Episode 1862: Christine Comaford outlines a blueprint for engaging millennial employees by shifting away from outdated management models and toward purpose-driven, strength-based cultures. Her insights reveal that millennials crave meaning, real-time feedback, and development, not ping-pong tables or perks, and organizations that adapt will unlock a powerful, often untapped, talent pool. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://smarttribesinstitute.com/got-millennials-heres-culture-need/ Quotes to ponder: "Organizations shouldn't ignore weaknesses. Rather, they should minimize weaknesses and maximize strengths." "Indifference is a company-killer." "Millennials don't want annual reviews, they want ongoing conversations."
Today's episode title is a mouthful and for good reason. As first-gen Latinas, we're parenting and reparenting every single day. We live in that in-between space: raised one way by our parents, yet raising our own kids in a completely different world. There's healing here. There's unlearning. There's love, and yes, sometimes tears. We open our hearts in this conversation, asking questions like: What does it mean to say “I'm sorry” while still waiting to hear it from our parents? This one's raw, real, and deeply relatable. We hope you'll tune in to feel seen, maybe shed a tear (we sure did), and share in the beautiful mess of growing, healing, and breaking cycles... together.
In this gripping continuation of The Fourth Turning, CannCon and Ashe in America dive into Chapter 10 of Strauss and Howe's prophetic masterpiece, exploring how much of their “future history” has already come to pass. From 9/11 to COVID, government shutdowns, financial collapse, and even the concept of “polycrisis,” the hosts trace how the authors seemingly predicted America's unraveling in eerie detail. They dissect the generational archetypes...Boomers, Gen X, Millennials - and how each plays a role in the coming civic rebirth or collapse. Between laughs about “cougars,” Taco Bell runs, and the Great American Restoration Tour, Ashe and CannCon examine whether the crisis climax has already begun and what kind of America might emerge on the other side. Equal parts historical reflection and philosophical debate, this episode merges humor, scholarship, and faith in the way only Badlands Book Club can.

We love to make promises we can't keep—swearing to God, making deals, or vowing things we were never asked to. But God's promises? They actually hit different because he keeps every single one. This episode unpacks why our vows fall short and why trusting God's Word changes everything.Acts 5Judges 11
From 2009 to 2015, “Glee” burst into song on the Fox network. The musical TV series about group of outsiders in an Ohio high school finding a purpose and community through song pulled in millions of viewers and produced numerous musical singles that charted on radio, iTunes, and beyond, with a collective 36 million singles purchased digitally and 11 million albums sold worldwide. In this episode of Nomadic Diaries, hosts Doreen Cumberford, Megan Norton-Newbanks welcome Lois Bushong, Author, Retired Counselor and Coaching expert on Third Culture Kids (TCKs). This conversation dives deep into the ever-evolving concepts of home and belonging, exploring generational differences, digital community building, and the psychological needs that underpin our sense of “place.”Key Discussion Points1. Home vs. BelongingLois distinguishes between "home" (a physical space) and "belonging" (an emotional, psychological state). You can be in your literal home but not feel a sense of belonging, and vice versa.2. Maslow's Hierarchy and BelongingBelonging sits just above basic needs (food, water, safety) in Maslow's Hierarchy, emphasizing its foundational importance.3. Third Culture Kids (TCKs)Defined as individuals who spend their formative years outside their passport country.Lois shares her expertise working with adult TCKs and reflects on the impact of living between cultures.4. Generational PerspectivesLois breaks down differences between Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z, and even Generations Alpha/Beta.Younger generations are often more comfortable finding community online and are attuned to diversity and inclusion, whereas older generations favor face-to-face interactions, loyalty, and stability.5. The Digital ShiftThe rise of technology has transformed experiences, with terms like “experience plagiarism” and “sensory hijacking” describing how online interactions can dilute genuine life experiences.Despite challenges, Lois and others note positives—like the ability to maintain meaningful connections through digital tools.6. Authentic BelongingDefined as genuine, vulnerable connection, whether in-person or online. The group agrees that authentic belonging can occur in digital spaces when interactions are honest and supportive.7. Changing Work EnvironmentsFrom office-centric workdays to remote, location-independent jobs, the sense of community and routine has shifted.Loneliness and isolation can result, but digital check-ins and intentional connections (like sending a daily heart emoji) are important new practices.8. Internalizing BelongingLois highlights the importance of cultivating internal belonging, especially when external circumstances change.Healthy, authentic relationships act as reflective “mirrors,” helping us to truly see ourselves.Notable Quotes:“A home is a physical place... Belonging is a psychological concept.” Lois Bushong“Authentic belonging is when you're real with someone - not fake, not pretend.” Lois Bushong“Digital communities break down physical barriers, but you still need authenticity for true belonging.” Lois BushongTakeawaysBelonging looks different across generations and platforms - but its need remains urgent.Whether through face-to-face conversation, a heartfelt message, or a daily digital check-in, intentionality and authenticity are essential. For nomads, expats, and TCKs, belonging is both an internal journey and a relational one.Find Lois/Megan/Doreenhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/lois-bushong-a3241ab/https://www.linkedin.com/in/megancnorton/Support the showHome is Where Your Story Crosses Borders! We aim to inspire expat solutions, by helping you navigate global living with ease and grace.

Episode 2784: Wanderer dismantles the myth that 529 college savings plans are a smart financial move, revealing how their restrictions and market dependence often leave families worse off. With practical alternatives and a clear-eyed view of education costs, he shows how parents can invest more wisely and secure true financial freedom instead of chasing tax breaks that don't deliver. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://www.millennial-revolution.com/invest/529-plan/ Quotes to ponder: "Parents are told they're doing the right thing by saving for their kids' college education, but in reality, they're walking straight into a trap." "The government loves programs like the 529 because it gets you to tie up your money for decades, ensuring you keep working and paying taxes." "Instead of locking money away in a 529, invest it in an index fund, let it grow, and teach your kids how to be financially independent." A demolished temple, a displaced people, and a prophet who receives blueprints on Passover—Ezekiel's final vision is both a balm and a jolt. We step into chapters 40–48 and trace why the eight-chapter deluge of measurements and procedures is not filler but a signal that God intends a real place, a defined priesthood, and a rebuilt rhythm of worship marked by His presence. The dimensions don't fit the Second Temple mount, and the Shekinah glory's return through the East Gate never occurred in the Second Temple era, which pushes us toward a future fulfillment where holiness and order shape the life of the nation. We wrestle with the hardest question head-on: do renewed sacrifices undermine Christ's once-for-all work? Drawing from Hebrews and the broader story of Scripture, we explore how Old Testament saints were saved by faith and how sacrifices functioned as shadows pointing to Christ. From that vantage, Ezekiel's offerings can be understood as memorial, not rival atonements—akin to how the Lord's Supper looks back in gratitude and proclamation. Along the way, we note striking differences from Moses' system—the absence of the ark and incense altar, the prominence of the sons of Zadok, and a defined role for “the prince”—all of which suggest a new phase of worship under the Messiah's reign. Then the river flows. Starting at the temple threshold, deepening step by step, it heals the Dead Sea and transforms the land with fruit-bearing trees whose leaves bring healing. With named locations and clear bearings, the vision resists abstraction and harmonizes with Zechariah and Revelation's river of life. Finally, God redraws Israel's tribal inheritances, fulfilling sworn promises to the patriarchs. The through-line is hope: a holy God returning to dwell with His people, orderly worship that honors His character, and creation renewed from the sanctuary outward. If this exploration deepened your curiosity or clarified your view of Ezekiel's finale, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review to help others discover the show. How can Millennials, Gen Zs and Gen As thrive in a world where so much success depends on having access to the Bank of Mum and Dad? Historian Dr Eliza Filby – an expert in generational identity – tells Amol that society needs to shift in three major ways to mitigate the “rupture” between young and old: in values, education and wealth. Across Europe, Millennials and Gen Z are working, studying and saving, yet home ownership is increasingly out of reach. Though housing is officially recognised as a human right under Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the European Pillar of Social Rights, skyrocketing house prices and stagnant wages have created what Eurofound calls a “generation-wide affordability divide.” In this episode, I speak with Ina Delić youth engagement officer at Caritas Europe and part of the very generation she's advocating for, about the lived reality of Europe's housing crisis, and what it means for young lives and futures.Join us on our journey through the events that shape the European continent and the European Union.Production: By Europod, in co production with Sphera Network.Follow us on:LinkedInInstagram Hosted on Acast. Also, what are the signs of true revival, and are we seeing those signs in American life. Here are some links I mentioned in today's program: Ryan Burge seems particularly skeptical of a Gen Z revival. In July, he wrote that there was “zero convincing evidence” that Gen Z was returning to religion. He said that 38% of Gen Zers never attend church, compared to 31% of Millennials when they were that age. Jonathan Edwards wrote about revival: A Treatise Concerning Religious Affections (1746) and The Distinguishing Marks of a Work of the Spirit of God (1741).
Social media can be fun, inspiring, and full of connection—but it can also be a breeding ground for negativity. Se escucha música de Sebastián Yatra ('Vagabundo'), Kylie Minogue ('It's in your eyes'), Teddy Swims ('The Distance') y Alicia Keys ('Girl on Fire').
Every generation makes its share of real estate mistakes. Boomers often overpay for upgrades they could easily add. Gen X gets stuck chasing the “perfect” down payment. Millennials keep waiting for a 2008-style crash that never comes. And Gen Z? They fall in love with fixer-uppers they can't actually fix. This episode breaks down those common traps, what they cost, and how to avoid them—plus shares insights from a recent discussion with Congressman William Timmons on the ongoing government shutdown and its potential impact on housing. Buckle up, folks, because today's episode of Not Real Art is a real eye-opener! Our beloved host Sourdough is back, and he's dishing out some spicy takes on why the art market appears to be hitting a rough patch. With a blend of playful humor and serious analysis, he dives into the current state of galleries closing their doors and sales figures that are making everyone a bit jittery. What's the deal? Sourdough proposes that we're witnessing a fundamental shift as the baton is passed from the boomer generation to the millennials. This isn't just a passing trend; it's a cultural shift that's reshaping the very fabric of the art world. As he navigates through the conversation, Sourdough highlights that millennials are not just inheriting a market built on the boomer's dreams; they're actively rejecting it in favor of their own creative expressions. They're proving that you don't need to drop stacks of cash on a piece of art to appreciate it or to have a meaningful connection with it. This generation is all about supporting local artists and finding joy in affordable pieces that resonate with their personal tastes. It's a refreshing perspective that challenges the traditional notions of art as an elitist pursuit reserved for the wealthy.Sourdough doesn't shy away from calling out the stagnation in the art market—he points out that the same old models are no longer serving the majority of artists or buyers. With a lack of innovation and a failure to engage younger audiences, the art world risks becoming obsolete. He urges a reevaluation of how we connect artists with buyers, especially at the entry level, where most people are still dipping their toes into the world of art. With humor and heart, this episode invites listeners to rethink their relationship with art and to embrace a future that is more inclusive, innovative, and vibrant. So grab your headphones and get ready to rethink everything you knew about the art market!Takeaways: The Not Real Art podcast is all about celebrating creative culture and fresh ideas, aimed at inspiring listeners to appreciate art beyond the traditional boundaries. We're tackling the big question of why the art market is crashing, diving into how economic cycles and political uncertainty are reshaping the landscape. Millennials are shaking things up by rejecting the expensive art market of their boomer predecessors, opting for art that resonates with them personally rather than just what's deemed valuable. The podcast highlights a seismic demographic shift as millennials and younger generations become the new driving force in the art world, leaving behind the old models. In a world where boomers are aging out, the art market faces a fundamental transformation because millennials and Gen Z aren't buying into the old ways of doing things. We discuss the lack of innovation in the art market over the past decades, emphasizing the importance of attracting new buyers and fresh ideas to keep the industry alive. What if your mental struggle isn't a personal failure, but a logical reaction to a broken society? This week on A Mental Health Break, we are joined by poet, playwright, Yale graduate, and cultural critic D.C. Copeland, author of the forthcoming book, Societal Dropout: A Culture Manifesto for the New Millennium. D.C. brings a unique, potent voice to the show, leveraging the philosophy of Jung, Freud, and Nietzsche to dissect our modern anxieties. In this profound and provocative discussion, we dive deep into:The Societal Roots of Illness: We tackle the core question: How do we fundamentally remove the negative stigmatization about mental illness by shifting the focus from individual flaw to systemic failure? The Millennial Divide: D.C. offers a compelling analysis of the generation caught between extremes—why are Millennials either doing incredibly well or struggling with housing insecurity, and what does this financial anxiety do to their mental health?Gender and Constraint: We dissect a powerful quote from D.C.'s book: "My experience of the feminine is one of deep pain and glorious power." We explore how rigid gender constraints limit not only art, but the soul, and why finding power requires creating outside those boundaries.Life Beyond the Line: D.C. defines what "dropping out of society" truly means—is it a physical exit, or a necessary philosophical break to protect your well-being?If you've ever felt that you don't fit into the demands of modern life, this episode is your permission slip to rethink the system and prioritize your own mental freedom.Find D.C.
