Have you ever noticed a behavior or pattern that you know you should change, but you just can't seem to? Whether it's scrolling aimlessly on your phone or saying yes to commitments you don't want, that moment of recognition is where change begins. But what if that moment of awareness, even without immediate change, is more powerful than you think? In this episode, I revisit one of the foundational concepts in behavior change: awareness precedes change. While this idea was introduced in an early episode, my understanding has evolved significantly. You'll learn practical ways to expand your awareness beyond just cognitive observation, including a simple practice you can use anytime. People pleasing is one of the most adaptively constrained behaviors we engage in as human beings. It is a highly developed skill, yet most people do it to excess and much disappointment. Stop Being a People Pleaser is a look at one of the most common expression of our subpersonalities, and one of what many people consider next to perfectionism a dysfunctional behavior. Perfectionism is a version of people pleasing. Seeking external validation and affirmation. The goal is to become inner directed. To disengage from the manipulative and dishonest practice of people pleasing.ANNOUNCING: THE LIMITLESS EXPERIENCEDaniel D'Neuville is a peak performance coach, spiritual teacher, and master life and business coach. Email marketing still converts better than most digital channels, yet many businesses overlook this powerful tool because of misconceptions about its effectiveness or complexity. • Email is definitely not dead – it's been generating millions in revenue for over a decade• Design doesn't matter in email – focus on consistency and authenticity instead• The sweet spot for email frequency is 2-4 times per month• DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) are now essential for good deliverability• Different platforms serve different needs – MailChimp for beginners, Active Campaign for automation, GoHighLevel for all-in-one• Lead magnets should provide genuine value worth at least a couple hundred dollars• Perfectionism kills results – "good enough to get it out there" is a winning philosophy• Structure emails with curiosity in subject lines, a hook at the beginning, storytelling in the middle, and a clear CTA• The 7-11-4 principle: prospects need 7 hours of content, seeing your message 11 times, across 4 channels• Being "unapologetically authentic" builds stronger connections than polished marketing-----Guest Information: https://www.linkedin.com/in/schwedelson/https://subjectline.com/https://guruconference.com/https://outcomemedia.com/------More from EWR and Matt:Leave a Review if it was content you enjoyed: https://g.page/r/CccGEk37CLosEB0/reviewFree SEO Consultation: https://www.ewrdigital.com/discovery-callOne-on-One Consulting: https://www.ewrdigital.com/digital-strategy-consulting/private-consulting-session—The Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing podcast is a podcast hosted by Internet marketing expert Matthew Bertram. Where does the scarcity mindset, imposter syndrome, and loss aversion come from? Welcome to a mindset masterclass from history. Learn if the very instincts that kept humanity alive are now keeping you from truly living. For 290,000 years, we survived by playing it safe, following the tribe, and hoarding resources. These weren't character flaws—they were survival strategies in a world where innovation could mean death. The scarcity mindset that once threatened our ancestors' survival now threatens our potential. The tribal conformity that once protected us now prevents breakthrough thinking. The focused attention that once saved lives now creates cognitive tunnels. This episode goes beyond history to recognise the invisible forces shaping your choices and breaking out of survival mode. ------- NEW SHOW - How to Change the World Sam's new show can be found on major podcast players: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/1Fj3eFjEoAEKF5lWQxPJyT Apple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-to-change-the-world-the-history-of-innovation/id1815282649 YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@HowToChangeTheWorldPodcast Can't find it on your player? Come to a Dehoarding Accountability Zoom Session: http://www.overcomecompulsivehoarding.co.uk/ticket Subscribe to the podcast: https://www.overcomecompulsivehoarding.co.uk/subscribe Podcast show notes, links and transcript: http://www.overcomecompulsivehoarding.co.uk/ Today I'm talking about why letting yourself make mistakes - like running out of everyday items or doing things imperfectly - can actually help if you're struggling with hoarding. From challenging perfectionism to rethinking the fear of scarcity, I'll share how embracing messiness can move us forward. Plus, I'll offer practical ideas for easing those fears and making progress, one small, imperfect step at a time. Announcement of new dates for Dehoarding Accountability Zoom Sessions. Aimed at connecting people who hoard for conversation and simultaneous decluttering. Details on how to get tickets and availability through several upcoming months. The Value of Making Mistakes Challenging the idea of perfection and fear of making mistakes. Proposing the benefits of allowing oneself to: Make more mistakes. Run out of things occasionally. Do things imperfectly or “half-arsed.” Identifying how fear of mistakes and perfectionism can keep people stuck in hoarding behaviours. Perfectionism and Fear of Scarcity Perfectionism: Fear of making the “wrong” decision leads to inaction or keeping everything. Uncertainty about the future and anxiety about discarding items. All-or-nothing thinking: If it can't be done perfectly, it's not worth starting. Personal reflection on the struggle with perfectionist tendencies. Fear of Scarcity: “Keep it just in case” mentality. Stemming from past experiences of poverty or deprivation. How personal history and upbringing foster scarcity-based behaviours. Recognition that such fears can be irrational and still hold significant power. How this fear leads to over-acquisition and reluctance to discard. Addressing Perfectionism and Scarcity (Mindset Shifts) Techniques to gently challenge perfectionism and scarcity fears. Reframing mistakes as learning opportunities rather than failures. Allowing for experimentation as a method of progress. Embracing Mistakes as a Path Forward Learning from mistakes as a source of growth and behaviour change. Normalising occasional regrets over discarding or not acquiring something. Comparing the cost of keeping everything versus the occasional “mistake.” Observing emotional responses to mistakes as a way to learn and build decision-making confidence. Encouragement to start with low-risk decisions and build up “dehoarding muscle” gradually. Allowing Things to be Done Imperfectly Encouragement to “do things badly” rather than waiting for perfect execution. “Done is better than perfect” as a motivating principle. The danger of all-or-nothing thinking leading to perpetual inaction. Practical examples of doing small tasks imperfectly: Tackling a small part of a larger problem (e.g., half a shelf). Donating a partial bag of items. Taking any step forward, even imperfect ones, counts as progress. Allowing Yourself to Run Out of Things Creative and resourceful solutions arise when supplies run low. Examples from daily life (cooking, art journalling) where scarcity breeds creativity. Differentiates between essential items and those where running out is an acceptable risk. Suggestions for consciously assessing what's truly necessary to keep in stock. Experimental Mindset: Treating Dehoarding as Data Collection Each decision - successful or not - provides valuable data for future choices. Building confidence and capability for bigger, more challenging decluttering decisions over time. Summary and Reinforcement of Key Points Allow for imperfection, mistakes, and occasional scarcity. Importance of starting with manageable steps and celebrating imperfect progress. “Done is better than perfect”—taking action, however small, is crucial. We are just a hologram projection of the patterns we run from our past until we stand up and change them. Topics Discussed Functional vs. Western medicine thyroid ranges How perfectionism and suppressed expression block healing Gut healing as the foundation of hormonal balance Misleading food sensitivity tests Energetics of autoimmune fertility challenges Releasing childhood wounds stored in the body Energetics of healing the inner child You think just because it hasn't happened yet, you need medical assistance. But what if that timing is your transformation? Hello Beautiful Souls, Monica here... Today's episode goes deep; we're talking about thyroids, but not just the kind your lab work pretends is fine. I'm cutting through the medical gaslighting and calling out the perfectionism that's been silently running your show since you were a girl who learned being good and quiet was safer than being heard. You don't need a thyroid diagnosis to feel this one. We're looking at how being a high-achieving, Type A goddess with zero chill and a tightly clenched jaw might actually be the root of your fertility struggle. Yeah, I said it. It's not about pink lines; it is about reclaiming your voice, body, and energy from the inside out. If your gut is “healed” but you still can't get pregnant, or if your labs are “normal” but your intuition is screaming, this episode is your reminder: your healing journey is not a damn checklist. It's a reckoning. If you're doing all the things and still feel stuck in the same fertility loop, this one's for you. We're diving into the kind of work that doesn't show up on lab reports but lives in your nervous system. That burning sensation in your throat? It might not just be your thyroid. It could be decades of words unsaid, versions of your unseen, and emotions unexpressed. If you're done outsourcing your healing and ready to become the most expressed, magnetic, and deeply safe version of you. Press play. Your healing journey isn't about doing more. It's about becoming more of who you were before the world told you to be less. Timestamps 02:23 Perfectionism, not being heard, and how it links to fertility blocks. 06:15 Understanding when medical support is needed and why you should go into it empowered. 07:35 What Western medicine misses in thyroid testing and why thyroid is the root cause for fertility struggles. 10:17 Gut health truths that no one is telling you and the importance of doing the right things for you. 12:23 Why your “clean” diet might still be inflammatory and the energetic root of thyroid issues. 18:04 How your body holds on to old emotional wounds and how to release that pain. 23:18 Why physical and energetic healing must happen together. The reason that situation still impacts your life is because you're still holding the emotion tied to it. Inside Strategic Coach: Connecting Entrepreneurs With What Really Matters
Are you holding back, waiting for the “right” decision? In this episode, Shannon Waller and Dan Sullivan reveal why taking action—even imperfect action—is the key to entrepreneurial momentum. Discover how making any decision unlocks feedback, reduces anxiety, and activates your best thinking, while indecision keeps you stuck. Plus, learn practical strategies to overcome perfectionism and move forward. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode:The importance of making a decision that requires that you take action. How indecision leads to more indecision. What you sacrifice when you refuse to choose. How to get a clear picture of the situation you're in. Show Notes: Taking action, even with imperfect information, is better than staying stuck in indecision. The problem with making no decision is that you're not changing the situation that's paralyzing you. When you can't make a decision, the pressure builds on you exponentially, as does the feeling of isolation and disconnection from your team and your goals. As soon as you start taking action, you get an enormous amount of information about whether it was a right action or a wrong action.Perfectionism is the enemy of progress. Humans are best when they're in motion. People become unproductive when they're not making decisions. You don't have to make the right decision. You can make a decision, and then make it right. Clarity and confidence come after you commit, not before. Decisive entrepreneurs make mistakes, but they also learn and adapt much faster than indecisive ones. When you're indecisive, you lose access to your wisdom, experience, and problem-solving abilities. The act of deciding eliminates alternative options and allows your mind to focus on what matters most. Protecting your role and saying no to distractions is a by-product of being decisive about your commitments. The word “decide” literally means to “kill off” alternatives, freeing you from mental clutter and overwhelm. "It needs to be finished, not perfect." Today, I'm talking about perfectionism. Some people believe that making their business or offer perfect is an admirable quality—but I've got news for you: it's not. Perfectionism has haunted many of the women I've seen start their own businesses. Over time, I've come to recognize it as a coping mechanism—a way to avoid the fear of making what you're working on real. Tune into today's episode as I break down the walls of perfection and build up the foundations of forward momentum.
