As we transition from the whirlwind of the holidays into the stillness of a new year, many individuals may find themselves feeling an unexpected heaviness or discomfort. I want to emphasize that if your anxiety feels more pronounced right now, please know that you're not alone and there's nothing wrong with you. This experience is more common than you might think, and I aim to provide insight and understanding into these feelings.I begin by addressing the post-holiday letdown, which is a feeling that many people struggle to articulate. The holidays often come with significant social stimulation, changes in routine, and increased sensory input. While this can bring moments of joy and connection, it also places our nervous systems under pressure. Once January arrives, the contrast of a quieter, less stimulating environment can lead to feelings of anxiety resurfacing. It's crucial to recognize that this doesn't mean we're regressing in our healing journey; rather, it reflects our nervous system's way of processing accumulated stressors.I highlight the biological impacts of January, where factors such as shorter days and reduced sunlight can profoundly affect our mood and energy levels. The winter season inherently asks us to slow down, yet our modern lives often conflict with this natural rhythm. This friction may manifest as heightened anxiety, which is not a sign of personal failure but rather a response to the seasonal demands on our bodies.#anxiety #januaryanxiety #mentalhealth #anxietyrecovery #nervoussystem #selfcare #ginaryan #anxietycoachespodcast #mentalhealthmatters #winterwellness #healingjourney #postholidayblues #stressrelief #mindfulness #selfcompassion #nervoussystemhealth #restismedicine #wellness #mentalhealthawareness #anxietysupport #seasonalaffective #calm #innerpeace #recovery #holistichealth #breathe #mentalwellness #healing #stressmanagement #healthandwellness #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

America Out Loud PULSE with Dr. Clayton J. Baker – Beneath all of this lies a larger diagnosis. Modern medicine has pathologized ordinary life. Anxiety, attention, addiction, and development have been medicalized, insured, and monetized, creating permanent patients rather than resilient adults. Vaccination policy, Baker argued, has followed the same trajectory. Every deviation from statistical...

On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared launches a new series called Extraordinary Herbs, starting with one of the most widely used—and misunderstood—herbs today: ashwagandha. You'll learn how to use ashwagandha effectively in the real world, why extract type matters, how the most popular forms differ, and what actually determines results for different people. Jared breaks down what modern human research shows, as well as how this herb was traditionally used. Often labeled as the “de-stress herb,” ashwagandha shines as so much more! It supports healthy cortisol signaling, influencing sleep quality, hormone balance, exercise recovery, cognitive function, immune resilience, and thyroid health through the HPA axis. This episode breaks it all down without hype or confusion. Products:Sensoril AshwagandhaVital SleepAnxiety ReleaseMan Up!Man Up! Learn how to JournalSpeak ➡️ LEARN HOW: https://tinyurl.com/2ph33u2s In today's episode, I'm joined by Lois Heymann, who is in her 70s and living proof that healing has no expiration date. Lois came to my work with terrible neck pain—but what she discovered went far beyond her physical symptoms. As she began to look inward, she realized how deeply she had been limiting herself, quietly resigned to the belief that aging meant shrinking, suffering, and slowly going downhill. That belief had shaped not only her body, but her relationship with herself. Through this work, Lois experienced a full recovery from her neck pain—but even more powerfully, she reclaimed her joy. Today, she feels more aligned, authentic, and inspired than ever before. This conversation isn't just about pain; it's about waking up, telling the truth, and choosing to thrive at any stage of life. If you've ever thought, “It's too late for me,” Lois' story will gently—and powerfully—invite you to think again. Join us! We discuss what these voices represent and how to work with them.Other topics: Managing health anxiety when you're actually sick, dealing with rejection without letting it fuel future anxiety, and why thinking about "what could have been" isn't grief—it's just overthinking.Did It Anyways from listeners include:Changing medication brands without obsessing over side effectsDriving four hours alone to a camping trip despite agoraphobiaSitting through a three-hour movie after a year of avoidanceGrocery shopping while anxiousSharing romantic feelings despite fear of rejectionKey takeaway: The simplest description of anxiety disorder recovery? In this meeting of The Late Diagnosis Club, Dr Angela Kingdon welcomes Julie M. Green, a writer, Autistic mother, and late-identified Autistic woman whose self-recognition unfolded through parenting. Julie's story begins not with her own diagnosis, but with her son's. As she learned how to support an Autistic child, she slowly began to recognise familiar patterns in herself — sensory sensitivity, rigidity, perfectionism, chronic illness, and lifelong shyness that had always been framed as personality flaws rather than neurodivergence.Together, Angela and Julie explore maternal guilt, masking across decades, self- and formal diagnosis, and what changes — and what doesn't — when you finally have language for your nervous system.

Learn why you believe something is wrong with you or that success feels unsafe — this is the Inner Child vow you never questioned. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore The Inner Child's vow — an unconscious belief formed in childhood that can create self-doubt, anxiety, and self-sabotage, even when life is going well. Through Taoist wisdom, wu wei (effortless effort), and Shen spirituality, we gently uncover how this survival vow shaped our behaviour, and how it can be dissolved without force, self-criticism, or confrontation. This dialogue is for anyone ready to release old conditioning, trust life again, and return to alignment, flow, and authenticity. Nothing within you is broken. What happens when the need to appear competent becomes the very thing that disconnects us from others—and from ourselves? In this deeply honest and surprisingly funny conversation, Ian welcomes author, speaker, and Enneagram Three, Steve Cuss for a wide-ranging dialogue on anxiety, performance, false self, and the quiet freedom that comes with becoming more human-sized. Drawing from Steve's experience as a hospital chaplain, pastor, and leadership consultant, they explore why our most polished coping strategies often come from fear, how predictable patterns keep us stuck, and why anxiety is so contagious in families, churches, and organizations. Along the way, they unpack the Enneagram Three's drive to succeed, the exhaustion of self-presentation, the difference between ambition and authenticity, and why true maturity looks a lot like being relaxed—no masks required. Expect stories, laughs, hard-earned wisdom, and a refreshing reminder that you don't have to win the room to belong in it. The modern world offers endless stimulation but little peace, and a screen-saturated childhood is quietly forming anxious hearts. Social media's dopamine-driven design amplifies comparison, isolation, and emotional overload while replacing participation with passive observation. This episode contrasts the world's counterfeit joy with the biblical vision of peace found in restored relationship with God.
On today's Witness Wednesday, Dr. Greg Gifford joins Todd Friel at the University of North Georgia to field questions on faith, mental health, and therapy. Dr. Gifford brings his expertise in the field of Biblical Counseling to challenge students on their ideas about therapy and medication. Segment 1: • Todd and Greg confront the popular “Jesus and therapy” trend, urging students to consider the sufficiency of Christ alone. • Learn the critical difference between therapists who integrate worldly psychology and those who stand on Scripture. • Real hope comes when sin is called what it is: something Christ can actually set you free from. Segment 2: • Greg is asked why he didn't address abuse and Trauma. Abuse and deep wounds deserve more than 20-minute treatments; Scripture speaks to them with care and power. • Biblical counseling doesn't ignore pain—it applies truth to the heart and brings real healing. • Discover why people often say “I've read this verse 100 times, but now it hits different.” Segment 3: • A student asks, “Has Christ ever restored your hope personally?” • Todd shares his childhood anxiety and how Jesus completely redefined his fears. • Don't underestimate the power of a local church and Scripture applied directly to your hardest questions. Segment 4: • One student wrestles with surrendering fear—and Todd & Greg dig deep. • Multiple students ask about anxiety, humility, and Bible reading. • Anxiety fades when truth replaces lies, which happens when we fill our mind with God's word and are transformed. Don't just check boxes; use Scripture to engage your heart and fight your sin. ___ Thanks for listening! Wretched Radio would not be possible without the financial support of our Gospel Partners. Feeling like food is taking up way too much brain space? You're not alone and it's more common than you think. The constant overthinking, the mental load you carry around eating, and the pressure built from years of unspoken rules is exhausting and easy to miss because it's been normalized. But that doesn't mean it's healthy, and it definitely doesn't have to stay that way. In this episode, we unpack what it really means when your thoughts are constantly circling around food, eating, and your body. We will explore how diet culture, food tracking apps, and overwhelming food rules can lead to food obsession, chronic overthinking, and a disconnect from your body's natural cues. This conversation normalizes the mental load so many women carry about food and introduces key mindset shifts rooted in intuitive eating, mindful eating, and health at every size. You'll hear how cultural messaging, past dieting patterns, and body mistrust can quietly erode self-trust and lead to patterns like emotional eating, food anxiety, and even disordered eating. You'll also learn the difference between a healthy level of food awareness and the kind that drains your energy and joy. If you've been craving more peace, less guilt, and a better relationship with food, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and a new way forward. You'll learn: What it looks like when food takes up too much brain space The connection between body image, control, and food-related stress How body trust and food freedom start with unlearning cultural messages Why overthinking food is often a symptom of larger emotional or identity struggles What a healthy relationship with food can actually feel like in daily life Let's rebrand wellness together! AT Parenting Survival Podcast: Parenting | Child Anxiety | Child OCD | Kids & Family
When your child is struggling with anxiety or OCD, fear can quietly take over your parenting. Fear of making things worse. Fear of missing something. Fear of what the future might hold. In this episode, I explore the hidden cost of parenting from that place.I talk about how fear often shows up in ways we don't always recognize, such as agitation, constant anxiety, over-cheerleading, or swinging into punitive responses when we are exhausted and overwhelmed. While these reactions are completely understandable, they can unintentionally undermine trust and keep both parent and child stuck.I also share how things shifted when I stopped parenting from fear and began meeting my child exactly where they were. That change did not mean doing less. It meant responding differently. By building trust and creating emotional safety, my child was able to feel more empowered and begin taking ownership of their own struggles. This episode is for parents who are trying their best but feel stuck in survival mode. We talk about how to recognize fear-driven parenting patterns and how moving toward a more anchored approach can change the tone of your relationship and support your child's growth.Learn how to be a solid anchor for your child in my free series. The day I saw Felisha's first post in my Instagram community I was definitely concerned. Her despair was so thick, her hope so low. This is precisely the reason that I have been so inspired by her journey. This was supposed to be a Real Time Heal, but it quickly turned into a success story. Felicia's dire diagnoses, alongside her total unwillingness to stop searching, has led to an amazing transformation in her. This is about more than pain - it's about waking up and living your best life. I know every one of us will take away great inspiration from Felisha's story. XOOX n. Anxiety is something every leader deals with. The best leaders learn to recognize and manage it before it becomes contagious and spreads in their organization. In this episode, Andy Stanley and Steve Cuss explore why many leaders don’t recognize anxiety in themselves until it begins shaping their teams and culture. You’ll discover how false needs like control, perfectionism, and people-pleasing fuel reactivity—and why unmanaged anxiety is contagious. This conversation equips leaders with practical tools to respond with clarity, create emotionally healthy environments, and lead without transferring their anxiety to others. Today we're gonna talk about some Buddhist hacks for two deeply related and all too common ailments: anxiety and overthinking. Most of us have struggled with one or both of these, and one of the people who has helped Dan the most is Joseph Goldstein. Regular listeners to this podcast will be familiar with Joseph and his very direct, very down-to-earth style, but if you don't know – let us introduce you. He's one of the foremost Buddhist teachers in the west, he's been Dan's teacher for about 15 years, and Dan's recently convinced him to write a book together, using a collection of these little phrases that he's cooked up over the years. Dan's been keeping a list of around a hundred or so tiny, useful phrases – bite-sized wisdom for meditation practice and for daily life. The book won't be out for a few years, but we're conducting a series of interviews with him, each one covering a few phrases, and we'll be releasing those here on the podcast. The first installment of these interviews about Joseph's phrases just came out on Thursday, Jan. 1, and you don't have to listen to that episode for this episode to make sense, but they are useful together. Today, we'll be covering: The practice assessment tapes Whatever works Cowboy Dharma Dead end Is this useful And a quartet about walking meditation: sensations moving through space, walking through space, walking in a dream, walking through the mind Don't worry if those don't make sense right now – stick with us and you'll get a thorough explanation of where those phrases all come from and how they can help.
