Robert and I were having a conversation a few days before…  He'd had some stressors in his life.  Job change, dad passing, kid issues.  Talking about life as A Type'ish dads and then things can go sideways.   And I thought we need to record an episode.In part 3 Robert graciously tells us about the battle with his son and their ultimate redemption.  And he gives you his top points that he wants you to know…Episode notes:Another cool thing you had fallen into.  On the fly you had fallen into this guys group for support.  “Shit that dads have to go through”.  It is difficult as a man to have interpersonal relationships with other men and for them to be real.  Most of those conversations tend to be topical…  I.e. show no feelings or emotions, or you're weak.…it was a group of fathers that I originally met through cub scouts.   Once per month.  It started as networking.  All brought some form of faith.  we've been doing it for 10 years.  We share our struggles.  They were the first group of people that I shared my struggles with.  It was very powerful.  The support that came from them was incredible.  It is unique that I have this group…  As parents as dads we all go through so much stuff in our life.  And we tend not to share it.  And then all of a sudden here's this group.  It's like we all are suffering or our journeys have these similar elements that we can work with another…    I hadn't shared for a year about all my losses…  And then to have so much support coming in.  Even knowing it was the right thing to do and the safest possible place to be vulnerable and I was still reluctant to do it.  Robert discovers religion late.  He went through RCIA to become a catholic.  I was taught to never pray for “things”.  But pray to be shown the path.  I'm going to pray for gods plan for you.   I'm a big believer in the long version of the serenity prayer.  Not only do we not know what the hell's going on, we shouldn't even fool ourselves that we know what the hell is going on.  We should be grateful that god is guiding us.  Just trust.  Just trust.  “My goal is to just be reasonably happy”.  To be able to teach us that kids too.  His list that he wants you to know:For other spouses:  Understand that love is a verb.  Love is something you do for your spouse.  Just act on it.For dads:  Connect with your kids at their level.  Physically, emotionally, and academically.  “I always watched cartons with my kids.”For son's: Visit or call your mom or dad as much or possible.For acceptance: Live the serenity prayer.  Truly understanding what we have control over and not fighting that.  The key part of wisdom is experience.We have to be free of anger.You never too important to be nice for people.  In my travels you interface with so many levels of people…   They are all awesome.  There is no reason to ever be not pleasant.The courtesy wave!  Is so powerful.  The smiling.  It's so important.  I would be remiss if I didn't ask you about you and your son's experience with the wilderness therapy…I'm here for you, I'm gonna listen, I'm not gonna yell anymore…  I poured my guts out.  His response “Are you done…”  He couldn't respond.  They were at a point that they didn't know what to do…  The Wilderness Experience strips them of everything except food clothing and shelter…  He spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in the desert…  (Sadness and love pours out at this point)…  It was a gift from god.  We needed to get him there we were worried for our safety and his safety.  We had to hire a couple guys to come out and “Transport” him.  And that's… you know… you worry about that.  He was literally rousted in the middle of the night.  “Escort services” he called it.  That was the hardest decision as a parent as a father that I ever had to make…  Divine events allowed him in.  “Transport services”.  How do you pray for that?  …All of the contributors that exist for that type of behavior didn't exist in this particular place.Email Robert at: robertjohnpeterson@gmail.comStart podcasting!  Get the Shure MV88 mobile mic, you can literally take it anywhere on the fly https://amzn.to/2Mnba3QAccess my “Insiders Guide to Finding Peace” here: https://belove.media/peace    See more resources at https://belove.media/resources.   Email me: contact@belove.media   For social Media:      https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/  https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzov     Subscribe and share to help spread the love for a better world!As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Robert and I were having a conversation a few days before…  He'd had some stressors in his life.  Job change, dad passing, kid issues.  Talking about life as A Type'ish dads and then things can go sideways.   And I thought we need to record an episode.In part two Robert sheds some emotions and his daughter begins to heal.Episode notes:4 kids 2 shiny 2 troubled.  21, 20, 18, 16.  Boy girl boy girl.  And I'm gonna say that they are all shiny.  I wouldn't say troubled.  I would say “needing a little help on their journey”.  Some journeys are a little more traditional from a societal standpoint and some are not.he did college.  Took him to 30 till he graduated.  Speaking of his kids brings tears of love to his eyes.  He has a really geeky household.  All his kids did well in school.  All can recite 100 digits of Pie lol.  One son get's his welding cert when he was 14.  His daughter who is 16 an incredible student and a gifted artist.Goal to have all kids be self sufficient…  The last two kids just needed a little encouragement in their journey.  Which brings up his thoughts of where did he fail, “what did I do wrong.”As a parents, as a family, they have had this full arc of experience.Truly accepting what the they want for their path (his kids) and excepting that.  So you're turning 18, I hear you want to drop out…  Ok lets do this.  It's the realization that you don't have the skills to help your kids anymore (once they hit a certain age).  I feel worthless…  My son is struggling and my daughter…  It's like…  How can I not help them,  how can I just not sit down with them now and help them.  (The feelings bring robert to some tears).  This is where we need other people to come in and we have to trust the professionals.  And be a part of it.  And recognize we can't do this alone.  “You feel like you're giving up”.It's beautiful looking back to see how great my son is doing and I'm hopeful that will be the same for my daughters journey.  She has more good moments now than bad moments…Our number one job as a parent is to keep our kids safe.  I just never thought it would be keeping them safe from themselves.  I lost my dad, I lost my mentor of 15 years, my mom moved away…  I literally thought I was gonna loose my shit a couple times…  It was great to have a wife who is so strong.  And she would just hold me.Being open and sharing has been really helpful.  There are so many parents who are going through similar things.  This suicidality is not unique today.  Unfortunately it is front and center with a lot of these young kids.  We just have to get down to their level and work with them on it.In any age group she was volunteering…  There weren't any signs of this.  We were just shocked.  She has always been the most charming person in our household hands down.  Outside appearances were she's just amazing…  So when this started to happen…  She literally went to the darkest place possible.  “I'm just waiting until I get a chance to do this again”.  “I know I'm not gonna live older than 18…”  To see that then and now in her journey where she's gots moments she wants to live she wants to go to college.  And her dog.  There are times where she still doesn't want to be here.  That's the part I don't understand.  I've got to let go, bring in the right people.  It's a long journey.  She's not broken, there's nothing to fix.  Accept her right where she is for now.  …years ago I would have dismissed it as like just get over it.  Let me get a bigger boot and kick  you in the ass…  etc.I have a new compassion for other parents.  Your mind is cable of directing you in a place that's really dark…Inherently we live in a society where we stack things, where we rank things…  There is so little in this world that we have any control over.  Right now just be present.  Each of my children has a different path.  At the end of the day every moment is unique.Email Robert at: robertjohnpeterson@gmail.comStart podcasting!  Get the Shure MV88 mobile mic, you can literally take it anywhere on the fly https://amzn.to/2Mnba3QAccess my “Insiders Guide to Finding Peace” here: https://belove.media/peace    See more resources at https://belove.media/resources.   Email me: contact@belove.media   For social Media:      https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/  https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzov     Subscribe and share to help spread the love for a better world!As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Mallory Fox is a doctor of health science with dual master degrees in health science and kinesiology. A native Arizonan, she excelled in competitive swimming, which led her to work in the health and fitness industry 15 years ago. Mallory worked as a personal trainer, in management, and finally started her own business, Foxy FIT, in 2013. Her mission is to help people move better, so that they can feel better and live better. Mallory and her husband Brian are ambassadors at Lululemon in the Scottsdale Quarter, where they enjoy leading community events and charity work through their pop-up yoga community, Baptiste Power Yoga Phoenix. Mallory is passionate about resilience because after she was rear- ended in 2018 she was diagnosed with a concussion and brain stem trauma that resulted in her brain "shutting off" and she became legally blind in her left eye within 10 weeks of the accident. Mallory eventually recovered with support from others in her community who could understand, empathize, or just believe in her. Romy Wightman is the founder of Wight Horse, a non- profit focused on helping individuals manage their medical debt. Romy has always been very familiar with how medical insurance works due to her career for 25 years in Employee Benefits. Then, her two worlds collided and Romy experienced the other side of the industry when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Romy's illness caused financial hardship, large medical debt, and even forced her and her family to sell their home and downsize in order to even try to climb out of a mountain of debt. Romy had a great job, good insurance, and had a savings in place. Her and her family had done everything right, but the medical bills kept coming and did not stop. Wight Horse was founded in order to provide support to others in medical debt to relieve some of the burden and help lower the bills. On today's episode of Gruler Nation we are joined by Kimberly Verbeke. Kimberly are her husband are the owners of De Novo Cryo & Wellness Spa located in Scottsdale, Arizona. They opened their first wellness spa three and a half years ago located in Texas, before expanding to Arizona. Both of their wellness spas focus on anti- aging, healthy hormone function, and sports recovery. Kimberly is a former endurance athlete that ended up getting very sick and experienced severe hormone dysfunction. This lead Kimberly to use cold therapy among other alternative therapies for a different type of recovery. She is a Certified Health Coach through the Institute of Integrated Nutrition and is currently pursuing a degree to become a Naturopathic Physician. Eric became educated in this field of work by the United States Marine Corps when Eric was assigned to The Presidential Security Unit known as Marine One, the Helicopter Squadron, under George W.
