local market. I left Lala land and returned with my 2 boys who are now 19 and almost 18 nearly 4 yrs ago.. During the last year I have been working on the midlife niche as I understand the pitfalls of what midlife can bring!  It is often spoken of as a time of gloom and doom or ‘crisis’ as we so often hear. However, I look at it as a time of reinvention and an exciting time to work out exactly who we are, which has often been lost in the ether somewhere along the line. So many of us reach this time of our life where we have spent many years looking after the needs of others and lose our identity and dreams in the process. I see this as a time to focus on ourselves and how we can connect to the wisdom within that may have got lost under the layers of conditioning! So often the questions I hear are ‘Is this it or What’s next? This is a time not to be wasted but valued as a new chapter in our book of life.. My boys are now on their way to being more independent which has left me time to focus on what I want which is so much. I see myself as a bit of a gypsy and long to do more travelling, meet more amazing people and sample every aspect of life that brings me joy and peace! Ooo forgot to say the other two important members of our family are Twizzle (cross shitsu/yorkie) and Roxie (jack russell) both took the long journey from the Philippines as I couldn’t leave them behind even though I did think about it! My passions are yoga and cycling and last saturday I did the ‘Ride the Night’ 104 km or 65 miles from Windsor to London and back starting at 10pm which was a challenge in itself! It was all in aid of Breast, cervical and ovarian cancer. Loved it and my legs were in turbo mode on the way home! Working on the next challenge maybe London - Paris. Cycling for me is like a moving meditation and I often compare the challenge of it to the challenge of life! FAVOURITE QUOTE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD Quotes are another tough one as hundreds I could mention! “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it within us or find it not!” Ralph Waldo Emerson.   In today’s episode we discover how to tap into your innate gift that is “creative genius,” and why it is essential to your well being.  Creativity flows freely through every human being, yet we unwittingly place blocks on this flow of genius in response to the sting of criticism or belittlement we may have experienced early in our life.  These blocks act as a “defense mechanism” against future criticism, but their unfortunate long-term impact hinders our ability to simply enjoying the freedom of expression and its therapeutic benefits.  TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: You were born a “creative genius.” Nurturing creativity is essential. Making a mess is actually less of a mess than we perceive. Work with your children to foster and encourage healing through creativity. Creativity is a coping mechanism; embrace it. Let go of the final construct and allow the creativity itself to be the goal. Creativity is a form of self care. Creativity is not just nice to have or a necessity; it is essential! Communicating and setting boundaries and standards in a relationship.   ALLISON REINER SAID: “Loving myself helped my husband love me” “It is a necessity to wear your heart on your sleeve and open up to the right people.” “Standing in your power and owning that” “If the relationship is working for you then it is as ‘perfect’ as can be” “We need to learn to live and love each other”   HEAR MORE ABOUT ALLISON REINER: I am Alli, Loved Again and Forever Coach, wife of one and mother of two who began a journey of self discovery in the hope of finding the strength to leave my husband and fell head over heels in love with him (and myself) in the process. I teach sensitive women how to re-ignite their love life and create a life they love by transforming the most important relationship of your life – the one you have with yourself. Whether you stay or whether you go the magic happens when you learn the art of deep self love and complete self acceptance and gain true knowledge of your self worth. If you are in that uncomfortable place where you think you should leave, but maybe it will work out, you can’t bear the thought of another 5 years like the last ones, but the idea of starting from scratch fills you with fear, then I help you get 100% clear on whether your marriage still has some life left in it. Together we create the self confidence, acceptance and love which you will need to re-ignite your love life and create the life you love.   FAVOURITE QUOTE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD Favourite saying ever ever, ever: “Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t - you are right” - Henry Ford   BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ I believe that in order to put in the work needed to transform your relationship with self you must believe in a power greater than you, whether that be God, the universe or simply magic – so I love the book E-squared by Pam Groot because it lets you experiment and get a feel for the magic of the universe. In today’s episode we talk about uncovering your truth to find your purpose, taking the leap to get the result, why stretching yourself out of your comfort zone can help you achieve your goals, mindset practices, gratitude and how you can take on what society says to create goals for yourself that you don’t really want. TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: The three steps to turning your dreams to reality. Why slow contribution towards a goal helps reach success. Conscious choices, working out what you want & honouring that. How having one intention can help you grow and give you courage. Limiting beliefs and not finish accomplishing your goal. “Losing weight”, mindset work and taking control. The importance of putting you and your needs first. The danger of postponing something in life. SUSIE RAMROOP SAID: “Why inflict so much fear? When you can gradually work towards achieving your goal” “You don’t need the whole way lit up, just the next 200 yards” “Control is what you put in place when you don’t trust yourself” “I will be happy when xyz, the key to be happy with what you have now” “People will benefit by facilitating them to the end point instead of giving answers”   HEAR MORE ABOUT SUSIE RAMROOP: At the age of 11 Miss Nunnery, my favourite teacher, packed me off to high school with the advice: “don’t give them all the answers”.  It took years for this to resonate with me – the notion that you can serve people, be they your employees, or your children, much more powerfully if you listen and ask the important questions.  The really big juicy ones that they may be hiding from, but once asked seem to provide relief.  The answers will come from inside them; they will own them, and they will decide if they are right for them.  This is true Coaching. As a leader, I am inspiring, motivating, and articulate.  I pride myself on bringing empowerment, clarity of purpose and enormous energy to ensure people realise results and enjoy the process.  This is also true of me being a Coach and a friend! I have a wealth of experience which has contributed to who I am and how I approach things having worked in the Media, and Directed teams in the private and public sectors, but it hasn’t defined me. Seniority was expected of me back then, so I rose to the mantle, but I was stuck on a hamster wheel.  I made what looked to others like bold and brave attempts to get off it by changing sector twice, and deciding to become single after a long time.  Even though I qualified as a Coach 11 years ago, and was clocking up coaching hours, I hadn’t realised that it was my true purpose in life.  The thing that would make me really want to get out of bed in the morning. I became so tired of acting like I enjoyed all of the things I was doing because really those things were part of attempting to gain approval, acceptance, and love.  I was hoping that other people would give me the answers rather than looking into myself to find them.  So I decided to practice on myself, and this is how I know that my brand of Coaching works. I have found my passion in life and am well on my own journey to personal mastery.  I love Coaching, whether I am receiving it or providing it!  I love the relief, the excitement, the penny dropping, the eager anticipation, the trepidation, the sudden realisation, the stillness, the decisiveness, the indignation, the strength, the vulnerability, the honesty, the commitment, the resistance, and so much more. It’s taught me that I am worthy of success by my own design, today, not at a time reaching into the distant future.  I am confident in my value, and not willing to defer the celebration of me anymore! The journey through the dark night of the soul. Showing up and sharing curiosity in a way that positions you as a leader. Your leadership and branding being a combination of your story, A combination of love and making sacrifices helps build your brand. And, what is it going to take to show up?” “Your marketing becomes your mindset practice.”   HEAR MORE ABOUT ISABELLE RIZO: I AM A SINGULARITY STORYTELLER Innovation consulting for successful soft-spoken women leaders and technologically conscious brands through Talent Acquisition, PR Consulting, and innovative leadership training. Business mentor for the next generation of successful female entrepreneurs that want to increase influence and income using both online and offline technologies. Romanian American mixed media artist and performance artist in online and offline spaces. Isabelle Rizo was born amidst post-communist Romania. A political refugee by birth she was born in Germany and eventually grew up in the USA. From a young age Isabelle was interested in making and crafting things with her hands, and when computers came around she was hooked. Growing side by side with technology, a tumultuous identity finding childhood, and a desire to find her place in the world - she ended up creating her own. Becoming an entrepreneur at the age of 16 - she began her freelance film production company doing commercial shoots, photography, and creative direction. A one-person show since the beginning Isabelle mastered editing, filming, cinematography, and film aesthetics culminating in her first documentary featuring the Student Loan crisis in the US. As soon as becoming a US citizen Isabelle delved in alternative education, and began creating a curriculum for intercultural language learning in China. When coming back home the tech-space became normal. As an amateur scientist observing human behavior online and offline Isabelle noticed similarities between all humans. Our need for connection. Connection coming from integration with trauma. In online space where things were easily anonymous people would instantly connect - and she wanted to create that in offline space. From there Isabelle began integrating her online story with her offline reality by becoming a travel blogger, consultant, and strategist working remotely from various parts of Europe and North America. Skipping the traditional college route and becoming an advocate of life-long learning, Isabelle integrated her learning journey into her culminating mentoring and strategy programs. How we as a society must not fear technology but integrate with it as singularity storytellers. Creating a smaller more connected world. Through her multimedia art and curated experiences she intends conversation to be sparked, connections to be made, and deeper things to be moved. Journey of the Entrepreneur

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 29, 2017 45:31

Episode 12 : Purpose Driven Success   Sashka’s unique story began in South Africa, a highly creative and competitive country.  This environment helped Sashka hone in on her innate strengths and desires of becoming a big Hollywood actress.  She’s been in the performing arts industry for over two decades and has loved every minute of it.     Over time, Sashka found an intriguing parallel between successfully promoting her own acting career, and marketing.  Eventually she delved deep into the world of marketing and has created a signature system for branding and marketing .     She teaches that successful branding and marketing begin with finding your life purpose and comes from the inside out, rather than from the outside. Purpose driven success guides you to becoming the best version of yourself and to making the impossible, possible. The Power of Purpose:   Branding and marketing are more powerful when they stem from purpose and from being service-oriented. Purpose maximizes your value to followers and customers. Purpose creates laser-focus in you and strengthens your strategies.   Purpose keeps you on track. Purpose prevents both stumbling blocks and “shiny objects” from swaying you off course. Purpose empowers you to rise above challenges more quickly.   Purpose separates you from the competition and helps you stand out. Purpose creates consistent and authentic messaging across personal and professional platforms.   Defining Your Purpose:   Consider your dreams--they provide an aim which you can work towards becoming.    You have the answers inside;  you just need to ask the right questions. Sample questions to ask yourself: Who are my favorite movie/animation characters?  Why? Which types of characters do I identify with?  Why? What is it that they spark inside of me? What are my core values? What is my inner-burning? What would I love to do to serve others whether I get paid or not? Who is it in the core I want to touch and reach?   More questions and guidance on finding your purpose can be found in Soul'd Out. Write down your thoughts and experiences and recognize the patterns in your life in order to connect with your overall purpose. Be patient. Give yourself time to dig deep and tap into your core values.   Purpose Before Profit   Remember that business and personal life are not two entities; they are one. Align everything in your business and in your life around your purpose. Build your brand, logo, messaging, etc., around your purpose for a more powerful influence on clients and followers. Correlate your purpose with your business, then help customers figure out their purpose and correlate that in an authentic way. People are attracted to your values so show them. Become the tools of the trade rather than just using them. Profit is for everyone-we all want to make money, but focusing on your purpose before the profit will help you find a better way to relate and empower your followers. Look at each person as a purpose instead of as a profit to create more value and build long-term relationships.   Final Thoughts From Sashka:   Get out of your head!   Put everything onto paper.   Thoughts become things. Putting it onto paper helps you manifest what you want and need. In today’s episode we talk about the formula of truth +  energy + action = magnificence, living your truth and uncovering the hard wiring of religion and society, escaping the corporate life and manifesting your dream life. TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: Living your own truth and manifesting the life of your dreams Realising your truth and releasing good energy Your truth and energy are connected - when imbalanced, life becomes difficult Who would you have been if you hadn’t had the influence from religion, society and ‘hard-wiring’. Releasing your story and identity to finally release your truth How to take action on the things you have learnt Discussing whether letting go has something to do with ‘age’ CORINNE WORSLEY SAID: “Your Truth +  Energy + Action = Magnificence” “When your truth and energy are imbalanced, life is difficult” “Who would you be if no one told you what to be?” “No matter what path we take, we know where we are going in life” “Just being able to BE instead of putting on a persona” HEAR MORE ABOUT CORINNE WORSLEY: After spending over a decade working in corporate and achieving more than she had ever expected, Corinne came to the realisation that it was not all it was cracked up to be. Life looked full on the outside but felt empty on the inside. Finding herself stressed out and unfulfilled she decided that there must be another way to live and here began her quest. Through working with a Life Coach to get back in touch with her purpose, Corinne decided that becoming a coach herself would enable her to create the freedom she wanted whilst also being able to contribute more to the world. She subsequently qualified as a life coach and eventually left her corporate career to pursue this work full time. She now gives other women permission to admit that settling for a mediocre life is not enough for them and supports them in finding and living from the truth of who they are. She firmly believes that our truth is not mediocre, it is magnificent. FAVOURITE QUOTE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD So tricky! There are so many that I love. Today I will go with an Anaïs Nin quote: "My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to find peace with who and what I am. To take pride in my thoughts, my appearance, my talents, my flaws and to stop this incessant worrying that I can't be loved as I am." BOOK YOU SHOULD READ One book I would recommend is a book that kick started my journey, called The Top Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware. It sounds really morbid but it woke me up to the fact that I am going to die and that to not live life fully is madness. In today’s episode we talk about integrating your dreams into your waking life, living true to yourself and your core values, how Gerdi took baby steps to fulfilling her purpose and the approach Gerdi takes when making an important life decision. TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: The approach to making a decision on the three key values Gerdi has in her life. Recognising the physical and/or emotional response when something isn’t right in your life. Finding answers in the mountains. The beauty and getting a different perspective on life in the mountains. How you can go back into yourself and appreciate nature in the quiet, peaceful parts of nature. Managing the fear of heights when you are a mountain guide. Facing your fears and taking steps towards your milestones. Pursuing and following your why. Living true to yourself and your core values. GERDI VERWOERT SAID: “Getting a different perspective on life by taking a different trail on the mountain.” “We fear the stories in our head much more than the actual fear.” “I am willing to witness and abandon my fears.” “We are put on this Earth to live our truth to our self.” “Nobody is helped by not following your ‘WHY’.” HEAR MORE ABOUT GERDI VERWOERT: I'm a former project manager, consultant and interim manager with 20+ years of experience in the Dutch corporate world. Halfway through my professional life at 40 I finally started paying attention to the feelings of malcontent I'd been stuffing back down for years. Coming back from a serious burnout I realised I was done with living a life that was not my own. I had been living the life I thought others expected of me for long enough. The decision to start figuring out how I was going to live my life true to myself was the logical conclusion. I figured out what my core values are (freedom, independence, connection with nature, teaching, outdoors, fun) pretty quickly. What that meant for the life I wanted to be living took a little longer to figure out. When I finally did I quit my job, sold my house and moved to the mountains in Austria. I worked as certified mountain hiking guide, very quickly realising I wanted to combine that with life coaching. It took me a couple of years to work up the courage to actually start doing that. Though I have coached pretty much all my life now I also wanted the proper tools and certification. You could say I went back to school, coaching school, to become a certified coach. Now I work with people who, as I was now over 10 years ago, are halfway through their (professional) life and who come to realise they're not living the life they envisioned for themselves. Basically they start to wonder who's life it really is they are living. I help them discover what their core values are, what is truly important to them and how they can use that to live a life true to themselves. I do this both online and in person. In all my coaching the mountains and my passion for them is never far away. I find mountains and mountain hiking to be a great metaphor for life. I use it in both my online and in person coaching. I also take people on actual mountain / coaching hikes with me. One-on-one but also in small groups of maximum 8 people. That way people truly get to step out of their comfort zone and experience both the healing space that mountains offer as well as all the different perspectives they offer first hand. FAVOURITE QUOTES TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD Have the courage to live your life true to yourself instead of the life others expect of you. #LiveYourOwnLife BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ Anything by Brené Brown, really. ‘Daring Greatly’ and ‘Rising Strong’ come to mind If I had to pick one book right now though, it would be ‘The War of Art’ by Stephen Pressfield. It's a great book about how resistance within ourselves really is just fear of change. It explains how we can deal with that fear and start moving in the direction we really want to be going. TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE: Transformational moments in life. Divine intervention, the power of meditation and inner guidance systems. The effect of humour and smiling on your emotional state. Young people, the educational system and the power of expressing creativity. The journey of breaking habits, the power of choice and visualisation. Developing an inner guidance system to support you in your life. HEAR MORE ABOUT LAURA JANE MCKEOWN: Hello, I'm Laura. I am a Reiki Energy Healer, Angel Oracle and Self Love Spiritual Coach. I share intuitive guidance, healing and loving support to help women discover both safety and freedom and feel reconnected to their truest self and personal power. After spending almost a life time learning how to be my own biggest bully, I went through episodes of self harm, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and alcohol abuse. I was extremely sensitive and was starving for love and approval outside of myself. I was lost, afraid and I didn't accept who I was. My outer world soon became a reflection of my inner world and I was often a victim of verbal, emotional and physical abuse and found myself in dangerous situations, where one day I almost lost my life. This was my wake up call and what I refer to as my blessing in disguise. That night I was guided back to safety by an angelic force and was gifted a second chance at life. I had a new deep sense of gratitude for life, but I began to suffer from PTSD. I would experience terrifying panic attacks constantly, I couldn't sleep and my body began to suffer. I had developed many phobias including medication for depression and anxiety and was referred to a panic attack group. We would all share our stories and what it was like to have a panic attack. I would always return home feeling ten times worse, struggling through depersonalisation and disassociation. My friends and family could no longer connect to me. I realised that I did not want this to be something that I had to live with and manage for the rest of my life. I believed that if I created it I could also change it. Every time I had a panic attack I believed that I was going to die and I would write letters to myself and my family promising that if I survived this I would become more loving, positive and make the most of myself and my life. This made me realise what was most important to me and who I really was. I decided to take healing into my own hands, skipped my whole final year of university to study self healing. I recovered from PTSD and was soon guided to many spiritual teachers and practices including reiki. I began giving free sessions to friends and family and began to tap into my intuition. I have kept to my promise and I now share my empathic nature, knowledge, healing and angel readings in my coaching practice to fully support women on their path into healing and spiritual awakening. I wish to bring women back to the powerful presence of love within them so that they can make the most of themselves and their life so that we can all truly thrive and grow together, trusting in ourselves and in life again. FAVOURITE QUOTE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD "...Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - A return to Love by Marianne Williamson In short :) ...... "as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." ONE BOOK YOU SHOULD READ 'You can heal your life' By Louise L Hay - This book first introduced me to self healing and how our inner world reflects our outer world. The first person who taught me that all dis- ease stems from a painful emotional belief we have about ourselves and the world. It is a really easy beautiful read full of real stories, teachings, lengthy and powerful affirmations lovingly written by Louise that sink into you as you read. There is even a table at the back full of almost every dis - ease and the painful belief that may lie beneath and the positive affirmation to help you begin to change that belief and thus support your healing. This book became my go to. 'Add more ing to you life' By Gabrielle Bernstein - I love this woman and she continues to be one of my best teachers and guides in the online world. When I got back onto discovering my spiritual path I was in my early 20's and was guided to Gabrielle Bernstein. There was something about her energy that I was really drawn to and I bought all her books. She wrote straight to the heart and helped make spirituality accessible to a young girl. I love this book 'Add more ing to your life' because it really helped me to reconnect to my intuition (ing stands for inner guidance system) she helped me to fall in love with my meditation practice and discover an infinite well of love, guidance and inspiration that lies within each and every one of us in the silent spaces. I continue to read all her books, she shines true authenticity and keeps it real which really helps me to connect, trust and learn. ABOUT SASHKA: - nationality: South African - residence: Austria and London (UK) - languages: English, German, Afrikaans - humour: in tact and funnier live - married to one husband - slave to one cat - mother to three cherubs: 12, 10, 8 (all empaths - God help me) - love working with kids - especially teenagers - I think aristotle re-incarnated himself in me - I philosophise waaaay too much for my young age HOW’D I GET TO WHERE I AM NOW? - Got hooked on advertising after being chosen to play the lead role in the Ugly Duckling at age 7 years old. I was the Ugly Duckling (in case you missed that). I had to advertise myself, the show, the cast, create the flyers and realised I was friggin’ good at it. So I took my good looks, creativity and amazing talents and merged them… at age 7 I didn’t know what marketing or advertising was. only that being in the entertainment business you had to market yourself to be noticed and loved. I was my own manager and there was no social media available (how the hell did I do it?!?!?) - I don’t have a ‘story’, I don’t have any PTSD or breakdowns or lost something or someone or had any dis-ease (Disclaimer: and admire those that do have a story like this and coming out better for it). So I hid in the shadows thinking I wasn’t interesting enough - although I really knew I was (complicated). - But I do have a story: I was the mediator between a gambler and worry-pot and lots and lots of money-fights-problems. I grew up despising money for its superficial lustre and wanting to work with those that had dreams and desires (I call them UnderGODS) but felt they weren’t good enough to become leaders in what they do because they didn’t have money (Disclaimer: This is prevalent in teenagers aka whom I love working with). Because I wasn’t very fond of the socialites and always hanging around the rejects-rebels-free-spirits-misfits and visionaries… this is where I found my ‘happy space’. And where I learned to challenge the status quo aka challenge the rich. - Then i got over my desire to belittle rich folk and found my zone of genius: through my creativity and wisdom, I inspire the underGOD in those that are destined to become legendary leaders…. and I brand their souls (it’s not painful - promise). - Oh! I didn’t mention how I got to where I am now: Lived and studied in South Africa (marketing advertising drama dance performance) - moved to London UK to study performance further - the doors closed on that but opened for marketing and advertising. My boyfriend at the time suggested we go to the Tyrolean Alps in Austria for a snowboarding holiday. Which is where I met my husband (oops). Now 21 years later and a lot of ups and downs later. I rule the roost in Austria. TELLING IT STRAIGHT LIKE IT IS: WHAT DO I DO? I’m a Branding | Marketing | Advertising & Sales Strategist - Author - Speaker and Thought Leader. I created Soul Brand Marketing© in my full-service agency BrandSashka e.U. I create and market Soul Brands. But not everyone’s a Nike or Red Bull status and yet they still have a message. I want to know that message and share it with the world to hear. In-between the No Name Brand interviews, I meet up with inspiring Influencers who’ve surpassed the beginner ‘Brand-stages’ and are now ‘influencing’… and I want to challenge that status quo and share with the listeners how that purpose came to flourish and why and how you maintain that influencer status.
