Alessandra Celentanoundefined

Episode 143It's been 25 years since that fateful day when Bradford City threw a spanner in the works of Ipswich Town's Premier League dreams. As the football world turned its attention elsewhere, a simmering hatred was born in the hearts of the East Anglian faithful – a grudge that has since twisted and morphed like a vindictive caricature, finding new targets along the way.Enter Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, two Yorkshire clubs unsuspecting of their impending doom, yet unwitting pawns in Bradford's cosmic football vendetta. Yes, you heard it right – Bradford City, the unassuming Bantams, have been quietly pulling the strings from West Yorkshire all this time, orchestrating chaos in the football leagues and laughing all the way to Valley Parade.Picture this: a shadowy council of Bradfordians, adorned in claret and amber robes, plotting over cups of Tetley's tea, declaring, “Let's keep Ipswich out of the Premier League – just for kicks!” Little did they know the seismic ripple effect their actions would have over two decades later.Leeds United, perennial yo-yo club and once the darlings of English football, found themselves ensnared in Bradford's wicked web. The Bantams' mere existence seemed to irk Leeds supporters, who saw them as an annoying little cousin meddling in their affairs. As fate would have it, Bradford's unrelenting quest for chaos culminated in Leeds' relegation woes, leaving Elland Road in a state of bewilderment and mild disdain for anything claret and amber. But wait, there's more! Huddersfield Town, the Terriers of West Yorkshire, fell victim to Bradford's jinx as well. Bradford City, with their devious charm and underdog spirit, delivered the knockout blow that sent Huddersfield tumbling down to the depths of League One. Oh, the agony! The fury! The misplaced resentment towards those pesky Bantams! And here we are, 25 years later, scratching our heads and chuckling at the absurdity of it all. Bradford City, the unwitting instigators of football melodrama, couldn't care less about the mayhem they've caused. They're too busy sipping their Yorkshire tea and enjoying the view from mid-table obscurity.Meanwhile, Ipswich, Leeds, and Huddersfield fans stew in their own bitter brew of football conspiracy theories, pointing fingers at the claret and amber-clad miscreants from Bradford. “It's all their fault!” they cry, shaking their fists at the Yorkshire heavens. But deep down, amidst the banter and the rivalry, there's a begrudging respect for Bradford City – the cheeky upstarts who dared to disrupt the football hierarchy and live to tell the tale. After all, what's football without a bit of mischief and mayhem? So, here's to you, Bradford City – the accidental architects of chaos, the disruptors of destiny, and the perennial punchline of football lore. As the world turns and the football seasons ebb and flow, we'll always have Bradford to blame and a good laugh to go along with it. Because in the end, it's just a game – and Bradford City, well, they're playing it their way, claret and amber mischief and all.Music - The Zutons - Zuton FeverArctic Monkeys - Fake Tales of San FranciscoDandy Warhols - Bohemian Like YouSupport the Show.Insta@justpassingthroughpodcastContact:justpassingthroughpodcast@gmail.comArtwork @digitalnomadicart on Insta

Louise and Virginia have a great conversation about a lovely Western Australian novel. Salt River Road by the very talented debut author Molly Schmidt captures the large Tetley family at the worst time of their lives. Their wife and mother, Elena, has died after a long illness and left them all devastated. Although the book looks at grief through the eyes of several different characters, it has a forward-moving arc, plenty of heart, and a wonderful ending, with an authentic Western Australian, 1970s feel.BookSalt River Road by Molly Schmidt, 2023, published by Fremantle PressBinge TVStrifeNetflixThe Crown

Picture this - you are dug into the trenches in France during WW1, and suddenly a red double decker with a Tetley's tea advert trundles past. OK, we are being dramatic, but a large number of Transport for London's buses and drivers were shipped over to the continent during WW1. What happened to them? Did they come home?! And what happened in London in the absence of all these essential parts of London's infrastructure? Who will step into this role? In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana.
Q1: Your food business volumes are impacted. Is it because of inflation? Ans: >Tata's India food business is composed of salt and the Tata Sampann/Soulfull/ready-to-eat >Reasons for volume softness in salt in Q4 -Q4 volumes of last year that grew by 21% is a high base to cycle this year -Inflation in salt, followed by price rise in past nine months >Despite inflation, salt maintained margin for Q4 FY22 vs Q4 FY21 >Tata Sampann grew over 30% by value in Q4 FY22 >Starting from a zero-base, Tata Soulfull is growing at triple digits for past few months Q2: Have you been able to pass on the lower prices in tea to the consumers, and why's revenue is still impacted in the category? Ans: >As against overall beverages in India, Tata's tea revenues was -1% >Prices moved down for tea brands where prices have softened Q3: You had good margin in the quarter when rest of the sector struggled. Can you explain how you managed this kind of performance in the margin front? Ans: >Salt, tea and coffee are three major commodities that Tata Consumer Products buy >Apart from salt, prices of tea and coffee are looking to be range-bound now >Spike in commodity prices seen on categories which Tata Consumer Products is not heavily reliant on, like sunflower oil, palm oil, wheat etc >Made sure that execution and volume growth continues, despite price increase Q4: In your international markets performance, especially in tea, mobility has increased in these markets. That's why out-of-home consumption has picked up, and in-hone consumption has taken a hit. What is your strategy to improve black tea consumption in these markets? Ans: >Coffee business enjoys a stable market share, where price rise is in sync with coffee prices and the industry trends >International tea markets have normalised and returned to pre-Covid trends >Following three-brand strategy for international markets – putting Tetley, Good Earth and Teapigs under the same portfolio and expand >Beyond building brand image and improving execution for Tetley black tea, the next growth opportunities are in fruit and herbal specialty >Black tea as a category is under pressure in international markets, but the company has a share opportunity to equalise Q5: Starbucks had a strong opening of stores in the previous quarter. Will this continue for you going ahead? Ans: >Starbucks opened 50 stores during the last financial year. 23 stores opened in the last quarter >Background work was already done before reopening of the stores >Ambitions of accelerating store growth in India >Starbucks has 268 outlets in 26 cities of India Q6: In the Indian market, modern trade contribution has crossed Rs 1,000 crores. If you can touch upon quick commerce and also your D2C brands and your ecommerce business is evolving at this point in time. Ans: >Modern trade grew at 30% y-o-y and has crossed Rs 1,000 crores now >New businesses like Soulfull, Tata Q, Sampann etc are witnessing disproportionate shares and volume growth in the modern trade

CRMs have become the lifeblood of every sales organization. Being able to track and manage leads has grown far beyond mere record keeping—it's now an analytical tool that helps analyze performance, chart action, and so much more. And yet, often traditional CRMs themselves become a tool that must be managed, rather than an assistive partner. So Clint Oram started SugarCRM, a sales platform that offers detailed insights into customer relationships and predictive analysis. SugarCRM is helping companies such as Agfa, Tetley, and Tyson focus on customer relationships instead of managing technology.

Intro to the program gives background on the life and career of Walter Tetley. The track is the audition track of what they hoped would lead to Tetley's own radio network series, but it was not picked up. In "The Kid on the Block" Tetley plays a wisecracking newsboy. It was 1948 and President Truman was in for the political fight of his life... so some of the humor is built around the politics that was happening at the time. By the way, Tetley was 33 at the time this show was recorded. It will be in the "Comedy" Playlist on this podcast.
Darren (no Pete this week) chats with Newcastle Falcons legend Jamie Noon about his impressive career. Jamie talks me through breaking through to the Falcons first team and feeling like an imposter while doing so, how Inga the Winger helped him settle into the squad, and how important that Tetley's Bitter Cup Final was to him. We also hear about Jamie's first taste of international rugby on the 2001 Summer Tour of North America. As we continue through the years we hear Jamie discuss another cup win for the Falcons in 2004 (and a marriage proposal!), breaking into the England first team and an amazing hat trick against Scotland in the 6 Nations, and his disappointment at not receiving the call for Lions duty in 2005. Jamie also talks us through the 2007 World Cup and what it meant to represent his country on the highest stage. He also talks being tempted to France by Andy Goode and why he has stayed there in retirement. A great chat with a top guy, have a listen.

Sue shares a heart-warming story of growing up a young woman, meeting her life partner and then the natural progression to marriage and wanting children. Sue’s plan was on track until it came to become pregnant. Sue and her husband struggled to become pregnant, they then investigated IVF and other methods to achieve a natural birth. Unfortunately, all attempts to become pregnant failed, as you can imagine meeting this realisation is incredibly challenging. Being unable to conceive and become pregnant is something that affects many adults wanting to become pregnant. Sue talks us through the personal challenges this creates both individually and as a couple, how they overcame this and decided to adopt, Sue then talks us through how she now helps women deal with the same challenge as a Thrive Programme Consultant. Russell & Robert meet Tai Shani, multidisciplinary British artist and joint-winner of the Turner Prize 2019. Shani’s practice encompasses performance, film, photography and sculptural installations, frequently structured around experimental texts. She is currently a Tutor in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art.Taking inspiration from disparate histories, narratives and characters mined from forgotten sources, Shani creates dark, fantastical worlds, brimming with utopian potential. These deeply affective works often combine rich and complex monologues with arresting, saturated installations, manifesting equally disturbing and divine images in the mind of the viewer. We discuss her on-going "DC: projects", developed by the artist over a four-year period and culminating in her Turner Prize nomination. The work is made up of multiple characters which explore mythical and real women in an expanded adaptation of Christine de Pizan's 1405 pioneering proto-feminist book, The Book of the City of Ladies. Shani uses the structure of an allegorical city of women to explore ‘feminine’ subjectivity and experience, through a gothic/science-fiction lens. Adopting Pizans’ medieval conception of history, where historical events, fictions and myths are entwined, "DC: projects" draws upon a host of references, tropes and characters from disparate sources, creating an elaborate world, outside of time and beyond patriarchal limits. Follow @TaiShani on Instagram or visit www.TaiShani.com and for details of Tai's installation at Turner Prize 2019 visit @TurnerContemporary or @The_Tetley for Tai's earlier exhibition mentioned in this episode. In this episode, we bring you a full dose of entertainment and cinema. Rajyasree discloses her illegal access to cinema, while Abhinandan's habit of name- and place-dropping is pointed out by Aditi, our Awful & Awesome enthusiast.Sekhri and Sen review Call Me By Your Name, which was banned from being shown at the Beijing Film Festival for no good reason. And they discuss James Ivory's comment on the lack of full frontal nudity and normal sex scenes in the film.According to Sen, “The film stars a very beautiful man called Armie Hammer whom we've seen play the Winklevoss twins in the Facebook film, it also stars Timothée Chalamet, whom we saw in Lady Bird as the rebel boyfriend." She also gives us a sneak peek of the plot, “Timothée Chalamet plays a boy called Elio whose father is a professor. Armie Hammer plays Oliver, is a graduate student of Elio's father...It's about the love affair that starts between both of them” and is an “extremely well scripted, beautiful film”. Sekhri and Sen also discuss the significance of the year 1983, which the movie is set in.There's also talk of why the trailer of Nude was in the news and why it was pulled from the International Film Festival Of India in November. According to our Awesome & Awful duo, the film has a “spectacular trailer”. Sekhri says, "It makes you watch the film. The plot unfolds with a brilliant cast, it's beautifully shot with perfect lighting. It has a promise to make a political statement but not an in your face sort of political statement.”There's a little insight about the trailer of the film, Dundee, with Sekhri giving millennials a bit of context about Crocodile Dundee which was a pop culture phenomenon when he was in school (in the Dark Ages). Then, of course, there's the man for all seasons, Salman Khan's Being Human summer campaign – Look Good Do Good - where he promotes people who are trying to change the world by doing noble things. Sekhri says, “Salman Khan is ‘looking good' and others are ‘doing good'”…The purpose of this campaign is to change Salman's image.”Unsurprisingly, Tetley's green tea advertisement starring Deepika Padukone is Sekhri's favourite campaign of the week. There's an interesting anecdote from Sekhri about Tea and Egypt! There's also Anurag Kadhyap's Karta, a short film presented by Kashyap and directed by Randeep Jha – which Sen quite enjoyed. The pièce de résistance though, is a musical rendition of a Punjabi song by Sekhri, while commenting on Punjab government's proposal to set up a committee to eradicate vulgarity from Punjabi songs. And there's Sen's question with an un-Googleable answer (or so she hopes) at the end.Much to look forward to this time. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The Leeds West Indian Carnival is something very close to my heart, and those familiar with the carnival may have, like myself, always noticed that almost every notable image published of it over the years was photographed by someone called Max Farrar. A long standing local of Chapeltown, activist, sociologist, and author of The Struggle for ‘Community’ in a British Multi-ethnic Inner-city Area (2002), I was honoured to finally get the chance to meet and talk with Max about his own history within the area, his five decades of social action, and the work of the David Oluwale Memorial Association he is part of.For those not familiar with David Oluwale, I don’t feel it right to shorten his story in these episode notes, but be assured that his story will be re-told loudly and widely in the upcoming months as we approach the 50th anniversary of his death. You may remember from Episode 6 with Jade Montserrat, in which she speaks of Rasheed Araeen’s work For Oluwale (1971-73), that has surprisingly never been exhibited in Leeds. This work will finally be presented as an updated version at The Tetley from the 16th February.

When I started this podcast I made the decision that I wouldn’t do any extra research, or really prepare in any way going in to each recording. There were a number of reasons for this, mainly that the best source of information is the person themselves, and I find it’s much more fun to discover things then and there. For instance, I’ve known Matt for quite a few years and had no idea until this conversation that he grew up in Tanzania and the profound influence it has had on him and his work. I have always been curious about his approach to making, as in many ways it carves quite a unique place for itself; so it was great to have this opportunity to delve a bit deeper. From welding up sections of Elland Road to the recent sculpture out the front of the The Tetley, we talk Tutankhamun’s tomb, Dean Clough Studios, and the healthy realisation that art often isn’t as important as we think it is.
Ian Tetley isn't afraid to give his input. Sometimes a front-end player has to speak out before the wrong shot is called. According to Ian, his teammates were often too quiet to speak up...so he had to. His enthusiasm for curling began while watching father Bill win the Brier in 1975. When he and teammate Pat Perroud got a call to join Al Hackner, he went to his first Brier, and won. Ian went on to win three World Championships with different skips and left a legacy of double peels (often, it's been said, because he usually missed the first one). We'll discuss the early days in Thunder Bay, the famous Hackner Double in 1985, the first Canadian Olympic Trials, and tales from Toronto during his time playing for Ed Werenich and later Wayne Middaugh.

Vamos a ver algunas posturas. Very few artists have been able to produce works or projects that incorporate skateboarding into their process or outcome that are embraced or appreciated by skateboarders ourselves – we can be quite fickle when it comes to these sort of things. I first became aware of Keith’s work through one such project, one that was embraced, and one I was jealous not be able to participate in (i.e. to skate it). It had a sensibility that always made me wonder if he himself was also a skateboarder, and was pleasantly impressed when finally being able to speak with him to learn that in fact he wasn’t. However, there is an interesting parallel in the way he embraces trial and error, failure, and ultimately risk taking in the way he approaches his work. It was also a pleasure to learn of the deeper, more personal significance behind many of his often quite spectacular works.Keith Harrison is currently exhibiting in Material Environments at The Tetley, Leeds.

It’s a nice relaxy week in the bar as we open up the vaults with beers from the road including some from Hinterland and Stevens Point (thanks to Dan for both of these!) plus Two Roads! We get to taste Hinterland Door County Cherry Wheat, Hinterland Luna Coffee Stout, Stevens Point Milkshake Malt Porter, Two Roads Lil Heaven Session IPA, and Two Roads Road 2 Ruin DIPA! It’s newstime this week beginning with Food and Wine revealing why small-batch beer releases are such a big deal for brewers. Next we have Space.com blasting off with the out-of-this-world Vostok space beer bottle, then The BBC reports that Tetley's beer is being brewed in Leeds after a six-year hiatus. We close with The Sacramento Bee’s report that local craft brewers are bristling at a BUD-owned beer garden. Then we have your responses to last week’s #caskquiz which asked “do you know a brewery that combines brewing with another activity/business like Division Brewing does? What brewery and what else do they do?” and this week we are asking “do you agree with Pete Coors that the hard-line stance of the BA ultimately hurts all beer?” We so love hearing from you! Please send in feedback and beer suggestions by calling us at (919) 502-0280, Tweeting us, following our Instagram or friending us on Untappd, posting on and liking our Facebook page, or emailing us! And please rate & review us in iTunes or Stitcher if you haven’t done so!
Though I’ve never been directly taught my Harold, I’ve felt I’ve been able to learn a lot from him, and his many works and projects over the ten years since first meeting him; having this chance to speak with him much more at length and start to understand how his own educational and artistic experiences have informed his generous and arguably unique approach to art and education – and why in his case they are one in the same – I, not surprisingly, learnt quite a lot.Maybe more so than any other artist, I really look up to Harold as a model for how to produce socially engaged work, usually with nothing more than himself, in ways that seem to cut through many of the social or class obstacles which often seem to surround the notion of art.Harold will be exhibiting as part of the upcoming exhibition Material Environments at The Tetley, Leeds.
In this episode, we bring you a full dose of entertainment and cinema. Rajyasree discloses her illegal access to cinema, while Abhinandan’s habit of name- and place-dropping is pointed out by Aditi, our Awful & Awesome enthusiast. Sekhri and Sen review Call Me By Your Name, which was banned from being shown at the Beijing Film Festival for no good reason. And they discuss James Ivory’s comment on the lack of full frontal nudity and normal sex scenes in the film.According to Sen, “The film stars a very beautiful man called Armie Hammer whom we’ve seen play the Winklevoss twins in the Facebook film, it also stars Timothée Chalamet, whom we saw in Lady Bird as the rebel boyfriend." She also gives us a sneak peek of the plot, “Timothée Chalamet plays a boy called Elio whose father is a professor. Armie Hammer plays Oliver, is a graduate student of Elio’s father...It’s about the love affair that starts between both of them” and is an “extremely well scripted, beautiful film”. Sekhri and Sen also discuss the significance of the year 1983, which the movie is set in.There’s also talk of why the trailer of Nude was in the news and why it was pulled from the International Film Festival Of India in November. According to our Awesome & Awful duo, the film has a “spectacular trailer”. Sekhri says, "It makes you watch the film. The plot unfolds with a brilliant cast, it’s beautifully shot with perfect lighting. It has a promise to make a political statement but not an in your face sort of political statement.”There’s a little insight about the trailer of the film, Dundee, with Sekhri giving millennials a bit of context about Crocodile Dundee which was a pop culture phenomenon when he was in school (in the Dark Ages). Then, of course, there’s the man for all seasons, Salman Khan’s Being Human summer campaign – Look Good Do Good - where he promotes people who are trying to change the world by doing noble things. Sekhri says, “Salman Khan is ‘looking good’ and others are ‘doing good’”…The purpose of this campaign is to change Salman’s image.”Unsurprisingly, Tetley’s green tea advertisement starring Deepika Padukone is Sekhri’s favourite campaign of the week. There’s an interesting anecdote from Sekhri about Tea and Egypt! There’s also Anurag Kadhyap’s Karta, a short film presented by Kashyap and directed by Randeep Jha – which Sen quite enjoyed. The pièce de résistance though, is a musical rendition of a Punjabi song by Sekhri, while commenting on Punjab government’s proposal to set up a committee to eradicate vulgarity from Punjabi songs. And there’s Sen’s question with an un-Googleable answer (or so she hopes) at the end. Much to look forward to this time. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In this first attempt at a live audience recording made upon my return to Leeds, and to resuming the podcast at The Tetley, I speak with their artistic director Bryony Bond about how the podcast has been going and what I’ve learnt from it. All while essentially trying to ignore the presence of the audience who had kindly attended. It became more of a performance work than I would have predicted – an odder situation than might be obvious from the recording itself in which I’ve also tried my best to remove their sonic presence. Made it feel more like an artwork at least.More importantly, however, we were able to learn about Bryony’s artistic origins, her thoughts on curating, working with artists, really, really liking exhibitions, the first ever project she worked on now being re-shown as part of Mark Dion’s current exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery, shaping an organisation, institutional personability, and we generally realise our approaches and intentions are not too dissimilar. Also realised something I should have done at the event itself is to massively thank Bryony, Georgia, and everyone at The Tetley for letting me record the podcast there and for all their wonderful support – thank you!

Why Are More Americans Drinking Tea These Days? | National Hot Tea Month This episode is brought to you by Jumpstart:HR, LLC - HR Outsourcing for Small Businesses and Start-Ups: http://www.jumpstart-hr.comArticle of the Week: Health Benefits of Tea? Here’s What the Evidence Says (New York Times)For More Information About Tetley and National Hot Tea Month: HTTP://WWW.TETLEYUSA.COM/On this Episode:In the U.S. it seems like we run on caffeine, and interestingly enough, American millennials are actually drinking as much tea as they are coffee according to a recent study. In fact, on any given day over one half of the American population drinks tea. Why is tea trending upwards in the U.S.?If anyone knows, it’s Sebastian Michaelis, a Master Tea Blender with an extremely refined palate, and the man who makes his living by drinking tea. Sebastian alone has sampled more than 250,000 blends of tea throughout his career. Who knew there was so much involved in tasting and drinking tea? Within 15 seconds, he can determine the exact quality and characteristics of thousands of different tea varieties. Sebastians’s job is to taste the teas and blend them together to make them recognizably Tetley. On this episode of Business, Life, and Coffee, Sebastian Michaelis, a Renowned Tea Sommelier will be discussing his unique career and the science behind his work. He will also be divulging what it takes to make a perfect cup of tea, including a live demonstration of his tea brewing technique. Sebastian is available to share his theories on why tea is catching up with coffee in the U.S., and to update you on the various new forms of tea such as herbal infusion teas. Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water, and has a long history around the world. About Sebastian Michaelis: Sebastian is a professional tea taster, buyer and blender at Tata Global Beverages, managing the global group’s African buying and sustainable sourcing program. He coordinates the company’s mission to source 100% Rainforest Alliance tea for the Tetley brand by 2016, working closely with charities and organizations to train and support several hundred producers on sustainable and ethical production. Colin Marshall sits down in Silver Lake with comedian, writer, and comedy writer Todd Levin, who's written for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Conan, and the Onion News Network. They discuss using comedy performers as tools; the advantages of being a cipher; deliberately bewildering the audience, listening for reactions beyond laughter, and in the process becoming a connoisseur of silence; the comparative humorous possibilities of Tetley and Bigelow tea bag package copy; the inevitable and healthy decision to stop reading internet feedback on one's work; Conan O'Brien's coxcomb of hair; New York's inherent masochism, and Los Angeles' bus stops full of people who look just about to surrender; the pleasures of New York's crosstown buses and the agonies of its garbage trains; Los Angeles' lack of an excuse for shuffling around in flip-flops; his heightened suspicion of venues that aggressively promise good times, and what aggressive promises of laughter can do to comedy; the ultimately fruitless technique of reliable joke insertion, which reveals an anxiety to hold an audience's attention and in so doing loses that attention; that particular Conan O'Brien brand of delivering silliness and lasting memories at once; and the haunting question of telling which of your actions indicate maturity, and which indicate complacency. This time around, it is Richard's turn to look like a fool! (Okay, not much different than any other time ...) Also, Erik kicks it off with a recap the latest performances, Chris reads some "listener-mail," Richard reads a passage from a real nail-biter of a reference/instructional book, and -- big shocker -- we talk beer (Hobgoblin Ale, Tetley's Ale and Fishtail I.P.A. -- not to metion some ideas on the origin of I.P.A.). BTW, Erik is very proud of this week's sound FX.
