MLOps Coffee Sessions #178 with LLMs in Production Conference part 2 LLM on K8s Panel, Manjot Pahwa, Rahul Parundekar, and Patrick Barker hosted by Outerbounds, Inc.'s Shrinand Javadekar. // Abstract Large Language Models require a new set of tools... or do they? K8s is a beast and we like it that way. How can we best leverage all the battle-hardened tech that K8s has to offer to make sure that our LLMs go brrrrrrr. Let's talk about it in this chat. // Bio Shrinand Javadekar Shri Javadekar is currently an engineer at Outerbounds, focussed on building a fully managed, large-scale platform for running data-intensive ML/AI workloads. Earlier, he spent time trying to start an MLOps company for which he was a co-founder and head of engineering. He led the design, development, and operations of Kubernetes-based infrastructure at Intuit, running thousands of applications, built by hundreds of teams and transacting billions of $$. He has been a founding engineer of the Argo open-source project and also spent precious time at multiple startups that were acquired by large organizations like EMC/Dell and VMWare. Manjot Pahwa Manjot is an investor at Lightspeed India and focuses on SaaS and enterprise tech. She has had an operating career of over a decade within the space of fintech, SaaS, and developer tools spanning various geos such as the US, Singapore, and India. Before joining Lightspeed, Manjot headed Stripe in India, successfully obtaining the payment aggregator license, growing the team from ~10 to 100+, and driving acquisitions in the region during that time. Rahul Parundekar Rahul has 13+ years of experience building AI solutions and leading teams. He is passionate about building Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) solutions for improving the Human Experience. He is currently the founder of A.I. Hero - a platform to help you fix and enrich your data with ML. At AI Hero, he has also been a big proponent of declarative MLOps - using Kubernetes to operationalize the training and serving lifecycle of ML models and has published several tutorials on his Medium blog. Before AI Hero, he was the Director of Data Science (ML Engineering) at Figure-Eight (acquired by Appen), a data annotation company, where he built out a data pipeline and ML model serving architecture serving 36 models (NLP, Computer Vision, Audio, etc.) and traffic of up to 1M predictions per day. Patrick Barker Patrick started his career in Big Data back when that was cool, then moved into Kubernetes near its inception. He has put major features into the Kubernetes API and built several platforms on top of it. In recent years he has moved into AI, with a focus on distributed machine learning. He is now working with a startup to reshape the world of AI agents. // MLOps Jobs board https://mlops.pallet.xyz/jobs // MLOps Swag/Merch https://mlops-community.myshopify.com/ // Related Links Website: https://www.angellist.com/venture/relay Foundation by Isaac Asimov: https://www.amazon.com/Foundation-Isaac-Asimov/dp/0553293354 AngelList Relay blog: https://www.angellist.com/blog/introducing-angellist-relay --------------- ✌️Connect With Us ✌️ ------------- Join our slack community: https://go.mlops.community/slack Follow us on Twitter: @mlopscommunity Sign up for the next meetup: https://go.mlops.community/register Catch all episodes, blogs, newsletters, and more: https://mlops.community/ Connect with Demetrios on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dpbrinkm/ Connect with Shri on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shrijavadekar/ Connect with Manjot on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/manjotpahwa/ Connect with Rahul on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rparundekar/ Connect with Patrick on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrickbarkerco/

The Math Doesn't Add Up for Young Max, Who Has Dyscalculia. Figure Eight is an insightful book for young readers that tells the story of why Max can't do math as easily as his friends. At 11 years old, Max is struggling in school because the numbers he sees in class get all jumbled up in his head. He explains: “An eighty-one might look like an eighteen to me like they were switched at birth. I'm sure you get it by now. I am numerically challenged. I have dyscalculia, a disorder that (they tell me) means I have a problem grasping numbers. Sometimes they slip from my mind like water from a sieve, and somehow, I am just left with a gaping hole.” Max's middle school friends meet to help each other solve their individual problems. Eric has dyslexia, which makes it hard for him to read or interpret words because the letters get mixed up in his brain. It's the same thing for Max, except for him it's with numbers. This realistic book shows what caring people can do to help each other through their challenges.

Since Insider Interviews is about giving you the “insider's scoop” on media and marketing, who better to give us the scoop than the CMO of Museum of Ice Cream, Erin Levzow? In today's world, we're often so focused on work, responsibilities, and obligations that we forget to take time to have fun and experience joy. Levzow explains how MOIC became an in-demand destination for reconnecting with your inner child, or with your children, and eat ice cream while doing it! Learn from someone whose job it is to market fun about why joy is so important, mentally and physically. And learn how just raising your hand can spark success. Levzow, whose years of experience marketing everything from Caesars to Del Taco have earned her scores of awards, explains how the museum, under the Figure Eight umbrella, was created by Maryellis Bunn, another inspiring woman who wouldn't take no for an answer: If that sounds childish, well, Bunn had the last laugh, with lines around the block on any given day. Levzow was cut from similar cloth, even citing a favorite book about improv that preaches the power of saying “Yes, and.” The plucky CMO explains how she applied “yes” throughout her career, even at times when she didn't “know.” Moss with panelists: Kaye, OK Cupid, Levzow, MOIC, Benders, B Code Media, Bethea, Danone Levzow's route to this C-suite, a year after winning a “40 Under 40” award, started by first saying yes to half a dozen different gigs and residing in as many states, often with toddlers in tow. She describes her leadership philosophy and how she guides teams with her brand of can-do motivation. She also mentions her love of dance and ballroom competitions. What she doesn't mention is the personal hurdle she survived just after landing her Museum of Ice Cream role: her husband took a near fatal fall in their home and was actually pronounced dead three times before making it out of ICU. Through it all, Levzow applied her own can-do attitude to him – and to her own spirit – always believing and encouraging he would not just walk again, but thrive. As a post-note, she recently shared a video of his first time back on the dance floor six months later, if a halting version of the Rumba. That was joy. Here's a topline of our conversation flow: 00:1:55 What's an “experium”? How and why this combo museum and experience center unites and inspires throughout the entire MoIC portfolio, down to the marketing 00:03:43 On the importance of experiencing joy together. 00:05:05 How a banana forest can lead to mental and physical health. “We want people to set their phones down and look at each other and play together.”... And what dopamine means to the brand. 00:09:00 The personal side: Dancing during her downtime and working her way to the C-Suite 00:11:12 Career experience and advice based on “Figure it out, volunteer, and learn it.” 00:15:30 How a brick and mortar got built, survived and thrived: “Coming out of the pandemic people really needed connection. We welcome everyone and attract a lot of families and young adults (on a date night), as well as tourists.” 00:18:46 Using data to “target for good” not evil: “People don't mind giving as long as they're receiving something in return.... A company that sells ice cream, let's say (!), can target mothers with children who may be looking for something to do during vacation time. By showing them ads for this idea, we could help them bond with their children and provide an enjoyable experience. Data-driven targeting can also be used to target tourists who may be visiting a certain area, helping them have a great experience while visiting the area.” 00:20:20 The media methodology for Museum of Ice Cream (a la podcasting?!) “We do keep an eye on what's emerging but ...we're very particular about where we spend our time because it is about resources. You can't be everything to everyone, even though everyone is welcome... and we are an immersive brand,

Big Data is overrated. We don't need more volume — we need more diversity We can do more with less. And someone finally needed to say it. That someone is Jennifer Prendki, Founder and CEO at Alectio , the world's first Data Prep Ops platform. Before that she held senior leadership positions in data science and machine learning at Figure Eight, Atlassian, Walmartlabs among others. She also has a PhD in particle physics, from Sorbonne in Paris, which greatly influenced her belief that we can move away from the brute force of Big Data into the precision of Smart Data. In this episode, we discuss: Transitioning from particle physics to entrepreneurship How to do more with less data Why Big Data is overrated (and why we should strive for Smart Data, instead) How principles of human learning apply to machine learning How to tackle Big Data using automated data curation The economics of machine learning The ins and outs of Data Prep Ops If you want to hear more, subscribe to Leading with Data on Apple Podcasts , Spotify , or here . Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Monday, July 19, 2021. This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us. (STINGER: WWE) John Cena is back in WWE...and he's being promoted for tonight's Raw. (Cena Return To Raw) That clip from WWE.com. Raw is LIVE tonight in Dallas. The first Raw in front of live fans since March of LAST YEAR. Cena's long-expected return to WWE finally happened last night. He emerged at the very end of Money In The Bank to confront Roman Reigns. Cena didn't speak on the mic during the broadcast...but I think we can all guess where this is heading. Reigns had just pinned Edge with Spear to retain the Universal Championship. He got a big assist from Seth Rollins. Big E won the men's Money In The Bank ladder match...after dropping Rollins with a Big Ending from the top of the ladder. Nikki Cross - or Nikki ASH - won the women's Money In The Bank match. Charlotte Flair is once again the Raw Women's Champion. She submitted Rhea Ripley with the Figure Eight. Bobby Lashley submitted Kofi Kingston with the Hurt Lock to retain the WWE Championship in a relatively brief match. AJ Styles & Omos beat the Viking Raiders to retain the Raw Tag Team Titles. The Usos are once again the SmackDown Tag Champs. They dethroned Rey & Dominik Mysterio on last night's kickoff show. (STINGER: Impact) What is Jay White doing in the Impact Zone? That's the big question coming out of Saturday night's Slammiversary pay per view. White made his entrance at the very end of the show...right after Kenny Omega had beaten Sami Callihan to retain the Impact World Championship. White stepped inside the ring with Omega, Don Callis and the Good Brothers...but his allegiances were not made clear. White was not the only surprise at Slammiversary. The surprise challenger to Knockouts Champ Deonna Purrazzo was...Thunder Rosa. Purrazzo managed to prevail - pinning Rosa with the Queen's Gambit. Mickie James was out after the match to confront Purrazzo...and then lay her out with a superkick. Chelsea Green returned to Impact as Matt Cardona's surprise partner...and together they beat Brian Myers and Tenille Dashwood. Green pinned Dashwood. Juice Robinson & David Finlay returned to Impact...and beat Shera & Madman Fulton in an impromptu match. Fallah Bahh's surprise partner for the 4-Way Tag Title Match was the former No Way Jose - introduced simply as “No Way”. The Good Brothers won the 4-Way...pinning Rhino with a Magic Killer to take the belts from Violent By Design. Josh Alexander won the Ultimate X Match to retain the X Division Championship. Chris Sabin upset Moose. He caught him in a Victory Roll for the pin. W. Morrissey beat Eddie Edwards… And on the pre-show...Rosemary & Havok beat Fire n' Flava to win the Knockouts Tag Titles. Slammiversary also included a mysterious hype video that featured a sign that simply read, “Long live the Drama King”. Impact's next pay per view is Bound For Glory on October 23rd. Before that there will be the Impact Plus exclusive Homecoming show on July 31st. Impact is promising to crown a Homecoming King and Queen at that show! (STINGER: AEW) At least 12 matches are announced for tonight's AEW Dark: Elevation…including a battle of unbeatens. Brock Anderson tags with Lee Johnson against Billy & Colten Gunn. BOTH Brock Anderson and Colten Gunn have yet to taste defeat in a non-Battle Royale match in AEW. Also tonight...Red Velvet vs. Julia Hart...Penta El Zero Miedo & Eddie Kingston vs. JD Drake & Cezar Bononi...and Tay Conti & Serena Deeb team up for a tag match against VertVixen & Jazmin Allure. (STINGER: New Japan) Kota Ibushi's recent illness will cause him to miss another show for New Japan on Monday. That show is NOT being broadcast on New Japan World. On Saturday's Summer Struggle show...Ryusuke Taguchi pinned Taiji Ishimori with a rollup...and Rocky Romero and El Phantasmo wrestled to a 30-minute draw. Unagi Sayaka is the new Future of STARDOM Champion. She dethroned Mina Shirakawa over the weekend. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Monday, July 19. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, April 20, 2021. A special welcome to those of you listening on OccupyProWrestling.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: WWE) Tonight's NXT is promoting the in-ring debut of the brand's latest Japanese import - Sarray. Also, Kyle O'Reilly is set to appear live for the first time since his win over Adam Cole at TakeOver. Plus, LA Knight vs. Dexter Lumis...and a Championship Celebration for the new Cruiserweight Champ Kushida. Asuka pinned Charlotte Flair in the main event of last night's Raw. Flair got into a tussle with Raw Women's Champ Rhea Ripley after Ripley reached into the ring to break up the Figure Eight. That left Flair open for a crucifix pin by Asuka. Flair was REALLY upset after the match...and beat up the referee. The consequences for those actions were revealed on Raw Talk. (Woods Reports Charlotte Suspension) Xavier Woods delivering the news on last night's Raw Talk. WWE spent all weekend promoting a first-time-ever match between Randy Orton and Braun Strowman for last night's Raw - but that match never happened. Instead, we got Orton vs. Riddle...and it was Riddle getting the upset win - reversing the RKO into a rollup to get the pin. As for Strowman, he came out to rescue Drew McIntyre from a 2-on-1 handicap match against T-Bar and Mace. That led to a straight-up tag with Strowman teaming with McIntyre. And it ended with them unmasking T-Bar and Mace...who got the win via disqualification. Naomi and Lana beat the WWE Women's Tag Team Champs Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in a non-title match. Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke got involved in this one...and basically taunted Jax until she left the ringside area. That left Baszler alone to take the pin. Damian Priest Hit The Lights and pinned The Miz. Elias pinned Kofi Kingston with an elbow off the top rope. Humberto Carrillo returned to Raw to confront the new U.S. Champion Sheamus...and got beaten down for his troubles. WWE Champ Bobby Lashley was NOT on the show. Also, the tag champs AJ Styles and Omos were missing for the second straight week. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Dark has Max Caster from The Acclaimed vs. Alan “5” Angels. Also, Pac is in action. On last night's Dark: Elevation...Austin Gunn BEAT The Factory's Aaron Solow. Later, BILLY Gunn got into it backstage with QT Marshall. Later, AEW announced those two veterans will meet one-on-one on Wednesday's Dynamite. Private Party beat Dark Order's Alex Reynolds and Colt Cabana. Isaiah Kassidy rolled up Cabana for the pin. In the main event...Kenny Omega, MT Nakazawa and Konosuke Takeshita beat Matt & Mike Sydal and Danny Limelight. After the show, Takeshita tweeted that the match was his last in AEW - at least, for now. He's heading back to Japan, where he's promoted for a DDT Pro show early next month. Takeshita said he hopes to return...and his next goal is to have a match on Dynamite. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is holding one of its bigger shows on the Road To Wrestling Dontaku this morning. The NEVER 6-Man Tag Titles are on the line in the main event. There was an upset on Monday's show. Taiji Ishimori used a surprise rollup to PIN Hirooki Goto. Major League Wrestling has a new TV deal. MLW announced Monday it'll be coming to Vice TV sometime this Spring. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor is promising a “big announcement” concerning its women's division today. That'll come during its “Week By Week” YouTube show. On the 500th episode of Ring Of Honor TV...Jonathan Gresham rolled up Jay Lethal to retain his Pure Title. In the main event, Mark Briscoe used Froggy Bow to put his brother Jay...through a table at ringside...and Mark BEAT Jay via countout. (STINGER: Impact) Impact has a special tonight, called “This Is Rebellion”. That's tonight at 9PM Eastern on AXS TV. The show will focus on the Title vs. Title Main Event between Kenny Omega and Rich Swann at Sunday's pay per view. A reminder...Impact's weekly TV is now airing on Thursdays. Kylie Ray is set to return to pro wrestling on June 5th - but her opponent will NO longer be Thunder Rosa as it was announced last month. Instead, Kylie Ray will now defend the Warrior Wrestling Women's Championship against Hollidead. The match between Kylie Ray and Thunder Rosa is now rescheduled for August 21st. According to the Google description, Long Island, New York is “an expansive, densely populated island in southeastern New York State, stretching east from New York City.” A population of over seven million people inhabit Long Island, and yet Ryan Meyers, the brainchild behind alternative/emo rock act Figure Eight, stands out among them. So much so, that Ryan has returned for another chat with us. The last time we spoke with Meyers, Figure Eight was getting ready to release their EP, Forever, back in February 2017. Time has passed, the lineup has changed. Life has changed. And out of that change, Meyers has created “Any Given Flower”, Figure Eight’s debut album, a ten-track journey through the boundaries of human emotion. In the press release announcing the album, Meyers was quoted: “Any Given FLower is a collection of songs I wrote during a two year period of my life that deal a lot with the pain of loneliness, being young and struggling with identity and purpose.”Pulling influence from the 90s emo wave that brought bands like American Football, The Get Up Kids, and Basement to the forefront of the genre, Meyers brings forth music that evokes a genre that he grew up with, and it unquestionably shows throughout this record. For The Record chatted with Ryan about the making of Figure Eight’s debut album, the first single from that album, “Oyster Days”, and the way he believes his songwriting has progressed over the last couple of years.Any Given Flower, the debut album from Figure Eight, will be available on May 24th. For today’s show, the last in our TrainAI series, I'm joined by Qazaleh Mirsharif, a machine learning scientist working on computer vision at Figure Eight. Qazaleh and I caught up at the TrainAI conference to discuss a couple of the projects she’s worked on in that field, namely her research into the classification of retinal images and her work on parking sign detection from Google Street View images. The former, which attempted to diagnose diseases like diabetic retinopathy using retinal scan images, is similar to the work I spoke with Ryan Poplin about on TWiML Talk #122. In my conversation with Qazaleh we focus on how she built her datasets for each of these projects and some of the key lessons she’s learned along the way. In this episode, I chat with Rob Munro, CTO of the newly branded Figure Eight, formerly known as CrowdFlower. Figure Eight’s Human-in-the-Loop AI platform supports data science & machine learning teams working on autonomous vehicles, consumer product identification, natural language processing, search relevance, intelligent chatbots, and more. Rob and I had a really interesting discussion covering some of the work he’s previously done applying machine learning to disaster response and epidemiology, including a use case involving text translation in the wake of the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake. We also dig into some of the technical challenges that he’s encountered in trying to scale the human-in-the-loop side of machine learning since joining Figure Eight, including identifying more efficient approaches to image annotation as well as the use of zero shot machine learning to minimize training data requirements. Finally, we briefly discuss Figure Eight’s upcoming TrainAI conference, which takes place on May 9th & 10th in San Francisco. Train AI you can join me and Rob, along with a host of amazing speakers like Garry Kasparov, Andrej Karpathy, Marti Hearst and many more and receive hands-on AI, machine learning and deep learning training through real-world case studies on practical machine learning applications. Back in late 2017, we did a show about expensify and how the organization was using a service called 'Amazon Mechanical Turk' (MTurk) to process receipts and to help train their Machine Learning Algorithms. You can download that show and listen to it here:  2017-040 #infosec people on Twitter and elsewhere were worried about #privacy issues, as examples of receipts on MTurk included things like business receipts, medical invoices, travel receipts and the like. One of our Slack members (@nxvl) came on our #Slack channel after the show reached out and said that his company uses services like these at their company. They use these services to test applications, unit testing, and creation of test cases for training and refinement of their own applications and algorithms. We discuss the privacy implications of employing these services, how to reduce the chances of data loss, the technology behind how they make the testing work, and what other companies should do if they want to employ the Mturk, or other 3rd parties.
