This week we're discussing every album by King Crimson from 1969 to 1974. Led by the legendary (and partially insane) Robert Fripp, King Crimson is one of the pioneers of prog rock, as well as one of the wildest and most influential bands of all time. This era of the band chronicles some of the most memorable albums in all of prog rock. But be warned, this is not a band that welcomes everyone. The insanity is real.Closing track” One More Red Nightmare” from Red (1974)Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/everyalbumeverMerchhttps://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/Mike's EP:Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,Mike on Instagram @pandermonkeyAlex on Bluesky @octatron3030Tom on Instagram @tomosmansoundsHistory Tom's stuff:Music on Spotify, ApplePodcast on Spotify, YouTubeSubstackWebsiteMike's Picks:In the Court of the Crimson King (1969) — Best AlbumRed (1974) — Personal FavoriteLarks' Tongues in Aspic (1973) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlex's Picks:Red (1974) — Best Album, Personal FavoriteIslands (1971) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlbums we discussed this episode…In the Court of the Crimson King (1969)In the Wake of Poseidon (1970)Lizard (1970)Islands (1971)Larks' Tongues in Aspic (1973)Starless and Bible Black (1974)Red (1974)

The fight is bigger than you—but so is the God who goes before you. In this message, Pastor James D. Gailliard continues the series Bible, Black History & Bigotry with a powerful reminder from Exodus 14:14: "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."Titled "Less Mouth, More Movement," this sermon challenges us to shift from speaking about change to stepping into it. We must discover that the battle isn't just personal but spiritual, deal with the fear that tries to hold us back, destroy the enemies that surround us, and desire the future that God has already prepared.Join us as we embrace faith over fear and move with purpose toward transformation.Support the showThank you for listening to this podcast! The struggle is real—but so is the power of truth. In this message, Pastor James D. Gailliard continues the series The Bible, Black History & Bigotry by confronting the hard reality that real change begins with acknowledging the truth. Luke 23:26 reminds us that struggle is not just a historical fact but a present reality—one that shapes our faith, our communities, and our future. When we face the truth head-on and take a stand, we move from suffering to transformation.

A New Student (tribal) Council In 30 parts, By FinalStand. Listen to the podcast at Explicit Novels. “If you can't look in a mirror and laugh at yourself, cut off the light” "Can we put other restrictions on you?" Simone Brady prodded. "This is not the 'Zane' show," Virginia Goodswell interjected. "We need to decide when the new Student government will meet, I suggest Tuesday nights, and how we are going to conduct business." "We can start by deciding where we meet," Chastity spoke up. "I vote for Zane's place." "What's wrong with the Assembly Hall, where we've always met?" Rhaine countered. "Rhaine, you are drinking a Doctor Pepper, KayLeigh, you are drinking a grape juice, and Joy was eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup when I got here," Hope snickered. "You have hot plates and microwaves too, if needed." Rhaine, Joy, and KayLeigh, all Traditionalists, looked guilty. They also looked like they treasured their creature comforts because they weren't running for the door. "It is a nice place," KayLeigh admitted. "And you don't get to come back up here otherwise," Rio grinned evilly. "This floor is devoted to the freshman class." "There are a lot of upperclassmen up here right now," Rhaine pointed out. "Those are what you would call 'friends'," Rio sneered. "If you weren't freaking evil, you might have some." "Please don't put it that way," I requested of Rio. Rio had every reason to be cranky. Mercy looked even more exhausted sitting at her side. "Zane will arrange the room to fit your needs," Christina finally spoke, "I guarantee it." "You think you can control him?" Rhaine shot back. "I'm not afraid of him; he's not some wild beast. I ask him to do things for me and he does," Christina chided Rhaine. "He is like any other freshman; it is that simple." "He's rather mouthy for a freshman," Hannah joked. "Well, maybe if you put my mouth to other uses," I bantered back. There was a moment of silence followed by Dana Gorman taking up her bottled water and walking over to me. She smiled down at my seated form while she poured out the remaining water onto my crown. "Cool off, Casanova," Dana cautioned me playfully before returning to her seat. "Exactly why do you keep her around again?" Rio slapped my shoulder. "Can you imagine how insufferable Christina would be if Coach didn't keep her in line?" I smiled. Christina rolled her eyes while Rio chuckled. Virginia stood up and cleared her throat. "I want to make sure that all the ladies, plus Zane, plan to make this experiment work. It is rather pointless to proceed if any of you can't be honest now," Virginia, my Spiritual Advisor, poled the audience. Most of the girls looked around to see who would do what but no one jumped. "I think it is safe to say that we students will stay true to the Vice Chancellor's plan, though this is not an endorsement of Zane, his conduct, or even his continued presence here," Rhaine spoke for the group. "With that settled, we can call it a night," Doctor Kennedy declared. "Ladies, consider what issues we need to deal with so we can bring them up next Tuesday night, 9 pm." "Who do we send the itinerary to?" Simone inquired. "Zane," Hudson Lane volunteered me. "I nominate Faith De Young (of Christina's inner circle) to be our Secretary of Record, if she wants the job," I said. Faith looked completely taken off-guard but nodded quickly. "I'll do it," she made clear. The meeting broke up soon after with most of the student leadership departing. Dana, Hudson, and Christina & company hung around a little longer. "Not the Glamorous Gremlin?" Rio teased me on my choice of Secretary. She gasped and nearly fell over right after that. Iona smiled softly and shook her head. She realized that she was still a freshman and her day would come. "Ah, here's one of the controllers," Heaven gave a devilish smile as she handed the device over to Rio. Miraculously, the other three sexual wonders were also handed over, ending the threat of torture for the day. "I see a spanking machine in you bitches' future," Rio snarled at Chastity, Hope, Heaven, Faith, and Christina. "I swear, I tried to get one of those damn things all day long," Valarie griped. "You would think that after setting this up, someone would have given me one, but no, I am a freshman so I don't get to play the game." "It was you!" Rio screamed, and lunged at Valarie, who comically batted her away as Vivian and Mercy intervened. "Yes," Val laughed, "but it was Iona who figured out how to have captured your days by enlisting the aid of classmates with video phones. I can tell today's footage is going to be a classic." "Why did you do it?" Vivian asked Valarie. "I had revenge on Rio and made Mercy ecstatically happy; it was a win-win," Val grinned vindictively. It was a credit to Rio's berserk nature that no one asked what Rio had done to warrant revenge; everyone automatically assumed that Valarie was justified. "Everyone's sympathy is under-whelming," Rio grumbled. "Come on, Mercy, let's get these things off." "Do we have to?" Mercy pleaded softly. Hell, I imagine she could barely stand but apparently, her limit to sexual overstimulation was unconsciousness. Rio used one finger to hook Mercy's collar and pulled her close. "How dare you talk back," Rio whispered, but I was close enough to hear. "I was going to settle for the vibrating nipple clamps that arrived today but now I'm thinking a few dozen paddle blows, to each cheek, are in your future, you annoying little bitch." Annoying was Mercy and Rio's code word for 'love'; Rio simply couldn't stand the 'L' word. "Vibrating nipple clamps?" Christina was both confused and amused. "Where do you people come up with this stuff?" "Adam and Eve," Rio shot back without batting an eye. "Wait until I have Mercy's nipples and lips pierced; then the real fun begins." "I don't think Mercy should have her lips pierced," Vivian suggested forcefully. "They'd be glaringly obvious." Rio groaned and sighed. "Not those lips," Rio clarified. "The other ones, you know, labia, cunt lips, cunt etc." There was a pregnant pause in the room. "Attach vibrator wires to those bad boys and Wow! Let the magic begin." Mercy and Rio really were made for each other; they were both salivating at the prospect. Thankfully, I saw Cassandra hovering around and looking ready for me to start playing towel boy. "Ladies, one last duty to perform and then my day is done," I attempted my exit. "Zane, is it alright if I spend the night?" Hope ambushed me. "Of course," I smiled, because I'm a fucking idiot who is an embarrassment to the very concept of the mentally challenged and a parody of every teen boy date flick. I was already spending time with Iona, Paige, Barbie Lynn, and now Hope. Maybe I can find a way to have a secret government space array shoot an earthquake laser at my feet so a pit opens up underneath me and I plummet to a fiery death at the Earth's core. Maybe I watch too much bad TV. "Iona, did my Viagra arrive yet," I teased my

Ex-King Crimson Violinist David Cross Announces the Release of New Studio Album “Ice Blue, Silver Sky” OUT NOW! Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. Initially inspired by Leadbelly, the Beatles, Bartok, Coltrane and his church organist father, David became an irrepressible improvisor and experimenter. His subsequent immersion in rock music introduced him to a new, vast pool of expressive possibilities. Currently, he plays a half fretted Violectra electric violin with 5 strings and an octave drop pedal, giving him a pitch range from the bottom of the cello to the top of the violin. David Cross was a member of King Crimson during the 1970s and continues to have a loyal fan base. He's best known for playing violin on the albums “Larks' Tongues in Aspic” and “Starless and Bible Black”. The musicians featured on his new album “Ice Blue, Silver Sky” include Jinian Wilde, Mick Paul, Steve Roberts and a special guest appearance on two tracks by David Jackson of Van Der Graaf Generator. This new studio album features new tracks along with new recordings of the two classic King Crimson tracks “Exiles” and “Starless”. The album title refers to a lyric in Starless and King Crimson lyricist Richard Palmer-James contributes to the lyrics on this album. VYS0029 | If There's Something Strange In Your Neighbourhood - Vayse to Face to Face with Field Lines Cartographer and Bob Freeman: Halloween 2023 - Show Notes Four middle-aged men bravely join forces to confront ancient evils, spooks, spectres and ghosts - ok, so, Vayse did Ghostbusters last Halloween but instead, this year, Hine and Buckley welcome back master of the liminal soundscape, Field Lines Cartographer and the Occult Detective himself, Bob Freeman to sit around the virtual camp fire as they each tell a ghost story from their home towns. FLC tells a tale of Warwickshire plague pits and feelings of stalking dread in the dark, Hine recounts a gruesome murder in Preston which led to bloody revenge from beyond the grave, Bob spins a classic American yarn of haunted houses in the deep, dark woods of rural Indiana and Buckley tells of the spirit of a young boy who haunts the picturesque town of Great Corby bringing those who encounter him great fortune followed by certain death. The conversation also turns to whether ghosts are actually, really all that scary, the differences between ghost stories in the UK and the US, the nature of reality itself (of course, this is Vayse)... and digitally transported flies... (Recorded 10 October 2023) Thanks again to Keith for the show notes and thanks to everyone for listening - please tell a friend (or benignly neutral acquaintance) and ask them to do the same! Check Playlist This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with musician Joey Belladonna. Joey is best known as the singer for the band Anthrax. He also played with bands like Bible Black and Chief Big Way. During the show he discussed his memories of Anthrax appearing on Married… with Children, his thoughts on the possibility of Anthrax making it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and his Journey cover band Beyond Frontiers. See Anthrax and Beyond Frontiers at a venue near you! During the rest of the show we explained why Eric Clapton is awful, tried to figure out why we aren't considered as metal as other shows, and Dustin spoiled the ending of the film Expend4bles. Sorry ‘bout that! https://youtu.be/RQty0OEsptM?si=21xGkzsM7H1koW6l

A few months ago a friend and I were talking about King Crimson & Robert Fripp. He is not as familiar with Fripp's work as I am so I started a playlist of not just Crimson tracks but also other excellent Fripp guitar work with other artists such as Brian Eno, David Bowie, David Sylvian, Hall & Oates(yes, Hall & Oates!) & others. This week I decided to finally make a mix of some of the tracks. I wasn't sure if or when I'd post it online. Then this morning I see that today, Oct. 19th, is the global premiere of the King Crimson documentary "In The Court Of The Crimson King: King Crimson at 50". What a perfect coincidence! I guess that makes the decision for me about when to post the mix. So here it is - a collection of some of my favorite Fripp guitar work. In order to keep the length manageable I had to leave out some great tracks like Bowie - Heroes, King Crimson - Lark's Tongue is Aspic, Talking Heads - I Zimbra, Fripp & Eno Heavenly Music Corp. & several others. I think the tracks I settled on cover a wide range and fit together nicely over the 84 minutes of the mix. If anyone is interested the documentary will be shown in a special streaming event this weekend on Oct. 22nd. Here's the link - https://www.nugs.net/live-download-of-king-crimson-in-the-court-of-the-crimson-king.-king-crimson-at-50.-london-gb-10-22-2022-mp3-flac-or-online-music-streaming/621290-WEBCASTVARIANT.html Cheers! Evangelical Christian women of colour were the kingmakers in Brazil's last presidential election. In May, a corruption conviction that barred the former left wing President from running was quashed on a technicality. And the stage is now set for an epic election showdown where experts say it's women of colour who will have the deciding vote. But after four years in power, will they turn a blind eye to Jair Bolsonaro's comments that some consider misogynistic and racist? In ‘The Bible, Black women and Brazil', Lebo Diseko travels to Brazil for Heart and Soul from the BBC World Service, to find out if their vote may deliver the President his second victory.
In this first study of Black radicalism in midwestern cities before the civil rights movement, Melissa Ford connects the activism of Black women who championed justice during the Great Depression to those involved in the Ferguson Uprising and the Black Lives Matter movement. A Brick and a Bible: Black Women's Radical Activism in the Midwest During the Great Depression (Southern Illinois UP, 2022) examines how African American working-class women, many of whom had just migrated to “the promised land” only to find hunger, cold, and unemployment, forged a region of revolutionary potential. A Brick and a Bible theorizes a tradition of Midwestern Black radicalism, a praxis-based ideology informed by but divergent from American Communism. Midwestern Black radicalism that contests that interlocking systems of oppression directly relates the distinct racial, political, geographic, economic, and gendered characteristics that make up the American heartland. This volume illustrates how, at the risk of their careers, their reputations, and even their lives, African American working-class women in the Midwest used their position to shape a unique form of social activism. Case studies of Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, and Cleveland—hotbeds of radical activism—follow African American women across the Midwest as they participated in the Ford Hunger March, organized the Funsten Nut Pickers' strike, led the Sopkin Dressmakers' strike, and supported the Unemployed Councils and the Scottsboro Boys' defense. Ford profoundly reimagines how we remember and interpret these “ordinary” women doing extraordinary things across the heartland. Once overlooked, their activism shaped a radical tradition in midwestern cities that continues to be seen in cities like Ferguson and Minneapolis today. This is the Burning Ambulance podcast's sixth year, and our seventieth episode, so I decided it was time to change things up a little. This season, we're going to have a single subject we're going to be exploring through all ten episodes that I'm going to be presenting, and that theme is fusion.Fusion is a very charged term. When most people hear it, in reference to music, anyway, they probably think of bands from the 1970s like the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, and Weather Report: groups formed by ex-members of Miles Davis's band that combined a certain freedom to improvise with extremely complex compositions that were closer to progressive rock than to jazz. I mean, when you listen to the first two Mahavishnu Orchestra albums, The Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire, side by side with King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Starless and Bible Black, they really fit together quite well. I mean, they're even using the same instrumental palette: guitar, violin, keyboards, bass, drums. The only real difference is that King Crimson had a singer. What interests me about fusion, the term and the concept, is that it lives up to something saxophonist Wayne Shorter, one of the co-founders of Weather Report, has said many times — that to him, the word jazz means “I dare you”. I dare you to play as loud as the rock bands. I dare you to embrace funk and multi-part suites and the most advanced studio production techniques available. I dare you to go big, to be ambitious. Because that's what the best fusion of the 1970s was, and what modern-day fusion is. It's ambitious. It doesn't recognize externally imposed limitations, people saying “you can't do that”. Why not? Why can't you? It refuses to stay within the boundaries of genre. It's not jazz, it's not rock, because there's no such thing as jazz and no such thing as rock. One of the things I discovered, or became more certain of, while writing my book Ugly Beauty: Jazz in the 21st Century, which is out this month from Zero Books in the UK, is that jazz is ultimately about artistic intention. There's no one instrument or rhythm or harmonic relationship that defines it, but there are two crucial values: innovation and improvisation. There must be an attempt to do something new, or to put a new spin on something old, and there must be an element of uncertainty and a real-time exchange of ideas, or in the case of solo performances, there must be an element of real-time thinking and spontaneous creation. Because it's absolutely possible to play something that startles or surprises yourself, and then respond to it.So fusion is about taking ideas from seemingly disparate genres and combining them. And taking the philosophies that govern those seemingly disparate genres and figuring out what they have in common. That's what the Seventies artists did, and that's what modern-day fusion acts are doing. I would include people like Thundercat, Cameron Graves, Christian Scott and even Kassa Overall, who's been on this podcast before, in that category. And that's what we're going to be talking about all year long on this podcast, through interviews with prominent fusion artists of the past and present. Many people may not think of Jeff Mills as a fusion artist. He's normally thought of as one of the most important musicians in techno history. I'm not gonna run down his discography here, that's what Wikipedia's for, but suffice it to say that his influence in the 1990s was massive, but what makes him interesting to me is that he's taken the creative space his fame has brought him and used it to really expand his own sonic parameters. He's made an album with a full orchestra. He's created new scores for silent films. He's made albums inspired by astronomy, science fiction, and his interest in the supernatural. And he's collaborated with musicians who are geniuses in their own fields. In 2018, he made an album called Tomorrow Comes the Harvest with legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. And that project led to the first of the three albums he put out in 2021. It's called Counter Active, and it's a collaboration with keyboardist Jean-Philippe Dary under the name The Paradox. The second album he released this year was called The Clairvoyant, and it's about two hours long — if you buy it on vinyl, it's three LPs, and he says that the best way to experience it is to lie back in the dark and listen to the whole thing from beginning to end. It arises out of his interest in spiritualism at the beginning of the 20th century and his perception of the similarities and connections between that era and now. That's one of the topics we discuss in the interview you're about to hear, in fact. And I have to admit I was surprised by how willing, even eager, he was to discuss social issues. A lot of electronic music is deliberately anonymous, deliberately emotionally blank — it's a canvas on which you can paint your own feelings. But it also reflects broader social conditions, as any art produced by human beings inevitably must. Detroit techno represented the frustration and anger, as well as the hopes and dreams, of the citizens of that city, and Underground Resistance, a collective Mills formed with Mike Banks and Robert Hood, was explicitly political, taking on social conditions in their city and the overall politics of the music industry. The third album Jeff Mills put out in 2021 was The Override Switch, a collaboration with Rafael Leafar, who plays a number of instruments on the record, including tenor, alto, soprano and baritone saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet, contra-alto clarinet, flute, cornet, and a wide range of keyboards. The music they make together is fusion in the purest and most genuine sense: the rhythmic steadiness of electronic music combined with the melodic and harmonic adventurousness of jazz. The individual pieces, and the album as a whole, take the listener on a real journey. And frankly, on a purely sonic level, I find it easy to draw lines between this and the music that people like Stanley Clarke and George Duke were making in the 1970s.Anyway, I feel extremely lucky to have gotten the chance to talk to Jeff Mills for an hour. He's an incredibly busy guy, so tracking him down was a challenge, and the day we were initially scheduled to talk, he had to run from Paris to London, so we moved it, and then when I did catch him, I thought he was still in Paris but it turned out he had returned to London, which meant I was calling him an hour later than expected. Still, it was a fascinating conversation that went in some really unexpected directions. I hope you enjoy listening to it.Music featured in this episode:The Paradox, "Super Solid" (Counter Active)Jeff Mills, "Someone Who Feels Things" (The Clairvoyant)Jeff Mills & Rafael Leafar, "The Sun King" (The Override Switch)

David Cross is best known as a member of King Crimson on the “Larks' Tongues in Aspic” and “Starless and Bible Black” albums. He also leads the David Cross Band and has been a guest artist, recording and performing live with a number of international groups including Stick Men. Andrew Keeling is a composer and musician whose contemporary classical works have been internationally acclaimed. Besides working with David Cross he has also orchestrated the music of Robert Fripp (The Wine of Silence), arranged for Tim Bowness (Abandoned Dancehall Dreams) as well as playing with alt-rock band, The Gong Farmers. Keeling has also written a series of Musical Guides exploring the music of such bands as King Crimson. “October is Marigold” is the second album from David Cross (electric violin) and Andrew Keeling (flute) and it is the third to appear on Noisy Records' ‘Electric Chamber Music' label. Perhaps more strikingly than its predecessors, this recording epitomizes the aims of that label to present music designed for an intimate setting which makes use of musical and electronic techniques used in rock. Cross and Keeling's “English Sun” was released in 2009 (followed by a handful of gigs) and the duo recorded much of “October is Marigold” in the same year. These tracks lay dormant until 2020 when work recommenced on the new album. It's a whapwowserbowser of an episode as we muse on the possibilities of using tech to flip through our memories, inspiring our guts with some new shit, and the origins of Fievel - did he come from Bible Black? Then we watch the 2014 Chinese-made A Touch of Sin, a 4-story anthology of class struggles in different areas of China. We learn that classism is the same, but different, everywhere in the world. And now we are done with that depressing theme.

Manda brings J back to talk about sexuality. J is a pastor who never quite felt at home in church, an artist who figured out the sermon is his song, and a teacher who still has some questions. He studied theology at the University of Notre Dame. This episode is for anyone who's ever said: "BUT THE BIBLE IS CLEAR!" Here is the sermon referenced in the episode.
Some things that have helped me when I've felt stuck reading the Bible.

So much WTF it had to be told in two parts. Minase and Imari get close, the word rape is used a lot, we finally see the wrath of a sidechick and all's well that ends on a cliffhanger. As you guessed NSFW!!!!!!!
We start off 2016 of BAM with a bang. Get it...BANG....anyway, time for the main storyline of the game/hentai Bible Black. More sex, more bad lines, more reasons to question God. VERY NSFW but you already knew that. Sit back and enjoy and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't go to the Art Room!
