Have you ever asked yourself: "I bring home the check, I do chores... why is my wife still overwhelmed and distant?" "What is this 'mental load' she talks about, and why don't I see it?" "How can I truly partner with her, instead of just 'helping'?" If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "But I am helping!" or "She's upset but I have no idea why," this episode will give you the X-ray vision you've been missing. Because what's wearing her out isn't always what's on your radar—it's the things you never even thought about. Here's the truth most men miss: providing financially is one form of leadership—but emotional labor is the currency she's drowning in. And if you don't see it, you're likely part of the reason she feels alone in the mission. This episode is your wake-up call. Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: Invisible Labor vs. Physical Effort: Understand the critical difference. Physical labor is what you see (dishes, yardwork, laundry). Invisible labor is the mental burden she carries: managing the family calendar, remembering RSVPs, planning meals, tracking groceries, anticipating everyone's emotional needs. She's exhausted that she had to remember it in the first place, not just that you didn't do the thing. Why Your Wife Feels Like She's Doing It All (Even When You're Helping): Most men step in reactively, not proactively. When you wait to be told what to do, you're reinforcing her role as the default parent, default planner, default everything. If you've heard or sensed, "I feel like the only adult in this house," this is the root cause. How to Show Leadership at Home (Without Being Controlling): You're not a passive assistant; you're a co-leader. Leadership means taking initiative with empathy. Learn proactive phrases like, "What's something I can fully own without being asked?" or "I'll handle the kids' end-of-year school stuff." The 2-Minute Audit: How to Find What She Resents Without Asking Her Directly: Every week, take two minutes to ask yourself five key questions: What has she had to ask me more than once? What mental task have I seen her doing that I've never offered to take on? If I got sick for a week, what would stop? If she got sick for a week, what would collapse? What do I expect her to “just handle” because I'm used to it? Your attention to what she's carrying is the answer—and the invitation to step up. This episode will challenge you to redefine "helping" and step into true co-leadership at home. Here's what research and observation highlight about emotional labor in relationships: Studies show that women typically take on 60-80% of the invisible labor in households, leading to higher rates of burnout. Marriages where the emotional load is perceived as unequally distributed have a 45% higher risk of marital dissatisfaction. Couples who actively practice shared responsibility for planning and mental tasks report a 30% increase in relationship satisfaction and feelings of partnership. www.thedadedge.com/friday212 www.thedadedge.com/mastermind
Too many of you worship women. You put them on a pedestal, supplicate to them—and you know who hates it the most? Women! They want a man they can look up to, who has the confidence and competence to lead them to where they want to be led. So when you put yourself in a position of inferiority, you immediately become unattractive. In this episode, you'll learn how to correctly frame your interactions with women so you can stop exuding inferiority and start acting like the king you are, and the king she wants you to be. Three top sales leaders go deep on the tough stuff: getting promoted, standing out, coaching reps at scale, and whether commission is dead. If you're trying to grow your career or your team, this episode is a goldmine!
Terrell Suggs, affectionately known as “T-Sizzle,” is a legendary NFL linebacker, Super Bowl champion, and Defensive Player of the Year whose relentless play and leadership have defined a generation of Baltimore Ravens football. Growing up in the competitive football environment of Minnesota before starring at Arizona State, Suggs translated his early drive into a pro career marked by grit, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field. Now retired, Suggs devotes himself to fatherhood, taking as much pride in supporting his children as he did anchoring one of the NFL’s most feared defenses. Takeaways: Fatherhood Comes First: Despite his on-field achievements, Terrell emphasizes that his true “because” is his children, striving to be an even better dad than he was a football player. Leadership Is Learned and Passed On: Suggs credits mentors like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed for shaping his leadership style, highlighting the importance of learning from and supporting your team. Resilience and Self-Reflection: Success, whether on the field or in life, requires self-checking, owning one’s actions, and playing chess—always thinking a few moves ahead. Sound Bites: "We're not just professional athletes—we're fathers first." "A leader would never ask someone to do what he wouldn't do himself." "If you want an autograph, get theirs—I'm just Dad now." Quote by Mick: "If Suggs lined up beside you, you were getting it all. If he was in the huddle, no questions asked, you getting everything." Humans are built to rise. And you'll be most alive when you detect your Cause. Your mighty purpose could be to launch a startup that upgrades society or build an enterprise that dominates your domain. It could be to save the world or help kids who are hurting. All noble works. But, your Mount Everest or a Magnificent Mission could also be to quietly leave people better than you found them or incrementally and consistently turn fear into power and worry into wisdom via personal development (get up at 5am!). The key is to get stuck on some exciting calling that causes you to forget about your pains and enrol your gifts around something that matters. Once you do so your sleeping passion will erupt. This is what my latest book The Wealth Money Can't Buy is all about. Real wealth versus fake success. True winning versus spending your life climbing a mountain, only to find out at the end that it was the wrong one. This fiery segment unpacks the “No Kings” rally in Spartanburg—organized by Upstate South Carolina Democratic Socialists—as a symbolic flashpoint in a broader ideological battle. While the event invokes Revolutionary War themes, the speaker rebukes the group for co-opting the language of liberty to push socialist goals, accusing them of undermining the very rights won in 1776. The commentary then escalates to explosive allegations about Democrat leaders, cartel ties, and violent protests in Los Angeles. The speaker claims the recent ICE raids were criminal investigations into money laundering, not immigration enforcement, and that Democrat officials, including LA Mayor Karen Bass, actively obstructed law enforcement to protect cartel-linked interests. Backed by LAPD leaks and UK media reports, the episode paints a picture of federal agents trapped and abandoned, as local leadership stands in solidarity with anti-ICE demonstrators. From surveillance of federal agents' families to the alleged political weaponization of protests, this segment portrays a chilling confrontation between federal authority and entrenched political power.

True leadership starts with a heart of honor. Servant leadership, humility, and valuing relationships are key to accessing greater authority and opportunity. If you want to lead well and rise with purpose, it begins by honoring up—because how you honor becomes the foundation of how you lead.
I found a couple of posts that really focused on some points that I think we need to have more examples of in our world. The first one was from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) where we are reminded about some things that really “Speaks loudest” when it comes to helping to make a difference with others. This post goes on to share these things that do have a “loud voice”: “It's not your wallet, your title or your status. It's how you treat others that speak the loudest.” The second connection came from Coach AJ Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) where he shares this classic reminder from one of the greats of any sport and all of history - “John Wooden said, “Helping others is perhaps the greatest joy! You cannot have a perfect day without helping others with no thought of getting something in return.” Acts of service enrich our lives. It means selflessness, kindness, and serving. Serving is a reward by itself.” Awesome thoughts for all of us to be better for ourselves and for others too! Thanks for listening. This week Jim's guest on The CMO Podcast is Carrie Palin, the SVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Cisco, the $55 billion by revenue tech leader, whose purpose is to leverage technology, people, and broader networks to solve society's greatest challenges. Cisco is on quite a roll–its stock is up about 40% in the last year. Carrie never took a marketing class in school, and never even imagined she would be a top tech B2B marketer, let alone the CMO of one of the world's great companies. But serendipity happened, and Carrie said yes to IBM coming out of TCU, and began a tech marketing career that took her to Dell, Box, Splunk, and now Cisco. Carrie has had a remarkable run in her four years as Cisco's CMO, which we will talk about. What's the big deal? You're just standing up there, talking. On this week's episode of the For The Church Podcast, Jared Wilson and Ross Ferguson suggest some things about preaching the average church member may not know. Some misunderstandings, misperceptions, and even mis-aimed appreciations.
Remember Donna the Deer Lady, and her call to a radio talk show that electrified the nation? To refresh your memory, she was wondering why the highway department place the "Deer Crossing" signs at the busiest sections, where the deer were most likely to get hit by a moving vehicle. “Why are we encouraging deer to cross at the interstate? I don't get it. That's a high- traffic area,” she said. That's exactly the kind of oddball story that grabbed me from minute one with Todd Cherches — a man equipped to wring out profound and useful truths from tales like that one.Todd is not your typical leadership guru—he earned his stripes in Hollywood, teaching actors how to deliver scenes, and later as a project manager sketching theme parks in China. These days, he coaches executives and trains leaders using what he calls visual leadership—a way to help people "see" what you're talking about, not just hear it.In this episode, Todd unpacks how metaphors sneak into everyday chat (“Feed me, Seymour!” anyone?), why a CEO fetching potato chips for the staff says more about leadership than a big speech, and how to stay real and connected when half your team is working in slippers on Zoom.Show HighlightsHow a radio caller's confusion about a deer crossing sign turned into a killer leadership metaphorWhy metaphors are baked into 50–70% of our language—and how to notice when you're spooning them outTodd's Hollywood adventures—including delivering lunches for Aaron Spelling and battling Mt. Undefeated boxing champion and entrepreneur Laila Ali takes us ringside, then into the heart of what it means to belong. In this episode of Essential Habits, we uncover the deceptively simple practice her father, Muhammad Ali, modeled again and again: looking after the person no one else notices.Through Laila's stories, from waiting in queues of adoring fans to earning her father's reluctant blessing to box, we learn how true leadership is less about spotlight and more about presence. By tuning into the quiet moments and the people at the back of the line, we tap into a habit that transforms culture, boosts trust, and fuels high performance. In this episode, we explore:- Why 'the last person in line' matters more than the loudest voice- The neurobiology of inclusion and how exclusion literally hurts- Three simple shifts to build social awareness every day- How Laila earned her father's respect and claimed her own greatness- What high-performing teams gain when everyone feels seenWhether you lead a team, a family, or just want to notice people more fully, this episode shows why the smallest acts of attention can have the biggest impact.Listen to the full episode with Laila Ali: https://pod.fo/e/265de7Here is a link to more information on the studies referenced: 1. “Reality” is simply the possibility that a scared society has sold you.Often, when a visionary shares her ambition with the world, she's ridiculed. Mocked. And condemned. That's simply because any grand dream is so disruptive that it terrifies the status quo—the timid souls who would rather spend their lives in a tiny zone of security versus venturing out into the blue ocean of dazzling opportunity.Just because your idea/project/venture/screenplay/book/cause hasn't been done yet doesn't mean it cannot be now.Impossible is generally the untried, right? My latest book “The Wealth Money Can't Buy” is full of fresh ideas and original tools that I'm absolutely certain will cause quantum leaps in your positivity, productivity, wellness, and happiness. Episode Summary Genocide survivor, educator, and leadership consultant Dr. Emad Rahim joins host Cornelius Fichtner to share the S.A.L.T. model—Survive, Adaptation, Love, Transformation—a framework he forged while rebuilding his life from the Khmer Rouge killing fields to the executive boardroom. Rahim explains why acknowledging a “survival state” is the first step toward meaningful change and how project managers can move beyond firefighting into strategic growth by embracing adaptation through value-based decisions. He highlights the critical role of supportive networks (“love”) in sustaining momentum and shows how transformation becomes attainable when leaders combine clear goals with short- and long-term wins.
