Américaine ayant vécu, son enfance durant, le temps de la ségrégation, protestante fidèle à son ancrage spirituel, cette artiste n'a cessé depuis plus de quarante ans de lutter contre toutes les formes de racisme. Elle possède aujourd'hui la nationalité suédoise – et suisse – mais reste proche de la France, où sa personnalité n'a jamais cessé d'être aimée. 1983 proved a pivotal year in violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky's life. That was the year the Azerbaijan-born musician became a U.S. citizen, married his wife, and bought the Stradivarius violin he still plays to this day. It was also the year he discovered Glenn Gould's final recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. That album inspired Sitkovetsky to arrange the Baroque keyboard masterpiece for string orchestra — a project that would forever change the trajectory of his career as a musical artist. "My transcription gave me a whole other life parallel to my performing career," Sitkovetsky says on the latest episode of the Classical Post podcast. Annick Cojean, grand reporter du quotidien Le Monde, est l'invitée de Paris Direct. Elle publie "Nous ne serions pas arrivées là si…", une série d'entretiens réalisées avec 34 femmes du monde entier. Parmi elles se trouvent Gisèle Halimi, Barbara Hendricks, Isabelle Carré, Emma Thompson, Marjane Satrapi... Des femmes dont la voix porte qui  racontent leur trajectoire dans un monde fait "par ou pour les hommes".

Ce samedi 16 avril 2022, le Théâtre des Champs-Élysées met à l'honneur les voix lyriques d'Afrique. À travers les grandes voix du continent africain réunies sur scène, l'association « Women of Africa » offre une soirée exceptionnelle au profit des jeunes artistes lyriques africains autour de grands morceaux d'opéra et de chants traditionnels de l'Afrique. Parmi ses plus grandes voix, l'histoire du chant lyrique compte bon nombre de chanteuses afro-américaines de carrure internationale : depuis la pionnière, la contralto Marian Anderson, première chanteuse noire à chanter au Metropolitan Opera, Léontyne Price, Grace Bumbry, Jessye Norman, Barbara Hendricks ou Shirley Verrett ont interprété les plus grands airs sur les plus grandes scènes d'opéra du monde. Aux armes, citoyens! We have received advance warning that an army of foreigners masking as French speakers are storming the artistic gates, so to speak, and attempting to usurp France’s national artistic identity. Strangely, many of the invaders are operatic tenors, though they are accompanied by a coterie of vivandières singing popular music, all in French, no matter what their native tongues. Last week’s celebration of French glamour is today compromised, sullied, and usurped by all manner of unwelcome albeit glamorous guests, led by the New Zealander Frances Alda and buttressed by the American Eleanor Steber, fresh from celebrating her birthday this past week. Some of these figures masquerade more convincingly as actual French persons, but make no mistake, whether they be deceptive Canadians (Léopold Simoneau, Raoul Jobin, Richard Verreau), interloping Belgians (André d’Arkor), unwelcome Italians (the shocking Franco Corelli, the mysterious Dalida, and the dreaded Mirella Freni), subsersive Spaniards (Miguel Villabella, Alfredo Kraus, Tony Poncet) bullying Brazilians (Elis Regina), sneaky Swedes (Nicolai Gedda), denizens of the dreaded United Kingdom (Stuart Burrows, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Annie Lennox), Germans of nefarious intent (Marlene Dietrich, Daniel Behle), questionable Australians (Albert Lance, traveling incognito), suspicious Russians (Joseph Rogatchewsky), or worst of all, Americans intent on conquest (Barbara Hendricks, Eartha Kitt, Barbra Streisand, Muriel Smith, and even the spotlight-stealing Daniel Gundlach), these characters are all intent on destroying France’s language and music and must be thwarted at all costs, no matter how appealing their songs might appear to be. Glyphosate politics: Speaking just after the EU reapproved the use of glyphosate, Uhl, whose EFSA agency concluded there is no health risk associated with agricultural use of the weedkiller, said it's nevertheless legitimate to discuss what kind of value system should support our agriculture. He wants critics of his agency though to admit that those values debates are “not about science,” while conceding that the intersection of science and values is “always a difficult interface.” “Safest food in the world”: This month the EU celebrated 15 years of its landmark food safety law. Uhl insisted the law sets Europe apart and above other countries and regions which it comes to food “transparency,” “traceability” and “crisis preparedness.” The law was born out of the 1990s BSE crisis and “a real breakdown of trust into the whole food system and food safety system,” he said. Hos dem musiceras det ständigt och två av Constances tre systrar, Josepha och Aloisia, är skickliga sångerskor, ja, Aloisia hyllas som sin tids viktigaste sopran.Äldsta systern Josepha blir den allra första Nattens Drottning i Mozarts opera Trollflöjten. Constance själv sjunger bl a sopransolot Et incarnatus est vid uruppförandet 1783, av den då ofullbordade Mozarts stora C-mollmässa, i Benediktinerkyrkan i Salzburg. En mycket svårsjungen mässa.Under åren med Constance skapar Wolfgang sina bästa verk. Vinden vänder 1791 när den blott 29-åriga Constance blir änka. Mozart avlider endast 35 år gammal. Constance överlever honom med mer än 50 år!För Constance vänder vinden återigen när hon efter Mozarts död möter den danske diplomaten Georg Nissen, som är utstationerad i Wien. 1809 gifter de sig och skapar ett harmoniskt, lyckligt äktenskap. De bosätter sig mellan 1810 och 1820 i hans hemstad Köpenhamn. Nissen skriver en biografi över Mozart och Constance ser till att biografin trycks efter Nissens död 1826.Constance ägnar största delen av sitt liv åt att promovera Mozarts musik och bevara hans musikaliska kvarlåtenskap. Growing up African American in segregated Arkansas in the 1950s, Barbara Hendricks witnessed firsthand the painful struggle for civil rights. After graduation from the Juilliard School of Music, Hendricks immediately won a number of important international prizes, and began performing in recitals and operas throughout the world. A Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, she is as devoted to humanitarian work as she is to her music. Always the anti-diva, Hendricks is a down-to-earth and straightforward woman, whether singing Mozart or black spirituals. She challenges stereotypes and puts the music first and presents a warm, engaging, and honest self-portrait of one of the great women of music. Barbara Hendricks is an operatic soprano and concert singer. She has sold more than 14 million copies of more than 80 records, and has appeared in major opera houses throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. She was named Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 1987 and founded the Barbara Hendricks Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation in 1998. Kofi A.
