How do you prepare an entire generation for a world where AI is already shaping how we work, create, and solve problems? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I'm joined by Dr. Tara Nattrass, Chief Innovation Strategist for Education at Lenovo, for a grounded and thoughtful conversation about what responsible AI integration really looks like in K–12 classrooms. Tara brings more than 25 years of experience inside school districts, including serving as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Arlington Public Schools, so this isn't a theory-led discussion. It's informed by lived experience. We explore how the conversation has shifted over the past 18 months. AI has been present in schools for years through adaptive software and analytics, but the arrival of generative and now agentic AI tools has accelerated everything. As Tara explains, the debate is no longer about whether AI should be in schools. It's about how to approach it responsibly, strategically, and in ways that genuinely improve learning outcomes. A big theme in our conversation is AI literacy. Tara breaks this down in practical terms, moving beyond technical understanding to include critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and the ability to evaluate risk and bias. She shares real examples of students designing AI tools to solve problems in their communities, shifting the focus from passive consumption to active creation. We also talk about infrastructure readiness. Many school systems have bold ambitions around AI, but there is often a gap between vision and technical capability. AI-ready devices, intelligent infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data governance all play a role in making innovation sustainable rather than experimental. Lenovo's approach, as Tara describes it, centers on building education ecosystems rather than simply refreshing hardware. There is also a careful balance to strike between innovation, privacy, and inclusion. From hybrid AI models to questions around where data is stored and who can access it, schools are navigating complex decisions. Tara shares how Lenovo partners with districts, policymakers, and organizations such as ISTE and ASCD to align infrastructure, professional learning, and governance frameworks. Looking ahead, we discuss what will separate school systems that truly benefit from AI from those that simply layer new tools onto old teaching models. Vision, educator upskilling, cybersecurity, and rethinking assessment all feature prominently in her answer. If you are working in education, technology leadership, or policy, this conversation offers a practical view of how AI-ready classrooms are being built today and what still needs to happen next. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts. How is AI reshaping learning in your organization, and are you ready for what comes next?

Born with strabismus and severe vision issues, Ainhoa's early healing experience became foundational to her identity and later research. Her work highlights how stress, inflammation, and unresolved emotional tension can influence conditions such as myopia, astigmatism, and double vision. The conversation raises important questions about why glasses are often prescribed without investigating root causes like sinus pressure or chronic stress.Vision challenges can reveal far more than genetics or aging ever could. As many of you know, I am serving in this season as the Interim Pastor of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas — a historic and faithful congregation with a rich legacy of gospel ministry. It is a true honor to serve the people who call Grand Avenue home. This past Sunday, I delivered a message entitled “Jesus' Vision for Our Life and Church.” While this sermon was prepared with the people of Grand Avenue and the Fort Smith community specifically in mind, its message speaks to every believer and every church. I want to use this episode of the For Leader podcast to share it with you. I invite you to watch or listen and ask the Lord to speak to you through His Word. May He align our hearts with His vision for our lives and His Church.

Genau hier setzt Episode 935 an. Doch alles hängt an dir. What happens when a nurse who's spent years caring for patients turns her focus to caring for organisations? In this episode, Kym Ali shares the deeply personal journey that reshaped how she sees leadership. After helping open a women's and children's hospital in Qatar, she was unexpectedly terminated, left with debt, uncertainty, and her identity shaken overnight. Weeks later, she faced devastating personal loss. Instead of breaking her, those moments gave her clarity. Her mission became simple and powerful: help leaders create workplaces where people feel seen, heard, and safe. This conversation explores the human side of leadership that rarely gets discussed. Kym explains why waiting for burnout, disengagement, or resignations is already too late. She introduces her practical ADPE framework, Assess, Diagnose, Prescribe, Evaluate, and shows how leadership should work more like healthcare than guesswork. You will hear why employees believe in the leader before they believe in the vision, and why small wins are often the key to real change. We also talk about grief at work, difficult conversations, and what empathy actually looks like in practice. Not grand gestures, not perfect words, just presence. If you care about building trust, leading through uncertainty, and creating a culture that performs without sacrificing wellbeing, this episode will challenge you to look inward first.Because leadership is not just about strategy. It is about how you show up when things are hard.Actionable Takeaway: Don't wait for symptoms like burnout to act, by then it's already late.If someone's struggling, ask where you might have missed something first. In hard moments, presence matters more than perfect words.Start change with small wins, not sweeping announcements.People believe in you before they believe in your vision.Stop guessing, assess properly before you fix anything. If you feel drained, it might be time for a new chapter.Culture is built in difficult conversations, not easy days.Connect with Kym Ali:Learn more about Kym AliKym Ali on LinkedInSchedule a callConnect with Christian "Boo" Boucousis:Learn more about Christian BoucousisBoo on LinkedInBoo on InstagramBoo on YouTube

In 1988, I was one of only two white elected Democratic officials in all of America to endorse Jesse Jackson to be our party's nominee for President. (The other was Bernie Sanders, then the mayor of Burlington Vermont). As a Texas politico, my endorsement of the fiery Black leader was both derided as political suicide and hailed as gutsy. But it was neither – it was just the right thing to do. As I had learned from an old-time Texas Democrat, “Every now and then, a politician ought to do something just because it's right.”In the 1970s and 80s, I had gotten to know and work with Jackson. A renown orator, he was an even more effective thinker and uniter. For example, he was able to link white, conservative dirt farmers in common cause with impoverished farmworkers and inner-city families battling chain-store profiteers. So, when he ran for president, I had to ask myself: If this guy (1) is standing for the progressive populist values I believe in, (2) is standing with the grassroots families I'm fighting for, and (3) has the populist grit to stand up to the moneyed elites – why am I not standing with him?Millions of us responded to his deliberate campaign trying to forge a multi-racial populist movement, and it's up to us to carry that historic mission forward. But Jackson's “Rainbow” vision was not one of fluffy hope however, but one of profound “intentionality.” That means doing the grunt-level political work of strategizing, organizing, and mobilizing to make good things happen. Especially in these dark Trumpian times, emphasizing Jesse's deliberate determination is the best way to honor this true champion of democracy.Jim Hightower's Lowdown is a reader-supported publication. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: Nurturing Through Adversity
What happens when a visionary leader is brought to their knees by a family crisis? In this heartfelt episode, Laura Brazan welcomes Brad Hoffman, pastor and grandparent raising his grandchildren after the loss of his daughter, to explore the transformational power of integrating personal adversity with leadership.Together, they discuss the unique challenges grandparents face as primary caregivers, reveal practical strategies for self-care, and unpack the shifting nature of identity after trauma. This episode dives into reframing success, the importance of presence over productivity, and the necessity of dreaming even in hard seasons. The conversation tackles why leaders must move past compartmentalization, develop a “theology of weakness,” and embrace vulnerability as a core leadership strength. Dr. Anshu Chandra, founder of the Global Eye Project, has dedicated her career to solving this crisis. Since 2015, her nonprofit has worked to provide free eye exams, advanced treatments, and a sustainable care model by training local staff.During today's episode, Anshu shared how her transformative journey began. After witnessing the dire conditions during a mission trip to India, she decided to focus her career on providing eye care to underserved communities. “I saw how much need there was for eye care and how rare it was for people to have access,” Anshu explained. This realization ultimately led her to Haiti, where the need for care was “so tremendous” she couldn't look away.In 2015, she moved to Haiti with two suitcases—one filled with personal items, the other with medical equipment. Partnering with a local hospital, she established a clinic that has grown into a vital resource for the entire country. The clinic has provided over 132,000 free eye exams and performed more than 7,000 advanced procedures, including laser treatments and surgeries. But the impact doesn't end there. Anshu's commitment to sustainability has led to the training of local staff, many of whom now run the clinic independently. “Some of my staff members are orphans, and they're now supporting their families and caring for their community,” she shared. The Global Eye Project is now raising $300,000 to build a new facility that will expand its services. The proposed clinic will include a surgical center and an optical lab, enabling the nonprofit to become more financially independent. It will also allow the team to continue offering free consultations to ensure no one is turned away.By addressing a critical need with compassion and ingenuity, Anshu is not only restoring sight but also creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. You can support this life-changing work by visiting GlobalEyeProject.org and contributing to their campaign.tl;dr:Dr. Anshu Chandra founded the Global Eye Project to combat preventable blindness in underserved communities. The nonprofit has provided over 132,000 free eye exams and 7,000 advanced treatments in Haiti.Anshu's sustainable model trains local staff to deliver care, empowering the community long-term.The Global Eye Project is raising $300,000 to build a new clinic with expanded capabilities.Anshu's journey highlights the power of thinking outside the box to solve pressing global challenges. How to Develop Thinking Outside the Box As a SuperpowerAnshu's superpower is her ability to think outside the box to solve complex challenges. Reflecting on her work, she explained, “I didn't see a reason why this couldn't happen. How hard could it be to go there, put up a clinic, and train locals?” Her innovative mindset enabled her to approach Haiti's eye care crisis creatively, building a sustainable model that trains locals to provide care independently. One of the most striking examples of Anshu's superpower is how she started her clinic in Haiti. Arriving with minimal resources, she trained local staff by having them practice on volunteers. Without advertising, word spread, and lines of patients formed. Over time, she transformed a rudimentary clinic with dirt floors into a well-equipped facility with 11 exam rooms, advanced diagnostic tools, and a sustainable care model.Tips for Developing the Superpower:Reframe obstacles as opportunities.Focus on the goal rather than the limitations.Start small but think big—break projects into manageable steps.Commit your time, energy, and resources to what you believe is possible.Build partnerships and accept help from others.By following Anshu's example and advice, you can make thinking outside the box a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileDr. Anshu Chandra (she/her):Founder, Global Eye ProjectAbout Global Eye Project: Founded in the United States, the Global Eye Project has grown to include volunteers and donors from all over the world. Together we are empowering local communities by building locally managed sustainable eye clinics through education initiatives and volunteer run professional training services to reduce the need for outside support. She is working to end disparities in eye care globally by bringing this service to remote areas and giving them health equity. She's leading our efforts in Haiti and has built a permanent eye clinic in Fond-des-Blancs which provides client care and training for local residents. She's also collaborating with other institutions in Haiti providing care via mobile clinics to address the immediate need as well as working on more permanent solutions by helping to further develop the Haitian ophthalmology residency program in Port-au-Prince. This would provide advanced training and access to equipment and supplies so ALL Haitians can have high quality eye care. She holds a Doctor of Optometry degree and did her residency from SUNY College of Optometry in New York. She was raised in India and the USA where her mother worked as a social worker with under-served communities and created programs to strengthen various skills to make members more independent. These influences have given Anshu an understanding of the needs of disadvantaged populations as well as practical, simple solutions to address those needs. Anshu has also provided eye care to communities in Nepal, Haiti, Peru, Lebanon, Tanzania, Honduras, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Indonesia, and India. The Super Crowd, Inc., a public benefit corporation, is proud to have been named a finalist in the media category of the impact-focused, global Bold Awards.Support Our SponsorsOur generous sponsors make our work possible, serving impact investors, social entrepreneurs, community builders and diverse founders. He read the entire New Testament in a weekend. Fasted for 40 days. Got a Bible college degree. Got ordained. Pastored a church. And after all of that — 10 years of trying — he still couldn't hear God's voice.Mark Virkler wasn't casual about his faith. He was desperate for it to work. But every method he tried led to the same result: silence. No one could explain what God's voice actually sounded like. One teacher called it "subterranean rumblings of the spiritual mind." Another said "you just know that you know." None of it helped. Then one morning, God woke him up with a voice he couldn't ignore and pointed him to Habakkuk 2:1-2 — where he found 4 simple steps that changed everything:Stillness — quiet yourself and get beyond your own thoughtsVision — fix the eyes of your heart on JesusFlow — tune to spontaneous, flowing thoughtsJournaling — write down what you receiveWhat surprised Mark most? He realized he'd been hearing God his whole life — he just didn't know what to listen for. Those "brilliant thoughts" that seemed to come out of nowhere? That creative solution? That nudge to call someone? That was God. He'd just been attributing it to his own mind.In this conversation, Mark shares the full story — the 10 years of frustration, the wrong definitions that kept him stuck, the moment it broke open, and how an 8-year-old granddaughter now uses these same steps every single day.If you've ever thought "Why can't I hear God?" — this might be the reason.

Two decades ago, NASA Administrator Michael Griffin said the space agency has become too dependent on outside contractors, hollowing out some of the skills the agency needs in-house to oversee and evaluate programs. Similar concerns rose to the top when NASA kicked off its Vision 2040 project in 2018. Now it's NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman's turn to pave over this well-known ground. In this week's federal report, Federal News Network executive editor Jason Miller writes about why this latest attempt to refocus and reinvigorate NASA's workforce may be different. This week, Andrew got a great question from a newer attendee who grew up Episcopalian and wanted to understand the difference between what they were used to and what they're hearing now. So we talk preaching styles, liturgy, structure, and why some sermons feel like a written prayer while others feel like a guided tour through the text with a few side roads along the way.Tim is deep in the middle of a vision campaign, which currently means he is eating three meals a day with church members. After three sermons and a new members class yesterday, he logged 240 minutes of speaking time. That is four straight hours, for those keeping score at home. Hydration is now a spiritual discipline.Frank hosted a launch team meeting and start-up party for Cross & Crown, and momentum is building in all the right ways. And to top it all off, our friend Adam Powers is in the house, which means the conversation is lively, the takes are strong, and someone probably says something they shouldn't.It's another week of preaching, planting, casting vision, and trying to find our voices by Monday morning.

HT2542 - Cameras and the Limits of Human Vision We all need new, better, more feature-packed cameras, right? That is what we are being told everyday by the makers of cameras. But do we really? Has it occurred to you that today's cameras can resolve more detail than human vision? Can register more dynamic range than our media of presentation? Think and execute focus and the exposure triangle calculations faster and more reliably than is humanly possible? What more — from a technology point of view — do we need? What happens when you feel outside pressure to make work that doesn't feel like you? In this episode, Kat sits down with Philadelphia-based artist and curator Jessica Libor for a deeply honest conversation about identity, persistence, and building a creative life on your own terms. Jessica shares the story of applying to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts several times before getting in, navigating the tension between her love of fairy tales and beautiful imagery and an academic environment heavily influenced by postmodern aesthetics. She opens up about making dark, tortured paintings to fit in - and how she eventually found her way back to the work she was always meant to make. They also dig into how Jessica launched Era Contemporary, her own gallery and curatorial project, and why creating your own opportunities is sometimes the most powerful move an artist can make. You'll also hear about the mindset tools Jessica swears by - from attending high-end exhibitions and imagining yourself in the room as an exhibiting artist, to journaling and scripting her ideal creative life. She also shares the manifestation story behind getting into Spring Break Art Fair, one of New York's most exciting independent art events. This episode is full of honest reflection on imposter syndrome, developing a personal aesthetic under pressure, and what it really means to stay connected to your North Star as an artist. ABOUT JESSICA LIBOR Jessica Libor is a Philadelphia-based artist whose work explores feminine identity, storytelling, and personal mythology through a lens deeply rooted in global fairy tales and folklore. In this episode of the Capital Raiser Show, hosted by Richard C. Wilson, we sit down with Isabelle Cloud of the Nathan Family Office to explore how a first-generation real estate fortune evolved into a global venture capital powerhouse. With over 300 venture investments, 100+ real estate transactions, and ownership of an entire California town, Isabelle shares how their single family office strategically blends hard assets with high-growth innovation — and why allocating even 1–2% to venture can create outsized returns. Inside this conversation: How real estate wealth became a 300-startup VC portfolio Why early-stage investing (with warrants) is outperforming their real estate holdings The power of negotiation leverage in seed-stage deals Building trust before pitching billion-dollar family offices Why data centers and AI infrastructure may be the next multi-billion-dollar opportunity The vision behind transforming Copper Valley into an AI-powered hub Expanding globally: Why India is their next venture capital frontier Isabelle also shares candid lessons on partnership risk, due diligence, domain expertise, and how curiosity — even in your 80s — fuels generational wealth creation. From e-sports to AI infrastructure to hydrogen-powered data centers, this episode explores how bold family offices think long-term, move early, and build at scale. If you're a founder, capital raiser, or investor looking to understand how modern family offices deploy capital across real estate, venture, and frontier infrastructure — this conversation is packed with insight.
