Episode Notes In this episode of Sunday Edition, Anthony sits down with Gabriel Habech, the co-creator of Fovionics, to dive deep into the story behind a revolutionary piece of wearable tech designed for the blind and low vision community. Gabriel shares how he and his co-founder first met while studying engineering at FIU and began collaborating on ways to use technology for real-world impact. Inspired by Gabriel's close family friend Augusto — who lost his vision at age 7 — the two began exploring solutions that address challenges canes alone can't solve. The result: Fovionics smart glasses, equipped with innovative object detection sensors and an AI companion built specifically with feedback from our community. During this insightful conversation, Anthony and Gabriel walk through the development process step-by-step, answer listener questions, and unpack how Fovionics is the first to use this specific type of sensor in smart glasses, allowing for detection of hazards like low-hanging branches and signage — often missed by traditional mobility tools. They also discuss the real cost of access technology, how Fovionics' subscription model can help ease financial barriers, and why early community involvement is essential. With only 200 Early Adopter slots available and about 30% already filled, there's still a chance to help shape a tool that could transform lives — making it more responsive, intuitive, and affordable. If you're interested in being part of this exciting project, visit the links below: - Early Adopter Program - Interest Form The episode also explores the fascinating eye-to-brain and ear-to-brain connection, and how artificial intelligence and sensory input are getting us closer to real-time, adaptive tools — while acknowledging there's still more progress to be made. Participating in this beta could play a vital role in moving access tech forward for everyone. Don't miss this important conversation about innovation, advocacy, and inclusion — and how you can be part of the future of assistive tech. --- How to Listen: - Tune in every Sunday at 1 PM Eastern on 2020 The Beacon - Or search for Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona wherever you get your podcasts Join the Sunday Edition Family: - Facebook Group: Above the Fold: The Sunday Edition Conversation Space - To subscribe to our email list, send a blank message to: SundayEditionNews+subscribe@groups.io --- Coming Soon: Behind the Music Presented by Sunday Edition – The AI Open Mic Every third Friday of the month on 2020 The Beacon, we're opening the virtual stage for AI-generated creativity.
State of the Global Workforce” erscheint. Unsere wichtigsten Take‑aways für euch: 1. #Leadership #CorporateCulture #Family #Team #FutureOfWork #NewWork #Podcast #ZoomerMeetsBoomer LinkedIn: michaeltrautmann64 oskar-trautmann96

I spoke earlier this morning on the massive discounts being offered by MG MotorAustralia on its electric MG4 hatchback for the month of December. The five-model range carrying discounts of up to $10,910 - the entry Excite 51 model nowjust $32,990 drive-away. With a 10-year warranty and a high level of equipment it’sa very compelling offer. However, this race to the bottom with pricing gives littlethought to the customers who paid much higher prices earlier in the year. As along time car industry figure said to me this week early MG 4 customers will payheavily at trade in time. With EVs now being heavily discounted low resale valuesare something that many early adopters of electric cars are now finding, andmany dealers will now not offer a trade-in price for example on older Teslamodels. Stacey earned her bachelor's degree in Science, History and Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles. Industries - Law Enforcement, Fire, Non-Profit Business, Education Departments Platform – Fundraising, Recruitment, Marketing, Community, Communication, Web Dev't Notes: Seg 2 NEP services is a software company. They are an all in one hub for remote work. They can help you handle communication, data, and software interface. Helping you to run an organization remotely. They have added features so you can keep in contact with members and donors. The hybrid workspace is here to stay. It's not uncommon that you have remote staff that's in multiple states that needs to share data or have online meetings. Traditional nonprofits have had issues in the past because they don't run like a business. You need to run your organization like any normal business, working on cash flow and managing a staff. With remote workers it's harder to manage data, documents, and the Calendar. You need the right software so you can schedule events meetings meet ups. NEP Services is an Omni channel, all in one. Control distribution of your marketing and messaging. You also want to do your best to have engagement with members and donors. You build your brand internally to members and employees. Then you have your public brand for customers and donors. How to manage a software platform? Do you want to consult with clients, communicate with members and survey how it is working. What is helping and what is not helping? Then you do need to measure your feedback with data. Analyze the data to see what analytics matter. You make part of the decision with data. You can segment your Execs and VIP donors in different groups. You chat with them and get feedback. See about the delivery, the open rate, click through rates, check who filled out a survey. Seg 3 NEP services was founded in 1997 by Drew H. He was building a CRM for nonprofits to help with fundraising, Geo sensing and heat mapping. Build programs to bring in dollars. Staci joined 10 years ago. Initially, she was working in day-to-day ops of the nonprofit. Had to build the internal ops and make it more of a community focused organization. Still needs to be a business, with business structure. You have to grow operational efficiency, which is the key to scaling and growing a business. There are plenty of marketing and fundraising tools and software in the marketplace. But there are a few tools to help actually manage the business. Building a good operation you have to listen and build backwards. Ask the question, what features are needed? Communicate with members, as part of any nonprofit. Normal business, like collecting dues, invoicing, storage of documents. Also want to work with third-party tools to integrate with software you use. Cost benefit analysis for the software that have the API's for connect with third-party tools and ease of use for small business. NEP services provides an easy on ramp to engage with your audience and build a brand. All companies are technology companies now. You need to have IT involved in your business and know how to use technology. UX features which are accessible and easy to do to non-tech type people. Drag and drop features to make it easy. Reduce the technology required, and encourage that step into the future. Making it easy, and non-threatening for non-tech people to adopt. If a current nonprofit has 50 K members, that's a huge data set. If you add onto that another 50 K donor list, it's lots of data. Some handholding may be needed as there could be hesitation moving from an old system to a new system like NEP. The tech revolution is here and businesses need to adapt to survive. It's always a challenge by tech companies that they need to listen more and help customers. Customer service part needs to be better. NEP services answers the phone you'll always talk with people in customer service. Seg 4 Staci‘s on the road often meeting with customers. Emotional challenge of older businesses to adopt new technology. Room for improvement with the customer service model in Big tech. Often there is little onboarding support with software companies. NEP services is proud of their 97% retention rate. They have a listening culture and are customer obsessed. Most businesses have different audience demos that they need to put messages in front of. This could be 3 to 4. How do you reach your core audience? For example, audience demos can change. Members of unions are actually getting younger. They need a different message than the past. Work on your current systems to upgrade. NEP services offers communication with Connect Plus. Can buy in pieces and adopt slower. People adopting technology need to be honest about where they're at and where their brand is. Determine what tools are needed in the next 5 years. Typically it's a 1 to 2 month transition with the Connect Plus and NEP products. You have to organize your data sets, your member list, and your donor list. Good data in, equals good results. Opposite is true if you put bad data in. Will AI be the key to unlocking unparalleled human potential in the workplace or a threat to our very existence? This week, I'm digging into this, one of the most pressing questions of our time, with with Arjun Nagendran, founder of Relative AI. However, our conversation goes even deeper, tackling the nuanced ways AI can transform how we develop skills, enhance communication, and foster genuine human relationships. Arjun brought it with his dynamic experience at the intersection of robotics and AI, sharing insights from his work with the U.S. Navy and the Gates Foundation. We unpack how organizations can leverage AI to not only streamline processes but also to unlock hidden potential within their teams, sharing many real-world applications, such as how to use AI to analyze conversations at scale, predicting outcomes based on human psychology and linguistics, and improving employee engagement through data-driven strategies. However, like so many of my conversations, we go far beyond the technical details. There was a heavy focus on the human side of AI integration, reinforcing the importance of empathy, communication, and teamwork. We highlighted how AI can help us understand and enhance soft/power skills, leading to more cohesive and effective teams. I think any business leader, HR professional, or, quite frankly, anyone interested in the future of work will walk away with something. With that, listen in as we challenge the conventional wisdom about AI and explore its potential to create a more connected, efficient, and human-centered workplace. As always, it's my aim to keep you ten steps ahead in the rapidly evolving landscape of business and technology. Show Notes: In this episode, Christopher digs into the intricacies of using AI for skills and human connection with Arjun Nagendran, founder of Relative AI. They emphasize the strategic use of AI to mitigate organizational problems and enhance workforce skills. Arjun shares insights from his diverse background in robotics, virtual reality, and AI, highlighting how organizations can leverage data to solve practical problems, improve sales processes, and foster teamwork. They also explore the potential and limitations of large language models and the importance of specialized AI for achieving competitive advantages. The conversation provides valuable advice for organizations contemplating their AI strategies and the critical role of data and context in successful AI implementations. 00:00 - Introduction 01:14 - Arjun Nagendran: From Robotics to AI Innovations 04:50 - Exploring the Power of Language in AI and Human Interaction 12:42 - Unpacking the Potential of Conversational Data with AI 22:09 - Specialized AI: Beyond Generic Models to Tailored Solutions 27:59 - Strategic Applications of AI: Business Insights vs. People Development 32:53 - The Maturity Curve and Organizational Readiness for AI 35:35 - Effective AI Implementation Strategies 42:40 - The Risks of Mismanaging AI in Organizations 44:12 - Leveraging AI for Specialized Solutions 50:18 - Navigating the AI Landscape: A Strategic Approach 59:29 - Embracing AI: Practical Advice for Early Adopters #ai #NLP #digitaltransformation #skills #futureofwork

But paradoxically these discoveries could be external manifestations of the knowledge and wisdom that is also in us. We are announcing the second edition of our Latent Space demo day event in SF on 2/23: Final Frontiers, a startup and research competition in “The Autonomous Workforce”, ”Beyond Transformers & GPUs”, and “Embodied AI”. RSVP here! The first one was aimed for 15-20 people and ended up blowing up to >200 and covered in the Information - let's see what a year of growth (and competition) does to the local events space in 2024.You can find all Latent Space events here, and of course get in touch with us to host your own AI Engineer meetups like AI Engineering Singapore. In our December 2023 recap we covered the Four Wars of the AI stack. But how do we know when it's time to crown a winner? As we kick off 2024, we wanted to do a recap of the State of AI in 2023 to set a baseline of adoption for different products. Retool had a great report at the end of last year which covered a lot of it. David Hsu, CEO and co-founder of Retool, joined us to go over it together. We also talked about the history of Retool, why they were too embarrassed to present at YC demo day, and how they got to $1M ARR with 3 employees. If you're a founder, there are a lot of nuggets of advice in here!Retool AIIn our modeling of the “Software 3.0 Stack”, we have generally left a pretty wide open gap as to the “user interface” equivalent of the AI stack:Retool AI launched 4 months ago with some nifty features for SQL generation, and its own hosted vector storage service (using pgvector). However, as he explains on the pod, the more interesting potential of Retool is in helping developers build AI infused applications quickly, in combination with its Workflows feature. This moves Retool down the stack from just the UI for internal tooling to the business logic “piping” as well. There are a bunch of dedicated tools in this space like Respell, BuildShip, Flowise, and Ironclad Rivet."We think that practically every internal app is going to be AI infused over the next three years." - David on the podRIP StackOverflow? In July 2023 we talked about the impact of ChatGPT and Copilot:This was then disputed by StackOverflow, who pointed out (very fairly so) that there were privacy-related changes in their analytics instrumentation in 2022. StackOverflow no longer reports traffic, but based on StackOverflow's continuing transparency we can see that organic declines have continued throughout 2023.Retool's report comes over a year after those changes and has some self reported samples from users:* 57.6% of people said they have used StackOverflow less; almost all of them replaced it with ChatGPT and Copilot.* 10.2% said they no longer use StackOverflow. We also saw a lot more tools being released in the dev tools space such as (one of our oldest pod friends) Codeium (which just raised a $65M Series B), SourceGraph (and their newly released Cody), Codium AI (just released AlphaCodium which was picked up by Karpathy), Phind (which beat GPT-4 with OSS models), and Cursor, one of the most beloved products in the dev community at the moment. Intelligence is getting closer and closer to the IDE, and the trend doesn't seem to be reverting. We already said that “You are not too old (to pivot into AI)“, and the advice still stands. When asked to rate “Preference for hiring engineers effective at using ChatGPT/Copilot for coding” on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is “Much more likely”, ~40% of companies voted 8-10. Having an AI Engineer skillset is extremely important. 45% of companies between 1,000-4,999 employees said that they increased the difficulty of technical interviews to compensate for these new tools, so the gap between users and non-users will keep widening.Crossing the AI in Production ChasmGeoffrey Moore's “Crossing the Chasm” is one of the most quoted business frameworks. Every market has an initial group of Innovators and Early Adopters, who are willing to suffer through the rough edges of products initially, and eventually crosses into the Early Majority, which expects a full product. In the AI world, ChatGPT and Midjourney / DALL-E have crossed the chasm in the consumer space. Copilot is probably the only tool that did it in the enterprise, having crossed 1M paid users. ~$50B were invested in AI in 2023, and we still only have
Welcome to another episode of Category Visionaries — the show that explores GTM stories from tech's most innovative B2B founders. In today's episode, we're speaking with Richard Potter, CEO and Co-Founder of Peak, an AI platform that has raised $118 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: The Birth of Peak in the AI Landscape: Richard discusses the early vision for Peak in 2016, focusing on leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance business performance before the widespread AI boom. Educating Early Adopters: The initial challenge was educating the market on AI's potential, with many early adopters excited but equally many skeptics unsure of AI's practicality due to the data maturity levels at the time. Transitioning from Early Adopters to Mainstream Market: Richard outlines the shift in selling to early adopters versus mainstream adopters, emphasizing the need for certainty of outcomes and robust comparisons in the mainstream market. Go-to-Market and Marketing Philosophy: Peak's approach to marketing has evolved from raising awareness and generating excitement to focusing on value creation and demonstrating tangible benefits of AI to businesses. Navigating the Tech Recession and Future Optimism: Despite the challenges posed by the recent tech downturn, Richard shares a positive outlook for Peak's future, driven by strong current demand and growth. Fundraising Strategy and Lessons Learned: Richard reflects on Peak's fundraising journey, the strategy of raising early and often without desperation, and the importance of being bold and visionary from the start.
In this podcast we cover: A story about an innovative Tank commander in WW2. Why innovation by early adopters is crucial. How significance gets in the way of progress.
