"To be able to say, yeah, I get it. It's tough, right? It's a hard spot to be in, to be there, and it's actually pretty typical. It's not a sign you're doing it wrong. It's not just you."Karen & Paul discuss how individuals in corporate and community settings often feel isolated in their challenges, thinking it's just them.  They emphasize the importance of normalizing these feelings by sharing and surfacing common problems in structured spaces. This reduces shame and anxiety, making it easier to address issues collaboratively. They suggest that managers and community members can create environments where these discussions can take place.

This is a special collaborative episode with Ulrika Sullivan from the New Light Living podcast. Instead of me interviewing Ulrika, we enjoy asking for and giving our perspectives on topics related to our spiritual journey and how we find it easiest to live from the soul while still being on this human ride! Ulrika and I have a very similar backstory - we both even had our bustling careers in the biomedical space at the same sort of time, and we both struggled to balance raising a family while going full throttle with our careers.  We share our personal transformations from corporate and scientific backgrounds to becoming voices of spiritual awakening and authenticity. We also discuss our books—my 'Your Authentic Awakening' and Ulrika's 'Wisdom Beyond What You Know'—and touch on the importance of integrating spiritual practices into everyday life.  Key topics in this episode include meditation, creativity, galactic astrology, and the role of nature in spiritual growth. The episode emphasizes the power of collaboration, authenticity, and curiosity in one's path to self-discovery and alignment. Bio: Ulrika Sullivan is a former scientist turned author, intuitive spiritual life coach, and galactic astrologer. She is passionate about helping people connect with their intuition, energy, and multidimensional selves to find inner calm, self-love, and life balance so that they can live from the heart with more ease and flow.  Ulrika is the author of Wisdom Beyond What You Know: How to Shift from Being Driven by the Mind to Living from the Heart and Intuition, the host of the New Light Living - See Your Life in a New Light podcast, and the creator of Beyond The Mind Membership on her YouTube channel. In this episode, John talks to Anthony Barlow, Principal Lecturer and the subject leader for Geography Education at the University of Roehampton. Primary education is a precious time for children to spend time with each other, time in their locality and time with their teacher guiding them and letting them explore. That's the crucial point - from 'sustained shared thinking', to focused, framed and facilitated enquiries (Garner, Pickford and Jackson, 2013) as they get older, spending time outside, there is value and power in the repeated visit. Get your children outside, don't be scared by fieldwork - you might be surprised by how much looking through the window, circling the school buildings and walking your local perimeter can actually tell you about what they see, hear and think about your local geographies. Coaches are not always needed!

Hey Family Brand! It's Chris and Melissa here, and today we're diving into something that has been incredibly meaningful for our family lately—creating shared experiences through service. If you've ever felt like life is moving too fast and you're struggling to connect as a family, this episode is for you. We're sharing our recent experience feeding the homeless, how it impacted our kids, and why we're making service a bigger priority in 2025. One of our biggest takeaways from this experience? Service is like medicine. It shifts the focus away from ourselves and helps us see the bigger picture. It builds gratitude, strengthens our core values, and brings us together in a way that few other things do. We've always talked about the importance of being intentional with our family culture, and this was a perfect example of how shared experiences create a deeper sense of identity and belonging. We also talk about how we planned this experience using JustServe.org, a website that connects families with local service opportunities. Whether you're looking for a one-time event or want to make service a regular part of your family's routine, this is a great place to start. And if you don't have time to plan something big? That's okay. Even small, everyday acts of service—helping a neighbor, cooking a meal, or simply being more present for someone—can have a huge impact. Another takeaway? If it's not on the calendar, it won't happen. We've learned that good intentions aren't enough—we need to schedule service opportunities just like we would a vacation or a family dinner. This week, we're challenging our kids to pick our next family service project, giving them ownership in the process. We'll report back on how it goes! So here's your challenge—how can you create more shared experiences in your family? Whether it's a service project, a trip, or just making time for regular family meals, intentionality is everything. Take some time this week to talk about it, put something on the calendar, and make it happen! In this episode we discuss the significance of building relationships over simply producing better content to achieve audience growth. While many podcasters believe the secret to audience growth lies in creating superior content, the true key lies in fostering better relationships with your audience. AUDIENCE GROWTH STARTS WITH YOU Content serves as the initial attraction, but it's the bond between the podcaster and listeners that keeps people coming back for more. People come to your podcast for your content. They stay for you. My recent trip to Walmart is a perfect example. The lack of human interaction made shopping frustrating. I share that story in this episode. Compare your experiences at Walmart to the magical, emotion-filled experiences at Disney World. Disney delivers exceptional customer service and relationships that make all the difference. Strong relationships can create memorable experiences, which is crucial for achieving audience growth in podcasting. HAVE A CLEAR PLAN We also talk about the importance of having a plan and a clear objective for achieving audience growth. In this episode, I show you how shared experiences and emotional bonds can build a community. Following a structured, step-by-step approach, taught by my mentor Iman Aghay, led to significant and quick growth within my own business. It is critical to your audience growth success that you have a plan. According to available data, studies suggest that around 70% of businesses that survive for five years have a documented business plan. How does that apply to your growth. You don't necessarily need a formal MBA business plan. It just means a significant majority of successful businesses rely on a formal plan to achieve their objectives. DON'T GROW TOO SOON Executing a strategic plan can lead to audience growth. But, avoid premature growth, which can lead to failure if the product isn't ready for the market. Marketing expert David Ogilvy famously said, "Great marketing only makes a bad product fail faster." Ensure your content is engaging and ready to convert first-time listeners into loyal audience members before you aggressively pursue audience growth strategies. AUDIENCE GROWTH THROUGH COACHING To help you achieve your audience growth objectives, join me for a one-on-one coaching session. Together we will craft and outline a customized strategy specific for your situation. I've seen my biggest growth in my business when I've focused on the next most important thing. Dream big, plan the work, and take action. Let me help you with a coaching call. Together, we will build your audience growth strategy. Fostering Shared Experiences Through Mixed-Use Development

Edie Weintraub, founder and managing director with terra alma, joins host Carol Morgan for this week's Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio episode. In this podcast segment, Weintraub discusses how terra alma is prioritizing retail and recreation in mixed-use development to foster shared experiences among residents. Live-Work-Play Weintraub recently worked on a 600-acre mixed-use project in Austin, Texas. The community is a phased 10-year build, so one of the challenges was finding a way to provide retail to residents who move in early on. Alongside a team of urban planners, landscapers and architects, Weintraub developed a plan to build in retail incrementally. First, a model home and pocket park were put in, then an Airstream that conveniently sells coffee in the mornings and small bites and drinks in the evenings. She emphasizes that this is just the first phase of the community, there are still plans for a town green, a micro food hall and much more. The addition of a local market in mixed-use developments, especially with its own subscription service, is a great asset for families and working professionals. “If I have a subscription service for maybe one or two meals a week, it frees me up to perhaps go to my son's water polo game or spend some more time with my other son prepping for the pie he wants to make for his school fundraiser,” said Weintraub. “And so just really incorporating the thought process of how we're living today into the community, to pull the people out of their homes, apartments or condos and really get back together.” Greenspaces are also a key component, providing residents with an accessible connection to nature. Weintraub points out that many families don't have time to mow their lawns or do landscaping, leading developers to create smaller yards and more extensive community gardens and parks. Residents also value walkability, and it's important for retail and recreation like coffee shops, grocery stores and gyms to be within walking distance. Exciting Projects on the Atlanta Beltline “What I love about it is that for Atlanta, we don't have a beach, but we do have a beautiful river, and it's kind of tucked away, but our Beltline has become our boardwalk, our beachfront property.” terra alma has partnered with a client on developing Yuji, a sushi restaurant at the base of an office building. Sitting on the edge of the Atlanta Beltline, the restaurant will stay busy thanks to its location and covered, outdoor seating. The Beltline is a huge transportation passage, so as people walk, bike and rollerblade to and from work, Yuji and other businesses reap the benefits. Common Mistakes During Retail Development and How to Avoid Them Weintraub says that it's so important to bring in retail experts during the design process because it can make the integration of businesses simpler. Here are her top considerations for retail development: Width and depth of the space: If there is not enough room for operations, it will drive away potential leasees. Deliveries and Waste Disposal: Especially with restaurants and coffee shops, it is crucial to have a clear path for employees to receive shipments and take out the trash, but away from consumers' vision. Parking: This is always a concern with developments of all sizes, but more importantly, within mixed-use spaces. Weintraub recommends a clear navigation system, whether with color-coordination, visual aids or something creative. Although the goal is to promote walkable living, she said you must assume that people will be coming in and out by car and plan accordingly. In addition to her work with terra alma, Weintraub has also launched her own dinner series, “Table for 12,” which brings together 11 strangers and herself for a dinner of fellowship, connection and learning. She also helped relaunch and rebrand Women in Restaurants, which currently includes 400 women across the country. Women in the restaurant sector are invited to join the ...
