When artist Vincent Fantauzzo was a boy he was a street-fighting petty criminal with dyslexia and a blazing talent for drawing. He escaped jail time, and grew up to become one of Australia's most well-known portrait artists.VIncent Fantauzzo is one of Australia's most successful portrait artists. For his luminous, photo-realistic paintings he's won the People's Choice Award at the annual Archibald Prize more than any other artist. He's also won the Moran National Portrait Prize twice, once with a painting of his friend, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, and the second time with a painting of his wife, actor Asher Keddie. All the success is a long way from his upbringing in Broadmeadows in Melbourne, when at times it seemed like he was going to end up in jail, or dead.Vincent struggled so badly with dyslexia that he developed elaborate rituals to avoid writing at school, which is partly how he came to drawing. He became a street-fighting petty criminal and he was kicked out of school at 14 and was drawn into a violent world where he had to be extraordinarily streetwise to survive.Vincent still carries the scars of surviving his childhood into the big, beautiful life he's built for himself as one of Australia's most well-known artists. This episode of Conversations explores origin stories, social disadvantage, parenting, father son relationships, boxing, learning disabilities, struggling in school, Hollywood, the art world, Heath Ledger, Kim Ledger, Batman, family, family dynamics, life story, art, portraits, painting, juvenile crime, drug dealing, hot houses, brothers.Unveiled, written with Craig Henderson, is published by Penguin. To binge even more great episodes of the ‘Conversations podcast' with Richard Fidler and Sarah Kanowski go the ABC listen app (Australia) or wherever you get your podcasts. Our best customers work with us regularly, and we're constantly hearing from them." - Rick Bond, Chief Revenue Officer, Safeware When a crisis hits, procurement must move at lightning speed… but without cutting corners.  How do public agencies build systems that are nimble, compliant, and ready for anything? The answer to that question lies in proactive preparation, robust cooperative agreements, and the partnerships that power an effective emergency response. In this episode, Philip Ideson speaks with Tammy Rimes, Executive Director of National Cooperative Procurement Partners, and Rick Bond, Safeware's Chief Revenue Officer. Jonathan Greene sits down with Steph Weber, CEO of The Weber Co., to break down why short-term rental owners can't rely solely on Airbnb if they want long-term control and growth. Steph explains how direct branding protects your business from platform changes, helps guests connect emotionally to what you offer, and creates a clearer path to repeat stays and referrals. They also dig into what it actually takes to build a brand guests remember, beyond pretty photos and a few amenities. Steph shares how to define a real target audience (often starting with yourself or a past/future version of yourself), how to turn amenities into guided experiences, and why collecting guest emails is one of the simplest, most overlooked moves STR operators can make. The biggest takeaway: today's STR world isn't a side hobby—it's a hospitality business. And the operators who win are the ones who design intentionally, market consistently, and build a brand they own. In this episode, you will hear: Why direct branding matters when you don't control the platform that drives bookings How Airbnb changes can impact hosts—and why brand autonomy is the hedge What it means to create a "branded guest experience" (not just a place to sleep) How to define your avatar and design for a specific audience (not the masses) Why email lists are "low-hanging fruit" and how they power direct bookings Turning amenities into intentional rituals and guided experiences guests remember Follow and Review If you enjoy the show, please follow Zen and the Art of Real Estate Investing on Apple Podcasts and leave a rating and review. In this episode of Business Not As Usual, Megan sits down with Kwadwo (pronounced QUĀY-jo), host of the Art of Online Business podcast, to break down one of the most misunderstood growth decisions in online business: when your business should start using Meta ads, and when it actually makes sense to hire an ads manager versus running ads yourself. This conversation is refreshingly honest and grounded. Rather than selling ads as a magic solution, Kwadwo explains why ads don't fix broken offers, why more eyeballs on the wrong funnel usually lead to frustration (not revenue), and how organic sales are the clearest signal that paid traffic will work. If you've ever felt tempted to "just throw money at ads" because you're tired or stuck, this episode will help you slow down and make a smarter decision. Kwadwo also walks through what he calls his Olympic Gold Medal Testing Framework: a practical way to lower Facebook and Instagram ad lead costs by treating ads like ongoing experiments, not all-or-nothing bets. He shares how to test conservatively, adapt to changes like Meta's Andromeda update, and protect your nervous system (and your cash) while still scaling sustainably. You'll also hear a nuanced discussion about money, pressure, and leadership, including why saving cash creates more freedom than most online business conversations admit, how knowing your profit per lead changes everything, and why no ethical ads manager should ever guarantee results. Whether you've never run ads, have had a bad experience in the past, or are right on the edge of scaling again, this episode will help you make decisions from clarity instead of urgency. Special Moments from the Episode "Jesus saves. Meta ads do not." — why ads amplify what's already working (or broken) The clearest sign your business is ready for Meta ads (and why income alone isn't enough) Kwadwo's profit-per-lead math for deciding DIY ads vs hiring an ads manager Why lead magnet ads + launch ads beat "brand-building ads" early on How to think about the Meta Andromeda update without panic or overreacting A candid conversation about saving money, runway, and freedom most online spaces avoid Kwadwo's Links: →48 Hour Ad-Fix Audit (get $20 off!): https://quayjo.thrivecart.com/audit/?coupon=MEGADS →Listen to The Art of Online Business: https://theartofonlinebusiness.com/aoob-podcast/    Connect with Meg →Discover how to craft a powerful business origin story that sets you apart, builds trust, and inspires clients to work with you: https://meganyelaney.com/business-story-blueprint   →Come say hi on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meganyelaney

Lauren Hartstone is a Creative Director and Partner at Sibling Rivalry, where she's spent the past decade mastering the art of fusing brand architecture with compelling storytelling. From creating iconic title sequences at Imaginary Forces to revolutionizing sports graphics, her journey reveals how creative fearlessness and systematic thinking can transform entire industries.Growing up with a market research executive father and artist mother, Lauren developed an understanding of both human behavior and visual expression. Her obsession with David Fincher's Se7en title sequence led her to Imaginary Forces for five transformative years. At Gretel, she experienced a humbling moment of having to step back and learn systematic branding. Becoming a mother of two fundamentally shifted her leadership approach—embracing merged work-life roles rather than separation. Now revolutionising sports graphics, Lauren's admission of knowing nothing about the sector became her greatest asset. Her philosophy centers on finding stories that already exist, working smarter as a leader, and maintaining excitement about possibility even after decades in the industry.Key moments: Merge branding with storytelling: The most powerful work happens when systematic brand thinking meets emotional narrative craft—they're not separate disciplines but symbiotic forces that strengthen each otherThe story is usually already there: Stop searching for manufactured insights and bigger concepts outside—the most authentic and resonant stories often exist within the brand, the people, or the culture you're trying to representStrategic fearlessness beats safe permanence: Brands hold back from bold creative choices because they fear permanence, but campaigns are ephemeral—there's more power in being willing to take expressive risks that can evolve over timeFresh perspective is your superpower: Not knowing a sector intimately isn't a weakness—it's an opportunity to bring new eyes, question conventions, and offer what you do best without being constrained by industry dogmaLeadership shifts from hours to impact: As you grow into creative leadership, especially as a parent, your value transforms from volume and hours worked to vision, clarity, and the ability to work smarter and fasterKeep work and life merged, not separated: The stress of maintaining rigid boundaries between creative passion and family responsibilities can be replaced by flexible integration—showing your children what creative work looks like teaches possibilityStay excited about where things could go: After decades in the industry, maintaining genuine enthusiasm for "there's so many places this could go" at the start of each project keeps creativity alive and prevents complacencyFind where you feel your best self: Long-term creative fulfilment requires finding the team, the environment, and the work that allows you to stretch, learn, feel confident, and be authentically yourself. Poet and essayist Carol Ann Davis (Fairfield University) joins Evan Rosa for a searching conversation on violence, childhood, and the moral discipline of attention in the aftermath of Sandy Hook. Reflecting on trauma, parenting, childhood, poetry, and faith, Davis resists tidy narratives and invites listeners to dwell with grief, healing, beauty, and pain without resolution.“I don't believe life feels like beginnings, middles, and ends.”In this episode, Davis reflects on how lived trauma narrows attention, reshapes language, and unsettles conventional storytelling. Together they discuss poetry as dwelling rather than explanation, childhood and formation amid violence, image versus narrative, moral imagination, and the challenge of staying present to suffering.Episode Highlights“Nothing has happened at Hawley School. In this intimate conversation, MaKshya Tolbert shares the "why" behind writing Shade as a place; explores loss, as a structure to see grief; the (devastating) consequences of wanting shade; and being invited into yourself. MaKshya practices poetry and placemaking in Virginia, where her grandmother raised her. She was the 2025 Art in Library Spaces Artist-in-Residence at the University of Virginia, 2024 New City Arts Fellowship Guest Curator, and serves on the Charlottesville Tree Commission (2022-present), including as 2024 Chair. Her debut book of poems, Shade is a place (winner of the 2024 National Poetry Series), meanders east-west along the City's Downtown Mall, seeking a sense of place amid the flux of the Mall's turning trees, landscape design, and one's inner life. She has received recent fellowship and residency support from Cave Canem, New City Arts, Lead to Life, the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts' Long-Term Ecological Reflections program (2024-26 Fireline Fellow), Community of Writers, Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, the University of Virginia, and the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission. Her recent poetry and prose can be found at Poem-a-Day, Emergence Magazine, Nightboat Books, and more. She is the 2025-2030 Associate Editor in Poetry for Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment (ISLE), published quarterly by Oxford University Press. In her free time, she is elsewhere—a place Eddie S. Glaude Jr. calls, "that physical or metaphorical place that affords the space to breathe."  You can connect with MaKshya at @processdaily on Instagram.  You may purchase Shade as a place, Penguin 2025, wherever books are sold. ------- Get Lauren's 10-Min Meditation for Grief to support you on your journey! Trained first as an artist at the Royal College of Art in London, she later found her way naturally into the healing arts, studying bioenergetic psychotherapy in Spain, dance with Gabrielle Roth, and Shintaido Martial Arts in San Francisco. Her love for classical homeopathy led her to the UK, where she completed her studies at The School of Homeopathic Medicine in North Yorkshire and became a member of both the UK and US Society of Homeopaths. In 1997, she returned to the United States to establish The Institute of Life Energy Medicine, offering classes on homeopathy, soul psychology, and creative healing—courses she taught for 15 years and now makes available online. Her journey has taken her through Europe, Africa, and India, deepening both her spiritual understanding and her healing work. She studied archetypes at the Carl Jung Institute in Switzerland, earned a master's degree in fine arts, and spent many years living in Spain and the UK. Among her most meaningful experiences were her visits to India to learn from her teacher, Sadguru HLW Poonja, who opened her heart to her higher purpose, encouraged her writing, and gave her the name Ambika, meaning “Universal Mother.” Today, she continues to nurture her inner peace through meditation and lives a joyful, grounded life in Tucson, Arizona. 19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to him, to ask him: Who art thou?Et hoc est testimonium Joannis, quando miserunt Judaei ab Jerosolymis sacerdotes et Levitas ad eum ut interrogarent eum : Tu quis es? 20 And he confessed, and did not deny: and he confessed: I am not the Christ.Et confessus est, et non negavit, et confessus est : Quia non sum ego Christus. 21 And they asked him: What then? Art thou Elias? And he said: I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered: No.Et interrogaverunt eum : Quid ergo? Elias es tu? Et dixit : Non sum. Propheta es tu? Et respondit : Non. 22 They said therefore unto him: Who art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself?Dixerunt ergo ei : Quis es ut responsum demus his qui miserunt nos? quid dicis de teipso? 23 He said: I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaias.Ait : Ego vox clamantis in deserto : Dirigite viam Domini, sicut dixit Isaias propheta. 24 And they that were sent, were of the Pharisees.Et qui missi fuerant, erant ex pharisaeis. 25 And they asked him, and said to him: Why then dost thou baptize, if thou be not Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet?Et interrogaverunt eum, et dixerunt ei : Quid ergo baptizas, si tu non es Christus, neque Elias, neque propheta? 26 John answered them, saying: I baptize with water; but there hath stood one in the midst of you, whom you know not.Respondit eis Joannes, dicens : Ego baptizo in aqua : medius autem vestrum stetit, quem vos nescitis. 27 The same is he that shall come after me, who is preferred before me: the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose.Ipse est qui post me venturus est, qui ante me factus est : cujus ego non sum dignus ut solvam ejus corrigiam calceamenti. 28 These things were done in Bethania, beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.Haec in Bethania facta sunt trans Jordanem, ubi erat Joannes baptizans.

SYRACUSE ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION CONTEST Upcoming Hollywood Awards Event HOLLYWOOD, CA - Syracuse, Utah artist Tray Streeter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his illustration will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42. Tray Streeter grew up in Syracuse, Utah. Like many children, he spent much of his childhood drawing, though he was especially interested in still lifes. That fascination with technique deepened in his teenage years after he received a set of oil paints for Christmas, leading him to study the works of John Singer Sargent and Caravaggio. Portraiture became his passion, one that continues to influence his work today. It was not until adulthood, when he began working digitally, that he turned his attention to sci-fi and fantasy art. The genre offered him the freedom to create artworks that exist beyond reality. Influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta and Alex Ross, he aims to combine both the drama and technique of classical painting with the sleek, contemporary possibilities of digital art. Currently, Tray is attending Weber State University, pursuing a BFA in Art with a 2D emphasis. After graduation, he hopes to continue his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ultimately, he aspires to illustrate for Dungeons & Dragons, work on cover illustration for comics, and develop his own original concepts. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 42 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. The past winners of the Writing Contest have published 2,000 novels and nearly 6,300 short stories. They have produced 36 New York Times bestsellers, and their works have sold over 60 million copies. In the 37 years of the Illustrators of the Future Contest, there have been 418 winners. The past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 6,800 illustrations, 390 comic books, graced 700 books and albums with their art, and visually contributed to 68 television shows and 40 major movies. The Writers of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful, and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of speculative fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 41 anthology volumes

We've heard a lot about what doesn't work for us as women with the Me Too Movement and toxic masculinity and the recent Epstein Files, and we know what doesn't work for us as well. But do we know what does? And today's guest is gonna talk about relational masculinity as the next frontier beyond toxic masculinity. It's a beautiful conversation with GS Youngblood, and I welcome you to join us to find out more. GS Youngblood has been studying the dynamics of relationship and polarity for over 17 years. He has found that most relationship problems are a result of a lack of masculine leadership. GS Youngblood offers live training workshops to help men stop settling for a flat, contentious or toxic relationship. He offers a three month live online group experience for a community of 12 like-minded men with his Relationship Repair Boot Camp. He is also a two time book author of "The Masculine in Relationship” and “The Art of Embodiment for Men” A book about owning your strength while still connecting with your woman on a deep level. He has sold nearly 100,000 books to date and has helped tens of thousands of men transform their lives by boiling down a complex subject into a simple three-part framework that ANY man can embody: the Masculine Blueprint. Watch or listen to the show to discover ways to help men find their way to start living from their masculine core. You're Invited! FREE GIFT: MIR Toolkit https://www.gsyoungblood.com/toolkit   GS YOUNGBLOOD BIO GS Youngblood is the acclaimed author of the groundbreaking book “The Masculine in Relationship”, which challenges the modern notion that all Masculinity is toxic by offering a model - the Masculine Blueprint - for men to become grounded in their own power and more relational with their Feminine partner. The Blueprint is something any man can embody, and it fits in our modern #MeToo culture without being watered down in any way. The premise of his work is that many relationship problems are actually rooted in a lack of Relational Masculinity - which is a combination of groundedness, leadership, and relational skills. This is what he teaches to men. His two books have sold nearly a combined 90,000 copies, and he has become a highly sought-after men's coach. GS's work draws inspiration from various disciplines, including psychology, men's work, spirituality, martial arts, tango, meditation, and BDSM. The sound of a choir performing in a cathedral is iconic for a reason.
