Sylvie Blum discusses her first marriage to photographer Gunter Blum, highlighting him as a profound artistic mentor. She describes his studio as filled with unique art, including realistic paintings and leather objects, showcasing his diverse artistic background. Sylvie reflects on the complex dynamic of being an artist's partner, acting as muse, assistant, and wife, which she says accelerated her personal growth. She then contrasts this with her current marriage to Dieter, a mathematician, emphasizing their vastly different backgrounds. Additionally, Sylvie mentions their shared venture, a German Riesling winery with plans for art-themed wine editions. Finally, she recounts the serendipitous discovery that her current studio was once Herb Ritts' space, revealed by David Fahey, adding to the studio's rich artistic history and creative aura.Show Clip from The Paris Chong Show with Sylvie Blumhttps://youtu.be/y1EFvAFKVvUhttps://www.theparischongshow.com
Matthew Finley (b. 1972) uses his photography to express himself and connect to the world around him. With a variety of photography processes, he explores intimate emotions through gesture and line to communicate his experience. Growing up queer in an unaccepting environment, Finley felt apart from the world around him. Now, as an adult working through anxiety, the studio is a safe space to create where he can be vulnerable and express his true self. Creating and exhibiting his work is a way to forge relationships with viewers and help those who see themselves reflected in it to feel less alone. Finding inspiration in classic art and statuary, he addresses modern issues such as his coming out story, intimate relationships, and finding peace in our tumultuous world. Based in Los Angeles, Finley's work has shown in solo and group shows in multiple galleries across the U.S. Most recently, his work was on the walls of the esteemed Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles with the likes of Herb Ritts and Herbert In 2024 Finley was awarded CENTER Santa Fe's Personal Award as well as the Center for Photographic Art's LGBTQ+ Artist Grant for his project An Impossibly Normal Life. THE DAGG SESSIONSKen Tizzard and Music For Goats In St.John's in 1982 I cut my teeth playing bass with local skate/punk bands who wholeheartedly embraced the DIY model of the punk rock culture. SNFU were the first band I had ever seen who had taken this model to a national level and upon seeing the energy and intensity of the performance I knew - this was what I wanted to do with my life. At 18 I relocated to Toronto and landed a job at Music Express Magazine which let to the position of photo editor where I got to work with legendary photographers Floria Sigusmondi, Herb Ritts and Annie Leibovitz shooting bands like David Bowie, REM and U2 as well as hundreds of touring band around the world. This introduction to the music business, record companies, PR agencies and band management helped me to understand the relationship of band and audience from the viewpoint of the ‘machine.' As well, sharing office space with Management Trust (Jake Gold) led me to an audition with The Watchmen. In turn this changed my life direction for over a decade as I toured the world and grew as a songwriter and artist. In 1999 I began working a lot with Big Wreck singer Ian Thornley who at the time was married to my sister Christine. Big Wreck and The Watchmen were in between albums and both bands were feeling the weight of years of touring and the change in the record companies as we moved into the digital age. Ian and I decided to form a new band which led to the creation of Thornley with whom I toured relentlessly for many years. Towards the end of Thornley, Ian had decided to recreate the magic that was Big Wreck and again I toured with the band under that name as I began parting ways with the lifestyle and direction of the band. Upon leaving Thornley, there was a period of return to DIY with independent records which captured my solid endeavours - from six string bass singer songwriter (Quest Storey house) through several incarnations of bands including Bad Intent, The Variety Show Players and in 2017 the unlikely local crew which has grown to become Music For Goats. As well, the development of The Whiskey Wednesday Show created a need for a production studio which we also created in our home. The Show has grown into a seven camera, 24 channel audio, weekly livestream hosting guests from Rick Mercer, William Prince and Joey ‘Shithead” Keithley (D.O.A.) to Matt Mays and Bob Izumi. Songs and stories every week with your host Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats. It is now January 2024 and I am once again looking to release another album of original music with the current line-up of Music For Goats; Neil Lucy (guitar) Ken Grant (bass) and Dave Lawrence (drums) and Steve Dagg (RIP - drums). This album titled “THE DAGG SESSIONS” celebrates the songs created before drummer Steve Dagg was diagnosed with Cancer. After a year long battle of treatments Steve passed away in the winter of 2023. We had recorded the drums for the entire record in September before Steve's illness was terminal. The Dagg Sessions is available on all platforms on April 30, 2024 The Dagg Sessions will be available on vinyl thanks to contributors who purchased sections of the back album cover in order to help out with up front costs. Yes, we are sell outs… As for style of this record, I have to say it fits in with the Americana genre pretty well as if combines folk, country, rock and pop into a collection of songs that once again document a time and place in my own personal history. Hush. Just. Stop. Pop fans, it's absolutely time that we jumped back into the world of Britney on the podcast! We are travelling back to the year 2000, with location pins dropped from Mars to Miami, to celebrate Britney's iconic second album “Oops!… I Did It Again” and its accompanying world tour, which saw her in the very same room as our very own Joel Babbington for the first time in London. This massively successful, Diamond-certified teen-pop album marks an 18-year-old Britney Jean beginning to evolve after the industry-shifting success of her debut “…Baby One More Time”. Whether it was showcasing a fiercer image on ‘Stronger' with video director Joseph Kahn, or painting a portrait of a trapped celebrity in ‘Lucky' - it's clear Britney has something to say. What U See (Is What U Get). From the commanding MTV VMA performance of her Rolling Stones cover ‘(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' to the softer, sensual side of the Herb Ritts video for ‘Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know'; Joel and David are taking you on a deep-dive like no other of this era.
There are so many good things on this podcast, I don't know if I can list them all here. Mike talks about the time he was in Italy and a 10-foot wall of dirt magically appeared overnight in front of the photo-shoot location and what they had to do to have it removed so they could shoot. We discuss how his career path went from going to Seminary school to almost becoming a history teacher to ending up as an art producer at Leo Burnett, working on many of the Iconic Marlboro Country ads, including one in Paris, the famous photographers he has worked with including Herb Ritts, Annie Leibowitz and many more. There is also the story of the famous actor that hung up on Mike as soon as they heard his name and how he handled that, his advice to new photographers and art producers and so, so much more. I know you're going to love this one. So go take a listen and let me know what you think. Be sure to Like it, Share, Subscribe and Comment!
"As Arnold Schwarzenegger says, 'We don't have Republican air. We don't have Democrat water. We all breathe the same air. We all have the same water. It's happening to all of us, and it's happening all over the world. And if we just continue to ignore it so that we can put some money in our pockets, or we can get reelected, what are we leaving for the future?' "It's not just that he grew up in a rural environment too. He was born on July 30th, 1947. And most of us today don't have any understanding or relationship to what Europe was like right after World War II. The winter of 1946/1947 in Austria was the most brutal in decades. The people already had too little food. They were in an occupied country. The summer potato crops failed. As Arnold has said, his mother had to go from farm to farm to farm, begging for food to be able to feed her children. His father, like all the men in the village, was defeated by the war. I mean, they were not just defeated by their side losing, but realizing what their side had stood for, that they were the bad guys. And he saw them all physically, emotionally, intellectually defeated and taking it out on their wives and children, that he was beaten and his mother was beaten. All the neighbor kids were beaten, and they were beaten into a kind of placid defeat. And he alone would not accept that. He could not see that life for himself. And he was, as a child, searching for ways to get out of that. And bodybuilding became that when he learned about bodybuilding as a very poor boy. They lived on the top floor of a house. They had no plumbing. They all bathed once a week in the same tub in the kitchen. And his brother and he had to bring the water in. His mother heated it, and they took baths one by one. Mother first, father second, older brother third, Arnold last in the tub of dirty water. And so he wanted out of that. And as a poor boy, he had nothing but his body to work with. That was it. There was not going to be any college. There was not going to be any of that. There was going to be some kind of menial job, or he could use what he had - his body - to get him out of there."“Why I was different from all the other boys in my town I cannot tell you. "I was really familiar with Arnold through bodybuilding. I became a weight trainer myself after meeting him at the 1981 Mr. Olympia contest, but I largely knew him through his movies like everyone else. And when you see him in the movies, he's famous for these very short one-liners that make it seem as if he is nonverbal, that he's not particularly intelligent. You don't get his humor. The first time I went to Arnold's house, I saw that this man is the greatest storyteller, the greatest entertainer ever.He is funny, he is witty, he is quick. He can tell a story like no one else, and not just tell it, he would act it out. He would get up and stomp around and make noises with his mouth. He told me a simple story about a woman in the gym who was not working out, who was just sitting on a bench and talking on the phone to her friend and eating a bag of potato chips. And he was able to replicate the sound of eating potato chips just with his mouth. He is underappreciated. I guess that's what it is. And as I started going through his archive, I saw that there are certain photographs that show him and his facial expressions like none other. And those photographs are always when he is interacting with children or interacting with animals and all pretense drops away. His face just lights up. It is real, it is genuine, it is open. And that's something that I tried to include as much as possible, particularly in the small book that is more personal, to show that human, affectionate, warm side of Arnold."“Why I was different from all the other boys in my town I cannot tell you. “Why I was different from all the other boys in my town I cannot tell you. I was simply born with the gift of vision.” – ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGERIs there any better example of the American Dream than Arnold Schwarzenegger? What does it take to make your vision a reality? How do you cultivate iron focus to overcome any obstacle and realize your dreams? On the publication of Arnold Schwarzenegger's limited edition two-volume book published by TASCHEN, we sat down with Senior Editor and Writer Dian Hansen to discuss Schwarzenegger's life, accomplishments, and history of unforgettable performances. The book has been a decade-long collaborative process and along with portraits by leading photographers Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Francesco Scavullo, and Andy Warhol, it is also filled with photos from Arnold's private archive and exclusive interviews. Dian's other works include The Art of Pin-up, Masterpieces of Fantasy Art, and The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta."Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito and director Ivan Reitman, who also wrote the film, were willing to work for free and just take a percentage of the profits. They were able to get the film made. They had to fight with the studios to produce that film. And the only way that the studio agreed to produce Twins was when they said, 'We will not take any salary. We will do this movie for free. We will just take a little percentage of the profits.' And the studio thought, Okay, it's going to be a very cheap film to make. No special effects. No stunt people. It's going to be very cheap and easy. These guys, these idiots are going to do it for free. And everyone involved has made more money off that film than any other film. Arnold, actually, for all the high, high prices that he got for his late Terminator films, he still has made more money off Twins because of taking a percentage.""And when you see him in the movies, he's famous for these very short one-liners that make it seem as if he is nonverbal, that he's not particularly intelligent. He is underappreciated."www.taschen.com/en/limited-editions/film/03105/arnold-collector-s-editionwww.schwarzenegger.comwww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcastImages courtesy of Taschen. He told me that he had always been interested in the environment. He grew up being very cautious about everything. You don't waste water, you don't waste power, all these things as a poor child. "Benedikt Taschen, like myself, like Arnold, is a man without formal education. Benedikt started his business when he was 18 years old and opened a comic book store. He had been buying and selling trading comic books since the age of 15. He made the money himself to open a comic book store and then went into publishing right after that. And I said, 'Benedikt, when did you have time to go to college?' And he said, 'There was no time. I did not go.' And so people are tempted to call people like Benedikt, to call people like Arnold, to call people like me, self-made. But we are obviously not self-made. We are determined, and we use our determination to bring other people into our dream and our motivation to accomplish what we want. And so Taschen sees in Arnold himself and his own determination he sees in me, himself, and his determination. And so we all come together in that, you know, let's celebrate somebody that most people would not imagine was an art book subject. This has been Taschen all along. Oh, they make sex books. You know, that's not art. Well, Benedikt Taschen said to me at the time when he hired me, and he was trying to hire me since 1994, I said, 'Well, you know, I made porn magazines. Am I going to have to change everything I do to make art books?' And he said, no.He said, 'I'm hiring you because I like what you do. We make good books. We put good art in our books. We put good sex material in our books. We do not put bad art in our books. We do not put bad sex material in our books. We do it good, and then it's art. And that is what we have done all along.' Antonio Sabàto Jr. talks with Paul Cardall about the american dream beginning with the story of how his grandmother survived the holocaust. He shares the story of immigrating to the United States where his father, an Italian actor, worked construction while appearing in Hollywood films. From learning english, Antonio talks about life as an immigrant and dreaming to become an actor like his father. He would first find fame in the 1990s as an underwear model for Calvin Klein and playing Jagger Cates on the soap opera General Hospital from 1992 to 1995. Antonio and Paul talk about his career in films with stars like Mark Walberg, the complications of the film business, films he is making and wants to make, and how God plays a central role in his life and career. ABOUT ANTONIO SABATO JR.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/antoniosabatojrFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/antoniosabatojr/Twitter: https://twitter.com/AntonioSabatoJr Antonio Sabato Jr. has proven to be one of the hottest commodities to come out of daytime television, nabbing a series of prime-time roles and appearing in the most successful Calvin Klein underwear campaign in the company's history. Antonio was most recently seen guest-starring on the CBS hit CSI: New York and on ABC's comedy Scrubs after completing the first season of his hit reality show My Antonio for VH1. Touted as the next evolution in reality dating, the show featured 13 exciting contestants vying to win Antonio's heart. With Hawaii as the show's exotic location, Antonio put his potential dream mates through a series of adrenalin-fueled adventures as he searched for “the one.” Antonio's overprotective mother, Yvonne, was also on hand to interject her own form of advice and guide her son on his search. Antonio will next be seen in the new TNT hit, Rizzoli & Isles. He will next be seen on the big screen in director Penelope Spheeris' comedy Balls to the Wall. Antonio was most recently seen in the lead role as serial killer Henry Lee Lucas in the indie feature Drifter: The Henry Lee Lucas Story, for which he won Best Actor at The 2009 Beverly Hills Film Festival. In 2008, he guest-starred on the hit CBS drama NCIS and also starred in the movies Ghost Voyage for the Sci-Fi Channel and Desitniantion: Infestation opposite Jessalyn Gilsig for Lifetime Television. Antonio also reprised his famed General Hospital character, Jagger Cates on SoapNet's Night Shift after winning NBC's hot summer series Celebrity Circus, where he performed nearly-impossible “Cirque du Soleil-esque” acts. Previously, Antonio starred on the popular CBS daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful playing a role created specifically for him. Growing up in Rome, Antonio's first language is Italian and he didn't learn to speak English until he moved to Beverly Hills in 1984 with his mom and sister. His big break came when he was cast in the infamous Janet Jackson video “Love Will Never Do Without You,” shot by Herb Ritts. When Antonio joined the cast of ABC's General Hospital in the spring of 1992, the show jumped from seventh to third in the daytime Nielsen ratings. That same year, Antonio landed a coveted spot in People Magazine's “50 Most Beautiful People” issue. Fashion designer Calvin Klein hired the actor in the summer of 1996 to be the company's first celebrity model since Mark Wahlberg four years earlier. During his tenure with Calvin Klein, Antonio appeared in a campaign photographed by Herb Ritts and on a 90-foot billboard in the middle of Times Square. One of Antonio's most memorable roles was that of Heather Locklear's abusive ex-husband in a six-episode stint on Melrose Place. In 1998, Antonio appeared opposite Mark Wahlberg, Lou Diamond Phillips in The Big Hit. Antonio has made guest appearances on such notable shows as FOX's Ally McBeal and the WB's Charmed. For the last sixteen years, Chris Meyer has been a funeral homeowner. In addition to learning many things about love, loss, and life, his entrepreneurial spirit drove him to create two websites from the ground up: first magillaloans.com and, more recently, funandmoving.com, a streaming exercise and rehab platform for those over sixty years of age. Chris has a Juris Doctorate and Master's in Environmental Law (Magna Cum Laude) from Vermont Law School and a BA in Politics and History from Brandeis University. He has been a licensed New York State attorney for over twenty-eight years. Prior to his funeral life, he wrote, directed, and produced a low budget film called "Black is White". The feature length, race relations drama was written up in Variety as the film to watch from the Independent Feature Film Market in New York City. It was one of twelve international films chosen for the Rome Film Festival. When the film was not chosen for the Sundance Film Festival, Chris loaded up his car and moved to Hollywood to become a screenwriter. He made a living as a production assistant working for Herb Ritts, the premier fashion photographer of his time and on various studio lots. He has been married for over twenty years and enjoys coaching his sons in various sports. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce in his community. And during the pandemic, COVID has accelerated the addictive mindset. Too many of us abuse one or more things, whether it is smoking cigarettes, vaping, having sex, drugging, drinking, eating, gambling, shopping or any of a dozen or more unhealthy and sometimes life-threatening, possibly illegal, career-ending, family-damaging habits. We are caught in a maze, like a lab rat. It is time to Exit The Maze, according to a breakthrough book by a former addict (marijuana, alcohol, and nicotine) who, as a mental health counselor, has successfully treated over 6,000 patients during the past three decades. She has found what has proven to work in treating addiction. “Addiction behavior operates like a hungry mouse looking for cheese in a maze,” says Dr. Marks, based in South Florida. “The mouse frantically runs through the maze in all different directions looking for the cheese. The mouse doesn't care about the amount, the shape of the cheese, or its flavor. No matter what, it will race up and down the maze searching. Even if the mouse is shocked with electric current every time it eats the cheese, it may be traumatized, but presented with the opportunity, the mouse will still go after the cheese. Obsessed with getting the cheese, the mouse never seeks the exit out of the maze. A person caught in the maze of addiction is similar to the mouse in that the addict will continue to seek out the "cheese" (a metaphor for any addictive substance or behavior) in spite of negative feedback, no matter how punishing it becomes. Like the mouse looking for cheese, the addicted person will continue to run the maze, frantically searching for the next "reward" or fix. This has become a massive social problem.”http://drdonnamarks.comThe Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors. Judy Jean Kwon grew up in a Korean-American video store where she fell in love with the art of filmmaking and story-telling. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is a daughter of Korean immigrants. She split her time between Korea and America as a child and turned to the music and the arts. She started acting when she was 17. After 5 years of acting training, she went on to a successful commercial career, breaking the mold for Asian-American actors by taking on non-stereotypical roles. One of her first jobs was with Tarsem in the famous "Philip's flat TV" commercial where she proudly beat out over 300 Caucasian actors and landed the lead. She broke doors for ethnic actors and competed against non-Asian actresses. Unusual and uniquely beautiful, she went on to model for Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel, and acted in over 100 commercials. She played the lead in one of the first digital feature film to screen at Sundance Film Festival - "The Item".Kwon participated in the ABC's director fellowship, studied cinema at LACC, photography at Santa Monica College, and writing at UCLA.Kwon's mission is to give voice to the voiceless and tell stories of the underdogs that are ignored. She is passionate about women's rights and immigrant's stories.http://yomamarice.comDr. Donna MarksAmerica is addicted to… being addicted. S2, EP25: Justify My LoveMark and Kenny explore the not-so-seceret legacy behind the authorship of this head-spinning (and chapter turning) single which proved to be one of Madonna's greatest triumphs - and controversies. Topics include: INGRID CHAVEZ, Lenny Kravitz, Howard Stern, the return of Prince, unpacking in hotels, Tony Ward, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, “The Beast Within” Remix, SNL, Wayne & Garth, Jeanne Moreau, Wallis Franken, Herb Ritts, Forrest Sawyer, and the first game-changing collaboration Andre Betts. (S5, EP 1) As we wrap up #AAPIMonth and begin #PrideMonth Longtime dancer, artist and model Kevin Stea kicks things off as my 1st guest for this Season 5's "Our Becoming: An Asian LGBTQ experience" on The Banh Mi Chronicles Podcast. This interview was recorded in mid March right after the Atlanta shooting. Kevin is of biracial, mixed Chinese American descent who danced for Madonna's worldwide hit tour, "The Blond Ambition" in 1990. He would go on to perform as an actor, model, and choreographed for many other icons, and still dancing today. We talked about the disconnect he felt in not being able to connect to his Chinese heritage, and his father, also of Chinese descent, who was largely absent during his childhood. We discussed about what it meant being queer during the volatile AIDS / HIV crisis during the 80s and early 90s which wreaked havoc on the LGBTQ commmunity. I got Kevin to talk about his experience working with some of the biggest icons as a dancer / choreographer, and being in a white-led entertainment industry that was not very welcoming to Asian Americans. Check out Kevin on his IG @kevinstea or his FB at Kevin Stea /// Bio: After only 18 months of training, Kevin was hired as associate choreographer to legendary choreographer Vincent Paterson for Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour. He quickly became dance captain and dancer for the World Tour, for which both the movie “Madonna: Truth or Dare” and the video for “Vogue” were made, and performed in Madonna's iconic performance on the 1990 MTV Music Video Awards. Soon after, he was working with Gloria Estefan, Prince, and Michael Jackson, among others, as associate choreographer/dancer, and won the Grand Prize on the television show “Star Search.” He modeled for major designers like Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Tommy Hilfiger, Romeo Gigli and Exté, and worked with celebrity photographers David Lachapelle, Matthew Rolston, Peggy Sirota, Herb Ritts and Santo D'Orazio, at a time when Asians were not accepted in the industry. He has choreographed for other artists such as Britney Spears, Cher, David Bowie, Rihanna, Beyonce, Ricky Martin, among others. Kevin performed in movies such as Sister Act 2, as Daryl in Showgirls, as Swifty the Rake in Newsies and as Goldman Girl Yum Mee in The Birdcage, for which he won a SAG award. In 2016, he reunited with his fellow dancers from Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour for the critically-acclaimed documentary, "Strike A Pose." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/banhmichronicles/support

17. #TSPSP17 The Riker Brothers on Celebrity Clients, Directing Models, Shooting Quickly & Confidence on Set. The Riker Brothers (www.rikerbrothers.com | @rikerbrothers) Born in Iowa City and growing up in a small town west of Chicago, twin brothers Derek and Drew Riker were introduced to photography by their father who was always taking pictures. After graduating from the University of Illinois with degrees in Economics and both taking jobs in Chicago, they were left feeling unfulfilled in the business world. Their lives would change while on vacation in Miami Beach when they were scouted to be models. Their first assignment was shooting with Bruce Weber for L'Uomo Vogue and after two days on location immersed in that incredibly creative environment it was clear what their new career would be. Living between New York and Miami, over the next several years they became obsessed with fashion photography and imagery. They were lucky enough to learn from some of their idols, including Bruce Weber, Arthur Elgort, Patrick Demarchelier, and their close friend and mentor Herb Ritts. An emphasis on natural light allows them the freedom of movement and to be spontaneous. With one behind the camera to technically compose the other is free to connect directly with the subject giving them an amazing ability to capture authentic moments. The brothers are currently based in Los Angeles. Please enjoy!***If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcasts? On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck and Mark are joined by Antonio Sabato Jr. as they focus on the importance of faith and gratitude during dark times. They also get to hear more about some of Antonio’s latest work. Today’s show rundown: · Some insight into Antonio’s upcoming film · Antonio’s new book laying out his own “American Dream” · How God has Changed Antonio’s life · How some people take the opportunity to live in the United States for granted · Antonio’s long history of auto racing and how it shaped his life · Their thoughts on how our country will recover from the Coronavirus · The importance of believing in your faith during dark times · How gratitude can help anyone at their darkest times More about Antonio Sabato Jr.: Antonio Sabato Jr. once overlooked Time Square from a 90-foot billboard dressed only in his Calvin Klein underwear. The iconic fashion designer hired the actor to be the company’s first celebrity model since Mark Wahlberg and it was shot by famed photographer, Herb Ritts. That combination caused a sensation when the photos appeared in every magazine and hundreds of billboards throughout the world. His big break came, at the start of his career, when he was cast in the infamous Janet Jackson video “Love Will Never Do Without You,” shot by Herb Ritts. Everything started, however, when Antonio joined the cast of ABC’s General Hospital in the spring of 1992. The show jumped from seventh to third in the daytime Nielsen ratings. That same year, Antonio landed a coveted spot in People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” issue. Antonio reprised his famed General Hospital character, Jagger Cates on SoapNet’s Night Shift and also starred on the popular CBS daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful playing a role created specifically for him. Growing up in Rome, Since then, Antonio Sabato, Jr. has had a long and varied career which recently included starting in the upcoming film One Nation Under God, also guest-starring on roles on ABC’s, Castle, ABC Family’s Baby Daddy, as well as on Bones and Hot In Cleveland. He was seen in Investigation Discovery’s Heartbreakers, FX’s The League and you could tune in every weekday to see him host his own syndicated renovation show, Fix It & Finish It. The half hour program took viewers around the country to find homes, cabins, RV’s and even tree houses that needed a makeover both inside and out. Antonio and his team of contractors and designers went in and did their magic all in one day with renovation results that astounded and change lives. While shooting Fix It and Finish It, Antonio was asked to join the cast of Dancing With The Stars, anoffer he couldn’t refuse, so he was demolishing houses by day and dancing with pro-partner, Cheryl Burke by night. He managed to keep up a hectic schedule and delight fans of both shows with his dancing and handy household hints. IT REMEMBERS LITTLE THINGS, LONG AFTER YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING."Inspiriert durch großartige Fotografen wie Peter Lindbergh, Vincent Peters oder Herb Ritts fotografiere ich vorwiegend in Schwarzweiß und mit available Light.Mein Ziel ist es, Fotos entstehen zu lassen, die authentisch sind, die mutig und dennoch eine Subtilität und ein Gefühl vonZeitlosigkeit haben. http://www.selda-photography.com http://www.selda-photography.com/nature/ https://www.instagram.com/seldaphoto/?hl=de https://www.facebook.com/SeldaPhotography/

Troy Christopher Plota talks about the future of photography and how motion in our still images can set us apart from the competition. This episode is sponsored by: Skylum Luminar 3 - Simple and fast photo editing software http://bit.ly/PPN-Luminar3 and Marco Larousse Photography Workshops http://bit.ly/StreetPhotographyWorkshops Troy Christopher Plota is an award-winning photographer and director who has been shooting advertising and fashion campaigns for 30 years. His work was featured in top publications such as GQ, Vanity Fair and on billboards around the world. You may also have watched his Ted X talk or seen him works as a photographer for Heidi Klum on Germany’s Next Top Model TV show. In recent years he has shifted his focus to become a motion artist and has since created a software and online platform that can turn any photographer into a motion artist. Troy picked fashion photographer and director Herb Ritts (1952 - 2002 in LA, USA) as the PPN inspirational photographer of the month. Herb photographed many celebrities between the 1970s and 1990s amongst them were Madonna, Richard Gere, David Bowie, Ronald Reagan, and many more. But photography was not enough for him so he later directed music videos for stars like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Britney Spears. He was a true trailblazer as he was one of the first photographers to also produce videos for his clients. You can check out some of his images on his portfolio website: http://www.herbritts.com/#/archive/photo/ In the main part of the show, Troy and Marco discuss the topic: Is the future of photography in motion? How does Troy see the future of photography - especially for those photographers who make a living off this craft? The visual world mainly consists of still photos and videos - and many photographers have to offer both technologies to their clients today. Why did Troy think that the world needed something in between both technologies (Plotagraphs)? What is the purpose and advantage of a photo with motion? Where do plotagraphs work and what are the limitations? Do they only work on websites or can you use them on Instagram, Flickr, Linkedin and so on? If our listeners want to create a plotagraph, what do they have to do? Which images will work best for motion? What can you do when capturing the image to ensure that it’ll work for motion? Troy has created the Plotaverse. What is it and why is it necessary to have another social media platform? Here are the links to Troy Christopher Plota’s work and social media accounts: Website: https://plotaverse.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plotaverse/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/plotaverse/ Inspirational Photo Book Pick of the Month: “A different vision on fashion photography” - by Peter Lindbergh. The book is published by TASCHEN and it has 472 pages Amazon Germany: https://amzn.to/2SqffXg TASCHEN US: http://bit.ly/PLtaschen “Fashion photographers are the new painters” - Peter Lindbergh Peter Lindbergh’s image of five young models, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Tatjana Patitz, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington in downtown NY made the cover of the British Vogue in 1990 and it started a new trend in fashion photography and created a new understanding of female beauty. His black and white film images are raw and alluring. They show character, tell stories but are romantic at the same time. This triggered new ideas for the fashion and art world. After the high-gloss and make-up overkill era of the 1980s, - the back then fairly unknown Lindbergh chose a simple and natural “back to the roots” style with his images. And at first, he was turned down by magazines. But he was very persistent and eventually the new Zeitgeist and potential of this style was realized and created his breakthrough in 1990. Marco likes this book because it is a collection of 40 years of Lindbergh’s work and it shows the influence that he has had on the fashion industry. His grainy B&W images leave a lot of room for the character, the natural beauty and the soul of the model and turned the fashion that was advertised into a by-product or accessory in the background. According to Marco, this book should belong in any photo book collection. Pat McGrath has been a powerhouse player in the fashion and beauty industry for the past two decades. She is recognized as a creative genius makeup artist, responsible for some of the most iconic images of our time with photographers including Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel and others. Across social media and the industry at large, Mcgrath has maintained her powerhouse positioning as the mother of all things beauty with legions of apprentices, influencers, models and followers hanging on her every prescription. This week it was announced that McGrath sits atop a billion dollar business; in the two-year old beauty empire Pat McGrath Labs. The awesome valuation sent shockwaves through the industry, particularly because most of our attention in this space has been turned to brands like Kylie Cosmetics and Glossier. In this age of massive beauty fortunes being built on a single personality, McGrath would seem an obvious choice to ride this road to success. So why the surprise? Why has the industry been sleeping on Pat McGrath?

A “celebrity photographer who also photographs celebrities”, Russel Wong is one of the most profiled photographers in Singapore and Asia. He enjoys the acclaim of being the first Singaporean to break into the notoriously difficult Hollywood movie industry, and is also among the elite photographers commissioned to photograph covers for Time magazine. From his beginnings in sports photography covering world record miler Sebastian Coe, Russel went on to carry out coveted photographic work for Nike, capturing luminaries including Carl Lewis, Mary Decker and John McEnroe. A Fine Arts degree in Photography from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles followed, and it was then that Russel began to establish a name for himself in international fashion photography, working for the world-renown Elite Modeling Agency. His celebrity fashion spreads for the Los Angeles Times opened the door to working with top celebrities like Joan Chen, Isabella Rossellini, Oliver Stone, Paloma Picasso, Michael Jackson, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Glenn Close, David Lynch, Bruce Willis, and Jackie Chan. In developing a signature style amidst this highly competitive culture of fashion photography, Russel strove to distinguish his work by re-defining and re-styling the images of these glamorous figures with greater depth, texture and imagination. Supermodels, designers and musicians soon populated his portfolio – Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valetta, Kenzo, Anna Sui, Yo Yo Ma, and Luciano Pavarotti. The establishment of his photographic studio in Singapore in 1989 brought in accounts with Raffles Hotel, Singapore Airlines, Cartier, American Express, Nike, British Airways, Sony, Visa, Compaq, Four Seasons Hotel, Nokia, The Ritz Carlton Hotel, the Development Bank of Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board, Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore Telecoms and Apple. Meanwhile, the success of his commercial work also began to draw the attention of leading publications, which all sought Russel's work to grace their covers. These include the debut cover of Vogue Singapore, and international covers for Time, Fortune, Elle, GQ, Marie Claire, New York Times and Los Angeles Times. The allure and acclaim of Russel's work draws from his ability to infuse his commercial accounts with creative elements, combined with a sensitive, thoughtful take on his subjects. This is clearly in the vein of the photographers he admires and appreciates – Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and Herb Ritts. Such balance and versatility may be seen in Russel's work photographing stories and fashion spreads for movie sets, such as Oliver Stone's Heaven and Earth, and publicity shoots for Lee Ang's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Zhang Yimou's Hero and House of Flying Daggers, as well as portraits of Asian movie starts like Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fatt, Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi. Russel's latest work in filmmaking has also been an impactful one, having recently attended the prestigious New York University Film Program, and with plans underway for directing his first feature film. To date, he has directed numerous award-winning commercials, from a Breast Cancer spot that earned him a CLIO award – the advertising industry's Oscar equivalent – to commercials for Discovery Channel featuring Joan Chen, Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung. Also referred to as “The Richard Avedon of Asia” by many, he was recently commissioned to photograph a set of portraits for the Prime Minister of Singapore. Today, Russel's photography continues to make its mark both regionally and internationally. In its millennium issue, a top regional magazine voted Russel as one of the Asians to look out for in the next millennium. He is the first Singaporean photographer to have a solo exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum (Russel Wong: 1980 – 2005), and also the first and only photographer to be invited for the art residency at the renowned Singapore Tyler Print Institute. In addition, his art works can be found in public and private collections, with his “Bamboo Forest” print going for a record US$40,000 at a recent Christies auction in Hong Kong. Russel is one of the extraordinary guests featured on The One Way Ticket Show. It’s vital that you develop your own photographic style. When you’re an emerging photographer, you can spend a lot of time trying to create the “look” that your client wants (and that’s ok!). But you also need to devote time to creating and nurturing your own style. In this episode, Gina and Valerie discuss the steps you need to take in order to discover the signature style that you can call your own, whether that’s glamour, grit - or anything in between. Photographers like Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon and even Anne Geddes all have an iconic style that can be recognised anywhere. That can happen to you too. Let's just get right to it: In this week's episode, Julie RANKS FRUIT. Listen to this provocative and controversial ranking of the top 30 fruits in her life and weep! Also, MATT BERMAN is here to talk to us about his new book, JFK Jr., George, & Me. Enjoy the unique POV of Camelot through the eyes of the art director of George Magazine and, in the process, enjoy the chat about: what the 90s were like, how blue Carolyn Bessette's eyes were, the time Barbara Walters AND Barbra Streisand were both difficult cover models if you can believe it, and how once Herb Ritts thought it was funny to stuff a sock in Cindy Crawford's pants. Plus: Mario Lopez's slippery food slope now that his shoulder has been injured! A serial killer's way with lotion on patients! Nana, from Peter Pan, and how her arc is more important than the casting of its lead! And a man on the street who thought Julie was pregnant and expressed as much. Also! I can't emphasize this enough: FRUIT WILL BE RANKED IN THIS EPISODE.
