Let's get brutally honest, fam: the US government's debt is so wild right now, you'd think it's a plotline ripped out of Succession. This episode goes deep into the $39 trillion debt crisis and why there's literally zero intention—or plan—to pay it back the traditional way. We're breaking down what the Fed, big banks, politicians, and those headline AI investments are really up to. It's not what you think (and the way your future is tied to all this will blow your mind).Whether you're a finance junkie or suspicious about why your dollars don't stretch like they used to, we're peeking behind the curtain at the real mechanics behind national debt, inflation, and those “solutions” no one in power wants to talk about. Grab a notebook—you're about to spot red flags before everyone else and save yourself from ending up on the wrong side of a financial cliff.00:00 - Intro02:17 - Part 1: Only Two Ways Out09:36 - Part 2: Control What You Show Them To Control What They See17:51 - Part 3: The Invisible Money Printer Go BrrrrWhat's up, everybody? Last week, we talked about what emotional insecurity looks like, the patterns that tell you safety is missing in a relationship. This week is about what comes next: what actually creates emotional safety. Emotionally safe relationships do not just happen by accident. They are built through small, consistent behaviors over time. Trust, respect, honesty, and repair are skills, not lucky outcomes. Here are six things you can practice to build more emotional safety in the relationships that matter most to you. Read the show notes for today's episode at terricole.com/843

We've practiced Sabbath more than three hundred times now, and the strangest part is what it taught us. Not how to relax — we're still bad at that — but how to trust. In this episode we talk about what it means to set your tools down one day a week (and how to know what your tools even are), the two sneaky ways we get rest wrong, and why the days that weren't restful still did their work. Plus the manna in the wilderness, and what it has to do with your laundry. If you love what we do and want more behind-the-scenes fun, bonus episodes, and exclusive content, join the walk in love. The feeling of being overwhelmed is something that Sincere Engineer's Deanna Belos can tell you all about. She began her somewhat unexpected music career during a real crossroads in her life, in which she was deciding whether or not to pursue a career in the world of dentistry. It was around this time that she met producer Matt Jordan, who not only helped Deanna reach her musical potential, but also introduced her to the fellow musicians who would become the band. The song “Trust Me” was born out of this era, and within a few years, it was Sincere Engineer's set closer on the main stage at Lollapalooza. This week, Deanna sits in to discuss the writing and recording of the song that has become one of the band's signature tracks. Today on Undressed with Pol' and Patrik, we're taking you behind the scenes of one of the most emotional—and hilarious—weekends we've had in years: Patrik's 40th Walnut High School Reunion! What started as a simple reunion quickly turned into an unforgettable road trip filled with laughter, shocking observations, unexpected friendships and plenty of classic Pol' and Patrik commentary. Before we even arrived, we debated everything from what to wear to whether Idyllwild even existed. We quickly discovered winding mountain roads, scenic overlooks (or at least what Patrik thought were scenic overlooks), tiny cabins, quirky hotels and a mountain town that completely surprised us. We share the hilarious truth about checking into our rustic mountain lodge, meeting the unforgettable owner Raj, navigating tiny showers, questionable TV reception, and why our "upgraded room" became one of the funniest stories of the weekend. Then came the first reunion event at the Idyllwild Winery, where we reunited with classmates we hadn't seen in forty years. We talk about the excitement, the nerves, the reality of seeing everyone after decades, and how life has changed for all of us. We laugh about reunion fashion, reminiscing over high school memories, reconnecting with old friends, hearing stories we'd never heard before, and watching complete strangers accidentally crash our reunion tables. Along the way we share hilarious observations about mountain life, why every business seemed to fly rainbow flags, why Patrik thought Idyllwild looked like a witness protection program, and how one mountain town created enough comedy material to last an entire season. Dinner brought another unforgettable moment after an awkward encounter at a local Mexican restaurant turned into a conversation about kindness, inclusion and remembering how simple gestures can create lifelong friendships. We even share the incredible story of how a chance dinner years ago introduced us to friends we still travel the world with today. We wrap up Part One over drinks at the local brewery, catching up with classmates who now live all over the world—including discovering two former classmates who unknowingly relocated just miles from each other in Costa Rica. It's funny, nostalgic, heartfelt and completely unfiltered as we begin reliving one of the most memorable weekends of our lives. Trust us...this reunion is only getting started. This episode began as an investigation into Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays, propaganda, psychoanalysis, and the hidden machinery through which modern perception management came to be. But somewhere along the way, it became something much more personal. In Starlight Sickness, Kelly traces the strange lineage between Freud's abandonment of the seduction theory, Bernays's engineering of consent, and the ways power moves harm out of view by relocating it into the minds of the harmed. From the origins of modern public relations to the hall of mirrors inside ufology, this episode asks what happens when the tools we use to interpret reality also become the tools used to obscure it. How do we practice discernment without losing trust in our own perception? How do we make room for complexity without allowing complexity to become fog? And what does accountability look like when the story you were living inside begins to collapse? In light of recent allegations against her former best friend and creative partner Jay Christopher King, Kelly turns the same questions back on herself, beginning the process of untangling what happened, what she believed, what she may have gotten wrong, and what this community is owed now. This is an episode about gaslighting, trauma, consent engineering, ufology, and the terrifying difficulty of finding solid ground in a world built to manage perception. Topics explored: Sigmund Freud | Edward Bernays | propaganda | psychoanalysis | gaslighting | consent engineering | perception management | public relations | the unconscious | repression | seduction theory | the Oedipus complex | Jeffrey Masson | Freud Archives | Emma Eckstein | Wilhelm Fliess | institutional betrayal | therapeutic language | expert authority | trauma | memory | interpretation | accountability | narrative control | invisible government | torches of freedom | United Fruit Company | Guatemala coup | ufology | experiencer communities | anomalous experience | sexual trauma | abduction narratives | vulnerability and power | Jay Christopher King | The Experiencer Group | spiritual abuse | trust and betrayal | epistemic instability | discernment | reality testing | | truth and coherence | symbols and meaning | systems of control | manufactured consent | moral injury | the hall of mirrors Referenced in this Episode: Addressing the Allegations Against My Former Creative Partner, Jay Christopher King Starlight Sickness — Helico Tele Propaganda — Edward Bernays (1928) The Engineering of Consent — Edward Bernays (1947) The Aetiology of Hysteria — Sigmund Freud (1896) The Interpretation of Dreams — Sigmund Freud (1900) Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality — Sigmund Freud (1905) The Assault on Truth: Freud's Suppression of the Seduction Theory — Jeffrey Masson (1984) Sigmund Freud and the Jewish Mystical Tradition — David Bakan (1958) Trust Me, I'm Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator — Ryan Holiday (2012) I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell — Tucker Max (2006) Support The Show Patreon: inquirywithkellychase.comSubstack: inquirywithkellychase.substack.com Connect with Kelly Website: kellychase.mediaX: @kellychasemediaInstagram: @kellychasemedia TIMESTAMPS 05:27 Propaganda and The True Ruling Power 09:20 Freudian Ick10:58 Jeffrey Masson, Heretic 13:18 Sigmund Freud and The Source of the Nile 17:49 Wilhelm Fliess, A Passionate Friendship 19:55 Emma Eckstein and The Stronger Sex 22:06 A Little Sleight of Hand24:21 The Oedipus Complex and The Nucleus of Neuroses 32:02 The Baby and the Bathwater 33:21 Trust the Experts 34:44 You Can't Do Anything With This Information 37:54 The Torches of Freedom 40:31 The Coup 43:11 A Koan 48:15 The Abstract Becomes Horrifyingly Personal 52:21 Responding to Jay Christopher King's Statement 01:01:03 Fall 2023 01:05:21 The Epistemic Black Boxes of Ufology Learn more about your ad choices. In today's episode, Drew, Ryan, and Tom break down a chaotic week in American politics and economics, starting with the biggest housing affordability bill in decades and the private equity cap that has both parties on board, and why Trump is refusing to sign it as leverage to force a vote on the Save America Act. The conversation digs into the heart of the disagreement: voter ID, the census, and the long term question of who gets to vote, with the guys mapping out exactly where their base assumptions collide on immigration, asylum, birthright citizenship, and the four Supreme Court rulings that just landed, including the Monsanto glyphosate decision, the Hawaii gun case, and the TPS deportations. From there they tackle New York City's rent freeze and the historical disaster of rent control, inflation hitting 4.1%, and Thomas Massie accusing Trump of communism over government stakes in Intel, MP Materials, and Lithium Americas. The discussion widens into the deeper machine underneath all of it: why houses cannot stay affordable in an inflationary regime, why 70 percent of millennials lean socialist, the French Revolution warning about resentment versus greed, the controversial idea that government has started behaving like a cancer, and a proposal to invest every American in the S&P 500 from birth. They close on the economics of GTA 6 clearing 3 billion in pre sales and why AI is about to reshape the entire gaming industry. Most people think better communication is about saying the right thing. But sometimes it starts with admitting when you're wrong. In this conversation, I sit down with Danica McKellar to talk about the lessons she's learned through parenting, faith, and personal growth. We discuss why apologizing to your kids builds trust, how to stay connected to a teenager who seems distant, and the surprising realization that most of your relationship with your child will happen after they become an adult. We also talk about forgiveness, anxiety, letting go of control, and why some of the most meaningful moments in life are the ones we slow down long enough to notice. Are you feeling energetically fragmented, caught between the frantic acceleration of your work week and the deep exhaustion of burnout? Welcome to Day 6 of our master series, Pranayama: Cultivating and Controlling Your Life Force Energy. Our developmental arc is Balance. In this session, we explore the fascinating spiritual mechanics of spinal equilibrium from Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi—revealing how advanced masters neutralize internal anxiety by balancing the dual solar and lunar currents running along the spine. Tonight, we execute our most sophisticated neuro-somatic protocol yet: Somatic Stacking. By layering your physical alignment, the energy-conserving Pran Mudra, and Yogananda's specialized double-respiration technique together, you actively force your nervous system into a state of perfect autonomic coherence. This deep biological reset harmonizes your brain hemispheres, stabilizes your heart rate variability, and levels the emotional scales of your week. Turn off the noise of the outside world, reclaim your absolute center, and drift effortlessly into deep, symmetrical sleep. In This Episode, You'll Discover: The Dual Highways of the Yogi: What Sri Yukteswar taught Yogananda about balancing the nervous system's active and passive currents to unlock unshakeable peace. The Power of Somatic Stacking: How combining physical positioning, hand mudras, and breath architecture sends a master safety override signal to your brain stem. The Multi-Layered Balance Meditation: A guided step-by-step bedtime practice to clear mid-week fragmentation and step onto your inner throne of equilibrium. A Message for Your Heart Dear Friend, You may have spent the entire week running, building, and beautifully balancing a massive world of responsibilities. You may have held space for so many visions and managed so many complex moving parts. It is incredibly easy to feel pulled apart by the sheer velocity of it all. Tonight, I want you to remember that your true nature is not chaotic—it is perfectly balanced. You do not have to fix the outside world to experience a state of absolute, sovereign equilibrium within yourself. By stacking your posture, your mudra, and your breath tonight, you are declaring that your inner center is completely untouchable. You are the stillness at the absolute eye of the storm. Trust your alignment, trust your center, and let yourself slide into the deep, beautiful rest you so richly deserve. You are doing an extraordinary job." With love, Mary This is day 6 of a 7-day meditation series, "Somatic Energy Mastery," episodes 2529-3535. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY YOUR WEEKLY CHALLENGE: "The Adrenaline Alchemist"
Emotion is not a strategy. Logic is. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why strong leaders cannot afford to make major business decisions based on fear, guilt, anger, or stress. Let's be real… If your financial decisions change based on your mood… If you avoid hard calls because they feel uncomfortable… If you keep toxic people around because you feel guilty… You are not protecting the business. You are letting emotion run the boardroom. In this episode, you'll learn: Why feelings are terrible business advisors How emotional decisions can destroy margins, culture, and momentum Why every major move needs clear criteria and measurable data How logic creates trust, stability, and stronger leadership The truth is simple: The numbers do not care about your feelings. The market does not care about your stress. The company cannot survive on comfort. It survives on clarity. High-level leaders do not panic when pressure rises. They look at the facts. They run the math. They follow the criteria. They make the hard call. Because logic scales. Emotion stalls. When your team knows that decisions are made with fairness, transparency, and data… They trust the leadership. They trust the mission. And they execute with more confidence. Stop letting emotion control the room. Trust the math. Protect the mission. And keep leveling up. Your Network is your NETWORTH! What happens to the entire product development process when creating software becomes as easy as creating a Google Doc? In this episode of the CPO Rising Series hosted by Products That Count Resident CPO Jay Patel, Cartwheel CPO Sarah Turrin speaks on how the collapse of software costs is reshaping healthcare product leadership, why the era of CPOs as pure strategists is already over, and how she thinks about deploying AI in healthcare environments where a probabilistic model simply cannot be unleashed on patients without deterministic guardrails. Thirty days into her role at one of the nation's largest K-12 mental health platforms, Sarah brings a rare combination of clinical sensitivity, technical fluency, and genuine urgency about what product leaders need to do right now.
What happens when wonder is reduced to curiosity, and curiosity becomes a drive to master everything? In this second conversation with William Desmond, John Vervaeke returns to the question of astonishment: not as a passing emotional state, but as a deeper opening of the mind to reality. Desmond frames scientism as a philosophical interpretation of science that tries to make all essential questions answerable through determinate method, precision, and control. Science remains valuable, but scientism forgets the more original wonder from which inquiry arises. The conversation distinguishes astonishment, perplexity, and curiosity. Curiosity seeks determinate answers, while astonishment opens us to what exceeds our mastery. Vervaeke connects this with his own distinction between the having mode and the being mode, arguing that genuine wonder is bound up with transformation rather than mere information. From there, the dialogue turns to Plato, Aristotle, Hegel, logical positivism, AI, computation, relevance realization, and insight. Desmond and Vervaeke ask whether intelligibility can be reduced to determination, or whether the most important forms of understanding depend on a living act of insight that formal systems cannot generate on their own. The final movement turns toward spiritual practice, Socrates, Jesus, the Buddha, religion, trust, and forgiveness. If modern culture suffers from a dearth of astonishment, then the recovery of meaning may require more than better arguments. It may require practices, communities, and forms of dialogue that reawaken porosity, reverence, and an openness to the sacred. Timestamps 00:00 - Introduction and the Desmond conversation so far 03:00 - Science, scientism, and the desire to make everything univocal 06:30 - Astonishment, perplexity, and curiosity 14:00 - Plato, Aristotle, and the purpose of philosophical wonder 16:30 - Having, being, mystery, and transformation 22:20 - Whether knowledge dissolves wonder 26:10 - Logical positivism and the failure of total certainty 31:30 - The four kinds of knowing and propositional tyranny 34:00 - Insight, inference, and logical systems 41:40 - Relevance realization, computation, and AI 46:30 - What intelligibility means beyond determination 50:40 - Inexhaustibility and the hyper-intelligible 58:20 - Dialectic, dialogos, and the practice of astonishment 01:03:40 - Porosity, the buffered self, and vulnerability 01:07:00 - Meaninglessness, spiritual practice, and cultural homelessness 01:12:30 - Reawakening astonishment without commodifying experience 01:14:10 - Ancient dialogue as a response to skepticism 01:17:30 - Socrates, Jesus, the Buddha, and embodied wisdom 01:22:00 - Religion, the sacred, and suspicion of God 01:27:30 - Trust, forgiveness, and cultural metanoia 01:30:20 - Closing thoughts and the next conversation Key Insights Scientism totalizes science by treating scientific method as the answer to every essential question. Astonishment is more original than curiosity because it opens inquiry rather than merely directing it toward control. Perplexity matters because some mysteries are not failures of explanation but enduring features of the human condition. Insight depends on living participation in intelligibility, not only inference or computation. AI and formal systems can imitate aspects of thought, but they do not resolve the deeper question of living noetic activity. Modern meaninglessness is intensified when institutions, practices, and role models no longer help people recover reverence and connectedness. Religion must be discussed at the level of human vulnerability, longing, trust, failure, and mystery, not only at the level of institutional critique. What does real leadership look like when everything is falling apart? In this unforgettable episode of MisFitNation, host Rich LaMonica sits down with Keni Thomas, a former U.S. Army Ranger with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Bronze Star with Valor recipient, Ranger Hall of Fame inductee, bestselling author, country music artist, Emmy-winning producer, and survivor of the Battle of Mogadishu, made famous by Black Hawk Down. Keni shares the untold human side of one of the most iconic battles in modern military history, revealing what happened beyond the Hollywood version. He explains how young Rangers led under unimaginable pressure, why leadership has nothing to do with rank, and how servant leadership, accountability, trust, and teamwork continue to shape his life long after combat. The conversation explores the transition from military service to civilian leadership, overcoming trauma, sharing veterans' stories, building resilient teams, and why every leader—whether in business, public service, or at home—can learn from the battlefield. Keni also discusses: The true story behind Black Hawk Down Leadership lessons forged in combat The importance of serving those beside you Building trust before asking people to follow Why veterans must continue telling their stories Faith, resilience, and finding purpose after service How military leadership translates into business success Whether you're a veteran, entrepreneur, executive, first responder, leader, or someone striving to make a greater impact, this episode delivers timeless lessons on courage, sacrifice, and leading by example. If you're still breathing, you belong.

It's one of the greatest films ever made. Doug has seen it more times than he can count. And for years, he's been waiting for the moment his daughter was ready. This Father's Day weekend, it happened, but not before they worked their way through Batman Begins first. The Batman Begins debrief alone is worth the price of admission: Natalie still doesn't understand why Bruce Wayne's parents had to die and genuinely wondered whether Batman was going to kill Rachel and Alfred in the film. She also thought that Batman can, apparently, talk to bats. Then came The Dark Knight. Doug prepped her on the Joker's philosophy, the importance of Batman's no-kill rule, and the practical effects behind the hospital explosion, which Doug and Jill actually witnessed being filmed when they lived downtown Chicago. Natalie handled the pencil scene with more composure than expected. She processed the ferry sequence. She understood the stakes, and spent the entire climax waiting for Bane to show up. And when it was over, she looked at her dad and said: "I see why you like it." Ten years. Worth every second. Also this episode: a genuinely great question — if you could go back to high school or college and take one class again with everything you know now, which class would you choose? Justin picks social studies, psychology, astronomy, and a very specific European history class he completely wasted. Doug picks management 101 with a professor he truly despised and would absolutely challenge every single day, and seventh grade PE, where his coach regularly called him names that would end careers today. Plot twist: years later, that same coach applied for a job at Doug's brother's school. Doug's brother said no. Justice is real. Plus: a dump truck parked in front of a blind hill with "Trust in the Lord" written on the back, Jesus as a Marvel Rivals support player, and Meccha Chameleon — a $6 Steam prop hunt game where you paint yourself to blend into the scenery and it is immediately one of the best six dollars Doug has ever spent. Justin needs a PC. Doug has thoughts. The movie audio clip guessing game returns with quotes from Wall Street, The Big Short, and The Golden Child including one of the most specific movie pulls in the history of this show. The Anti-Hype Beauty Episode: Good Housekeeping's April Franzino on Testing, Trust, and the Aging Well Core Promise to the Listener The Not Old Better Show Good Housekeeping Good Better Best Interview Series Beauty advice has moved from the department store counter to the magazine page to the endless scroll. That shift matters, especially for adults 60+. Today, consumers are trying to make sense of sunscreens, retinol, dark spot correctors, fragrance, skin-tightening products, "anti-aging" claims, and social media recommendations that often sound more certain than the evidence allows. On this episode of The Not Old Better Show, I speak with April Franzino, Senior Beauty and Style Director at Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, and Prevention. April brings the perspective of a journalist, editor, product tester, and consumer guide. We talk about the Good Housekeeping Beauty Awards, the role of Beauty Lab testing, why sunscreen remains central to skin care, and how readers can separate practical guidance from polished salesmanship. For me, the larger question is trust. Who has earned it? What has been tested? What should we question before spending money? Experience matters. Longevity matters. And in beauty, as in health journalism, confidence should never outrun evidence.
A Note from James:Mark Pincus is one of the true OGs of the internet. You probably know him as the founder of Zynga, the company behind FarmVille, Zynga Poker, and Words With Friends. Zynga was eventually acquired by Take-Two in a transaction valued at approximately $12.7 billion. Before Zynga, Mark started Tribe, one of the first social networks—before MySpace and Facebook. He has spent more than 25 years building, failing, and studying what gets millions of people to click, play, share, and come back. His new book, Life at the Speed of Play, inspired me to start coming up with new business ideas while we were still recording. What I really love is how Mark teaches people to copy like a master without looking like a copycat. He has a framework called “Proven–Better–New.” Start with something that has already been proven. Make it obviously better. Then isolate the new idea you want to test. It's one of the best systems I've heard for creating products people actually want.We talk about the early days of Facebook and MySpace, the failure of Tribe, the gaming industry, consumer psychology, AI coding, and how agents could eventually network and work for us while we're doing something else.I loved talking with Mark. I was still thinking about this conversation afterward—and I'm literally building businesses based on what I learned. His new book is called Life at the Speed of Play. Listen to this episode, and then read the book.Episode Description:Most founders begin with an idea and then spend months—or years—trying to prove that people want it. Mark Pincus thinks that process is backward. At Zynga, Mark's teams built “failure machines”: simple systems that allowed them to test hundreds of concepts before writing the code. They put unfinished ideas in front of real users, watched what people clicked, and refused to build anything until the demand was obvious. The objective wasn't to avoid failure. It was to make failure fast, cheap, and useful.Mark explains the framework behind that process: Proven–Better–New. First, study an existing success down to every screen, click, and design decision. Then identify one improvement that current users would immediately recognize as better. Only after that should a team add the unproven idea—the part most likely to fail.James and Mark also examine the problems facing today's consumer entrepreneurs. AI has made software easier to build, but distribution has become harder. People aren't searching for new apps, established platforms restrict organic growth, and algorithmic reach isn't the same as users actively sharing something with friends.Mark uses the failure of his early social network, Tribe, to explain why virality is not enough. Tribe grew quickly but lacked retention and trust. He ignored the communities users loved because they didn't match the business model he had already chosen. That painful mistake became the foundation for much of his later product philosophy. The conversation ends with Mark's current experiments: personal AI agents modeled after members of his family, a proposed work network built specifically for agents, an enterprise AI company called Hivemind, and the difficult decision to end a four-year passion project without abandoning the instinct behind it.This is a practical conversation about testing ideas, separating instinct from ego, learning from the past, and killing the wrong product before it consumes the right opportunity. What You'll Learn:How to build a failure machine: Test headlines, offers, videos, and fake doors before investing in a finished product. How to apply Proven–Better–New: Begin with a proven behavior, make one unmistakable improvement, and isolate the risky innovation. Why distribution is now harder than development: AI can generate a prototype quickly, but it cannot guarantee attention, trust, or adoption. Why Tribe failed despite rapid growth: Virality without retention, safety, and alignment with user behavior does not create a lasting network. How to copy without becoming a copycat: Study successful products at the pixel level, preserve what works, and innovate only where it matters. When to abandon an idea: Preserve the underlying instinct, but stop funding the particular expression of it when the evidence turns against you.How AI agents may change networking: Agents could eventually search for opportunities, exchange work, build reputations, and bring useful leads back to their users.Timestamped Chapters: [02:00] Finding the “OMFG” Moment [02:58] A Note from James [05:00] Build a Failure Machine Before Building a Product [06:25] Testing Demand With Fake Doors and Broken Links [08:08] Writing Copy That People Actually Notice [10:52] Test More Ideas in a Week Than the Industry Tests in a Year [11:53] Why Neglected Products Become Innovation Labs [13:26] How Mobile Apps Slowed Product Experimentation [15:09] Can AI Bring Rapid Testing Back? Willem Paling: From Messy Middles to Autonomous Agents and the Race for Trust at Scale While the insurance sector has long flirted with artificial intelligence, a vast majority of firms find themselves paralyzed in perpetual pilot phases. In this installment of Scouting for Growth, I sit down with Willem Paling, Executive Manager of AI and Analytics at IAG, to decode the transition from mere experimentation to the realization of operational AI at scale. Reflecting on IAG's aggressive deployment—launching more models in the past year than in the previous six years combined—Willem highlights that success in insurance will be anchored in trust architecture and governance rather than in model complexity alone. We unpack the friction of deploying in a regulated environment, moving beyond the "messy middle" of claims workflows toward a future of autonomous agents that enhance decision-making while ensuring human accountability remains paramount. Our dialogue ventures into the frontiers of agentic commerce, machine-readable products, and the looming challenges of AI-driven fraud. As we look toward 2030, the vision of an AI-native insurer emerges, revealing why the winners will be those who weaponize their data foundations and human-AI collaboration today to dominate the industry's next era. Key Takeaways What stood out to me most from my conversation with Willem is that the AI race in insurance is no longer about access to models. Frontier models are becoming increasingly available to everyone. The real differentiator is the ability to operationalize AI safely, consistently, and at scale. Trust architecture, governance, monitoring, explainability, and human oversight are becoming strategic assets rather than compliance requirements. I was particularly struck by Willem's observation that the industry must stop treating AI as a series of experiments and start treating it as a core operating capability. The organizations creating value today are those that have embedded AI into business workflows, assigned clear ownership, and built repeatable deployment mechanisms that move beyond proof-of-concept thinking. Another important lesson is that the greatest near-term value lies in the “messy middle” of insurance operations. By automating document-heavy, repetitive, and semi-structured tasks, AI can free highly skilled professionals to focus on judgment, customer relationships, negotiation, and exception handling—the areas where human expertise remains essential. Our discussion also reinforced how dramatically the distribution of products may change as AI agents increasingly influence product discovery and purchasing decisions. Insurers must prepare for a world in which products must be machine-readable, API-enabled, and easily consumable by AI systems, not just by human buyers. Finally, Willem highlighted an often-overlooked challenge: AI is not only helping insurers but also empowering bad actors. AI-generated fraud, synthetic identities, deepfakes, and manipulated evidence will require stronger trust mechanisms, verification systems, and provenance controls. The insurers that thrive by 2030 will be those that invest today in trustworthy AI foundations while redesigning their organizations around human-AI collaboration. Best Moments “This is what the messy middle actually looks like. Not the hype, not the holdouts—the insurer that stopped experimenting and started shipping.” – Sabine VanderLinden “We stopped doing experiments, and we focused on delivery.” – Willem Paling “The frontier is no longer just model capability. It's whether you can industrialize AI with trust.” – Willem Paling “Trust architecture isn't separate from value creation. Trust is what turns AI from an impressive model into something that improves insurance at scale.” – Willem Paling “We're talking about expert judgment, decision-making, critical thinking, and empathy.” – Sabine VanderLinden “The goal is not to preserve every task in the old role. It's to preserve and elevate the expertise inside the role.” – Willem Paling “The most underestimated risk is AI on the other side—AI attacking the evidence layer of insurance.” – Willem Paling “The winning insurer in 2030 will be AI-native in how it operates, not just AI-enabled in a few functions.” – Willem Paling “The companies who win the agentic frontier aren't the ones with the biggest models. They are the ones who earn autonomy instead of declaring it.” – Sabine VanderLinden ABOUT THE GUEST Willem Paling is the Executive Manager of AI and Analytics at IAG, Insurance Australia Group, Australia's largest general insurer, operating brands including NRMA Insurance, CGU, WFI, and Swann Insurance. He leads the strategy and industrialization of AI across the organization, including production-grade systems in claims, underwriting, customer service, responsible AI governance, and human-AI teaming. His work focuses on moving AI from experimentation into trusted execution. Willem has helped shape IAG's responsible AI commitments, supported the Australian Responsible AI Index, and contributed to the AI 2030 Horizons perspective following the ITC 2025 executive summit. His mission connects frontier capability with the governance, explainability, and operating discipline required to deploy AI safely in an industry built on customer promises. In this episode of Inner Edison Podcast, Ed Parcaut sits down with Mike Deaton for a conversation about layoffs, entrepreneurship, land investing, and reinventing life after corporate America. Mike shares how he spent more than two decades in big tech operations and supply chain before getting laid off, then deciding not to jump back into another W-2 job. Instead, he and his wife stepped into the world of vacant land investing, buying property below market value and reselling it through cash sales and owner financing. The conversation covers the mindset shift from employee to entrepreneur, learning to tolerate risk, direct mail marketing, choosing the right land markets, understanding county dynamics, and why failure feels different once you are building something of your own. This is a practical episode for anyone interested in real estate, side income, entrepreneurship, or creating more control over their future. *Contact Ed Parcaut:** -
For years, Americans were told to trust the science. Trust the experts. Trust Dr. Anthony Fauci. Now, as the origins of COVID-19 become clear, as the government's role in funding gain of function research becomes clear, and the aggressive push for vaccines that caused serious injuries and even death becomes clear, the accountability question refuses to go away. What was Dr. Fauci's end game? Was it money and power? Was it a sick villainous plot to profit off the virus itself and the devastation that came with it? Today, we ask whether the man who became the face of the pandemic should face legal consequences for his actions. Did his role in dismissing concerns about gain of function research help conceal the truth about the origins of COVID? Did government officials knowingly silence dissenting voices while promoting policies that carried real risks for millions of Americans? You know where I stand. But what do the experts think? And as families continue to deal with vaccine injuries that were ignored or downplayed, want Dr. Anthony Facui to face criminal liability. With charges as strong as negligent homicide. We'll examine the evidence, the allegations, and the growing calls for accountability. One thing is certain: the American people deserve answers and justice. In this episode of The Jess Larsen Show on Innovation & Leadership, Jess sits down with Dan Eberhard, Founder & CEO of Koho, one of Canada's most exciting fintech companies. Dan shares how Koho grew from a scrappy idea challenging Canada's powerful banking system into a company with 2 million customers, hundreds of millions raised, and a real shot at building the next great bank in Canada. Dan opens up about his unconventional path from growing up in a small mountain town in British Columbia to building wind farms, selling his first company, and eventually launching Koho after seeing how much wealth traditional financial products were extracting from everyday Canadians. Jess and Dan dive into the realities of building a fintech company in a market dominated by major banks, including the early grind of raising money, convincing partners like Visa and People's Trust, nearly running out of cash, and moving the company to Toronto after an investor ultimatum. Dan also breaks down how Koho thinks about product-market fit, customer behavior, fundraising, leadership, and building through chaos. This is a powerful conversation about entrepreneurship, financial freedom, resilience, and what it really takes to build a company that can challenge an entrenched industry. When porn is discovered in a marriage, trust gets shattered. And most couples have no idea how to rebuild it. The check-ins feel like interrogations. The conversations go nowhere. And she still doesn't feel safe — even when he's telling the truth. If you and your spouse are trying to heal after porn addiction, this video gives you a specific way to rebuild trust that actually works. Not through promises. Not through accountability apps. Through a different kind of conversation that lets her see inside your world instead of just hearing about the outcome. In this episode you'll learn: Why the standard porn addiction recovery check-in leaves both of you feeling worse What a husband can share that actually helps his wife feel safer Why trust can't be rebuilt through declarations — only through visibility The answer to the question every wife asks: "How do I know if he's telling the truth?" What to talk about that shows real change is happening beneath the surface How these conversations shift from interrogation to genuine connection Most porn addiction recovery plans focus on helping him quit. This video focuses on something just as important — helping your marriage actually heal. Trust isn't rebuilt when your spouse hears that you're doing better. It's rebuilt when she can see it.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23 NLT) Years ago, I was a guest on a morning television show. The host and I were having a nice chat when, near the end of the program, he dropped a bombshell. He said, “Greg, I have a question for you. You believe that most of the world is non-Christian and that because of that, they are going to burn in Hell for all eternity. What kind of loving God would ever create such a scenario? Is that like a petty boss that some people have created, not understanding God?” I had about two minutes to respond to that question. But after the show ended and the cameras stopped rolling, our conversation continued. He went on to ask me about good people and how a God of love could allow them to face judgment. I pointed out that we must define what “good” is. As humans, we have a sliding scale of good. Everyone seems to believe that they are good. They are always the moral center of their universe. They immediately give themselves a free pass and believe that other people aren’t as good as they are. The problem is that we have conflicting views regarding what is good. So, how do we determine what good is? We all have the answer, and it’s found in the Bible. God says, “No one is righteous—not even one” (Romans 3:10 NLT). This doesn’t mean there aren’t good people in a broad sense; it means no one is good enough to get to Heaven on their own merit. In the end, it’s not our standards of goodness that matter; it’s God’s. And, as the apostle Paul makes clear a few verses later in Romans 3, God’s threshold for goodness is much higher than ours. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (verse 23 NLT). Our efforts to be “good enough” on our own don’t impress God. Isaiah 64:6 says, “We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags” (NLT). Our good deeds can’t help us escape the judgment we deserve for our sin. Only God’s forgiveness can do that. From an eternal perspective, being good isn’t about being the nicest person or the kindest person. It’s about being a forgiven person. That’s who will be in Heaven: forgiven people. If you’ve always put your faith in your own goodness, now is the time to reevaluate. Consider the warnings of Scripture carefully. Admit that your best isn’t good enough. Confess your sins to God and ask for His forgiveness. Trust in the righteousness of Christ for your salvation. If you’ve already done that, embark on your own personal mission to take the gospel message to the people around you. Help them understand why good isn’t good enough. Reflection question: How would you respond to someone who believes that they’ll go to Heaven when they die because they’re a good person? Too many diagnoses. Too many opinions. Too many tabs open. Not enough clarity. If you've ever felt overwhelmed trying to navigate Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS), Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD), POTS, MCAS, chronic pain, or other complex health issues, you're not alone. In this episode of Bendy Bodies with the Hypermobility MD, Dr. Linda Bluestein is joined by physician assistant Rebecca Gluck, PA-C, who brings specialized genetics experience from working alongside Dr. Clair Francomano and serves on the Ehlers-Danlos Society's Medical and Scientific Advisory Board and Road to 2026 Research Committee. Together, they discuss how patients and families can move from information overload to a clearer, more practical plan. They explore how to evaluate online communities, AI tools, direct-to-consumer genetic testing, and conflicting medical opinions without becoming even more overwhelmed. Rebecca and Dr. Bluestein explain why diagnosis is often the beginning, not the end, of the journey, and why there is no single "EDS expert" who can solve every problem in one visit. They also walk through how to prioritize symptoms, identify the most functionally limiting issues, avoid unnecessary "whack-a-mole" interventions, and build a collaborative care team. This conversation is for anyone who has too many diagnoses, too many opinions, too many tabs open, and no clear next step. If you are trying to make sense of EDS, HSD, hypermobility, mast cell activation, POTS, chronic pain, genetic testing, AI-generated health information, or proposed procedures, this episode offers practical guidance to help you pause, sort through the noise, and move forward with more clarity. Takeaways: • Information overload is real, especially for people with EDS, HSD, POTS, MCAS, chronic pain, and complex multisystem symptoms. • More information does not always mean more clarity. The key is learning what applies to you, right now. • AI tools and direct-to-consumer genetic testing can help organize questions, but they are not diagnostic and can make uncertain findings sound more certain than they are. • A diagnosis can provide validation and shared language, but it is usually the start of building a plan, not the finish line. • Hypermobile EDS (hEDS) and HSD currently do not have a confirmatory genetic test. • No single clinician can be the expert in everything. Progress often comes from a collaborative care team and a clinician willing to listen, learn, and help prioritize. • When multiple diagnoses and procedures are on the table, focusing on the most functionally limiting symptoms can help prevent unnecessary or poorly timed interventions. • Addressing underlying contributors such as mast cell activation, dysautonomia, sleep, nutrition, pain, and deconditioning may sometimes reduce the need for more invasive steps. • The goal is not to chase every possible diagnosis at once. The goal is to identify the next best step. Go to AirDoctorPro.com and use promo code BENDY_ to get UP TO $300 off today! Want more Dr. Linda Bluestein, MD? There are times when a person is in desperate need of a yeshuah, but there does not seem to be any way for him to be helped. He begins to panic. Time is of the essence, yet there is no help in sight. He wants to pray, but he can't imagine how he could still possibly be saved. One of the ways that Hashem deals with us is called מקדים רפואה למכה . He prepares the solution even before the problem arises. When we think it has reached the point where it is too late to be saved, it is very possible that Hashem already has the help on the way. A man told me that several years ago, he and his wife were home for Shabbat while their two children were sleeping. They had just begun their seudah when his wife started choking on a piece of fish. At first she was coughing. Her husband asked if everything was okay, and she gave him a thumbs-up. She then walked over to the sink to try to clear her throat, but instead, the fish bone became lodged even deeper. Within moments, she could no longer breathe. He tried everything he could think of to get it out, but nothing was working. At that time, Hatzalah had not yet begun operating in their neighborhood, so he called 911. He knew they were not going to arrive for at least a few minutes, but he couldn't wait that long. They lived in a small building with only four families. He ran into the hallway and started screaming for help, but there was no answer. His wife was turning blue. He realized that none of the other families were home. He screamed even louder, but still nobody answered. Then, all of a sudden, the elevator door opened. One of the neighbors stepped out and immediately ran to the rescue. When the conventional methods didn't work, she did something that is generally not recommended. She reached her finger into the woman's throat, causing her to gag, and Baruch Hashem, the fish bone popped right out. Her life was saved. The neighbor then shared the amazing hashgachah of how she happened to arrive at that exact moment. She admitted that she still had a long way to go in her religious observance. She had not grown up religious and had not yet learned about keeping Shabbat properly. That Friday night, she and her husband had been invited to his parents' home for dinner on the other side of town. Normally, they always traveled together in one car. But this time, for the very first time, she decided to take a separate car because she was afraid her husband would want to stay later than she did. In the end, she decided to leave much earlier than usual. On the drive home, she made every single green light. She had never driven that route so quickly in her life. As the seconds were ticking away and this woman's life hung in the balance, it looked as if there was no one who could save her. What they didn't realize was that Hashem had already sent the messenger long before anyone knew there would be an emergency. He had already arranged for this woman to take a separate car for the first time, to leave earlier than usual, and to arrive at that building at the precise moment she was needed. It appeared as if there was no salvation. There was nobody around to help. But the One Who takes care of us had already set the yeshuah into motion. No matter how bleak or hopeless a situation may appear, salvation is always possible. Very often, Hashem has already prepared it long before we even realize there is a problem. Our job is to cry out to Hashem with emunah, knowing that He can save us in any way He chooses, and that perhaps, at this very moment, the yeshuah is already on its way.
In this episode of Live Well, Earn Well, guest host Donna Lynn Price sits down with Don Weber, a communication coach and leadership trainer who works with executives, senior leaders, diplomats, and professionals operating in high-pressure environments. Don shares how his journey began after leaving government and intelligence work — and how he rebuilt his identity, purpose, and business by focusing on one essential skill: understanding people. Rather than relying on complicated systems or performative leadership tactics, Don's work centers on listening deeply, reading subtle cues, and communicating with clarity and presence. Throughout the conversation, Don explains why many leaders struggle to communicate effectively, how over-explaining can actually undermine trust, and why small, intentional shifts in how we listen and respond can change everything — from workplace relationships to business outcomes. This episode is a grounded, thoughtful exploration of leadership, human behavior, and sustainable growth — especially for entrepreneurs and professionals who want to lead with confidence without losing authenticity. In this episode, we discuss: Why listening is the foundation of trust and effective leadership How understanding human behavior improves communication in business The challenge of translating deep expertise into clear, usable language Why simple communication strategies outperform complex systems The tension between growth, scale, and staying personal in your work What leaders often misunderstand about presence and clarity About the Guest Don Weber is a communication coach and leadership trainer with over 11 years of experience working with executives, senior leaders, diplomats, and organizations. His work focuses on helping people communicate with clarity, build trust, and lead with confidence — especially in high-stakes environments where subtle cues and awareness matter most.
Trust the path. Let it all unfold. Just release the control. This is the mantra the medicine gave me in the Sacred Valley of Peru and it became the song I have been sitting with ever since. And now it is finally here. In this solocast I am sharing the story behind Trust the Path, my new single, and everything the dark night of the soul taught me about surrendering to the unknown. In this episode, Drew, Tom, and Ryan dig into the leftward lurch of the Democratic Party, unpacking the DSA wave behind Mamdani's New York sweep and what it means when self-described communists start winning the safest Democratic seats in the country. The conversation traces how populism is fueled by economic anxiety, why both parties keep racing to the extremes, and whether finding the way back to the middle is even possible anymore. From there, they get into the hard economics: why socialist and communist policies historically break the economy, the calorie-storage origin of the social contract, the freeloader problem that sinks societies, and the real fight over wages, corporations, and whether companies like Walmart and Amazon are the villains people think they are. They take on Trump's threat to sic the DOJ on big oil for price gouging, why government price controls always fail, and how the OPEC cartel and regulatory capture are the actual problems behind what you pay at the pump. The discussion turns global with a hard look at USAID, the claim that foreign aid has been quietly funding NGOs and destabilization movements abroad, Japan dumping US treasuries amid its liquidity crisis, and the financial repression playbook Washington may use to inflate its way out of a crushing national debt. They weigh in on Congress voting to curb hostilities with Iran and what it means for negotiating power. Finally, the episode goes deep on one of the most important debates of the next decade: a Michigan city council banning the pride flag, Muslim immigration and assimilation, whether Islam has had its reformation, separation of church and state, and the candid clash over whether America is truly a Christian nation or simply shaped by Christian values. Whether you're here for sharp political analysis, hard economic truth, or a deeper look at the values shaping society, this episode offers a nuanced, unflinching take on how today's choices will define tomorrow.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Welcome back to Barn Talk! In today's episode, the conversation focused on the incredible journey of Grey Zabel, who demonstrates that you can make it to the absolute peak of professional sports while remaining a farm kid at heart. From growing up in Pierre, South Dakota as a fifth-generation farmer to his college football career at North Dakota State and being picked 18th overall by the Seattle Seahawks, Grey's story is both inspiring and down-to-earth. A key theme that emerged was the importance of faith, family, farming, and football, which Grey describes as the four pillars of his life. The discussion explored the challenges and triumphs of his rookie NFL season—including a Super Bowl win—his dedication to running Northland Farms, and the decision to invest in land rather than adopt a flashy lifestyle. Several points were raised, including the parallels between the hard work required in farming and the NFL, the pressures faced by young people in agriculture, and the enduring power of rural values. Whether you are a fan of football, farming, or stories of perseverance, you won't want to miss this episode packed with heart and grit. What if getting older doesn't mean doing less, but doing it better? In this installment of the Aging as an Athlete series, legendary ultrarunner Krissy Moehl welcomes longtime climber and Patagonia ambassador Kate Rutherford for a conversation about longevity, purpose, and evolving with age. Kate shares how decades of climbing taught her that technical skill, efficiency, and joy can eventually outweigh youthful strength and endurance. The discussion explores everything from body awareness and recovery to nutrition, community, and why learning to focus on what truly matters becomes one of the greatest athletic advantages. Whether you're a runner, climber, or simply hoping to stay active for life, this episode offers a refreshing perspective on growing older without giving up adventure. Kate is a long time professional climber, artist, advocate for wilderness, eater of leafy organic greens, president of Farm To Crag, and product line manager at Patagonia. Her passion for climbing has taken her all over the world including first ascents on Fitz Roy in Patagonia, Kenya, Iran, and Venezuela, a free ascent of El Capitan's Free Rider. She has had the opportunity to work with some amazing organizations, including Patagonia, La Sportiva, Edelrid, Black Diamond, Clif Bar, the Access Fund, and the American Alpine club. The combination of climbing, a biology degree from the Colorado College, rural homesteading in Alaska, subsistence hunting and fishing, carrots from Mom's garden, and watching organic regenerative agriculture's ability to combat climate change, has led me to co-found Farm to Crag. It is the perfect blend of climbing, stories, farms, maps, organic greens, environmental activism, and dinner parties. Certainty isn't confidence. Often it's armor over deep insecurity—and it's how emotional immaturity and narcissism hide in plain sight. In this Q&A crossover, Tony works through three listener questions and lands on the one most relevant to anyone untangling a high-conflict or emotionally immature relationship: why the most certain, "I-know-everything" voices feel so magnetic—and why something about them still feels so off. Drawing on Elinor Greenberg's work, he maps the spectrum from healthy ego all the way to pathological defensive narcissism, where being wrong feels life-threatening and protecting the story matters more than reality. In this episode, you'll: Separate healthy ego (earned, stable, correctable) from pathological defensive narcissism—a facade so thin a single question can deflate it like a helium balloon. Name why narcissistic and emotionally immature people rewrite events in real time—a concept called confabulation. Understand whole object relations and object constancy, and why someone can only see you as all good or all bad. Recognize how groups organize around the loudest, most certain voice—and why the yes-men reinforce it. Trust what you're sensing when someone's confident messaging keeps shifting; the inconsistency isn't your imagination. 00:00 Q&A Episode Setup 01:34 Three Questions Theme 05:18 Why Curiosity Matters 07:25 Brain Craves Certainty 09:03 Ambiguity Feels Threatening 10:49 Stress Kills Curiosity 13:14 Cognitive Flexibility 14:38 Certainty Gets Rewarded 17:39 Phone Privacy Conflicts 22:40 Four Pillars Framework 26:49 Validation Seeking Habits 28:37 Desert and Thirst Metaphor 31:28 Validation Seeking Pattern 32:04 Curiosity Over Self-Monitoring 34:05 Boundaries With Unavailable People 35:30 You Are Not Broken 36:19 ACT Mindset Shift 37:48 Language Learning Analogy 40:24 From Self-Criticism to Acceptance 42:06 Certainty vs Wisdom 48:27 Insecurity and Emotional Immaturity 50:43 Narcissism as Defense 56:27 Healthy Ego vs Defensive Ego 01:02:27 Leadership and Group Dynamics 01:05:21 Choose Curiosity and Close Tony Overbay is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has built his career helping people identify narcissistic traits, states, and tendencies in their relationships and in themselves.
