“Part of the journey for me is about permission. Can I give myself permission to feel both the discomfort in feeling afraid to be vulnerable as well as the courage to be vulnerable?” - Dr. Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, MD, is a licensed, Board-certified Psychiatrist, Certified Yoga Teacher, Certified Mind-Body Medicine Skills Facilitator (CMBM) Today's episode reveals the benefits of physician mindfulness with Dr. Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, MD, licensed board-certified psychiatrist. Master Certified Life Coach and cohost of of the podcast Jill Farmer welcomes Dr. Mirza-Gruber to have a conversation about why and how physicians should be encouraged to show vulnerability. As Dr. Mirza-Gruber shares in the episode, she has found that by being vulnerable with her patients, she is able to understand and help them better, and to ultimately find more joy in practicing medicine. By allowing yourself to be vulnerable and acknowledge your personal worries or doubts, Dr. Mirza-Gruber has found that physicians are able to better show compassion for themselves, so that they are then more suited to care for others. Today's episode works to normalize these physician experiences. Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, MD, is a licensed, board-certified psychiatrist (ABPN), Certified Yoga Teacher (NACYT), and Certified Mind-Body Medicine Skills Facilitator (CMBM). She leads meditation groups, and is currently in a two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, Class of February 2023. In May 2017, she founded her own private practice, Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, M.D., PLLC - DBA Mindful in Practice™, to follow her lifelong passion of helping individuals become their true and authentic selves. As an individual, parent, and psychiatrist, Manizeh follows a holistic approach to life. She believes in connecting mind, body, heart, and spirit for healing. She has been facilitating Mind-Body Skills Groups and workshops since January 2018 to bring healing in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and now during the Coronavirus pandemic. Manizeh is happily married to her husband and has two adult children and a dog. She has a daily practice of running, yoga, and meditation. She has run several marathons, and since 2014 has been “fundracing” for a nonprofit organization, Back on My Feet. Tune in as we review a biblical concept that you may have overlooked during the pandemic. Apostle Ed Johnson shares a keen revelation from Genesis 13:2 that is wrapped around the Abrahamic blessing that all believers have access to, during a famine or not! Born Edward Lee Johnson, Jr., Bishop Ed – as he is affectionately called - is a native Houstonian. He is the son of Deacon Edward L. and Erma Johnson, Sr. He attended M. B. Smiley High School, Texas Southern University, and is a certified Christian Counselor. He is the husband of Pastor Marilyn Johnson and the proud father of Chãs Braxton, Christal Joi, Edward III (Tre'), and Kyle Maxwell. Bishop Ed is the founder and president of Ed Johnson International Ministries, which includes several ministries and conferences: Woman You Have Dominion Too Conference, Next Life Seminar, Church Music Symposium, Church Ministry Leaders Workshop, and more. Bishop Ed is the founding and senior pastor of Christ Worship Center (Houston, Texas), serving with Pastor Marilyn for over 20 years. The ministry has seen its ups and downs, but the preaching and teaching of Bishop Ed have never wavered from the holy and sanctified living required of all believers. Bishop is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, and choir director, appearing on stage with many renowned gospel artists throughout the years. In the early '90s, he formed a group called “Ed Johnson & Praise,” which attained prominence with the original recording of “Where Are The Christians?” That year at the Texas Gospel Music Awards, they were nominated in three categories and won two, Group of the Year and Song of the Year. Bishop has been awarded: Legend's Award (by Kim Burrell), Living Legend's Award (by the Houston Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America), They Gave Us Gospel and many others. Walking with God since the age of 9, Bishop Ed's fervor for God and the things of God has only grown through the years. He has spent hours in the presence of God, praying, in the Word of God, and fellowshipping with the Spirit to prove the anointing on his life; it is evident once you hear him literally break the bread of life. Bishop attributes his love for the Word of God to his avid attendance of Sunday School and Bible Training Sessions during his youth and young adult years. He has also experienced great trials and spiritual attacks by the powers of darkness (s and naturally) but has weathered every storm by the Grace of God. It is obvious in his delivery of the Word. Bishop has recently published his first book entitled “Righteous & Rich”, where he explores the spiritual and natural inheritance of God's provision for His Children. He dares to ask the questions of why we believe what we believe and how exactly does that belief fit into the promises of God. Bishop says, “Are we living the life preachers and teachers have instructed us into, or are we living the life that God ordained for us? Because there is a difference!” People all over the country have been sharing their eye-opening experiences after reading the book. The love that Bishop Ed has for God is evident in the manner he handles God's people. He is constantly seeking ways to establish the people of God in the service of God. He is an ordained apostle, bishop, and pastor. He is an entrepreneur, published author, husband, father, friend, musician, visionary, and a man who loves and fears God. His life's mission is to prepare the saints for the world to come! For more info go to www.edjohnsonministries.com.

It was 1965, headed back to the U.S.A from an annual trip to the bullfights in Sonora, Mexico, Don Chambers and his friends stopped at a local Cantina. When they entered, a patron asked the waitress, "Who are those guys?" The waitress answered, "That's DC and his American Bandidos" - hence the name. In March of 1966 THE BANDIDOS MOTORCYCLE CLUB was born. The Houston Chapter or Mother Chapter was soon followed by the Southwest Houston Chapter. A year later, riding back from that annual trip as full patch Bandidos, a problem occurred with the Federales in Mexico and a Bandido "Sunshine" was killed. He was the first Bandido killed and that was the last time the Bandidos went to Mexico. With hundreds of chapters across THE USA, Central and South America, and thousands of members with a worldwide following, the Bandido Nation is strong and thriving. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/motorcyclemadhouse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/motorcyclemadhouse/support

In this week's episode I speak with Steve Goepfert about lessons he learned from being a CAE. We discuss various topics including the difference between being a Chief Auditor, and being a Chief Audit Executive; what it really takes to be a CAE; how to provide those moments of head snap (you'll have to listen to learn more); how to prove and communicate the value internal audit provides; and not getting so engrained in the mechanics that we don't focus on the big picture. Steve Goepfert was the Vice President - Internal Audit (Chief Auditor) for United Airlines in Chicago, Illinois. He assumed the role after the merger of United and Continental. He had previously been Chief Auditor at Continental Airlines for 21 years. He was the 2006-2007 Chairman of the Board for the Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc. (IIA). At the Global level, Steve served on the IIA's Executive Committee for 6 years (2003-09) and on the IIA Board for 7 years. He previously served as Senior Vice Chairman and Vice Chairman – Professional Services and is a past President of the Houston Chapter (1999-2000), and served on its Board for 17 years. In 2012, Steve was inducted into the inaugural class of the IIA's American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners. He was recognized in 2013 with the Victor Brink award for distinguished service to the IIA. He is now enjoying retirement in Tennessee. I am very grateful to have one of the legends in the internal audit profession on the show.

An energy project today might be the development of a car battery that will run an electric car for 200 miles; the placement of wind turbines in an open field; or the construction of an oil refinery that can process half a million barrels a day. For organizations seeking to restructure energy resources and delivery, options abound. More than a project, in energy you must consider a full portfolio of intertwining elements. PMs in the current environment often find themselves in the role of Change Manager. Stakeholder management is paramount, as you deal with the communities that will be affected, energy providers and distributors, and bankers and financiers.
