JB finally gets the comeback fans have been waiting for, and one longtime radio staple proves he can still pull off a ridiculous superpower: identifying cars by horn alone. If you love Austin nostalgia, fast laughs, and the kind of live radio chaos that actually feels alive, this one's built for you.Sandy, JB, and Tricia kick things off with the day's Minute to Win It answers, then slide into the stuff that makes their show feel like a local hangout - eyebrow maintenance wars, a legendary family goatee, and Tricia's priceless reaction to a “cow bras” joke that lands just weird enough to work. From there, Care Don't Care delivers the kind of offbeat headlines that turn into full-blown bits, including Austin landing at the top of a list nobody expected and a carnival scam so brazen it earns a new nickname: the old razzle dazzle. You'll discover:Why Austin has the cheapest cheeseburger combo in the country, and why that still feels expensiveHow a rigged carnival game managed to soak one player for $650How Gen Z has repurposed “LARPing” into a perfect insult for fake behavior onlineWhy the return of Katz's Deli downtown hits so hard for Austin localsThen the show pivots into pure listener participation as JB takes on his long-dormant car-by-horn challenge, and somehow nails Lexus after Lexus before calling out a Mercedes like he never stopped. If you've ever wondered whether a bit from a morning show can still shock the room years later, this is the proof. It all lands with comedy legend Jim Gaffigan on hotel indoor pools, plus a feel-good shout-out to retired Navy instructors on the first day of school. Perfect for anyone who misses old Austin, loves live local radio, or just wants 30-plus minutes of smart, silly, unmistakably human entertainment.

Austin's counterculture is still the ethos. The next chapter is what gets built on top of it. Karen Blashek, the editor-in-chief of Austin Home Magazine, took over a 21-year-old design publication with no editorial background and turned it into one of the city's most consequential platforms for naming what's already happening. We ask why Austin's design talent operates one neighborhood away from its tech talent and neither knows the other exists. What's driving Austin's economic boom — and can it keep up with its own success? In this episode of Texas Talks, host Brad Swail sits down with Jeremy Martin, President and CEO of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, to break down the forces shaping one of the fastest-growing regional economies in the country. From explosive population growth to major infrastructure projects, Austin continues to punch above its weight — but that growth comes with real challenges for businesses, workers, and policymakers alike. Martin shares his perspective from nearly two decades of experience representing Central Texas businesses, explaining how Austin has evolved into a hub for innovation, talent, and global investment. The conversation covers: • Why Austin and Central Texas continue to outperform the national economy • The role of talent, universities, and quality of life in driving growth • How Texas' business-friendly climate attracts companies and investment • The infrastructure boom reshaping Austin (airport expansion, I-35, transit) • Housing affordability and the long-term impact of rapid population growth • The biggest cost pressures facing businesses today • How the Austin Chamber represents over 1,900 businesses across industries • The balance between growth, regulation, and fiscal responsibility • Why property taxes remain a key issue for Texas businesses • The role of local, state, and federal policy in supporting economic growth The episode also dives into emerging issues shaping the future of business in Texas — including the rise of AI, data centers, and the growing demand for energy and water resources. Martin emphasizes the importance of “taking care of the basics” — infrastructure, water, energy, and workforce — as the foundation for long-term economic success. Looking ahead, the focus is on maintaining Texas' competitive edge while ensuring growth remains sustainable and beneficial for both businesses and residents. The takeaway: Austin's success story is far from over — but staying ahead will require smart policy, continued investment, and a clear vision for the future. 00:00 — Intro + Jeremy Martin joins 08:15 — Austin's economy and growth drivers 13:08 — Infrastructure challenges and major projects 14:03 — Housing affordability and market trends 16:01 — Role of the Austin Chamber of Commerce 18:20 — Business advocacy and policy priorities 20:58 — Taxes, spending, and Proposition Q 23:21 — Water, energy, and long-term planning 24:19 — Data centers, AI, and resource demands 27:18 — Texas competitiveness and regional growth 29:24 — Property taxes and business impact 31:01 — Federal advocacy and D.C. priorities 33:35 — Airport expansion and global connectivity 36:05 — AI's impact on business and policy 41:31 — Closing thoughts Watch Full-Length Interviews: https://www.youtube.com/@TexasTalks

In this episode, Chris sits down with Austin Tunnell, founder of Building Culture - a real estate development and design-build company based in Oklahoma City specializing in structural masonry construction and walkable, mixed-use urban infill. Austin's path to real estate is one of the more unusual ones we've had on the show. He grew up a football player in the suburbs of Houston, went to work at KPMG out of college, hated it, and joined the Peace Corps. A chance meeting with a master mason in Panama changed the trajectory of his life. He returned to the US and apprenticed for two years laying brick by hand for $12 an hour in rural Oklahoma while his wife cleaned houses to support them. Today Austin designs and develops some of the most beautiful residential and mixed-use projects being built in America, including an 18-townhome, live-work, and mixed-use commercial project currently underway in downtown Edmond, Oklahoma. Chris and Austin go deep on Austin's philosophy of beauty, the case for building things meant to last hundreds of years, and the policy, financing, and culture obstacles standing in the way. We discuss: - How a chance meeting with a master mason in Panama changed the trajectory of Austin's life - The difference between veneer brick and true structural masonry, and why almost no one in the US builds the real thing anymore - Why Austin believes beauty is real, beauty is important, and beauty "connects us to the divine" - Five simple brick details any developer can use to make a veneer building look dramatically better for almost no added cost - How fire codes, building codes, and Euclidean zoning quietly destroy neighborhoods and push developers toward the same ugly apartment complexes - Austin's long-term-hold model for funding new construction infill, inspired by Moses Kagan and ReSeed - Missing middle housing, walkability, and why a 30-unit townhome neighborhood can feel more like home than any class-A apartment building About the guest: Austin Tunnell is the founder of Building Culture, an Oklahoma City-based real estate development and design-build firm focused on beautiful, durable, human-scale neighborhoods. Most founders dream of selling their company once. John Arrow sold the same company twice. He bootstrapped a mobile product development firm (Mutual Mobile) in college, scaled it to 300 people, and pushed nearly $50M a year in revenue. But the real unlock came from one bold decision: moving upstream into enterprise clients. Prior to that, his model was unsustainable. He and his co-founders made the decision to fire all of their customers and only work with companies with a spend of at least $1M/year. That's when their company took off.  In this episode, John breaks down the decisions that unlocked explosive growth, the typical traps most founders never see coming, and why selling a services company is far more about timing and terms than topline revenue.  You'll hear why he and his co-founders turned down a $100M offer, the minority deal that allowed him to take chips off the table, and how John was able to come back as CEO years later to orchestrate an 8-figure exit.   Key Takeaways 00:00 Intro 01:05 How He Started & Scaled Mutual Mobile 02:55 Why Shifting to Enterprise Clients Changed Everything 07:48 What Uber Taught Him About Testing Ideas Fast 09:34 The Pros & Cons of Using AI and No-Code to Prototype 11:04 The Life-or-Death App That Validated Their Model 14:20 How Mutual Mobile Found Its Identity Along the Way 16:47 The 2nd Dumbest iPhone App of All Time 20:22 An Unusual That Attracted Enterprise Deals 24:56 Why Austin's Tech Scene is a Recruiting Goldmine 29:22 The Real Economics of Owning a Private Plane 44:47 How He Ended Up Selling the Same Company Twice 53:06 The Earnout Terms That Actually Matter 55:43 Creating AI Software with Zero Censorship 57:42 Why Operators Make Better Investors 58:57 When (And When Not To) Invest in Side Ventures 01:01:50 John's Advice for Entrepreneurs in the AI Era     Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zHnqoPxen0k      Let's Connect: Website | Instagram | YouTube | TikTok | Twitter | Facebook

Is this a warning or a blip?  Also, could a flood of DAT issuance be setting the stage for not just a crypto winter, but a crypto “nuclear” winter? If so, hedge funds and market structure could accelerate the pain.  This week on Bits + Bips, Steven Ehrlich, Ram Ahluwalia, Austin Campbell, and Vinny Lingham talk about why mNAVs could compress and whether even MicroStrategy's stack is more fragile than it looks.  They debate the bull case for gold (yes, even at these ATHs), how tokenized stocks and changing reporting cadences could open new insider edges, and what the U.S. macro picture looks like.  Thank you to our sponsors! Austin Tarzan is known for living what he teaches. As the founder of Organic Jaguar, he's created a line of products — from hair care and deodorant to shower filters and organic cotton boxers — that prove clean living can actually be done right. But his impact extends far beyond products. Austin has become a powerful voice for a generation of men ready to reclaim their health, their strength, and their sense of purpose. A former Marine, he blends discipline with holistic wisdom, challenging the noise in the wellness industry and reminding people that true health is both physical and emotional. He talks openly about inner work, therapy, and how emotional wellness is not about weakness — it's about becoming a more grounded, resilient man. In this episode, we dive into: Why Austin is almost always barefoot, and what grounding does for the body How sunlight and circadian rhythm practices can radically shift energy, sleep, and hormones The testosterone crisis: why men are struggling and how to reverse it The impact of porn and dopamine on men's health and relationships Why emotional wellness and inner work are vital for men — and how it builds strength, not weakness The truth about toxins: fragrances, phthalates, synthetic fibers, and hidden disruptors How he approaches red light therapy and other biohacking tools — what works and what's just hype What “holistic living” really looks like beyond products His long-term mission with Organic Jaguar and the community he's building This is a raw and honest conversation about health, discipline, masculinity, and the kind of grounded lifestyle that can change the trajectory of an entire generation. A debate has been heating up on crypto Twitter about Real Economic Value (REV) — a metric meant to measure the value blockchains accrue from user activity. REV includes transaction fees and MEV tips, but excludes issuance — the inflationary rewards paid to validators. Some say it's the clearest window into genuine usage. Others argue it's a flawed and misleading proxy. So we brought the argument to Unchained. Tom Dunleavy, Head of Venture at Varys Capital, says fees are headed to zero, and blockchains shouldn't be valued like companies. Meanwhile, Austin Federa, Co-founder of DoubleZero, believes REV offers a real lens on activity, maturity, and demand.
